A very nice teacher. Wanted to make sure you passed class considering attendance and homework was the only requirement to do this.

This teacher is great! Once you learn her accent she makes things extremely easy to understand. She’s open and nice to serious students, but don’t talk during her class. Also, she NEVER gives multiple choice tests and always gives partial credit it you make a slight misstate.
ms johnson is the best math teacher ive ever had, she makes the material very easy to understand and will so what ever she can do for you to succeed. i dont know what the guy means bycalling her a math nazi, obviously that person is in idiot, if you show up do the homework and shup up in class u will pass.
She makes the class interesting. She loves to talk and is extremely helpful. Although, the class is hard to understand she will always take time out to help and explain. Totally recommend!
She is the best math teacher i have ever had! I am not not really a math person but she made it clear and straight forward. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone. She is a great person who really cares about her students.
At first you gotta get over the slight accent, but she's very helpful and wants you to understand. I'd take her again...
Great teacher, she wants you to understand.
lets you use a page of notes on tests..study guide for tests identical to tests only different numbers..made math interesting..four tests and final and drops one test..extra credit chance on every test
Good teacher and all, but I just couldnt get around her accent. Kind enough to give open-note tests and drop your lowest test grade (except the final). Overall, a good teacher who genuinely wants to teach you. Just make sure you study if this is a new course for you. Also, be aware that she goes off on tangents if provoked.
She is a great professor. If you see her teaching, take her.
She is the best math teacher ever i didn't even havve the money for the book and still got an A. my 1st in math TAKE HER SHES THE BEST!! Makes stats fun
I relly liked Mrs Johnson's class.I too so many classes with her...From Trig all the way to Cal 1B, and im goin to take Math 2,3 again! she is very helpful and friendly..very nice about th grading, her study guide was VERY helpful...if you got a 88 or 87, borderline case, n u attend most of class, she will help you! overall, GREAT teacher!
This teacher is absolutely amazing! She is beyond helpful. She goes out of her way to make sure people understand the material. I highly recommend her as a professor for any student unclear in math.
overall I would have to say is this teacher is just ok. She is very difficult to understand because of her broken english that numbers get confused. She isn't very helpful when you have questions because usually she will say "ASK ME AFTER CLASS"Then you ask her and she says "ASK ONE OF YOUR CLASS MATES". Also I think her grading is too harsh..
Best Math teacher ever. Explains everything crystal clear. Has a strong accent but she makes up for it with simplified, organized lectures. Tests come from review problems; and review problems come from lecture and homework. Attending class is a must (or you'll miss those review problems). Overall...TAKE HER...easy class...easy A.
Those of you that **** about her accent...grow up. Just wait until you get to university and the profs blame YOU for not understanding them. Johnson is an outstanding professor that knows her material and genuinely cares about the students & wants the, to succeed. 5/5 stars.
Has the ability to take a really hard concept and teach it so easily. Her class is enjoyable and her good lectures. Need more instructors like Ms. Johnson, too bad there is only one.
took it online...shes really helpful on the message boards and is leniant w/ ur grades
She is one of the best teachers at RCC Moreno Valley I've had I will only take her classes or Namekata... The Top Teachers of RCCMV
Math 1C class seemed long and tedious. In order to do well on Math 1C class, people need to know a lot of Math 1B stuffs like how to do integrals and derivatives. There are 3 tests and 1 final which I thought they were all hard and I had to study extra hard. It's my first time not getting an A in math class. Good Luck.
She was seriously tough. I know she's nice and all that, but my memories of class time consist of her rambling on about one or more of her former students and fawning over whoever was sitting in the front row. I am bad at Math, but even so, her teaching style was weird
Ms. Johnson is the best, ever. I took her for everything since precal. If you don't like her, it's probably because you didn't pay attention or go to class. It's very important to study hard, attend class, and do all homework and review problems.
She is an amazing teacher. I have a really hard time with math and because of her I was able to understand the material and I passed. she really knows what she is doing she is the best math teacher I have ever had!
she is a great teacher she honestly understands you!! she will help and explain the material very well step by step!! and shes really nice and funny!
When I attended her class for the very first time, the one thing I had trouble with was her accent. It's really crucial to understand what she is saying or else you won't get the material. Other then that, she's a nice teacher. The questions you copy from the board is gold, but my advice is to test yourself with similar questions from the board.
Had her for Math 52 hybrid class. She wouldn't move on until everyone got it. She isn't a fan of hybrid classes-we only had 1hr class and the assignments online. Pressed for time, but very helpful. I got a C in the class due to missing a couple assignments, but if that hadn't happened, I would've gotten a B, and Math isn't my strong subject
this is the best teacher i ever had, i had her for mat36(trig) mat10(pre-cal) and mat12(stats) she makes everything easy to understand, will stop to explains things if needed and tell you what is exactally on your test so you are not studying extra stuff that wont even be on the test, which some teachers make you do.
I took this professor about two years ago, when i read reviews i thought, her last name is Johnson how bad can her accent be? if you suck at math RUN THE OTHER WAY from this professor her accent is INCREDIBLY hard to understand, although she is a nice lady please take another instructor or see for your self.
People complain about her accent, but you get used to it. Shouldnt discourage any of u to take her class, bc shes a really good math teacher. Gives daily notes on the bored & she explains, & its guaranteed that what she gives u as notes will be on the exam. As a hater of math, i appreciate Mrs.Johnson for making it easier to understand.
I went in hearing that 1B is really tough, but with Johnson it's super easy. Her tests had a good range of easy-challenging, and she gives extra credit. Even though she went off on tangents about Google we were ahead of the other 1B classes. Great teacher, taking her for diff eq.
A bit of an accent but she's very understandable. She provides study guides and she's very nice. I took her hybrid class & it the class seemed easy to me. Good professor
This is a nice professor BUT very hard to understand. What ever you do...DO NOT TAKE THE on-line HYBRAID class. It's VERY hard and if you can't understand the teacher you will fail this class like I did. i was there every day and did all my homework too. RUN!!!
GREAT TEACHER her accent is not that bad. I took the hybrid class and got a B. She gives you review questions for the exams which are only 15 questions. She makes math easy by teaching easier ways to solve. I really enjoyed her class she is funny too. I recommend the hybrid class, if you do all the hw, quizzes and participate you will pass
Great teacher. Teaches with clarity, and gives excellent advice to help with understanding the curriculum whenever possible. She tells you exactly what will be on exams so you don't waste time studying unnecessary information.Definitely worth taking her. She will prepare you and give you the confidence to do well in higher math classes.
Seriously she is amazing. If you can take her class DO IT. I have always sucked at math yet in 6 weeks she completely changed the way I see and do math.
Great teacher!
Professor Johnson might be my all time favorite teacher. She has made me love math. She makes math simple to understand. I was nervous about her accent but it never interfered with my learning. She is amazing!
Mrs. Johnson is awesome! She is not that hard to understand even though she does have a accent. She has unique ways of helping you understand this subject and she loves telling stories. She gives practice problems similar to the ones on the test. Math is not my deal and I got a B. I wish she was teaching MAT-11.
She's a sweet professor, & helpful too. She tries her best to help her students succeed. I took a hybrid class. I love the way she teaches, she makes it simple & easy to understand. Although she's an excellent professor, I don't recommend taking hybrid for math. Her accent is UNDERSTANDABLE! & doing homework helps a great deal! Don't talk in class.
She is an okay teacher at math, a bit hard to understand but other than that she's an average professor.
This professor teaches her class like a typical, average math class. There is the normal teaching, plus a story from her life from time to time. Her accent and writing are tolerable, but are needed to learn math in the first place. Just look at the board and you'll get by easily.
Mrs.Johnson is the sweetest, funniest & most down to earth math teacher I've had in a long time. Im retaking mat10 which I didn't pass during the Fall & even the 2nd time around she has made more sense to me inspite of her accent(which is COMPLETELY understandable). She tells what to expect on the test and doesn't throw curve balls. TAKE HER
Funniest greatest math teacher to have evered mathed. Her accent makes you remember everything. Her test are very fair with a MIT question or two which is no problem because Mat 2 students are the best ever. She will soon be telling stories of our great accomplishments. 10/10 will math again.
Literally I took her during spring and she was amazing! the notes are similar questions from the test! she will tell you which questions from your notes are on the test just with different numbers. OBVI... she stories are comedy!! I will be looking forward to taking her during the FALL! take her class! you will love her (:
She is a great teacher! She truly cares for her students and will do a lot for you guys to understand. It feels like she's just another student laughing and conversing with us, but we all respect her. I love her stories about her successful students and I hope I can be another on her list! Practice tests similar to tests! Show up and you will pass!
In the Winter ,the class begins with her answering any homework questions and then she lectures up to three sections. The lectures are kept interesting as she adds in the occasional inspirational story about her past students or a funny story about her life. The homework is collected before exams. Reviews accurately mirror exams. She's the best !
She's an amazing teacher. She has an adorable personality with many antedotes to accompany it. However, I could barely understand everything she said. This coupled with me not finding math the easiest subject was a recipe for disaster. I don't attribute my failure to her but if I would've understood her better I bet I would of pass with at C grade.
Homework is free 10% of grade and she gives good study guides. I took her class over summer 2015 and honestly I have never worked so hard for a class ever! Straight forward though if you do the homework and study hard. Mrs. Johnson really goes out of her way to help her students.
Great Professor! She was very helpful and explained the material, so that it is easy to understand and in a way that will help you remember it. Gives great examples to help you complete the homework, which made it easier to understand for the tests. Wish she was teaching MAT-2 or MAT-3.
She's an amazing professor! I've had her for Math-52 and 35 and in both classes I got an A and I have NEVER gotten an A in math. She cares about her students, makes sure you understand the material and she does what she can to help you pass. I highly recommend her.
Explains concepts thoroughly and repeats if you don't understand it initially. She very clearly explains what is needed on the tests. One thing I didn't like is that she would spend about 20min every day talking about her old students or her life. Not that big of a deal, though. One of the best math professors on campus. I'll take her for MAT1B.
Loved her summer course! She's a very sweet lady who remembers plenty of her students and cares about their success. Despite her accent, she is great at teaching and her grading is superb! You'll know exactly whats on the test and the homework is easy. No curveballs, she covers everything she expects you to learn. Recommend sitting in the front row
Ms. Johnson is the most amazing math teacher I have ever had. I had her for three different math classes and I loved every single one of it. Her class is composed of four tests, she drops the lowest one, a final, and homework on each lesson. You can miss her class but do so at your own will. Her tests are based off lectures. Study guides r perf!
Such a sweet lady. She has an accent, but you'll get used to it. Her lectures are good. She gives out problems that are the same as the ones you'll see on her tests exept she changes the numbers. Also, she offers extra credit on all of her tests and she drops the lowest test score you get.
Miss Johnson is the best math professor at MVC and RCC. She is very good at teaching and really cares about her students. She offers extra credit on every test, and occasionally quizzes for extra credit. She gives study guides for the tests that has problems exactly like the ones on the tests. She has office hours if students need additional help.
By far the best Math professor here RCCD. Her class is very interesting. Her lecture are clear even though her accent might be a bit hard to understand for some people. Do the hwk and you should be fine. & a week before each exam, she will give you problems to focus on. MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THOSE! similar questions on the test.
Genuinely cares about your success as a student. Gives plenty of examples but moves fast (hybrid class). A ton of HW but doable. Gives study guides w/ problems that are on the test just switches up numbers. If you show a general understanding of the problem shell give you points even if answer is wrong. Always has an extra credit problem on exams.
She's a great teacher overall. Her lectures are easy to understand. Her accent is strong when she talks, but is still understandable. Lots of notes and homework, but its honestly not that bad. Her homework and quizzes are online for hybrid classes. Don't forget to study when the big tests come up; a good tip is to review your homework questions.
Horrible professor!
Mrs. Johnson was hands down the best math professor I ever had. She made the material easy to understand by using simple methods to complete the problems that you are given. She's very accessible through email and responds fairly quick. She gives a study guide a week before the exam. Very encouraging and funny
Best Professor I've ever had. Explains everything clearly and concisely. You receive the grade that your earn, so be prepared to put in the proper effort.
I wouldnt recommend taking her. She shows horrible examples and doesnt explain how she does the steps. She does the examples from the book and she doesnt break it down. She talks about her other students and there success instead of teaching calculus. She doesnt show any formulas or anything. Not detailed at all.
MAT 2 also. I think Prof. Johnson very much cares about all of her students. She gives a good amount of homework, and does problems similar to the homework so you have something to look back at. Gives you problems to study before exams, and has clear expectations. Her accent is something you will get used to. She is also funny and adorable.
For calculus it doesn't matter what professor you have, the class requires work. I found johnson to give partial credit on tests, and care more about whether you understand the concept than right answer. She doesn't grade the homework so if you do it you get full credit. She also gives up to 10 points of extra credit on tests.
The course is REALLY difficult but she does an great job in lectures and answers questions very clearly. She's super nice but expects you to put in the effort required for the class - and will call you out on your BS if you make excuses! Overall awesome professor. Sets you up with a solid foundation of Calc III for your future courses.
Have taken Johnson for the majority of my time at MVC, and she has always left me with a solid foundation in whatever class I took with her. She is incredibly friendly and approachable, and always willing to help or talk about anything. Her grading is very fair and she is clear on her expectations, you just have to make sure to not skip lectures!
Would never take this class again. I happened to be taking her math class during the pandemic so watching her lecture videos was like trying to figure out a puzzle. It felt likes she was just doing the math problems without explaining a single thing. Not to mention, her accent makes it difficult to understand literally everything. DO NOT TAKE!
I took Professor Johnson for linear and calc 3. She knows what students need to understand for upper division courses. Not only is she a wonderful professor, she is a mentor and cares for her students. I highly recommend going to her office hours.
I took her class in the Fall 2020. Its online because of COVID-19. It was very hard, because the teacher would barely help us. The class average on each test was always around 60-70%. Whenever my friends and I would reach out to her for help, sh would tell us to re-watch the lecture videos again and again. The teacher doesnt help her students much.
The lessons during COVID-19 were through the form of videos. If you need help on the lesson she will tell you to watch it again even though she doesn't explain the steps. The lessons felt more like a " go over" of the topic rather than an in-depth analysis. There is also a lot of homework that is worth minimal points if that's of any use.
The lectures were pre-recorded during Fall of 2020 and were very hard to follow. The resources I used to learn were from YouTube rather than lectures. The only time you will actually meet for class is during the tests and her office hours. They are short and a lot of students attend these making it hard for multiple questions. Tests are difficult.
Her video lectures are not the best. So you will spend a lot of time on your own trying to learn the material. On the plus side she makes her tests reasonable. A lot of the examples she goes over in her YouTube lectures are on the test. Her grading isn't harsh either. So, not the best teacher but you have a better chance at a good grade.
Took her Spring 2021, all tests are on zoom camera and she doesn't give you the questions. They are displayed on her screen during zoom. Tests are your grade and the HW is long af & tedious for 12 points, tests are 100. She doesn't teach, just goes over a few assignments of her choice and very little space for questions.... WOULD NOT RECCOMED
Fen is an amazing professor. I will say that yes her class is more difficult online compared to taking her in person, but I think that's because learning math in person is a lot easier compared to online. Her tests are very similar to the example problems she goes over in her lectures. Hands down the best math professor to take in the RCCD district
Exams are worth the majority of the grade (90%). HW is 10%. DO NOT RECOMMEND IF YOU ARE A POOR TESTER. She grades very fairly on exams, awards you for what you do right even if you got the answer wrong. She is very kind and helpful if you have hw questions. Make sure you do math the way she teaches. She is very willing to help.
I'm currently taking her during the winter for Math-36 so the course is 3x faster than usual. The problems in her lectures and on the homework show up again on the test. Pay attention to the lectures, do the homework and you'll pass. She's very kind and open to helping you if you're willing to learn. Each exam is like 10 questions + a bonus extra
Professor Johnson has been my professor for nearly all of the higher division math classes I've had while attending RCCD, and I've never ended the course feeling lost. She's very passionate about teaching and her classes, and is very accessible outside of school if you need extra help both in her class and in general.
She was nice but honestly her lecture videos were not useful whatsoever. Sometimes all she would do is write the answer down for one problem and then move on without any type of explanation. There is also over 100 hw problems per week for only 15 points, while tests were 100. There was no balance in the assignments and a lack of proper teaching.
I've taken Mrs.Johnson for all of my upper-level courses. And she is hands down the best professor ever. She teaches you a lot and she even has interesting stories in class. Plus she always has an extra credit question on her exams. Because of her, I feel more than ready for the University. Take her and you won't regret it.
This class is one of my biggest mistakes I have ever made. I trusted one of the comments that its test heavy and what's the worst it can happen. THE TEST ARE FILL IN THE BLANK, not MC like you guys could've elaborated! The HW are giant headache, I had like to juggle 4 classes, and this wasn't help. I don't know how I survived the semester HARD PASS
This professor is unprofessional. She had her lecture videos online uploaded to YouTube but doesn't explain the material at all. Sometimes she will just write down the answer and move on. Her videos do not correlate to the homework and nothing on the homework will help you with the test. Her tests are worth 100% of your grade, and they're very hard
Do not take her if you are NOT good at math. Hard to understand! :(
This was huge mistake that I took this class I should dropout but I didn't also his lecture is on his YouTube channel and his video is too long mostly over one hour long and I couldn't understand his writing either way and there are 4 exam but you to take exam on Zoom meeting also those exam point worth a lot more than homework which it worthless.
-she does not go into detail during her youtube lectures, -does not educate you on the vocabulary -Grading is only 10 points meanwhile tests are 50 points so homework performance does not matter - no extra credit offered -canvas setup makes no sense -screwed myself over taking this course and potentially may not be able to graduate for this lol
One of the best math teachers I've ever had. It's hard stuff but she's supportive and encouraging. Her lectures were clear and to the point. Her tests are highly geared toward the review questions she gives you and she always gives partial credit. She does go on about stories a lot, but highly recommend her class if you like that/don't mind it.
Hw is due on day of exams and dont miss lectures. Exams are based off review questions, review questions are from notes & hw. She likes to tell lots of stories during lectures. If you miss a lecture, there are yt vids of lectures but theyre old and may not go over some things she may have not taught in class. Everything is based off the textbook.
I took Professor Johnson for a majority of my math courses and if given the chance would again. She knows what students need to learn to succeed in engineering. Additionally, she has great lectures and if you're struggling is very reachable and understanding. She really cares for her students.
Almost all of your grade is based on 3 exams. 1 of those is the final. If you are not a good test taker, do not take her class. HW and quizzes will not make a huge difference in your grade. Keep in mind that linear algebra is almost all theory, little math. Thankfully, exam problems are example problems from the lecture.
The lectures are well-structured, and the professor is incredibly knowledgeable. There is a lot of homework, but if done, it aligns well with the material you will be tested on. The professor provides a study guide with homework problems as well as examples done in class that relate to the exam. Overall really great and an approachable individual.
Professor Johnson was a good professor. Although she was very caring and kind, it was hard to understand her sometimes, and her notes were a little hard to read, but don't be afraid to ask questions. She let us use notes for exams, so definitely ask her for that as well.
Very nice and understanding of students' abilities and issues. The lecture videos are long but they have the necessary info for the tests, they are worth most of the grade so take good notes. The material was not hard to understand, and I learned a lot. Great professor.
Good kind and thoughtful professor. Great Professor and really just a keeper. She writes a lot of letters of recommendations. The only problem is that she gives lots of homework but it's worth very few overall points. Exams are where the points are at. She also has a very strong Asian accent. But she curves exams and passes for improvement.
Ms. Johnson is hard but she cares for her students. She wants us to be prepared, so in turn she expects us to know the material. No notes or calculator for quizzes or tests.
Tests are worth everything! This is a homework-heavy course, and if you wait to do it, it's too late. She grades on time since the only assignments are the homework, which is due on test dates, and the test itself. You must pay attention to the lectures and do the homework right after lecture, don't stay behind like I did. She gives amazing advice!
This is one of the hardest classes I have taken, but also the most fulfilling. She will go the extra mile on the lectures, there is no down time. Her accent makes it a little hard to understand new concepts if you didnt read the textbook. DO THE HOMEWORK. ALL TEST ARE BASED ON HW "REVIEW PROBLEMS"
This is a good linear algebra class. She cares about her students and wants the best for them. Everything is weighted equally. Exams and quizzes take the lion's share of the grade. Show up to lecture and do the homework after, you'll do fine. She gives an extra credit quiz near the end of the semester, and gives one extra credit question per exam.
One of the best professors you can take at MVC. Prof Johnson will lecture you and simultaneously give you life advice every class. If you just want an easy A and not genuine advancement to your education, just go to Norco. Take Sean Drake and Fen Johnson, you will learn the material well and have a passionate professor by your side.
By far, the one of the greatest professors I've ever had. Hands down if you need a math professor, she is the one to get. She explains how, why, and what for every topic and really makes sure you understand what the material is saying. She also spaces the lecture out with little side topics about her previous students or how this material is used.
One of my favorite professors at MVC, though the homework might be a decent amount, the tests tend to be clear and straightforward. She doesn't like to put anything tricky or random into her tests. She's always happy to help clarify any questions that you might have. She does like to talk about her past students a lot, but I enjoyed hearing them.
If you're not good at test taking don't take this class she grades only homework and test and the homework isn't enough to makeup the test so unless you know your good with test then teacher is fine she does help at times but overall if test aren't your strong suit avoid this class
Johnson is a pretty good teacher, but I recommend you start with her early in your math courses. Don't take Johnson for the first time if you are in an advanced math class; it will give you time to acclimate to her unique teaching style. About a quarter to a third of the class is talking about past students and tangent stories, so beware.
