Great professor!! Definately try to take him if you can. He is very helpful and is very clear when he teaches.
he's a great teacher. very helpful after class and is very clear in his teaching style. i would highly recommend him to everyone.
Ojeda is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He makes learning spanish fun.
Anyone looking for a clear concise learning expirence go to Ojeda he is a great teacher.
I would recommend Professor Ojeda any day for Spanish class. He makes learning interesting, and at the same time, a great dresser and easy on the eyes.
Challenging professor but very helpful and really seems to want his students to succeed. Be willing to participate in class and stick with it. Nice guy.
Tough, but if you want to learn the language not just go for a grade, take HIS class!!! Reason for 4 on clarity is he does not explain away words in english, but you LEARN.
great teacher, jokes in class, but gets work done. laid back style, just dont be late
If you want to learn spanish, this is the guy! He's the best. Very understanding, helpful and doesn't make you feel stupid when you're incorrect. Definitely one of the best teachers I've every had. GO GATORS! WHOO HOO!
Very good teacher. Class is very challenging and demanding of your time, but learning a new language takes a lot of time. I learned a lot abd did well. The book was very difficult, but he switched to a more student friendly book. Tests aren't bad.
Good teacher
Best teacher I've ever had in any subject. If you really want to learn Spanish, look no farther than Ojeda.
great teacher...makes spanish fun to learn. upfront about everything and lets you know what to do from day one. but attendence required every class day!!!!! he doesn't like students missing class at all.
I have never laughed so much while learning!
He is a great teach and knows how to make class fun. The work he assigns is challenging and there is a lot of it. The test are pretty hard also. He's real understanding of his students and is always willing to help them out. He can also be pretty funny and get the class to laugh. He's a real nice guy to.

Don't take anyone else for Spanish!!!!
He is a wonderful instructor. He has made spanish a very interesting language to learn and even includes cultural points in each lesson. He expects a lot out of you but if you put in the work you are well rewarded with good grades. A great experience over all.
I loved his class and I loved him. Spanish came easy to me but on the parts I was unsure of he was pretty helpful. His way of teaching spanish was a little different then what I was used to but I got the hang of it very quickly. He's very friendly and has a good time in class. Loved the class!
Great teacher!! His classes are actually fun and educational. I recommend participating in the study abroad program with him as well!!!
Ojeda has good qualities. He's bubbly, fun, sarcastic and funny. But he's also very flirtatious and he pushes the line when communicating/teaching female students that he finds attractive. He is biased towards calling on them in class, helping them outside of class, and even allowing them in his advanced classes in my opinion.
He is funny, clear, easy and very helpful. His tests are a piece of cake. I would definitely recommend him for Spanish. He can be a little bit flirtacious with hot girls, although if that doesn't bug you, he is an excellent teacher!
This class was hard, but also very fun. Ojeda was a great teacher and I defenitly learned alot in his class. Attendence and participation is very important in class. He will help you if you ask. The class was alot of fun and I learned alot.
He is the worst teacher I have ever had. He flirts with girls who are attractive and I feel that is un-professional especially since he is married with children. It is easier for students to learn spanish if they already know a second language;he goes their pace and not the pace of the majority.I would not recommend him. Wait and take it at USF.

Awesome Spanish Instructor!
Dr. Ojeda is an awesome instructor. He is available for questions and encourages class participation without intimidation. You will leave his class understanding the Spanish language.
This is a great instructor who is willing to help you understand the subject. It is easier if you have taken a spanish class in high school because his class is very fast paced. Tests are hard, but if you study you'll do fine. I recommend taking him.
He is a wonderful teacher. The first hour of Spanish 1 is taught completely in Spanish which makes it clear that you're going to understand and use Spanish in his class not just find the right answer on a test. He's always happy to answer any question and has fun with the class and his students. If you put in effort he'll make sure you understand.
EXCELLENT teacher. I've never taken spanish and Ojeda was my first teacher. He was intimidating, at first, because he speaks to you in spanish on the first day BUT he makes you practice the language which is so much better. GREAT teacher
Highly advise taking the online class!!! It is a new user FRIENDLY program that you can accomplish from home with no problem. 0 pressure in the online course currently. They have made it too easy online. Please keep these posts current incase someone changes the online curriculum. It is very important to keep this up-to-date.
He is an amazing teacher! He makes Spanish clear and helps you speak it and understand it clearly. The class is challenging but you learn a lot within the one semester. The only problem is that he instantly chooses favorites based on gender and looks. So those students are always called on first and given primary attention. He is awesome overall!
Class is a lot of fun. You actually don't want to miss.
This is such a fun class. He is a great teacher. My dad had him 20 years ago, and he still remembers him, he is very nice and extremly willing to help you get an A.
Professor Ojeda is one of the best instructors I've had, hands down! His flirting and so-called 'favoratism' towards 'hot chicks' is completely UNTRUE!!!! He is true to his culture which is somewhat flirtatious but he never crosses the line. His explanations of the complex gramatical structures are unbelievably clear and I highly recommend him to e
I took Prof. Ojeda from level 1 to level 4, o intermedio dos. My grade each higher level class dropped, but part of the reasons for that was personal and circumstantial. This class is fun and he is a worthy teacher, grading students better (objectively) for their participation. Come to class and do your homework, speak up and you will be fine.
A very fun class! It is also very easy if you take the time to study.
Knowledgeable about the language. Has numerous additional cultural information.
Rude and thoughtless teacher. Actually tries to embarrass his students who are PAYING to learn a language.
although he is a very funny guy and personally I like him, I do not like him as a teacher he assigns the homework before he teaches the leason and it makes it difficult if not impossible to do the homework. If I had wanted to teach myself I would have taken this class online.
Dr. Ojeda is a fun teacher. First day of class is a bit intimidating, but he is very engaging. He likes to pick on people if they're not in class. He has had some inappropriate moments in class, but other than that, he is great teacher. Don't be fooled by the material at first. Sooner or later, it will take off. Overall, he's of my favorite profs.
Fernando Ojeda is the worst teacher in the world. I had to drop out of Spanish because of him and had to take Spanish at a different school and now I speak it fluently. He has no business teaching he is ruthless and evil. And his Spanish is pathetic. Fernando Ojeda's doesn't even speak Spanish fluently that's why nobody at SPC learns Spanish.
Learning any new language is hard. Gives extra credit opportunities on ever test... Pads grades for good attendance and participation. Nice, tries to make class fun and interesting. ...Plus he's totally hot. haha
I took a class that met 4 days a week thinking that would be the easiest way to learn via submersion and smaller chunks constantly. The professor had us USING 3 books for DAILY assignments in EVERY BOOK. The workload was INSANE for a ELEMENTARY Spanish I course. 3/4th of the class withdrew those that stayed had a very difficult time.
I've had him for both Spanish 1 and 2. He is a very good teacher. The homework is optional. He gives extra credit on every test. He keeps class entertaining and the best part is there is no final exam- it's just a skit/video project.
He's a great professor and very entertaining! Just make sure you attend class, and even though the homework isn't required; DO IT. You also have an extra credit opportunity on every test
The person calling Ojeda "evil and ruthless" clearly must not know how to work at a college level of instruction. It's a language, obviously it'll be somewhat difficult. This is the best language instructor I've EVER had. Easy A's if you attend and pay attention. He's also hilarious and easy to talk to for help. Best prof of SPC.
Many years ago, I had Prof. Ojeda for all SPN classes offered by SPC, formerly St. Pete J.C. Prof. Ojeda was the BEST instructor that I ever had. He had a true interest in assisting students to learn the language. We traveled to Quito Ecuador for 2 study abroad trips and to date, it was the most incredible experience that I have ever had. THX!
Awesome teacher! His class is fun and very interactive. He gives opportunities for extra credit on every exam.
This is a very in debth course, it is difficult with a heavy work-load. Don't expect to get an A unless you have had some spanish prior. Half the class drops and even the honor students can hardly keep up. Other than that he's a good teacher and you'll learn a lot.
Wonderful professor! Dr Ojeda cares about his students. Any time I was struggling with Spanish I he was willing to help
Awesome teacher. Makes a terrible subject bearable and even awesome at times.
Great professor- he really wants his students to do well. He is very willing to work with you and offers many opportunities for extra credit throughout the semester. Show up and participate in class and you will do ok, put the practice time in in your free time and you will do very well. He's great at teaching the material.
Great teacher, very interesting, I just hate the subject. I would recommend the teacher.
he is awesome
Easy if you have prior education in spanish! He makes the long class enjoyable and go by quickly. The person saying "he doesn't speak spanish fluently" is uhh WRONG, the man is a fluent spanish speaking hispanic. If you have no prior education in spanish, be willing to spend a lot of time studying. Tests are short, get to use a notecard f&b.
Because of Fernando Ojeda I had to drop out of SPC and go to a private Spanish school. Fernando Ojeda is the worst teacher in the world and has no business working at SPC much less teaching.
Best professor I've ever had . he makes it easy and fun to learn. If you go to class, do the homework, and make flash cards, the class is cake. He gives more than enough extra credit opportunities and truly cares about each student. I've taken him for Spanish 1 and Spanish 2, got C's on most of my tests, and got A's in both classes. Enjoyed him!
He is seriously the BEST. teacher. I wish he taught all subjects. Not only is he willing to work with you and give you extra credit for your effort but he is also hilarious! I took spanish 1 and 2 with him and every one in my class loved him. If you try he will make sure you learn. LOVE HIM!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this professor. I highly recommend his class.
Professor Ojeda is always willing to help you better understand the spanish language and the spanish culture. He does a lot of practical applications in class between students. I am optimistic that after Spanish 2 , I will be able to travel to a Latin country and be able to understand and be understood by the natives.
Professor Ojeda is very clear in his lectures and willing to lend a hand when necessary. He even has a page set up for extra help that students can access. He encourages you to put the work in, as he does too.
Professor Ojeda is in my opinion the most knowledgeable instructor there is at any college level or campus of a foreign language. Professor Ojeda helped me learn the basics quickly and now I speak Spanish very well. He truly wants each student to achieve a level of fluency and helps with any questions. Les recomiendo a todos.A+++
I was a student of Dr. Ojeda's that took all of his classes. From taking them, I have passed Advanced Spanish courses w A's and B's. To this day, we talk regularly to discuss my progress in my current studies now. I highly recommend Dr. Ojeda to anyone interested in learning more about a language and how to use it to better their futures.
Mr. Ojeda is a awesome professor. He gave me some life changing advice the last day of class. Im quitting smoking he inspired me and help to save my life! His class is interesting and fun! He is definitely a people person! Great class!
Prof. Ojeda is fantastic!! My spanish 1 teacher was awful so I had almost no foundation, I don't think I could have passed this class without his help. His lectures are very enjoyable and he tries to use as much spanish as possible to help with understanding verbally. Tests were tough, but if you work hard you will do well.
The person that said Fernando Ojeda cannot speak spanish fluently is right. He cannot say one sentence in spanish without using english words. The ones that defend him are the ones that cannot speak the language. My advice is don't ever take Fernando Ojeda for anything. He is very inept.
I found this class to be very difficult and I also took him for Spanish one test on each chapter lots of homework which helps. The final is a group presentation. He has you interact a lot with your other classmates
This professor is awesome, encourages, but does not push, for class participation. If you really want to learn the language, do not hesitate to volunteer to read or go over homework. He will correct your accent until you get it right! He assigns the homework then gives the lecture on that lesson, be prepared to get extra help if you need it!
Pr. Ojeda was amazing. My only regret is my schedule wont allow me to take him for SPII. His tests are a bit tricky but he allows you a note card each time which leaves no excuses for not passing. Hes extremely entertaining and really infuses his classroom with a fun and energetic vibe. His culture lectures really drew me in, ill miss them a lot.
He has made my learning experience with the spanish language an amazing one. Great teacher, if you are dedicated, and put in the effort he won't let you down. He is also very down to earth, and very funny as well. Plenty of room for extra credit, use of notecards on test, and a test every 2 weeks.
I highly recommend, I went to Costa Rica to study abroad with him, and he really helped making the trip memorable. Ask and you shall receive, do your work and be interactive, and it'll make the class a blast as well as you into someone that can learn more.
I took Professor Ojeda for spanish 1& 2 and he was an awesome teacher! He is from Costa Rica and knows the culture very well. I learned a lot in his class about their culture and the language. If you don't do the homework you won't do great on the tests. Tests every 4 days. You need to know the spanish one info well for spanish 2 as its cumulative.
Professor Ojeda is a wonderful instructor. Ojeda's cultural lectures in particular are interesting. He also clearly knows a lot about the material and linguistics; I found the class easy, but I have learned Spanish in the past. However, if you do the homework surely you will do fine.
There's not enough characters to describe how great Prof. Ojeda is! His lectures are easy to understand, funny, and he brings Latin American culture lessons into them. This method works extremely well, making the lectures very memorable. Tests can be hard but in the end, he is a great professor and I am definitely taking him for Spanish II!
Professor Ojeda is awesome. He is very caring, funny, and really helps you understand Spanish. His test are really easy and he grades really fast so you can know what you got right away. He makes learning Spanish really fun and easy. I would definitely recommend him to everybody who needs a language class for their AA!
He is funny and nice but thinks your life is school. Make sure all your grades are put in the system and not just his book. There is a test every 2 weeks THEY ARE HARD. you do get to use 1 small note card front and back. Verbal parts to the test he speaks u respond u cant right wat he says either this is under 5 min, read chps everyday. study vcab
Prof. Ojeda is truly a great professor. You must work for the grade, but his teaching allows for a very fair way of learning language. He is also extremely accessible outside of class and gave me great life advice leading me to become a better student. Tests correlate to the workbook/text, and he allows one index card for notes. Attend/participate
The most amazing foreign teacher I've had, by far. Not only is he hilarious and makes lectures an absolute joy for students, but he also makes people eager to learn. He frequently mentions life examples of his, that correlate to the context of each chapter, and they are truly hilarious. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend him (ps easy A :) ).
I would not recommend. Make sure you stay on his good side or you will have to work 100x harder than you have to!
He is the worst teacher in the Universe
Second semester taking his class and he is as amazing as ever. It is clear how much he loves his job and being around students; he is always positive, his stories are hilarious and he constantly strives to make sure everyone thoroughly understands the material. He integrates various teaching methods into each class, which makes it easy to learn.
I cannot recommend Dr. Ojeda enough!! He is very passionate about linguistics and his students. His lectures are easy to follow and he appreciates when his students ask questions. There are extra credit opportunities during every test. COME TO CLASS. Do all your homework and participate in class and you will excel. Definitely my favorite professor!
Fernando Ojeda is the worst teacher I haver ever had in my life. He cannot teach at all and that is the reason why he always forces students to be in groups. Nobody learns in his class. And outside of class Fernando can't speak Spanish at all. Anytime you say anything to him in Spanish, he will answer in English. His Spanish is very poor.
Compared to Spanish I, which I took online, this class is easier and more enjoyable. He explains everything well, spends a lot of time on each section, and makes us participate. He's very, very good. I highly recommend this doctor of linguistics for his enthusiasm and his humor!
The class is fun. He is a funny teacher and wants everyone to learn. The homework is a lot. I almost never do it and still get by, by participating in class. If you have class two days a week you are allowed to miss 4 days. Which stinks for people who like to skip. consists of 4 exams and a final project. All are pretty easy if you follow along.
Ojeda is wonderful in pretty much every way. Super funny, insightful and really kind. This is the best class I have had the pleasure of attending at college so far.
Fernando Ojeda is not qualified to teach Spanish. He clearly is not proficient in the Spanish language at all. His dissertation was in English and not in Spanish. To put it bluntly, his Spanish is the pits. Don't ever waste your time and money taking him. Stay as far away from his as possible.
Great Professor. I would recommend him, however bear in mind that he does give a decent amount of work. He is also definitely a tough grader, but if you pay attention, engage in the class, and study then it's and easy A or B. If you want an easy class, don't pick him. But if you're okay with some workload, and you want a good prof. go for it.
He does not teach any grammar at all. I had to buy grammar books online in order to learn grammar. His tests consist of things he has never taught and his tests are impossible. Not sure he even writes the tests. He acts like its a Spanish club not a class. He does not teach and he makes everything impossible.
I took Prof. Ojeda for Spanish 1 and I'm very grateful I did! I feel he is very lenient when it comes to grading and he offers extra credit opportunities on each test. He does however, assign A LOT of homework which can be a little hard to manage if you're taking multiple classes. I do believe he is a solid choice tho and will be taking him again.
Professor Ojeda is a great teacher who values your education in learning the Spanish Language. He will force your participation and challenge you. He is certainly a strict grader but it is all an effort to bring out the best in you. His classes were fun and engaging. You will work hard for a good grade but it was a very satisfying experience.
Fernando Ojeda does not teach. He just puts people in groups while he does nothing. And he always forces people to do projects that make no sense and have nothing to do with the course. And he gives you hard tests on material he has never covered. And he always lies and says he went over it when he never did. Stay far away from him.
