shes very nice. shes also very helpful. she interacts with her students and shes willing to help you outside of class.
she is amazing. always kept the class well informed of dedlines and tests were never a surpise. lots of classwork and homework but well worth it. i learned so much!!
She is awesome!! Take time for everybody to understand. Is always available during her office time for extra help. She gives a lot of homework and worksheets that help comprehend the material!!
She is extremely inept. She couldn't even explain the most basic concepts. I had to seek out the assistance of another professor to help me every time I had a question. Keep in mind this is a beginning business math course. At times she would do examples on the board and do them wrong! Do Not Take Her If You Are At All Shaky On Statistics
Probably a great professor for those who naturally/easily understand math. If you need concise and full explanations, time, and practice Tiu should be avoided. Lectures were WAY to quick sometimes giving sample problems and asking for an answer no more than 1 mintue later. Also some class scheduling was disorganized.

Tests on information that was stated once. Test questions are leading and make you read into the question, not out of the book. Would not take a class from her again.
Very patient and helpful. Always willing to help students. She made good use of her website by posting all class assignments and grades on-line. Felice puts a lot of time and effort into the class material. Her quizzes and exams were always challenging in an effort to determine how well you really knew the material. Great teacher.
I liked Tiu. She always taught everything in three different forms, with a visual example, and audio and hands on approach. She is a little pedantic but in a nerdy mathy sort of way. She was always really helpful and really aggressive about making sure you got it. She loves math and it really shows and if you are into math she is a great teacher.
Took an online course with Felice- class was hard but she was always available by phone or in person to help. Fair but tough grader. She's really enthusiastic about the subjects she teachers. Can't comment on lecture style as this class was online.
Tough but fair teacher. Always available for questions and enthusiastic about subjects she teachers. I too found some test questions either leading or ambiguous- tests can be pretty hard. Great at tutoring during office hours- also called me back quickly when I left a message.
She's so good at Math. She will make it to the point that the class understands the lessons. She's so caring and very approachable. I highly recommend this teacher for those who will take MATH 098, or any Math class that she'll handle.
I like Tiu! She is very nice, and helpful. Although she is a fast lecturer, if you attend class, take notes, do the work/reading you'll be able to catch on pretty well. Math has always been my least favorite subject, I have taken several different math teachers at SCCC, yet her class is the only math class that I've done well in so far.
I took Tiu's online math class. The homework was easy because we had the ebook and it showed the answers for the problems she assigned. Some of the quizzes had questions that were not on the hw, and I found it hard. You can do you're hw twice and get 100% the second time, by copying your previous answers. Midterm is on campus.
I took an online stats course. It wasn't too tough. My biggest complaint is she made an already tedious subject more so by having us summarize chapters in the book, which is fine for most subjects but not statistics.
she is very nice and respectful of students and makes a real effort to make sure everyone learns the subject without moving too slow for those who understand it.
Math kicks my rear. Felice is an angel- we both ran into each other @ our bus stop, and she actually lived across the street from me the entire quarter, and we'd ride the same bus most mornings. If I had questions, she would help me out while waiting for our bus.
Felice is an excellent Math professor. With the right attitude (always showing up to class, listening to lectures, doing all the homework, classwork, getting tutored when needed), she can help you master Intermediate Algebra. Before taking her class, I had an E in Math. After taking it, I got an A+. She's also VERY helpful, and wants you to succeed
I took her Stats class on-campus. Worst decision ever. I've always heard good things about her but Stats = NOT HER FORTE. One time I went to her office to ask for help and she said I should "network"! Also, she assigns full homework problems without EVER teaching it first. Then the next day she goes over it? FAIL. Literally. The class averaged 78%.
An amazing teacher. Very helpful and caring. She'll go over any questions as many times as it takes for you to understand it. She drops 2 assignments 2 quizzes and replaces your worst test with your final. Highly recommended!!
Tiu is SUCH AN ANGEL- so nice & caring but she's not what i need in a math teacher. Her voice is frail so its hard to really hear her. Many days are spent going over how to use the graphing calculator. Long math assignments are only worth 10% of the end grade while exams, consisting of 8 questions, are worth 40%.
Online class has many, many ticky-boxes to check off, a lot of busy work. Hard homework but all of it applies to the exams. Way more work for an online class than usual, but she is nice as can be and will bend over backwards to help.
Felice rocks at making precalc comprehensible. She assigns the toughest problems and uses them on the tests, but she helps you understand why precalc works the way it does.
Very smart and helpful. really knows her math and makes it so easy to learn. I am so happy I took her class. I recommend her for math, to anyone!
She is super helpful and she makes math fun and easy to learn! I'm continuing to take her classes.
Honestly she was one my best English teachers. She has such an amazing material. If you want to improve your English, she will help you infinitely. She's also very sociable!
She's a great teacher! Very helpful and will answer/help you out until you fully understand it. The first time I took math 085 I passed with only a 2.0 but once I took it again to pass with a higher grade I passed with a 3.0. Definitely must take her for a math teacher.
Excellent. She knows how to teach. She's a sweetie and really wants people to understand. Best math teacher I've ever had. I'm REALLY bad at math, but she sure enlightened me!
If you don't do great in her classes, any of them, it really is you're fault.
Tiu is a GREAT teacher. She makes herself very available and genuinely tries to help everyone to understand. She moves fast, but it's not hard to keep up if you do your part. The people that fall behind are the ones on their phones or talking throughout class or constantly skipping. HW is somewhat hard, but really helps with the exams.
She bases most of your grade off of tests and the final exam, 45% for tests and 25% for the final exam. Her exams are a lot more difficult than what's assigned in the homework. She uses a lot of powerpoints to teach and doesn't do any review practice for tests and quizzes. Would never take her again
Very good teacher. This is the best teacher iv had for math at SCCC. I always know what is going on during the lecture. She is so nice and never mean about answering questions. good use of technology unlike alot of math teachers iv had in the past. If you go everyday and do the homework you will have no problem getting a good mark.
She's very nice and patient professor. Her quizs and exams are very easy as long as you do homework.
She is the kindest instructor in SCCC. She does her best to help you and will spend all her office hour just helping you. She only cares about your knowledge and not about the schedule. Just do your homework attend lectures and you will be fine.
Tends to rush on before class understands what she's talking about. Pretty vague, really disorganized. Avoid, especially if you require accommodations: she will forget them despite repeated reminders and then blame you.
She is the best teacher I've met ever. Not too much homework, but make you getting much progress. She is very nice.I remembered the wrong date of final test, and I missed final!!However, she gave me another chance to take it. Very appreciate her.
She is super nice! She loves teaching and willing to help. I hate math, but her class is really great. she explains every concept very clear, and easy understand. you can just go to her office(if she has time,)sit in front of her, and she will explain every question that you have. It's not a super easy class, but you really learn a lot. I got 4.0
Great teacher. Really helpful. You'll do well as long as you pay attention, attend class, and turn in homework on time. And if you can't make it to class she posts her lecture online with an audio recording.
Felice is a sweetheart, but her teaching style paired with a mediocre book just do not go well together. She uses and teaches methods not consistent with the book so there can be confusion, and the book is a joke, no seriously it's horrible. She grades pretty tough and does not leave much room for mistakes. nice lady, but I didn't learn much sadly.
EXCELLENT TEACHER.....
This is one of the worst teachers I have had at the college level because she simply can't teach. The way she lectures, I feel like she doesn't even know the material. She also flies through slides, jumps all over the place in examples, and does a very poor job at explaining things unless you ask specific questions.
This review is for her UW's STAT 311 class. She puts a lot of text on her lecture slides and she flies through them insanely fast, so don't bother taking notes during lecture. To succeed, read the textbook and you'll be fine. Her teaching style is meh, but she's a really friendly and nice person.
Felice is my favourite math instructor. She's clear and easy to follow, and doesn't spend unnecessary time covering things that are unimportant. She has a good feel for when the class has gotten the material, and moves on. She's also the absolute sweetest! You will have a lot of homework in her class, but it's definitely a good thing.
Felice is an extremely nice person, but her class isn't very nice. She flies through materials during lecture so you probably don't even have time to take notes during lecture. The examples she provided during lecture DO NOT relate to any homework problems or test problems. I learnt by reading examples in the textbook. Not taking her again!
I kind of like her teaching, she always cares about students if they have any questions. Also, she always solve the homework questions before we hand it in. There are about 3 exams and one final for one quarter. And every Friday, we have a quiz.
Felice is very sweet, but I had a lot of difficulty in her class. She moves very quickly and taught the class as if we already knew the material. She does not break down concepts very well and her tests are extremely long and difficult. Tests are much harder than the homework and problems she goes over during lecture. I would avoid.
Wont give you enough time to finish tests, which is made even worse by her hard ass tests. Her hand writing is disruptive, but all in all u get used to it a little bit. Personally shes a nice person, she'll slow down and explain things if u need it. If math isnt ur strongest subject u might feel like she flies tgrough things topics.
She is a kind person but not a good teacher. Her teaching speed is lightning fast and she won't able to teach much in a 50 minutes session. I tried so hard but still struggled. Won't recommend for any one. BAIL NOW!!!
Professor Tiu's lectures move very quickly but she does re-explain confusing things. Her tests are long and hard but nothing out of what she covers in class, they just induce a bit more of thinking under pressure. She replies to the emails and questions quickly. She is always there to help!
She is very helpful and fun. Pretty easy grader, if you pay attention in class.
She is a diligent and enthusiastic professor and grader. I have to acknowledge that I had great experiences in her class. She is so helpful and nice to students. She may go through lectures relatively rapidly but if you pay attention and be patient while doing math then you should be fine in this class.
Too much homework and she never graded the homework make the homework useless.
Math 152 contains many resources and is hard to understand. But professor goes through the lecture very quickly. We can't achieve deep comprehension.
Her test is not extremely difficult, but it can be challenging if you are aiming 4.0.
Prof Tiu's class can be pretty fast at times, so it's good to ask questions. She is very nice and will take the time to explain things. Does give a decent amount of homework. Test and quizzes should be fairly easy if you keep up with homework and go to class. Lectures are useful.
The lectures move very fast, but this a good thing. Quarters are 11 weeks and class is 50 minutes, I've had so many teachers not get to all the course material. The lectures are online (So helpful) and she is *very* accommodating with office hours
I am not sure what the motive of her teaching is as it seems like she tries her hardest to fail students. Her teaching style is difficult to comprehend and she speaks/writes too fast to follow along. Be aware that although you may think you know what to study, she will definitely test you on something you went over one time and make it worth 15%.
Prof Tiu is great! She lectures fast, but is thourough & lectures are recorded and online, the homework and quizzes are really helpful to prepare for exams. She does test on class material so keep in mind when you study and work similar problems. Her class overall, and exams are not too difficult, and she does not grade ridiculously strictly.
She is a great math teacher. She is accessible outside of class. Go to her office hours, it helped me to succeed in the class. She is not the most friendly person on earth but still, go to her office hours to discuss math problems with her when needed.
give the test too heavy
is the only prof on campus that uses webassign (you have to pay to access the homework). worksheets on sections due before she has even covered them yet. does not spend enough time on the material and expects students to understand immediately. very fast lectures and doesn't cover topics well and has tests/quizzes right after introducing sections.
She is a kind person but not a (good teacher). Her teaching speed is lightning fast and she won't able to teach much in a 50 minutes session. I tried so hard but still struggled. Won't recommend for any one.
Tests and quizzes are pretty easy. Very gracious grader, gives partials credit on test/quizzes for doing some kind of work. I've taken her for 3 quarters bc of her grading. If you struggle with teaching yourself concepts, don't taker her. She moves very fast, and does not give the best explanations. Does not provide key for Reading assignments.
Hardest math class I ever have, if you got one question wrong, you only got 88% on the quiz. She need you to show everything on the paper, even the question that you can just get it in your mind, like 1+12, you still need to write it down, otherwise she will take away your points. She would not give you anything for test review. Not a good teacher
This class is fine if you participate and do your work correctly. Make sure you turn in your work on time because late work is not accepted.
Her lectures go by really fast and you often miss lots of things. I think I learned more from the videos she gave us than her lectures. But anyway, if you go the extra mile to understand the material and you ask lots of questions this class won't be too difficult. The homework is not overwhelming either compared to other classes.
I think this has to be the worst class ever MsTiu is so disrespectful to her students when asking her a question she marks points off of the test if you don't do it in order. She also said some homework was optional and then graded them as if it was mandatory. Definitely will not be taking her EVER again
I took calculus in high school and got an A, and I still struggled in this class. She is terrible at explaining things. She gives examples that are COMPLETELY different than the ones on homework and on tests, which makes your notes completely unhelpful. She rushes over everything and treats you like you should know calculus already. Worst class.
I appreciated the clarity of the expectations in this class. I think once you get used to the rhythm of this class where you get used to the time management needed to get the homework and quizzes done on time and correctly. Even though it took a lot of hard work, the professor's office hours were super helpful and I would definitely recommend.
Though I took a pre-calc class in high school, I still decided to take this class to prepare my mind for 151. I liked the class and the accessibility of office hours. I felt there was a lot of homework and quizzes that were different from the lectures, which kind of made it harder to understand everything. Regardless, the grading was fair.
Professor Felice is a very sweet professor, she tries her hardest and that's admirable. There are parts that get difficult but if you ask her to explain or slow down she will try to. The homework is on the easier side, but there a lot of quizzes. As long as you get the homework you should be fine though.
Felice was great. I am taking her MATH151 class now, after having her for 142. She is always very willing to go over anything again - you just have to ask for it. Her descriptions are clear. Her tests aren't bad - she covers the material in class and the homework can be used as a study aid for the tests. I think she's a great teacher.
I have taken classes with Felice before and I decided to take her again for calc. However, I thought the weekly quizzes were barely, if at all, like the homework and the problems done in class. BE PREPARED TO DO MOST OF THE TEXTBOOK PROBLEMS TO STUDY FOR QUIZZES! She is also picky with how you show your work. The key to the class is to study hard!!
Ms. Tiu is an amazing professor! She is available outside of class and if you are willing to work hard (as in any calc class) you will do well. Calc 151 was well organized and although there is a lot of HW, she will always help you if you have questions. I wish I she was available for calc II & III as well!
Be sure to expect lots of tests. If you are motivated and always do your homework then you should be able to pass this class with at least an A-
DONT TAKE HER CLASS IF YOU WANT GOOD GRADE. Weekly test every Friday that u can only take in between 1pm-4:30pm. If u suddenly get sick? You CANNOT take the test after this period. For every test, youll have to submit your notes for the test, thats 50% of your scores, but her grading is unclear. She takes ur points off when she thinks its unclear
Felice is quick to respond whenever you email her, and is always willing to help. There are weekly quizzes on Fridays, 1-2 sections covered per week, discussion boards, and homework on both problems and the readings in the textbook. You will need to put in a lot of work to get a good grade but the lectures she posts help a lot.
Read the reviews below. Quizzes must be taken at a specific time each Friday and you can't make them up. You must take them beforehand. Midterm and Final are proctored in a Zoom call. IMO her handwriting can be hard to read and the textbook may be too. Grading is unclear, but you just need to show your work to guarantee ~20 points on every test.
She goes kind of fast through the material but will take the time to explain things until you understand if you ask. Tests each Friday plus a midterm and a final, and half the grade is just turning in your work online. 99% or higher for a 4.0, but some assignments are dropped. The class was hard, but I learned a lot and I really like Prof. Tiu.
Don't take a class w prof. tiu, confusing, careless, bad lectures, unclear, really doesnt have any compassion, didnt learn anyones names, honestly seemed like she didnt care at all.Took hybrid class, the two times we met were just for "review" you basically have to teach yourself. Learned from youtube. Not worth the money or time!
she is pretty cool but I learned everything from youtube. I had her online and online she gave 2 WAMAP homework 1 discussion and 1 Quiz on WAMAP weekly. midterm is worth 15 percent and so is the final. Not hard if you properly manage time. Ask for help when you need it!!
She was really nice and genuinely care about her students success. She gives out online hw, wamap, and paper hw, textbook. In my opinion the hw wasn't lot, it's a good amount for the class. If you have questions or email prof Tiu, she responds back pretty quick. Quizzes are every week, but as long as you do the hw and study a bit you'll pass.
She's kind of hands off but it makes sense for an online class. Class is a bit homework heavy, but if you follow her schedule it's not too difficult to get it all done. She includes plenty of practice opportunities. Expectations are super clear.
Prof. Tiu is caring for her students. Wamap homework wasn't too hard to do and the best part is it doesn't take away your credits every time you did it wrong, classes are easy to understand as well
bro. i have nt even finishd her class, manifesting that A- final grade though. i can already say that she is a horrible teacher. so much work and you barely have time to get through one thing before its time to move onto the next chapter. pray for me pls. i want to drop out but i cant. do ur future self a favor and dont take her.
Just started and I'm already struggling. its hard to get the amount of work done alongside other classes. weekly quizzes are to be taken during a specific window of that day, if you are unable, you have to take it early- this doesnt make sense to me for an asynchronous class. i honestly dont think im passing lol
If prioritize mental health.. DO NOT TAKE HER. 6-7 assignments at a time including weekly quizzes which require work shown within 10 minutes of submission. Iv never cried this much over a class, until her. Her lectures provided make 0 sense and the video links on wamap solve completely different equations. On my soul I would never take her again.
syllabus says youhave unlimited tries on basicproblem but actually there are only 99 attempts. you don't get the answer right, your grades is going to be deducted.weekly quiz are so stressful and required hand-written answers.but most importantly if you mess up the final which weight like 35% of the grade its impossible to get a grade higher than B
Lots of homework, no classes so you have to teach yourself. She's okay. Probably your best option if you want to take online asynchronous calc. SUPER strict about quiz uploads, so double-check when you're submitting pictures of your handwritten work for quizzes.
She's very good professor
Her online class is advertised as asynchronous, but she requires quizzes to be taken during specific windows, aka NOT asynchronous. When asked to put this information in the description of the course to help students register, her response was that I should have emailed and asked for her syllabus prior to registration, or I can leave.
DO NOT TAKE! Quizzes are on WAMAP, which is very sensitive, so if you make simple algebraic mistakes(like miss a neg. sign) you will get the problem wrong and she does not give partial credit. Professor seems nice but she does not post lectures and its difficult to do via zoom. Everything is on WAMAP, including video lectures not taught by her.
She seems nice, but everything is on WAMAP, so consider that your teacher. Does not give partial credit at all, so beware of your algebra I wouldnt take again, I would get more value from a professor teaching, but there were no other classes open so I had to take what I could get. I see now why she was the only option left
There's a lot of weekly work: mathematica, quizzes, discussion boards, and hw problem sets. Be prepared to teach yourself through youtube videos and the optional wamap readings, but she's quick to answer any questions. There are late passes for wamap assignments, and your lowest grade is dropped. Follow her recommendations and you'll be fine.
