Nice guy,wants students to succeed. Read, be prepared for lecture (extra credit for answering questions!). Read the book, you will get a good grade, but may be a few test questions from the lecture. Use the textbook website(practice tests) as a study tool. A little disorganized his 1st semester (Fall'05), but he will get better with experience.

i really like this professor his class was interesting i feel like if i would i have applied myself i would have done better in the class, he supplied the material that was needed for the class and he made it fun. i can say if i and others would have came to class better prepared we would have all did better.

This teacher drove me INSANE!!He was extremely unorganized and his lectures were all over the place, he scribbled all over the board and talked too much about his personal life. But he was a nice guy and was always willing to help students who needed it. Just read you assignments and you should do fine.

You can tell he is new, but he keep's trying to get better. He is great at working with you as a student. If you do not give up he does not give up on you. I must say when i was going to take political science i was imagining a teacher dully lecturing with half of the class sleeping. Dr. J isnt like that. If you actually pay attention in class you wont have to study too much. Makes the class funny and gives and an outline for the test which is extremely helpful. Recommended

Dr J is great! He's very respectful to students and doesn't put you on blast when you ask an obvious question like some other professors do. READ the text because all test/quiz are from there. Vast majority of Political Science professor are narrow minded, Dr. J has open minded political view, and he loves ancient chinese philosopher. I highly recommend anyone for his class.

Really cares about his students. He would take time out to help me when I needed it. Also felt very comfortable in his class, any debates that students would have he made sure that we could see both sides of the debate. He is very fair as in if you screw up he'll mark you down for it, but will reward you if you do well. His lectures can be a bit long, but the test all come from the notes/lectures including the final. He is always well prepared, and well organized. At the end of the semester, he gives a little gift to all of his students.

During his lectures he rambles and it's hard to stay focused at times. He posts his lectures so that's helpful and he's also accessible. Even online he has you do group work so it's kinda hard to get people to do their part. The assignments he gives are easy yet kinda vague with what he wants but just make friends and skim the book, you'll be good.

I had this professor the most recent fall semester, and I would say he loved group projects a lot but he wasn't the best with keeping organized and wasn't the best with technology. Also, some of his work was confusing and so my group and I had to really rely on each other. He also wasn't great with late work, so you have to remind him constantly.

Dr. Jollevet is really a kind soul. Hes pretty lenient and always make sure that his students is keeping up with him. Offers extra credits and makes sure that everyone pass his class. I wasnt into history or any political studies, but his passion and genuine intention to teach made me love his class. Show up, participate, read and youll pass.

Of course, this class is about politics, but the professor doesn't brainwash you like many others try to do. He is a great teacher and I will absolutely miss his lectures on zoom! He shares his political views but he doesn't push them onto you, he speaks from the heart but he also uses logic. By far the coolest and most helpful professor I've had!

He's one of the best professors I've had he actually cares about his students and is passionate about what he teaches. He can tend to ramble but it eats up class time so it's it's not exactly bad.

One thing to note: TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EXTRA CREDIT. Prof. Jollevet was generous to give multiple opportunities, and was visibly upset when apparently not very many students took advantage. It definitely helped boost my grade, and I ended the class with over 100%. Be wary of group projects and an essay midterm as well! Communication is key!!

When I first took Professor Js class, I was hesitant at first but over time I adjusted & gotten the hang of it. Professor J is a great choice to take for Poli 1. Do the work, take advantage of participating & extra credit & I can guarantee you will pass his class.

Dr. J was a very laid-back professor. It's always fun being in his class. He was very considerate and and understanding. Despite some circumstances with textbooks he was able to adapt and change our assignment schedule to fit our learning. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed being in his class.

Dr. J is very understanding and sympathetic, so he will give leeway if one has an issue in not being able to get an assignment turned in. He does not give a lot of homework, and does not grade tough. He is enthusiastic and funny with lectures and helps students feel comfortable to participate. Overall, he is a very good teacher!

Doctor J was super empathetic and comprehension oriented, if he could tell you understood the topic your grade would reflect it. Participation in IRL discussions is a must. He tried hard to make his lessons less lecture oriented and added group projects/movies into our class. The way he grades is a bit scattered, if organization is important 2 u.

Jollevet mainly assigned group projects throughout my time in the class. His lectures were unclear at times, but you could feel his passion for teaching, which kept me engaged. He was super responsive when it came to questions, and he felt like a wise grandpa who wanted to pass down his knowledge to you. As long as you put effort in, you will pass.

Great professor. Very fun class. You can see the passion in his teaching. If you asked for help he was more than happy to make sure you understood the material. Taken during summer. Had about 3-4 group projects all in which were power points that he would have us create on the material that we were learning which was really fun. Highly recommend.

Dr. Jollevet was one of the best professors I've ever had considering its my first year. I took his joint class so this was more focused on the effects on African Americans. He relies on 2 books that you can get as PDF's. Be ready for some group work but he's not a hard grader. He gives you everything you need to pass.
