tests are all multiple choice and you get to drop one. homework is easy, but excessive, and you have to do it online. it is a tad difficult to understand her; she has a little bit of an accent and emphasizes and draws out every other word. EASY class.
This teacher is awesome, make sure to go to office hours with Fakhreddine and TA (the prof. will recognize your hard work and will reward you in a rough time). Read before lecture, work through problems in book, and try to understand the material first, then do this hw (hw will come SO much easier). Work your butt off on the first test (hardest).
difficult material, but very well taught. Organized, well versed in material she teaches. straightforward style

Understood the lectures and homework, but the tests were something else! I don't know where she pulls her tests from but they are tricky.
She is so helpful and genuinely cares for her students. She goes out of her way to teach you the material if you don't understand it, and she makes sure you stay awake and focused in her classes.

Fakhreddine is very good professor! Well organized and explains to the fullest! Takes some time to adjust to her style of exams and level of difficulty but gets easier. She allows you to drop oone exam out of 4, as long as you take the final. Her office hours are extremely helpful and she really cares about her students! I highly recommend her!
Excellent professor; cares about her students. Drops your lowest exam and two quizzes, and gives bonus points for attendance. Go to class! She knows her stuff. She has an accent but it's really no problem at all
one word: AMAZING! You learn so much just by attending class.
Best Teacher Ever!!!
Go to class, she has pop quizzes. Pay attention or she WILL yell at you (like in h.s.) Turn your cell phones to SILENT not vibrate, she gets mad. Tests come from the homework server, so you know what it will be like. However, the homework is harder than what she does in class and it's very tricky.
Outstanding Teacher!!
Overall a decent prof.
Okay, she is an AMAZING teacher in that she does genuinely care for her students and their learning, BUT hardest class I took my freshman year! This class will make you sweat! Don't slack even one day in her class, SERIOUSLY, the best advice - study EVERY DAY! She knows everything about chem, and expects the same from you, seriously!
I found this professor to be extremely hard. Chemistry is not the easiest subject but she tries her best to help you out. Her accent is really hard to understand at first. She is one tough woman, I would not mess with her. The TA isn't too helpful at all and her accent is thick as well. If you study every single day then you may pull off an A.
She does an excellent job explaining things in class as far as concepts, but I feel she could have done more examples of the types of questions that would be on tests. Her tests were fairly difficult. However, she assigns homework that is OPTIONAL but if you do it, it counts as bonus points towards tests, which was very helpful.
This is one hard class. If you have no chemistry background DO NOT TAKE IT. She tries to help you but just makes it more confusing. She is quite intimidating. I suggest not taking this course with her as an instructor
This class is not easy but manageable if you try hard and keep up with her teachings/optional assignments. You CAN NOT slack off in this class. Her tests are fair but difficult. She will never put anything on there that she has not taught before. She tries her hardest to help you understand IF you put in the effort to ask for help.
I took her for both CH301 and CH302. She has been one of my favorite and best professors that I've taken at UT. She definitely knows what she is talking about and is very interested in her helping her students. I highly recommend taking her for both intro chemistry classes.
Great teacher. i took her for both 301 and 302, one of my favorite teachers. quizzes every friday over the material that wk. she seems mean at first but than she warms up. no curves and test and the test are all quest based. test are not extremely hard but they are not easy. her office hours are helpful. dont get behind. you have to study daily.
This professor is awesome. She is kind of intimidating but she is always willing to help. Test are based on her notes and her quest hw assignments. Homeworks are challenging but they prepare you for the test. This class is not an easy A, but it is very possible if you stay on track.
She is very intimidating at first. All of her quizes and tests are Quest based. But she is also very considerate, will hold bonus quizzes, do fun demonstrations in class and is very clear on what topics she wants you to learn she repeats things multiple times.
Passing this course is NOT a walk in the park. It will take A LOT of work. Very intimidating.
DO NOT SLEEP ON FAKHREDDINE. She was the best professor I had my freshman year. I am an average student of average intelligence, but I worked hard to get my grade and pulled out an A- for 301 and an A for 302. Don't ever miss class. Don't study last minute. Anything she says, WRITE DOWN. Talk to her. You CAN get an A if you work for it!
I'm taking CH302 with her for summer session 1. She is an amazing professor and I DO NOT understand these posts about her being intimidating. She is very kind and is VERY interested in helping her students. I was working as an RA and taking BIO311D along with this class (do not do that!) and she really worked with me. It's rough, though! Good luck!
Dr. Fakhreddine is one of the greatest professors I have ever had, hands down. She is so sweet and willing to work with you. Her lectures were clear and well organized. The HW is hard, but do-able. Same with the tests. She obviously knows what she is doing and I don't think there is anyone better to teach this course!
Dr. Fakhreddine is the epitome of what it means to be a college professor. She is knowledgeable and knows how to teach the subject. Her office hours are very helpful and welcoming. Her grading consists of test and quizzes. Study for quizzes by doing the worksheets. Study for test by doing the homeworks. If you do well, you can be exempt from final.
I previously posted about her CH 301 class and I will say that she embodies the term "professor" very well. Knows what she is doing and teaches the material well. I would recommend her to anyone that wants to both learn general chemistry and to anyone who wants to see what a real professor is like.
This professor really cares about her students! She is the best professor I had my first semester in college. I failed my first exam, but I went to her office hours and studied a lot for her exams and received an overall A for the class. She makes you print out handouts, so there is no need for a textbook! Just ALWAYS do the homework! She's awesome
BEST chemistry professor at UT! She cares so much about her student's progress, and that's exactly what she bases her "curve", per say on. I failed my first test, got a C on my second, a B on my third, an A on my last test of the semester and then fed my final and managed to pull out an A due to her homework's being extra credit! She's awesome.
Dr. Fakhreddine was the best Chemistry professor you could ask for! She has four exams and a final (but she drops one). Also, you can be exempt from the final if you already have the points for an A. She was really good at explaining the concepts and she was very helpful in her office hours. I am so glad I will be tutoring for her class!
Don't get me wrong, Fakhreddine is a nice (sometimes scary) professor, and she genuinely cares about her students. BUT you should NOT take this class if you aren't strong in math or chemistry. If you're a nat-sci student or a non-science major who struggles in either, skip this professor, because you won't make it. The course packet is your bible.
She is a very nice lady. Her tests are medium-hard but if you do the homework you should be fine. The homework and lecture attendance are extra credit. You don't need a textbook because she gives all the info through her lecture. Weekly quizzes are HARD! A lot of resources available. She has an accent but you can understand everything she says.
She's seriously wonderful. The best professor I've had at UT so far. All of the homework is optional, but helps so much that you probably won't do well without doing it. I absolutely hated Chemistry in high school, but with her as my professor it's been my favorite class since coming to UT. Would recommend taking her to any science major
One of the best professors I've had at UT. She truly cares about her students, and her notes are really easy to follow. You don't need a textbook, and homework is extra credit. 4 tests but she drops one, 10 quizzes but she drops 2. Highly recommend taking her!
OMG I loooovvveedd having Dr. Fakhreddine as a gen chem professor. She was such an amazing teacher, who was so sweet and caring towards her students (although it doesn't seem like it much). I would definitely recommend her for anyone who is a natural science major. She'll definitely challenge you, but if you try hard and do the hws, you'll do well.
AMAZING professor in the aspect of her knowledge and love for chemistry. Her class, however, is tough and if you don't have a good chemistry background don't take her. You can't go to her office hours unless you've studied as much as you would for an exam which is quite frustrating because she will literally kick you out if you sound "dumb".
Dr. Fakhreddine is an amazing professor. I was expecting the class to be really hard, but if you put time into figuring things out, you will do well. There are 4 exams, but your lowest one gets dropped. There are 10 quizzes and your lowest 2 get dropped. HW is extra credit, but should be done. I enjoyed this class and I think you will too!
She is really respected by students because she's very intimidating. She expects you to study every day and is very precise about her class. However, she's a really good professor. She really knows what she's talking about and really wants you to do well. Though she is intimidating, don't be scared. She's really an amazing professor. Take her!
Great professor and lecturer! Be sure to print out the notes and bring them to class to take notes! Do the homework even though it's optional and there's a chance you can get exempt from the final. Overall, one of the best professors I've ever had!
Slacking in this class is a big no no. It's easy to get behind. As long as you study the homework and the discussion worksheets you'll pass. Pretty tough class, but if you apply yourself you can get a good grade. The final exam is easy compared to the unit exams, and it helps a great deal if you find yourself struggling.
You get extra credit towards the end of the year from your homework and iClicker quizzes, which are basically attendance for the class, so attendance is essential. Dr. Fakhreddine teaching style is very straight forward. She cares about her students, and wants you to do well. Studying is mandatory for this class, and exams were at night for me.
She's a tough professor but is one of the nicest teachers at UT. She will not spoon-feed you the info. Rather, she gives you the material needed in order learn the concepts and expects you to study on a daily basis. Not an easy class but it is rewarding!
I had Dr. Fakhreddine for CH 301 and 302. She is really a great professor and gives you everything you NEED to do well. Her exams are not unfair at all, and if you study like you need to, you will do well. Print out the notes and follow along with her in class. Pay close attention near exam time - she drops hints that always show up on the exam.
If you don't already have a strong Chemistry background, DO NOT TAKE. She goes by extremely fast and lectures are confusing. Office hours are not helpful at all, because she just makes you feel dumb. I can see why others say she's amazing though, but if Chemistry isn't your thing, just don't...
I'm taking her for CH302 and she's definitely a great professor. She gives out notes that you have to print out but I promise you that everything that is on the test, she teaches. I suggest you do the homework and visit her office hours. She helped me a lot and I would definitely take her class again if I could.
Best teachers I've ever had. Even with a poor chemistry background, I've received an A both semesters. But you definitely have to work for it. Print out the notes before class and follow along. The homework is optional but mandatory if you want to pass the tests, plus it's extra credit at the end of the year. Quizzes are weekly. Go to office hours!
Great professor! HIGHLY recommend.
She's an amazing professor!! I would recommend her. She was the best professor I had both semesters. Tests are multiple choice ranging from 26-30 questions. The tests are not difficult. Just redo all the homework and quizzes and also read through the notes she posts. You don't need a textbook. The quizzes happen once a week, do study for them!!
Fakhreddine was a nice professor! Her exams were multiple choice and quite fair. I utilized clutchprep to study off of their concept and exam review videos (which were spot on) and experienced no surprises on exam days!
Fakhreddine is a wonderful, wonderful professor. I love her! She is an excellent lecturer and a fair grader. Just pay attention in class and go to the exam reviews and you do just fine!
Dr. Fakhreddine is very serious, but she lightens up as the year goes. Go to office hours! She will know who you are! As far as discussion goes, study! Because she will get mad at you if you don't know what to do in the worksheets! I failed my 1st test and worked with her. I got a 100 on the second exam and A's on the rest. The final isn't hard.
The best professor I have ever had! Dr. Fakhreddine truly cares for her students and has such a great passion for chemistry. The homeworks are for extra points on the test and she will literally take some problems and put it on the quizzes and tests; SO DO THEM. She drops one test grade and two quizzes. She gives a lot of extra points. TAKE HER!
definition of CHEMISTRY QUEEN!!!!! Best professor I've ever had. She really cares about her students and is a very outgoing. Study for quizzes every week. Exams are pretty fair as long as you read the material AND GO TO LECTURE EVERY TIME. I mean who would , chemistry is AWSOME.
She is a real gem! She'll make you work for the class but I honestly believe that anyone that didn't take Fakhreddine at UT isn't good at chemistry. She will be with you until you understand it. She is very caring of her students and she rewards hard work. Homework is extra credit and quizzes every week. She's very considerate with her grading
Prof. Fakhreddine is an amazing lady and really knows her stuff. However, I feel like she moves too quick on the subject and thinks everyone is with her. She can get really hard to listen to after a while, because you feel like she's talking to a bunch of geniuses who have taken the class before. She also doesn't give bonus points like other prof.
Literally the best professor that I've ever had. I fell in love with her the very first day of class when she started her lectures. I never thought I'd like chemistry until I met her. Her passion and dedication for her students is incredible. If you're struggling and don't understand the material just go to her office hours & she'll help so much.
She is a great teacher that knows how to make chemistry interesting and exciting, and her lectures can be pretty funny. It is best you go to them and ask her questions. She has homework that must be done every week, but they are not that difficult. If you study the lecture notes pretty well, you do well on her tests, which aren't that difficult.
Dr. Fakhreddine is unique. If you are struggling early on, talk with her. She'll help you as long as you put in the effort. I made C's in both her exams early on, talked with her, showed sincere improvement when I kept going to office hours, then made A's on the rest of the exams, ended with A's for 301 and 302 with her. She cares, she WILL help.
Professor Fakhreddine is an absolute GEM! She loves chemistry and explains thing in such a comprehensive way! Her homework are now optional, and she has quizzes just about every other/every Monday, but at LEAST one of the questions on the homework will appear on the 6 question quiz, so DO them! Overall she is amazing and I love listening to her.
Dr. Fakhreddine is one of the best professors I've taken and truly shows a genuine desire to help students excel. Despite being initially intimidating, her personality keeps lectures lively and her passion for chemistry is truly infectious. I encourage struggling students to seek her help but understand you will have to work hard for every grade.
Dr. Fakhreddine genuinely cares about her students and encourages students to get help when needed. She may seem intimidating at first but is actually very friendly and funny. Her lectures are very interesting and keep students engaged. The course is easy if you keep up with the handout notes and do the homework assigned.
Honestly if you want a good grade you have to really work for it in this class. The tests cover a lot information so studying for tests can be overwhelming. Even though homeworks aren't mandatory I would recommend keeping up with the due dates because the class moves so quickly that you'll fall behind before you know it.
The test are extremely diffucult if you do not have some what of a background in chemistry. The subject is covered really fast and you might get lost in it. The quizzes are kind of easy, but make sure you do the homework even though it is optional. If you are struggling and do not do the homework she will call you out for it.
She is very smart, but if you have a hard time learning or take longer to learn, then do not take her. She teaches one way and one way only
She's a great lecturer and if you go to her office hours she can be intimidating but she will help you because she actually wants to learn and succeed. Optional homework but DO IT because sometimes she puts some questions on the quizzes and it helps as good practice fore the exams. The exams are hard because she tries to trick you.
She's an amazing professor when you go to your lectures you can tell how passionate she is about chemistry. She almost made me reconsider my major! She provides notes for the class which makes it easy to understand what is expected of you for the exams. You definitely have to study for this class though and do the hwks and go over the assignments.
Best TIP professor out there. She truly cares about her students. Will make you work for that A. Exams are homework based. Do NOT go to her office hour w/o studying or knowing the material you are going to ask about first. Also, don't skip class since she has no required textbook and already teaches the material well.
I love Dr. Fakhreddine! She cares so much about her students and is so passionate about what she teaches. Her office hours really help if you have specific questions. Her tests are pretty straight forward if you redo all the homework questions.
THE BEST CHEMISTRY PROFESSOR AT UT. You are truly blessed if you get her for chemistry. She is a tough lady, but she truly cares for her students and as long as you pay attention in class, STUDY, and do the hw you are golden. All of her exams are MC and there are weekly quizzes.
If you are in TIP and are considering Dr. F, stop what you are doing and TAKE HER! She is literally the Queen of Chemistry. She WILL teach you and if you are a pre-medical student, you WILL be prepared for that MCAT. She is an amazing lecturer and is very clear with what you need to learn. NO TEXTBOOK EVER!
Dr. Fakhreddine really ensures you have a solid basis in chemistry and definitely instills you with great study habits for the future. While topics are difficult she is very accessible outside of class and is willing to help you if you are ready to put in the effort. By far my favorite professor at UT, I would encourage any student to take her!
Dr. Fakhreddine is honestly the best professor I've ever had! She truly cares that you understand each individual concept and that you can visualize the chemistry. It's important to do the homework asap after lectures because it would be easier to understand, and it's good practice. I love going to her office hours and her lectures!
This class requires you to self learn but Fakhredine does an excellent job of teaching us the stuff we need to know. It is lecture heavy and test heavy but her lectures are engaging and you can tell she loves what she does. In order to pass her class you need to come to class and ask questions. She is very helpful and understanding of all aspects.
after failing her first exam she told me that i should drop her class and that i shouldn't be pre med not sure if thats her way of motivating people but she made me cry anyways i had no strong chem foundation in hs so this was super hard for me i ended up needing to drop the class. quizzes (5-6 Q'S)every monday test were hard unless ur a chem pro
She is really nice and cares about her students. If you really try in her class, you will pass.
She seems very intimidating, but she truly wants her students to do well. I chose not to take her again for CH 302 because I didn't care for the discussion sections at all. CA's were kinda mean to us, but many of my friends stayed for another semester. DO THE HOMEWORKS!!!! The quizzes and tests are the HW!! Overall, she was a lovely professor.
Shes a great lady and professor, but also makes me want to die after ever exam. Only take this class if your passionate about stem. Seriously if your not stay away.
FAKHREQUEEENNNN! This lady has literally motivated me so much to keep strong and keep going through college! She is a real gem, so please if you get her, better be happy! She might seem really strict and difficult at first but just know that it is tough love!
Amazing! Only open for TIP and Discovery scholars though. She is constantly engaging students during her lectures to make sure you understand the material. Just do and understand your Quest homework and youll be fine. Even has weekly Wednesday reviews over the lecture material and TA exam reviews 2 days beforehand. Offers EC with reef!
DR. FAKHREDDINE IS THE BEST PROFESSOR FOR GEN CHEM. if you're a TIP student and you have her as your professor you are in such great hands. She is a very intimidating lady but gets to know each student and cares so much about each person. SHE IS AMAZING AND GREAT. She's a chemistry queen you guys trust me.
Fakhreddine's class is very structured and organized. The topics on the notes are covered in the homework, and the topics on the homework are covered on the exams. By no means is this an easy course, but if you do your homework and stay on top of everything, you will be successful.
If you really enjoy chem, she's the prof to take. Extra credit for doing the in class quizzes and the tests are VERY similar to the homework. Go to class because she explains things that aren't necessarily mentioned on the notes (and usually those things end up being on the tests)
She is an amazing professor, but you are screwed if you do not study. She honestly cares for her students, but if you do not try in her class, she will not try with you.
Dr. Fakhreddine was a great professor! I loved her, but you do have to work for an A. She comes off as strict, but she genuinely cares about her students. The exams are much like the homework except some questions are directly from things she exclusively said in lecture, so take good notes in lecture! Attendance is counted through the REEF app.
Take her. PeriodT
Easily one of the best professors I have ever had at UT so far. If you do her homework you'll do great on the exams because they're similar. Her lectures are straight forward and organized. Her weekly lecture printouts are your guide in class and they're great. Overall a wonderful experience, I'd recommend her to anyone for intro chem
Shes an amazing professor but her wording on quizzes and exams can be confusing at times
I think she is an amazing professor!!! I love her. She may come off intimidating at first, but is so kind, caring and always willing to help in the end. But Im on here to warn you that you need to attend every class and do every homework to succeed!!!! :-)
Don't take her if you don't have thick skin! While she is nice sometimes, even most of the TA's are scared of her. She tends to go over lectures like everyone was in AP chem, so it is quite difficult when you have no chemistry background. She should be nicer to students who want help but are scared cause of her lashing out for not knowing stuff.
I didn't enjoy this class AT ALL. Her lectures are very confusing & not organized. I ended up having to teach myself many of the topics we went over. There are quizzes every week, 1-2 HW assignments weekly, 3 tests, 1 final. You can only use electronics if you sit near her. She'll call you out in class if you talk, text, sleep, don't pay attention.
Dr. Fakhreddine is the best professor for gen chem at UT, I am convinced. She is very transparent when it comes to what is expected of you- show up and pay attention to lectures, study exactly what she tells you to and you will be totally fine. I have learned so much from her and wish she taught every chemistry class at UT.
I absolutely LOVED her. She is an amazing lecturer and teaches you from the very beginning. Her hw's are not graded, and are for your benefit. She has one quiz every week, which helped me study a lot, and when the test came, I felt super prepared. Do her Hw's they are VERY similar to exams!! (4 exams, drops one +Final+quizzes) HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Fakhreddine is great. Tough, especially in the beginning of the year. Eagle eyed. She will point you out whether you're asleep, on a phone, or on a computer in a lecture of 300 people. (No phones or laptop policy BTW). Strictly pen and paper notes. Very good prof, explains all the material well, in particular VSEPR. Def would recommend.
Best prof so far at UT. Interesting lectures and makes the content easy to understand. Really cares about the students. No textbook. Easy quizzes every week and optional homework. 4 Tests and they are easier than the homework. Final is optional if you have an A. Gives bonus points!
Amazing professor. Very engaging and taught really well.
Dr. Fakhreddine is an amazing professor for Gen Chem. She gives you the push you need and nothing is easily handed to you. She can come off as intimidating because she is stern and serious, but she GENUINELY cares about her students. If you want an A you have to work for it. There is final exam exemption and the lowest out 4 exams are dropped.
I absolutely LOVED her!! I had NO chemistry foundation from high school, so I felt really overwhelmed at first. As long as you keep with lectures, hw, and study, you will be okay. She genuinely cares and knows all of her students. Take her if you can!!
As others have said here, she is very stern, and will spend around 15% of her first few classes telling students to get off their cellphones. That said, as the semster goes on, you will discover she is a very good lecturer, and very caring when approached in person.
I loved this class. Dr. Fakherddine is so inspiring and she explains every topic so well. she goes as far as to providing lecture handouts. the exams are not difficult if you do the homework's because they make you think about the concepts in depth. The only chemistry background I had was pre-ap chem and I managed. but you do have to keep engaged.
One time I was having an off week and I went to her office hours. Afterwards, she complimented my jacket! I know this is probably a weird anecdote, but small things like this show how wholesome and kind she is. She has taught me so much about chemistry, and I feel confident moving on from intro chem! "Where are the electrons?" - Dr. Fakhreddine
Dr. Fakhreddine is an AMAZING chemistry professor. This is not a brush off class but you will fall in love with chemistry when you take her. She cares so much for her students and makes class so interesting and entertaining. Be prepared to work for your grade but know she is right there to make sure you get everything you need to do great!
I took her for both Gen Chem 1&2 and it was the best decision ever! She really makes you work to understand the concepts but will do anything she can to ensure you are understanding! Weekly quizzes and homework but these are so helpful when studying for the exams! Highly recommend taking her if you can, you wont regret it she is the sweetest!
Literally a QUEEN. She is serious but she knows what she is doing and will make everything simple to understand. If you listen to her, you will do fine :)
I took this course during the summer, and it is extremely fast-paced. Before class, read the chapter in any chemistry book related to the topic for the day so that you have a prior knowledge of the material, and take light notes. 4 exams with 1 drop, and if you have a 95% average on the exams, no final! Participate in class, and go to office hours.
Overall, best professor I've had this semester, you can tell she is very passionate. She is super understanding, and will work with you if anything comes up. The TAs are EXTREMELY helpful, so go to OH if you feel uncomfy with something. Do the hw mindfully, go to the test reviews, and you should be set. TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU CAN
An awesome lecturer and really passionate about chem. Her TA's are amazing and there are so many OH that you will never not be able to attend one. Her class is difficult but definitely doable. I would take this class if you have a good foundation of chem because she doesn't really like to be asked questions.
Dr. Fakhreddine is honestly too generous at times, especially with online learning and grading policies. She is an amazing lecturer who really takes the time to explain concepts in detail. It is not an easy class for everyone, but if you go to the MANY office hours available, Dr. Fakhreddine or the TA's are more than willing to help you.
Professor Fakhreddine has been so amazing in my first semester at UT. She approached online learning very well, and was so considerate of her students. She can be tough at times, but if you listen to her lectures and try she is super helpful.
Professor Fakhreddine was an amazing chem professor! There were 4 tests and one was dropped. Her TAs had regular office hours and reviews which were very helpful. I took AP Chem in high school which definitely benefitted me but the class would be doable without a good chemistry background.
Dr. Fakhreddine was an amazing teacher. I was just a bad student haha! She expresses that she truly cares for her students. When there was a technical difficulty with all the students with the testing system during an exam, she did everything she could to make sure everyone came out of the situation content. I wish I tried harder in this class.
I would literally die for Dr. Fakhreddine. She cares so much for all of her students and learns everyones name. She has been a prof for almost as long as i've been a live so of that doesn't say something then idk what to tell you. I really wish I tried harder to understand the material but even so I learned so much! there a tons of office hours too
Fakhreddine has my entire heart, & I know she's adored by friends as well. There're around 500 first-year students in her chemistry classes, and she remembers our names. She genuinely cares about every student and will ensure you succeed. She seems tough, but that's only because she wants you to do well! Fair & straight-forward. Go to office hours!
I try so hard in this class and Ive failed every test. Not sure what to even do to be better. Ive gone to tutoring and LA sessions and I pay attention in class. If youre taking this class be prepared for the imposter syndrome because its too real.
Best lecturer I've had. She explains concepts from the bottom up to make sure your foundation is strong. Exams have similar formats to the HW, so HW's are your best friends. She pre-releases the notes, and I highly encourage you read them before class. She is like a mother who wants all her students to try their best and do well.
Fakhreddine is one of my favorite teachers by far that I have taken. She is very easy to follow and understand in class and I'm never falling asleep during lecture. The questions on the test are similar to the ones given on the homework. Format of the class is very clear, no unknowns throughout the year. Do HW and go to class, it is not hard for A.
Take Professor Fakhreddine if you can! She may seem tough at first, but she genuinely cares about her students and if you go to office hours she will really help you. She explains most things twice in class which is super helpful. There are 4 tests per semester, plus homework, and a final.
Literally such an amazing professor! Took her for CH301 and 302. She genuinely cares about her students, and while she does expect a lot of them, she is very accessible and open to questions. Tests are very doable and mimick the homework. She is very motivating and gives very good lectures!
Had Dr. F for CH 301/302 - hands down the BEST professor. I struggled with chem in high school, but she AMAZING lecturer and I absolutely LOVED her class. She re-explains concepts in class & will extend HW deadlines to ensure we understand the material. SUPER caring & motivational - she once sent me an email to check-in & make sure I was doing ok.
Professor Fakhreddine is the best instructor I've had in my first year of college. Not only is she great at explaining concepts, but she's also extremely understanding and motivating as well. If you have the chance, please take one of her courses. She will genuinely help you succeed!
I've never wrote a rate before, but literally everyone who needs to take CH301, 302, take her!!! I had her for both courses and she is amazing- she cares so much for her students, and makes chemistry such an interesting subject. I've hated other classes but I loved CH301&302 all thanks to her. Tests are fair as long as you try your best and do hw.
Dr. Fakhreddine is one of the most admirable people I have met in my life. Before being a professor, she is a caring individual that caters to teach her students good habits: work hard and great things are to come. Her class is quite demanding, but she teaches extremely well. Be aware that she may speed thru lessons, and exams weigh majority grade.
Dr. Fakhreddine is a kind professor that will listen and find a solution to problems you may face. Tests are fairly easy if you memorize the material and apply it well. She does not teach with the other professors so you will not be doing the same things as the other classes/professors.
Dr. Fakhreddine is, by far, one of the best lecturers at UT. She is really good at explaining complex concepts in an easy to understand fashion. If you pay attention in class ,understand the homework and go to the recitations there is no reason to not do well in this class. She says she wants to be our gateway into STEM and she is exactly that.
Fakkreddine is awesome. She made chem so easy and relatable. There is so much going for you to help you succeed in this class. If you get anything less than an A its really on you. She makes the class a gateway to stem.
I never thought I could understand chemistry until I took Dr. Fakhreddine. Her lectures are pretty clear and there are numerous resources made available to help students. As for grading as long as you show that you are making a continuous effort to improve in the class she won't let you fail.
She isn't like most professors that are at the university to do research in their fields. She genuinely likes teaching and interacting with students. She will modify her syllabus to help students out. There have been several instances where she gave extensions on hws bc she said she wants students to actually learn the material. 10/10 prof.
Literally love Dr. Fakhreddine so much. This lady knows how to teach. I swear I've learned so much in this class and it's the reason I am taking another semester with her. Her tests are very fair and hmk is not bad nor overwhelming. She cares so much for students and is veryyyy accommodating. Just don't skip lectures tbh.
Professor Fakhreddine was one of my favorite instructors this semester. She is an amazing lecturer and makes chemistry a digestible and easily manageable class. Make sure that you attend the reviews before the tests and go over the homeworks and optional worksheets for extra practice in order to do well.
Dr. Fakhreddine is an amazing professor. She thoroughly explains the topics covered in class, and her lectures are very insightful. We had 11 HW (drops 3), 4 Exams (drops 2), and a final. She made class recordings for those who didn't feel comfortable coming in-person because of COVID, cares about her students. Highly recommend!
Initially hard to adjust to, but Prof F is fantastic. Very receptive to student concerns. Will make you work for an A, but provides a doable path for such. Final can be exempted. Drops low exam grades. Homework is reasonable in size/difficulty, definitely prepares you to do well. Lectures often aren't intuitive at first but click later.
I had Dr. Fakhreddine for CH302 during my first semester at UT, and she's an absolutely fantastic teacher. The class is similar to any other chem class in that it's still pretty hard to get an A (in my opinion), but it's definitely possible if you study well and put in the work. Dr. Fakhreddine made chem so much easier to understand for me!
Don't get me wrong, Professor Fakhreddine is very nice and understanding, but her recorded lectures are terrible for students unable to attend in person. Audio quality is bad and I found myself often unable to hear half of what she'd said. Not much preparation for what is expected on tests outside content. Tests count a LOT
Professor Fakhreddine has by far been my favorite professor thus far at UT. I was nervous about taking a college-level chem class because I didn't take AP chem in high school, but Professor F breaks down harder concepts in a way that is clear and concise. Her grading policy is fair, and the workload is really what you make of it.
Dr. Fakhreddine is AMAZING! please GO TO CLASS! Learn the concepts thru the HW, rewatch lectures, and anything else that you can practice with daily. You have to be able to understand the topics fully to ace exams. She is an amazing lecturer and very caring. She dropped a second exam and 3 HWs to help us! Tough class, but makes you a better student
Dr. Fakhreddine is my favorite professor so far. She genuinely cares about students and makes lectures fun/interesting. To succeed, go to lecture, print her notes, re-do hw before exams, and go to recitations/exam reviews. Her tests are like the hw and they're super fair. She always makes herself available and there were plenty of OH. Loved her!!!
She was the best professor I had this past semester. Dr. Fakhreddine's lectures were easy to comprehend and engaging. She asks very simple questions during lecture to ensure everyone understands the material. My tips for succeeding are literally just go to class, do your hw, go to office hours if you need help.
Overall Dr. Fakhreddine was a good professor & knows how to teach. She doesnt give extra credit because she is very straight forward during lectures & everything on the exams you have seen before. TAs were great lots of office hours and plenty of opportunities to get help! I do not recommend staying online lectures are hard to hear.
Dr. Fakhreddine really cares about her student and is very passionate about chemistry. She really wants her students to succeed and is very accommodating for grades. However, that being said, this class was very difficult for me and I had to work very hard for an A in the course. Good luck!
Great professor, but be prepared to do studying on your own
I really enjoyed Chemistry with Fakhreddine. She seemed to genuinely care about her students and often made note of what subjects we were struggling with so she could go over them again before we were tested. Very knowledgeable, helpful lectures.
Dr. Fakhreddines class is exam heavy, do the instapolls, show up to office hours and complete hw the day its assigned or you wont have enough time to cover what you dont know. The class is fast paced but this class is not for someone who does not have a chemistry background she skims over basics and teaches for Chemistry 302
If youre wondering whether to take Anderson/biberdorf or Fakhreddine, TAKE FAKHREDDINE! Ive taken both professors and fakhreddine was most straight forward with whats on her tests. So much help outside of class, lectures are a little fast but you get used to it. Study your homeworks before tests!!!! Reach out if you need help, TAs are awesome!
the hardest class I've taken in college. she teaches the class in reverse order - starts with the hardest stuff and progresses to easier as the semester goes on. I'm a decent student and did all the homework, all extra assignments, took extensive notes etc. but when I tried to go to office hours she kicked me out bc I asked a "dumb" question.
N/A great professor
This class was pretty hard for me. I found her lectures a bit confusing, and youtube videos would sometimes explain things much more clearly. I recommend reading about the topic before lecture to come with context - this will definitely help you understand the material better. Not a lot of HW, but tests are very similar to the HW so study that.
Dr. Fakhreddine knows her stuff, but it didn't translate well for me. Doing the homeworks without help from any notes was impossible, and the exams left me hopeless. She's open to talking to students about how she can help with their grades, but when I talked to her she made me feel a bit stupid.
I took Fakhreddine for CH301 and CH302 truly can't explain how awesome of a teacher she is. She cares about all of her students and will help those who are TRYING in her courses.
TAKE HER. She is understanding, she is flexible and she is FAIR. Exams look identical to the HW. She wants to see you put the effort in for an A(the workload is not bad at all). If you don't want to work for a good grade that is completely on you. Her OH are the best resource, I go all the time. Taking her was the best decision I have made.
She has a lecture-heavy approach. No textbook. She has plenty of TA office hours where you can get help. You must put in extra work to understand the homework and material, as she covers a concept in class and then expands on it through the homework. Averaged about 10 hours on homework weekly and couldn't pass. Don't take if weak in Chemistry.
Professor Fakhreddine is the 2nd Best Chemistry teacher I have ever had (my high school chem teacher was incredible). The tests are representative of the lectures (although you should definitely pay attention to every aspect), and she lays out clear learning objectives for each unit. I was content while some friends were struggling with the trio.
Dr. Fahkreddine was a good lecturer. She wants her students to succeed and for her class to be a place where people enjoy learning chemistry. The class had its challenges, but it is manageable if you take the time to study properly.
I am literally in love with Dr. Fakhreddine. She is the best chemistry professor you could possibly get. She really wants her students to learn and makes chemistry so fun and easy to understand. Her HW is literally exactly like the exams. If you're not extremely comfortable with chem as a subject on its own its prob best to not skip lectures.
Amazing professor. She deserves the world! doing HW and then going to office hour to get confusing material clarified is best way to get an A because tests are so similar to the practice problems. If you have a good foundation of chem from high school go for her! if you do NOT have a good base of chem take someone else. she assumes u get the basics
Dr. Fakhreddine is probably my favorite professor. She's straight-forward, knowledgeable, and caring. She's very passionate in what she teaches, which is reflected in her lectures. She structures her class in a way where it's not difficult, but still not easy to get an A. You definitely have to work for your grade, but it's worth it in the end.
Highly recommend! I took the trio for CH301 and I struggled. Then I took Fakhreddine and did wayyyyy better. She cares a lot about her students and wants them to succeed. My suggestions would be to listen in lecture, do the homeworks(multiple times) and do the learning outcomes if you have time.
Non-Stem major- so course was super difficult, but she was really good at breaking things down to help everyone understand. Super lenient grading- drops 2 exams and 2 homeworks. Great instructor for an intro course. Lectures recorded- did all of them online so I could pause and rewatch. Had lots of TA's who were accessible. Exams reflect homework.
Dr. Fakhreddine is easily one of the best professors I've ever had. I took the trio last semester for chem 301 and did miles better with Dr. Fakhreddine for chem 302. Her lectures are very engaging and her tests are similar to the homework. She's very understanding and will have you loving chemistry. Highly reccomend her for chem 302!
She's just .... amazing. Took her a few semesters ago online and recently went to her lecture in person just because I wanted to experience her lecture in person at least once in my life. If you can take her for 301 and 302 you absolutely should.
My FAVORITE professor! She's absolutely the sweetest professor out there. She really cares about her students and gives them multiple chances to pull up their grade and learn chemistry better. There are 4 exams which are based on the HWs and are fair, and you can exempt the final if you get >95 exam average. She prepares you so well for the future.
Dr. F was an incredibly funny, knowledgable, passionate, and inspirational professor. Her knowledge and passion on chemistry made going to lectures very enjoyable. Her content is difficult if you aren't too familiar with chem so do the homework, and rewatch her lectures.
Dr. Fakhreddine is truly an amazing professor. I had her for CH301 and chose to take her again for CH302, which was such a great decision. She loves teaching and it shows in all of her lectures. She really cares about the success of her students and their general well-being. I just wish she taught ochem too, so I could take her again.
She was amazing. Ive never had a better understanding of chemistry. She made me more confident in my skills and the TAs were amazing as well.
I messed up the score on my last rating so imhere to rewrite one: YOU ARE A QUEEN FATIMA! I HOPE U GET A RAISE. another day another slay!
Dr. Fakhreddine is the best professor I have had here so far. Her lectures are so engaging, and she truly wants her students to succeed. To prepare for exams, redo all homework problems, go over lecture slides, and go to exam review sessions. Enjoy her class; she is truly amazing, and I will miss having her.
I took both 301 and 302 with Dr. Fakhreddine, and she is an amazing lecturer, and I always felt confident with the material following her instruction. I would definitely recommend taking Dr. Fakhreddine. The only drawback is that if you have friends taking chem with the trio, it would be difficult to study with them
I had to drop CH 302 this semester for personal reasons (not at all related to the class), but I had Dr. Fakhreddine for both 301 and 302, and she is an amazing professor! Her lectures are very engaging, and she is willing to give extensions on HWs. I highly recommend taking her class, she is awesome!
Fakhreddine was obviously a very intelligent chemist, but I wasn't a fan of her teaching style. She would repeatedly voice her frustration at a lack of student engagement, but didn't lecture in a way that was at all engaging. Make sure you practice for the exams and you'll be fine. The type of class where you go in, listen for an hour, and get out.
Professor Fahkreddine was an amazing and caring professor. She made sure to go over EVERYTHING in lectures and went really detail-heavy. She is really knowledgeable and wants to prepare her students for CH302 and above. The tests are really straightforward and easy if you do the homeworks and review lecture notes. She really does prepare you well.
Dr. Fakhreddine is probably the best chemistry professor you could take. I won't lie -- the class is a decent amount of work. I re-read notes, looked over all homework, and went to TA review sessions, and got an A on most of her tests. You'll have to put in the work, but her tests to me were very fair and representative of everything we learned!
Her lecturers are engaging and clear, very clear about what is needed to succeed in the class as well. Had weekly homeworks on Quest, 4 midterms and a final, with 2 dropped midterm grades. All midterms and finals were completely multiple choice and mostly everything was all covered in the lectures
I'm coming back 2 years after taking Dr. Fakhreddine just to say how truly amazing she is! Her lectures are incredibly engaging and make 50 minutes fly by. Her explanations of chemistry concepts, particularly the more difficult ones, are incredibly helpful. The class is well-organized and extremely well-taught.
Caring and compassionate, she explains chemistry is such intricate and detailed ways that it really opens your perspective. She encourages student collaboration for homework/studying, and usually always drops 1-2 midterms. General chemistry is hard enough but she makes it super engaging and fun. She does talk fast though, but lectures are recorded
This professor is great for chemistry, but the class is really difficult. She does a good job of trying to make you understand.
Really frustrating teaching style. Her lectures consist of her talking AT students rather than talking TO students, and any attempts at student engagement are forced and contrived. Her tests are easy if you can do the homework, and she offers a final exemption, so that's nice. However, she is easily one of the worst educators I've dealt with.
The lectures are great and engaging. Dr. Fakhreddine is very funny and cares about her students' success. Getting an A or B in this course is very doable. The course load is also very manageable. Overall take this prof.
great professor, im not great at chem but she makes it easier to understand. shes very respectable and that encouraged me to want to understand her teachings. 4 exams and about 14 homeworks plus participation points for instapolls
I adored her! She is extremely engaging and makes chemistry so fun. An A or B is doable if you put the effort in and she buffers exams with HW and instapolls. She doesn't spring surprise questions on tests. Seems intimidating, but offers many chances to succeed. If you get a 95 average on tests, you can skip the final. Take her!
I was really good at chem 1 and I feel like Dr. F made it hard to comprehend the material. The homework was similar to exams (not really though) but the conceptual questions were way harder. Also, she doesn't believe in extra credit. Definitely would recommend a different professor!
DR. FAKHREDDINE SLAYS. She does an amazing job of making concepts easy to understand and is one of those professors that make you interested in the material because you can tell that they are really passionate about what they do. Overall, 10/10, and would take her again if I could.
Love Dr. Fakhreddine. An amazing professor who wants her students to succeed. She makes sure we all understand the material and gives us so many resources to be successful in her class. Anyone who complains clearly didn't try hard enough. I do recommend rewatching lectures, going to recitation, and review days. Overall I'd 110% take her class again.
Dr. Fakrheddine is AMAZING! She's very passionate about chemistry and truly wants her students to succeed. Her class is NOT easy, as you will have to work for your grade. Your grade is comprised mostly of exams, which are difficult, but theres nothing that isn't covered on exams. Tip: DONT SKIP LECTURES!!
Dr. Fakhreddine is truly one of my favorite teachers from UT. She is so intelligent and caring, and she covers EVERYTHING you need to know in her lectures to the point where you do not need textbooks. Very accessible. I love how concise she is, and not only that, but her homework is similar to the tests. If you can do the homework, you can succeed.
pay attention to lectures, ur gonna fail class w out them. she records them after too if u miss class. tests are based on hw she gives u, so study the hw for each test. she's a great lecturer and definitely respected. no ec tho. drops ur lowest test grade
Switched from trio for CH 301 and LOVED her! Understand the lectures and homework thoroughly, and tests will be fair. Felt like I actually learned the material and can apply it in the future. BEST prof at UT!
She is absolutely amazing. Her explanations are logical and well put together, and it all made my CH302 experience amazing. I would 10/10 recommend this professor to anyone!
I loved professor Fakhreddine! You have to put in some work to do well in the class, but as long as you have a basic understanding of lecture topics I would say an A is pretty doable. I studied pretty much only using the homework for each unit (tests are almost exactly like homeworks) and went to most recitations/test reviews and did well.
I took her chem302 course during my first semester in college and it was definitely a shock. This class is definitely tough but Fakhreddine is an amazing professor, explaining concepts in the simplest way. The key to success in this course is doing the homework until you can do them without your notes and then do them again to study for the exams.
Dr Fakhreddine is a very engaging lecturer. if you took AP chem, this class will be a breeze. If you didn't, fakhreddine presents information in a clear and manageable manner. She is very understanding and often extends homework deadlines. Will never test anything she didn't teach. The class is extremely test heavy, but all the chem classes are.
The best lecturer I've ever encountered. Lectures are well-paced, clear, easy to take notes on, and she is a great speaker. Very animated with an engaging tone and the right amount of humour.
Chem is always a hard topic, but Fakhreddine is so passionate and understanding. Her tests are very fair and just like the homework. Lots of office hours to get help. No asynchronous lectures, which I appreciate not having to teach myself. Lectures are recorded if you do not attend class. Take her!!
Dude just take her. Easiest A ever, and I failed AP chem in highschool.
Easy A if you review your Quest homework for the exams and stay on top of your completion grade instaPolls. Very caring Professor, too. 10/10. Would recommend it if you are trying to take a science class.
Professor Fakhreddine is incredible! No textbooks, subscription services, or quizzes. Lectures are super clear & recorded. Getting an A is not difficult if you review weekly HWs + lectures. Everything on the exams is like lecture + HW (no surprises!) Didn't even have to take the final because of her grade exemption policy, & I've never taken chem.
Dr. Fakkhreddine is amazing. As someone who hasn't taken chemistry since middle school, she made Chemistry so engaging and easy to understand. Her exams are super straight forward and have no trick questions. She also reviews concepts from the previous lecture during each lecture. Also you can get exempt from the final which is AWESOME!
Genuinely the best prof at UT. Her tests were straightforward from homework (30% was word for word + same numbers from HW on the calculation questions) and her instapolls were just participation. I failed chem with a 43 with the trio and got a B+ here! Love her class so much :)
Liked her as a teacher, but not as a person. Gives passionate, detailed lectures w/ examples. Weekly HW can be difficult, but exams based largely on HW. Lots of office hours offered. Calls out students in class unnecessarily though, esp. for an 8 am. Many of her "nice gestures" like the extra exam drop seemed more like self-preservation to me.
Dr. F is the BEST option for a chem professor. She explains things in-depth and reviews concepts various times, which helps tremendously in having a good understanding of the content. The homework is vital to doing well as it's similar to problems on exams but with different numbers. There's a lot of extra help offered - worksheets, office hours.
I dropped chem last semester, & Dr. F made chem easier for me to understand conceptually which is necessary whenever doing problems. I took the trio last semester which had better organization overall. Exams are just like the hw & attend exam review sessions that the TA hosts he'll cover all the exam basics. She will yell at you in class though
One of the best professors. She's clear on what will be on exams and has plenty of practice problems. Her quest is often very similar to the exam. Her TA, Frank, also hosts review sessions that tell you everything you need to study for the exam. I would recommend her over any other professor! - coming from a student who failed ch301 with the trio
Dr. Fakhreddine is amazing. As someone who was intimidated by the trio, she is 1000x better. She makes the concepts easy to understand and reviews them during class. The homework is very doable and theres plenty of office hours if you get stuck. She does make remarks during class but they are honestly justifiable. Just show up and pay attention.
She literally taught me how to study, chem1+2 aren't what I would call easy but she was a great prof. So much love for her, she wants you to succeed despire her intense tone sometimes making me think otherwise haha. Cannot praise her enough. Hard work will be rewarded in her class.
She is a great lecturer: I've always had a really hard time with chemistry, but she explains things very concisely and clearly. You should know though that she moves very quickly. The only bad thing about this course was the homework was very unhelpful because it didn't give any feedback instantly. (it was online)
