He is by far one of the toughest professors I have ever had. There is a lot of work that is expected, but when you get your grade you know it definitely reflects what you put into the class. Thanks, Dr. Ortiz.

Research methods is a good class, though theres lots of work, the Doc is egar to help any student succeed in his class. He shows for his office hours like clockwork, I should know. We reviewed nearly every writing assingment to insure scholarly work and grading. I got an A and I'd take him again.

Although research methods is a very cut and dry class, Dr. Ortiz makes it more interesting. He's an awesome teacher. I think he's one of the few teachers left that actully care.

I took his class in summer and love it. You have attend class to take down his lecture notes b/c his exams are all from his lecture. So if you attend class, take down his lecture, study them and memorize them you should get an A in his midterms.

Ortiz is seriously my favorite teacher ever!!! He is beyond funny, helpful, and his lecture notes are clearer than the beaches in Cabo San Lucas! (haha or wherever else you can think of) Non-stop laughs in his class and his examples are very entertaining! Definitely an easy A class. = )

On the first day of class, it seemed that he had a smug arrogance about him...eventually, I realized that's just his style.If you're there to have someone fill in the blanks for you, then don't take him, because you will have to work for your grade. I'd have to say he was one of the most difficult professors I've dealt with, coursework-wise.

Ortiz... Well he does not go over all of the material that will be in the final. He tends to skip sections here and there. He knows how to teach, and deliver the material, but his classwork does not reflect the test. He plays favorites, and does not really like it when you challenge him, he is picky, and wants things a certain way.

Awesome teacher. Took him for two different classes and was great in both of them. Lectures will be 89% on power points 10% on videos and 1% on actual writing on the board. KEEP UP WITH THE READING and you will be fine. If you don't read you will not get a good grade.

Dr.Ortiz makes class very interesting by combining his lectures with real life examples in order to help you understand the material better. The tests are pretty easy as long as you take good notes and READ the assigned readings from the textbook. Most people wouldn't read which is why they'd get Cs &Ds on the tests. Overall, I LOVED the class :)

Dr. Ortiz is fairly easy in imo. I got a B with minimum studying(I would only study hard on test day), but I wouldn't suggest anyone doing that. He lets you know what's gonna be on the tests for most of the test. He is a funny guy too so you'll be able to stay focused.

Test are made out of two sections. 36 questions are taken from textbook and 64 are taken from his lectures. Reading the book is highly encouraged, otherwise you won't get good grades. His lectures are A-ok. Fun to listen to, he likes to talk about Mexican American culture a lot. He prefers to be addressed as Dr instead of professor.

Dr. Fernando is an excellent professor, who truly cares about the knowledge students gain from this class. His tests are broken up into 2 parts: part 1 is the authors questions, and part 2 consists of his own questions. He preps you very well before each exam and goes through what his part will be about. He is very thorough and gives some EC.

Dr. Fernandez is a great professor, he made the lessons real easy to understand and easy to learn. He offers extra credit which is great and a way to recover some points if you don't receive a 100% on a test. Definitely would recommended him to anyone who needs to take psychology 101.

I took Psychobiology during intersession with Dr. Ortiz. He is absolutely the best professor! Our class met for 3 hours 4 days per week and the topic is not easy, but he teaches it so thoroughly and clear that it makes it well worth it. He offers extra credit on every exam and some extra credit on the coloring pages. Thought papers are interesting

He is an amazing teacher. I took him during intersession. He covers almost everything that will be in the exam and he will tell you. The other part you have to read and study, yet if you study you will get it. I need 4 points for an A and he gave me the A. He is a very helpful teacher.

I took his social psych class and really enjoyed it. He uses blackboard a lot for grades and to turn in assignments which are just 2 page papers. There are 5 exams and he tells you what they are based on and even includes online textbook on bb so you can use online quiz, which is also on test ;) he gives tons of examples in lecture. Take him!

DrOrtiz could teach this difficult subject to anyone. His class demands a lot of studying, and the grade you earn is what you would need to put in. He is there to help you when you need it. You must go to every lecture, his lecture notes are based on 70 of the test. I was 2 points away from an A, but he gave the A to me anyway. Highly Recommended

Ortiz is awesome! He's a very down to earth professor and my interest in psychology is very high now. He takes attendance every class, his lectures are always on point and interesting. I took this course online and everything was laid out very clearly, there is a lot of Reading and participation in your modules. Tests are pretty tough but the reading helps, he always tries to answer your emails very quickly. So I've taken Psych 100, 240 and 200 with Prof. Ortiz. He inspired me to be a psych major. He's pretty thorough with is PowerPoint lectures and if you don't understand the material, he'll be glad to help-always there for his students. Reading is a must! Overall, great Professor!

this class does not require you to purchase a textbook because you have modules to work with which are really cheaper than buying a textbook. One thing I had to do was take extra notes on the module to help me at the end for the quizzes. I really wish I had the text, but other than that I would suggest this course to anyone.

I took Professor Ortiz for Bio Psych, and upon finishing the course I was more interested in psychology more than I have ever been. His lectures are informative and he does keep it interesting. He does let you know ahead of time what will be on the tests, but I also recommend you read in preparation for it to get an A in the class. Do the work!

I had him for Intro to Psychology. There was a lot of reading and studying but it wasn't unreasonable considering all the terms and things you need to know for psychology. He gives great lectures, not boring AT ALL. There was a lot of laughing in his class. He is a very reasonable professor.

He was extremely understanding when ish hit the fan . In order to profit the most from this class , reading is essential. He explains it in a way that's easy to comprehend and he takes the time to respond to his students. Honestly, he's made my journey here worthwhile. If you're dedicated and willing to do the work, I recommend this class.

I love the fact that this online class uses modules makes it easier. I gave a suggestion in regarda to giving us a study guide on the main topics that would be on the exam because 15 modules per exam was difficult to know which information to retain. Participate in discussion boards and do the thought papers and try hard.

I took him for Psych 219 in an 8 week course. I would have had Castillo if it was a regular semester and am SO HAPPY I ended up with Ortiz for the class instead. He was an amazing teacher. Anyone that is actually trying should pass, as he doesn't make it anymore difficult than necessary, but you do have to work and learn! Highly recommended!

I enjoyed his lectures, and above all his the best. When it comes to grading he is fair, but he needs to keep in touch with his students sometimes if you send him a message he wont reply at all. He either will ignore your message or probably just delete it. He needs to prioritize everything I passed thats a good thing but he needs to work on email.

His lectures are pretty clear, but if you happened to be confused on a topic he can explain it further very well. Homework is on the chapter that will be covered in next class. 60% of the exam is based on questions straight out of the textbook, so you have to read it to do well. Professor Ortiz is a very good professor! He made psychology very fun and easy. He is very nice and is willing to help you if you need it. Plus, he gives extra credit and tells you what is going to be on the exam.

Dr. Ortiz is an excellent professor and an excellent psychologist. His lecture is amazing. I learned a lot from him. His material is very good. I highly recommend his class.

His class was my absolute favorite! His lectures and very interesting and he presents them in an effective manner! He gives out 4 writing assignments which are very easy and coloring pages which are easy points. He has two parts of the exam 1) textbook 2)his part. His part is so much easier and you can get 100% if you really study for his part.

I really enjoyed taking this class. I learned a lot of new things and he tells you what to expect in the test. I did take him for stats also but I had to drop because I had other stuff going on but he is a really good teacher. You also have to be prepared to read the textbook in order to pass!

Ortiz is such an amazing professor he is the best one I've had at SAC. His lectures are clear and he actually makes class fun. Attendance is a must, he gives you extra credit and lets you know exactly what is gonna be on his tests. I highly recommend this professor I've taken him for all my Psych classes he's amazing

Great teacher and his lectures are interesting. Learned many psychology terms and the exams are easy.

took his online class. chapters are very well put together. make sure to take notes on your chapters. each chapter has quizzes that reinforce your reading content. chapters also have useful videos. all is great except that his email communication isnt as fast, but understand that he also has other classes he teaches. would take again.

you have to read, understand, and do modules every chapter in order to get B + and write 4 thought papers as well as one discussion per week to get A.

Dr. Ortiz is a very caring Professor. He truly cares about his students and their efforts in the class. Lectures are great because he explains the information in a way that is understandable, well, easy (so to speak). If he offers, sign up for his text alerts so you know when the pop quizzes will be -- Keeps you on your toes and the points add up.

Took his class last spring semester, but thought I should leave a comment since I will take his class this upcoming semester. Best professor ever!!!!! If your major is psychology take this class with professor Ortiz. Make sure to read the textbook and do the study guide he gives you, it really helps.

Dr. Ortiz has been the best professor I've ever had. Not only are his lectures extremely interested, he knows how to keep is engaged with cracking jokes here and there. His exam reviews correlafe with exactly what's going to be on a test and he offers extra credit opportunities. I highly recommend Dr. Ortiz, if only he could teach every class LOL!

Professor Ortiz is one of my favorites. His lectures always break down difficult concepts into easy-to-understand terms. You have to write a few papers but they are not difficult. He is a fair grader and offers extra credit. I really recommend his class!

This is a great online class- PSYCH 100. You will utilize the 'module' system for homework (very easy), and the Discussion Board assignments (1 p/wk), while relevant, are very objective, and therefore easy. Dr. Ortiz is a very thorough and great teacher, and makes the online format very desirable.

Such a great professor! He's organized with his weekly assignments, & it makes it easier to know what is due.

Dr. Ortiz is very knowledgable. He provided thorough lectures and well put power points. Though the power points are very helpful, reading the textbook helps getting the A on exams! The class is pretty challeging as papers must be in APA format but he walks his students step by step on the first paper which helped with the other two.

Dr. Ortiz is by far one of the best professors I have taken at SAC. He is very knowledgeable and cares for his students' success. Your grade is all on you. If you slack off and don't read the textbook, don't be surprised if you don't get an A on his exams or even in the class. Pay attention and do the work you're assigned and you'll be good.

I am so glad he was my online Professor. He is so organized and made sure his students knew when and what assignments were due. The reading was all done online and sometimes it was quite a lot, but I enjoyed all the reading as psychology is something that really interest me. Thank you so much Professor Ortiz, you are the real MVP :)

I just finished my 8 week online course with him and it was much easier than I had anticipated! At first, I was confused about the modules, but he explained better and it was a piece of cake. We had four exams that are timed 60 minutes. As long as you take notes and study, you'll pass.

I took Psych 100 online class and Professor Ortiz was great! There was ALOT of online modules to complete, they add up so make sure to do them! Instead of one research paper, we did four short papers, which is way better! I would definetly recommend taking his class to other students!

Being an 8 week online class it was a lot of work, however I learned so much more than I anticipated. Reading the text and doing the homework will help you pass. Also, Prof. Ortiz is super friendly and gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit so it's hard not to succeed! If I take more classes I hope to get him as my professor once again.

Extraordinary professor!!!! Psych 200 is challenging, as are many other college classes. Prof. Ortiz makes the info less daunting and genuinely cares about his students. He allocates time to work with students individually to ensure academic success. I highly recommend taking classes with Prof. Ortiz!

Great professor. DO THE STUDY GUIDES and READ for as much as you can for his exams. Most importantly never miss a class - he builds the study guide around his lectures so don't skip class or you'll miss valuable information. He's also a tough grader so be diligent. Study hard and you'll do fine - He's a very good professor, I highly recommend him.

Dr. Ortiz has a unique way of teaching. He makes sure everyone understands before moving on. He will let you know what should be on the homework and how to organize your reports. You can always ask him questions and he is always helpful. He goes out of his way encouraging students to go to grad school. It shows he loves to teach.

His lectures for me are really hard and super hard to understand. And for his tests he doesn't give you a study guide nor does he go based off what he says he is he not very clear nor specific of what might be on the test. It's also best if you have taken a probably and statistics class before taking this one. It will truely help.

Being that it was an online only class, you are expected to read, a lot! There are quizzes and practice quizzes at the end of each module, but as long as you do all the readings and take notes, you should be fine. You are expected to do a few thought papers and discussions but luckily he does give extra credit. Not much feedback not communication.

He was a good professor and it is really easy if you take him online. If you do take him online he only focuses on the book (online book that is required). Overall if you pay attention, write good notes and turn in the work on time then you'll pass the class without a problem.

Great professor. Lecture is very detailed and if you don't understand it he will go over it again. He makes sure you know how to use the calculator and he is accessible through email and office hours. Class is easy if you show up, ask questions, and most importantly take notes and pay attention.

Professor Ortiz was a wonderful person and was very funny. When you dont understand something, he takes the time to teach you until you understand it. He is very patient unlike most professors. He also provides extra credit so take advantage of that. Overall 10/10 :) really enjoyed his class as well as his company

He is a great professor, lets you ask questions. Is available to answer questions after or before class. He tries to make lectures relevant and is very helpful with tests, quizzes. I would take him again if I could.

Prof Ortiz is so kind & considerate. Wonderful, knowledgeable instructor that makes material easy to understand. He values the input of his students, understands that life can get in the way sometimes and is willing to work with you to help. Text is open source/free, slides are shown in lecture. Graded on small essays, discussion posts, and tests.

The class overall is fairly easy if you actually participate and do assignments. Professor Ortiz is very helpful, especially before test-taking by giving heads up and giving amazing lectures. There is math involved in the work and lots of note-taking.

Extremely easy class. The course was very well structured and assignments were easy to understand. You will do great in the class if you just do the work.

The class is well structured, he responds to all emails and always offers support when needed. Assignments can be turned in anytime before the last day of the class. The class consisted of online discussion posts, exams, computer labs, and quizzes. EASY.

Professor Ortiz's PSYCH210 class is well-structured with a mix of assignments, exams, and labs. He's very helpful, breaks down concepts clearly, and provides support when needed. Using Unstuck study and staying engaged can make this class easy.

His class was easy. There was a lot of reading and homework, but overall, if you put in the work, you'll do fine.

This class was super easy as long as you kept up with the course work. The entire semester was given to complete all assignments and grades were updated almost immediately after the due date! The modules were clear and easy to understand. 10/10!

Took his Psychology 210 class online, and it wasn't too bad. A little difficult to follow along, but overall did pretty well. Use his notes that he posts for you online, it was super helpful. Fair grader and he will mark you down if you aren't detailed enough, and he does use a difficult computer program JASP that was tough to follow. Pretty great!
