Ms. Petrenco is extraordinarily vague and unhelpful. She gives homework and quizzes over topics that we've never covered in class and can be rude and dismissive when you ask questions. I wouldn't recommend her to my worst enemy.
she the worst teacher I ever had, do not take her class. If you want teach your self at home better then take her class. very bad
One of the worst teachers I've had. She hardly teaches you anything and when she does she is very confusing and mumbles. Half of the stuff on the homework and tests are not taught in class. She is indecisive and rude. If you want to learn and do well, do not have her as your teacher.
My first math teacher in college. She was not clear with the material she was teaching so you have to try and learn most of the problems online. A lot of homework. Does not teach much of the stuff she quizzes or tests on. Very difficult class. I recommend another teachery
So rude and unhelpful
Well at first you may not get anything she is teaching (well sometimes). But as long as you show effort in doing good at the class she will help you and maybe cut you some slack and also has her cool moments.Probably not the best class u anticipate when u wake up though but overall she is "Alright" (Do the online homework they will help u a lot!)
She was a great teacher. Very helpful in explaining material. overall nice teacher.
Excellent class. She made math fun and exciting.
not helpful at all learned everything from hw
Great teacher! Willing to help you out if your in a tight pinch and an attentive student.
She is ok. She had her moments where she would get attitudes with you, but overall she's fine. If you miss class a lot, you have to work extra hard to play catch up. So don't miss class and you'll do fine!!
I had Petrenco as my instructor for spring 2014, she was/is good at teaching the course, as long as you ask for help or see her during her office hours about what you don't understand you should be fine with her. I worked 40+ hours a week took other classes on top of this. I earned my B because I didn't put in any time to really study the material.
She was okay but I wouldn't recommend when better options are available. She barks at you when you ask questions and is very unhelpful when you are trying to understand a concept in which you're unfamiliar. She could use some work but is an okay teacher.
Math is not my better subjects in College. Be sure to not miss class, take thorough notes, and do the HW via Math Lab and you will be good to go. Professor Petrenco is willing to help if you meet her 1/2 way and show her that you are willing and committed to learn Math. Overall great class and Professor.
Worse teacher I've ever had. Changed due dates, extended test times for select students, and was horrible at explaining concepts. Homework took at least 2 hours a night, five days a week. Woefully unprepared for teaching a college class. If you have her, drop.
She really explained what she was doing. You never just felt out it. I wouldn't mind having her as my professor again
Always willing to give extra help if needed
This instructor will help you when you ask for it, didn't expect to get a B coz I'm took the class during summer. I'm glad I made the right decision, and picked the right instructor.
She was very good at explaining the learning material. Any questions were given an example. She was very polite And gave a reasonable time to give in homework. I would recommend her to a fellow student.
Math is not my favorite subject, I have always to some degree struggled with it and need someone who is willing to understand my level of knowledge. I can't help that some of it is very confusing, and I felt a little discouraged while in this course. But if you love math and can understand technical terms without any issue, you would love her.
She is not very clear with her lessons, often moved lessons and test dates so we often skimmed through lessons without fully understanding the material. Does not teach you what she tests you on. Would not recommend to anyone, not even if it's the last class available.
She was always available when I needed guidance, which was quite a bit. Keep up the excellent work. Really cares about her students. It was a privelage for me to be her student.
She is one of my favorite teacher. I like her class a lot because she teaches really well. If you really want to know the math for the future, i recommend all of you to take this class with her. This class will help you a lot in the future math courses. :) 3
It was a good class. I leaned a lot in a short amount of time. Much better then my high school teachers who taught math. This one at least took the time to go over problems and help you when needed.
Math isn't my subject, but this class was a lot of work! I logged about 100 hours on the computer homework & looked for outside help daily to understand the concepts. She is a lovely person who likes to teach, however learning from her was not always easy. She was eager to help if you ask, but not always helpful. If you are good in math take her.
Professor Petrenco is one of the best Math teacher I have ever had. She is always helpful and and answer every mathematical questions relating the topic that she is teaching. I had prof. Petrenco in math 120 and 150; She has done such a wonderful job for her class. I'll always recommend Mrs. Petrenco to any student. Just do your homework!!!!!!!!
I enjoyed the class. She gives technical terms when she is giving lectures, some students may not like it but I enjoyed it. Knowing what the terms mean will only help you as you progress through math. She is always willing to help, but, she can't help if she doesn't know you need help. You can log a lot of hours doing assignments, will only help
Professor Petranco is an outstanding instructor. She helps you out if you show interest in her instruction. She was very professional and insightful of her students. Although, I was an older student and the numerous immature attitudes from some of the other students was annoying, she controlled the class extremely well.
All around she was a good professor. My class was pretty difficult due to such a diverse age range and maturity levels. She had to stop several times during lecture to shut students up. Also it was a pilot class for MHconnect so all homework and some quizzes were on the computer. Math should be done on paper not a computer. Only upside is no book.
Great Professor.. Fun and energetic.
Honestly, Math isn't my subject. I took MA092 over the summer and I don't think I could have done it without this teacher. She explains everything in detail, you just have to listen. She goes over everything, if students talk in class she will call them out. This was a great class!! I would go with Mrs. Petrenco again!
I'm not good at math but I understood everything in this class! She was very clear and helpful with anything and everything. I would take her for another math class. She's very nice. I'd recommend. Didn't have to buy an expensive calculator or books on top of that so yay!!
Nice lady... I would take her again if I had to
Tests are always different from the study guides. She used mymathlab. Teacher gets frustrated when you ask questions and doesn't explain things well. I would not recommend taking her class, one of the worst experiences with math teachers that I have had
Her grading is really weird, she is not very specific when she explains things and she won't really answer your questions in class, she doesn't teach very well.
Professor scrutinizes students for asking questions, does not provide clarity or options for how to solve problems. Tests on material that has not been covered. Expects students to print note sheets daily (2-3 pgs per day) and it can get pricey. Encourages participation and then belittles students for incorrect answers. Great person, bad professor.
There were VERY few times where I asked for help, and in those few times, she wouldn't clearly explain the topic but it was enough for me to understand it well.
This class is not hard if you pay attention, she talks pretty fast so you need to keep up with her. Ask questions when you need help she will help, if you study the notes you will do good in the quizess and exams. Oh and do your homework!!! They are helpful for the tests as well.
Going in I was nervous as it was a fast paced class for summer but I Ended up with an A thanks to Ms Petrenco. She makes you understand the material and is always open to any questions students have. Also encourages students by doing group work and making the class fun. She's a great professor would take her again.
She is a good teacher. Always tries to help her student. Lots of homework which takes time. if you pay attention and attend class everyday you should be fine. i took her Math 121 summer class and passed with C.
Awesome sauce! She rocks...
Ms. Petrenco was an amazing teacher. This was my first college math class and I was impressed with how much she cared about us as students. She tell's you the "why" behind everything, show's you multiple ways to do a problem, and is extremely patient. I would have her as a teacher again in the future.
Don't do it.
I wish I could take my next math class with Petrenco. Her lectures are clear and she is willing to answer any questions. She makes herself available to students needing help. Her class uses my math lab which gives you additional resources for the class. I really struggle with math and she does all she can to help her students understand.
Since I have a limit on characters, I'll keep it simple. Petrenco's a very kind and caring professor. You need to put in effort in her class in order to pass, but in a college course, you should expect nothing less. She is difficult to understand at first, but be patient and ask questions once class is dismissed. 5 extra minutes can get you an A.
She's very professional and she cares for all her students
It has been many years since I have been to school. I tested low and landed in this class which is supposed to be an introduction to Algebra. BEING IN THIS CLASS AND PAYING FOR IT WAS THE WORST DECISION IN MY LIFE. She doesn't explain the lessons well and every time I ask a question she answers back with questions like, "I don't know you tell me"
She is very professional and wants the best for her students. I do believe however, she has issues with organization since it was difficult to keep track of our tasks. She also had a knack for putting up print outs on canvas the the day we need them printed out.
My name is Idie, I had Mrs Petrenco for Mat-108, and since the first day, she made me feel welcome, to me that is very important because math is a subject in which i am not the best at! Her explanations are clear and if you need another method she has the knowledged to do so. I will recommend Her!
I took this class online and Professor Petrenco always would be sure to check anything over because sometimes the online math program can be picky about your answer. She was always fair and polite. I would definitely take her again.
Prof Petrenco went out of her way to assist me when I was having issues or difficulty, if it werent for her patience and understanding I would not have passed.
Tough class. She is avail and willing to help
Strict but fair. Shes one of those teachers who grades very specifically and you might get irritated a time or two.. but then she explains what you did wrong and you learn. Great teacher, very helpful, but occassionally can come across as condescending if you ask for multiple clarifications during lesson. I dont think it's intentional but heads up!
Good teacher. Make sure to pay attention in class and keep up on your assignments and you should be alright.
This was a great math class with a great and understanding teacher.
Will make you do absolutely everything that mathlab has to offer, for the final exam no exemptions for good grades, opens quizzes for more credit too late for you to actually do them at the end of the semester. 2 sections due every week, wont help you over email for online students and tells you to come in for her study hours instead, wont round up
Never could see the instructor but course was rather simple
Usual math online course. Must buy the access code, just do it through MyMathLab. Always posts the Exams last minute so it can be stressful. Changes due dates for assignments last minute with hardly any announcement. Aside from that, eeeeeasy
She is very picky and gives you a hard time over the littlest things. I had trouble trying to understand her, but once you accept that everything has to be her way, and comply with all her demands, you should at least pass. If you can take this course with any other professor, I would strongly suggest it for the sake of your emotional well being.
I took this class during the summer so it was tough 8 weeks of class compared to the regular 16 weeks! She did her best to make the class easier. My advice do hw on mymathlab and the test will be much easier for you. I definitely wouldn't take any math class during the summer again too stressful for me. I'm glad I passed the class!
This professor is VERY condescending and will go out of her way to ignore you if you ask "too many" questions. To her you have one question a class. Singles students out and makes everyone feel less than her. She also teaches very fast and doesn't slow down for questions. She huffs and rolls her eyes often. Good luck if you're taking her class.
The mindtap takes up a really big chunk of time, BUT READ THE SYLLABUS! I made the mistake of not reading it fully and would spend HOURS on the homework for it and found out a week before the final that the games and lesson videos weren't mandatory. If I would have known that, I would have most likely passed this class. She's a really nice teacher!
Don't take her, she is disrespectful and doesn't teach very well.
so this semester i took miss Professor Petrenco's class and it was the most confusing experience of my life she does not Grade your papers she uses a web site called Cengage-MindTap to do every thing for her. If you ask her for help she will she will just ignore your make you feel like an idiot for following her instructions i do recommend her
Ill take more math classes with her
She is difficult to follow in class. She knows how to solve the problems, but doesn't engage with the class enough. I would do guided notes, homework and quizzes every day yet I wouldn't be able to perform well on the tests. she makes you take your exams outside of class.
I took the Hybrid class. Its tough for non-math lovers. She was always nice and helpful to me, but I did see her single people out and be rude to them as well. just be respectful and she will be respectful back. DO THE HOMEWORK! and STUDY!! the test are a HUGE percent of your grade. they are done in the testing center.
A very good professor. She teaches well. Though lots of homework and quizzes but very doable when you put your mind to it. The class is very easy to pass. I will still choose her over again.
Great communication, fair grading scale and very transparent with expectations!
I dont recommend her to anyone shes very disrespectful and has an attitude and overall her teaching is horrible.
Great teacher, experience in the math subject with great lectures and very helpful in and out of the class room.
SHe is very condescending and rude and she basically goes to class to solve problems on the board, hard to pass with an A relying on this prof, especially with her teaching skills and grading system. I got a good grade in her class only by teaching myself.
She is so helpful and caring
Im shocked this professor has good ratings, I literally cant name one good thing about her class she makes everything difficult its like she wants to make it hard for students to pass. I highly dont recommend her.
Why in the world would someone write a bad review for this teacher. She is so caring. For example, before class she would go over any homework question a kid had and take her time. Grading is very clear. I guess people were annoyed on the amount of homework and quizzes on MathWay, but they truly helped me learn and absorb the material. LOVED HER!!!
THIS PROFESSOR IS THE BEST. Before taking her class, I read the reviews and some were negitive. I can't begin to fanthom why on earh anyone would rate her negitively. There is lots of homework & Quizzes on MyMathLab, however this is a math class. TRUST ME THE HOMEWORK HELPED ME PASS THIS CLASS. Several questions on the quizzes were on the exams.
This was my first class going back to school since high school. Easy to get ahold of and response promptly. There was a lot of homework but there was enough time to get it all done but study daily was a must to get everything done. Very nice and caring and always willing to help in whatever way she could. Clear directions.
This teacher was not good at all, lots of homework due, tests right after break and made a test due at 10pm and refused to move it later after several students said they worked late (including me). This was just not for me, if you like a teacher that gives a lot of work and a lot of talking it might be for you but I would not take this class again.
it was almost as this teacher just did not want too help. I would not recommend because once you say something to her she starts affecting your grading out of pettiness.
Mrs Petrenco was hard to understand, her teaching style did not align with my learning style and when I went to her with a concern she told me that I could always retake the class if I failed which was very demotivating.
everything in the course was easy to navigate it was nice that she had lectures from different people. I didn't need to use Kahn university or you tube to understand to understand what was taught (which for me is very rare)
Too much hw
Hybrid Class -Has all material open + -5 test one unit -1 Interactive assigment 1 Homework per unit as of 1.1(IA,HW) 1.2 (IA,HW) 1.3 (IA,HW) 1.4 (IA,HW)
Felicia Petrenco is not a productive professor
Reinstated slavery.
absolutely disrespectful and completely unsympathetic. took this class and ended up getting kicked out because of her strict rules about attendance even though i am disabled and she was aware of that. constantly singled me out in class from the others for no reason. do not take this class if you want a non judgmental environment
wholly incompetent instructor. mumbles through entire lesson plans, and is rude to people who ask questions. This paired alongside inflexible office hours and an absurd amount of take home work every week to compensate for subpar teaching,i can conclusively say ive had high-school teachers who taught the same thing in a more sophisticated way. 0/100
This teacher was absolutely rude. I had to drop this class and am so disappointed. I should have read her reviews before selecting her class. I have never had such an unkind person as a professor. Do not pick her as a teacher.
I'm sure you can see by the other reviews that this teacher is not a good one. Mat 142 online, is not a hard class. But this professor will make it so. Couple that with her not communicating with students, and I will be surprised if you're not dropped by week 2 (like a lot of my classmates were). Oh, no warning of it too. Just pick someone else.
Dropped without any warning, upon contacting this teacher she wasn't helpful at all, nor considerate. Wrong facts about lack of engagement in the class and an overall bad experience. I'm sure she's not a bad person, but she is a bad teacher. Make yourself a favor and do not take her class.
Maybe she's a good professor during a regular semester but DO NOT take her online during a summer semester. Exams were 65% of the grade and if you tank the first one good luck trying to raise your grade by the end. There's no hope for that. Drope date was 1 week after class started and BEFORE the first exam was taken, how does that make sense?
She's not patient when it come to not understanding a problem.
Easy math class as long as you do the homework and practice quizzes/tests. It's all self-paced as long as you complete assignments on time. You can even finish some assignments a little early. Don't fall behind, and there will be no reason not to do well.
