He is very helpful during lectures. He teaches in a clear, concise manner. Did a good job of answering questions outside of class. Wish I could take another class with him.
You guys this class was easy. Do the work, go to class, get an A. Definitely take him to get your math gcr out of the way.
Good guy who's willing to help you out if you're not doing well or getting the material. His lectures are kind of unclear at times. Exams can also be challenging. Just make sure that you're on top of the material beforehand. Probably the friendliest guy in the department.
I enjoyed his linear algebra class very much. He makes the theoretical aspects of linear algebra meaningful and teaches the course conceptually. Probably the best professor in the department to learn math from.
He is great! This was my first pure math. course after calculus. His background is in pure math and theoretical electrical engineering. He really understands the essence of math theories and their usefulness in other areas. Definitely take linear algebra with him.
Prof. Foroozan is a good professor. He teaches the subject matter fairly well and his exams are very fair. I would recommend him to anyone who has to take 51.
Awesome!!!
Very talented professor. I do not normally enjoy math lectures but during his lectures, I really start to enjoy the different math concepts.
Good professor. Lectures are clear. Tests require a good understanding of the material but they are definitely not difficult. Probably the best teacher to take for 51.
He has a very heavy accent which makes lectures difficult. Also, cuz there is no book, going to lecture is really good for understanding the notes he gives you. The tests and quizzes are hard, but if you do the homework, they are pretty easy. I hate math, but this was pretty easy all things considered. Take good notes and study, you'll be fine!
I had a wonderful semester. I really enjoyed his class and it really opened my eyes to how interesting math can be.
Very good calculus professor. Has a little bit of an accent, but its very easy to understand. Attendance is not mandatory, but going to class will definitely help you comprehend calc better than just out of the book. Tests can be easy or hard, its calc, enough said. Take him if you can for calc.
Great Professor. Although the math part of this course is very easy, proving the theorems are challenging. And He is crystal clear about those. The class discussion really helps you understand the reasoning part of the course. If you do the homework and attend the class regularly you will do fine in tests and quizzes.
Good teacher and a good man. Take his class for sure.
One of the funniest and most helpful professors I had! Definitely recommend his class. He prepares you really well and goes over the hw in detail. Always willing to help.
An AWESOME professor! He's very clear and loves to tell jokes. I enjoyed going to class. The material isn't difficult and if you keep up, you don't even have to study for the 3 quizzes, 2 midterms, and final that make up the class' grades. I felt like it was an easy A
Engaging and funny. Made material easy to understand. Very fair! Take his class for sure.
Professor Foroozan is absolutely wonderful. I took 3rd semester calc with him after a 4 year hiatus from math - not an easy subject to jump back into. However, he was incredibly understanding and took the time to help me catch up and stay current with new material. HIGHLY recommended!
I loved this professor, he has an amazing sense of humor. Always tries to get the class to laugh at least a couple times every class. Information is very clear, quizzes are really easy, tests can be a bit tricky. You don't need the book as long as you go to class and take decent notes. I would definitely take his class again.
Foroozan is a decent teacher overall and is funny. He is helpful, particularly if you go to office hours, and seems genuinely invested in ensuring that students are able to learn the material. One small drawback is he requires a $300 textbook which he only uses for homework.
An Awesome Professor!
He's excellent. Will do anything for he students. We had a test that most people failed, so he gave the tests back, said he'd reteach the material, and give an easier exam.
He is awesome, puts lots of time and energy into our learning experience.
Professor Foroozan is definitely funny and has a great personality. However I found that he often rushes through material so that I always leave class unclear on the topics we covered. All of his tests were hard and he didn't curve any of them.
This was an amazing class. I really enjoyed Professor Foroozan's class. He has been the most clear math teacher I have ever had.
Really nice, funny teacher and fairly easy! If you don't understand something, don't hesitate to ask him for help 'cause he wants all of his students to do well!
I really enjoyed and learned a lot from Professor Foroozan's math class.
The professor is very approachable and helpful. When explaining he is very clear and continues to go over problems until everyone is up to pace.
Prof. Foroozan is the best math teacher I have ever had in my life. He is very clear (and funny) in lecture, and if there is anything that you don't understand, he is very helpful in office hrs. I'm no longer in his math, but I still go to his office hrs for math help. Best math prof at GW.
Easily the second best math teacher I've ever had in my life. He explains things really well in lecture and makes sure everybody understands, but when it comes to tests, the problems are significantly harder than anything in the textbook or in lecture.
I took AP Calc, and this class was so easy. His midterms are only 6 questions and his quizzes are only at most 3 questions. However, if you haven't taken AP Calc, I can see how it can be challenging if it's completely new material.
Prof. Foroozan is a great professor to teach math! His teaching is clear and can be easily understood. I enjoy his class much and I think it is not difficult.
Pretty easy math class especially at the beginning. Gets harder when learning about fractals. He understands that it is a requirement and that people don't really care so he is straightforward. Nothing surprising on tests if you review hw. Takes attendance and collects in class assignments for attendance sometimes.
He was a great professor. Felt I learned alot. Made the subject a lot easier to understand. Homework load was manageable and great quality. Would recommend to anyone.
An amazing professor overall. Very good at explaining concepts to his students, always gives great feedback when you ask questions. Only 2 quizzes, a midterm, and a final. Quizzes are 2-3 questions, the Midterm is 8. Not bad at all if you review notes and homework. Would definitely recommend this professor!
If you have to take calculus, take him! His class was extremely reasonable and he is a very nicefair man. He made me like math again! Only 3 quizes, 1 midterm, and 1 final. His quizes and midterm are not bad if you study and he curved the final. I would take a higher math if he taught the course! Take him and you will not regret it.
just great
If you have to take Finite Math, take Foroozan, please. He is so sweet and understanding, makes finite math easy and bearable (unlike Moses). He makes it as easy as possible bc he knows business students are just taking it for the math credit.
Tough but if you work hard you will do fine. Homework is online and four small quizzes and two exams make up your grade. Study and go to class if you want to do well!
Amazing professor and easy professor for a math class. Highly recommended if you hate math and need to fulfil a math credit.
One of the best math professors at GW hands down. I messed up on the midterm and got like a 50, and I still ended up with an A- . The best way to study for his exams is to review your homeworks and make sure you have good notes on examples he gives in class.
A hidden gem in the math department and by far the most genuine and down to earth instructor you can possibly have (in contrast to GW's myriad ego-driven mathematicians who pride themselves as "little tin gods"). Cares deeply about his students, offers extra credit every class, and exams are takehome. And his lucidly while lecturing is remarkable.
Prof. Foroozan was a funny guy and made Calculus manageable. If you've taken calc or are good at math this class is an easy A. Three quizzes (dropped the lowest) (20% total), heavily curved midterm (20%), final (30%), attendance (5%), homework (25%). Lectures got long but he was a fair grader and wanted everyone to succeed/understand math.
I definitely learned a lot about a wide array of topics, from probability to actual finance. I don't think I came into the course with a strong background, but the class was still taught to my ability. I think Foroozan is too smart to teach.
Mathematical ideas was a wonderful class . I learned a lot about the geometry and symmetry of real life objects
Professor Foroozan is one of the best professors at GW. He really wants you to succeed and will go over concepts in class as often as you need him to. His class is fairly easy, only 3 quizzes (he drops the lowest score) and a final plus extra credit. He's so chill, it's a great class to take for the math requirement!
He's really funny, but also very redundant. Kind of boring for the ADD mind. He says really random funny things, though. Nice guy.
Hardest math class I have ever taken. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who is not an advanced math major. That being said, you can do well if you are willing to put in a huge amount of work. He offers lots of extra credit and grades fairly. Thick accent and reads directly from the textbook, which itself is very confusing and not helpful.
Professor was great and super understanding! He explained much of the gaps in the textbook. He appreciated eagerness and commitment to learn.
If you're a non-math major and only have one math requirement, then take this class. He's a nice guy, but he gets a little confusing sometimes. The topics we learned are random but you'll survive. He also gives extra credit and he drops the lowest quiz grade out of the 3 quizzes! 3 quizzes (20%), midterm (15%),final (25%), attendance (5%), HW (35%)
This course is great and professor is amazing, He made us think critically. He always made sure that everyone understood the material before we moved on to the next topic.
The professor is the best. He is extremely enthusiastic and makes learning a dull topic fun. He provides excellent instruction and very attentive to the students.
This was an excellent course in the theory of stochastic calculus. As a student of pure math, I now have a very solid foundation to pursue more difficult topics in stochastic calculus. The Professor was particularly careful in making sure both the pure and applied students would gain a lot from the class.
He is a GREAT GUY. Reminds me of a high school math teacher, not a university professor. Truly caring, very compassionate, and makes Math genuinely fun. I do not like Math at all, but learning math with him was absolutely great. He made math fun. Definitely one of the nicest professor in GWU.
Professor Foroozan is very knowledgeable about math and he's very smart. He also makes math interesting and engaging.
Mathematical ideas is meant for students who are not mathematically gifted. The class had 2 mandatory homework assignments and 1 for extra credit, 3 quizzes lowest one being dropped, a mid term and a final. He pretty much tells you what is going to be on all assessments before hand and helps students immensely if they need it. Great guy.
Great and easy class if you have taken Calculus before. He really cares for his students and wants them to do well. There is a good amount of homework, but his quizzes and exams are easy if you study his practice problems and notes.
If you have ever taken calculus before this class, I highly recommend Foroozan. If you haven't already taken calc, be warned that he makes certain things very confusing, and doesn't give great feedback on quizzes or classwork. Overall, it's an easy A if you just pay attention.
An amazing professor. Very clear at explaining concepts to his students. Topics are very complicated. If you miss a class, you will find it hard to follow. Always gives great feedback when you ask questions.
Prof. Foroozan is awesome, he cares a lot about his students and is more focused on learning the material as opposed to grades. There are only a handful of homeworks, a TAKE HOME midterm, and a final. The class itself is really hard and most of the stuff doesn't make any sense, even for me (math major) but he will absolutely help you. B- worst case
Foroozan's very kind and hilarious during lectures, never been to his office hour tho. We had 4 quizzes, homeworks, and 1 midterm and final. The only thing I would say it that he allows us to have one A4 around-sized cheat sheet in every quiz and exam which is helpful cuz he knows it's most important that we know the method for solving problems.
I thought this class was awesome; it was well structured with the perfect pace as well as the right amount of homework. Professor Foroozan went deep into the materials when explaining the theorems and solutions to the problems. He also made sure that everyone understood the concepts and was always open to questions.
Good teacher for those with a very concrete understanding of calculus. Do not take his course if you have a weak calculus background. The class is filled with people who know calculus, which makes it harder for the few that don't because curves won't work to your favor. He did not curve the final grade because the finals grades were already high.
I love Professor Foroozan. He is incredibly caring and funny. The course is not hard at all
he is such a sweetheart! He gives out extra credit opportunities like free candy so definitely take advantage of them. The questions on his exams are definitely what he tells you will be on the exams. You can tell he really cares about his students. Beware of WebAssign tho
Prof. Foroozan is a gem of a guy, one of GW better math professors. Laid-back but knowledgable, his lectures are always organized and expectations are always clear. This class is Calculus, so its no walk inn the park, but youre never up a creek without a paddle. Add to that the corny, hilarious observational comedy he injects into his lectures.
I didn't take calculus in high school, so I found Prof. Foroozan's fast lectures difficult to follow. But don't be intimidated--he is truly a kindhearted person who will help you as much as possible. Take advantage of the generous extra credit early and often. Another plus--he adds interesting historical and philosophical context to lectures.
I mean if you study hard you could do well in any math classes. His lectures are clear and well-organized. He gave a lot of extra credit opportunities but I never did any so I dont know how they work. Overall he is a decent math professor.
I took this class because I only needed one math class to fulfill my requirements. Although it seems easy, it's a made-up class. The book was written by GW professors and doesn't have much math, meaning its more critical thinking. However, professor Foroozan was a solid choice. He gave lots of extra credit and dropped your lowest quiz grade.
He's really strange which is funny and confusing at the same time. A joy ride for some kids and a death sentence for others. If you (and chances are most of the class) don't understand something make sure to tell him because then he wont put it on the test. He wants everyone to do well but you need to meet him halfway
Solid calc teacher. His accent makes it a bit challenging to understand him throughout his lectures. However, he is a really nice guy and will work with you to do better in the class.
Professor Foroozan is great. He was engaging and made math easier. He made it fun!
Professor Foroozan is literally the uncle I wish I had. I thought he was absolutely hysterical, and the best part is that he is a really good teacher. He goes over the material as many times as the class needs him to, and he goes at a pretty moderate pace as well. However, all of my friends that didn't go to class did not do well, so attend!
I am terrible at math and had to take his class to fulfill gen ed requirements. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice Foroozan is. He is such a caring and helpful professor. The content can be hard but he makes the class as easy as possible. He gives extra credit and the homework is easy. For a math class, it was pretty easy. Take him!!!
27 HW, dropped the worst 10. changed the syllabus because it seemed like we disliked it (from 2Midterms & 2Quizzes to 1Mid and 4Quizzes) Dropped the worst quiz, but after we did poorly (on average) on quiz 3, decided to take the best out of the first two, and the best of the last two. Should I even bother to say more? Take exams seriously though.
He's super nice but he's not great at explaining things online, I think he'd be a lot better in person. There's not a lot of homework which is nice, and the exams are short and not hard if you understand the material. I suggest utilizing your TA and each other to make sure you get the concepts and you should be fine. Good math credit for non majors
Pretty sure I'm going to get an A w the sheer amount of extra credit he gives. Most likely you'll get a B+ or A- and the ec will boost it up into an A. Super accommodating and will help you out if you reach out to him. People who fail this class just aren't showing up or doing any hw. Drops lowest quiz grade and has TAs grade quizzes and tests.
The best professor I have ever had at GW and this is coming from an IA major who hates math. I have never understanding or wanted to learn math more. This man is an absolute gem, so many extra credit opportunities, clear lectures that make it so easy to understand (if I could understand it you could. If you have to take math and pol take his!!!!
Prof Foroozan is hands down one of my favorite profs. Im not a STEM student, but he made the material genuinely interesting and always carved out class time to answer questions. He gives as many examples as students need and does everything he can to prepare for exams. He also answered any emails I sent within hours. Great online class.
Prof Foroozan is great! The class was easy, there were opportunities for extra credit, and assignment instructions were clear. He is a very caring and forgiving professor and provided a lot of flexibility for online learning.
Really nice professor. If my class was confused about a homework he would always extend the due date, which was helpful. Quizzes graded by the TA, mine wasn't very nice, but Prof would go over them in class which was helpful. Sometimes his lectures were confusing, but if someone spoke up he would go back and clarify.
Very well structured class. Challenging, yet easily digestible content. Professor Foroozan is amazing with a great deal of patience and enthusiasm for content throughout the entire course. I greatly appreciated him because he made learning about certain concepts more interesting.
I LOVED this man. While everyone else hated math and politics, he was amazing at explaining concepts and made it really easy. He is also really funny and genuinely cares. A real gem.
Faroozan only puts lecture material on exams. The lectures are a main source of content; write and draw everything. He provides practice exams, and frequently gives extra credit. Exams: 3 quizzes, 2 midterms, 1 final. This class is easy! Do practice problems and emulate the language he uses to describe concepts. Barely any math; just logic.
I liked Prof Foroozan & i think he did alright with the online setting. His lectures were sometimes hard to follow as he free handed everything & his writing was sorta messy. Only 3 quizzes and 3 exams, & for the exams he gave extra credit opportunities. If you're good at math you'll thrive but if not then you may have a harder time like myself.
Professor Foroozan is actually really nice and quite humorous. He offers boatloads of extra credit opportunities and his Math and Politics class is a breeze if you put in the work and pay attention. He tends to rush when explaining certain topics but if you can understand the core theorem or criteria you're all set for the tests. He's a treasure
Prof. Foroozan is the perfect professor for an intro calc course. He is funny, kind, and understanding of any issues that might come up. He is very flexible and offers tons of extra credit (maybe even a bit too much). Lots of weight on quizzes and midterms but he curves them and even moved one to a different day when class said we weren't ready.
If you need to take math to graduate take his class! he is beyond accessible and willing to help. He teaches very well and makes concepts very simple, so much so I haven't even had to pick up the book other than for Classwork and homework, quizzes are straightforward, he even gives fake midterms so you can see the format before! Take his class!
Although the way he teaches is sometimes confusing, as long as you go over the textbook, the concepts are relatively simple. He also gives lots of practice for each quiz which is very helpful. Take this if you need a math gen-ed requirement.
Sometimes Professor Foroozan's lectures can be unclear and it seems like he doesn't know what he is teaching us in the first place. However, he really makes up for it if you just ask him to clarify things and show him that the whole class is confused, he might even move a test or hw date back a couple days or week. Game theory was my favorite unit!
I enjoyed Professor Foroozan's class very much. He is very knowledgable. He is amazing at explaining concepts and made it really interesting (if I could understand it you could) . He is beyond accessible and willing to help, if you have any questions. This man is an absolute gem.
This man is an amazing professor. I have always been average at math and he was able to give me a clearer understanding of the topics we learned. If you have to take a math class take it with him!! He is really understanding and charismatic. What we learn is class is what is on the quizzes and midterms. Highly recommend!
Prof. Foroozan is an extremely nice grader and generally very understanding. He assigns very little homework and the biggest portion of the grade is quizzes, the midterm, and the final, none of which are very hard. You don't even have to go to class bc he always uploads class notes to Blackboard. This class was an easy A.
I loved Foroozan, he was one of my favorite professors so far. His lectures are very easy to follow though he does tend to talk fast and his handwriting can be hard to read. The homework is very easy, and the one time I didn't turn it in he made sure my grade didn't suffer because of it. Take this class you won't regret it.
I would recommend Foroozan for MATH1007 because he was accesible and caring, + I heard other profs were difficult. Lectures were unclear at times, but textbook and prof make it clear. Did so much extra credit & saw none in the gradebook :( Go to class, do the homework, and find a study buddy. I only got a B+ because I skipped some HWs + got 0s.
he's super confusing and not straightforward at all. i ended up relying on the textbook to teach myself, however, even that can be confusing at times. gives a lot of extra credit, make sure to do them
he is very very nice and this class does not have much outside work (there were 5 easy homework assignments throughout the semester, 4 quizzes and a midterm and final) and the class itself is pretty intresting. the proff was very sweet and i liked him a lot.
Such a caring and flexible man. Class gets to decide when exams are. 2 midterms and one final and 2-3 quizzes through the semester. Lectures can be a little fast paced at first, but you get used to it. He makes sure several times everyone understands a concept before moving forward. Would take again!
Not clear at all during lectures, the textbook does a much better job of teaching the material.
This course is highly structured and organized, contributing to a smooth progression throughout the semester.
I found the topic really interesting and like how the new information was presented to us. building one idea to another slowly/the pace of the course was very well structured. I like how approachable professor Foroozan is and how he answered questions very thoroughly.
i have a soft spot for foroozan, hes so sweet and nice. go to class and take notes, go to office hours, and do practice problems and you will do good in the class. he offers a lot of extra credit, if u do the majority of them he will round up ur final grade. start the homeworks early and take ur time bc it's a big part of ur grade.
His class is hard but he is very fair. He offers lots of extra credit opportunities and is very approachable. He often gives class wide extensions for homework. Highly recommend attending all of his lectures because he is very good at explaining complex ideas.
Overall, Foroozan is a good instructor. He teaches concepts clearly. Knowing this, I would not take his class is you are a DSS student. He forgets to pick up exams from the DSS office and therefore DSS students don't get their grades back at the same time as other students. It's the day after the final and I still don't have scores from a midterm.
Overall material was pretty simple and the Professor was quite nice, however one thing that was a major red flag for me was towards the end of the semester near the final exam he was basically inaccessible for some reason, he wouldn't reply any emails on certain questions/ give recommendations. Would recommend just ask him questions early on.
Professor Foroozan was very good at lecturing and made it easier to understand the course material. Providing practice problems from the textbook and practice exams was also very helpful in preparing me for the quizzes and exams.
The professor largely explains concepts clearly and is willing to go back and reiterate a concept if needed. Very receptive to student feedback which was nice. The pace of the class was appropriate; I never felt rushed or overwhelmed.
Some material can be difficult, but Foroozan is very accommodating in pushing back exams and deadlines to make sure we do the best we can. Lots of opps for extra credit, and doing the group work is a good way of boosting your grade. Pretty easy class if you read the textbook and go to class!
NICEST professor at GW! I can't stress that enough! 350 characters doesn't do him justice! The class isn't like any other math class, but there are plenty of resources online to help. Highly recommend the textbook, but get the free online version; necessary for homeworks and group works. Take the class with a friend; it can get confusing at times.
Dropped this class because I couldn't keep up with him. I got really good grades but that's only because he curved HEAVILY. Very nice guy and often offered extra credit but his teaching style didn't match my learning style and I often had to teach myself the curriculum.
Professor Foroozan was an amazing teacher! He gave plenty of extra credit and was very accommodating to the students' needs. Additionally, he was hilarious and made the class laugh often. Lastly, he grades on a pretty generous curve, Overall, this was a great class.
This was a hard class, but Professor Foroozan was very accommodating. Super funny guy and a good teacher. If you don't understand something, don't be afraid to ask questions. And make sure to pay attention in every lecture because this class moves pretty fast, especially towards the end. There was also a very nice curve added at the end.
Lectures are honestly confusing, so the textbook is what I used mainly. Homework can be difficult, but quizzes are easy. He is a funny and caring guy who always listened to what the class needs. I would recommend taking this course with him.
I think the course was very interesting. The professor was very knowledgeable on the subject and taught in a way that was engaging, even though it was a little fast.
Professor Foroozan's lectures were great: he thoroughly explained all of the concepts and set time aside every class to go over the more difficult questions and review the homework. He is understanding and forgiving for late submissions and wants every student to understand the content and get a good score.
He's a really nice guy, and he offers a lot of opportunities for extra credit. The problem is how fast paced the class is. He goes through material fast, and if you're lost it's hard to get back on track, but he's a good lecturer if you understand the material. There's 5 quizzes but one is dropped, midterm, final, and hw, which is tedious.
Professor Foroozan is extremely caring and offers a lot of opportunities to raise your grade with extra credit, homework, etc. However, the content of the course is definitely not the easiest, especially if you don't have a solid background in algebra. If you have to take a math class, take Foroozan.
Prof. Foroozan is the best math teacher I've ever had!!! Take his class if you need to fulfill the math requirement. He cares about students A LOT. Tests and quizzes aren't hard if you practice questions in a textbook before taking exams. Lectures might be overwhelming sometimes, but ensure you're on top of what you learn so that you will be fine.
I loved the prof, he can sometimes be unclear but just ask for clarification! Honestly to do well, you have to show up and participate, pref in groups! Most people taking this class are not super math-savvy, so you have to engage and ask questions or it's gonna catch up to you. This is a very doable class, but only if you put the bare minimum in.
Professor Foroozan is chill, and funny at times. Lenient towards extension requests (don't request too much). Though - I would not recommend this course just for crdit if you're a humanities major (IA, PoliSci, etc), heavily logic-based and a lot of memorization. Would rather have taken statistics instead, would be much more useful and helpful.
So sweet, its hard to care about any work you have. You have group work, homework, quizzes, midterm, and final. I got 100% on almost everything with little effort, its all very easy if you just try a little. He wants you to do well. The homework takes a while but there is only 4 the whole semester and 4 quizzes so its super manageable. Take him
I'm not great at math, and this class was manageable as long as I put the effort in. Go to every class, take notes, do the homework, and have someone to study with and you'll be fine. Not the easiest class for me personally, but good to take just to get credit.
Don't be fooled! Ridiculous amt. of textbook reading and HW, and the professor is stubborn. My first week ever at GW, I didn't know how to use blackboard, I tried submitting HW and couldn't find the submission box. I emailed him the HW (5 mins late) and he refused my hours of work and gave me a zero and was totally unwilling to negotiate. Avoid!
The best Math and Politics prof at this school. Extremely helpful, if you're confused he will explain it to you until you fully understand. Honestly easy class if you just show up to class and take notes. He posts all the notes from lecture after class. Super doable, just have to put in some effort.
Foroozan was a great professor. Lectures were super in depth and he explains the content a lot. Super accommodating and answered every question. Homework isn't a lot of work and quiz's were easy as he reviewed in class before everyone. Cheat sheet was available to use for the final.
Overall i'd recommend this class. He is a nice guy, and wants everyone to do well. He moves fast and the content isn't the easiest, but he drops the lowest quizzes and homeworks, and allows for cheat sheets on the midterm and final. Homework is through mymathlab so you have to buy the textbook.
Prof Foroozan is such a sweet guy. Took this class for GenEd. Totally worth it for that. Information easy and entertaining. Lectures are him talking (quietly) and handwriting on an iPad (projected). There is group work after most classes, and homework for each unit. Quizzes are easier than the homework, and the final includes a cheat sheet. Easy A.
Foroozan teaches this class well. lectures are not required to truly get the material, but if you attend lectures you don't really need to read. Homework is pretty stickler-graded, but if you thoroughly explain then you should be fine. Your lowest quiz is dropped, and on the final, you get a cheat sheet. If you need a math credit, this is good@
This class is very fast-paced, so it is helpful to read the material beforehand. I found him to be an easy grader for the most part and very forgiving if you struggled or needed help. I found this class to be more "theory-based" compared to a typical math class, but I still enjoyed it once I understood it.
Very caring profesor. I had him in Calc for Business/Econ. He wasn't actually that great at explaining the concepts, but he cared a lot and tried his best. YouTube videos were the most helpful thing for the class. Make sure to keep up with the material. Generous grader.
Professor Foroozan was very good at lecturing and explaining the complex concepts which made it easier to understand the course material. Providing practice problems from the textbook and practice exams was also very helpful in preparing me for the quizzes and exams.
Professor Foroozan was very knowledgeable and made lectures/a dense or complicated topic more interesting and easy to understand. He took his time to make sure his students are succeeding and doing the best they can.
best professor ever, wish i could have him again and in every class. a very easy class with barely any maths.
This man is my king. He cares about this topic, but likes to have conversations about other things outside of elections. He is so funny too and I don't think that he knows it. As long as you show up everyday and do all of the (rarely) assigned homework and groupwork, you'll get a good grade. He also does a good job at explaining confusing topics.
If you are looking for a math class and aren't a math person take this class. The professor is so sweet and helps you out if you have any questions. Also material is super easy, make sure to do all of the assignments and pay attention half the time and you'll be fine!
If there were more Professors like Foroozan at GW, the world would be a better place. incredibly kind hearted man who really wants you to learn. flexible due dates, drops lowest quiz grade, and will re-explain something 1000 times if you need him to do it and gives generous partial credit on mostly everything. Best math and politics professor!
I understand his hype but he wasnt AMAZING. Goes extremely fast. If math is not your strong suit then it will be hard and frustrating to keep up with his pace. Super caring and gives partial points on incorrect answers. He rushed all our quizzes at the end of the sem. Lots of groupwork and homework with multiple parts. Overall good.
Extremely easy class, requires logic and basic algebra. Lectures were not very engaging, make sure to make friends so you aren't too bored. Such a nice man who cares about his students. Lectures are from the textbook, you do not need to read it at all but you do need it to do homework and groupwork questions. Multiple quizzes and a final.
my favorite professor. so caring and understanding. easy grader, lots of homework (answers in textbook). four quizzes: lowest is dropped, cheat sheet on the final. will devote time towards explaining if you attend office hours and very accessible in general. attendance not mandatory for lectures (all notes are posted online). 100% take this class.
Lectures were good and should be enough to get through the semester when paired with recitation. Quizzes every other week, but wasnt too hard. Pretty funny guy and knows his stuff.
Foroozan is a caring professor who makes this easy math class enjoyable. The content is straightforward, and with the help of Unstuckstudy, you'll do well. Just attend class, do the work, and you'll likely get an A.
Prof. Foroozan I'm sure is a nice person, but this class was incredibly painful as a whole. Homework and group work is frequent, and while there are hints given, oftentimes they are non-sensical. Work is not graded on a frequent basis and when it is, there is no feedback so you don't actually know how to improve. Overall, fine for a gen-ed.
He is a very good professor for this class. If you attend the lectures, you may find reading the textbook isn't necessary. He reviews the homework thoroughly, and he provides practice problems before each quiz or exam. The lowest quiz score is dropped, and you're allowed to use a cheat sheet for the final exam.
Lectures can be somewhat difficult to follow so you're better off just using the textbook
Professor Foroozan was great. His lectures were detailed, and he consistently took the time to thoroughly explain the material. Homework was manageable and quiz's were easy as he reviewed in class beforehand. A cheat sheet was permitted during the final exam.
An actual saint, he literally gave us quiz answers and exam answers just because people were struggling on a few problems. He drops 1 quiz and 10 home works, the content is already not that bad, Foroozan just makes it significantly more enjoyable. He also gives you extra credit which can bump you up a letter grade. Overall caring and amazing man.
Spends a lot of time unnecessarily talking about proofs. Very boring when he does. Can be difficult to comprehend at times, I had to teach myself a lot. Would not take if you have never taken Calculus before. Very generous grader and gives lots of extra credit though. If you took Calculus in high school and do the homework, you'll survive.
Farshad Foroozan is a just a chill guy. Concepts are fairly easy to grasp, and if you keep up with the material at his pace, you'll be set for an A. Definitely recommend
Easy grader. Easy concepts. I'm not a math person and I didn't find this class particularly challenging. His lectures can be confusing but do show up because he gives explanations about what is/will be on hw and tests that you won't get just by reading the textbook. Pretty funny guy, too.
Professor Foroozan's lectures were great. He clearly explained all the concepts and dedicated time in every class to address challenging questions and review homework. He is both understanding and accommodating with late submissions, showing a genuine desire for every student to grasp the material and succeed.
Professor Foroozan is an excellent instructor and very knowledgeable who has made lectures/a dense or complicated topic more interesting and easy to understand. He always takes the time to support his students, making sure they feel confident and capable in their learning.
This is my second time taking Prof Foroozan (the first class I ended up dropping). The material was hard and he covers it quickly so I ended up having to teach myself most of the topics. Did pretty poorly on the exams but curves your individual grades so that you pass. Allows you to have a cheat sheet on some of the exams.
Foroozan was very nice and flexible with assigning work and scheduling quizzes. But I had to reteach myself every aspect of the course with the help of student tutors. the content is not difficult but his explanations make it confusing.
Class is so boring and sometimes hard to fellow because of his messy writing. He did random attendance checks but they're not graded. Everything was fairly graded. easiest math.
Professor is one of the most enthusiastic about his material and is fun to listen to. Is very straightforward about the content.
Super easy. Even if you are confused at times during the lectures the tests are super simple and he gives very similar practice problems beforehand (sometimes even gives the answers). Cheat sheet for final. Only need textbook for problems, just get your notes from his lectures. He is way easier than other professor who teaches M&P.
Has a thick accent that was very hard to understand, even when sitting in the first few rows of the lecture hall. Lectures were very dry and were comprised of professor writing the textbook definitions on his ipad. I ended up passing by essentially re-learning the material at academic commons. Cheat sheet allowed on final so that's a plus.
Great professor! I really enjoy the subject and the different concepts we learned in the course. The course is very interesting way of thinking about math. It is a unique type of math, and something I was completely unfamiliar with prior to the course.
This course was more about critical thinking rather than just the numbers themselves without context. The professor is very clear about everything; the grading criteria, content. he does a great job of getting his point across. He is very understanding and open to help with the coursework or discussing an interesting topic that crossed your mind.
Professor Foroozan was okay, I just didn't love the super lecture heavy, then not a lot of help for before the quizzes. He allowed a cheat sheet on the final which I appreciated.
Is the sweetest professor, reads directly from the textbook, truly cares about the students however, the content is very illogical and is hard to get the hang of right away. A good math credit if needed, but be aware it's not a breeze.
Everything about this course was amazing. The professor does a great job on explaining the topics learned and making sure all students understood them. The homework problems were always manageable and helped prepare for quizzes and exams.
Farshad is the best professor. For math and politics, it is not even close. explains everything in great detail and makes sure you understand the content. So funny, such a good guy. 5 homework, 4 quizzes, midterm, and final. Easy to do well if you put in the work
Incredibly nice guy. Class was somewhat challenging but if you study enough, it's not that bad. Math is definitely not my thing but Professor Foroozan is super nice and very accessible outside of class. The class is good for completing the GenEd requirement.
He's a sweetheart and great teacher, I never read the textbook just took notes during lecture and that was enough. Very accomodating too, he bumped up some of my quizzes after I pointed out some grading mistakes. If you are a decent student, you will do well in this class. I'm also awful at math and it's looking like I will end with an A.
Come to class, he often will go over the homework or even quiz questions the class before they are due, so come to class. He is very sweet and honestly grades mainly on homeworks and quizzes. I scored poorly on a quiz, and he is going to drop it (thank god). I would recommend taking American Politics before this class because it helps a little.
Can't stress this enough but if you need a math gen ed - TAKE MATH AND POLITICS WITH PROF. FOROOZAN. The class is straightforward if you use logic and attention to detail through lengthy problems. Prof. Foroozan is a funny guy who lectures clearly and precisely, explains everything super well. Nice person, generous grader, accessible after class.
His lectures were often a bit disorganized, but the textbook explains everything you'll ever need to know. I didn't really attend class after the first couple weeks and did fine. Weekly HWs on Pearson, and a midterm/final that both have very similar problems to those in textbook. HWs can take a bit but are easy 100s.
Had to go to the ER, causing me to miss deadline for a homework assignment, emailed him once I realized I had missed it, response was: I was unable to submit regardless. Asked if I had missed any info related to the final when I was out for doctors appoint. he said no and I went to exam not knowing I could have a full notebook cheat sheet, I failed
Professor Foroozan is a good, but there are some difficulties. He is difficult to understand at times and his handwriting is poor. He is not however, careless. He teaches course material in a digestible manner and constantly gives examples and extra credit. He will ask students to complete homework and group-work. Assessments come periodically.
Professor Foroozan is a great guy. He cares a lot about his students and makes class engaging. However, it is sometimes difficult to understand him, and his handwriting is at times hard to read. All of the material needed to do well in the class is in the textbook, which is a free PDF, but attendance is taken periodically.
If you need a math gen-ed, Math and Politics, take it with Professor Foroozan . The course is clear and structured, and succeeding is very doable with logical thinking and attention to detail. Professor Foroozan is an engaging lecturer who explains concepts thoroughly and is always approachable and supportive.
There's an online textbook with a free version, the homework is similar to the quiz questions. His homework is an easy A, as well as the groupwork assignment and this is just graded for completion which the answers for the group work is at the very end of the textbook (not the homework.) The final exam you will have a cheat sheet.
He is a nice professor and explains the content as much as possible. He's available outside of class and provides a summary of every homework assignment before they are due.
Prof. Foroozan is a kind and funny guy who likes the topic he teaches. The homework and groupwork assignments are straightforward (The answers to the groupwork are found in the back of the book, and it's just graded for completion). There are 4 quizzes throughout the semester, plus the midterm and final. You get a cheat sheet for the final exam.
Good professor and easy class to fulfill the qualitative reasoning requirement. Content can be confusing at times but he is willing to help. Professor Foroozan is a very endearing man and does explain concepts well. He occasionally takes attendance, but not often. Don't buy the textbook it is available for free online.
He is super funny and knowledgeable. Class and content is really easy. Graded on quizzes, homework which he goes over in class the class before its due and group work graded on completion. Topics are not hard but you either get it or don't. He explains thing pretty well and will answer any questions.
