Funny guy, but gave unorganized lectures. He didn't teach a lot of the material that we needed for the exam and ended up finishing the course 2 weeks early. Go to Rohan's lectures instead if you can (or at least his review sessions) if you want to do well, because Mansour on his own won't do.

Prof Mansour is a hard working, dedicated, caring prof, who is just unable to communicate concepts effectively to students. Very entertaining in class, but does tend to centre people out sometimes.

Great personality; very entertaining and helpful. He gets bonus marks from me for actually encouraging us to come to this website and comment on him. I found his blackboard notes aren't very helpful to study from; they are many drawings and formulas without explanations of what they mean.

This guy knows his stuff and funny. But his way of teaching may not be suitable for everyone. He expects us to know the concept inside out and there is nothing wrong with that cause if u really do that u really know the stuff but we r not engineers, our strenghts may not be in physics.

very disorganized, hard to follow, confusing, assignment questions were not indicative of what to expect on the quizzes, the quizzes were far too long for weekly quizzes (i think it is unreasonable to expect students to successfully complete a 3 hour quiz every week)

His class was entertaining. He really wants to teach his students, but sometimes he mumbles stuff that hard to understand. His blackboard notes don't explain too much, but it was a fair course. If you do you your work and stay on track and ask for help you'll be okay. He was a good prof.

MANSOUR ROCKS he makes Physics Phun. Mansour is really nice, always willing to help, and keeps students interested. This is not an easy course though, dont fall behind. If you do fall behind go talk to him, he will help. Great guy really funny. A few more relavent examples would help.

Great prof, funny, knows his stuff and very helpful. I just have one comment, when it came to electrostatics, fields and gauss law, the topics were spread over too much time, mostly due to midterms, reading week, etc. this caused a lot of confusion especially since the class was only once a week.

Professor Mansour is an excellent instructor. He explains concepts very well, is more than fair, and devotes a lot of extra time to helping students understand the material. He is enthusiastic and hilarious. The only problem may be the course structure and how we had to rush through at the end.

Genuinely wanted us to do well, enthusiastic about the course. Review sessions were very helpful and I was grateful for them! The course organization could have been better- remarking quizzes all the time was not fun, and the last couple units were crammed in at the end. Thank you for being helpful!

He tried to make Physics fun and easy and was very helpful, but once u hate Physics, u'll never like it. I wish he would have done more examples in class and not relied on the extra tutorial sessions to do them in. Great professor, but I'm glad I never have to take Physics again.

Prof Mansour is always ready to help but more importantly he is unique in the fact that he really cares whether you understand and tries to make physics fun.Only fault is that more organization is needed. People may find it easier if they take notes on wht he says AND what he writes on the board :)

Loved the prof, hated the course. Prof. Mansour has a cute sense of humour, is always willing to offer extra help and genuinely wants his students to do well. He is very flexible and considers all student feedback. The course itself is HARD - tons of conceptual questions, few numerical examples.

Best physics prof ever. Approachable, friendly, helpful and.. very funny! I absolutely hate physics but i think with the prof's help, i may have actually passed... Midterm and finals were both very fair, know how to do the quizzes and assignments and all is well.. :)

I thought professor Mansour made sometimes dull and dreary physics seem really awfully interesting. I'm rather glad I took this class. All the examples we did in class were really more helpful than simply copying down concepts. Thanks Professor!

Mansour is definately one of a kind! I never understood or liked physics, but he made it SO easy, with examples that everyone could understand and humour that made the tough stuff stay in your head. HINT: It's definately worth your time to LEARN the quiz questions and GO TO CLASS!

In his class, i have defenetly learned that fundamentals are very important , making me realize that i need to slow down and really understand the stuff. He always emphasized this. He also made class very fun. But just one little suggestion, give more examples! Just to help us relate the ideas.

I attended Prof Mansour's lectures for more than half the term even though I was in another section. He teaches very effectively... allowing you time to "understand" what is going on, rather than the way my prof taught (Chaves). Trust me, if you are going to take 112 GET IN ONE OF MANSOUR'S SECTIONS

I attended his Tuesday night sessions, he makes the lecture much less torturous than I thought, it was actually amusing. He is VERY willing to help (most willing prof I have ever met). The midterms and the final exam were both difficult for me.

He was so helpful and always available if you needed it. Great tutorial sessions! How many profs stay till 7 or 8pm to hold an extra tutorial sessions for students?? You can tell he really wants to get the students interested. I still found his final pretty difficuly though.

Professor Mansour made class interesting by brining in demo's and he had a great sense of humour. the best class that he tought was when he left us go early because there a 'gas leak' (aka stink bomb) in the room. Overal really nice guy, good teacher, but his notes weren't very organized.

He is a very nice proff. Very helpful b/c he would offer to hold tutorials where he would explain previous quizzes and any probs that students would have. If you don't come to class, it is hard to understand his wordless notes.. b/c most of it is just repeated eqautions. He likes to help his students do well. So overall he is a good proffessor.

He's a good prof, however he's notes are lacking in words and explanations. Repeated equations don't help very much. He spends too much time talking.. not enough time writing. Otherwise, he's a very nice and helpful prof, always there to assist you!

He's good at making class interesting, but afterwards I feel like I'm still not really clear about the concepts. I think it would be helpfull for him to give more in depth explanations to his solutions and try to make his notes clearer for note-taking purposes.

I used to hate physics in high school and was really bad at it to. I was dreading taking it in university, thnx to Firas I now LOVE physics. And on top of this new found love I actually understand it!!! Firas is the best and the only prof I know that signs his emails with cheers! I LOVE FIRAS (too bad hes married:(

This prof is amazing. He actually cares how you do in the course, as long as youre willing to work and come to him for help. 2 extra hours of lecture a week, pages and pages of really helpful extra notes online.. a little hard to read but still great. A class you probably wont fall asleep in- very captivating speaker.

This prof is great, while most profs are there b/c they have to, he is actually concerned with how his students do. He offers tons of extra support if u want it (extra help sessions, and notes) and he is very approachable, once he knows ur name he remembers it.The lecture are definately interesting, and he adds personality to the class.Great prof!

Prof. Mansour makes lectures easy to attend (considering I was in the 3-hr evening lecture)...he definitely made me laugh quite a few times. In addition, he is always willing to help out. Very very helpful and dedicaed. There should not be any problem in seeking extra help from Professor Mansour. Not only that, he makes physics interesting (especially if you were in the 3 hour lecture). His lectres are a bit hard to follow if you dont read the notes beforehad (sometimes hard to see where he's headed). But an excellent professor.

Great prof who is very dedicated. A little scary if he picks on you. Course notes aren't the best in terms of neatness (and there are A LOT of notes to copy out or print) but the notes are very helpful and fundamental to understanding. Stresses importance of knowing the basics before continuing. He's funny and really knows his stuff. Recommended!

Amazing prof,unbelievably dedicated to helping students (it seems anytime I see him he's helping a student...)Lectures were great--although many complaints are that there is too much focus on theory and not enough on practice examples. On the contrary understanding the theory is the key to success in physics. I thought there were problems a plenty.

Professor Mansour was very very, genuinely, a great teacher. He cares about his students, and he wants them to do well. He always talks to the class, teaching them to review and study, and if we didnt do too well on the midterm, not to worry. He is very support and very nice. By far the best prof out there. Very understanding and ALWAYS willing to help out. If you ever dont understand a concept just go ask he will help you until you understand. Reading the notes ahead of time is key as is attending his lectures and paying attention. Overall one of the nicest people I've ever met.

He is probably the most genuinely caring professor in this university.. Every week he spends endless hours helping students, both with scheduled 2 hour help sessions as well as one on one.. His lectures are actually EXTREMELY enjoyable, as well informative.. i know people who actually sit through his lectures for fun.. Mansour is absoultely AWESOME

Help sessions are great. They help strengthen what you don't understand in the lectures. A little fast in my opinion, but if you go to him during his office hours, he's willing to take it slowly one by one. He'll also help you until you completely understand. He also likes to talk about his cats!

But his notes are really scattered and puts 1000 formulas on the board while proving things without clarifying which formulas are used. Needs to do less theory/derivations and more examples. Pretty easy course though.

I do not like how we spend so much time focusing on derivations of 1000s of formuals. It would be much more helpful if we keep doing problems and examples (like how phys111 was taught). Many questions on the assignments require textbook knowledge, which aren't in lecture notes and lectures. Tought midterm. I am expecting a tough final too. =(

My favourite professor for sure, he aknowledges that it's a hard course and makes time to help us with help sessions etc, something he doesnt need to do but does anyway for our benefit. The midterm was way too hard, I studied a lot and failed but people guessed on every answer and could get 90 cause it was multiple choice,so it doesnt reflect skill

Very helpful prof and very fun. excellent use of "toys" but his notes and online notes are very messy and difficult to read. I used the textbook more than his notes because it's too hard to read/understand. He's a cool prof and his jokes and stories will keep you awake regardless how comfy the chairs are.

Funny prof but his teaching method is very unstructured. Notes tend to be unorganized and I had to read the book to learn the course. He tends to favour girls in the class. If you get chummy with him, you can expect a good grade, if not, you better work extrememly hard. Midterm and final are stuff you've never seen before so don't waste ur time

Very funny guy.. He is like the arabic santa claus. I mean that in a good way! The only thing is his exams seem HARD.. this term anyway. Though the final was hard, I thought it was fair, since he told us a lot of what was going to be on it. Overall, GO TO CLASS or you will not do well. Excellent professor! Those who claim this past term's final exam was unfair were expecting cookie-cutter questions and aren't used to application and problem solving. True, it was actually quite hard, but it wasn't unfair. He is very accessible if you seek help, and if you do see him he makes sure you understand the material before you leave.

Great Professor, great person and very passionate about teaching. He's also very funny and makes a lot of jokes in class. Best prof i've ever had here at waterloo. clearly enjoys what he teaches, is enthusiastic about the class, and genuinely cares that you learn the material. Exams are hard, (especially the MT) but if you go to his extra help classes, he shows you how to do questions almost exactly the same as those on the MT and Final. GREAT CLASS and PROF!

Very helpful prof as long as you don't go to him right before the midterm/final. The midterm was bellcurved but I found it pretty easy. The course overall was not extremely difficult to pass, however it is by far the hardest course in 1B semester. Attend classes and visit his office hours if you need help (he is extremely helpful or so I hear).

Firas Mansour is the funniest and most lively professor ever. You will find it impossible to sleep during his classes. However, he does not explain concepts very clearly and goes a bit fast. The midterm was a disaster for most people, the final was a bit better, but no-one finished it. Very helpful prof though.

He is the FUNNIEST teacher in this university I think but not the greatest. He sometimes makes easy things confused and hard things not mentioned. That's why we always see people laughed in his class but when you ask them did you actually understand, they said no. Not good enough to be a "Great prof", but he is Good comparing with the other one

THE BEST PROF EVER! If you are in ECE and haven't attended his classes, you've definitely missed the real fun. Gives real life examples, believes in showing physics practically more than theory, helps you grasp the concept before stuffing you with questions. NO words, he's definitely THE BEST PROF!

great prof, this course isnt hard if you have taken high school physics. the midterm was easy and so was the final, just there was long and i dont think anyone finished. at least no one left early. love this guy as a prof. definitely take him if you have the option

Firas is a funny and interesting guy. He is a fun person. But honestly, I did not learn a lot from him. His way of teaching is not the best and confused me even more at times. But, he did try his best to go out of his way to help people out even though it wasnt much help, his attitude was good. Overall an amazing dude, but not a great teacher.

Simply said, he's amazing. He'll make sure you grasp concepts before throwing questions at you. Make sure you go to his evening help sessions. They are real-exam material. Odds are you'll see something similar on the exam.

AMAAAAZZZINGGGGGG. Pushed me into a wall to demonstrate action reaction forces. Threw hammers across the class to represent centripetal and projectile motion. Very supportive prof and understands your needs as a first year. Get to know this prof!!! He has a lot of great advice and writes fabulous references.

He is such a funny prof! He tries to make the class fun and entertaining by showing demonstrations. One time he accidentally set off the fire extinguisher! Final was so unexpected but thank goodness for the bell curve!

If you have to take ECE 106, I recommend a different teacher. While Mansour is engaging with his teaching, he does not teach very much of the course material. By the time finals come around, you have to teach yourself a good bit of the course. I learnt more in one help session from the SE prof then I did from the entire term with Mansour.

Super funny prof. He has a reputation for deadly exams, which is true to an extent. Despite that he still tries very hard to make sure you get the key points during the lectures so you can do as well as possible and not be part of the half of the class that fail. He can go a little fast during lectures, but they're still pretty comprehensive.

Professor Mansour's lectures are the most entertaining lectures I've had. He makes some hilarious jokes, and does his best to make the lectures worthwhile. The board can get messy at times, but if you pay attention, then you will be able to follow what he's doing. I highly recommend him if you take a course that he teaches.

He is the best prof at UW. He really cares about students- you can tell that he wants people to participate in lectures so that students learn better. The material is tough, but practice the problems he assigns and the you'll be tested on similar questions. He makes sure you UNDERSTAND, not just memorize. Get to know him, he is phenomenal!

Every lecture of professor Mansour is vast interesting due to the different perspectives from the easiest to the hardest that he gives to solve one problem. In addition, the availability of the professor outside of class was enough and he is always willing to help every student in their weaknesses and challenges in the subject or in their homework.

He's a fun spirited guy and genuinely made you enjoy every physics lecture. He gives incredible examples throughout the course so that understanding the concepts are crystal clear. He's not strict and formal so he is very approachable and flexible as to when he can help you with anything. Had a one on one talk with him and he inspired me!

Amazing prof. Truly cares about each of his students and their success. He teaches through examples and demonstrations, making physics fun and easy to understand. Definitely recommended that you show up to class. Funny and very nice guy as well. I have never liked physics before this term. :)

Expect no notes, he teaches how to solve problems, so most knowledge is taught during in-class examples or on your own. Highly recommend reading ahead by looking at the course outline. Other than no notes, prof is amazing, very helpful out of class, but the course is hard.

Hilarious stories but unfortunately he spends all of his time either telling stories or conceptually doing questions. Examples done in class don't have numbers and that makes it hard to know if you truly understand the concept. He cares whether you understand the logic, which is great but don't expect to get good notes or good practice solving.

Great guy but his teaching style is a little unorganized. All he does is go through examples, but an upside is that he tried to make physics fun by sharing almost relevant stories. Has a lot of help session which is good if you wanted to actually learn the class material outside of class time.

I love how his explanations for key concepts in physics were so concise yet clear. People complain how his solutions to example problems are only in variables but tbh, you should've picked this up from high school. He also had weekly extra-help sessions which were really helpful where he solved pretty difficult problems.

Would definitely recommend! He's a great prof, explains the material well. Must warn you though, some people find his way of teaching to be unique and non-traditional, and hence end up not attending the classes. He explains the subject very well, and makes sure you understand why it works the way it is supposed to.

Great professor. He gives great lectures, and he really gets to know the students. He likes to focus on key concepts, and moves really fast, so pay attention. Go to the lectures. His review sessions are also absolutely essential. Get the textbook, and do problems like your life depends on it. Beware the midterm (for real it's really hard).

Mansour's tests are fair, however, you won't learn ANYTHING by going to his classes. He tries to justify not teaching any of the content by saying that it'll make you put in more effort, but in reality it just means that you aren't given the right resources to learn. Your TA will probably teach you more in 1 tutorial than he will the entire term.

Don't get me wrong he a great guy to be around with, full of amazing stories to tell you. But I'm rating him as a professor here and I will never take his class again. The biggest problem is he skip steps when explaining things. I find myself wasting so much time on the internet filling up the knowledge gap, plus remote learning makes it worse.

The course was constantly plagued by technical issues. The videos and live lectures were rarely useful. I often found that I had to watch Khan Academy videos to understand anything that was going on.
