Prof He is amazing! She is very helpful. She makes you participate. Take notes. Study. You can ask for help if you need it. As long as you take notes you should understand. Attendance is mandatory. I highly recommend her if you do not understand math or hate it! I never understood math and im getting A's on test! SHe is GREAT! Take her class!A+++
She is wonderful professor, and she helps her students to understand the concepts. She emphasizes doing homework, but she gives good feedback bout difficulties of homework. I took this class for the second time because I had the worst experience grade because of my previous instructor. I got A in her class because of her efforts .I recommend her
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! I took this class in 6 weeks, so there was a lot to do! Her teaching was well done, she knows what she is talking about! Expect a lot of HW. Test are not tough, as long as you do the study guide and STUDY (i mean it, do study) YOU WILL PASS THIS CLASS. I do not regret taking this class. Don't need text book only access code.
If you have to take off for a religious holiday, better find a different class. She will even push you onto her bad side. It makes it hard to ask for help, or even try to understand the material. She has an accent that is really difficult to understand. Tons of HW, she doesn't realize other classes assign homework also. 5-6 chapters (H.W)/class
She has an accent that is extremely difficult to understand. Don't talkback, if you do, she will ignore you for the rest of the year.
I like Professor H. Class. Math has never been an easy subject for me, but her teaching style and methods do work! You must work hard! You should attend her office hours, as well as math lab, and take every extra credit opportunity you can. Always participate in class, attend every session. She is very kind and and respectful, i will miss her.
Professor He was a great teacher. She taught different methods to work certain problems so that math is easy to understand. She's always ready to answer your questions during office hours. Plenty of homework and some group classwork(helpful to practice for exams). "Anybody can do math if they have a growth mindset" - HE. She will encourage you.
I used to think she is a mean person at the very beginning but then I found out that she's not if you did your own work nicely. She makes me like math,a lot chance for extra credits, And gave us some easiler ways to study math. I would like to take her class again in the future, wish she has more classes! Merry Christmas Miss He(r) haha :)
Ms Her is trully one of the best math teachers at SMC. Although she has an accent it does not distract. She is entertaing through out the entire class. I wish there were more teachers like her. Just be ready to due A Lot of Math Lab Home work. most students do their 5 section h.w at the last minute (sunday). DONT! Best advice is to do a h.w a day.
Professor. He was an excellent Math 31 professor. Despite the 2+ hour long classes, she found a way to make the time fly. On top of this, she gives a 10-15 minute break each lecture. Do not get on her made side, she will make it know. She does give a lot of homework, but the majority of the grade comes from quizzes. Take advantage of extra credit!
TAKE HER!! You will not regret it! Her accent is strong, but she types or writes everything out. She gives study guides which HELP for the exams. There are no surprises for the exams. She gives you a lot of options for points and extra credit. Hardly ever get A's but got one here. Thanks Ms. He(r)!
I've never met a teacher who cares more about her students at SMC than she does. She will stay after class and help you at her office hours, sometimes she even helped me passed her scheduled office hours. There was lots of homework and the tests were hard but she gives alot of extra credit. She was super sweet and hilarious. Definitely take her
She is rude and have very heavy accent and most of the students are not able to understand her. Waist of time, don't take her.
Very hard to understand what she says. She is a tough grader and marks little thing wrong. Gives way too much homework and not enough notes.
Disappointed that I did everything I could and still ended with a low grade. I really did try my best. You should come to every class and stay for the whole period or she'll call you out on it in front of everyone. The exams were just way too hard. So much homework. At least one half of the class had bailed by the time finals came along.
Great teacher! Dont buy the book, youll need a mymathlab access code for all of the hw. There will be a lot of hw and a lot of material covered in her lectures, but if you are consistent you will be fine. She offers a lot of extra credit but dont rely on it to save your grade. If you have any questions, try and reach her during office hours.
Tough grader! Won't round or curve grades so expect to work for every single point.
Professor He cares about her students a lot! She monitors your progress in her class. Gives a lot of helpful lectures and materials which you will need for her tests. Tests are based on your homework and quizzes. Her class is very fun and interesting. I made friends in her class whom I still see and do other math classes together.
It's extremely hard to understand what she says. She is rude and does not like to answer question. She answers questions in an insulting manner
I had Prof He for Stats during Fall 16'. I was nervous initially but she gives very clear grading criteria & lectures are typed out so it doesn't matter that she has a slight accent. You MUST work for your grade. Review class notes, & study guides! Do all the online hw & get tutored from math lab. Anyone is able to pass this class if ur dedicated!!
I took Math 54 Fall 2016. As long as you do the online homework and study guides you are golden. The best way to study for her tests are to review the study guide. Even though the notes are typed, it is good to write it down as well. Do all the extra credit she offers. As long as your are motivated from the beginning, you will pass the class.
I've never been the kind of person who does well in math. Professor He assigned a lot of hw but it was worth it. With so many problems to solve and completing extra credit review guides, I felt prepared. Be ready to study hard for her class! It is not easy but if you push yourself and dedicate a couple hrs for every hw and study, you're set.
Winter '17(late review). M-F for 6 weeks. PreAlgebra. Must attend class. Very knowledgeable. Lectures on powerpoint & writing on the board. Take Notes. Interactive w/ students. Makes sure you understand the subject. HW is online. Buy Books!Test day, must turn in a Wksht from Supplemental Pkg Book. Funny. Take every EC opportunity. Clear grading.
Prof He is one of the sweetest people I've met. However, she tends to bring her personal life into lectures and becomes emotional. Weekly online HW and quizzes. A lot of extra credit. Group projects. She teaches with passion and wants to make sure you really understand the material. It will be to your advantage if you attend all lectures.
Very nice lady, but a very challening teacher. coming off spring break, rather than setting the day we come back as a review day, makes it a midterm day, and also required us to complete multiple assignments along with 2 online quizzes. It is very easy to get lost in this class and honestly, youre better off teaching yourself the material
Very fun teacher. I took her stats class and found that she has a way of taking something as "fun" as math and making it better. She leaves lots of room to improve your grade and is there for students when they need her. Her class is really engaging and you might find it to be fun as i did. Keep in mind the book was mainly bought for online access.
Professor He is great. I don't know what everyone is on about. Just do your work, like in every subject, and you'll do well! She gives you study guides and the homework is manageable and prepares you well. No A is ever a free A so don't expect to wing this class, you're going to have to work for it but Prof. He gives you every opportunity to do so.
strict about attendance will drop you if you miss more than 3days. homework all the time but she wont tell you because its online and if you miss it, she wont give you a second chance , grades rlly dumb, and you need an active paper every class or you wont get credit that day. Even if you are late to class she will count it as you werent there
Professor He is a fantastic professor who provides printed lecture notes, many in-class examples & in depth explanations of complex concepts. She is very accessible and dedicated to her students. I'm actually now a math tutor focusing on statistics and I credit her teaching methods for how well I now know the subject. Definitely take her class!
She is so amazing that she gives many extra credit points such as participation, perfect attendance, and improving your exam score points. She will inspire you with statistics on how you will use your data points. If you skipped class, you may ask another classmate for the class notes. Her lecture notes and exam reviews help prepare for thetest.
One of the best math teachers I've had so far. Gives plenty of examples and does a review on the material before any quiz or test. Asks if anyone has any questions before moving on to the next section. Don't be afraid to ask questions or speak up when the material is confusing. Does practice problems at the beginning of every class.
She's a great professor Great motivator, prepared lecture notes, tons of extra credit opportunities. Stay on top homework, take advantage of extra credits So the quizzes. There's no reason that you can't pass the class with hard work
she actually subbed for my math20 instr and was such a delightful contrast in teaching style. her communication is clear and thorough - she explains the lesson in detail while engaging student participation while exuding patience and understanding. i fully intend to take her math 54 course and wish she would also teach pre cal and above.
Professor He is the most caring person, even during summer semester (6weeks) she tried her best to manage her time and put in work to get us in the right track. The more you put in work, the better grade you will receive. You dont have to attend her every classes, but the responsponsibilities is on you. Make sure to go to her office hour for help!
The most understanding and hard working professor I've ever met. That's not to say she's any easy A really. She works hard, so it's only fair for students to work hard too. There are a lot of extra credit chances ended up with over 100%. The exams are online and you record yourself. Practice, do homework/extra credit, ask questions, and get an A.
She is a funny and caring woman. Her tests are easy and the exact same as the homework and the quizzes which are both take home. She offers TONS of extra credit but you really won't need it because the class is super easy. But she does get a little confused sometimes and her homework is tedious and too much at times.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!! DO NOT take her this is one of the worst professor I've ever had . Her accidente is very tick which makes it so hard to understand, she makes numerous of mistakes which makes it confusing for those who are trying to learn. She is never consistent as to what she says .. she'll say one thing and do the other, is also very rude
HORRIBLE!! Everyone is scared of her in class. If you ask a question she will reply "go see a tutor," or " you should of learned this already." Not helpful! You need to take three steps just to take an exam! She makes things harder than they should be. She considers students helping each other CHEATING!! Please listen to the bad comments and run.
Honestly, this professor is the reason I'm writing my first review, geez do not take her she is not clear and always making homework due at various times, she is not helpful. Example: waiting until a week is left to turn in the group project and then not explain what we need to do.
a lot of homework
She isnt that fair to some people. She goes through stuff too quickly and its really hard to get things in. She compared our class to her others. She blames us for things we cant control (our WiFi, if someone leaves the group project, etc). She made us stay pass class time and even made my group go into office hours to do a presentation.
We had more than half of the class drop out. And people are even struggling to get Cs in this class. I dont like to complain but shes not the type of teacher that you want to ask help for even.
HORRIBLE!! If you ask a question she will reply "go see a tutor," or " you should have learned this already." Not helpful! You need to take three steps just to take an exam! She makes things harder than they should be. She considers students helping each other CHEATING!! Please listen to the bad comments and run.
Math is a DIFFICULT subject for me, I work slow and ask many questions. If this is you, do not take Math with her! She moved so fast when lecturing I couldn't keep up with my note taking, I often had to re-watch lecture videos and even then I was often lost. She was not willing to explain things more than once. I was trying to learn things myself.
She is honestly the sweetest teacher you will ever have. She takes a sincere interest in her students and makes them feel like you are more than just a number. As a teacher, she is a great model for integrity and hard work. If you get the opportunity, TAKE HER!
Professor He is nice! In class, once students have problems, she will explain them patiently to make sure we understand. Once a student makes a mistake for the first time, she will forgive and promptly help correct it to ensure that the student will not make the same mistake again. And sometimes she is very funny and bring us happy.
A bit surprised to see some bad reviews here for Professor He She is really nice and even offers formula sheets on her exams including the final. Most scores are pretty high and it makes sense. Study guides are 90% the same as tests.
I hadn't taken a math class in a long time was scared when I took her class, yes she sometimes deviated from what she was teaching but I was able to learn. Her test are a bit ridiculous with proctorio and all the hoops you have to jump before you take the test but if you study you will do great. She really is a good teacher with a few flaws .
Homework is online mult choice but you are required to also handwrite it, including the questions & the full answers (even if a paragraph long). Must complete highly formatted note packets so you spend your entire time trying to match formatting and find where to fill out the packet instead of listening and writing your own notes the way you learn.
Participate during class session. You will learn a lot. All the active ticket points add up towards the end. Trust me, when you are sitting at 89%, you really want all the extra points you can get. Do your homework and the quizzes and practice exams are 99% similar to the exams and final exams. Put in work and put 60 hrs weekly. Took during summer
I took this as a 6-week summer course and it really was a lot of work. However, I turned in my homework on time and did all the extra credit when given. Professor He really did make the class work long and hard hours, but she also was very understanding and did her absolute best to make sure everyone was learning the material. Plus, she is kind.
Took this stats class as someone who is from outside of SMC. The professor was very nice overall, tries her best to make lectures fun and enjoyable. The class is pretty easy, as long as you go to class, do the homework and practice quiz, you will be guaranteed an A. Class and work does get a bit hectic after Exam2, so don't fall behind.
Never helped students that needed it, her office hours were only for general questions not for math help. The absurd amount of note packets also dont correlate to the homework given, so youd sit there forever teaching yourself. She gives a lot of extra credit and really tries to get everyone to participate but if you struggle with math, no
Super unorganized, doesn't respond to email. Posts so much unnecessary stuff. You only pass if you participate a lot and pass exams.
I learned so much from Prof He and she is taking the time to explain to me during office hours. She has study guides which are so helpful to prepare for exams. Take her and you would feel very encouraging.
She's a great personality, but a tough grader. Make sure to stay in contact with her and she'll help you in all areas that you need it
Professor Fendi He has been the most difficult/horrible professor I've had in my entire education experience. She is terrible with giving clear instruction and her thick accent and messy handwriting makes learning from her incredibly difficult. She does not take the time to listen to student concerns and she talks often talks over your questions.
She fully disregards disabilities. If you need accommodations do not trust her to let you use them.
Professor He goes out of her way to ignore students questions even going as far as to speak over them. If you do not understand something she refuses to help and says it is your responsibility to teach yourself. As well as this she contradicts herself and with her thick accent it is hard to follow along in class
DO NOT take Professor He. She is very disorganized. She is inaccessible outside of her office hours (Only an hour, before class). Imagine 4 students trying to get help an hour before class (literal feeding frenzy). If you are not good at math this is not the class for you. Quizzes have problems that you did not go over during the lecture. beware.
Clearly lays out the requirements for the course. Also provides plenty of extra credit opportunities to those that are falling behind which is very much appreciated. Also has office hours right after zoom class so very accessible to communicate with.
I loved taking this class, all of the class is just note-taking and the homework assignments are pretty easy if you pay attention. If I had paid more attention in class, I might have received a solid A. She will explain any questions you have and help you understand. There were about 4 tests (not very difficult) and a couple of quizzes.
Professor is nice, cares about the students' success, teaches and explains concepts well during lectures, and makes the class a sociable class that involves students constantly interacting with both the professor and fellow students. I really enjoy that she tries her best to make the lecture entertaining.
Professor He gave us plenty of options and opportunities to help us do well, improve our grades, and understand the material. She does not weigh heavily on tests and gives us plenty of leeway for us to improve our grades. She really wants us to succeed. I've always failed math, and this is my first A ever and I actually understand the material.
Professor He can be difficult for those who don't put any effort into her class. I've taken stats 3 times and she's the one I was able to pass with. She is actually really helpful in terms of increasing your grade if you're willing to put in the work. I got a C due to my own laziness and irresponsibility. If you cant handle the first exam, drop it.
She is a very open and welcoming professor to open up our class and allows us to feel comfortable very quickly. Her lecture is very engaging. You will need to make sure to pay attention, do your homework, and prepare for the exam. Teachers like her make SMC a better place to learn!
took professor He fall semester of22. she is awesome. Very caring & understanding & really knows the subject well. She uses a book with notes that you fill in with as she teaches. takes notes & ask her questions she NEVER makes you feel dumb. exams are a little hard. Just make sure you do ur notes & understand.
If you're not good at math, take one of her courses. I promise you that she is one of the nicest teachers and she wants you to pass. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and even drops a couple of the lowest assignments and quizes for everyone at the end of the semester. She's the GOAT of math at SMC.
Professor He was an amazing professor. She always tried to keep the class entertained and had good lectures. The were a lot of homework tho. She would give so many types of extra credits and offer so much to her students. She dropped the lowest exam and two of the online quizzes. Would hundred percent take her again!
Professor He is a really caring and wonderful teacher. She gives yo TONS of extra credit and if you do most of them you'll get above 100% grade overall. She drops the lowest exam, the lowest hw and the lowest quiz. She truly wants you to succeed. The extra credits are sooo easy. But you have to do all the homework in order to be successful.
I've never had a teacher that cared so much about his/her student's success as professor He did.ALOT of extra credit and she drops lowest scores. The only downside of the class is if you miss a day you'll be significantly behind as its new material every day.Gets a bit hectic at the end with hw/tests but stay on top of work and don't procrastinate!
So many good things to say about Professor He. She really cares about her students and loves to crack jokes. Attendance is mandatory and her lectures are mostly fill-in-the-blank with a ton of examples. Make sure to keep your exam cheat sheets so you can take them for your final. There's a crazy amount of extra credit opportunities
Such a great professor! So many opportunities to get extra credit it should be easy to pass. Notes are all fill in the blank and she explains things very well. She cares about her students which makes learning the subject super fun. Enjoyed my time in her class and would recommend it.
My first year attending college and she was my favorite professor. She was super nice and cared about her students. Provided a lot of extra credit which really helped and she drops some grades at the end of the year. Highly recommend taking her class.
This professor was very unorganized and decided to take it out on the student's grade. She constantly talked in class which made us fall behind, and assigned a bunch of homework on test days because of this. She doesn't accommodate you at all, even with family emergencies. She's very nice but doesn't accommodate your emergencies like she claims to.
Highly recommend this class if you need a math credit. The awesome professor who offers you a chance to succeed. Do the extra credit along with the normal assignments and you will succeed. She also teachers really well and it's pretty easy to learn stats through her course. Its just a matter of applying yourself, going to office hours, and study!
Had her last semester, received a good grade (Math major -stats easy, not her). She's kind and lovely, but I'd recommend taking other instructors. She's very unorganized, messy notes, announcements, and handwriting. Frequently sends announcements at random hours even midnight. If you find poor spoken grammar and accents annoying, then, avoid.
Not sure why most of these reviews are so high. But, this professor is very unorganized (overcomplicates things). Take this professor if you can teach yourself math through outside resources, because she does not teach that well. I did not feel as seen as a student, especially when communicating with her.. she often misinterprets what you say.
Take this if you hate math and need some happiness! She prepares note-taking packets and gives so much extra credit. Just don't leave things for the end because material gets heavy
LOVE PROF HE She gave out note packets that u have to fill out and the homework was all online. She replaces the lowest exam grade with HW grade and drops the lowest quiz. She has a ton of extra credit. The workload was average, there was a final group project at the end. She is a little disorganized though.
To sum it up, gives a packet of notes to fill in and complete in class, gives points for answering, some extra credit, cheat sheets for tests. Don't be fooled, she is unorganized, late to midterm, rambles, confusing teaching (taught myself ALL of the material) and notes barley help, the online homework does a better job at explaining. Never again.
BEST Statistics Math Professor at SMC. You will need to attend class and participate that is the biggest part of you learning to concept of statistics. As long as you complete all assignments and pass your quizzes and exams with an A or B you will pass this class. Make sure you ask questions and attend her office hours and she gives extra credit.
Prof. Fendi is the sweetest professor ever. She genuinely cares about all her students as long as you show her that you are trying in the class. People who say this class is hard are not willing to put in the work. My advice for this class is to learn the info on your own through MyStatLab and then use her lectures to fully understand the concept.
New Proffesor. Awful
One of the most unorganized professors I have ever had. Takes weeks or months to grade things. Hard to access outside of class and when you do talk to her in class there is always a line that can last up to 40 minutes answering questions. Grading system makes absolutely no sense. Avoid if you are trying to have a good statistics experience.
Professor, He is very kind, she cares about her student's success and it shows- with that being said this course is very assignment-heavy and fast-paced. Due to the amount of students she has, grading takes a long time and it's hard to get clear instruction. I'd recommend this course to someone so long as it is the only course being taken.
Prof. He cares for her students to not only pass but to get an A. There is so much extra credit opportunities, between handwritten work on Pearson online homework, to completing exam study guides before each exam. You will need to buy the online textbook for access code to complete Pearson homework and quizzes but text book isn't really used.
hated the class, but that's bc I was planning on BS like I always do. If you pay attention, do the work, and ask for help when needed, you will, without a doubt, pass the class! She's so sweet and always wants her students to succeed. she offered one extra credit assignment and she dropped our lowest test score as a gift. (the reason I passed lol)
I took Stats, Math 54, during the Winter. It was very easy to get an A, there are lots of opportunities for extra credit. You get a cheat sheet on all the tests, and if you do all the homework, you will know how to do everything. Professor He was amazing, she was very engaging, and made class fun. I looked forward to class every day.
Professor He treats her class with patience, opportunities, and respect, creating a welcoming, unjudgmental environment. Her exams are almost parallel to her study guides, and she takes class time to review before exams. She gives frequent reminders for important due dates and tutoring through Canvas. Keep yourself on track and you'll do well.
I'm taking this professor for the second time, and she is truly awesome! Her lectures are incredibly detailed, with clear and organized notes that make complex topics easier to understand. She goes out of her way to provide great help, ensuring her students feel supported every step of the way. Highly recommend her class to anyone.
I got a chance to take this professor in winter 2025 when I arrived to the United States on the first week . Her warm welcome , easy to approach personality help me feel ease. Often times, she gives a cold joke in the middle of lecture to make sure the lecture is not intense. I got my well deserved A with her guided notes and zoom recordings.
While Professor He was caring and showed support at the beginning of the semester there was never much communication outside of class and was very hard to receive a response from. This course is exam heavy and most of the homework and small quizzes are online. They did not always match up with the exams given in class. I would not recommend.
goat prof, please take if her if u can. amazing at teaching concepts, organized w/ easy to follow worksheets, along w/ helpful hw. a LOT of extra credit opportunities, drops lowest quiz and exam (out of 3 each). easy to communicate with outside of class. amazing, caring, and funny person that created a strong sense of community in the classroom.
an absolutely incredible professor. Creates multiple opportunities for students to receive extra credit, as well as personalized study time. Truly goes above and beyond any effort I have seen other professors do, you can tell she truly loves teaching. which is rare. Extremely positive and motivating, if you have the opportunity choose her.
This professor is really good, there are three tests and a final. The three tests are 45% of the grade, and the final is 25%.She drops the lowest quiz and the lowest test. Her notes are very clear, and she shows exactly what you need to remember for the exams. On regular tests, we could use two pages of notes, and on the final, we could use six pages.
