She is nice professor . I took English 28. If you will have some issues with writing she is willing to help you. The most important for her are the writing assignments. If you write the all essays for sure you will have good grades.
She is very helpful and understanding. She will prepare you for English 101 so pay attention because English 101 is similar to what you do in Mrs. Baldiwala class.
She is a nice caring professor. She lets you redue essays, and her class is easy but she also makes you feel like you are in a elementary school. She assigns name cards that you have to put on the front of your desk, and counts down from 5 if its too loud. The class i was in made it feel like it was a high school class that didn't respect the teach
Unorganized
The class is easy if you do the work. She's nice , however she can be quite unorganized so It's important not to be absent or you will be lost .
OMG! She is wonderful teacher! She teaches a lot good staffs!
Wonderful and inspirational speaker.
I took this Prof. so summer she is such a good proffesor. However, she does leave a lot of work but its easy work. I actually learned a lot in her class. She shares a lot of stories, and videos. She is very funny as well.
Took her over the summer and at first she seemed like a great teacher. As the semester went by, she kept changing assignments, and got off task at times. She was overwhelmed by the how fast the class was (it was summer). She raises her voice when she's in over her head. Lots of work, reading, and assignments. She could have done a better job.
Shes looking to give good grades if you just show participation and effort. I liked her a lot and her stories are funny. Some of her assignments are actually pretty creative and interesting.
She let the students express themselves through projects of there choice. The main idea of this project was cultural relevancy, so this gave me a chance to explore music in another country of my choice.
She was easily one of my favorite professors, because she gives every student the opportunity to succeed. If you do the work (and are honest about that), you get "bubbles" which can better your grade. She is not only hilarious herself, but she also brings out a better version of everyone in the class. On top of that, she cares about you learning!3
She is very clear on her assignments and if there are any confusions she'll make herself clear. As a student, she respects you and allows freedom of expression on the topic/subject of papers.
Professor Baldiwala is easily one of the best professors in LAVC. She's super super nice and very helpful towards her students. For English 28 she requires her students to read two books, both books are very interesting to read and helpful for the future. Participation is VERY important for her class. If you participate you will pass.
One of the greatest English teachers in the English department. She is caring for her students. Lays out a clear grading criteria in the syllabus. Homework is not difficult because she explains it thoroughly. Participation will make a big difference in your grade. Keep all your graded papers organized and you will pass. It's impossible to get an F.
Very interesting class. Professor makes good atmosphere. I liked the class and assignments are interesting.
She was an amazing professor. She was concerned on our background and foundation to do well in her class, she took time to review them with us. She gave bubbles to boost your grade and gives enough time for paper due date. She even let me do revisions on my paper. The class was early morning and happy as a lark. She was a pleasure to be in class.
Absolutely do not recommend this teacher unless you know how to read minds. Extremely unorganized and unprofessional. She is rude, does not know what she is teaching the class, and does not keep up with syllabus or her own due dates. All she talks about in this class is what an amazing professor she believes she is. Save yourself the headache!
She is sometimes very blunt and does not realize some of the things she says or how awkward they may sound but over all she is nice and is willing to work with you. She is a bit unorganized so you just need to find a way to keep track of assignments on your own. Posts assignments on canvas sometimes. Gives about a month for each essay.
Never well I take her again she's worst then a High School teacher. Very rude and disrespectful I didn't learn nothing. If you have other options take them !!!
Very sweet professor! She helped me learn how to write a research paper the correct way, and let us choose a topic of interest to us (rather than on a book). I've never enjoyed writing a research paper more! She cares for her students, I had gotten sick in my winter session course and missed a lot of class, she helped me make it up. Take her!
Class is easy enough, hard not to pass with an A or B. Professor genuinely believes as students we can make mistakes, gives a chance to review papers and assignments for a better grade. Syllabus is easy to follow, as are rubrics. Moves dates out if students are overwhelmed. She's great, really cares, no reason not to get a solid A in her class.
all over the place... but pushes you to excel
I took her class for Winter 2017, and it may have been rushed, but Baldiwala does have a good teaching method. She taught me how to do research and everything I need to know about writing essays and improved grammar. There are books that you need to read for her class. As long as you do the essays you will pass easily.
super rude and even the smallest and minor mistakes sets you back when it fomes to grading
Professor is inspiring and helped me to improve my writing skills.
Took Baldiwala for a summer english class and wish I hadn't, she's extremely unorganized and confusing when it comes to due dates and changing assignments. You have to constantly ask questions because everyday she changes or adds something you need for your assignment. Take another professor and save yourself the headache.
The best professor Ive ever had. She teaches very well. Theres extra credit. Come to class, do your compact reading, vocab cornell notes and be ready for mini essays short 1-2 pages. Literally a great class and I loved it so much.
Very unorganized and as another stated, only take this class if you can read minds. Changes lectures/assignments everyday. Will admit, she tries to make the class fun but she does not teach. She will try to teach you in a "simple" way by drawing but leaves you more confused then you were originally. Don't understand the good ratings on here
Overall she is a good teacher. She relies on one's self ability to learn versus giving nonstop lectures. The class was easy and fair plus the homework was manageable even in winter semester.
I took professor baldiwala for English 101 and learned so much about writing proper essays and research. She's hands down one of the best professors at Valley and she's so passionate about her job. Wish she would teach higher levels cause I'd definitely be taking it with her.
She's an amazing professor, gives positive guidance and has been a great impact in my education.
Professor Baldiwala was my English 101 professor. Very caring professor. I asked her to write me a letter of recommendation on very short notice. I let her know how important it was to me and she took the time out of her day to help me out. She had a lot to do yet she was so kind to help me out. I cannot thank her enough. Such a caring professor.
Professor Baldiwalla is pretty awesome best professor so far. Easy work.
Professor Baldiwala truly has a passion for her career and students, she gives extra opportunities at the end of the semester for those students who need an extra boost with final grades. Extra Credit is available all semester long for events and small work, the book used for class is available on canvas for free download via prof files.
She's an amazing professor, definitely not an easy A but she is very fair. I would take her over again if I had to.
I took her for Winter 2018 for ENG 101, she has a clear grading criteria that is very good and efficient. You can tell from the very first day that she is very passionate what he's teaching and takes every opportunity to answer questions, give feedback, etc. Also a very true to heart caring professor. She's an adjunct so GIVE HER MORE CLASSES!!!!!!
Professor Baldiwala is so great , shes really big on entrepreneurship so if your into that then this professor will tell you how everything relates to that. She wants her students to succeed. Just do all the papers she asked the research paper is the most important for this class. Don;t procrastinate and you'll pass.
Very passionate and caring professor. However when I took her class, it was all over the place. She also gets side tracked a lot. Not too many essays to write
HIGHLY recommend to NOT take her. She isn't organized at all she makes you figure out your grades out & your assignments. She is so much of a perfectionist for a english professor. Not a fair grader, even if you actually turn in all the assignments in. She will FAIL you if she feels like you are not ready. I took her in SPRING2019 worst class ever
Took her eng class online . Way too assignments , but the problem was she was very unclear. She gives instructions but it was hard to follow. She has a slight accent , which made it difficult to ask her in person . I was just confused overall.
Too many assignments but not clear at all
If your taking this for summer class , I definitely think you should another professor. She gives way too much work like this is the only class your taking . When you ask her questions she always gives a rude reply and makes you feel dumb . Very unorganized and doesnt give enough time for the assignments. I wouldnt recommend her .
Took her during summer online , and some of her assignments were unclear . Shes a tough grader , she checks everything . I wouldnt recommend he if your trying to get an easy A , they will make you work for that A ! Its overwhelming especially if you take another class with hers. She can be rude with her responses sometimes.
I had an A all semester until the final 2 weeks of class. The final 2 weeks she assigned a behemoth 15 pg final essay and then another short essay the following week that was worth big points. She ended the class sucking the motivation out of her students. Assigns work in the final weeks of class that will take all of your time from other classes
Gives a semesters worth of work in the final couple weeks. The class had a theme so theme for this class was getting a view of oppressed people and their lives. The entire class and assignment me dragged on about slavery and oppression and started to feel like a history class. She is so unreasonable from what she asks from you. Too much work!
Professor Baldiwala is a great professor! She clearly wants every student to thrive and works very hard to accommodate people at all levels of learning. She gives great feedback and so long as you follow the agenda its not too difficult to do well in her class and still learn.
Professor Baldiwala is such a great professor. She is very caring and big on the entrepreneurial mindset. She is really inspiring. She is always trying to help the class as individuals to improve their writing. The work was very clear and as long as you follow the rubric youll be fine. I recommend taking her class. Do your work and youll pass.
Professor Baldiwala is an amazing professor! She is a tough grader, but just wants the best for her students. She really loves what she does and pushes students to do their best. As long as you do the homework and participate you will pass with flying colors! If i could, I would retake her class all over again.
Took her English 101 class for winter she is so amazing and caring passionate about what she does truly love what she does
Took this class for ENG 102 in class and it was manageable. Yes, sometimes she is unclear, but if you ask her questions, she will easily answer them. Never did any quizzes or tests, maybe just one, but it counted as "bubbles". I wouldn't miss class a lot because it is very easy to get lost on due dates. One tip: ask questions if need!
Professor Baldiwana is a unique instructor that is not afraid to wear her talent and passion on her sleeve. She offers good prompts and discussion as a great way to offer class students to interact with each other. She is highly available for questions via text or the Q and A page she offers on Canvas which she religiously follows and responds.
Professor Baldiwala is great! She has a very good teaching style where she incorporates the "entrepreneurial mindset". When grading assignments, she gives good feedback on papers and ways to improve your writing! Another thing I enjoy is the way she cares about us. She is quick to reply to messages or any questions.
The Professor is very passionate about her student's success. She would reach out to me over if I need any help or just a general checkup regarding my grade. The class is easily passable and everyone could get an easy A if they show effort. I can guarantee Professor Baldiwala will help you pass her class with an A if you reach out to her.
Professor Baldiwala was so supportive and flexible. Several varieties have given for creating topics to write about. The workload was reasonable for such a short semester, I did not find it overwhelming compared to other English class I took prior. I feel more confident and courageous in writing and would definitely recommend her classes to anyone.
"I love the way teach. All the explanations were really easy to understand." I highly recommend her classes.
Professor Baldiwala makes a clear effort to see her students succeed. I took several years off from school and needed to refresh myself on the basics of writing. Had I not taken her class in my first semester back I am sure I would have struggled with papers in my other classes. She gives detailed feedback and is highly personable!
I dont get the negative reviews and was initially skeptical on reading the reviews to take this class- but I was so incredibly mistaken. I would take her class over again. She really makes prompts something that is of interest (entrepreneurship) to you and makes you critically think and learn out side of theoretical rules etc. She cares so much
Professor Baldiwala was the best professor I've ever had in my college duration. She is inspirational and dedicated to her profession. She incorporates an entrepreneur mindset in her teaching & helps develop confidence in her students. She is very groupwork-driven and helps students discuss/ learn from each other, She gives feedback & extra credit
Professor Baldiwala is amazing I took her for English 28 ,101 and 103 she connects with every student. She is also invested in your education. Even if your having a hard time is best to communicate that to her and she will find a way to get you back on track that is rare these days with other Professor. Like always do your work and you will pass.
The class has a lot of chaos and you don't learn that much. It is essays after essays and it's a lot of work. Although the class can be fun, its more fun than actual learning.
Took her as my College English AOS 200 for Spartan College for one of my core classes for my associate's degree class. The class was entertaining and engaging mostly with lots of discussions and participation in class communications and speech in a business. Ms. Baldiwala is amazing thank you for making me enjoy English.!
Sometimes her rubrics are unclear, her lectures go off-course, and she was behind on giving us assignments so some were rushed. Otherwise, her focus on justice issues, flexibility, understanding, and desire for students to pass makes her a great professor.
She learns the names of every student and that really stood out to me. Cares about you and your grade. She is very outspoken in a great way. Her focus on social justice makes the average English 101 class something with substance. Pay attention and do your work, she is very flexible and will go the extra mile, you just have to put the work in!
Amazing Professor! She really cares about her students and makes the course interesting. She allows students to redo big assignments for a better grade and gives extra credit. So she genuinely wants everyone to succeed. I don't have any complaints. She goes above and beyond for her students. Do the work, and you'll succeed.
Professor Baldiwala is a caring, thoughtful professor who truly cares for the craft of writing. She connects students with helpful resources and is always encouraging them to revise their writing for extra credit. Very helpful, very passionate.
Professor Balidwala is a caring and thoughtful educator. She inspires students with her love for writing. She is helpful in connecting students with resources, always encouraging students to revise their writing for extra credit. Truly a great professor.
Baldiwala is decently nice. However, if you are hoping to be academically challenged this is not the class for you. I can honestly say that I have learned nothing from being in this class as everything she has taught thus far was information I learned in high school. If you are looking for an easy A and boring and redundant classes then go for it.
Very nice as a person but not a good professor. Always LATE to class and seemed unorganized without a clear agenda. It's an easy class since you only do a few essays but that is the ONLY highlight. Professor gets easily overwhelmed/stressed. She teaches like it's a high school English class, would not recommend at all!
Refer to professor Fatema Baldiwala, in my opinion, she is an extremely friendly and sincere instructor. She is always ready to answer any questions students have. I am very grateful for her teaching efforts as well as her sincere and helpful advice to me! I am completely happy and satisfied that I enrolled in this class!
Professor Baldiwala is very caring about her student's work and is passionate about teaching. Assignments are not hard, but you still need to put in effort.
I liked Professor Baldiwala's class. Learned many new things which are very helpful for writing. This course is about writing. She's very understanding and caring.
This was my first class after taking a very long break from school and if it wasn't for how welcoming and understanding she was i might have not kept going to school. She does her best to help you succeed, she is very clear on what each individual needs so they can pass the class. She is extremely understanding.
Ms. B is one of the most caring professors I have ever met. Not only is she sweet but her teaching skills are amazing. She has helped me become an amazing writer. She cares so much for her students and would do anything to help them achieve their goals in life. I suggest all students to take her class.
She can be a nice professor at first when you first enter her class and introduce herself, but she can get very stressed out, easily gets mad, and screams at her students. Watch out when she complains about your name card that isn't "good enough" according to her or if you don't have a name card. Wouldn't recommend her class if you're new to LAVC.
Terrible Professor she is not understanding at all. She is very disrespectful to students if you want to ask questions don't, she will belittle you Infront of the whole class. DONT trust the good comments about her because they are all lies trust me I fell for it!!!!!!!!
Prof. lacks structure and overall focus. The clear plan for our group project was changed at the last minute to feed her ego at a Prof.s conference. Grading was not clear and I honestly felt that class was more beneficial in the terms of comedy. She will confront you for being confused and being late. Do assignments, don't stick out, don't use AI.
Very disorganized and confusing. She did not have a clear plan or agenda for the entire course and daily classes, would spend half the class off topic talking about politics and her own interests. Would not recommend for people who want a real class experience.
Professor Baldiwala is an amazing teacher who truly cares for the success of her students. She is late quite often, but her agenda is clear, explains the material clearly, and highlights where to improve on essays. Fair grader, strict deadlines, and understanding of situations. Do the work, don't wait last minute, and you'll pass. Easy class!
Prof. Baldiwala gives detailed, thoughtful feedback and really takes the time to understand your work. She responds incredibly fast and provides tons of helpful resources, you just have to ask. Her belief in my writing gave me the confidence to get into my dream university. Truly one of the best writing professors I've had!
Not a good teacher, lacks the ability to explain what she wants and her instructions are never clear. Responds to emails but doesn't help you improve, just criticizes you and tells you to reread her syllabus instead of offering advise on where you went wrong. If she was the last educator left on this planet, I would never get educated. -1/10.
Super approachable and makes the class engaging. Workload was very reasonable (weekly assignments) and actually enjoyable. She explains everything clearly and gives helpful, constructive feedback that really improves your writing. I'd definitely take another class with her. 10/10 recommend.
Extremely inconsistent grading and expectations. Rules changed late in the semester (word counts, exams, MLA), creating constant stress. Heavy reliance on AI accusations without clear evidence. Communication felt rushed and dismissive, especially near deadlines. Course management and transparency need serious improvement.
