she is a nice lady. if you go to her class and follow her advice you wont have any problems during exam.
she is nice; reminds me of my momma. her tests are okay, study hard for them and you will be fine. Personally, I don't read the book yet I have an A-. she pulls in great present-day applications for Econ. very clear, teaches off of powerpoints and she gives you the powerpoints before hand
A very nice and understanding professor. I have never taken econ before, yet with the combination of the textbook and her lectures I understand the subject matter well. Go to class and pay attention and you shouldn't have any trouble at all.
Very friendly professor. Don't bother with the textbook since everything to know is in the slides. Assuming you study the material back home, it is possible to not attend class and still do well.
Some students complain that she takes slides off before you can copy down all the info but if you download the slides off her Bboard you should be fine. She basically gives you the midterms the class before the test and then drops your lowest of 3, so its set up for you to succeed. She is nice and motherly to students. Take this class.
very understanding and caring professor! very good lecturer and she is funny too! If you attend all her classes and pay full attention you will do well in her class.if you do not understand something in class you can always go see her during her office hours.
Just read the textbook and you'll be fine.
Love this professor! she genuinely cares about her students. She is also very intelligent and just knows how to teach!
Great professor, very nice and caring about her students. Just be prepared to read the textbook
Really nice and sweet, cares about her students. Her midterms are pretty easy, and she drops the lowest grade. She also puts in extra credit on one of the exams. If you read the book and go to the class before each midterm you'll do great. She basically gives out the midterm the class before.
The class is boring, but go to class and she highlights the main points--study those a lot. There was a big curve at the end too. Go to her class before the exams for a preview of the test.
Caveat: I'm an engineer who dropped my business major so I don't enjoy business classes. I had her for 251 and 252. She means well and is very maternal but her lectures can be dry. Her tests are really easy if you put some effort into it. If you're adept at conceptualizing math, you can pretty much not study and still do well.
One of my favorite professors at USC. She truly cares about her students, and tries brings in life wisdom to the somewhat dry subject of econ. She tells you exactly what to study for on the exams. Wish she taught more classes.
Definitely a nice person, but frankly, not a good professor at all. All her lecture material comes straight out of the book, sometimes verbatim. Those "life lessons" may be worthwhile at the high school level, but not in college where you can get all the life lessons you need outside of class. Do not take her if you value your tuition money at all.
Look, she's not a good professor in terms of teaching econ. She's very nice and her exams are easy and one is dropped. Bad class, easy though.
she teaches the material well and is very knowledgeable in her subject area and therefore provides her students with a valuable learning experience. overall great class.
she really cares about her students and wants them to do well. if you go to her office hours and show interest she helps and recognizes your effort. i would recommend attending class because she gives a lot of hints to what will be on the exam and sometimes does exact problems that appear on exams. if she doesnt answer your email - keep emailing!
She's really nice; but is not a good teacher. She basically recites the powerpoints the publisher made verbatim. I definitely had to have hardcore study sessions to learn everything by myself before the tests. However, I mean it's not a bad class. The tests are straightforward and its not hard to do well. Just do the homework and memorize the eqs.
Nazarian is great; she is very maternal and it's nice to know that she cares for her students. More people need to attend class in order to judge her. Her lectures are clear and based on real life experiences. Would recommend.
she is a great professor. you can learn alot. class can be easy. and she is very helpful and wants you to learn.
She is very nice and clear on what she wants you to know and whats gonna be on the test. She goes over HW and make sure that everyone understood it.Its not an easy A but if you try your best to study the PPT you'll do well.
She is a very nice lady, but she doesn't teach very well. She doesn't go over the tests and she barely goes over the homework. I really wouldn't recommend her unless you are some kind of genius who is great at applying concepts and remembering tiny little facts. Many formulas to memorize and u need to apply them. Don't take, if so then good luck!
Nazarian is very maternal. Once before a test, she received concerned emails from the class and said, "If you were my children, I would not want you to be worrying." So she postponed the exam. But she is a very smart woman, so she forgets that the material is difficult the first time. So things can get hard. She also never responded to my emails.
She likes to go off on tangents. Barely goes over concepts in class. Not a good lecturer either. Do not recommend.
Lectures are not very interesting but very organized. Professor is very nice and care about the students! Need to study the textbook very well. 3 midterms, 1 final, can drop lowest midterm.
Terrible professor. She's a nice person, but she can't teach. She teaches straight out of the textbook and doesn't explain concepts at all, just puts the slide on the projector and reads from it. Super disorganized all the time. Prepare to teach yourself the entire course.
She's very nice but lectures are extremely long and boring. Textbook is confusing and not helpful, but the only source of reference in this class. I do not recommend her if you're not extremely passionate about econ and you dont like laboring over a textbook for hours on end.
She is a good professor. the class is not that easy. but u can see that she cares about her students.
The worst professor I have ever had in my life. EXTREMELY nice woman, but she simply can't teach. Prepare to teach yourself the course through the textbook (which is already confusing).
he constantly goes off tangent about irrelevant topics. She always complains about how tired she is or how many papers she has to grade. Very caring and maternal teacher, but she doesn't teach well. All she does is put the powerpoint slide (directly from the book) onto the projector and reads directly off of it.
if you want to teach YOURSELF in econ, while paying 50 grand, this professor is for you
She is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She is a really nice person and cares about her students. However, her lectures are extremely boring because all she ever does is read off power point slides, which are the same as the text book. The material is confusing and her tests are hard. Not helpful at all when it comes to grades.
She is not a good teacher, in any means. She's a nice person, but this class will essentially require you to teach yourself econ-so I truly don't recommend it. She's unorganized, and reads off of the publisher powerpoints. She also likes testing minute details that really do not test your understanding of the core concepts in the class.
I like that professor Nazarian explains difficult concepts through real world situations and makes sure students fully grasp the material. Would recommend.
She is a very responsible professor. She will do her best to help and answer all your questions to make sure you understand the material and do well in the class.
Very helpful instructor. Love the way she teaches. Kind and extremely knowledgeable.
This professor is one of the absolute worst professors I have taken at USC. She basically reads off the Powerpoint slides that have already been uploaded to Blackboard. The best way to succeed in this class is to read the textbook over and over again, because everything that will be on the exam is covered in the textbook.
She is a very kind and intelligent woman. However, she is incredibly disorganized in terms of her teaching style. The lectures are basically her reading the powerpoint slides verbatim. It was very hard to stay focus in class. You have to read the textbook thoroughly in order to be successful in her class. Lectures are not that helpful.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER. Save yourself hours and hours of studying the textbook because she does not teach. She goes off on tangents so class is pointless and NEVER responds to emails. Her exams are extremely difficult and doesn't ever teach how to do the homework problems. literally the worst professor I've ever had
Great professor and great class but you have to do your work. Overall, I would recommend.
Awful. She literally goes through her slides word for word during half the lecture; for the other half she complains about how busy she is with her various positions at Marshall. In short, SHE DOES NOT TEACH. Attendance not mandatory. Study textbook instead of going to class. Just go once in a while for info on hw. Actually, just DONT TAKE HER.
Very responsible professor who really wants her student to fully understand the material. Highly recommend!
Very approachable and responsible. She really wants her students to understand the material. Make sure you go to class and do the homework. It's no that hard to get an A.
Do not take her class. I unfortunately had to take her for both micro and macro, and I dreaded going to her class both semesters. She is extremely disorganized. She ran out of time and did not even teach us two of the chapters that will be on the final exam. Class is extremely boring and you'll have to basically teach yourself using the textbook.
Unorganized and hard professor. Don't take her, don't waste your time.
Professor Nazarian is one of the most caring professors at USC. This was the second class I took with her and really learned a lot. Her main goal is to inspire you to learn more and find something you're passionate about which she accomplishes well. She absolutely wants her students to succeed and will go out of her way to help them.
I learned so much from professor Nazarian. She works very hard to help everyone understand the topic. I also like that she always goes over concepts and gives bonus points.
She is truly caring and understanding. Go to her office hours, she really cares about her students. 2 midterms, one presentation, 1 final. The presentation is pretty chill, she doesn't really grade it. HW is on a check basis. Overall, she does rant on and on about something but you can just get your other hws and complete that in her class.
A scatterbrained professor who would complain about how great America was 20 years ago for often for a quarter of class. Tests are not very related to the lectures at all and the lectures themselves are taken from the Pearson master teaching materials. Late unprepared and has not personalized the class one bit. Avoid at all costs.
Professor Nazarian genuinely cares about her students and wants them to do well. She is extremely knowledgeable about the subject matter. I can't understand the review below. Probably someone who failed.
Great teacher. Not an easy class - exams are not easy. Very approachable. Would recommend.
Unorganized and talk about things that are not in the exam! Exams are not hard if you study on your own. Be careful of her grading criteria, although i am not sure if she even have it. My friend and I got the same grade on exams and hw, and we are even on the same presentation team, and she got an A minus while i have to beg to get a B plus.
very good teacher; cares about her students very much; very patient and knowledgeable. challenging course; relatively difficult exams attendance not mandatory but if you want to get a good grade at least attend the review sessions, she's gonna give you some hints on what to expect on the exam.
Took her class. Overall, I would say she was a more lenient professor than the other econ teachers. She gives out more a's than others. Test aren't bad, she tells you what will be on them. Just pay attention and you'll get a good grade! Would recommend. A+
She doesn't reply to emails (it's not only mine- I've confirmed with others as well). At the beginning of the semester she sets all these plans (there will be participation at the end of class- we will discuss articles), but she never fulfills them. She goes on to talk about life lessons. Her teaching style is outdated and she is bad with tech.
Professor Nazarian is a very caring professor but she spends the entire class just reading off the slides and you can learn more by just reading the textbook. She doesn't follow her syllabus at all and is very unorganized. That being said, she's one of the best professors for 352 because she doesn't make the class too difficult.
She cares for her all her students. However, she is very disorganized and does not follow her syllabus at all. She reads right off her slides which come straight from the text book manufacturer. Her tests come straight from the test bank. I learned more from reading the book than in class. Easy A though. I would take her again
She is a very nice older lady, however in terms of her class she is completely unorganized. She doesn't tell you the class averages or give you your tests back, unless you remind her a hundred times. When it's time to ask whats going to be on the test she basically tells you to just study everything you have learned. Knows econ but can't teach it
Prof. Nazarian is one of the best professors i have ever taken. She is inspirational and highly educated and has great stories. I would definitely recommend taking her. She is not only a great prof. lecturer, but a great mentor. Tests are very very very hard. So i would recommend studying ATLEAST 2 weeks in advance, but she prepares you for them.
Professor Nazarian is a great professor, and sets the bar for all professors at USC. She is very respected by her students and gives expetional lectures. Her tests are tricky, however come to class, pay attention and you should be able to pass. If you don't come to class and pay attention it makes the tests impossible!!!!!
Great professor. Great lectures. Very caring and loving. HARD tests, if you skip class you wont pass. literally. she prepares you for the tests and if your not studying and listening, you are going to have a lot of trouble. Go to class!!! She is great!!!! Really cares about each and every one of her students.
Literally one of the worst professors I've ever taken. She does not know how to teach at all and readers from slides. Never explains anything in class and just talked about her life and tries to give life advice. Take her if you want to fail or spend countless hours studying yourself. Class is useless yet she makes you come. Tests are impossible.
Really hard class. Just had the test and I'm pretty sure I failed. I did study a lot, so I was pretty confident about the test, but when I was faced with it, lets just say I will be retaking this course
Don't take this class if you expect to actually learn anything in class. Get ready to read and learn from the book on your own time. She makes very clear what to study though, as well as the types of questions to expect on the exam.
Amazing professor, even better person. Super nice and actually cares about the students. Tells you exactly what will be on the test. She is great.
Professor Nazarian is a real gem. you would be lucky to have her as a professor. she teaches you so much about the subjects but also prepares you for the real world. She is ready to be there for ANY of her students and it is rewarding to know that a professor truly cares about each and every one of her 200+ students on a personal level. A++++++
Totally useless. In lectures she just reads her slides word to word - you could just read your book at home. Is late to class for on average 10 minutes every day, and whines every single lecture about how she just gave a 3 hour lecture earlier.
If you have a choice, avoid her like the plague. You only have to attend the lectures right before each exam where she'll tell you what's on the exam. All other lectures are useless as she's just flipping and reading her slides. The project is like a high school task and is graded based on how much she likes you.
Provides practical application and guidance. For wishing to understand economics in a international business setting, there is no better professor at USC! Must take
The worst professor I've had at USC. Gives lectures that have nothing to do with the class material and you have no idea what your grade is the entire semester. The worst.
I've taken three courses with Professor Nazarian and she is great! Expectations are clear and she is always available to help.
Professor Nazarian is an inspirational person. She is not just a professor, but a mentor to the students that she teaches. Would definitely recommend taking her class.
Very easy class if you study. Not a good professor. Attendance matters
Do not take a class with her. Her lectures are just reading off the textbook slides and she never gives grades back. She also never responded to my emails. I didnt learn anything in this class and have no idea why or how I got the grade I got. Tests are pure memorization. She is a nice person and caring, but she is a horrible teacher.
Just took her class this past Spring. Professor Nazarian is very knowledgeable and approachable, especially compared to other faculty at USC. Tough grader but would still recommend.
Her lectures are long but she is super sweet and caring. Only issue that I had was that I had no idea what my grade was in the class and I ended up with a B- even though I got B+ on all her test. Her test are pure memorization so the curve is high in her class.
This is by far the WORST professor I have taken at USC. Considering that the class I took was new at the time, there wasn't much structure. Nonetheless, she is so boring and not engaging whats so ever. Doesn't question the class, doesn't do anything but read off the slides. Don't take her if you want to learn and be in an engaging class.
Instructions for group projects or criteria for homework can be pretty unclear, which WILL hurt grades.
treats you like a high school student. does the bare minimum. i rarely give out bad professor reviews so you know this means something
lectures have a ton of content, but when it comes to the exams she gives a study guide. the study guide is all you need, but it has NEW information. What's the point of having a professor teach a class if they're just going to add things we never learned through the semester on the exams?
i dont get how she even has a job
She keeps having midterms every two weeks which is literally so annoying because she doesn't know how to space her schedule out. Also she just reads off the slides in every class so don't bother attending unless she takes attendance. Her tests are hard and she gets mad at us if we don't do well like that's you're fault not ours. Just don't take her
Professor Nazarian makes economics class so interesting and interactive, especially in comparison to my other professors at USC. She is also super sweet and friendly. Would take her class again for sure!
Definitely one of the most interesting courses I have taken at USC. Professor Nazarian knows the subject really well. She also uses real-world applications which I like. Prepare to study hard though. Do not take if you are looking for an easy A. Overall, a very challenging yet inspiring experience.
Overall not an easy class but a rewarding one. Definitely learned a lot.
Professor Nazarian is such an amazing and insightful person. Although her lectures can get a bit dense, all the real-life examples she gives you helps you understand economics. She also gives study guides that are pretty similar to the exams. All in all I enjoyed her class!
Nazarian cares about her students but is an awful prof in my opinion. Her slides are organized in a way that doesn't make sense and lectures verbatim off them so no point in going to class. 3 midterms + 1 final make up 95% of your grade (5% participation). Her tests are really easy though so if you dont care about learning take her for an easy A.
Professor Nazarian is one of the kindest professors Ive had at USC. She was so accommodating and understanding about how difficult online classes can be and started every class just checking in making sure were all doing well. Lectures arent necessary cause she gives you practice tests (with answers) that 100% prepare you for the tests.
Disorganized, terrible communication, never available, super unclear on everything, syllabus useless, not technology literate, USC aware of her not being competent professor and its not doing anything about it. Each class she reads off of on average 500 slides super compact with information, its a yawn fest. The worst USC Marshall professor in 2y
Her "lecture" consists of her reading the words-for-words off her slides, the content of which was copied pasted from Investopedia without citation. She has different treatments for different people: promising full grade for some while enjoy attacking others. It is a disgrace that she is teaching, let alone at an institution like USC.
She said she would be there to support her students but did not respond to any of my emails or class messages. The lectures were so unbelievably boring as well.
Very long lectures, but she cares about students. Seems much better than alternatives.
The class was relatively straightforward and manageable, but she was not an accommodating professor. Her expectations were also never clear as criteria for assignments was not consistent.
Professor Nazarian is very kind and understanding. She is also very compassionate about the world and community. Course is not difficult as long as you keep up with the reading and homework.
One of my favorite professors at Marshall. Makes what could have been a very boring class into a somewhat interesting one.
FBE 524 with this professor. The hardest course I have ever taken. Doesn't make any sense in class room time. You will need to study all by your own. She got extremely long slides. 130 pages a topic. Super overwhelming. I hate this course. I'm a GPA 3.95 student and I still think her course load is way too much!
Lenient about grades that are subjective (projects). However, her teaching style is actually horrendous. Like everyone else here is saying: 300-page slides compact and filled with information and she just reads off of them. Her tests are very difficult even though she grades projects easily. One of the most boring classes I've taken at marshall.
Just read the slides and do the study guide, easy A-
Such a low quality class in all aspects; lectures, feedback, grading, transparency, material. It is no surprise that the class has been removed as a degree requirement for programs. What a waste of tuition.
This is my first review ever. I felt like this needed to be said: Please for the love of GOD do not take this class. First off, she if a very nice and sweet lady don't get me wrong. But this class is a waste of tuition. I learned nothing and her slides are horrendous and packed with so much information. DO NOT TAKE!
Overall I absolutely loved this professor. She uses storytelling in her lectures and real life situations to really aid you in understanding the content. You don't have to come to class, but it is 5% participation based on your attendance. To get the most of her content, attend class, and she definitely takes notice if you are here every week!
Is nice but is literally the least responsive teacher I have ever had. I have emailed her 3 times with questions regarding the content of the class and was met with no response. She gets off topic and doesnt fully finish lecture slides which is annoying considering that she only tests on material she lectures on (not the flipped videos).
Honestly, great professor. I took the 1 class a week format of Macro, we study her slides for three tests. The tests are weighted heavily so if you focus up and do well on those its a breeze. All her info is on LENGTHY (70-80 slide deck) but she'll help hint towards what you should focus on. Go to class and you'll pass. Super approachable in person
shes nice and all but shes not a great teacher she goes on and on for hours but you dont learn anything. You have to self teach!!! Avoid at all costs
Professor Nazarian recognizes the unique challenges faced by students, offering tailored support that speaks to individual learning styles. She encourages us to set personal goals and provides resources and strategies to help us achieve them.
Professor Nazarian's professionalism and dedication to mentoring are clear in the way she takes the time to understand each student's academic journey. She's a role model, embodying the professional integrity and ethical standards we aspire to.
As somebody who has been in multiple of her classes, do not take her class! Her teaching style consists of reading the slides in an incredibly dull manner and going on an off topic rant. It's truly a waste of your time and will not be the "enriching" upper division class that she marketed to be. Do yourself a favor and avoid her as a professor.
Absolutely horrible. She has got to be the worst professor in Marshall. Her grading criteria is unclear, she does not use blackboard to communicate. Reads off of the slides and her slides are unclear. Had three midterms and a final and a group project. Absolutely unclear on expectations and terrible communicator and uncaring.
She's the type of professor to just read the slides, which sucks. But the material is very organized on BB which makes studying for exams straightforward. What I hate about this class is the material itself: too much praise for market economics + lacks a HUMAN perspective. It's just neoliberalism from the POV of a neoliberal, which I can't stand.
Professor Nazarian is a truly exceptional professor. Her slides are very through and helpful when it comes to studying for the finals. She cares so much about every single one of her students and if you have to take ECON 352 YOU HAVE TO take it with her!! SHE IS THE BEST. Highly recommend.
BEST CHOICE FOR ECON 352. She gives very helpful problem sets and cares SO much about her students and is very intelligent and always connects what she is teaching to current events. Midterms and finals are all multiple choice!!
She's nice and her class was easy, but I don't feel like I learned a lot. She only used Zoom this semester (no in-person classes) and her lecturing was really monotone, repetitive, and not interactive. Assignments are also unclear -- she will randomly say the deadline and requirements in class, but you can't find it on BB. Just an odd professor.
worst prof at marshall.....no reply on emails, tests SUPERRRRR HARRRRDDDD
she tests on something we didn't cover in class... there's no way to study
GOAT take her, very good curve!
although powerpoints are long, she is very chill and understandable. She curves A LOT lol
At first I wasn't a fan of her teaching style, long slides with lots of text that wasn't well organized, but I ended up learning a lot from her class and really appreciated how she cared for her students. You have to work hard and self-study as things are not taught too clearly, but if you participate, try hard, and meet with her you'll do well.
Professor Nazarian is hit or miss - her slides are helpful for studying, but she can get off-track during lectures. Definitely take advantage of unstuck ai and other study tools to prepare for her exams.
She was OK. Her lectures weren't necessary; you are better off teaching yourself the material from her slides, which are more useful than her actual in-person lectures. Just use chat to help make outlines of her slides. She is SO hard to get a hold of in emails and lags on her grading which is unprofessional. She is very nice and accommodating tho
Clearly very passionate about the subject and wants you to do well. While the lectures can get off topic at times, the projects and exams are clearly about you learning the material. Overall, she is very caring and wants you to enjoy the class. She will help you as much as you let her. I learned more in this class than I did in most other classes.
She is SO nice and cares about her students and I would take a class with her again just to have that experience with a professor. Her lectures can get a little off track but her slides are a great study tool. She wont make you read a textbook as everything you need to know is on her slides. Tests aren't bad and neither is the group project.
Caring professor but completely unreachable outside of class despite her telling the class about how she is dedicating her time and effort to helping you succeed. Class material is not hard but get ready to not receive any help or responses from her... Takes 5 business days to reply to emails.
Professor Nazarian really cares about her students, but is unreachable via email (she gives her phone number out). Study guides don't reflect tests, but tests aren't too hard. Grading criteria is rather unclear, and assignment descriptions don't really match what she says during lecture. Goes off-topic on rants frequently.
