Well, as long as you attend his class regularly and show him that you're participating in class, well EASY A right here! :) I think he's really cool and a joker. HE'S THE MAN!
Mosh is a hard teacher but he makes his class fun and is always there to help if anyone needs it. I liked the class so much that a lot of us from his Math 11 class took his Math 12 class as well. That class was equally as awesome!
Mr. Mosh has good intentions, but cannot properly execute as a teacher. For a remedial math class, he expected us to apply formula's in an abstract manner in which true mathematicians do. He'd teach us one thing in the lessons then ask us completely questions on the exams. Take at your own risk, it's an extremely stressful class.
Extremely strict on attendance,1% taken off for trady, 2% for absences. Doesn't use textbook at all, uses his own notes. Never finishes a problem completely, even if asked to. When going over tests, he reviews them in like 5 minutes. Only take this class if you are a math and physics major because 50% of this class is physics. He is interesting tho
pay attention to the study guides and do homework. Dont stress too much on presentations..and tough it out, in the end it works out.
He is an OK teacher. A bit hard to follow because he goes over material fast and explains it in a VERY abstract way. I would not recommend him for those just wanting a "C" in a class. He will make you WORK!
I thought this class would be managable at first but then I took the first exam. Not only does he give an insane amount of homework but his tests are even harder. 70 percent of the class dropped by the time the first test came and more left afterwards. He knows his stuf but goes over everything in a rush dont take him.
Very good teacher, keeps the class focused, and is funny as well. Class does require you to study, but Mr. Mosh is always there to help if you need. Great teacher!
Hi Mosh, this is an opportunity to study and have fun at the same time!
Overall a good teacher. You have to come to class everyday. Does not collect homework but you must do them, it helps you on the exams. You have to do a group presentation at the end of the sections. It is very easy if you do everything that is require. If you do so you will get a good grad like I did.
He is a very funny teacher that helps you out when you ask for help, and he makes the class interesting.
He is a great teacher! TAKE HIM!
He is good teacher! he teaches very well and helps out whenever needed...you will not regret taking him
Very good teacher. Always willing to provide help when it is needed and offer lots of opportunities to make up points that you may have lost. Over all, great teacher and should be regarded highly!
Definitively Take him! He is a teacher you do not want to miss! Had a great time in his class while learning.
Nice professor. Knowledgable
Great teacher.
TAKE this teacher! One of the best Math teachers in De Anza!
Born in 1888, FMosh set out to be the best magician in the world. After beating houdini and bruce lee in a combined magic kung fu battle he dedicated his studies on learning how to fly. Comic books to this day tell his story as the man of steel , better known as Super Mosh. Seriously doe, gimme them 10 points.
A very helpful teacher and makes math a fun class to take. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!

Comic books to this day tell his story as the man of steel , better known as Super Mosh. His baldness is only attributed to his mach 3 flight speeds.
Take this class and you will be amazed
Take this class and you will be amazed
Knowledgable instructor. Great class. Highly recommend
A helpful teacher!!! You will learn a lot in this class.
Awesome teacher! Just make sure you show up to class and on time.
Card Genius Mosh, take his class and you will know how to play magic
must take this teacher!!
MOSH IS AN AWESOME INSTRUCTOR. IF YOU WANT UNDERSTAND STATISTICS, I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU TO ENROLL IN HIS CLASS.YOU WILL RECEIVE EASY POINTS PLUS HIGHER GRADE.
he is a good professor :))
Just take this teacher
great teacher, shows tricks with cards
Homework is simple
DON'T MISS CLASS.
he is a great teacher, you will learn, makes the class fun, take him!!!
totally take him!!
Fun teacher! Teaches very well but tests are kind of hard.
Great teacher. Awesome magic tricks. Show up and do all the work.
If you are interested in learning math along with having fun...then TOTALLY take him
Great teacher, keeps the class fun and incorporates a lot of real like examples into explaining the math. Take him is love physics and even if you don't you should still take him.
A teacher who really cares. Make sure you do all the assignments and you will need to study, but its a great class, and lots of fun!
Easy class, good teacher
It's a fun class and mosh is a cool teacher
Great teacher, keeps the class interesting by incorporating real life examples into the math that he is teaching. Take him if you love physics and even if you don't, you will still like the class.
BEST TEACHER EVER. Take him
Mosh is epic.
good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly, He is extremely hot, easy, clear, helpful, be able to answer all the question. His lecture is very clear. I have to tell that easy to get A as long as you study. HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
good fun and impressive!!!!!!!!
you are the best
Go take this class! GO. Mosh will make you learn all you need to know to succeed in math. He also makes it FUN.
makes math fun
do it now do it
he's a funny guy. BTW don't trust rate my professor. That is one big thing he taught us.
Great class
really great class, you will learn alot about statistics and real life usage stuff
super fun class man
mind blowingly good
makes math the greatest subject there is
keeps math fresh and interesting
fantastic class and teacher
You must take this class. Learned alot about stats even though it was difficult. All in all a very interesting class.
He offers lots of extra credits.
Really good extra credit opportunities.
Do the homework! Tests are insane.. But you'll learn.
Great professor, makes math fun
He is a really cool teacher. Will help you in any way possible for you to succeed.although tests are hard if you Be in class and do the hw...you should be fine.
Very conceptual teacher. Better learn why you are doing things instead of memorizing.
Very outgoing teacher, gives class extra credit when it is needed.
Go to class and do hw. thats all you need to do to pass. Tests are hard but its curved? not sure how it works.
Kinda wish my foundation in math was strong... Uses lots of examples from previous math courses. would be an easy class if I knew alot of old stuff.
Fun math. Lots of Magic Tricks. Make sure you study a lot. Other than that, easy A.
Great teacher. I have taken 4 math classes with Mosh and I have passed all of them with B+ and higher. If you do as he says and do all the homework and of course study for tests you will pass the class. He is also very helpful, and sometimes he do magic with cards which is very interesting.
Best teacher ever. Just do your homework and study for tests you will get an A.
Mr. Mosh is a good teacher. He has some rules which you have to follow, such as attendance, being on time, not missing any day and so on. He does not collect homework but you have to do them to practice for the tests. Don't be shy and go to his office hours and he will help you understand the material if you did not in class. Highly recommended.
good teacher, study alot and youll get an A
Follow his teaching method, do all homework, you will get A. I even skipped the final and still got A.
whoa at first I thought his class was hard and you know what I was wrong
He is a good teacher but unless your strength is in math to begin with you will struggle in his class. The lectures are way too fast paced and you must get it the first time or not at all. Students were dropping like flies due to this. The quiz was not cumulative but on last 3 chapters we had just learned 3 DAYS AGO! Fast paced and overwhelming..
Summer class: FAST PACED. As a mature student, I found this class a challenge, but learned a great deal. Mosh is engaging. His notes are focused but disorganized. I used online book. I showed my work by typing up a presentation, a statistic project for homework, studying with a partner, going to tutoring. Worth the effort.
Nice guy. Gave us extra credit for leaving him good comments on ratemyprofessors. :)
Super nice teacher! His class is difficult, but I have no regrets in taking it. I go to UC Davis, but I took a couple summer classes at De Anza to get ahead, and I was surprised by the level of teaching. My De Anza professors blew my Davis professors out of the water! Great class, great teacher.
As the other comment stated, this teacher gave us extra credit for writing positive reviews on this site. It's disgusting, actually. Avoid him!
You get out what you put in. Be prepared to WORK and learn a great deal. Fast paced. Rewarding. Tip: read "How to Lie With Statistics" to self-motivate. Mosh will lead. Try this class. TALK to him about GPA if that's worrying you. Show effort and you'll be fine. Not a passive class.
DOn'ttttttt take himmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm You'll regret it. makes you feel studpid, literally.
Took him in Fall 2010 for Calc 1A. Avoid him! He is fast pace. He puts some Calc 1B material in the class, like the second day of class. Very unclear. Expects you to know right away. Skips a lot of stuff. Take him if you are willing to do the hw he assigns and go to his office hours as well.
Hard to understand, expects the class to know everything. When wanting to ask questions he does not answer it were the student can understand. My advise is to keep away from his class.
Very hard teacher. Dumb project you have to do at the end of the quarter. He doesn't explain well. He is a nice guy overall just difficult class.
Very good teacher. Clear and concise. Knows what he is doing and cares about his students. Attend all classes and do your homework and you'll do fine. He goes over what will be on the exams. Just pay attention!
Mr. Mosh is an excellent teacher! Yes, he is fast pace, but I love it. I mean who wants to be in a class that drags. He's just refreshing our brains with things we learned back in the eighth grade and in high school. He's very helpful and his class was very easy to me. As long as you come to class everyday on time and pay attention, you're good.
Mr. Farshod treats his students like children, he will give you an assigned seats and is very strict in attendance. He expects students to know everything prior to coming to class and does not explain well. He has a deep accent that can be difficult to understand. Don't take his class unless you are desperate.
It's so hilarious seeing all the "good reviews" and the "hot" meter on high. Don't fall for it. He's giving his students extra credit to give him good reviews because he himself knows he's terrible. Take it from me, and all the real reviews, you're wasting your time and energy in this class. I HIGHLY recommend looking at other math teachers!!
Super fast pace. Doesn't explain that well. High expectations. He will have review days for midterm but not quizzes. Also, he wont give you review sheet or any hints on what's going to be on the test which leaves you clueless. You better be a math genius if you wanna survive his class. Grade really strict. Good luck! (Seriously, you'll need it)
Notorious at De Anza for being one of the most difficult instructors. and he is. Unless you want to learn. He is very quick witted and intelligent. He is very strict but hilarious. I was class clown, but always went to office hours and asked questions and pulled an A. He loves teaching and cares that you know the material. He will push u.
He is a really nice guy and will give you one on one help in his office hours, the only problem is that he isn't the greatest teacher. He expects way to much out of his students. One of the teachers that thinks his class should be your priority. Take him if you are really good at math already and pick concepts up fast
He seems like a decent guy, but his class is too hard! He wants you to learn how to prove all the identities instead of just memorizin them, which is good but its so hard to get because he teaches really fast! too fast for slow learners. and i know he may have really good office hours 1 on 1 session, but some people just dont have time to attend ;(
He really expects a lot from his students. He teaches really fast and if you aren't clear on something, make sure you figure it out fast! He's a nice guy with a lot of passion for math but his class requires a LOT of studying and memorizing proofs. Good luck if you take him, and try to go to his office hours.
I have taken 2 classes with Mr. Mosh and I have learned my lesson and will not next take a class with him again. He does not go over the material, he is always making mistakes as he goes along, is grade school strict, and is a really hard grader on top of it. He's a funny guy but not the teacher for those struggling with math.
I hated this class, he made such an easy class seem so much more difficult. He was unclear most of the time and his accent is quite thick. Stay clear from this prof.
Best teacher. Mosh always cracks jokes during his lectures and is super passionate about what he teaches. He covers his material thoroughly and is willing to take time to help those in need. Although he has a few strict policies (ie no food/drinks/hats/sunglasses etc.) he is definitely worth it.
I cannot believe I did it again I thought I failed but I end up passing. For the math class you got to listen to what he is saying or else you would fail. Always bring a calculator even if you cannot afford one. He will make you work hard and if you accept you will succeed. Keep working hard
helpful....
This teacher is the worst teacher I have ever had at De Anza. If you want to learn nothing and probably fail take him. I recommend joel hansen. He is a great teacher that cares about his students
This class is super easy. Mosh is funny and puts a lot of effort into teaching. Really goes out of his way to help students pass. All you gotta do is ask! So Many extra credit opportunities. I'm taking him again for math 41 in the fall.
Understanding, and helpful
Very helpful with any problem you might have. Will explain in greater detail if you go to his office hours. Do go to class everyday to make sure you pass.
A really great guy. Really cares about all of his students and would love to see them all pass with flying colors. He's actually pretty good with card tricks too. A really good teacher.
Mosh is the kind of professor that isn't afraid to challenge you, and I mean that in the best way possible. While his work can seem to be a bit daunting at times, conquering the work is extremely satisfying. He's a really funny guy too. Be sure to be on time!
Definitely one of the better math professors I've taken here. Goes into great detail if you don't quite understand a question or concept.
Mosh is a great teacher and is very friendly. If you dont understand anything, go to his office hours and he will help.
Mr. Mosh is an extremely helpful proffesor. If you have problems he will help you in his office. On Friday's you get to work on your homework in class. He is very lenient and fair with his exams and often extends homework dates. As long as you put in the effort you will succeed. Go to class because the one thing that annoys him is bad attendance.
Had him before, and as usual, he is nice and cares about his students. He teaches a bit fast, but don't be afraid to ask questions if you do not understand. Understanding and lenient.
Professor Mosh is really smart when it comes to calculus. He changed his methods to make it easier on the students and for them to pass the class. hes a great professor and if you want to get a good grade i suggest you take him.
Professor Mosh is very strict to students. He starts the class 5 minutes earlier and cuts points for being on time. His exams are extremely hard. Since He does not have a good command in English, his explanations are confusing. He is not helpful during office hours either. Additionally, I had to understand various concepts of physics for his class.
40% of math and 60% of physic.
Exams are very tough. Mr Mosh is not really helpful. There are always way too many people in his office and most of the time he does not have time to answer your questions. I had only As in all math classes before. I hardly got a C in this class.
Highly disappointed. He doesn't know how to teach the subject. Don't take him for precalculus 43 - you will suffer. I dropped his class and retook it with someone else.
I took this class and withdrew. Half of the class dropped just because it was so hard. Mosh should not be teaching math 41-43. He focuses on some physics. Used Web assign instead of the book, hated web assign. His tests are just insane, does not go by the book. I got a W and took another teacher, and got an A. So glad I withdrew from Mosh's class.
there are few teachers who can teach and few who cannot. Mosh falls in the latter category. If you want to put the effort and take help from other teachers/student/tutors to barely pass this class. Go Ahead. Extremely hard tests and grader.
Most people said Mr Mosh is hard but I think his is not. It is because the lecture is hard. He is a interesting teacher and willing to help students. I got an A in his class. If you are looking for a eassy A class, do not take him. Follow his difrection, you can do it, too. Do the homework!
Mr. Mosh is a very good teacher. I didn't do well in math in high school. He opened my mind to mathematics. I became very interested and I owe that to Mr. Mosh. He is very inspirational.
Mr. Mosh is a very inspiring teacher. He taught us so much useful information. This was information I didn't learn in high school. I was so grateful for being in his class. I felt I learned so much. He is a a great teacher and I left his class with a new desire to learn more. He is very patient and helpful and I always felt he was there for us.
Mr. Mosh is a very good teacher. He cares about his students. He makes practical applications through card tricks and even interests the community through showing his prowess at our Cupertino library. Make sure your kids check him out, he's awesome. He makes math makes come alive . There are so few teachers like him. Bravo!!
I was very interested in statistics and probability, even though my math ability was low. I felt I learned a lot from the class, even though my previous math education was just at this level. I struggled with the information but not my any fault of Mr. Mosh. Statistics is hard, but Mr. Mosh is pretty awesome. I wish I was able to absorb more.
I dont feel I will ever take math again because of Mosh, he took all the interests I had left out of math. Even though I worked my best but I never felt inspired or motivated. The tests were extremely hard. Thanks for mosh for making me stupid.
Professor Mosh is a cool guy. If you do your HW all week you don't need to come to class on Fridays. He isn't funny in class but when he is he's hilarious. He goes over the problems you didn't understand on the hw almost every day. I'm definitely taking his class next quarter since tree isn't much math classes with Fridays off.
Horrible professor. Mosh is extremely inconsistent, unclear, and confusing. The required homework has absolutely nothing to do with the class material, he does not use the book at all but rather sends his students disorganized word documents written in broken english, and his tests are impossible to finish in time. Avoid this professor!
Mosh is a great teacher if you come to class on time, do your homework, and work hard. If you are lazy don't take this class, if you love math take this class because Mr. Mosh is an awesome teacher. Study the labs and do your homework. He posts questions on the tests from the labs. :)
Mr mosh is a nice and interesting teacher. He gives extra credits for those students who come to class on time every day. You don't have to buy text book for his class, only print out his handout. Tests are based on the homework, lab and lecture, also he'll give practice which is similar to the test. If you do all your work you will get good grade.
Mr. Mosh is a fantastic guy, he has a good personality and is very friendly and open to talk to. As a teacher, he isn't terrible but he isn't good as well. I barely learned anything, and used mindless formulas, and surprisingly that got me an A after scoring an F on the first test. This course is out of 100 points, nothing is weighted.E.C is given.
His class is very useless. Hard to understand. The midterms are very hard and irrelevant with his class. I did not bad in the midterm, got 12 out of 20 in the first and 14 in the second. I got extra credit. I did well in presentation. I got 100% for my homework. I still got an C. Who the hell know why? And he never reply your email.
if your struggle with math in any way shape or form, do yourself a favor and DO NOT take this class. mosh is unclear in his teaching, puts down students and makes mistakes more often than not in his math. made me want to drop out of school.
Not forgiving. Not helpful. Demanding.
He is the best, if you do your homework and come to class on time.
Mosh is strict on attendance (he has his own point system). He also has some ground rules in class, but they are nothing major. His lectures are actually really helpful, and the textbook is rarely used as homework is done online. If you approach him for help, he will show you how to solve the problem in detail. He's really not as bad as others say.
Online, post-class, multi-choice quizzes out of 20. The questions were nearly impossible and you could only see one question at a time. It told you if your answer was right, so about 15 of us got together and basically took turns guessing, eventually one of us would guess right, and we'd do the same for the next questions. It was pretty brutal.
Unclear and obfuscates his exams. The first exam was an assessment test and everyone did poorly because of the roundabout way it was worded in. He also gives out group assignments/projects/video presentations. Math should not involve construction paper crafting and video projects. A bit creepy on the whole video thing if you ask me...
I mostly like his class. I like his lecturing style. It is just fast enough to keep you awake, but not so fast you cannot keep up. I like that we have lab and group work. I also like that he expects students to respect the class. However, I have to admit, his test made me cry for like three days and I am pretty sure I am not going to pass.
He's just rude and starts badmouthing american culture most of the time. Too extreme with rules for a college class, I had to take my brother to the hospital because of a seizure and he dropped me from the class cause I had 2 lates. Very demeaning to students. He's raycisttt af
I really liked his class. all you have to do is show up on time and pay attention. effort is definitely required to pass but its worth it. his homework is all online and hes a pretty funny guy!!!
he is a good professor that he is helpful. there is two exams and presentation. he does not use textbook.the best of him is he's friendly and he will teach you until you are absolutely understand but i think he can teach more slowly! but i still recommend you guys to take his class
Nice guy, but likes to give you lots of difficult physics related problems. Tests are hard; there were only a few people with passing grades by the end of the quarter, so he graded based on effort.
2-4 hours of WebAssign homework (tortuous) per section. Extra hw assignments frequently. Expects you to know physics, altho it's not a prereq. I have nothing against the man as a person, but his class gives me stress headaches. Be prepared to do 4 or more hrs of work per class hour. He is approachable and listens to you, but workload is too high.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He is a funny guy, but he is aggressive, and really demanding with the work he teaches really poorly. I feel like he holds people at high expectations in the way that he expects us to know physics and other subjects we clearly dont know. Mosh will also give a five to ten minute speech on how we are doing poorly.
DO NOT TAKE! Horrible teacher, I asked for help the whole quarter and received none. Recorded tons of absences for me when I only had a couple--dropped my grade 15%! Loves word problems on tests but you hardly practice in class. Asked admins for help, and also received none. Video projects=final review, when one chapter wasn't even covered. AWFUL
Mosh asks a lot of his student. He goes over more material than other classes and he goes through is faster. His tests are also incredibly difficult because they are all 5 questions and he does not give out much partial credit. I believe the averages were about 40-50% on his tests from what I could see.
Awful awful awful! This professor is irrational and inconsiderate. He doesn't follow the textbook and his questions are almost rocket science. Please do not take this professor under any circumstance. Even the most active students in class did not pass. This professor is a one way ticket to a lower GPA and no understanding of the material.
Do Not take his classes. Stay away from this guy. I repeat Do not take his classes.
Mr. Mosh taught Pre-Algebra at SJCC and I absolutely loved him. I am an older student so my brain needs REPITITION!! If you don't understand the concept he comes up with different ways to explain.
Hate to blast the guy buuut Doesn't teach by a book, gives handouts with typos that don't explain how to do the proofs. Doesn't respond to emails. No office hours for summer classes. Maybe it really was my problem, but he didn't make any effort to help other than to blame my previous professorsthe tutoring center for not preparing me for Calc 1B.
He is a knowledgeable prof He can answer every question u ask. If u are really good at math, it is a good choice to take his class. I worked every hard, and often went to his office hours. I got an A at last. He helped me a lot on Math. His class is difficult, but I really learned a lot, even beyond the textbook. Thanks a lot.
He is like an AMAZING religion! Dedicating his life into bringing up a better generation. REGRETTING for NOT knowing him earlier. ENJOYING taking his courses for quarters. And Still, DISCOVERING his great powerful knowledge. All questions in exams are known ahead of time. NOTHING is BETTER coming to class with a feeling of GREAT PLEASURE.
In order to succeed and to really enjoy Mosh's infamous lectures, you really have to know the material ahead of time. Only take his class if you have a strong foundation in math, he goes at a rapid pace in comparison to other teachers. What made his lectures stand out from other professors is that he goes above and beyond the textbook.
He is easy and you can learn a lot from him.
Just take him n you'll get tons of knowledge
Mosh reaches above and beyond for his students. He has rediscovered my passion for math and helps us apply it outside the classroom. If you take his class, you will get more than you bargained for and in a good way. The class is tough but you will come out with much more knowledge in math, physics, engineering and everything else. A true teacher!
The worst professor I have ever taken at De Anza. His class has very little structure and he gives out extra credit for leaving a positive rate my professor review. STAY AWAY FROM HIM. He teaches concepts far beyond what you need to know for basic remedial math and even includes them on the test. HW is not related to the tests.
What stood out: weighed each student the first week for "statistics" & didn't see why it was uncomfortable. He assigned a huge group project at the end & instead of giving us work time we watched moon landing hoax vids! He wants you to succeed if you try, but no sympathy. Condescending sense of humor overpowers knowledge on math, unfortunately.
Don't take him if you have a job andor taking other classes. He wants everyone to work together to do the quiz, homework and practice problems. It is a really hard class so get prepared to be a self learner. The lectures don't really help.
He is my best teacher ever! For the first time sitting in his class, I was so afraid that I would not pass this class because he looked strict and the lessons seemed harder than other classes. But believe me, you will love him after just 2 weeks. He cares of every student. He is so nice & helpful! The one who is good at Math will love Math more!
Mosh is a rare gem. I've been taking him since Math 42 and he taught me mathematisc like no one else. He does a lot of physics applications (ps.: if you are thinking "I don't wanna do that!" I hope your major is unrelated to STEM). He is tough but really good hearted and will reward you for you hard work. The instructor I ever had. Also hilarious.
I don't really know how my review got deleted, but I'm here to tell you to completely avoid taking Mosh. His teaching methods are confusing and inconsistent, and doesn't follow the textbook. His exams are extremely hard. He is really not worth it, unless you want to ruin your GPA.
avoid him if you still care about GPA! GPA ruiner! just 10 persons pass the midterm. test are pretty hard, i show my test paper to my friend who is taking same level class with another teacher, he said he cannot understand what says on my test paper. trust me,love life, leave Mosh
He is a great teacher if you you value his class. He gave good feedback and he is willing to answer any questions that you may have.
REAL RATING He is very hard nd if you're looking for an easy A: He is not for u. However he WILL HELP you if you ask for help. He is funny and good hearted. When teaching his students, he comes from a good place. Real smart guy. I dnt have a good background wt Math but helped me when I asked. Def prepares u for physics nd higher math, u engineers
Be prepared to self teach. Take another professor , avoid him at at costs. Lectures are fast and dont make sense and do not correlate with the textbook
Mosh is a TERRIBLE teacher. I would avoid him at all costs. He rushes through all the material. We finished covering all material about 2 weeks before the quarter was over just to make video presentations that seemed pointless in learning. His tests are insanely difficult. His handouts are unorganized and don't make much sense.
Mosh is a great teacher, who will provide help if u ask. Couple of tips, ATTEND CLASS EVERY DAY, if you skip more than 3 days, you lose points, and you need every single point. He doesn't collect hw, but you MUST do it to succeed in his class. If you ace the first two midterms, and have an A before the final, you don't have to take the final!
Professor Mosh teaches you everything you need to know about math, and its relation to physics! However, you need to work really hard to earn a good grade. Attend every class lecture, do the homeworks assigned because exams are taken from the homework! ASK QUESTIONS because Mr. Mosh will answer all of them. He takes you seriously!
One of the best Professor in De Anza. Only 2 midterms and some group quizzes, you don't have to take final if you already got an A before final.
Horrible professor! His teaching method is confusing and his class has little to no structure. don't be fooled by the poitive ratings, they're far from the truth. If you want to be in a well structured class and learn math, don't take his class.
Mosh is the worst professor I have ever encountered. Do NOT take him.
Professor Mosh is hilarious and is very clear in explaining the concept. 2 midterms, 1 final and 5 group quiz. Exams are all based on group quiz, which you can take home and discuss with your classmates. Just study the group quiz before the test, then u will do fine. Would definitely take him again. There is no answer for his textbook's question.
Courses should be designed to help you succeed, not make you fail. Nearly everyone dropped. He doesn't use a textbook, which is fine, but his lectures lack clear direction and are mostly unclearconfusing. In class he doesn't give you a chance to do examples, he does them. Instead of helping you if you're confused he shames you for not knowing.
2 midterms, 1 final, a few take home group quizzes and that's it!! You don't have to take the final if you already have an A. However, homework is a must because exam is exactly from the homework. I wish I could take him again. Highly recommend!
Best mathematics teacher in De Anza. His class is really easy because everything makes perfect sense, however, his class could be challenging. Work hard on the handouts, then you will be fine.
Long story short: if your not a genius in math, or if your not willing to dedicate at least 3 hours a day doing his class's work, he will confuse the hell out of you, guaranteed. In my honest words, his class seems set up for failing any and all students who are not in the top notch math students
This was by far the worst teacher I've ever had. Unclear, arrogant, and disorganized. He seems like a nice guy at first, but he puts you down when you go ask him for help, saying things like "how did you pass 1A, 1B, 1C". I've almost learned nothing from him. The material itself is fine, but avoid him if you don't want to self-learn everything.
He is a little hard to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be okay. In order to do well in the class, you have to study. It's not an easy A, so if that's what you're expecting, don't take him. If you actually want to learn, then do. It's college though, you have to get used to studying and putting in effort to pass your classes.
Best professor ever. Exams are straight from the HW. Copy and paste. Do the HW and you'll pass.
Mosh is the bomb. No jokes! He really is a great teacher. It's just that he expects a lot from his students. He's willing to help you and even hints it to you. His exams and quizzes are based off homework. His lecture notes and homework can be confusing and difficult to do, so ASK QUESTIONS!
Just make it simple: do not take him if you have other choices. He's mean and does not care about students. Common, there are other good professors at De Anza. AVOID him.
Mosh is AMAZING. I entered the class thinking it was going to be brutal, but it was a typical college class. A ton of hard work + extremely interesting lectures. He even managed to include lectures on black holes! This is a guy who knows his stuff very well, and students who miss out a chance to take him are losing out on intellectual stimulation.
He is the best prof. in De Anza. Just go take him.
Bottom line - mathematical genius but has no idea how to teach to students. It's like a different language. The only ones who understand his applications are the top notch physics and engineering majors. Makes you ignore your other classes. Practices favoritism, difficult to understand, sets impossible expectations. Take someone else.
Watch out for the positive ratings on here. It was said that the exam questions are the same as the HW problems, this is true. However, the answer key is made by your current classmates (and may be wrong) and did I mention its close to impossible to finish all the HW problems (CORRECTLY) before the midterm? Watch out.
I think the tests and quizzes are very hard because half of the class got C+.he is very helpful and nice. You should spend 6 hours on weekend to study to pass the tests.
He's a good teacher, but his grading is really tough. If you want an A, you have to get every question right on the tests. Barely any extra credit.
Horrible. Just horrible. I have cussed myself out for taking him instead of another class time that was working for me. Ruined my GPA. Take him if your dumb enough to, stay away if you have any sense. Someone needs to tell him that we are not engineers yet so we should stop being treated like we all have degrees already.
All the exam questions are from the homework. Yes, some of the questions may be difficult but as he has repeated many times that he will answer any homework question, if asked. Now, I did 85% of the homework, and took 2 other courses over summer and got a B. This is college, take advantage of your resources and it is possible to get an A.
At the beginning of the course, he makes you think of math in a different way. But once you realize the class average on the first test was a 620, and that 2540 students dropped the class, you know theres a problem. He doesn't use a textbook instead, he uses his own packets, which are poorly written. He is uncompromising with grades and kills GPA
I took his classes 3 years ago and without his help of me understanding math and solving problems in other subjects ie chem and physics I would have never made it to Berkeley! Got to say, you have to know the basics and if you don't know just ask and camp at his office . One of the best if not the best!
If you pay attention and do the homework you'll do very well. Mosh will answer any homework question in class and the tests are just homework problems. If you want an A, ask questions and practice a lot. There are 2 group projects where one is literally just doing the homework and the other you make a video about a chapter.
Greatest professor ever. Take him if you can
Best lecture bravo!
Be careful who you sit next to, class is only out of 80 points. Labs assigned with each chapter, 4 points each 5 labs total, 2 midterms each is 20 points, the participation is the attendence 10 points, then the group project at the end is 10 points. Respect his syllabus and you'll get an A. Assigned seating as well so attendance is easier.
the class is easy if you have a good back ground in math. sometimes he makes the concepts confusing, also be aware that all of his classes need to make a 40-50 min video about one of the captures of class. attendance and being on time is very important for him and he cares a lot about it.
so far best teacher i have ever had, lots of people said he was confusing but honestly PAY attention and you will get it. I hate math and this teacher was the first one to change that for me, look over your test that he sends to prep cause its normally the same thing for the real test!
He will favor students who would sign up for his class next semester. Though his tests are from homework itself, but they are really hard, like spend 20 hours doing the homework problems hard. He gives extra credit opportunities. No clear system of grading.
He takes exam questions straight from hw so you MUST DO ALL OF IT to do well. Do not take the class if you're not willing to spend time on it. He is very clear with his expectations--do the work and ask questions if you need help, come to class prepared, etc. I spent maybe 12 hours a week on this class to do well. I am not a genius. It is possible
For some reason, refuses to use a textbook. Instead he makes his own packets, which don't make sense half the time because his English grammar is beyond terrible. His tests recycle homework questions, but the homework takes over 15-20 hours to complete and are insanely hard, so you basically wouldn't have seen the tests qs before. Overall horrible
2 A's out of 30 people who attempted to take the class. 15 drops. Merciless grader who doesn't curve even when the class average is well bellow 50% on a test. He seems like a great teacher in the beginning, but becomes progressively confusing. There are better options for a Calc teacher. Take them.
I didn't know his class was introductory Statistics, cause this guy was teaching stuff way beyond the curriculum. Most irritating part was that he wouldn't use a textbook.
Farshod Mosh teaches Calculus for physics fans. I liked his teaching style, and he was one of the best math teachers I know. That said, I have to warn students who took it easy in trigonometry courses to buck up and review. His handouts are better than the textbook. Try to be inspired do great at math, or else you'll get post-test stress. Try!!
Pro tip, look at the thumbs up and down on the reviews. Also, go look at his page in SJSU. Very suspicious that his scores are so skewed. He may go on here to post his own reviews.... Don't take this class. Run. Does 1D problems in 1B. I also hear that he is teaching theory of relativity in 1C. Be warned.
Avoid him. When it comes to exam, He picks up just 5 problems straight from almost 200 very tough assignment problems. The worst matter is the answer he gives us is made by student and there are tons of mistakes. We need to live in math tutoring center to complete all of problems. Contents is math 1D not 1B. Don't take him.
I love his personality, he is so open and friendly. Genius professor. BUT his exam is ridiculously hard. I got a A and A- in math 1A and 1B. But I got a C in his fall class. Prepare for yourself to spend at least 3 hours EVERYDAY if you want to get A.
Learned a lot with Mosh for both IB and IC. I joined and formed a study group. I did live and dream math the whole time. A friend transferred to SLO, and she liked the course. I transferred to UCLA, and so did another person from my study group. If you take IA with him and found him difficult, then by all means add a different section instead.
Mosh is a fun teacher and it's easy to enjoy his class. However, he was very confusing and unclear. If you're taking a new subject you know nothing about, you probably won't do well in his class. Other than that, Mosh is a nice guy and can joke with his students. He is willing to help with any questions you may have.
At first I had high hopes for passing this class but once we got into chapter 2 and 3 I realized he doesn't go over the homework in class so you must look for outside help. If you take his class be ready to spend hours with other classmates to go over the hw and labs. He doesn't care about your economic position, expects you to be a genius everyday
I took Mosh for three quarters straight. He is very thorough about what he is expecting from the class. Usually his classes are M-F but if you finish your hw before the end of the week you are not required to go to Friday Class. He's super chill and is always there to help you if you ask for it. By far he's been my favorite teacher.
Worst teacher ever.
this class was easy and didn't require a lot of work. The people who have been complaining about him are probably the lazy ones who expect everything to be handed to them and never study. If u actually spend time to go over ur notes before a test u will do fine. Also if u are happy w/ ur grade before the final u don't have to take it u just show up
English is not his first language. There is no textbook, only an incomprehensible packet. The lectures are interesting but he does not cover the concepts. Instead the essentials are buried under spurious information. The tests are very difficult and different from the study guide. The time crunch is real. He will not teach you. You must learn solo.
Good teacher! Many students who took his class aren't okay with his accent, but it's not that bad. Didn't do the homework? Don't expect a good exam score. His homework is hard, but that's what office hour is for and his exams are from the homework. Try to form a study group outside of class to go over homework and study. It's a lot of help.
Pretty hard. He is the worst teacher.
My favourite treacher in De Anza. Extremely knowledgeable and passionate. However, if you don't have a strong foundation, I suggest you pick another teacher.
Mr. Mosh is nice and enthusiastic. However, you are required to have strong foundation of math. It's better to take his classes in series so you won't get lost when he talks about things you are supposed to know which other professors don't teach you. I got A+ in 1A and 1B but have no clue what he is talking about.
His class is a lot of time investment to restudy if you have a weak foundation. He doesn't teach calculus at the surface level, so if you breezed by previous classes with cheat sheets and no conceptual understanding, you're slightly screwed & keeping up in class will be VERY tough. You need tbh w yourself on whether to stay or drop (wish i did).
His tests are super hard. Please kill me. He tries to be funny at first. Attendance matters. Quiz is hilarious.
I love you, Mr. Mosh!!!! No textbook save money!
He is a worst teacher ever. Avoid him at all cost
Straight to the point: All of these other reviews have truth to them. Good lecturer, you HAVE to know /learn the basics, lots of uncollected HW. This teacher is like a double-edged sword. IF you have the drive to work yourself every day you WILL get better at math. His class VERY incompatible with students with students who aren't going to go 100%.
If you breezed through other calculus classes, just avoid Mosh. The "textbook" he writes is disorganized and no help. If you have no background in physics (like he assumes everyone in this class should), you basically won't be able to understand any of the lectures.
OMG. The c;ass is too hard, I go off to much the topic. Please kill me. Ruin your GPA.
easy mosh, easy life! study and get an easy A
Best math professor. Actually he's not that hard if you would follow him in class and do his homework. Questions in exams are from homework or lectures. Totally five take-home quizzes could be harder, but you're encouraged to solve them with your group members. This professor teaches you much more things than others. Take his to go further in math!
He is really good and knows the stuff really well.
The class is heavy on discipline. Don't arrive late, be organized, etc. Memorize everything he tells you to, and don't expect to get away with not doing what he says. If this is your last math class, for the love of God don't take Mosh's class. But he prepares you for future math classes better than any other professor would. He's pretty funny too.
He's a good teacher if you're engineering student
He goes over the material almost twice faster than other professors and his explanation is kind of too brief. Since he has his background in some physics field, he throws so many electromagnetic-related problems even though this is a math class. Overall he's not bad, but if you are not very confident in the subject, you should go find someone else
Very good teacher. Points are earned not given. A lot of extra credit opportunities. Although I failed in his class, I would still take him again because he is fair.
Mosh class homework. There is no going around the actual flying solo with the homework, and then double-checking with your study group. Geek out with his notes, and read Earl W. Swokowski (Classic Edition) if you need a reference. Totally recommend this class for physics. (Hint: To boost G.P.A. go take a Vietnamese (First Quarter), etc...)
GPA worth sacrifice, cls is real world oriented, demands respect, attention and diligence, be that show to OH or extra collabs with classmates on hw, cls kept fresh, 1day felt like I was playing poker against a dealer, anthr conceptualized math-physics models, anthr ingenious self defense subtext actualized, anthr engineer insight, inspirational
Prof. Mosh is a decent teacher but if you are not good at math, do not take his class. He rushes through lectures and if you take notes during class like I do, I hope you can write quickly. By the time you have it mostly written down, he's moving on to the next concept. He is a fair grader but needs to seriously slow down his lectures.
Very knowledgeable teacher, but REALLY THINK IF you want to take him for higher level math. He teaches concepts of differential equations to his Calc students, and teaches expecting most students know the content already when he should know most professors atleast at De Anza don't teach this material to calc students. Also has a weird grade system
I took his math 10 class on fall 2016 and it was so easy. His quizzes are coming from his lab. If you do the labs, you will get the whole grade. If you be 90% of his class, you don't need to do finaaaaaal. It was so easy. Hi is so respectful but the only think you need to do is respect his class and work in your group.
The WORST math teacher in the whole universe! Gave everybody 2 points out of 10 for participation for no reason! Tests are weird, no partial credit, no extra credit! He's so arrogant about himself being the best teacher there is when it's actually the other way around. AVOID him if you can! That's why his class is always the last one to be full.
Taught in an extremely confusing way, tried to use chemistry/physic concepts to teach. The handouts are extremely confusing and error-filled that make them even more difficult to understand. Take it with a grain of salt: I was told by that the rest of the class ended up dropping before the quarter's end. (Currently in Math 1A)
He is one of the worst math professors in De Anza. More than half the class dropped. He makes the class more difficult if you don't do it his way. If you do it your way, then your answers are wrong, even though it is right. Don't take him!
Great at explaining, you will definitely learn at his class. Quiz done in groups, exam's individual, don't have to do well in finals if prior to finals your grade is good (finals just for helping final grade)
Definitely would not recommend. He doesn't follow the same teaching syllabus the other teachers have. Furthermore, he's even racist against Chinese students. He always makes negative comments that end with "___, especially you Chinese students" or start with "Chinese people ____". He's strict about unnecessary things, like not wearing hats.
His entire class is out of 100 points so every little point counts. There isn't really homework which is nice but his test aren't easy. I thought he was a good professor. He wants you to pass, I'd take him again.
Awful professor. Over half the class dropped. Class is graded out of very few points, &only based on tests/20 pt & quizzes/10pt so very easy to fail. U have to teach yourself if u want to pass. Attendance is mandatory& he will drop u. Makes slightly offensive jokes so if you're sensitive, he's not your guy. Final's optional/10pts. My first F @ De A
Cool guy, but he goes far beyond the scope of what the merely above average student has signed up for. This class is for legit engineer/physics majors or top students ONLY. Ivy League & UC friends couldn't even solve one of my hw probs. You know which category you belong to. Take him only if u can handle it, not bc he's your last option.
2 tests, 2 exams, 1 presentation, 1 final (you may not have to take depending if you're happy w/ your grade). Attendance matters! The tests/exams are hard if you don't understand the hwk. The presentation is graded by peers, not him. Presentation isn't hard. He's intimidating but a good professor. Textbook was made by him, sends it through email
I went to his office hours when I took multi-variable calculus with the guy. Back then, his office was literally a storage place, and he tried to decorate it with Chinese calligraphy (Chinese paint brush painting). He said he was trying to learn Chinese culture back then. Thus, he comes up with "generalized tends" and commentate during class...?
He's really smart, so his lectures move fast. Ask questions and go to office hours or you'll fall behind. You'll be spending a lot of time studying math so take an easy quarter. Test questions draw from the quiz and hw questions, but there is a lot of hw so start early. Gives some extra credit opportunities; take them because every point counts.
Prof. Mosh is generally the most respectful professor in De Anza. Basically, he demands a lot of efforts to get a good grade without giving clear solutions. His lecture is mostly based on the PHYSICS, yet very helpful and inspirational toward the students who major in ENGINEERING FIELD!!! Wanna recommend him but the materials will be SUPER TOUGH!!!
Mosh is an intelligent Math instructor. But his teaching material is very difficult. Homework problems are hard to solve, so mostly you will need to ask him questions. He doesn't collect homework, but expects you to do homework. If you don't practice homework/take-home group quiz problems, you won't get a good grade on exams.
He is one of those two attitude people. If you took his class before and he knows about you, he will give much more extra attention to you. Else, like me, never took his class before, NEVER received ANY reply email. He though he was smartest person, love to off topic, you can learn and the only way is by yourself. HIGHTLY NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.
Test questions were straight from the hw. Optional Final. Video review project is a bit tedious but it is a group project and everyone gets at least 8/10 on it. Don't be a pain and you'll be fine. One dude lost a whole letter grade because he would not leave his coffee outside the room even though he was politely asked to do so multiple times
I've taken pre calc in high school and calc, his methods were entirely different even the textbook didn't have it. I'd ask higher level math students for help but even they would say it's ridiculously hard for a precalc level. DON'T RECOMMEND
Don't take Mosh if you have heavy time constraints or are easily offended or don't plan on taking more than 1 class with him. If you are an engineer or physics major then mosh is the only math teacher at De Anza that you should consider. People that complain about the difficulty of his classes are in for a rude awakening if they plan to transfer.
he's not as bad as people say. 2 exams, 4 group quizzes, and a presentation. class was straightforward, exams directly taken from hw. come to his office hours and ask questions, he'll explain everything. the material was harder than average math43 class though.
Mosh is a very smart teacher, no doubt. However, his lectures DO NOT appeal to his students at all. You will most likely take gruesome class notes but you're still confused at the end of the day. He expects you to finish homework and have his lessons memorized by the time you take the next class. It's doable, but you must dedicate your time to it.
Professor Mosh will make you work for a good grade. His lectures are fast but informative, and he gives a lot of homework (although many of the problems were kind of useless). In Math 43, there are 2 exams, 4 group quizzes, and an optional final. Personally, I think his class is more for people who will major in Math or Physics.
Engineering majors may benefit from this teaching style, but if your major doesn't require higher math then don't take him.
Just don't. He is pretty bad. He is vague, he talks pretty fast, and his class notes make little to no sense. He can be slightly offensive as well. The labs are so much work and you are rewarded so little for it. You have to show work the way he wants to so if you deviate from his way at all, you're screwed even though your answer is correct.
If you want to challenge yourself on STEM courses, then take it. He goes a lot in depth on applications and how each equation is essential to one another. I believe he is the smartest math professor in the department, which makes it difficult to get an A in the class. If you absolutely understand every lecture bit-by-bit, then his tests are easy :)
Mosh has his own course line so it's better to take his class all the way. Pay attention to his lectures and do homework 'cause it will help you get a better grade. The class is hard and so are the tests, so getting an A is not easy. But his class will help more for those majoring in engineering. If you want to go deeper into math, take his class.
His style of teaching is definitely different than other math professors. He gives hard, but insightful lectures on math because he wants people to major in it. If you show your best interest and dedication to him, he will most likely pay attention to you. You might even become the "Teacher's pet". Mosh will absolutely know if a student works hard.
He is not bad, if you do his homework three times you will be fine to take tests. Since he wants to explain a lot on class to make sure that student understand the concept, his lecture is unclear.... I can't fit into his style, and got my first B..
Mosh expects you to understand his teaching even though it is very difficult to understand. He doesn't grade lightly so many points are always taken off. Many people failed his class in the fall quarter and blames the students when it's his responsibility to help students understand what he's teaching. Would not recommend if you struggle in math
attendance is mandatory in order to get everything. he is really funny. he makes sure you get the material, dont be afraid to ask! don't get too close to him or else he will call on you on lectures to answer his questions.
When I first started I was really scared of Mosh. The class seemed very hard in the beginning and I tanked my first midterm. After a little bit of studying and listening to the lectures the class became extremely easy. Mosh is funny and the lectures are interesting. His knowledge of science make the class perfect for science and engineering majors
1A1B were the most challenging math classes I had yet. Due to his fast lecturing style, I advise that you buy his notes for your class on the website, funformath, several weeks before the quarter starts and start reading and practicing HW problems. Ask him if you can sit in one of his classes to see if he is right for you. Ask Q! Grade:1A: B, 1B: A
He is a caring professor. If you do all homework in a textbook, you got A in exams.
Lectures pretty fast. He wants you to be engaged during lectures and ask a lot of questions. He wants his students to do well. Doesn't want to give students bad grades, so he gives little boosts and curves here and there. Reasonable grader. Grades are pretty much based on quizzes and exams, so you have to perform when it counts.
Currently at Berkeley and Mosh prepared me well for it. Hes a lot of work, and you cant get by in his class unless you understand the material comprehensively. Take him while you can.
4 take home quizzes (5-8 questions), 2 exam, 4 board quizzes only for a whole quarter. Exams are fully based on his material and quizzes, so easy to get an A. Almost no homework, so you don't have to pay a lot of extra works if you can understand his lecture.
He makes you think he knows what's talking about, but when you look at the curriculum setup of his calculus class; he basically taught you nothing but the first few practice problems over each chapter. Conclusion: you learn better by reading the book on your own.
Active and engaged student? Then, take Prof. Mosh. Youll need to study before class to take advantage of his interactive style (non-typical lectures). He knows Calculus in depth, explains the reasons behind everything and makes you think. He cares about you learning, not just applying formulas. All previous Calculus make sense to me now.
He doesn't just give you formulas and when/how to use them, he makes you fully digest where it comes from and why their results make sense. He applies his teachings to many fields including relativistic physics and astronomy. Very caring and very entertaining class. Be prepared to have all your previous professors trash-talked though.
Mosh's class was very difficult in the beginning and this was clearly reflected in 10 students dropping the class within the first week and eventually 18 students total dropping by the end of the quarter. However, if you put in the effort he will notice and offer many opportunities for students to receive extra points. Ask questions and good luck!
This professor made me love math! He is super helpful and after he got to know the class better after a few weeks he made sure to shift his teaching ways for our better understanding. Hes super inspiring. One of a kind Professor! Being in his class, time flies because of how much fun and helpful his classes are!
Lectures unhelpful; too fast and too brief, covers concepts more than specifics. Tests/quizzes right from hard to understand, broken English notesyou can definitely pass in his class if you study really hardlike 20+ hours a weeksolely on learning every single proof. But you're learning a lot on ur owndefinitely better professors/ways to learn.
Terrible. The whole entire time I had no clue what was going on in class. He has was very strict and had a bad attitude. If you asked a question he would question you and then proceed to say that he was confused as to you didn't know the question. Also, on tests and quizzes most of the material that was covered didn't seem to math from classwork/Hw
He's a great prof. First time in his class but I can feel like it's an upper division class. Idk how he grades but can tell that he deeply understands everything he says. If you want to transfer, take him to learn, not only to get good grade. He might be harder than other profs, but he prepares students very well for UCs level. Trying my best.
This is my second time taking Mosh, he is a wonderful teacher! Do not be scared of him on the first day. He has rules and you must follow his rules, no hats in class, have all of your materials especially a calculator every day! Attendance is huge! YOU MUST BE IN CLASS EVERY PERIOD IN ORDER TO LEARN! DO NOT SKIP CLASS!!!
When i was having issues with the material he made SURE that I got the help that I needed. During an entire class he called on me for nearly everything While this ensured thati learned thematerial. If you can't learn in this way and follow many rules. I seriously suggestyou do not take his classes. He also took points 4 going to the bathroom often
Despite having a notorious reputation for being very difficult, he is a very good professor as with what he teaches and reasoning behind it (especially when it comes to Physics applications). Would only recommend to take if you have a lot of spare time to read ahead and do all his homework. His quizzes and exams are based off HW and online quizzes.
It pains me to write this, but don't take him. He has good intentions and truly wants to be a good professor who teaches well, but isn't. He is very disorganized, cocky, and terrible at teaching. The material itself is doable, but his class is hard for the wrong reasons. If you have to take him, self study your heart out and god bless you.
Undoubtedly the most clever prof in the Math department. He has the ability to transfer his enthusiasm and energy for math to students. Crack jokes at times. Some confusions in his notes, but thats the way to learn math imo (diy using only the fundamentals). Stressful class but he wants his students to succeed. I got in to Cal thanks to him. Best.
Pros: class materials are useful and advanced, a few extra credits, outgoing teacher, sometimes he jokes, decently kind Cons: unnecessarily tough grading, time pressure on tests Comment: the question worth 4 points, wrong answer minus 2 points, solving 80% minus 4 points. You can't discriminate who gets the idea, who has no clue what's going on.
Class has a easy to follow format for grading, tests are easy if you practice the exams (only 5 question per exam), group work for classwork. Take notes and you will pass.
Mosh knows math and can probably teach it well, but his ability to communicate lacks and it shows on quizzes and exams. I struggled a lot because I'm not stats-orientated and it was hard to understand what he wanted. Especially on the final, which was multiple choice, I got questions wrong because I had no idea what he was asking me to do.
The hardest math class I have ever taken. Mosh just make it harder for math41 and he lecturing too fast that can't even catch him. Drop his class with a record of W and definitely worth it!
If your a math major then you will be fine in this class, however if you just want to transfer DO NOT take his class. I ended up dropping after the second week because I knew his teaching style wasn't for me. He is self centered and will only go over things once. BE PREPARED for group work and lots of homework.
I had him last quarter the best maths instructor.
Terrible class. He charges you for his notes which he directly gets paid through his paypal account and you can't take quiz unless you pay. The notes you pay for are filled with errors. I had to talk to other teachers and they all were confused by his notes. He does not explain or does not know how to explain and confuses you.
This is my first and last quarter at De Anza college. I go to UCLA and thought I take a required differential equations course here. Reminds me of high school teachers who act hard but you learn nothing. Confusing and superficial. Spends a lot of time insulting you and acting like he knows a lot. I dropped after the first week of this mush.
Tough class in general, but as long as you study his homework/handouts, youll be fine because they are very similar to the ones on the test. One of my harder math classes at DA.
Grading scheme seems hard at first but actually very easy to pass, you get free points from doing the quizzes.
He is very confusing. Eventhough I sat through the same class in my university and knew most of the topics, I felt lost. He convinces you to buy his notes from him and they are filled with errors. Ask him a question outside of his notes and you get a incoherent TEDTalk. I gave up asking him anything, Very bad experience.
While an ok teacher at best, make sure you have some knowledge of physics cause the way he teaches and explains problems is mainly physics orientated with the math being a secondary focus. Overall he is best suited as a science professor not a math professor and it is evident in the material that he expects you to master before he teaches it.
Mosh teaches from his own textbook that he wrote which is nothing bad, but reading through it I noticed that it is written out more for him to easily understand the subject that he is trying to teach and not student-friendly, unless you are only taking his class and have all the time in the world to read and study through it and memorize everything
First day of class was a big no for me. Doesn't have a specific textbook for you to use and claims all stats textbooks are "the same thing." He was rude to me and other students, telling us he would take points off our tests if we were late or absent. Being a student with a disability, I'm not always able to attend class. Dropped after my first day
He expects you to know everything and self-study new material. His tests require you to prove lots of formulas even without you being familiar with them Unless if you are a Computer Science or engineering major, it will be very difficult to understand his lectures.
Mosh is by far one of the worst professors Ive ever encountered in my time as a student. He is a textbook narcissist. The goal of a professor should be to teach students, not make it the most difficult class possible. On top of that, he tends to make racist comments about his Asian students. Avoid at all costs.
