Wow... this guy should really learn to help people before he blames them for not trying. Does not explain himself well and leaves you to learn examples on your own when you dont know what your doing to begin with. stay away if you can

He is the worst professor ever!!! He was very unclear and sometimes it seemed like he wasn't even speaking english. He made you feel stupid when you asked questions and i would definately NOT recommend him to anyone! Brutal guy!

i wasted about $500 taking this class from this clown. i have never seen a worse example of trying to teach a subject. his examples were horribly organized and he told us student that we were stupid. if the u of r wants to stay competetive with other schools, i suggest getting rid of people like him

Worst prof ever. When I went to get my midterm adjusted b/c of his adding error, he told me to forget it and then hung up the phone on me. He frequently calls the class stupid, and offers to help the exceptional students and only makes the other students feel inadequate. Should be fired.

Avoid at all costs. He is never organized, will not help you with assignments period. has no ability to convey material to his students. U either get a 0 or 100 for assignments... who the hell does that? He hardly ever gives partial marks, and if he does, only to his favorite students. AVOID HIM!!!

This was the worst class i ever took. Honestly, he was not friendly or helpful at all. He would spend 20 minutes on a concept, and then realize he made an error in his work and start from the beginning again. How can he teach a course that he doesn't understand himself?

Although it is obvious he is passionate about Mathematics he has trouble saying what he is thinking about. He sucks at getting his point across. No matter how many examples he give you. I would not reccommend him to anyone.

Never ever go for this prof ...i got 85% all by my own work . useless prof never gave appointments or any extra time to discuss questions. mid term were like joke to him just one or two easy question and thats all .

It's profs like these that make me reevaluate the Canadian education system. We pay A LOT of money to go school.. and when we spend $500 a class for a completely incoherent and pretentious prof.. it really bothers me. This prof is just brutal. In summary: harsh marker. He outright said that he's pushing us way harder then a normal class and that we'll appreciate it in the long run. That might be true if you plan on taking more complicated math classes like this, but if you aren't and just need the Math 122 credit (like me)m I'd recommend taking it from someone else.

Clearly has NO care for his students. He took down posted assignments and solutions that were online a week before the Final so there was nothing to reference if you didn't print them off. I called and emailed him multiple times and got no reply. When I finally got through, he was rude and arrogant claiming that I should have them. ABOMINABLE!!!!!!

Lecture notes barely relate to assignments. Mid-terms are ridiculous. Ignorant. Lacks explanatory skills - tells students to refer to the book. His marking is outrageous. Partially right answers receive a grade of 0. Absolutely no clarity.

Terrible! I absolutely loved calculus until i got to his class. Remember that YOU are paying hundreds of dollars for this class and then try to ask a question and he'll get mad because you don't understand. 3rd year of University and have never disliked a class more. Don't get me wrong - I love math, But i do not like the way he teaches. He tries to go as fast as he can and will not let anyone ask questions. I expect a lot more when paying the amount of money we pay for a class. SLOW DOWN Buddy. We are here to learn.

He enjoys making sure the class knows that his cat, and a bunch of third graders that he taught are smarter. Expects you to know a lot, and it is okay if you do, but if not, he will not explain it. If you get something wrong in a class discussion he will make you feel stupid.

Fernando is clearly naturally gifted at math but because he knows it's naturally he doesn't explain it well. Exam questions are to be done his way or zero. No partial marks. Class of 130 went to 37. Ended up being kicked off the class and we got a new prof. I went from having an 93 in foundations 12 to a 35 in his class while he was teaching.

He knows a lot about math but however the way he teaches is not how math should be taught. No one understands math through theory, all he does in class is theory and hardly any examples. I would say if your a 100% student in math and want to get a 70% instead of 100% take him but if you think 100 % is better then avoid him at all cost. AVOID HIM!!!

Honestly try to stay away from this prof. He will destroy your GPA. His midterm is 7 multiple choice which is worth 30% of your final mark. He is not Clear at all. and if your taking math for your first time don't take it with him cuz youll wanna hate math after taking it with. we learnt the hard way and it hurt our GPA soo Much. AVOID AT ALL COST!

I break my personal record this class, first time i get lower than 90 percent on math class. He is really good at teaching and u do not even need to attend on his class, because everything he taught will not in the test. If u wanna some big challenge in u life, try it.

Honestly a horrible, brutal teacher. His 'teaching method' is just writing examples on the board as fast as possible, omitting steps that he 'has done in his head'. He does not show how or why things work, but only that he knows how to do math. Don't bother going to his office hours for help either, he just gets annoyed that you even showed up.

Fernando is not clear at all, doesn't differentiate between his proofs and what he wants on tests, and mumbles so if you're in the back you can't hear him. Worst professor I've ever had.

If You'd like to get a good grade and learn something please stay away from this prof. Its soo hurting that you pay to learn but you walk out of the class after a lecture even more confused then you walked into the lecture. Do not take this course with this prof. Terrible prof stands at the front of the class and rushes through lectures. If someone asks a question he says it's intuitive and you should of learned it in highscool. If you go to his office he won't be any help at all. If you do take him as a prof make sure you never skip a step in your quizzes or he will give an automatic 0 on that question.

this mans is awful. he literally expects you to know what he is talking about and you never even heard of the things before. his tests are messed up and the homework isnt even related to the lectures. you are all on your own in his class. ive cried multiple times from him. AWFUL. wont even look you in the eye when you go to meet up with him after.

He doesn't seem to care about the students in his class at all, and doesn't seem to want to be there. His tests are difficult and you only receive marks if you get the final answers to the questions right.

Prof. Szechtman falls incredibly short due to his inability to communicate his thoughts or ideas to the students. He treats this class like they need to know the theory inside and out, with little help as to how to answer a single math question. Notes are barely legible and he rambles and tangents so often, the textbook will teach you more than him

Fernando is the one of the bad proff i have ever seen. he don't even know how to talk with student never give you satisfying reply, and always his grading system is unfair and if you don't copy from others or any other source still you will get mail that you copied from this and get 0 marks and even not give you a satisfying reply and too much hw.

Do not even think about taking a class with Professor Szechtman. I repeat do not make the mistake of taking his class, he expects you to answer according to his methods otherwise won't give you the credits for your answer. Never seen a professor like him. He never supports you. You cannot even do a calculation by your method. Gives a lot of Assignments and then says will only grade a couple of sums that were not solvable by us.

WORST. Every instruction he gave us for the final was finished with a comment "This is very easy" because he expects we know everything & if u don't do it his way than he marks it wrong. Makes you do large assignments & than only marks the ones everyone struggled with. If u get 5 questions wrong on final it's -70. The whole exam was out of 100...

NEVER take him. So bad I will be sending an email to the department to complain. He isnt the clearest lecturer and does not refrerence any of the textbooks that he suggests you have available for the class. He also made a habit of flagging students for academic misconduct the moment they saught outside help. He would decide after assignments were handed in whether or not he was going to correct them. Would not recomend.

TRY YOUR BEST TO AVOID HIM. His online class got blur cam, scrambled with his unique handwriting, everythings is barely readable. The final exam has one question, exactly pin point one way to resolve one question, which if you use any others regardless the answer is correct or not, you will get 0. If you have to go with him, good luck out there...

I've never done rate my prof before but this is just too egregious. This man is a terrible prof who seems to enjoy having his students fail. He uninspiring and difficult to understand, and notwithstanding his arbitrary marking scheme, he does not care about his students. I had laggy internet, missed a deadline by 20 seconds, he gave me zero.

Has no concern for students' time and effort. Also, since the class was online, he only published him reading his confusing notes with the most monotone and uninterested voice possible. It seems like his preferred teaching style is to confuse as many students as possible. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Worst Professor Ever

Sucks!

My final grade has been updated to NR (NOT REGISTERED) for suspected plagiarism where I did not do anything wrong in the final exam. He says he went through my final exam quite a few times and found it suspicious for not matching with his class lectures. Point to be noted no one follows his lecture, hardly 5-6 students showed up out of 70 students.

Horrendous. He will talk about one point and run through that for the entire lecture. Always tells us to "look back at your notes" when some answers or steps are incorrect. Very heavy on tests. Very disrespectful. This class was a literal fever dream.

Really hard to understand, just reads boring slides during class and does not make an effort to clear up any confusion. Everyone who attempts his tests, ends up losing marks due to his strict grading methods. I asked for an appointment so I could improve for the final exam, was told rudely to just retake the course. Got ghosted for asking for help.

This dude is an absolute nutcase, super harsh and hard to understand. The midterm average was 35%, and over 1/2 of the class failed miserably. Szchehtman should be immediately terminated from the university. Even if you get the answer right, he will mark it wrong if you don't do it exactly like he would, and he will not even give partial marks.

teacher is terrible. He's test-focused, rude, and hard to follow. He doesn't like students using their own methods and marks us wrong if we don't do it his way. We only have 2 midterms, but he expects us to know everything and doesnt give enough time to solve the ridiculously long questions, without calculators too. Horrible class.

Lectures often felt rushed, and I struggled to follow explanations without clear step-by-step examples. While past quizzes and materials were available, they didn't reflect the style or difficulty of the actual quizzes, midterms, or final, which made studying less effective.

If you want to fail this course, take it with this professor. He's a great guy and clearly very smart, but he doesn't know how to teach. If you're already very strong in math and don't need much help, you might be fine. However, if you struggle with math or actually want to learn, I wouldn't recommend taking this class with him.
