Excellent teacher. Very helpful, and fair
He is really a great Professor who wants students to pass! He does everything in his power to help you... he even goes over the test questions before the exam ... so pay attention
He is a very nice and helpful teacher. I hope he continues teaching.
Dr. Aasi so far is my favorite teacher throughout my college career. He makes sure that EVERYONE understands the information he's giving. English isn't his primary language but he's very understandable. His test and lab practicums were straight from the book and his lecture notes. AWESOME PROFESSOR!
He just needs to work on following his lecture notes..but other than that. VERY GOOD PROFESSOR. HE CAN TEACH! Everything he states in class is what's on the test. So as long as you pay attention and make it to class everyday! you'll do fine!
GREAT Techer! He explains everything. Whatever he lectures or whatever on his handounds are the one that will come out on the exam. You just need to pay attention to his lectures. I highly recommend him.
Great professor. He cares about his students and tries to use analogies with his lectures to make it easy for you to understand. Highly recommend him.
Very good teacher. Study your notes and review handouts. It will be on the exam. Attempts to expain each lesson very clearly. Study pictues for lab, review, study functions and you will pass the class
Dr.Aasi is an awesome professor..very interested in seeing his students succeed..
Took him for anatomy and now taking him for physiology. The best prof ever. Very helpful, smart, kind and cares very much for his students' understanding of material. Hes amazing and I would take more classes with him anytime. Ive worked really hard in his classes, but I learned a lot. Take him.
I have took Anatomy class with other professor at other college and I did not know what to study and did not understand the lecture and I dropped the class.Once I took his class,I knew he is the right professor for me.The lecture is very clear and I've learned a lot.I will take Physiology with him next semester too.
love this man!i was real scared about taking this class because you hear so many horror stories about how hard it is but dr. aasi made it sooooo easy. with his lectures, reviews and study guides it really helped!he cares alot about having his students succeed and i really wish he would teach more classes. would advise anyone to take him.
Dr. Aasi had a difficult challenge with our class - 8 hour Saturday class. He explained all the material and went over it to make sure we understood. I would recommend him highly.
Dr. Aasi was awesome. He is so helpful and understanding to his students needs. I took Anatomy 32 with him, it is a lot of information to retain, but if you study his exams are easy. I recommend him because he is truly interested in his students advancement. He emails very helful handouts too. Sometimes, he was too linient on some students.
Dr. Asai emailed an outline of the course along with chapter outlines weeks before the semester began. He was very helpful and extremely thorough in his lectures!
DR AASI WAS AN EXCELLENT PROFESSOR! HE STARTS FROM THE BASICS AND ALL THE WAY TO THE HARD STUFF & EXPLAINS WELL. VERY HARD CLASS NOT BECAUSE OF HIM BUT DUE TO THE MATERIAL ITSELF. FUN PROFESSOR, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. JUST DONT BE LAZY, YOU NEED TO STUDY FOR HIS CLASS AND PAY ATTENTION. PHYSIO IS HARD.
The most caring professor I have ever had (4 years undergrad already completed - back in school for prereqs). PAY attention in class and you will be fine. Attendance is a must because his outlines are just that - outlines. If you want an A, you need to listen and take notes.
great teacher. Has an accent but overall he is great. He cares about students passing and explains material thoroughly. tests are based on his notes.. you must show up to class in order to better understand the material. highly reccomend Dr. Aasi!
Dr Aasi, is very prepared,he actually teaches, and he is also a great person. His accent wasn't a problem for me at all.I think every person has challenges, but Dr Aasi has shown the ability to overcome and it is that motivation that motivates me as a student and as a person. He's very patient too.I would highly recommend him to anyone.
Great teacher!Extremely funny &clever! He really loves what he's doing&wants you to do well.Use book for final&last test.LOVE the accent!
Took Dr. Aasi's summer class very good and straightforward guy, his test required some studying but overall it was a fair class, Dr. Aasi is a funny man as well, take him to learn and leave with a great sense of humor in Anatomy.
Dr. Assi is an excellent professor. He is extremely approachable, grades fairly and has an awesome personality. Just study the notes (exam questions correlate directly with the notes) and review the pictures in the textbook for the Lab practicums and you'll definitely get an A in his class.
Definitely not an easy course if you are looking for an easy way out. You need to study and study some more. A little bit inconsistent on tests but if you study, you won't have a problem. Other professors will not be so lenient.
Dr. Aasi is very thorough! If he even feels like the class is not understanding he will break it down so that everyone is in agreement with the concept. I would recommend him to anyone. I will be taking him for physiology too!
Professor Aasi really cares for his students and really wants them to do well. The tests are pretty easy if enough time is spent studying for it. DR. Aasi always goes over the lab tests before giving them so you know what to expect.
Dr. Aasi knows his business. He's very knowledgeable and sweet. He seems to have mastered his Science. He cares so much bout students, it's ridiculous. People don't like him cus he's "hard" but Anatomy overall is a hard subject.. so might as well just pick a teacher who will make sure you get it right. My A was hard work, but Aasi was chill!
Dr.Aasi is the best instructor I ever had. He's very helpful, kind and caring. The subject itself is very hard but he can make it easy to understand. He also provides handouts and study guides. Although his accent is hard to understand, you will get used to it. I highly recommend him!! :D
Accent understandable 2wks n 4 me. Very friendly, sometimes too friendly too lenient on students. Easy class if you study at least 15hrs+ a week. Hard class if you don't. Lectures randomly off his powerpoint notes-leaving you confuse on the location from the printable notes. Can't pass this class? STAY AWAY from the medical field. Nine04Eight
I really did not like him as a teacher. He was VERY RUDE, didn't want to answer our questions about the exam. We only did 3 abs the entire semester, 97% of the class is lecture. He was very hard to understand because of his accent. He showed no mercy on the exams and lab tests. I dont think he really cared about his students passing the class.
Dr. Aasi just wants his students to understand the material. His ppts stick with the book and is you study the amount of time necessary for a 4 unit course you will be fine. Tests are to the point. He does provide a study guide that you should stick to for tests.
Worst teacher Ive ever had. The subject is difficult but he makes it much worse. Very hard to understand & doesnt seem to care about the students. Now im taking the class with Dr Mike & its much better!
HATED THIS TEACHER! you can barely understand him because of his accent. He did not like explaining things more than once and acted like the material was so easy when its really not. The tests and lab practicums were tricky and he did not give you everything u needed to know before taking the exams. I would never recommend this teacher to anyone.
He is a very good professor...People who say he is bad probably think Anatomy is supposed to be easy and it's not. You must STUDY...he emails the notes, gives A LOT of extra points here and there, and makes the class interesting. you will never get out of class early though. I would definitely recommend him. He will prepare you well for Physiology!
Great professor, is very helpful as long as you ask for help. Tests are multiple choice, and he sometimes reviews the material before the test. Sends notes, study guides, and even the lab practi****to study. His test are directly based on what he teaches. Really great professor and wouldn't mind taking him again but does not let you go home early.
Professor Aasi is a great teacher who genuinely cares for his students. Yes, Anatomy itself is a tough subject but he explains things very well. You'll have to get used to his accent and his soft voice but if you don't understand something, just ask and he will help you! His notes are very helpful and gives out study guides as well.
Dr. Aasi is a GREAT teacher, very kind and he genuinely cares about his students. He knows his stuff! He emails lecture notes and reviews the Lab practicums. You will get an A if you study hard. Overall, it was fairly easy for me and I took Anatomy 32 in the summer. I'll be taking him again for Microbiology in the fall.
Professor Aasi is a great professor. He gives extra credit and anwers ALL questions. The class is hard but, he doesn"t make it more difficult then it already is. TAKE HIM
Great guy. Good sense of humor. Tells helpful stories. When he doesn't read from the powerpoint, his lectures are engaging and stimulating.
It is his first time teaching Microbiology. I realize it is Dr. Wallano that is working behind him, so it is not Dr. Aasi's problem. There is an exam that was worth 10 chapters. I am assuming his next microbiology class will be better. You better have your lab coat at all times or he will send you home, and it is a policy that he has to follow.
Very diffucult class. Very by the book. You have to remember everything and no guideline of what will be on the exam. On exams asks the most minor things when you are trying to grasp the most important things. Has a lot of online resources to help study, almost too much.
Hard2 understand.Accent w/ raspy speech impediment.Has headset&speaker,but doesnt work,so its unsure Y he has it.VERY unorganized.Changes his mind @last minute like:HW/Quizes,due dates/adds new HW/omits HW,etc.Makes anouncements late,relies on emails 4 communication.4getful.Pupils shouldn't have 2pay the price 4him being new2 teaching micro.Terible
His the worst teacher ever. His not clear, changes his mind, gives a lot of homework and he doesn't help his students..
Dr. Aasi is the best teacher ever. He is understanding to all student needs. I have never met anyone that was into helping his students pass. I Love the student/teacher relationship we had. It will probably be hard to find another. Thanks for everything Dr. Aasi. I will never forget you and will keep you and your family in my prayers.
The class was not eash but if you study you will pass the class. The professor was very helpful. I would reccomend him.
Dr. Aasi was consistent with his lectures. Followed a very structred agenda but, never the less, he helped us get through this HARD course.
I gained a lot from the professor and the class. Sometimes oral communication between the professor and me was an obstacle but i have managed it.
I would not recommend this professor. Difficult to understand, did not lecture for final review, instead played a recording from his morning class to save his voice. More organization needed also!
Unorganized. Can't understand him. Will not help the students that are in danger of failing the class.Lacks understanding of personal situations from his students. Changes his mind CONSTANTLY. Would not recommend
Professor was very helpful. I was one of the students who was struggling. Ended up passing the class with a B. Don't expect to get a good grade, if you don't study and put effort.
I highly recommend Dr. Aasi, who was my professor in both Anatomy and Physiology. He presents the material in a very clear and concise manner and provides excellent notes. He is very helpful and fair and his tests are all based on his lectures. He is thorough and provides a solid foundation of knowledge. Best college professor I?ve ever had!
Would recommend.Fair. Online assignments are from the text, so READ your book. If he changes due dates, it's because students are asking for extension and if he adds more HW,it's in the best interest of his students..hint:to get more points. We are in college, so if you don't study, don't complain about failing and definitely dont point the finger.
Dr. Aasi is a great professor, he is very understand and he truly cares for his students. He emails lecture notes and is very fair to everyone. I took him for Anatomy and Microbiology and he is a wonderful teacher!! i highly recommend him. You have to work for an A but it is totally do-able if you take some time to study!!!
Dr. Aasi, is one of the Best Professor’s I've had the fortune to learn from! He's loyalty and dedication to teaching is admirable! I recommend Dr. Aasi to anyone that want's to learn and want's to get ahead in life! But don't blame him if you don't succeed, as it is not upon him, but in your own will and driving force to achieve your own goals!
Excellent instructor, If you want to know your science, take him. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a sense of humor.
This class is not easy so you have to study. Dr. Aasi is very helpful he gives study sheets for every test and posts notes and power points on etudes and will clarify anything if you do not understand it. But you must study to get a A. Also there is usually extra credit given.
I think Dr. Aasi is knowledgable teacher and teaching skills are very good. The only problem was i sometimes had a hard time understanding what he said because of his voice. But I appreciate his concern in teaching the students. He's a very good instructor!!
Dr. Aasi provides all the materials you will need to be successful in this course. He is fair and lenient to an extent. He is very helpful, understanding and sincere in his care for his students. Even with all the information you will be provided, you must put in the work in order to be a successful student. Good luck and have fun!
Very helpful, provides all the tools you will need to succeed in the course - pwr pt notes, study guides, online practice quizzes, reviews before exams. Do not expect to do well in the class without studying, including the textbook. Cares about his students doing well.Takes the time to explain unclear concepts, just ask. Gives lots of extra credit.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! SO SWEET THOUGHTFUL HELPFUL AND REALLY WANTS TO SEE YOU DO WELL. I CRIED THE LAST DAY OF CLASS BECAUSE HE MADE CLASS SO ENJOYABLE AND I WAS GOING TO MISS THE CLASS AND HIM VERY MUCH. AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!!! DONT COMPLAIN IF YOUR NOT GOING TO PUT THE WORK IN THOUGH, YOU WORK HARD FOR THE GRADE YOU WANT AND GET.
Very helpful professor. Make sure you read the book. You can barely hear him when he lectures so you might want to sit in the front and don't be afraid to ask questions. You get out of it what you put into it.So for those who hate this class and complain they got a bad grade, you probably didn't make the effort of studying.Good luck and study :)
He makes sure you understand the material and he loves to answer all your questions. Even though he maybe hard to understand at times, he puts all his lectures on Etudes which are really helpful and make sure you read the book at all times. The test is straight from lectures and the book!! Study hard and ask questions, he really does help!
Very competent as a teacher. His course material is really well organized. Great support to get good grades. The class was way easier and enjoyable than I initially predicted.
Microbiology is a very demanding course, so if you want a grade you must be prepared to work for it. That said Dr. Aasi does everything in his power to help you succeed (notes & power points are uploaded online, links to helpful animations are provided, links to practice quizzes are provided, & he provides reviews for tests). He is a great prof!
Dr. Aasi was a pleasure. He has a true passion for his students success. Physio is by no means easy, but he provides extensive resources to help his class. He want's everyone to succeed and genuinely cares--if you put in work he will make sure that happens for you. I found it helpful to read to chapters as his test questions are worded similarly
Exellent professor, a true professional. He provides extese material for his class and if you really want to do good, you have everything you need. Very encouraging and humble.
Dr Aasi is the best I took him for Micro and Physio, I appreciate his teaching technique: power point and lecture. He works with the students at all cost, the only way you will fail this class is if you dont study at all. listen during lecture and go over his power point notes and you are guaranteed an A or B! I had a blast in both courses Thx Prof
Very nice, caring and intellectual person. Microbio is a very demanding class- materials + 5 units. Felt like I don't have a life whole sem-study, online assignment, study, short quizzes, exams +unknown proj and more studying. But in the end, I LEARNED A LOT!!! Take him,you won't regret. Much better compared to other profs in Compton. Thanks Dr. Aasi!
He is a great teacher. If I could I would take him for all my science courses.
Dr. Aasi was by far one of the best prof I had in the science dept at this college! Attend lecture, read the book, study his power point slides, and turn in all your assignments, you def can get an A in his class! He really wants his students to succeed and is willing to help if you ask! This class is A LOT of work esp the unknown bac project!
Dr. Aasi is great, more professors should have his attitude. He's passionate about teaching his students well. He's a flexible grader and grades scantron tests immediately. It helped me to read along with the book during lecture because he can be hard to understand sometimes. I took Anatomy 32 with him as well and recommend him for any class.
Dr. Aasi is a very nice teacher. He truly cares about his students and will help you. However you can't expect the class to be easy because the subject itself isn't easy. The labs can be confusing, so make sure to pay attention and try to read the manual beforehand. Tests and practicums are fairly easy. PPTs and notes are online to help you.
Dr. Aasi is amazing! I took this class during summer and it is definitely a demanding course. You have to work hard to get the A but he gives you everything you need to get it. It's all up to you to study! Extra credit, tests mostly based on lecture ppt. Take him, he actually cares about his students. One of the best professors I've had :)
Dr.Aasi is amazing! He's very helpful. This class definitely is hard, but he makes it do-able. Just attended his class everyday (DON'T SKIP) or you'll fall behind. His lecture mores help a lot.mLabs can be a but confusing just read the manual ahead of time. Study a little everyday. His lab practicums were the easiest! Take Dr.Aasi. He's the best!!!
Best teacher I've had so far and this is my 3rd science prereq. class for nursing. He might be difficult to understand at times but is willing to clarify. He's easily approachable and very knowledgeable. I took this class during the summer so everything was very compacted and rushed, but it was still a great experience. Take him!
Amazing professor. Definitely wants you to learn the material! He truly loves his job. Took this class during summer, really hard but if you study and do your work you'll be fine ! TAKE HIM !
Quite a helpful professor. Very caring to help students get a better grade. Give lots of extra assignments & points. Very hard class by itself, no doubt!! You have to read book, search online for more solution, etc., have to do your own hw. His accent is hard to understand & somewhat unorganized, other than that I think he's not so bad.
Dr. Aasi is a wonderful teacher! He's passionate about his job and cares about his students! His accent/voice is not hard to understand once you get acquainted w/ it, so don't worry about that. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. His class does require you to study and work hard, but it's not that difficult if you stay on top of everything.
Dr Aasi is a wonderful professor! Very kind, polite and eager to help his students. Microbiology is not easy and he does his best to help each student earns the highest grade possible. You do have to do your part and read the book, attend class and study daily. Im single, worked full time with 2 kids and got an A. It is possible.
DR. Aasi Is a great professor. He really cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He helps you in anyway he can. I highly recommend his class. Go to class everyday. Skim each chapter before going to class and study your notes and youll be fine.
Dr. Aasi is a very understanding professor but you must attend class. Make sure to read the book and ask questions. Make sure to sit in the front or near the front to hear him. He has a very soft voice. If you do not get the text book you are in for some trouble. Check for online daily to ensure you do not miss anything.
Dr. Aasi is a great professor but be prepared to study, study, study! These classes are not easy and you must work to earn the grade you want. Dr. Aasi is very helpfull and wants all his students to succeed. Ask questions and he is very willing to help out his students who want to learn.
Dr. Aasi is a great professor who is willing to help each and every student. The material isn't easy, you need to study to do well, but Dr. Aasi gives you all the materials you need to do so. There are 4 lecture exams, and 4 lab practicums. if you study hard each day, you will get an A!
Dr. Aasi, is a well educative professor he knows his stuff. The class is hard, and with that being said daily studying is important, but he tries his best to make it understandable. Answers any questions no matter what. Provides lots of study materials beside the book. Although he does have a soft voice don't let that keep you from taking his class
Dr. Aasi is well and organized professor not like any other science teacher, you can tell he wants everyone to strive and pass his class. Microbiology is not an easy class at all, but taking it with him will be the best decision. So if you hear any negativity is bcz they didn't do the job. Otherwise he is an awesome professor!
Dr. Aasi is an AMAZING professor! He is knowledgeable and helpful and will answer all your questions. His tests are straightforward as are his labs. Must be prepared to study, study, study!
Love Dr.Aasi he is a respectful/gentlemen, very kind and helpful. If you study hard and do your best you will pass the class. Dr. Aasi gives you everything you need to know plus more, extra credit, loves his students. Hard to understand at first but you can get used to it. Sit in the front or in the back near the speaker he uses. A+ Professor!!
He is very hard to understand I would advise you to take another Professor he makes things harder than what it really is.
I took General Micro over the summer and was a little bit confused at first but after reading and asking questions everything became clear. Dr Aasi is really willing to help you and clarify anything that doesn't make sense but you must study the powerpoints and read the textbook. Come prepared with questions and he will explain it.
Dr. Aasi is a great professor! The material is tough and there's a lot of it, so make sure to keep up with the readings and review the power points. If you do your part, the class shouldn't be too hard. If you are unclear about something, don't hesitate to ask. Dr. Aasi is always willing to help you out. He wants you to succeed!
Dr Aasi , is a great example of what the meaning of a teacher is, he will go that extra mile to make sure you understand what is being taught, the class is not hard, but if you spend time studying you will get a good grade. his voice is a bit hoarse at times, but you are able to understand him, sit in the front. I will be taking Physiology with him
He has amazing resources to help you understand no matter what your learning style is. He is fair and very helpful, but a little tricky with test questions and qa assignments due to confusing wording from time to time. I suggest clarifying anything that seems a little confusing before submitting your assignments.
Professor Aasi is a great teacher that gives you endless resources to really help you learn the material! He does give a lot of assignments but nothing too hard and in the end those points really help! Ask him anything and he'll go over the topic. He is sometimes hard to understand due to his voice running out on him but he uses a microphone!
He literally puts everything you need to pass at your fingertips. It's just up to you to use the resources. Stay on task, and STUDY! The work is not difficult, but you cannot cram the amount of information you need to know for the exam. Extra credit, and the exams are straight forward. MEMORIZE THE HANDOUTS!! Loved this class; he's the best!!
Dr. Aasi is awesome! One of the nicest professors I've had in years. Class is hard but if you keep up with his power points and notes you will pass the class, must be prepared to study.
There can be a lot of material, spending time material outside of class is necessary. But Dr Asasi is fair and does not test on material not gone over.
I took two classes with Dr. Aasi, both Anatomy and Physiology. I highly recommend taking his courses. He's an MD and has been teaching for over two decades, so he is incredibly knowledgeable on the subject matter. He truly, genuinely wants his students to succeed and is very helpful. Can't recommend him enough, he's just a wonderful professor.
He is what your 'ideal' professor would look like! You will learn a lot, so prepare for that. He gives you literally everything you need to facilitate studying. YOU NEED TO STUDY! He is very understanding and helpful but the rest is up to you. He is a little hard to understand because his vocal cords have been overused, but it gets easier.
Really good teacher. You will definitely have to put in work to get a good grade but the professor is very generous. He will give plenty of extra credit and is always available to his students. Overall he is a good teacher who really cares about his students and wants them to learn and do well.
Dr. Aasi, is the most caring, understanding, organized instructor I have ever had. He is not easy but if you keep up and follow his power points and study you can get an A. I took him during the summer and he was a pleasure, always listening and making time for his students, he is very fair and he cares and tries to help his students.
Dr. Aasi has been in my opinion the best professor I've had at el Camino Compton. He give very great lectures, very informative. He has quizes on every chapter and grades them right after you take it, so students can see their grade right after. He is very fair and will go over the quizes and test. Pay attention to lectures, and read the book!
he is very knowledgeable in his subject so any question you ask you will be answered. GIves pop quizzes for every chapter. The homework is on etudes for every chapter as well which are all short answers. He is very difficult to understand because of his vocal cords so he uses a microphone but his accent doesn't help. Labs are confusing and unclear
Professor Aasi is a very nice man, but he is very difficult to understand,at times his voice can be very annoying. Assignments are done on Etudes , there is a quiz for every chapter. Personally, could never figure out where he got his exam questions from. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
It's been a great semester! I am so blessed to have even gotten into Dr. Aasis and to learn from him. I admire his dedication and genuine care for his students. The office hours, quick email responses, organized outlines and powerpoints, and continual patience throughout labs. Thank you for your efforts.
This semester was honestly one of the hardest semesters at Compton, but through all the struggles I appreciated having professor Aasi as my teacher. He is a great and talented professor and all the real life examples that he uses in the class with the lecture notes. Being in his physio class has taught me so much. Have a great winter break Dr. Aasi
Dr. Aasi is a gem of a professor. Despite all his knowledge, he is so humble and ready help students as much as possible. I learned so much this semester and look forward to another semester of learning microbiology class this spring semester. I will see you then Dr. Aasi and thanks for everything. Happy holidays to you and your loved ones.
DR Aasi is a knowledgeable teacher, his lectures comes from the power points, he gives you a quiz after every chapter, and online assignments. his exam are hard, but if you study you will do great. pay attention to his lectures, to pass his class I recommend you that you organize you time and make time to study, and attend class regularly. STUDY
I took Dr. Aasis Micro class last summer and physio in spring of 2015. The more I have studied Micro, the more I have thought about Dr. Aasi and his teaching style. I came to the conclusion that he is one of the best teachers that I have had. I just wanted to say thank you Dr. Aasi for teaching me and encouraging me.
Took his Fall 2015 micro class. He is always early in class. Some quiz questions reappeared on exams. His powerpoint lecture, chapter handouts and practice quizzes on Etudes. Pay attention during lecture and take good notes, which is where majority exam comes. Lots of memorizing required! Try not to mind the voice, you get used to it.
Dr. Aasi is one of the few teachers out there who really cares about the individual student. I took him for fall semester in both Micro and Physio classes at the same time. These subjects are NOT easy, YOU MUST STUDY!!! I relied solely on his notes and lectures and got a B in both classes. He jokes and has inspirational talks with the class
The professor does have an accent that can make somethings difficult to understand but he is always willing to repeat what he said or write it down. You have to be ready to study hard for this class but he imotivates his students and that makes you want to study even harder. He is always in his office ready to answer any type of questions
Dr. Aasi is the best science teacher I have ever had! He does have an accent and uses a mic when he lectures but even with that you have more than enough material to study from and follow along. He puts his power points and lecture notes on etudes so I suggest you print them out before class and take a look at them! Study hard and you can earn an A
I would 100% recommend Professor Aasi ! He really cares for his students and wants them to succeed. He gives quizzes for almost all chapters, which really help prepare you for his exams. He also provides his students with lecture notes. As long as you put in your time and effort there will be no problem getting an A in his class !(:
He's a good professor. Has a heavy accent, but you'll get used to it. Study his power points thoroughly and you should pass with an A! Attendance and being on time are a must! He's exams aren't difficult just make sure you understand the question correctly! It's a hard class as it is and a lot of info to take in, but he wants to see you pass!
The class is very hard, but you learn so much. There are a total of twelve quizzes and he drops two. The multiple choice questions are harder than the lab practicum. If you study all evenings and all weekends you will be fine. He is very helpful. He pushes students because he wants us to learn. I would take him again! Best challenge! Nice person!
Dr. Aasi is a wonderful professor and even greater human being. He is very knowledgeable on microbiology. His lectures do not entail him simply reading off a slide, similar to what you may find in other classes. An A in Microbiology is certainly feasible; it will only require that you continuously keep up with the readings. He offers extra credit!
Professor Assi organized his lecture to prepare the study and tests. He is very helpful and patient to all students. He was the best professor I have eve had.
Dr. Assi is the great professor. He really dedicated his effort to make us learn & study. We had quizzes after every chapters, online homework. Every science classs suppose to have a lot of work and need to study. Overrall I learned a lot from his organized lecture & power point and he wanted all students to succeed. Recommend to take him
Great professor, not an easy A, gotta study very hard , tests are hard, extra credit available. Read the book and study notes along with power points/handouts. Dont be late or going to miss a quizz.
I took Microbiology this summer (2 months, 5 units class). It is super heavy and lots of memorization needed. However, you sets your goal and go for it. Thanks to doctor Aasi, who dedicated , caring, & super helpful. I cannot thank you enough. He pays too much time and effort trying to help the students success. I tool him in both Physio&Micro .
Man, out of all my science professor in my academic career, none have been as caring as Dr. Aasi. The exams are pretty straight forward, if you read the text, review the notes (WRITE DOWN ANYTHING HE WRITES ON THE BOARD) and go over the powerpoints you should get an A. This class was beyond amazing. I've also taken him for microbiology. A++++++++++
Dr. Aasi is truly a caring professor. Grading criteria is very clear, therefore every point in the beginning matters! I strongly recommend reading chapters ahead of time since lectures will be lengthy and informative. Quizzes are given after most chapters so you are pretty much forced to study, but with that said, it's only beneficial for exams
I heart this teacher, I took his class in the fall and he was very fair. Dr. Aasi is one of my favorite teachers ever. u will get use to his voice. Study, study, study.
Great professor, one of the best at El Camino. Really cares about his students and their progress. Microbiology is a tough course alone, but Dr. Aasi really works hard to make the material as clear and understandable as possible. Be prepared to study and ready and keep up with lots of material.
Profesor Aasi has several years of teaching and is one of the most humble and admirable characters in this college. His passion and dedication to teaching makes any student feel very important. Thanks to his teaching I am now in the nursing program! Thank you professor Aasi! Never let me down!
Prof Aasi is great. He is helpful and cares about students. Just study the powerpoint and class notes a lot for the tests and quizzes. He gives you everything you need to succeed and the class is very organized. Some people say it's hard to hear him speak but it never bothered me and you already get the notes online so just bring those to class.
I would not recommend taking this class unless it is taken alone. Very demanding and a quiz class period. Will give lecture/lab after major exams. And uses a microphone to speak. Be prepared to read and self teach.
4 lecture test, 4 lab test, 1 unknown lab. 12 quizzes online, 12 quizzes in class, 12 lab. He counts the best 10 scores for the quizzes and lab HW. His tests are not too difficult, most are from his powerpoint. text not really needed. Lots of work, but very manageable. Getting A so far. Cares for students. Take him over all others.
I really enjoyed Dr. Aasi. He's caring, smart and very organized. I love how he has all his materials online. There are quizes, and homework and a fair amount of outside studying for this class. It's a lot of material but Dr. Aasi sets you up for success. Be prepared to stay for the entire class /lab time.
Good professor. Really cares. Tough subject, you better read everything and study hard. Doesn't miss a chapter. Quiz almost every meeting.
This man is caring and wants you to succeed. 4 exam. 4 lab test. Some extra credit. Lots of quizzes, but they only help you to stay on top of things. Labs were easy and fun. Lab test reviews are pretty much the test. He has lecture notes, powerpoints, and other resources to help you succeed. Easy A if you study a bit. Thank you Dr. Aasi!!!!!
Everything that needed to be said has been said on previous posts. Dr Aasi, thank you for the awesome class. One thing: he grades everything on the spot which I loved about him. You will know your standing in class at all times.
Good, kind, humble person. He is MD. He cares for you. Suggestion to professor: everything was good except perhaps we can get better lab instructions, perhaps a quick demonstration. Lab manual is different from our lab due to lots of missing materials. Lots of students were confused on the labs from what I can tell.
Doctor Aasi Is a very knowledgeable person. He has very heavy lectures but emphasizes the important portions on the board. Whatever is written on the board, expect questions about those topics on the exam. He really cares for his students and gives positive feedback. If taking physiology, be sure to refresh on anatomy so he doesn't go over in class
Professor Aasi is amazing and knowledgable. He provides additional online resources for studying and is happy to answer questions during lectures or before quizzes/exams. 4 exams and weekly quizzes. He is extremely approachable and truly wants to help his students succeed. Definitely recommend him :)
Dr. Aasi is a kind and humble man. He is a great professor and wants his students to succeed. He is accessible to his students. He gives you all the materials you need to pass the class. Try not to miss a class.
VERY upfront that u need to devote out-of-class time to succeed. A little hard to understand in beginning, but like everyone says, u get used to his voice. Dr Aasi has a big heart and wants students to do well. Really loved his sense of humor. HW can be tricky, quizzes/tests are hard (but he gives u everything needed beforehand, so no surprises)
Dr, Aasi is a good professor. He really cares of each student. Microbiology is a tough subject, so need to study hard and put your effort. He wants his students to succeed.
Wonderful professor! He cares about his students and tries to help them. A lot of information to memorize but he tries to break it down to make it easier. His lab exam reviews cover almost everything he will test you on so pay attention. His quizzes and exams can be a bit difficult but go over his PowerPoint handouts. You get used to his voice
Study, study, study. If you put in the effort, you will pass.
Dr. Aasi is such a kind, wonderful professor who truly cares about his student's success. His Micro class was difficult because it is such a foreign topic, however he breaks lectures down into simple terms & makes topics easily understandable. He is very organized & keeps you updated w. your points several times throughout the semester. TAKE HIM!
Dr. Aasi is very knowledgeable and is straight to the point. You really need to take the time to study from day one. I wouldn't recommend taking this course with another science class if you're trying to get an A. A lot of memorization goes into this class. He is great and will help you with any questions you have.
Professor Aasi wants his students to succeed, but you have to be willing to put forth the effort as well. He lectures pretty much the whole class, and there are quizzes usually the first 30 minutes of the class. The quizzes are random but he gives you advance notice regarding the information that will be on the quiz and which day it will be on.
Review lecture PPTs & study daily, read his layout from ea. chapters on etudes, record his lab review PPT(a must for me, hard time understanding his voice), ask questions, form a STUDY GROUP, do all assignments & extra credit. DONT PROCRASTINATE IN STUDYING! Lots of info. to memorize. It's not an easy class, but you can do it!
Dr. Aasi gives clear guidelines of grading from first day. Be prepared to memorize a lot. The subject is hard, NOT the instructor. He makes it easy with Ppt, handouts-(everything on Etudes from Day 1), use them well Take good notes, study well, and he gives Extra Credits. 12 quiz (drop 2), 12 assign (drop 2), 8 exam (4 lec & 4 lab)- Final included.
Had Micro 33 & Physio 31 same semester with Dr. Aasi. Was hard but POSSIBLE. Need time to adjust to his talking/VOICE. Great lecture (talks on Anatomy if you don't remember),but long. Use Etudes, takes notes, understand them, ask questions, Extra Credit. Don't complain IF NOT TRYING HARD. 12 quiz (drop 2), 12 assign (drop 2), 8 exam (4 lab,4 lec).
I took both physiology and microbiology classes from Dr. Aasi at the same time. He warned those who take the two core science classes together. It made me lots of effort to get A's from both classes. (I studied mostly from his powerpoints) Dr. Aasi tries to improve his teaching and wants his students to succeed for their career. Thank you Dr. Aasi
Such a great proffesor! He really tries his best to help you understand the subject and will repeat himself if need be. You do need to put your time in and study thought because the material is hard and there is a lot of it. Im happy I took him and would definitely take him again!
Professor Aasi is the best!! I just finished up the course, and it was an extremely easy class. Please don't buy the book! I bought it and didn't even open it. All lab and lecture exams are super easy when you study his slides. His slides are all you need to pass his class.
He is the best professor you could ever have. Very caring to his students and will really help you. All you need to pass in his class is to review all his powerpoints lectures that already summarized for you! Please take him and you won't regret it.
Dr. Aasi is an amazing professor! His lab and lecture exams are all based on the lecture slides. If you review the slides well and study in advanced, you can easily ace this class. Ask questions during lecture to clarify anything youre not sure of. He encourages office hours in case you need extra help.
Dr. Aasi is a very nice man, gives extra points. However if you have any "problems" outside the class like full-time job, children etc. the class will be a real struggle, as you need to do lots of work: learn every word from PPTs, read the whole book (some exam questions are based on readings), answer online questions. Not an easy A, the best PPTs
Professor Aasi did a magnificent job of introducing us to the concepts of Microbiology, hes very respectful when we ask questions and hes extremely knowledgeable about the subject. I would 100% recommend taking him!
Take Professor Aasi!! He is an amazing professor that really knows his stuff. He gives extra credit and sometimes curves the test. Don't be afraid to ask questions; he is willing to further explain the information. If you study everyday, you will pass.
Dr. Aasi has the best intentions. He wants his students to pass and succeed. However, the most difficult part of the class was understanding what he is saying. His accent is a bit heavy so it can be difficult if you are not listening closely. Very lecture heavy - memorize his power points!
Dr. aasi is a very soft spoken individual, yet he is full of knowledge which you have to be willing to take advantage of. He does lecture thoroughly, and attendance does matter. Apply yourself and you will succeed.
Dr. Aasi is a amazing professor. He cares for his students and be willing to answer the questions. Then dont be afraid to ask him questions. He explains the lectures very clear. You should come to class everyday and study lecture notes. For the lab exams, read carefully the questions and answer them. You could get an A.
Professor Aasi is an amazing teacher.. it can be difficult to understand him at times but just make sure you follow him during lectures.. powerpoints are given to students.. study those everyday and you should be able to pass this class . This is an intense class but doable If you attend class every time and and study daily
It is very difficult to understand him. His test are more difficult than my anatomy class and Micro class put together. You have to read the book too, not just the powerpoints. You will be teaching yourself 100% of the class, which is why his test are so difficult. If you ask him a question, sure he will explain, but you still wont understand..
Take this class if you already know the subject because you will not learn a thing Im his class, unless you teach it to yourself. You can hardly understand a word he says and he does not care if you dont understand him. I respect he has a PhD, but this class is by far the hardest. His final exam is cumulative and his wording is hard to understand
You have to put a lot of effort if you want to have a good grade. He's the most organized Prof I've taken so far. His lab exams are not so difficult and his lectures neither, the problem with his class is to procrastinate and start studying until the last minute and there's to much to memorize. Be on time because on prequizzes, he's PUNCTUAL
Look, his class is challenging but if you study you can pass. If you're looking for an easy A than this professor isn't for you. He gives a lot of extra credit so if you couldn't pass the class you didn't take the time to study the material.
Doctor Aasi is the most organized carrying teacher i have ever seen. The subject that he teach need just a little more attention from students. Try to work hard from day one and you pass with an A. I GOT TWO A FROM MICRO AND PHYSIO. Listen to his lecture he through some of the lecture exam questions. Good luck to everyone.
Dr. Aasi was a great professor. Be prepared to work. There are a lot of online homework assignments. Its best to get acquainted with your lab group and help each other. There's one major project. He does give extra credit throughout the semester. He's tough but fair. Attendance is mandatory and leaving early is not allowed.
Dr. Aasi is a very intelligent man who cares for his students, however; that doesn't guarantee you an A. You will need to pay attention in class, study outside of class, read the text book, and study gradually everyday. Micro is a not a class to procrastinate unless you're a genius. ha. This class and material can be fun. Don't get discourage.
Dr. Aasi is very fair. He understands physio can be very tough for many students and will always offer help and answer any questions. STUDY. DO NOT procrastinate. If you're strong in Anatomy then you will do well in his class. 12 quizes, 4 exams (lab and lecture), 12 online assignments. He drops 2 lowest quizes and assignments. Good luck!
TBH he kicked my butt! I took Micro and Phyo w/him while working FT and it was the most intense 5 months. Study! The more exposure, the more familiar you will be. I listened to youtube lectures in the shower, in the car, any downtime I had I would study. Dont get discouraged if you do bad on a test. There are opportunities to bump the grade.
Class is very Hard . He has a voice impairment so he uses a cheap microphone, but still no one understands him. . He gives a quiz literally in every class or in every other class period. His tests are very had. He skims through the study guide in lecture and lab and everybody has a hard time studying for those tests. Please don't take his class.
1) Read the PPT slides before each lecture 2) Use Google/Google Images/YouTube to look things up 3) Go over the slides at least 3 times before taking the quiz or exam. I did not read the textbook. It is not "high yield" information. YouTube videos are 100 better than actual lectures. You can always rewind or replay unlike a real lecture.
Dr. Aasi is truly good professor and a kind man. For those saying they cant understand him, they aren't actively listening. Yes, he uses a microphone because his voice is going but this is not an issue. His test and quizzes are entirely based on slides. Review slides REPEATEDLY and you will get an A. Gives you practicum slides and reviews them all.
Prof Aasi M.D., is very knowledgeable in the medical field, which is why he fit to teach biology courses. Microbiology contains dense material, therefore it is important to reference the textbook/lab manual, and not rely on his lectures alone. Also, ask him questions, keep asking until you understand it. He wants to help!
Hes genuinely an awesome professor! Hes so organized and prepared well for each lec and lab. Ive learned so many things. This course is tough to be honest, but you will get A as long as you follow him and do not procrastinating. Always prepare even the tiny quizzes and exams for sure.
Dr. Aasi has been my favorite science professor thus far. He really cares about his students and always pauses during lecture to take questions. As long as you keep up with the lectures and clearly understand them, you should do fine on quizzes and tests. He inserts several YouTube videos into his lectures, which are very helpful for studying.
I was amazed at the excellence with which Dr. Aasi conveyed the concepts in microbiology. Prior to attending this lecture I found difficulty in even conceiving of grasping such evidence-based concepts. I want to wish the good Doctor a speedy recovery, as though he had a medical procedure, his love for excellence compelled him to help our success.
Professor Aasi is very caring and loves his students! He wants to see his students succeed and will be there for them 100%. He always makes sure his students are understanding the material and pauses for students to ask questions. Micro is a tough class, so dont think its easy that is why as long as you put youre part in studying you will pass!
This class is online because of the Covid-19. He is an amazing teacher. His class is not that hard but you got to do the work. He is very nice and understanding. He cares about his students and he want them to succeed. Just study the material that he gives, show up to class, and ask questions when you don't understand an you will pass his class.
I don't understand the good reviews. He has a speech impairment and uses a microphone. Some people manage to understand him but I personally did not understand what he was saying half the time. He has a good heart but that doesn't mean students should struggle to understand what he saying.
Worst teacher has a heavy accent. Lectures for 4 hours non stop. If he sees he is behind schedule, he will skip sections but will still be on exam. Expects you to teach yourself. Gives lab homework and class participation to complete at home. He makes a lot of mistakes on exams. If you want to understand and pass his class, you must read the book!
He doesn't teach, he just reads slides to you for 4 hours. You can memorize everything he covers and still not be prepared for the test. He tests on things he didn't cover in class and if he did, the question on the test is at a way harder level than what he covered. He is also a very tough grader. You lose points for very small things.
Lots of quizzes maybe 2 a week and 3 exams + 1 final with each having 100 questions. 3 lab exams + final lab exam with each having 50 questions. Lectures are fine but his raspy voice is hard to understand. Read the book before quizzes and hope for the best for exams as they are long and hard. Make sure you study his ppts and read the book
A lot of technical difficulties with students so we started off with no proctoring exams, but then he changed his mind to proctoring. But in the end for finals, exams were not proctored because he got frustrated with students. 3 lecture/3 lab exams, 1 final lecture exam and 1 lab exam. Lab exams are easy but lecture exams are really hard/confusing
Super hard to understand almost like you are taking a class In another language. Very irrational with his grading, deducts points for no reason. Gets upset when you do not understand or question him. He makes you stay until the end of the class and randomly take role even if he is not teaching. So far the worst professor I have ever had.
Super hard to understand. Very irrational grading. Unreasonable.
I took Micro 33 with Dr Aasi in Fall 2018 and we started out with a lot of students. Though it was difficult to hear Dr Aasi, he doesn't mind repeating things if requested. You also need to listen to his lectures as he will pull specifics into the test questions. By finals, the class lost 5 students or so which tells you he's a great teacher.
He doesn't teach, only reads Excel powerpoints. If you asked him a question, he refers you back to his ppt. Professor doesn't like it when you noticed inaccurate or out dated info on his ppt. Irrational, unsupportive, doesn't give extra or accept late work. Language barrier, stay away. Don't waste your time.
He is a awful teacher, hard to understand because of hearing disability and language barrier. He literally makes things hard on purpose and is very irrational, anything he manually grades he gives low scores on. The tests and quizzes were easy because I taught myself via the book and the computer grades you, so the professor can't lowball.
Dr. Aasi really cares about his students. He is strict but means well to prepare students for the rigor and expectations of nursing school. Reading the chapter before class and coming in with questions for the lecture helped me a lot to get an A. He is patient and will answer any questions you may have.
I wish I could give him a good review because he has a good heart, but he is an irrational grader. He does not provide feedback on homework, and is difficult to ask questions.
Very informative
Great teacher hands down. He is reasonable if he see you are trying.
Dr Aasi cares about his students, he was very generous when assigning extra credit and making study guides. Attendance is required, since he mentions what will be on quizzes and exams. I only wished that he perform labs with the class so we know how to properly do them. Would definitely take him again.
Dr. Aasi is a great professor, He does have an accent but if you pay attention, you'll be fine. He helps you prepare for exams and gives you lots of advice on how to study an be successful. I recommend reading the chapter or skimming through it before class. Take great notes (he does lecture a bit fast), and review notes prior to exam/quizzes.
Dr. Aasi is an amazing professor! Well organized & straight forward. Breaks down all that he can to try & help you be successful in class. There are a lot of lectures and chapter readings but that is to be expected for a science class like this. So with that being said, review the power points, study guides & text book. Just take his class. Trust!
Microbiology is one of the hardest topics, but he makes it simple and well-organized. lecture slides are well-organized and explain clearly. He genuinely cares about students. This class makes microbiology easier. He gives weekly quizzes, are manageable. If you complete all quizzes and assignments and study. you should have no problem getting an A.
I recommend everyone to get the textbook it is a life saver. I will be honest his accent is very strong and heavy and hard to understand majority of the time but if you read the chapter on your own it follows his power points very well and you will pass his quizzes. Follow the provided lab power points and you will pass all his exams!
Professor Aasi can be strict, but he genuinely cares about student success. Staying on top of the readings and asking questions in class is key. unstuck AI was a lifesaver for my exam prep.
Very kind and knowledgeable professor. Respectful and helpful. Answers questions with gratitude and knowledge. Overall amazing professor! I would certainly take this professor again.
I took Microbiology and Physiology. He doesn't tolerate, late work, retaking missed quizzes or exams. He is good at: punctuality, structure, informing students of upcoming assignments, providiig the exact information you must know to be successful. Reading the text, reviewing lecture notes, and other materials were essential. Ask questions!
You will learn in this class as he provides clear information and provides slides for the practical exam, which is super helpful especially during lab. I had a tough time navigating his canvas as their was an overwhelming amount of files available, not well organized and he would then email us new power points replacing what was online.
Get ready to teach yourself. Everyone in my class basically taught themself everything. He has a very very heavy accent. You will have a quiz every single class. If you miss an assignment, he will not let you do it even with a doctors note!
