he's really nice but the class is boring. the tests are difficult but the final is pretty easy if you study you're past exams. he's very big on attendance
Very cool Professor, if you go to MSU and you have to take an ISS class take ISS 215 with Hussain. He is funny, and really cares about the students. He also teaches ISS 315.

His lectures are interesting. He stops class a lot to yell at people who aren't paying attention, and reminds them they're paying for this (but it doesn't matter to him that the other 349 of us are paying attention.)
Haha, he just talks like Apu from the Simpsons, and that's all that mattered. "And dees are dee tings dat make de world good. Tank you, come again!"
Definitely one of the better ISS teachers out there. My only gripe is that he assigns quite a bit of reading, but oh well. The tests are pretty easy...try to see if someone has some past exams.
Very good professor.
EASY CLASS!!! very interesting material covered. DON"T FALL ASLEEP IN CLASS!! drops your lowest exam grade. u get extra credit if you are there on all they days he takes attendance. then there's the volunteer thing that gives you more ec. he's a nice guy, sarcastic funny. just make sure you're there for the lectures, take very good notes. u'll pass
The Apu comparision was accurate - hard to understand sometimes. Be VERY discreet if you're gonna daydream, he's got radar for that and is constantly yelling at people. Easy class, boring though. If you're going to pay attention, go for it, but if you want to sleep through 215 pick someone else. I wouldn't take him again.
Fayaz is the nicest man. He cracks me up. I loved the class because the material wasnt boring. His tests arent too bad, nothing that you cant study for. He is the best prof. I have had since I have been in college.
Boring class with too much reading but the tests were very easy, I managaed to get a 4.0 with out much trying....however his final was a ****. He made ridiculously hard questions that were much worse than his regular tests, but i still diid alright. Goo
His class opened my eyes to things going on in the entire world. I thought his lectures were, for the most part, VERY interesting and his stories are great. His tests were straight-forward but a little difficult because some answers seem the same. Overall,

The material in this class is very dry. But Fayyaz makes it interesting by telling stories, relating current data, and using humor to express his points. He even picks on people in the class who dont pay any attention or sleep.
One of the best professors I've had at MSU. Very interesting material, he cares a lot about what he is teaching. Great stories. Pay attention in class or he will point you out. Make sure you GO to class and that you take good notes. Take any class with this guy.
the material could have been completely boring, but he keeps the class pretty engaging, tells lots of anecdotes, uses lots of recent examples, and breaks the theories down so they're pretty easy to understand. the tests aren't bad if you skim the readings and put some time in studying lecture notes.
Fayyaz is a wonderful prof. He's very intelligent and clear and is pretty damn funny.
Dr. Fayyaz Hussain is amazing. "Push the lever longer and enjoy your life of poverty!"
hes awesome!! i love his accent and the material he teaches is easy to understand. his tests arent too bad and the final is just like the three previous exams taken. take him!!
Amazing...I want to take all his classes!
Great teacher and challenges many of the things you have learned in your past. He is foreign, but he speaks very clearly. Overall a great teacher and I hope to take his 315 class next Spring.
Professor Hussain was very interested in what he was teaching, therefore he made the class interesting. He was always approachable after class and had a lot of great extra credit opportunities
awesomeness
Uses all old tests and tells you exactly what will be on all exams. Extremely easy class and Fayyaz is very passionate about what he teaches which makes it to be an interesting course
This teacher was a delight. He made me laugh and the material was pretty interesting. The tests were super easy and I want to take every class with him! GO FAYAZZ!
I took his course over the summer, and it was the easiest course I have ever taken. I did not read a single page of the book and did not do a single assignment. All I did is take the online quiz once a week for 6 weeks and got a 4.0. There was no homework and there were no videos to watch. Easiest class @ MSU hands down.
He is awesome...very funny and a great prof. Juss study the slides and be sure to take side notes, because he does test from what he says...all in all great prof!
great professor overall! very funny, tells stories related to text/lecture, and is genuinely interested in what he's teaching!
By far the the best professor ive ever had. He's really funny, his class is easy, uses old tests, and he actually cares about how you do. He likes to call people out when he catches them sleeping in class too, but he makes it funny
Quite possibly the best professor I've ever had. so incredibly knowledgeable its unbelievable and made a subject i was pretty uninterested in something i now love. what a prof should be. kudos to him!
Really interesting professor. Enjoyed his class.
Hussain was definitely my favorite professor at MSU so far. Very intelligent man with hilarious stories and conversation. Great class.
Cares about his students and that they learn. Such a great professor
Seriously the funniest, most caring man ever! He has great stories to share that go along with the material - definitely makes his class interesting. I would reccommend him to anybody!
He was good, kind of hard
Absolutely LOVED Hussain. One of my favorite professors so far. Gives a chance for a .5 GPA boost, super funny in class (tells lots of stories). Can get sort of boring in the 2 hour lecture, but as long as you go to class the iClicker quizzes are identical to the exams.
I was a bit skeptical coming into the semester seeing that I had a foreign professor. I thought I might not understand him but Dr. Hussain is very easy to understand. Also the exams are exactly as the lectures and Iclicker quizzes. They drop your lowest exam grade and through the extra credit you can get a .5 boost! great class!
This teacher has a bit of a heavy accent but after the first class you'll get used to it. He is very clear on what will be on the tests and makes sure to go over all important information multiple times. He has lots of great stories to go along with his lectures since he has traveled all over and is very interesting. I would definitely take it.
Exams are exactly like lectures and the stories he uses to go along with them. He is funny just make sure you pay attention and stay awake so you don't get in trouble. Class is interesting because you're actually learning relevant information.
He was funny, insightful, helpful and very smart. The class was my favorite of the year, and I would definitely take it again.
Going into my senior year and Fayyaz is still one of the best professors I've ever had. I had him for 215 and I went out of my way to build my schedule around his section of 315 because I had to have him again. Funny, caring, and extremely passionate about his work. Take his class!
Hussain has to be one of my favorite professors. So helpful and funny during class. Kind of has his office hours at night at Biggby which is pretty nice. Very nice guy, I would recommend going up and talking to him and getting to know him if you get the chance. He really likes to know his students.
By far the best professor I have ever had the honor to take a class from. Really funny guy, cares a lot about his students, has had many first hand experiences, and is very passionate. Would recommend, would take again, would love to grab lunch with the guy. Don't shy away because he is foreign, his class was my favorite. Makes it so interesting.
He's very passionate about his lectures.
He is very passionate about his lectures and overall, a great professor.
Hes kind of boring, but have very interesting stories.
This dude is an jerk. His accent is pretty thick, but he's usually okay to understand. He does ramble quite a bit though. Class is pretty much only mandatory because he puts his stories in the quizzes. Oh, and the quizzes.. there's one a week usually. You get like ten seconds to answer a question, if you're lucky. I wouldnt take his class again.
It seems as if he goes out of his way to make this course as difficult as possible. You will have only 5 seconds to answer questions on quizzes. I do not think this is fair at all, and only enhances the anxiety that some students face during assessments. He is also very rude to his students and acts like he is a dictator rather than a professor.
Hussain seemed decent at first even though at times he was hard to understand. For our iClicker quizzes he would give us 5 seconds to answer and if you got it wrong he would make you feel stupid. If you don't read or show up to class, you won't pass. Overall the class isn't difficult but Hussain ruined it for me. PS: Koofers will save your butt
Hussain is absolutely one of my favorite teachers here at MSU. Yes, his lectures may be 2 hours long but he really tried his best to engage everyone in on what he is teaching. He does give quizzes after he finishes a chapter but if you payed attention in his class, you can easily ace it. Same with the exams, pay attention, study, and youll pass
Yells at any student who comes in late, even if it's just 2 minutes. Calls people out for using phones, being distracted, or starts to fall asleep. Pretty much gets worked up over everything. If you don't pay attention, he will call you out. There are clicker quizzes after every chapter (weekly) but they're very easy as long as you pay attention.
Professor Hussain's class is relatively easy to pass as long as you show up to lecture and pay attention. He does demand respect and that you pay attention, but just don't have your phone out and show up on time and you will be fine. His lectures contain a lot of stories which are interesting and it causes you to think about things differently.
Professor Hussain takes a little to get used to, he is strict but only if you are on your phone in lecture or sleeping. Other than that he is pretty funny and keeps his lectures very structured and understandable. I would definitely pay attention in class because your exams are mostly on lecture notes.
He always makes sure to tell students that they don't have to agree with some of his lecture topics/opinions. DON'T HAVE TECH OUT/SLEEP IN CLASS. He will call you out on it, it will happen every class. His lectures are amazing though - they will really make you think about life. He's even got super cool stories to relate to them, clear grading, too!
He is not very nice. Will yell at you if you sleep. You don't need to buy the books. Material is on the test but you go over it in class. Past exams are on koofers, use those to study. Not too difficult
He has an accent so he is a little harder to understand and tells so many stories that it is hard to keep up on them. The TA sessions on Fridays were the one thing that helped me pass. Overall a neat class but sometimes hard to pay attention
I went to every lecture and read the assigned reading and barely 3.5. His lectures are long and boring. He is extremely rude to students and does not like answering questions. ISS should be an easy 4.0
SOOOO Boring and rude to students. Is not understanding at all.
His tests were ab it challenging but this class is worth the work. Very insightful.
Hussain can be extremely rude to students and is not afraid to call people out for sleeping or being on your phone. Overall, class isnt too terrible & information can be interesting. Just BE PRESENT during lectures or he will call you out, & NOT nicely.
Would not recommend one of his classes to anyone. Out of all the classes I have taken, he is by far the rudest and least caring to students. Students only have five seconds to answer iclicker questions, lectures are heavy, and Hussain goes out of his way to make this class very difficult.
His lectures are long and can be somewhat boring, but he knows what he is talking about and makes the information fairly interesting. For the tests most of the questions from lecture are based off of examples he uses and not just from the slides. It isn't bad if you go to class and read the material.
This class can be an EASY 4.0 if you do the extra credit. It may seem like a lot of work, but it bumps your class GPA by 0.5 and helps your resume. The lectures are super boring and you dont have to pay attention for the most part. He will usually tell you if something is important. 50 multiple choice on three exams and he drops the lowest.
Do the extra credit opportunity!! Make sure to do well on in-class quizzes. It'll save your grade!
You have to show up to pass his bi-weekly quizzes, BUT it is seriously so easy. He is the funniest and easiest professor ever. I would take any of his classes. Just don't fall asleep, or be caught on your phone or listening to music. His lectures are pretty boring but very straight forward. His exams are common sense.
Long lectures... and make sure you remember the stories he tells. Most of the exam questions are taken from his stories.
Honestly you don't have to buy the textbooks he requires. I didn't and I'm ending with a 4.0 but I really wish I did the extra credit he offered in the beginning. His lectures sometimes are boring but everything you need for notes you can find on quizlet like I did. Best teacher ever I loved his class, if you have to take an ISS take this one!!
Prof Hussain is the classic stern lecturer that will tell you everything you need to know for the exams. He gives quizzes through an iclicker roughly every other day, however these are free points if you pay attention in class. The exams are online and super straightforward to what is discussed in class. Standard lecture class with a solid prof
He is very sarcastic and some may think he's rude, but he's just trying to help you succeed. you have to go to class to do good, but class isn't that bad. Also, he gives you exactly what you need to know before each exam. If you don't 4.0 this, then you must have just not listened. very good class
Seems strict at the beginning but is actually a pretty cool professor. Most of the questions are very straightforward and he gives you everything you need to know before the exam. The iClicker exams are almost every week but are very easy if you attend the lecture. If you pay attention in class and listen to his stories carefully it's an easy 4.0
Professor Hussain is not the nicest person, but the class was fine. I ended up with a 3.0 and did not mind going to the class. Attendance is mandatory. Quizzes are easy but tests are much harder. Had a 3.5 going into the final and ended up with a 3.0. Overall, not a bad class.
Dont need the books at all, quizzes or attendance taken every class
He is a great and funny professor but you have to go to class and actually pay attention because he gives out a good amount of quizzes and he also will have questions on his tests about the stories he tells in class. I did not buy the book or read because if you go to lecture you and pretty much already know/guess what the answer is.
It is clear what his perspectives are on the political spectrum and he teaches based off fact and bias. It is hard to listen to a biased lecture for an hour and 20 minutes and not fact check everything he says. He gives very common knowledge and statistics and very rarely goes into interesting detail or unknown examples. Professor could learn more.
Hussain thinks he is some type of messiah who is enlightening everyone in the class with stats and news that the average person already knew about years ago. He's also one of the most long winded professors I've ever had, and his lectures can get SO boring because he talks about the same points over and over again. This class needs to revamped asap
This is a lecture class, so he lectures the entire time which actually isn't terrible because he makes the lectures easy to follow and they aren't too terribly boring. Just make sure you go to class, take notes, and definitely listen carefully to his stories. As long as you're present and attentive for his classes you shouldn't have an issue.
he should have a higher rating. one of the best teachers ive had so far. the lectures are boring but makes them fun w jokes. quizzes weekly & attendance daily. exams are exactly the questions from his weekly quizzes. study & youll be fine. clear questions. will call you out if sleeping or on phone. id take this class again. taking him for 315!
All you do is sit through lecture three days a week, BUT Hussain's stories are absolutely amazing.
I really enjoyed this class. I learned a lot. I know a lot of people complain about him but honestly if you do your work you should be fine. I did as much as the reading as I could and looked through his lectures and was able to get a 4.0 without too much trouble. If you try, youll be fine.
lectures are extremely boring and sometimes it is hard to understand what he is saying. most lectures he says the same stories over and over again.
Hes great. If you arent mature enough for the lectures he has then simply dont take this ISS. Take the one about being a happy person all the time or whatever it is. It may seem like a depressing class, but hes here to tell you the truth and to burst your bubble. If you cant handle that, then thats your own problem.
I LOVE THIS GUY!! His lectures are very interesting and fun! I also love his signature phrases like "oh my gahhhd" and "literally speaking" Also makes my day when I see him at the Brody caf like every day! Such a nice professor, but do not fall asleep in his class, he'll call u out personally
I love this class!!! He talks about important topics and really opens your eyes to different issues going on around you. His lectures are really interesting and he uses stories to connect them to his points. As long as you pay attention in class and remember the stories, you'll pass the class. He can be strict about sleeping and being on your phone
Genuinely cares for each student as the class is designed for everyone to 4.0. Weekly iClicker quizzes that are based off previous lectures. He goes over exact topics on what to study for exams and lowest exam grade is dropped. Final exam questions compiled from previous ones. Highly recommend taking him. Stories are inspirational and he's funny.
This is the first class I legit cried in. It was so hard. There are tests every week, attendance daily, and so much stuff gets covered. You can definitely pass as long as you put in the work and go to the TA's study sessions. But you may cry. Hussain has a sense of humor so at least there's that.
Dr. Hussain's class is lecture-heavy but he does a very good job of getting the point across. Quizzes are often but if you pay attention and take notes then you will be fine. He really does care for and set his students up for success but if you don't respect him (like being on your phone or sleeping) then he'll call you out and tell you to leave.
Dr. Hussain is a great professor. Yeah, he can yell at people but that's only if you are late to class and walk in or have airpods in during lecture. During COVID-19, he expressed his love for us and has great lectures overall. He DOES have a thick accent but just listen carefully and attend every class. I ended up witha 4.0, do the extra credit!!
Very nice, stopped during his lectures to ask us how we were doing.
This may have been the absolute hardest class and prof ever
Dr Hussain seemed like a really good teacher, but his covid classes weren't it. The lectures are 1 - 3 hours long (usually around 2:15) and you can't skim as you are tested on his life stories and his examples. The class itself isn't too difficult but the test and quizzes were. If you take this class be ready for lots of notes and listening.
It is very easy to see where he stands on the issues presented in class and that is how he teaches unfortunately. Lectures are often 3 hours long and you have to download the power points and when you do not have the best wifi that often takes as long as the lectures. The exam review session are a waste of time, and he does not answer questions.
Dr. Hussain is one of the best profs I have ever had. He truly goes above and beyond for his students and always checks in on how we are doing. He mentioned during the very first lecture that he wanted to do everything in his power to ensure that we all got good grades, and he delivered! The class was super easy and lectures were optional but fun!
Professor Fayyaz Hussain is hilarious, though his lectures are long and just general information he's so funny that I like the class. You can get away with not reading the textbook but it definitely helps! No HW just quizzes and exams which are usually straight forward.
Awful class, do not recommend. Lectures were 2 hours long twice a week due to his constant rambling. Course material was heavily swayed by his political views and he often said very offensive things. No homework points, only quizzes once a week and exams which made my grade suffer.
Prof. Hussain is literally the most iconic professor! He is so funny with his sassy remarks he doesn't like it when you have your phone out (like any professor), but he's incredibly kind when he tells you to put it away. This class was interesting, and I'm not usually a "school person" but I loved this class! use color pens to take notes, it helps!
I loved him. I took his class online, so I dont know him in the classroom but basically we just had a lecture and quiz each week. He gave all the questions before each quiz and the class was overall easy. Theres a book but its easy to get a 4.0 without reading. Would highly recommend doing the service learning for extra credit, I learned a lot.
I love this man. He is so fun to listen to and his course work is really easy. If you ever have questions, his TA's as well as him are always willing to help. My one advice is to take notes in this class as he does tell stories that are mentioned in his quizzes. Again, 15/10 teacher. Lotsa love for daddy Fayyaz
Dr. Hussain does a good job of keeping lectures fun and engaging. The only downside is he lets his political bias affect the class. As long as you show up to class and pay some attention to the basics it is very easy to pass.
Fayyaz is the best professor at MSU. If you have to take ISS freshman year, do anything you can to take it with him. He actually makes the lectures interesting and has a good sense of humor. He also takes time every lectures to give the class a break and asks how everyone is doing. This is one of few professors that actually wants you to succeed.
Not perfect, but I really liked him. Quizzes and exams are open note although sometimes the questions are a bit confusing. You can get a lot of extra credit if you volunteer.
I love Professor Hussain. He is so sweet and his lectures are really interesting. His quizzes and exams are fairly easy but make sure you read the books because there are several questions on the exams regarding book questions. I'm taking ISS315 with him over the summer and I'm very excited to have him again!
If he tells you to buy a book, don't. He is a super nice guy and all you had to do was watch an online lecture and take a quiz. There were about 4 exams that were all super easy and the lowest gets dropped. Very easy class and I recommend if you are just trying to get your ISS credits out of the way.
I personally found this course to be a time waster. The lectures were almost two hours long, twice a week, and they would just drag on and you didn't get much out of them, especially since everything was posted online anyways. There was basically no point in attending lecture. The class itself is easy, but I wouldn't recommend going to the lectures
Dr. Hussain is so sweet! The class is very easy as he posts all the lectures online, and there is one quiz a week. There is no homework for the class besides one (non graded) assignment per test. As long as you watch the lectures, the class is an easy 4.0
The lectures are incredibly long and boring. The professor often talks too fast for me to get all my notes down and I end up missing information because of it. The workload in this class is very small but your grades depend only on your tests and quizzes which can be difficult because he tends to phrase questions weirdly.
Such a fun professor! All of the content and his stories were very interesting. Took his course last year and genuinely enjoyed it. All of the quizzes are online and you can take them at any time. Pay attention to the readings and his stories, but the lectures are interesting!!
If you are looking for somewhat-easy class with occasional entertaining lectures, I recommend taking his class. He checks up on us after our breaks in between the lecture and has interesting stories to tell. He has open note online quizzes and exams which aren't horrible. Make sure you attend every lecture and do the reading and assignments
I will always remember Dr. Hussain. I was always super excited to go to his class. His lectures are amazing and he is so inspirational. All quizzes and tests are online and you can find a million quizlets for this specific course. The grading and everything is super clear and he is very flexible on due dates and stuff if you just talk to him.
To succeed in this class you must attend lectures and take detailed notes. But as long as you have good notes and pay attention, quizzes and exams are open note and straight forward. He is very passionate about his work and shares many interesting stories. The lectures are long but you get a break and he keeps you engaged.
Was not a fan of Prof. Hussain. His lectures were long and quite boring and he very often injected his own biases (albeit admittedly). My biggest pet peeve however, was his quizzes and exams often featured questions that were not covered in class or the textbooks. Easy class, lacking prof
Dr. Hussain is so funny and can always make me laugh during his lectures. Taking notes at his lectures are a must! Quizzes once a week but online and can be taken any time of the day just like the exams. He does have questions based on his personal stories so definitely take notes during those.
Hussain was very knowledgable about what he taught as well as a funny prof making the lectures more interesting. Attendance is mandatory and important. Quizzes weekly and 4 exams over the course of the entire semester. There was a bunch of content, definitely wouldn't say it's the the easiest class. If you pay attention you should slide by.
Hussain was a nice enough guy but this class was borderline unbearable. The lectures were so long and incredibly boring. Quizzes often tested how well you were paying attention, instead of how well you know the content. Everything was open book, though, so if you take good notes the class is extremely easy.
Really funny guy, tests aren't overly hard. Lectures can be unbearable at times, they can also be entertaining. Pay attention to his personal stories. My biggest issue with this prof is that there are several things he taught that had no reliable source. Things that seem interesting, google in class to cross check validity and they often are false.
Everything you're graded on (besides iClicker) is quizzes and exams. All of the tests featured questions that were misspelled or kind of unclear which made it hard to know what the answers were especially since you couldn't see the test problems afterwards. Funny lectures but bad tests and he said future classes won't have take home tests
Good Orator and makes the class laugh a few times per lecutre but it is a lot of lecutring.
He was funny at times, but overall this class is insanely boring and lecture heavy. He was difficult to understand, and the quizzes and exams had weirdly worded questions. Pay attention to the videos and personal stories, and take detailed notes.
Absolutely terrible. Lectures are extremely boring and he rambles about things barely related to the lesson for the entire 2 hour class. On a good day we're lucky to make it through 5 slides. I feel that I could easily teach the class and provide a far more insightful lecture in 30 minutes than he does in 2 hours.
Awesome class. Easy and a lot of the content is accessible on quizlet, etc. As long as you study a little you should be fine.
Lectures are very interesting and apply to the world around us
Very nice man, lectures you on everything you need to know, without tricks. As long as you go to the class you will easily pass with an A
final exam is cumulative=30%, first three exams=20%, you're able to drop one of the first three exams. Throughout this class I had an A, up until the final exam which you are unable to drop, this class is very quiz and exam-heavy. The professor is very snappy, and responds to any type of questioning as if you're threatening his authority.
This class ruined my 4.0 GPA. I do better in classes that are exceptionally harder in content and I think this is because I very much dislike the way this class is set up. I bombed the first quiz because I focused on conceptual aspects of the content but he gives questions that are extremely specific to personal stories he tells. No quiz drops
Amazingly passionate professor! Learned alot, and be sure to start reading both textbooks early.
Open notes on all quizzes and exams. This professor offers .5 extra credit, so if you had a 3.5, your GPA could go to a 4.0. The extra credit is volunteering, which was very easy and I did not need it anyway, but it was nice to have in case I did. Lectures can feel long sometimes, but go as he tells stories that are on the quizzes and exams.
While this class had a lot of reading, it wasn't necessarily difficult. Lots of bad grades I heard in this class resulted from lack of participation. Professor Hussain is a good guy with at times funny points in his lectures. Regardless of the lots of reading, he made the class very enjoyable. There also isn't a lot of homework!
Extremely easy class. There are weekly quizzes, but all the answers are on quizlet. Exams are super easy too and he dosent use any lockdown browser. His lectures are a little boring at times, but he tries to keep everyone engaged and he tells some pretty interesting stories. He's also one of the funniest and nicest professors.
He was great! If you get a 4.0 there is an opportunity to work for him if it is open, thats what I've been doing for the past three semesters. Really cool. He's funny and most of what you need to know are in the lectures. Quizzes every week and four exams but one of them gets dropped. Make use of the PAL study sessions they're helpful.
Pretty easy class everything on quizlet. Professor is a raging liberal and spends the each lecture shitting on America. Very painful to sit through everything you learn is complete bs and just his opinion that he forces on his students.
Hussein is a great professor. The lectures can be pretty long and boring, but that's not his fault that's just the way ISS classes are structured. You can 3.0-3.5 the class with quizlet, but sometimes quizlet is wrong and can f you over. So pay attention a little in lectures so you know at least a little about the material and go to class.
This is the most boring class I have ever taken. He'll be talking about the lecture slide, and then all of a sudden he's on a 30 minute tangent about whatever, and then that story he took 30 minutes to explain will be on the quiz/exam. The only good thing is the no lockdown browser from quizzes or exams. But this class is so boring
super long and boring lectures. his lectures are based on his life examples. other than that u can always reach out, he doesnt take long to respond. no assignments or hw for credit. just quizzes attendance and exams. a 4.0 is easily achieveable
I felt like he always enjoyed teaching! The course is very lecture heavy, so taking detailed notes is best. He uses a lot of examples and stories in his exams/quizzes, so make sure you're always paying attention bc it may not be in the slides!!! very funny guy very passionate about the subjects, awesome 10/10
The class is pretty easy but superrrrr boring bro is a certified yapper. The quizzes are pretty easy since he includes his personally stories so make sure you're paying attention.
LOVE HIM! he yaps alot which is okay but the only annoying thing is he uses personal stories in his quizzes/exams but overall hes chill.
Professor Hussain's class is engaging, with weekly quizzes and helpful study sessions. While the lectures can drag at times, he keeps things interesting with his stories. unstuck study was a lifesaver for exam prep.
A LOT OF MATERIAL. Went over 2 textbooks and roughly 20 chapters of content. Engaging and humorous personality despite the long lectures. Lots of quizzes for attendance, Chapters, and exams. Content focused class.
Fairly difficult class, but the professor gives great insight on various global topics and has very nuanced views on complex subjects that he explains pretty well. This class is definitely worth taking for anyone who wants to be more knowledgeable about the world around them.
if u use quizlet, this class requires 0 work. every quiz/exam open note with almost every question on quizlet. if u actually try, all of the info u need is in his lectures. pay attention to his stories, they will be on the tests. i never read a page of the textbook. the class is boring but he's a very engaging speaker with interesting stories.
I loved this class. Very interesting topics discussed, and it's clear that the professor loves his job. Quizzes and tests were open note, but some questions were on Dr. Hussain's personal stories, so make sure to write those down. Although the books are required, I just went to the study sessions offered by one of the TAs instead.
Professor Hussain loves what he teaches and you can clearly tell. All exams and quizzes are open note and done in class(pretty easy if you take notes). There are textbook questions of exams but he does a textbook review lecture and gives the answers essentially. The class is almost 2 hours but he gives a half way break and most days he ends early.
I absolutely LOVED Dr. Hussain! You have to take notes on his stories, but they are relevant to what we are covering and they are entertaining. You have to take a lot of notes, but only the quizzes we do once a week are graded. The only reason I didn't get an A in his class was because I got sick and missed some of his lectures.
Nice, funny professor who is clearly passionate about his job. Hard to pay attention because you're sitting in the same spot for two hours straight. Relatively easy assessments and easy to understand concepts. Class is heavily graded on assessments, so if you do bad on quizzes your grade goes down pretty badly.
This class was very lecture and quiz/test heavy. If you attend the lectures and go to the study sessions this class will be easy. It is unnecessary to buy the textbooks. This class was super informative though.
Hussain was great overall. The lectures, while long and a bit boring, were engaging. The class includes weekly quizzes and four exams. Hussain does have a thick accent, which can sometimes make him difficult to understand. Advice: Take detailed notes on everything, even things that seem insignificant—they often come up again later.
he's a nice guy but his lectures are so monotonous and repetitive. everything is on quizlet too
The class is easy ash but so boring
The class was structured in a way where it was easy to succeed. Lots of note taking but he uploads the slides to D2L. All quizzes (usually every other week) and exams are open note open book. He doesn't hesitate to crack a joke or a tell a good story! Highly recommend for your ISS credit and would take a class of his again.
Hussain is passionate and tells great stories, but his quizzes and exams can be confusing, with repeated or random questions. Some content on quizzes and exams aren't covered in lectures or assignments, making prep difficult. Reading the textbook is highly recommended (quizzes don't test textbook chapters but exams do)
There is iClicker and a quiz every week, you must go to class and take notes. All quizzes are lecture based, and exams will have textbook questions too. The questions can be confusing, and in class he can ramble, so try to pay attention, but overall he is a very good teacher.
I lived in Akers and had this class so it was so convenient. iClicker was geolocation so I didnt have to leave my room. All the exams and quizzes are on quizlet. I never went to class or studied and got a 4.0 so I would def recommend this class.
Pretty easy class if you listen to his lectures closely and take good notes. Everything is open note, and you get an exam drop.
This class was fine. No hw and all quizzes/exams are on quizlet, not 100% right all the time tho. He screams at you every lecture and makes you feel like a bad person for being able to go to college. He is unintentionally funny though. Heavy accent but easy to understand. Hard to 4.0 if you don't cheat. DON'T SKIP CLASS.
Not a fan of him. his lectures are boring and the only grades are quizzes and exams. Uses iclicker for attendance
I appreciate Dr. Hussain's passion for what he does, however, I would not recommend this class. The lectures are very boring and he WILL call you out for not paying attention. The quiz questions are very specific to what he says in lecture, so if you do not pay full attention for the whole two hours you will miss stuff.
Very passionate about the course but if you don't pay attention in lecture it's hard to do amazing on the weekly quizzes and the exams. They ask very specific questions about what he said during lecture so make sure you pay attention. You will get called out if you sleep or are on your phone in class. Quizzes and exams were open note so not to bad.
I enjoyed the lectures, but the quizzes were confusing and needlessly difficult in comparison to the class material. Class is exclusively attendance(mandatory), quizzes(every Thursday), and exams(4 total, last one is cumulative). You get one exam drop, though. If you go to class every day and take notes on every single word he says you can do great
super long lectures, and if you dont take notes about every single thing he says, your going to fail the quiz. you have a quiz every single week, but theyre open note. he will clock you for not paying attention though, especially about your airpods.
I wouldn't look both ways before crossing the street on my way to class.
It was very clear he was passionate about the subject and made it easier to be engaged as well. However, the only grades are quizzes and tests and the questions tend to be pretty specific.
I loved this class. While the class is very lecture heavy, the lectures are so much fun, and you do learn a lot from this class. There are a lot of readings to do, but to be honest the readings are not hard and the professor goes over the readings in class in case you forget to read a chapter. The quizzes and exams are all open note.
He was very confusing. He relied primarily on lectures and slideshows with vague bullet points. He couldn't clearly convey his message about the bullet points and offered no way to find his explanations outside of class. He was incredibly rude.
Made my roommate crash out and i legit saw only pure hatred in his eyes for this man.
The class is the most boring thing known to have ever existed on the planet earth. Sitting there is like watching paint dry. You can do well if you cheat, otherwise you'll get a mediocre grade. The final exam is the same as all the other ones, so it's chill and you won't have to worry at all. I would take it again since its so easy to do well.
This class was the most boring thing to have ever existed since the dawn of time. Easy to cheat on tests and weekly quizzes, there are also ways around the attendance. The final exam was the same as every other exam. I never studied once and ended with a high grade.
Overall, Fayyaz is a good professor. Likes to make jokes and does well staying neutral on political discussions. Note taking is critical. Some random stuff he says in lectures ends up on the exam. Textbooks are used but not really required. Just ask AI to provide overview notes and that'll suffice.
You will be forced to sit there and listen to him talk for two hours and take non-stop notes. Every story he tells will be on the exams, so pay attention to the minor details. I went to every lecture and took notes on EVERYTHING and still couldn't understand the exams/quizzes. Overly hard and complicated wording.
Easy 4.0 Topics are pretty much common sense but interesting, however, a portion of your grade is iclicker attendance. The weekly quizzes and midterms ask many questions about the lectures specifically. No homework. Professor Hussain is great at lecturing and his stories are very entertaining. Quizlet is gonna be ur best friend. Easy to cheat lol
He is such a sweet guy, some people struggle with his accent, but really it is not bad AT ALL. The quizzes come from the lectures, and you cannot get the information he says in class from the provided D2L slides. Also, he will tell stories, and he quizzes on the stories. Very kind just go to lecture and write detailed notes:)
The lectures were really well thought out, like you could tell he has been teaching this class for a long time. Beware the final exam is more difficult then the other exams and it can tank your grade. Hussain is not rude but he is socially awkward so just keep that in mind. Grading is handled by the ULAs who do not care so you will get no leeway.
Talks nonstop. It's hard to keep up with his talking when he has an accent and talks fast. Quizzes are annoying. I would get an 8/10 half the time, and they wouldn't say what I got wrong. Overall, I don't like this class, and it dropped my GPA. I have 4.0 in every other class except for this one. Grade relies on exams, weekly quizzes, attendance.
I would say only take this course if you are really interested in learning about it, since the content is very lecture-heavy. You'll have a quiz or an exam every Thursday, so you really need to listen to what he says. Also, the extra credit is worth A LOT, so even if you think you are doing well in the class, just do it either way.
Hate this professor and hate coming to this class. Very test-heavy, quizzes every Thursday, always trying to cram in boring content, and probably one out of his 30 stories was actually interesting. Easy 4.0, just do iClicker at your dorm and keep it open until he opens it. And copy and paste questions into search to find Quizlets with the answers.
Professor Hussain is very obviously passionate about what he teaches which I greatly respect, however because of that the lectures can sometimes drag and be a bit boring. If you're interested in what he's teaching, it's going to be a great class. All tests/quizzes online with answers on quizlet.
2 hours of pure agony. I hated Tuesdays and Thursdays so much that I would come 25 min early to class just so I can find a seat in the back rows. Every single seat in the back 3 rows were filled. From milk stories to reading off the slideshow, you'll be more concentrated on trying to understand him than the actual lesson. Don't fall asleep either.
I have many bad words to say but this would get removed. Such a THICK accent. Almost unmarketable tomato level. I'm sure watching paint dry, filling out tax forms, or counting grains of rice would be more enjoyable than this. I would rather graze my square against concrete for 2 hrs every Tuesday & Thursday than listen to milk stories again.
No Homework so all you really have to do is show up for the 2 lectures Tuesday and Thursday. Quizzes every week and 4 Exams including the final but everything is open note. He is really passionate about his lectures but can be long and repetitive. Easy class if you just show up and take notes. Not hard to understand his accent IMO.
