Generous grader and you can tell he cares about his students.
He's very funny and extremely easy. Take his class.
I wish there where more profs were like Ferg, I loved this class! Take it!
I love Ferg!
He was my favorite teacher. Take this class!
This class was very good and I would 10 out of 10 recommend.
Great professor, really funny!
Great class
Not a lot of work. Show up to class and do the couple of assignments and you get an A.
Great professor! Really cares about his students. Great class, learned a lot!
This class was really easy, but would require random things we needed to do. He would take attendance randomly so it was in your best interest to go, but not necessary to get the information because he puts everything online. The 2 tests are hard but it doesn't really matter because the big group project at the end of the year is 45% of grade!
Great professor. Super easy, he tells you what exactly is going to be on the exams. Very funny, young and keeps the lectures entertaining. I would definitely this course again with Keatinge.
Fergus is super awesome instructor that is very funny and knowledgeable. The quizzes are easy peasy, and you are probably going to get an A even if you do terrible on the midterms. But definitely make sure to do all the quizzes and the project report! Pretty cool instructor!
The professor was awesome, he understood that some of us took this class as a General Education requirement and was extremely accommodating to my schedule. Really helpful and a great public speaker.
Easy and interesting
Professor Ferg was absolutely amazing. I STRONGLY recommend taking his class over any online variation or alternate professor. Excellent class and teaching ability.
Funny guy, good lecturer. Really easy course, just make sure that you do take notes and speak up in class.
One of the only lectures i enjoyed going to in my time at UF. He makes the class engaging and easy to excel.
He actually cares for the students which means a lot! You will learn a lot through his lectures and teaching strategies
Very easy, hate the subject, like the class.
He makes class a lot of fun and you don't have to go every day but you really should try to pay attention in class because the tests are really hard and you'll want to study for them. Other than that, it is nearly impossible to not get an A or an A- in this class.
Professor Keatinge was probably the chillest teacher I've had. His class wasn't too hard. Just study for the tests, do all the quizzes, participate and come to class, and kill the group project and you're guaranteed an A. I'm not a fan of geography whatsoever, but he's so funny and entertaining and gives good life lessons, so lectures were fun!
Ferg is amazing. Very laid-back, helpful, and engaging.
He makes the class come alive.
Definitely recommend you taking this class with Fergus. He is the most helpful, nice, understanding professor you will meet and is there for you anytime. His lectures are straight forward as well as the quizzes and assignments. I recoomend attending the majority or every lecture if possible. I would take this class again if I could! No textbook
The main part of your grade in this course focuses on a group project so don't leave that till the night before it's due.
Excellent teacher with a heart for learning and fashion.
Ferg is quite literally one of the most caring professors at UF. He is an extremely intelligent and knowledgeable grad. student, and he does everything he can to make sure his student excel in all areas of college life- not just in his class. He lectures are interesting and easy to follow. 2 exams, 1 group project, 1 paper, no final.
+++ One of my first classes, best professor, doesn't require buying textbooks, would highly recommend.
Very interesting lectures and light workload. Two fair midterms. The best part about this class is Fergus!! You'll have a group project at the end of the course .He gives excellent life lessons and makes the class enjoyable. He really tries to relate to his students and help them in any way he can. Highly recommend this class!
Very good and down to earth professor, fun class in extreme weather and helpful tips to surviving college
He made the class fun and enjoyable for a non-science major. As long as you attend class and pay attention to the power points, you'll pass the exams. The biggest part of this class is the group project. I'm not a fan of relying on other people, but he grades you on your own work.
Prof. Keatinge is the best professor you can take at UF if you're in your first semester or just want a relaxed and understanding professor. He understands the student lifestyle and is very down to earth about the way he teaches. Homework was a weekly quiz, and tests are straight from slides. Take if you can get the chance; British accent is great!
Would definitely take his class again or any class he offers. Super easy class, and he genuinely cares for his students; One of the coolest professors I've ever had.
Very cool teacher. Take him.
Fergus is a fun dude and I liked this class. You cover A LOT of material in lectures, so it can be hard to keep up, but he puts the lectures online for studying. He's a very generous grader, and if you put in a fair amount of work, you'll succeed. A+
cares a lot about students success. class is actually enjoyable
As a freshman, I always looked forward to coming to class and hearing what Keatinge has to say. Class is enjoyable and goes by quickly. 10/10 would recommend!
He's a pretty cool dude. There are 2 midterms that are all multiple choice and there's no final. There is a group project that is worth a big chunk of your grade. There are quizzes every week, but he gives unlimited time and unlimited attempts to complete them, SO DO THEM. He credits these quizzes as "extra credit." He randomly takes attendance.
Very caring and good teacher! Love his accent and also helps that he is cute! lol
Please take this class with Ferg! He understands that we pay for this class, and he knows how to cut the BS that other teachers generally give.
Great professor, very passionate about his work, and a genuinely great guy. His lectures were never boring and the material was not too bad. Would highly recommend this class.
This guy is pretty much everything you want in a gen ed professor. He's funny, doesn't assign busy work, and explains things clearly and in a straightforward manner. Also, he "doesn't believe in" final exams or textbooks, so that's definitely a plus. He also has review sessions before each midterm giving the exact material on the test.
Cool teacher, easy grader.
Ferg is the professor that wants to help you. He knows the pressure on us, acknowledges that school is expensive (he won't require you to buy any textbooks!), and wants to impart more than just knowledge about extreme weather. He is generous and willing to work with you, but I would recommend studying for the exams. If you do, you'll be just fine!
Professor Ferg was awesome! Definitely take his class!!!
The professor was always looking to help out students
Interesting and doable class, makes you want to come to class!
I loved taking this class. Keatinge keeps it lively, interesting and is very enthusiastic about his subject. 10/10 recommend.
No words needed... Take him! Clear expectations and bearable lectures.
He cares about his students and cares about doing well. Overall a very good professor
Fergus is a great teacher. He genuinely wants to help students learn, not only about the class, but about life in general. The class doesn't require much work, just keep up with the notes and you'll be fine on the midterm. I definitely recommend this class, and would love to take anything else taught by Ferg!
This course was one of the best course I've taken at UF. Professor Fergus Keatinge was amazing! Class was easy and clear to understand.
Great professor, really looks out for his students.
Very good teacher. Personable and gives great lectures. if you listen and go to class than you will get an A. Work outside of class is minimal. I really enjoyed his class. He tries to help you in class and even outside of class.
Ferg was an awesome professor who really cares for his students. His lectures were great and the class itself was relatively easy. You don't need to worry about buying the textbook because all the information is posted in the lectures. Ferg, you are the b
Professor Keatinge teaches a bit fastly but he makes up for it by being understanding with grades. You're essentially guaranteed an A so don't worry. Also the weighting of assignment is in your favor. He's awesome! Easy A!
Very good profesor but the final is a group project.
very good professor and very easy class
He's a great teacher! He has good lectures and cares that we all do well.
He only gives a couple of exams all semester and weekly quizzes that are really easy. There's a big group project at the end of the semester but he let's you pick your own topic and grades pretty leniently.
Interesting content with cool prof!
Strongly recommend this professor, class was not hard, you should for sure study, especially if you aren't that interested in the weather.
He makes the lectures interesting and makes the class fun. The weekly quizzes aren't bad at all, and there's a group project at the end of the semester. I really enjoyed him.
Lecture are entertaining and does not make the class hard.
Professor Keatinge is one of the best professors I've had at UF. He is funny, gives clear expectations, and cares about his students. There is no required textbook so you have to make sure to study his PowerPoints in order to pass his exams.
He was really great. This is a fun and easy class to take with a harder schedule. He made lectures fun to listen to and really cares about the students. He's very willing to help any student out if they need it.
Ferg is a great guy. The class is light on tests and heavy on a group project. I am terrible in the sciences so I found the two tests to be hard, but they are only worth 15% combined. He is laid-back and does things differently. He likes to give life lessons and is very friendly. You don't have to buy the book.
Ferg is a great professor and I would recommend him for anyone. Took his class as a History Major and he made extreme weather easy to learn! Tests can be rather difficult but not to bad. I really enjoyed his class!
Fergus rocks. All you have to do is study the powerpoints and do a group project.
He is a little full of himself, but he means well. He gives good advice on Friday's and usually you get out of lecture early.
Ferg was a great teacher! He is very fun and an easy grader. Probably the best class I have taken at UF!
Great professor. Very reasonable.
Very, very lenient grader. Means well and offers lots of advice for students on getting through college, though as a senior it's largely irrelevant. Interesting material, very easy course.
Extremely easy class and professor, but he is a cool guy and made it enjoyable.
Only two exams, and a group project for the final. Weekly quizzes that are easy with unlimited attempts. Very lenient grader, wants you to pass with an A. He doesn't make you buy any textbooks .
Ferg is awesome! Super easy weekly quizzes, 2 exams, and one project. Highly recommend taking this course.
Awesome professor, he really tries to teach you about life and college, not just Weather!! I'd definitely recommend this!!
To say the least, it is rare to encounter a professor that genuinely wants everyone to pass and not spend ridiculous amounts of money on useless materials for class. Everything was straight forward, and if you did your job, you got an A. On top of an A, I feel I have learned a surprising amount, given this course was outside my major.
He's a pretty laid back professor. There are group projects but they are not as bad as they seem. Also, for exams if you focus on the powerpoint slides he uploads you'll be perfectly fine. Not difficult to get a good grade unless you don't try.
He really cares about his students and wants them to succeed! He is always available to chat about the class or life in general. If you put a fair amount of effort into doing well, he will make sure you earn your A!
Great teacher, he really cares about the students. Very relatable and wants students to do well in the class. There are two midterms, easy quizzes, an article review, and a group project worth a lot. The midterms are harder than he says they will be, but aren't worth much. As long as you try, he is a very nice grader and understanding person.
The class isn't as interesting as I was hoping, there was more of a focus on weather processes and not just severe weather. Its an easy A though, weekly quizzes with unlimited attempts. Midterms are a little tricky but won't destroy your grade. Final group project just needs to be finished and you'll be fine.
I love Ferg. Very funny, super approachable. He's a PhD student and very laid back. Class was interesting for me (but I'm interested in the field). Weekly quizzes with unlimited attempts. Tricky midterms, but easy enough to get an A or B on them. Overall, super easy class to get an A in. Only one group project, but it's not that bad honestly.
Ferg is by far one of the nicest professors at UF. You can tell he really cares about how his students do. You do not need to be amazing in class to get a good grade, he will literally help you in any way to get there. The quizzes are simple, the exams are kinda hard but he gives you all the material to get an A. Highly recommend this class/prof.
Pretty easy class. The course material is a little bit tricky, there is no require use of a book, all the material comes from his lectures. Tests count as 15% of your final grade (2 midterm assessments), while the group project at the end of the semester basically determines your overall grade.
Great teacher, makes rather boring material interesting.
Do the work and you'll get an A, easy exams
test quizes are super easy its a joke just ther eis a group project at the end that is worth 45% of your grade but he is amazing
Honestly, my favorite teacher I've had at UF. Super funny guy, but also a great teacher. Quizzes are all online, unlimited attempts. Only 2 exams, he prepares you well for both. Final assignment is pretty easy and is a group project on a topic you choose. Highly recommend this class/ professor for anyone looking for some gen eds. Feng is the man
Ferg was a fantastic teacher and made the class very interesting and something to look forward to each week. I would highly recommend taking this course! He was very clear with what he expected of us and you have plenty of time to finish the group project.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Hilarious but a great teacher! Quizzes are online. Unlimited attempts. Only two exams but study well for them. And the final assignment is pretty easy. I would take this class to get some easy science credits if you don't need to take chemistry or physics.
Ferg is a great teacher highly recommend taking this class.
He's the bee's knees and the cat's pajamas
Loved the class. He's very animated during lectures, and he is passionate about the topic. However, you can't just not pay attention in class. The exams are actually pretty tricky if you slack off. Hardest part about the class is the group project at the end, but it's still completely doable.
The extreme weather class is pretty interesting. Grades are determined by weekly quizzes with unlimited attempts, 2 tests, an article review (easy 100%), a group project at the end of the class, and attendance and class participation points. The class is not extremely work intensive, so if you do what you have to you'll get an A.
Highly recommend taking this course. Ferg is amazing!
Ferg is very understanding when it comes to seeing college from the student's perspective. He makes classes fun to attend and realizes when the students start to lose focus on the subject. In my opinion, Ferg is the best professor at UF.
Really cool professor. Class isn't too difficult.
He is great. Take him because you are not going to regret it.
Helpful teacher. Class based on group project. Good class for physical science.
Ferg is a great teacher, he cares a lot
Best teacher ever
Great instructor! Looked forward to coming to this class more than any others. Learned a lot about weather that added to my knowledge which I will use as a commercial pilot.
Ferg is an amazing professor. His lectures are great, twice a week, and he makes them interesting because he's super passionate about geoscience. He also gives great life advice along with his lectures, which is extremely helpful to all of us I would definitely take his class again, he is super realistic with exams and assignments.
I love Ferg. Super fun class, super cool guy, he is absolutely brilliant and I loved this class.
Ferg is very knowledgeable and passionate about the course material. Lectures are short and interesting, and he's very accommodating if you miss class or an exam. Definitely recommend taking his class
literally the best professor I've had at UF so far.
Fun class, easy tiny quizzes and assignments. Ferg makes things interesting and fun. Everybody should take this class.
Ferg is a great teacher, he will help you pass the class and attending class is recommended to help with the exam material.
Ferg is a great teacher for extreme weather. Go to lecture to get attendance and just talk to him before class casually and you'll get participation. He posts the lectures on canvas so just study the week of the tests and you'll be fine because they aren't a big chunk of your grade. If you need the class or are interested at all I'd recommend it.
It's a simple class, but you actually learn stuff! Ferg is such an awesome guy and teacher. Gives great life advice and is always available to help his students in any way he can.
Ferg is a great professor. He has the best interest of his students at heart. He does, however, tend to talk a little bit quickly! Don't forget to take the online quizzes! Those are easy to miss and worth a decent amount of points. Overall, Ferg is a funny guy who wants everyone to get a good grade and learn something along the process.
There is a group project at the end, but it's not that hard and you don't have to worry about your grade being affected by slackers. He makes it clear at the beginning of term that he expects everyone to contribute equally. Participation is also important. Overall, great class and great professor.
Great for a physical gen ed credit
He's a cool dude and the class is fun. Great course for those with no background in the subject. You want to take this if you can.
Ferg is awesome! He's super understanding and tries to make your life as easy as possible. Even if you're not a good tester, there's only 2 exams. The final group project is worth a huge chunk of your grade but super easy.
Really easy to understand & has a great teaching personality
Great teacher! Wants his students to succeed and get A's. He makes the material as easy as possible IF you come to class. Very understanding!!
He is a really nice professor and actually cares about his students outside of the classroom. He wants to make sure that all of his students graduate on-time and are provided all the resources that are provided on campus.
This class wasn't in my major I just needed a science credit. I enjoyed going though, Ferg isn't a tough Professor and he really wants everyone to pass. Don't underestimate the difficulty of the midterms though.
He is really nice/funny and he wants everyone to do well in the class. As long as you do the weekly online quizzes and put effort into the group project you will do fine. I really enjoyed this class.
Real recognizes real. Ferg is truly caring and genuinely wants to help his students succeed. You will not do poorly in this class if you put in the effort. Definitely recommend the course and instructor.
Cool Guy
Ferg was one of the best professors I've ever had. He loved the subject and cared deeply for it. I would highly recommend this class for anyone who needs a P gen ed credit.
Really good class for gen ed. The tests can be a bit tricky but the group project is worth a lot and the professor is good about working with you.
No final exam but a group project that acts like a final exam. Easy to pass if you come to class and take notes.
great guy, really cares about his students. Tests are difficult but are manageable with studying
Super fun professor that makes class enjoyable.
Professor is friendly and amusing. Class isnt very difficult however, if you go thats all it really takes to pass the tests with a B. Skipping isnt a huge deal but he randomly checks attendance.
Super chill guy; the class has a lot of information to memorize for the exams, though.
A really fun professor, always had a positive attitude about weather, and made learning fun. Attendance is not accounted for, but would recommend going because it is an easy lecture to sit through, and typically gets out early. He e-mails back within the hour, which is helpful. Super cool guy, has an accent.
What a guy
He is amazing.
Fairly easy class. There are quizzes every week, two Midterms and a group project at the end. Anybody should be able to get an A.
the lectures were fun and easy. super easy and chilled class to be in.
This guy is Mr. Magic Ferg. Makes what would be a very boring class into an enjoyable experience.
He is very knowledgeable on Extreme Weather. His class is very lecture based, so there's not much interactive activities. There are 12 EASY quizzes, 2 semi-hard exams, 1 essay, and 1 group project. He answers emails back fast and is extremely helpful. Not a really hard class unless you make it hard yourself.
Honestly he's a chill professor. Emphasis on the CHILL. He makes joke in lectures, there's 12 quizzes that are very straightforward and simple. Defiantly would take again 10/10 if you need a physical science credit then do it. The information is easy, the quizzes are easy, and the tests are easy. There is one group project at the end.
Class was great, plenty of time to complete assignments and lectures are always clear and concise.
Good class, good lectures, study a good amount and you'll pass, really funny and really nice guy, 10/10 would take again
Love Ferg. He is a really relatable professor and makes things pretty easy to understand in lectures. He's hilarious and even though this class was extremely far from my major, he made it fun and interesting.
Ferg is the coolest teacher ever. Makes learning enjoyable! In general, I am not a fan of science, and he made me love this course. There are weekly quizzes, but you can take them as many times as you want and there is no time limit. There are also 2 midterms which are fairly easy. 1000% recommend taking GEO2242 or any other class with Ferg.
Fergus Keatinge is one of the most engaging instructors at UF. He will take time to answer questions and help his students comprehend the material. He makes topics fun and interesting.
Very interesting class on a topic not typically explored in other physical science classes. I can honestly say that I learned a lot of new things by taking this class. As far as physical science credits go at UF, this is one of the better classes. If you follow directions and study the lecture slides, you're golden.
What a guy, I wish he was my dad
He is a great teacher and even though attendance isn't mandatory, I went to class every day. His teaching style makes the information easy to understand. If you try, there's no way to fail this class.
Ferg is a super cool guy. He's very flexible and understanding. He let me make up an exam a week later because my flight got delayed. He also gives "hints" for his exams which gives you a few freebee questions.
Solid, would take again. Easy, but there is definitely effort required. Fun lectures, you definitely need to study for the tests. There is one big group project at the end.
HE HAS AN ENGLISH ACCENT!! Ferg is by far one of the best professors I've had the pleasure of learning from. He is enthusiastic, caring, funny, and genuinely wants to see his students succeed. Group projects are at the end of the semester but he grades individually. He's flexible with his students and is approachable with any academic problems.
Easy class with a hilarious professor! He's super cool, understanding, and is passionate about the subject. He genuinely wants people to succeed. Would love to have him again.
Great professor. He really wants you to pass. As long as you come to class and pay attention you're practically guaranteed an easy A.
Keatinge is pretty funny and laid back, and he grades pretty leniently. His lectures are short but get to the point. He's very approachable and genuinely wants people to do well in his class. Definitely one of the easier courses I've taken. He also has a cool accent, which is nice.
Super easy class, super understanding
He is an amazing professor, funny and explains everything so well. You won't regret taking his class.
Ferg is one of the coolest professors at UF. He genuinely wants you to do well, and tries to make the workload easy for students. The second exam was a little challenging, but overall a doable class. Gotta love Ferg though.
He rocks, take the class it's easy.
Fergus's lectures are laid back and informative- just be sure to actually study for the two exams and you will do fine. The first exam takes a lot of people by surprise.
Cool guy who cares about the class, gives weekly quizzes that you have unlimited attempts to get a 100% on. Exams are straight from lecture powerpoints and big group project at the end that counts for majority of grade.
Ferg is absolutely awesome, super chill, class content is interesting but not hard. Highly recommend taking this class, a nice class to round out a schedule
He is great! gotta love this man! recommend *100 accomplishes physical science credit
Excellent speaker, truly conveys the material of the course through lecture and presentations.
He's the best
really great professor. if you do your work, you won't have a problem in the class
Super interesting and funny, but make sure to study for the exams.
Interesting class!!! Not too hard you take weekly quizzes on the lectures and have 2 exams then a large group project at the end.
good class. throws in political hints sometimes though
Ferg is a really great professor. Even though the lectures can be quite difficult to understand, he explains them in a clearer manner, in which anyone can understand. He cares about his students being successful not only in this class, but throughout college.
great, caring teacher. There was an instance where I slipped up and submitted an assignment past the due date by accident that was worth some heavy points. With proper explanation he forgave me and gave me full credit.
He's great! A great class to get your credit without too much stress!!!
Easy class. He's a really cool guy who knows what he's talking about. He tells you exactly what you need to know for the two midterms. Most of the grade is a group project at the end
Excellent teacher. Highly recommend this class to anyone that needs a science credit.
This is a great class to take if you need to satisfy a science requirement and Ferg makes the content really easy to understand. It is a really interesting class, I definitely recommend it! There's two midterms (both are worth 15% of the grade, so not much) and a group project. Weekly quizzes with unlimited attempts.
I took this class for an easy physical science credit and I was not disappointed. He is an amazing professor that works very well with his students.
Ferg is a great teacher, and this class has a pretty simple straightforward. Be sure to go to class because sometimes attendance is taken and it's the easiest way to prepare for tests. Tests are harder than you think, so be sure to study the slides thoroughly and be sure to really understand the concepts!
Hes amazing, just take the class. Also, show up to class. There's a paper at the end and that's about it but its a group project with a poster.
Great class for an easy physical science credit, Ferg makes the class really bearable and the assignments aren't too hard. Definitely would recommend!
Great guy
Cool Professor and Cool Class. 10/10.
Great professor really recommend him
Great professor! Genuinely cares about your success in the class!
Ferg is very active in the class and keeps everyone engaged. The class is actually interesting, in the way he teaches it. Would definitely recommend this class to anyone!
Great class, learned a lot. Midterms were tougher than expected but it is possible to receive an A in the class.
Ferg is a great teacher who makes every lecture interesting. The class is fairly simple as long as you pay attention and come to class. Definitely would recommend!
Really nice guy, approachable, respectful of students. Lecture oriented class, exams are kind of hard but he does a review period the class before. Requires a final group project, a fair amount of work but manageable.
Very clear about what he's looking for, and genuinely wants all his students to get good grades.
Professor Keatinge is a great teacher and truly cares about his students. He's quick with his lectures and doesn't waste any time during class.
He's a great teacher and his class isn't hard if you do all the work he assigns which are all easily done without much stress.
Really cool guy, willing to work with you to help you learn and do well>
Moves through the lectures very quickly, but posts the powerpoints online a week before every exam. Good teacher, explains the material well. Make sure you study the powerpoints before every exam. Some of the concepts are challenging but nothing too difficult.
There are 12 quizzes and they are all online so you can take them as many times as you want in order to pass them. Only 2 mid-terms and they were easy as long as you take notes and show up for the review sessions before the exams. No final exam, just a fairly simple group project. Overall great class and professor.
10/10 Easy class, all you gotta do is show up & collect that credit
Start of the class is manly lectured based and he does a good job of going over and explaining whats on the power point and letting you know what you must know for the test, may or may not put up the lectures. The end of the class is a large group project, you are given ample time to complete the project and he has a class session to help.
Interesting class and good lectures. The midterms can be harder than you would expect. Most of the grade is based on a group project at the end.
Only problem is that the questions on the test get a little confusing if you attempt to rush through them. There can be similar questions with minute details changed. Be aware of terminology and he is very good at making sure you have the material to study.
Good for gen-ed credit! Not a science person so the info wasn't always interesting to me but in general is an easy A weekly quizzes with unlimited attempts, an article review, 2 easy exams, and a group project. His lectures are a bit fast but powerpoints are posted before each exam to look over. Fergus is great and always willing to help!!
Ferg is an awesome teacher. Unlimited attempt quizzes and if you spend a little time studying for the first exam and a little more for the second exam. A large portion of the grade is on the group project which seems pretty easy. Definitely would take the class again.
His lectures our very enjoyable and makes it easy and straight forward to understand. I enjoyed studying extreme weather. He's awesome!
Biggest issue is that he can be a bit fast when it comes to lectures, making it hard to take notes. Though that may be due to the course material being pretty heavy. If you pay attention in class and just look over the notes at home, you will do well.
Ferg is a great professor who finds a way to make participation grades enjoyable, he has a ripping sense of humor, and he always responds to emails within minutes. He lets you know exactly what he expects from his students, which is fantastic.
A cool dude
The class is fairly easy. All you have to do is show up and take notes. There is no textbook and he will eventually upload the powerpoints from lecture.
Great teacher.
Easy class
Great personality and teacher. Content on exams should more closely match what is taught in class though
The GOAT
One of the best professors I've ever had
awesome guy
Easy course, pretty much gives everyone an A
He makes lame jokes sometimes (a lot), but he's a good professor. I hate group projects in college, but whatever. Easy class if you study and somewhat pay attention in lectures.
Great Professor, easy homework points, only have to come to class a few times
Ferg is a gem. His class is ridiculously easy and you'll have fun taking it.
Best teacher ever. Hands down!
Interesting and easy class
Fergus is one of the best teachers at UF. He teaches exactly whats on the exams (2 for entire semester) however there is a group project that evens out the score. A quiz every week that is not difficult at all.
He's really funny and he makes his lectures interesting. I will miss him a lot. :-(
Ferg is one of the best teachers at the University. He gave interesting lectures and going to his class was genuinely enjoyable.
Fun and easy class.
Amazing prof!
Great guy and entertaining lectures
Ferg really cares about his students and wants everyone to pass. He's enthusiastic, caring, and a great teacher.
Interesting class that answers questions about climate. Class is fun and is not a chore to attend.
Dr. Fergus is a great professor! The class content was interesting and he always made the lectures go fast so we could leave early. Attendance is taken only a few times throughout the year but definitely is worth going to so you can hear his stories.
Take this class noooo matter what! I needed a physical science credit for my major and extreme weather has nothing to do with what I'm studying but its my fav class this semester. Ferg is the most chill professor I've ever had but also knows what he's teaching by the back of his hand.
AMAZING PROFESSOR.. IF YOU SHOW UP YOU WILL DO WELL. HAD TO TAKE THIS CLASS FOR A PHYSICAL SCIENCE CREDIT AND I HEARD IT WAS BETTER IN CLASS WITH DR FERG AND THEY WERE SO RIGHT. ONLINE IS BUSY WORK AND IN CLASS IS ENGAGING AND SUPER INTERESTING. IF HE CAN TELL YOU PUT IN THE WORK AND CARE ABOUT YOUR GRADES YOU WILL GET AN A!
Great class, great teacher!
Absolutely hilarious and engaging in lecture. Moves quick through content but tries to make sure everyone understands it. Show up and do the quizzes and group project and you'll pass easy.
Good teacher
Professor Fergus is a shining star in a galaxy of bleak and boring professors.
Super easy class with fun lectures
Total dog, great teacher, very fun, enjoyable lectures. Take this class.
Great lecturer, tests are very conceptual. Study to understand the material, not just memorization.
Told us on the first day that almost everyone gets an A. Just do the projects and you'll do great.
Great professor. Would definitely take again.
2nd test was surprisingly hard. Comparatively, there aren't many other physical science classes that are as easy as this one. Easy A for the most part.
Great teacher and great class
There is a group project that is the majority of the grade, so work hard on that. Dr. Keatinge is a great professor.
Ferg is the man. Barely any homework, and the only real work are the article review and group project. He's a super cool dude and I loved him.
Great personality and is quick with responding to questions outside of class.
Fairly easy. Great professor. Exams were difficult but manageable.
Very easy class who cares about trying to make his content interesting and keep people involved by including humor and asking the class to discuss.
Great professor and fairly easy and interesting class! Take this class!
Fergus was easily one of my favorite teachers I have ever had. Due to his young age, he can easily relate to his students. Lots of fun and great person.
One of the best professors at UF. Even if you don't like science or weather and are taking this as a required credit (as I did), you will enjoy this class. He makes a somewhat dull subject exciting, and he is hilarious as well. Super easy to get an A; classes aren't necessarily required, but you should go anyway. He has a great accent as well :)
Ferg is literally the coolest professor I have ever had. Even though the midterms and finals can be somewhat difficult, the final project and a simple article review totally make up for it/your grade. His lectures are interesting and he is so funny that you really don't ever mind going to class. Also, he is really easy to talk to/understanding!
Professor Keatinge is an all-around amazing teacher. His style of teaching is very clear and quick, but the student can still manage to follow along and do well! I would highly recommend him to any major.
He was an okay professor. Too lax in my opinion.
Took GEO2242 Extreme Weather Spring 2018. Prof is very reasonable and cares a lot about his students. Class doesn't require a textbook. Exams are worth only 15% of the final grade, with a simple group project making up the bulk. Certain classes are mandatory, but he's funny so just show up anyway, pay basic attention, and you'll get an A.
As long as you keep up with the work assigned you will pass. Mr. Ferg is extremely understanding and genuinely wants his student to do well.
Best professor
Sweet and amazing teacher. He gives a lot of great life information outside of the subject. He knows the topic can be boring and not apply to most majors, he makes the lectures fun and not terrible to listen too. He got his PHD while teaching my class, and I know he is gong to get a great job. As a senior I still found his lessons very valuable.
As I business major, I took this class simply to fulfill the university's physical science requirements. However, after the first class, I realized that Dr. Keatinge would make the subject interesting, applicable, and entertaining. I was excited to go to class every week. DEF take the class, not too difficult.
This a great class to get a general over view of weather processes. It is not difficult-just show up, listen and ask questions. Don't fall behind because the material builds. Exams aren't too bad but you should definitely study and take it seriously. Keatinge is a great lecturer, very entertaining. There is a group paper at the end-a bit random.
One of the best professors at the University of Florida. He makes learning and sitting through lectures enjoyable. Very understandable and lenient.
Ferg is such a genuinely nice person, and really funny as well. He does take the time to make his powerpoints interesting and engaging but also does not put too much vocabulary that we won't understand. Overall really great professor and great class. He cares about us making connections instead of tests, so midterms don't matter too much.
Ferg makes this class bearable. His exams aren't the easiest but they also don't hold much weight and he grades everything else very lenient. He's a cool guy and lectures really aren't bad.
This class is very interesting. Ferg is a great professor, he keeps the lectures lively and fun. Midterms are a little difficult but don't count for too much. I would definitely recommend this class.
Class is not difficult. I barely listened to the lectures. Exams aren't the easiest but there are many opportunities to bump your grade up. A is nearly guaranteed. If you're into this kind of stuff though, you will actually learn a lot. You basically get out of it what you put in, but you'll get an A either way. Also he's firkin adorable.
Ferg is a great prof. He really cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. The exams are a little more difficult, but the majority of your grade comes from the final group project so don't worry if you don't do well. Overall, he made a boring gen ed class bearable and fun!
Literally an incredible, chill, and super interesting professor. Ferg is super understanding and funny. His midterm and final are somewhat difficult, but the final project and simple article review make up for it!!
He's a great professor! His lectures are awesome and incredibly interactive. It's very hard to be bored in his class. Ferg is super relatable and nice, he's very understanding of student situations and believes in personal responsibility. I would 100% recommend taking a class with him, even if you don't need it.
Enjoyed this class very much,
Ferg is extremely funny and engaging. He knows everything there is to know about Extreme Weather, so this is a great course to take if you're looking for an easy A that satisfies a science gen ed. He only takes attendance five times in the semester, and he lectures are online. There is one group project at the end of the semester. Great class!
Ferg is sooo chill. He is very passionate about what he's teaching and he makes it fun to sit in lectures. Study for the Midterms, go to class, and do the group project at the end of the semester because it is literally your final!
Awesome professor! Very real and very honest. It's hard to find a professor that actually cares about the individual well-being of his students, but Ferg does! He gives all of the information you need in class on the power points and then posts the power-points online.
I took this class for a physical science gen ed requirement. It was more difficult than I was expecting, but if you work hard it's extremely doable. Ferg moves through lectures pretty fast, but they're all available online with his notes attached. Study these for the exams, which shouldn't be too bad if you study. Lots of quizzes for grade padding.
Amazing guy and a great teacher. He actually cares about you as a person. The class is easy. No textbook needed. Only powerpoints. Just review the powerpoints before the exam and you'll be fine. Honestly one of the easiest classes. Putting in minimal effort will get you an A, and you can put in no effort at all and still pass.
Ferg is a great professor. His lectures are concise and gives everything you need for exams during the lectures. Be sure to keep up with weekly quizzes. He's very relatable and makes learning fun. He's very willing to work with students if problems come up and makes you feel valued as a student.
He is a cool guy. May not have learned as much in-depth content as I'd hoped, but this class is an easy A and always a laid back atmosphere. Would recommend the course if you have a difficult course load and need some easy credits.
Ferg is one of the most relatable professors I have ever had. He is specific in class and although he goes somewhat fast in his lectures, he is thorough and there is no trouble getting the information online. Very funny and straightforward. His teaching was refreshing and I wish I could have him again in the future.
This is the best professor you will ever get in your life. He cares about his students and their success in his class and other classes. He is very funny so all his classes are fun. He is approachable and understanding of whatever situation you are going through. Course work is manageable and mid terms are multiple choice (fairly easy).
Young professor but incredibly funny and tries hard to make this course easy, even for non-STEM students. Two midterms, one group project, and one paper - all are very easy to study for and he really gives you the tools to pass. One of the best professors at UF, and if you have the ability to take a class with him, please DO.
Ferg is the best professor I have taken at UF so far. He is hilarious and grades by his rubrics-- if you do what he says, you will get full points. Science is not my strong suit, yet I found that his lectures are very clear. If you show up to class and take good notes, you will end up with a great grade.
The class is very informing as extreme weather events happen every year. The lectures are material heavy but useful for the exams and basic knowledge.
Is extremely knowledgeable about his field and makes the class extremely enjoyable!
Amazing class! Makes it simple as much as he can for students. Very understanding. Tons of info in presentations. More points on group projects than exams. Really wants students to understand. Emphasizes key points.
Good professor, very approachable and understanding. Nice guy.
Ferg is one of the most relatable professors I have ever had. He is specific in class and although he goes somewhat fast in his lectures, he is thorough and there is no trouble getting the information online. Very funny and straightforward. His teaching was refreshing and I wish I could have him again in the future. I wish him well in the future.
He is an awesome professor! Genuinely cares about your education and makes his topic fun to learn about. Tests are average difficulty, but everything else is straight forward.
Ferg was a super cool professor to have. I took this class to satisfy my science credit and I'm glad I chose this. He has an english accent so everything he says sounds 100x more interesting and you can tell he genuinely cares about his students and that they pass. And he's cute so even if you don't listen in lecture, you at least have eye candy.
Ferg is just the best professor I've had in my entire life and UF is losing a gem in him. Professional. Inspirational. Amazing
He is a really kind guy who is truly looking out in the best interests of his students. It is easy to do well in his class as long as you participate in the group project and a few other assignments, the weekly quizzes, and go to lecture to take notes for the exams. Not much outside homework or studying is necessary.
Great professor that actually understands and care about the students. He doesn't even require a costly textbook. Minimal assignments with two midterms and one final group project. Good science course to take for nonmajors. Would definitely take him again!!
One of the best and most caring professors that I have had while here at UF. Genuinely wants all of his students to pass and willing to help anyone struggling with the lecture material. He speaks a little fast and goes through the lectures a bit quickly, but he posts them all to Canvas before each midterm; there are two total, not hard if you study
Fergus is sooo perfect a professor, and you won't want to miss him.
While he tends to go through the lectures a little faster than I might like, Fergus is willing to reexplain anything you ask him to. He really cares about his students and wants them all to succeed, which is evident in his teaching.
The best teacher at UF by far. Brilliant, hilarious, and always willing to help out his students no matter what. This man deserves an award for how awesome he is as a human being and an educator
Fergus knows what hes teaching and hes very enthusiastic about it! He really does his best to help the students get an A in the class. There were 2 exams, which weret too bad, you just need to study. There were also quizzes due every Sunday but those were super easy, so make sure to do those! And then their is a final group project as well.
Best professor I've ever had. His lectures are never boring, and he keeps the class entertained with his humor. I learned a lot from this class, and I am happy to have had him as my professor.
