He has been one of my most interesting teachers! I liked him very much, and the tests were straight from his lectures and not the boring book. Hint: take good notes, and don't miss too many classes!

Government was my worst subject and had no interest in it whatsover. Mr. Pinon changed all of this -- now I am thinking of even majoring in government. His style of teaching forces students to reconsider and revaluate their political prejudices.

Focuses on concepts and theories. Very helpful and positive.

the class is very intresting and i found that if you just resd the book or take ok notes you will make a easy B in general very good class.

Teaches concepts, understanding how government works and not memory work. High on political ideology, critical of fascist tendencies in U. S. life. Liberal but does not care what you are as long as you are intellecturally honest. Lectures lively.

He is a great teacher. Motivates the students, and make them think. He make fun of our goverment, very liberal but respet the ideas of every one. Tests a little hard, but you can do an A. He is a good teacher.

If you don't like to study, this is your guy! I never studied and STILL passed with a high C. Easy A if you actually DO the work, good guy.

He makes class discussion pretty fun and interesting. Allows students to speak their mind and doesn't tell them they are wrong because of their thoughts or beliefs. I would suggest studying for his tests though.

This is not your usual government class where professors teach definitions. Mr. Pinon will challenge your beliefs. Not for students full of steretypes about America. Best professor in my two years at SAC.

i disagreed with allot of his thoughts but he makes you think in a different perpective. He is stong in his beliefs but will not critize yours. Very good teacher and good class discussion. On tests if you get an answer wrong but explain why it should be right he will give you credit.

A true liberal with a passion for teaching. Even if your a conservative you'll still learn a lot from his lectures. He doesn't lecture from the book, but he keeps you interested with class discussions and open-ended questions. He is cool to learn from even if you disagree with his point of view. He never takes role and its okay of your late.

Mr. Pinon is one of the nicest teacher I ever had at SAC. He explains everyting very clearly . His test all come from the notes but if you have any touble he is happy to help you :)

A good teacher. I recommend that you don't buy the book because all the test questions comes from the lecture. If you know how to take good notes then you shouldn't have any trouble making an A on the class.

I really enjoyed his class. I love gov anyway, but his class was organized very well and overall entertaining. His test come from lectures; I never cracked the book and I made an A.

DON'T BUY THE BOOK! His class is interesting but his tests come from the lectures. YOU NEED TO REALLY COMPREHEND THE ISSUES HE DISCUSSES, because his tests are not easy unless you understand the meaning of things and how they came about. Cool guy essays are an easy 10 points if you google and memorize!

good teacher, lets you argue issues and teaches you quite a bit...you don't need the book.

pinion rocks! his lectures are pretty good..... u really dont need text except for factual stuff (the articles... and BOR and stuff) Pay attention because he doesnt test of factual stuff...... its mostly concept ant theory that he tests on! take him... u wont regret it!!

Mr pinnon is awesome he kept me very interested in the class and allowed everyone to speak their mind his test are easy if you study just a little bit you will do well he is always willing to answer any questions you have and he always applies what you are learning to todays world so that you can understand better great teacher i learned a lot

Made the class very interesting. Tests are relatively easy- straight from lecture. Do't really have to buy the books. Doesn't count attendance. Would definitely take again.

Very nice guy. Don't need your book. His lectures were interesting and everything in the test came out his lecture. Not hard to maken an A on his class.

You don't need a book in this class. His test are just from lectures and if you understand him in class, attend class, and review what he says, you will do fine. I think he is a good teacher.

He has an uncanny ability to explain difficult ideas using examples from every day life. His lectures are concise and to the point. One does not need the text book. I recommend him both for govt and non govt majors.

Mr. Pinon was the best history/govt teacher I have ever had. I always felt confused by history and government, but he makes it real and understandable. Everything comes from lectures, but it truly opens your eyes when you really understand! I even waited an extra semester to make sure I could take his class. Definately worth it.

I was hoping from the comments I wouldn't have to use the book, but he may have caught on.I would recommend using the book because many answers on the test are from there, and I take very good, organized notes.If you're not concerned about your grade, you don't need the book.If you want to make the best grade you can, read the book!

he says dont need book but if you wanna make a decent grade, buy and read it! lectures are okay but not enough notes because tests are kinda long with not much to go on. recommend taking him if you have prior govt. knowledge not just because. if your govt major like me try to find someone else, he's okay just not great

This instructor is very knowledgable. His tests aremultiple choice and essay combined. He give a good review. Do not buy the book. He doesnt use it.He does not take attendance and the class is entirely lecture. He gave us printed notes when we begged but other than that you're on your own. Look up some the terms on wikipedia.

Really interesting teacher, keeps you focused on the topic, his test's though are almost imposible to study for, he offers lot's of opinions in class, and test does not reflect his opinions. I would take him again.

His class was the best college experience I've had to date. He covers all the info you need in class, and if you take notes, study, and participate in discussion you should make an "A". Even when his students see govt. issues from a different perspectives, he listens and allows them to be heard. I would take more classes from him in the future.

Mr Pinon is a very knowledgeable, easy going guy. He takes his time teaching and explains what you don't understand. I am taking him again in the spring. Great instructor!!

Enjoyed this class very much! never had him for previous history/govt courses, wish I did. Does not require text, goes by his own notes. If you need help just ask! I would recommend him to any student!

I got a C simply because I didn't put any effort in his class. He is very knowledgeable, goes strictly by his notes. Tests are multi choice & 1 essay question, and tells you what the essay question is. I would recommend him.

His tests are very easy. He's opinionated and wants you to be too. He's super laidback; you go to class feeling like your just gonna go hang out w/ a friend. A smart friend.

My favorite College professor! The man keeps you interested and relates the material in ways which are not only humorous and entertaining, but also important to our own knowledge of our government. Professor Pinon is the REAL DEAL! He was a political journalist/author and really knows his stuff! No book necessary! Show up, take notes, you pass!

Take His Class! I thoroughly enjoyed it! No text needed - but take GREAT notes and don't miss a class. All of his tests have a few questions thrown in that will catch you by surprise but overall the answers come from your notes. As for having your own opinion - He is very open to hearing an educated opinion.

All I can say is easy A. I bought the book, but never even opened it. Take good notes, be there for the review a day before the test and you'll be fine. We took 3 tests and the final. Also, he is a very easy grader and always ends up giving you extra points. I also missed his class a bunch of times, but still made an A.

His classes are just okay. You don't really need your book but make sure you take good notes. His test are kinda off subject from the notes you may take. So take the time to think about how you may answer the question on his test. I received a C in his class and didn't try my best.

Good teacher, funny stories. Show up, take notes and you should be fine. Tests are a little tricky but just make flash cards an it'll work out. I do recommend him. Take him!

Fantastic! Lectures are right out of the book. He doesn't take role-he feels that you paid for it so it is your decision whether or not to show up. Tests can be tricky, but he gives bonus questions. Mellow, easygoing, funny and interesting. Great!!

very compelling person, if not the best teacher. tests are based on lecture notes, but many of the questions we never went over in class (though he DOES give 10 pts bonus on every exam). so far i've gotten a 102 and a 96 on the tests with a fair amount of studying. attendance is not mandatory. take this class if you're a good note-taker.

Class is fun and interesting, but tests are hard and often over concepts that were not covered in class! Prof. does give bonus essay questions on tests, which helped me get an A in the class. There are only 3 tests and a final. No extra credit! My advice: study hard. The book is not required, and I didn't not read it. The final is easy.

Class was very fun and informative. you do not need the book. Advise to attend all lectures and write everything he says. 3 exams and final. exams were tough for the people who didn't go to class or take notes. I got an A because i went to class and took very good notes. he gives bonus points on exams for writing a short answer. final is very easy

He is a good teacher, but I understand the bad reviews. It's ALL Lecture. & the test can be scary, multiple choice & you must think clearly or you will get tripped up. He says don't get the book, but IF you are not a good note taker you MUST have the book. My grade jumped 15pts after getting the book. He's very passionate & loves class involvement.

I really like Mr. Piñon 's class. I got the book and I highly advise to get it. It will make the course much easier, and if you can record his lecture that will help as well. I personally enjoyed his class and the way he is open about any comments. I don't think the test are that hard if you get the book. Overall great class!!

Professor Pinon is a very easy teacher. If you have questions for him, he will help you & he is very flexible about grading. There have been times when he couldn't make it to class and to make up for it, he would give us 10 extra credit points to our test grade. Other times we had to earn our 10 pts on essays. Great teacher and very fair at grading

Easy grade as longs as you took class notes! There were 4 exams including the final. Each test were about 40-50 multiple choice and a short answer. Hardly used the book. He is very clear on what he expects from you and if you're easily offended do not take this class! The lectures were interesting and attendance is mandatory.
