Felipe is a young nice teacher. He's very friendly but also knows how to make himself be respected. He knows a lot about american and world history. He's not an easy grader, but if you show insterest, he will help you. 2 MC quizzes, 2 exams (MC/essay) 1 paper. Not an easy teacher, but not the hardest either. I passed with a B, and I hate history!

He is a somewhat tough essay grader, but will proofread papers for students. He even gives extra credit for it. Powerpoint lectures are made interesting with his dry humor and constant cursing. He answers questions students have & even adds background info. If he doesn't know something, he'll look it up & tell the class the next class session.

Not during winter... Expect to write 4 essays the last 3 weeks including a 5-7pg source essay. 5th week is the hardest. A big plus is that the sources are given, there's no outside research allowed which saves a lot of time. Weekly essays not that impactful, if you're doing well you can get away with not turning one in & still get a good grade.

If you are going to take professor Melo, be prepared to constantly do weekly discussions, primary source activities, occasional midterms, and one final. Be sure to cite quotes in your essays, as it is an integral part of his grading. Professor Melo is also very responsive to his emails. Overall, I felt like I learned a lot from this class.

Definitely read the textbook as it is it has QUIZ and ESSAY INFO. The class is overall quiz heavy so be prepared for a lot of questions about the textbook especially in the essays. As easy as it is to cheat you'll only cheat yourself. Do with that what you will. ALSO he is VERY responsive and active via email/canvas inbox so that's super helpful.

Took this as a high schooler. It's an async online class. Prof. Melo gives encouraging feedback and joins discussions sometimes. He's a lenient grader on essays but midterms/finals are tricky. Email replies are fast but vague. Lecture videos are short, which is nice. Decent class overall. I'd take him again.
