Prof Mansour is a hard working, dedicated, caring prof, who is just unable to communicate concepts effectively to students. Very entertaining in class, but does tend to centre people out sometimes.

He is SUCH a sweetheart!! The exam was hard but its his job to do that I guess...But overall he is very nice and is always available to help you out.

Great personality; very entertaining and helpful. He gets bonus marks from me for actually encouraging us to come to this website and comment on him. I found his blackboard notes aren't very helpful to study from; they are many drawings and formulas without explanations of what they mean.

This guy knows his stuff and funny. But his way of teaching may not be suitable for everyone. He expects us to know the concept inside out and there is nothing wrong with that cause if u really do that u really know the stuff but we r not engineers, our strenghts may not be in physics.

His class was entertaining. He really wants to teach his students, but sometimes he mumbles stuff that hard to understand. His blackboard notes don't explain too much, but it was a fair course. If you do you your work and stay on track and ask for help you'll be okay. He was a good prof.

This prof really cares about the students and marks very fairly. He is always willing to give extra help if needed. Prof Mansour loves what he teaches and it shows.

MANSOUR ROCKS he makes Physics Phun. Mansour is really nice, always willing to help, and keeps students interested. This is not an easy course though, dont fall behind. If you do fall behind go talk to him, he will help. Great guy really funny. A few more relavent examples would help.

Great prof, funny, knows his stuff and very helpful. I just have one comment, when it came to electrostatics, fields and gauss law, the topics were spread over too much time, mostly due to midterms, reading week, etc. this caused a lot of confusion especially since the class was only once a week.

This Prof definitely made Physics fun..he's like a jolly brown santa-claus.. always laughing, nice, fun, and entertaining ..he also drilled concepts in our head till we knew them! I was not in your section, but the lectures that I did go to - I enjoyed learning Physics (for almost the first time) and I was able to step through and understand processes.

Professor Mansour is an excellent instructor. He explains concepts very well, is more than fair, and devotes a lot of extra time to helping students understand the material. He is enthusiastic and hilarious. The only problem may be the course structure and how we had to rush through at the end.

Genuinely wanted us to do well, enthusiastic about the course. Review sessions were very helpful and I was grateful for them! The course organization could have been better- remarking quizzes all the time was not fun, and the last couple units were crammed in at the end. Thank you for being helpful!

He tried to make Physics fun and easy and was very helpful, but once u hate Physics, u'll never like it. I wish he would have done more examples in class and not relied on the extra tutorial sessions to do them in. Great professor, but I'm glad I never have to take Physics again.

A very funny prof! classes were so interesting noone ever fell asleep! he's very helpful and enthusiastic about the course and is good at making you understand the material. more practice questions would have helped to grasp the concepts better though.

The prof was good and enthusiastic towards his job, but the material was tedious, challenging and the text book absolutely did not represent what was seen on quizzes and tests.

Prof Mansour is always ready to help but more importantly he is unique in the fact that he really cares whether you understand and tries to make physics fun.Only fault is that more organization is needed. People may find it easier if they take notes on wht he says AND what he writes on the board :)

If you ever wondered what it would be like to have Santa as a professor, take one of Mansour's classes! Funniest man ever! He's very helpful, and his lectures are interesting. He doesn't give very many examples in class, but his exams are fair.

Mansour definetly made physics bearable. All around funny guy. Wants you to do well and will go out of his way to make sure you do.

Loved the prof, hated the course. Prof. Mansour has a cute sense of humour, is always willing to offer extra help and genuinely wants his students to do well. He is very flexible and considers all student feedback. The course itself is HARD - tons of conceptual questions, few numerical examples.

Best physics prof ever. Approachable, friendly, helpful and.. very funny! I absolutely hate physics but i think with the prof's help, i may have actually passed... Midterm and finals were both very fair, know how to do the quizzes and assignments and all is well.. :)

Mansour is definately one of a kind! I never understood or liked physics, but he made it SO easy, with examples that everyone could understand and humour that made the tough stuff stay in your head. HINT: It's definately worth your time to LEARN the quiz questions and GO TO CLASS!

I attended Prof Mansour's lectures for more than half the term even though I was in another section. He teaches very effectively... allowing you time to "understand" what is going on, rather than the way my prof taught (Chaves). Trust me, if you are going to take 112 GET IN ONE OF MANSOUR'S SECTIONS

I attended his Tuesday night sessions, he makes the lecture much less torturous than I thought, it was actually amusing. He is VERY willing to help (most willing prof I have ever met). The midterms and the final exam were both difficult for me.

He was so helpful and always available if you needed it. Great tutorial sessions! How many profs stay till 7 or 8pm to hold an extra tutorial sessions for students?? You can tell he really wants to get the students interested. I still found his final pretty difficuly though.

Incredible prof!! Extremely helpful -- what other prof would put in so much extra time for the students and come in on the Sunday before exam for extra help. I've never met a prof so willing to help students, make class enjoyable, and put forth soooo much effort.

This guy is a great prof! He explains the material thoroughly and really wants the students to understand. He was always available for extra help and had many review sessions through the year which were very helpful. He is very into what he does and it shows when he teaches.

i took the course was because it was a degree requirement, but i became interested and excited as i put so much work into understanding it. the prof really made an effort to help out unlike any other i've had. all i can say is keep up the good work, i know many students like myself will benefit.

Very helpful teacher, but actual explination notes sometimes lacking. Examples very well done though. Sometimes hard to understand writing and verbally, but otherwise can explain things very very clearly.

He's a good prof, however he's notes are lacking in words and explanations. Repeated equations don't help very much. He spends too much time talking.. not enough time writing. Otherwise, he's a very nice and helpful prof, always there to assist you!

He's good at making class interesting, but afterwards I feel like I'm still not really clear about the concepts. I think it would be helpfull for him to give more in depth explanations to his solutions and try to make his notes clearer for note-taking purposes.

He's pretty good, but sometimes spends longer on concepts than neccesary and doesn't always write what the equations really mean.

What can I say, I was a fun class. He makes it intresting. I does not just want to teach you what u need to know, but he takes his time, and wants to make sure u GET IT. Thank you for the last example... was wery usefull.

He actually cares how you do in the course, as long as youre willing to work and come to him for help. 2 extra hours of lecture a week, pages and pages of really helpful extra notes online.. a little hard to read but still great. A class you probably wont fall asleep in- very captivating speaker.

Prof. Mansour makes lectures easy to attend (considering I was in the 3-hr evening lecture)...he definitely made me laugh quite a few times. In addition, he is always willing to help out. Although the notes he posted on-line were somewhat difficult to read, he was actually doing us a favour by putting up supplementary notes. Great Job Firas!

Very very helpful and dedicaed. There should not be any problem in seeking extra help from Professor Mansour. Not only that, he makes physics interesting (especially if you were in the 3 hour lecture). His lectres are a bit hard to follow if you dont read the notes beforehad (sometimes hard to see where he's headed). But an excellent professor.

Amazing prof,unbelievably dedicated to helping students (it seems anytime I see him he's helping a student...)Lectures were great--although many complaints are that there is too much focus on theory and not enough on practice examples. On the contrary understanding the theory is the key to success in physics. I thought there were problems a plenty.

By far the best prof out there. Very understanding and ALWAYS willing to help out. If you ever dont understand a concept just go ask he will help you until you understand. Reading the notes ahead of time is key as is attending his lectures and paying attention. Overall one of the nicest people I've ever met.

He is probably the most genuinely caring professor in this university.. Every week he spends endless hours helping students, both with scheduled 2 hour help sessions as well as one on one.. His lectures are actually EXTREMELY enjoyable, as well informative.. i know people who actually sit through his lectures for fun.. Mansour is absoultely AWESOME

He's such a funny and nice guy. Honestly, I hate physics before I took this class and feared my life at the beginning of the term. But it turned out being my favourite class of the year. He's so dedicated, helpful and actually goes out of his way to help us a lot of the times to do more than his job requires.

Firas is one of the most congenial profs I have encountered at Waterloo. His enthusiasm helped to make each 3hr lecture fly by. He is extrememly knowledgeable and understanding. He is patient and always seemed to be available for help! Definately stands out above the rest! Cheers!!!!

Mansour is the man in that yellow shirt. He had great notes that saved me on the final. He made physics a fun and interessting class by teaching the class at a decent learning pace. He took the time to make sure his students knew what he was teaching before continuing. Saultations Firas!

Offers a lot of help outside of class -- and tries to make things interesting, with great tools to help comprehension, such as the water melon method, kids on a bus for relative motion, and lots of guns and projectiles. My favorite class.

Help sessions are great. They help strengthen what you don't understand in the lectures. A little fast in my opinion, but if you go to him during his office hours, he's willing to take it slowly one by one. He'll also help you until you completely understand. He also likes to talk about his cats!

Such a nice man, very entertaining and always willing to help. Consistently available and his weekly help sessions are good. But his notes are really scattered and puts 1000 formulas on the board while proving things without clarifying which formulas are used. Needs to do less theory/derivations and more examples. Pretty easy course though.

Very helpful prof and very fun. excellent use of "toys" but his notes and online notes are very messy and difficult to read. I used the textbook more than his notes because it's too hard to read/understand. He's a cool prof and his jokes and stories will keep you awake regardless how comfy the chairs are.

But i think he is a good prof because he CARES about his students; a bad exam doesn't mean he's a bad prof, it just means there's a lot of hard concepts. Just wished the exam wasn't so bad! Also his notes = hard to read at times.

Super Man-sour. He's the best prof I've had in Waterloo. He made engineering physics interesting to learn, and he takes the time to learn his student's name. His exams are pretty reasonable, considering we're talking about an university engineering physics course. I was considering switching into physics from engineering b/c of him!

Though the final was hard, I thought it was fair, since he told us a lot of what was going to be on it. Overall, GO TO CLASS or you will not do well. Excellent professor! Those who claim this past term's final exam was unfair were expecting cookie-cutter questions and aren't used to application and problem solving. True, it was actually quite hard, but it wasn't unfair. He is very accessible if you seek help, and if you do see him he makes sure you understand the material before you leave.

Best physics prof at UW. Fun, very helpful. Dont think Ive ever seen any prof soo willing to help. He discourages class notes based on his online notes, bad idea. Midterms destroyed the smartest of us, they are based on luck not skill, wouldve been better if they were not multiple choice, i know some idiots who got perfect after some good guessing.

Great Professor, great person and very passionate about teaching. He's also very funny and makes a lot of jokes in class. Encourages student to think and gives time for student to try the example question themselves before solving it. The only negative comment I have is that he isn't not very organized in terms of notes and course flow.

He's a funny and engaging prof, but the course is hard and he's not a miracle worker. You have to go to his extra help sessions, and even after that you'll still have trouble with the course.

Awesome prof! Very helpful - will come in on weekends to have extra help sessions. He's very enthusiastic about physics and his teaching style makes it easier to understand. His lectures aren't just powerpoints like other profs- he does examples and forces you to do work to understand =)

Best prof in the university and I've only completed one term so far. Examples are extremely well picked, and he makes sure every single student understands before moving on. REALLY funny prof and has hilarious stories time to time, attendance to his class was so high that engineers from other classes were coming to ours!!!!

Best prof i've ever had here at waterloo. clearly enjoys what he teaches, is enthusiastic about the class, and genuinely cares that you learn the material. Exams are hard, (especially the MT) but if you go to his extra help classes, he shows you how to do questions almost exactly the same as those on the MT and Final. GREAT CLASS and PROF!

Overall: pretty good. I wish he'd answer questions a bit more thoroughly when you're one on one with him. Also, it'd be nice to see the answers to old exams. Great sense of humour though, but also very challenging class.

Very helpful prof as long as you don't go to him right before the midterm/final. The midterm was bellcurved but I found it pretty easy. The course overall was not extremely difficult to pass, however it is by far the hardest course in 1B semester. Attend classes and visit his office hours if you need help (he is extremely helpful or so I hear).

Really enjoys teaching, as well as the material in the course. Cares a lot about the success of his students, including scheduling extra help sessions in the evening to help prepare for midterms/finals. Lectures are very exciting, and well worth attending every single one.

VERY VERY AWESOME PROF. He teaches the basics very very well, but exams are freakishly hard. He is really helpful outside class as well. He keeps your interest on a relatively high level. I'd say, one of the best Profs I've had. not "like a boss", "IS THE BOSS". nuf said.

Firas Mansour is the funniest and most lively professor ever. You will find it impossible to sleep during his classes. However, he does not explain concepts very clearly and goes a bit fast. The midterm was a disaster for most people, the final was a bit better, but no-one finished it. Very helpful prof though.

He is the FUNNIEST teacher in this university I think but not the greatest. He sometimes makes easy things confused and hard things not mentioned. That's why we always see people laughed in his class but when you ask them did you actually understand, they said no. Not good enough to be a "Great prof", but he is Good comparing with the other one

THE BEST PROF EVER! If you are in ECE and haven't attended his classes, you've definitely missed the real fun. Gives real life examples, believes in showing physics practically more than theory, helps you grasp the concept before stuffing you with questions. NO words, he's definitely THE BEST PROF!

great prof, this course isnt hard if you have taken high school physics. the midterm was easy and so was the final, just there was long and i dont think anyone finished. at least no one left early. love this guy as a prof. definitely take him if you have the option

Simply said, he's amazing. He'll make sure you grasp concepts before throwing questions at you. Make sure you go to his evening help sessions. They are real-exam material. Odds are you'll see something similar on the exam.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING PROF! He really took the time to help me and explain the concepts. He really went out of his way to help the other people in my class. Knows his concepts incredibly well, and if you have the chance to use the textbook he wrote, it is fabulous!

He is such a funny prof! He tries to make the class fun and entertaining by showing demonstrations. One time he accidentally set off the fire extinguisher! Final was so unexpected but thank goodness for the bell curve!

Professor Mansour's lectures are the most entertaining lectures I've had. He makes some hilarious jokes, and does his best to make the lectures worthwhile. The board can get messy at times, but if you pay attention, then you will be able to follow what he's doing. I highly recommend him if you take a course that he teaches.

He is the best prof at UW. He really cares about students- you can tell that he wants people to participate in lectures so that students learn better. The material is tough, but practice the problems he assigns and the you'll be tested on similar questions. He makes sure you UNDERSTAND, not just memorize. Get to know him, he is phenomenal!

Every lecture of professor Mansour is vast interesting due to the different perspectives from the easiest to the hardest that he gives to solve one problem. In addition, the availability of the professor outside of class was enough and he is always willing to help every student in their weaknesses and challenges in the subject or in their homework.

Such a great prof! Honestly so interactive and really cares if you understand. Super helpful if you take the initiative to go ask him questions. Also just an awesome and hilarious guy. I'll miss his class for sure.

He's a fun spirited guy and genuinely made you enjoy every physics lecture. He gives incredible examples throughout the course so that understanding the concepts are crystal clear. He's not strict and formal so he is very approachable and flexible as to when he can help you with anything. Had a one on one talk with him and he inspired me!

Expect no notes, he teaches how to solve problems, so most knowledge is taught during in-class examples or on your own. Highly recommend reading ahead by looking at the course outline. Other than no notes, prof is amazing, very helpful out of class, but the course is hard.

Great guy but his teaching style is a little unorganized. All he does is go through examples, but an upside is that he tried to make physics fun by sharing almost relevant stories. Has a lot of help session which is good if you wanted to actually learn the class material outside of class time.

I love how his explanations for key concepts in physics were so concise yet clear. People complain how his solutions to example problems are only in variables but tbh, you should've picked this up from high school. He also had weekly extra-help sessions which were really helpful where he solved pretty difficult problems.

One of the best lecturers I've had throughout university. So popular that people will often be standing at the back and sitting in the aisles of the lecture hall. Really passionate about what he does and making sure everyone understands how things work. Amazing prof.

Absolutely amazing prof. His constant jabs at students and comments about baklavas and his stories are great. He made every lecture entertaining and focused a lot on theoretical concepts which was great.

He's probably a little crazy but overall pretty good.

Amazing Professor loves to make classes interesting. Tells random stories about himself to get the concept of what he is trying to teach. I would love to take him up again for any other course in the future. The course itself is very tough and requires a lot of thinking.

Would definitely recommend! He's a great prof, explains the material well. Must warn you though, some people find his way of teaching to be unique and non-traditional, and hence end up not attending the classes. He explains the subject very well, and makes sure you understand why it works the way it is supposed to.
