Easiest spanish teacher at UGA...very fair, i enjoyed his class!

Great teacher, I had him for both 2001 and 2002 spanish. Makes the class very easy and keeps it interesting. A very helpful nice guy, definitly take him if you can.

Very nice guy! Always happy. Not always completely prepared, but keeps your attention. At first, his Spanish seems to be very fast and not loud enough. You'll get used to it, though. Easy tests. You don't even have to take notes or read the book. Just show up to class. 2 tests, 2 presentations, 1 interview, a final. Take him if you can!

He's a cool teacher, very nice and grades fairly: not too easy or too hard. He is also helpful and I recommend him. Only thing I had a problem with was he spoke too fast in spanish so sometimes you could not answer questions cuz you missed some of what was said.

He's great! really nice, and understanding, he'll let you turn stuff in late (just don't take advantage of it.) He's really leniant and i would definitely recommend him!

His class was easy, but enjoyable. He was the first native Spanish-speaker I ever had as a teacher, and I think my listening comprehension improved a lot as a result. Also: how is it POSSIBLE that no one else has given this man a chili pepper yet?

This class was pretty easy. Not much harder than Spanish classes I took in high school. He is very relaxed and funny, but you will still learn a good bit. Also, he is a native speaker so he has a good accent. Definitely recommend him!

Fernan was a really nice guy. He took over our SPAN 1110 class late in the semester after our teacher got fired or quit. Being in a lower level class it was hard to really understand him and he ALWAYS spoke in spanish. He was good at explaining things though and made things clear and easy to understand. I would suggest taking him if you can.

He is the nicest teacher ever! He really wants his students to do well and he gives a study guide before each test! Definitley take him! He's awesome!

Fernan was the best teacher ever. His was the only class I looked forward to every single day. He encouraged class discussion, even if it was sometimes off topic. He is the only teacher I've had to ever engage the class on a personal level. He also has a great sense of humor and kicks ass at guitar.

Fernan is the man. His class was very easy. I learned spanish other than by reading a text book. He is very willing to help you out however he can. The only bad part about his class is that you can only miss like 4 days before it affects your attendance grade. If you are taking span2001, take Fernan.

It was a fun class, but disappointing when you really want to learn Spanish. It was very easy, I don't think a single person in my class got below an A+. Fernan is a really nice, cool, really laid back guy, but you probably won't learn much in his class

I have taken 4 Spanish classes at UGA and did well in all of them (A- was my lowest grade), but this professor is by far the best one I had. He was always prepared for class and was always crystal clear. Unlike my other Spanish professors, it was obvious that he actually CARES about the students he teaches! He is simply better than everyone else!

TAKE THIS CLASS! This man is the best. He is so helpful and approachable, and he will always give you the benefit of the doubt. I took it during the summer and had to miss 3 or 4 class days when we had major things do (including the final- I slept in) and he let me make it up. He has your best interest in mind. take his class.

He was a great teacher! He is very friendly and willing to go the extra mile to help you. He puts tons of practice onto ELC to help you grasp various grammatical concepts, and he grades fairly and quickly. I'd recommend him to anyone!

Very nice guy. Takes role and checks for participation (answer at least one question in class). Pretty chill otherwise. Gives study guides for the tests, which have multiple choice and matching components so they're pretty easy. No accent problems.

The nicest guy ever. Totally willing to help all of his students, and he'll nudge you along if you need help. Attendance is mandatory, but he doesn't care at all about tardiness as long as you show up and participate.

Sweetest and most easy-going professor. Going to class is mandatory but easy to sit through. Lectures are very easy and he loves participation. There are several tests/ quizzes that are very short and simple. Just 1 one online essay that's very easy. 2 easy oral exams. He will work with you and email back. No group work. Some in class conversations

I don't think I've ever seen him frown before. He is very happy person and always willing to work with you. His upbeat attitude makes his mandatory lectures easy to sit through and despite being a native Spanish speaker, he speaks slowly and clearly. Best spanish teacher I have ever had.

This is the best professor I have ever had in college. Do whatever you have to do to TAKE HIS CLASS! He is caring, kind, and will work with you when you are putting your best foot forward. I wish I could take him for every Spanish class in the future. 100% highly recommend taking his section of the course you need to take.

Great teacher, so obvious that he cares about the student's learning. Grades so easily on the audio parts, just give a solid effort and you'll get an A. Quizzes are straightforward as well, and the final is super easy.

Wonderful prof. He's very caring & willing to work with you to get a good grade. If you do your hw on connect along with his assignments, then you should be fine. 2002 is heavy with conjugations but his study guides help a lot. 10/10 would take him again.

Fernan is so chill. Easy grader, teaches off his computer. Maybe not the best teacher if you actually need to learn but if you learned it in hs and this is more of a review class for you, he is perfect. He let us out 10 min early everyday and gave us opportunities to turn things in late. The SPAN department rule is no more than 3 absenses.

Fernan is probably the kindest professor at UGA. He is very open and always encourages you to speak Spanish. He repeats almost everything he says in English so no one is confused. His tests were very easy, if you study and pay attention in class. He is soooo chill and makes himself readily available for help after class/outside of class.

He is the most caring professor ever. He is so understanding, and he really prepares you for everything really well. I wish I could take him again.

Hes so sweet and chill. As long as you try, youll do fine. Cultural Assessments are easy. Quizzes are easy. Oral is easy. Not a hard grader at all. I wish I could take him again.

He is my favorite professor at UGA. He really cares about the success of the students and making sure that they understand everything. He goes out of his way to make sure that everyone is doing well. His class is super easy, and you learn a lot.

He's a great guy and really nice but class is really boring more often than not. He grades leniently and gives study guides that are really helpful for quizzes and exams. The quizzes are pretty easy but the midterm and final are challenging because they are made by the department. Overall, I recommend him.

He is a great guy! Usually his lectures will bore you to death, but he provides ample study materials to ace all his quizzes and cultural assessments. If you forgot to do a homework or skipped a day of a quiz, he usually will let you make it up without penalty. I recommend taking him, even though you don't really learn that much in class.

Dr. Fernan was very easy and very caring for your grade. He wants you to learn and easily grades in that way. If you plan to take any Spanish, I highly recommend him. He is the best.

Honestly a gem in the Spanish department. Very nice and funny. He is also lenient while grading quizzes and tests. Department sets all of the homework (online Connect) and deadlines up, so the material is standard through all the classes. However, he is definitely one of your best bets to complete the foreign language requirement. Love him!

Hands down the best Spanish professor at UGA, it is the typical UGA Spanish class (annoying connect, strict attendance, dumb department), he is the GOAT though. He makes an unbearable class easy and doable. I suck at Spanish, I am in 2002 rn and hate it, he spoiled me, other UGA Spanish professors are whack, pick him and only him, you will love him

Such a good professor! Very kind and patient with students and encourages you to learn. There are quizzes and oral presentations, but he gives you very clear instructions and they are not difficult if you prepare. The class could have been a lot harder with a different professor.

Professor Cerron is a great professor and person. He lectures in class and requires some participation, but is very relaxed. There is some homework, quizzes, and discussions but the overall workload is manageable. Take him if you get the opportunity!

My favorite Spanish professor to date. He was super friendly and if you ever had any trouble you could always talk to him to come up with a solution. Great guy.

THE BEST! He is such a kind person and cares for each one of his students. There is a lot of homework but it is manageable for sure. Oral exams are a little more difficult but he gives very clear instructions. Participation grade is easy as long as you answer a couple of questions every class. Going to class helped me a lot. Highly recommend!!! :)

Honestly one of the easiest professors and great person all around. definitely was helpful through out the class and clearly was able to answer any questions you may have had throughout the course.

Literally the sweetest professor I've ever had. He responds quickly to emails and even pushes back dates if you ask him to. He is very lax about grading and is easily impressed. Please take him if you can!

Prof. Cerron-Palomino is probably the nicest man you will ever meet. Besides being kind, he will answer any question you have and tries his best to make lectures enjoyable and informative. Do your homework and participate in the class and you are all but guaranteed at least an A-.

Such a nice guy. He relys on Connect which is fine because it is very organized and you know when your work is due. He is very caring and will help you so dont be afraid to reach out to him.

Sweetest professor ever and an extremely easy class. Just make sure to participate. His class is taught fully in spanish, but he will clarify things in English if needed. He is super laid back. He tries to follow the calendar, but often pushed things back. Things can be a bit confusing as there is no structure at times, but email him to ask.

I took this class online during this summer, which I would not recommend. There is A LOT of work because it is a lot of content fit in a short period of time. But, he is very clear on instructions, responds to emails, and gives you plenty of material to study with and be successful in this course.

This professor is very kind and caring. He is a fairly easy grader and all of the homework is done online. He sometimes does the homework in class. There is a group project in the class, which he gives you time in class to work on. Overall, he is a good professor and I would take his class again.

He is such a caring soul! He is very willing to help with any matter, whether that is pushing up/back assignments, clarification, or just questions in general. He is an easy grader and is impressed relatively easy. He will not go out of his way to make sure you participate though, so you have to be in charge of that. Highly recommend.

He singlehandedly carries the UGA Spanish Department - truly such a caring professor. He makes sure to learn each student's name and helps everyone out with their work. Very forgiving with grades and helps out students with parts of the Spanish curriculum which are especially tough. Best professor ever 10000000% recommend.

Mr. Cerron-Palomino is a great teacher. He does a great job explaining content and tries to make it as easy as possible for all of us regarding tests and quizzes. He is also pretty lenient when it comes to attendance and participation. I highly recommend taking Spanish with him.

This professor is very nice and understanding. He is an extremely easy grader and it is very easy to learn the content of this class. While attendance is taken, participation points are very easy to get. Definitely a great professor to have.

Was very understanding but attendance & participation really matters. Had abt 3-4 quizzes & an essay, a midterm & final. What a sweetheart. He's genuinely so kind. Pretty lenient with grading and really cares about his students. He wants you to improve and not worry so much about the grammar or accuracy, and he doesn't make you feel bad if you make mistakes, just repeats what you say but with accuracy. Very little pressure and very encouraging.

Professor Palomino is awesome! I learned a lot of spanish and had a lot of fun during class. There is a bit of homework every week but not difficult. There are a lot of quizzes but he grades super easy. Definitely take him if you need a foreign language class!

Fernan deserves a raise. This was, by far, one of the most warm and welcoming Spanish classes I've ever had. Even though Spanish can be hard for some, he always made sure to take time to get everyone up to speed with the material. UGA is lucky to have him. The material is easy as long as you pay attention in class and do hw (yeah SPAN2001 material)

Fernan is so sweet! The class is very conversation based, so be prepared to speak. Very generous grader as well! Overall, would 100% recommend him for both 2002 and 3010.

Fernan was an amazing professor! I enjoyed each day learning from him and he makes the classroom environment very understanding and helpful. The structure of the course is the same across all professors but he does a great job at making it easy to understand.

He is the BEST!! Although the curriculum is the same across professors, he is so nice and makes things easier to understand. He lets you know exactly what is on the quizzes. He also is a VERY easy grader. Definitely the best teacher I have had in the Spanish department by FAR.

Professor Cerron-Palomino is extremely caring and his class was easy as long as you put in a little effort to learn the content. The class is mostly discussion in spanish with your classmates and powerpoints. He nonjudgementally guides students to the right answer even if they're wrong. He isn't the most tech-savvy but his powerpoints worked.

I loved Fernan. As long as you answer a few questions throughout the semester, he will give you participation credit. He really wasn't trying to trick you on the tests, and would try to help as much as possible. He was super understanding and lenient on the grading.

Fernan was absolutely wonderful! I cannot recommend him enough. He was so kind and caring for his students and made sure the course concepts made sense. SPAN 2001 is largely a review course, but he made sure that everyone was up to pace and prepared for class. He is very accessible outside of class. I could not recommend him enough.

Professor Cerrón if an incredible professor. He is super knowledgeable as well as caring and passionate about his students and their success. If you get the chance to take him I HIGHLY recommend him. You will not regret it. My favorite professor by far at UGA!

Fernan is the absolute best! He does not cold call which relieved stress for many. As long as you attend most classes and actively listen/raise your hand to participate a few times, you will receive a good participation grade which is 15% of your overall grade. I could truly not recommend a professor more.

Professor Palomino is the best! SPAN 2001 really isn't that hard but he is very encouraging and makes it so much easier. You need to come to class for attendance, but there are so many elements to your grade that it is easy. Highly recommend!

Truly the best Spanish professor you could imagine!

Such a sweet professor! He didn't post things on eLC a lot, so if you need notes I recommend paying attention in class to get them. He gave a lot of practice for grammar concepts and gave a lot of class time to do homework. He also gave extra credit points for the midterm/final for participation.

Lovely, lovely teacher who cares for students beyond just what happens in the classroom. I hadn't taken any UGA Spanish courses before this one, but I did not feel behind at all. I cannot recommend him enough!

This man is the sweetest person I think I've ever met. He's always ecstatic to help others, is incredibly kind, and always does his best to ensure you get a good grade. I genuinely look forward to seeing him around campus. PLEASE take him if you want an easy A and someone to enjoy seeing in class.
