Fell in love with her and her passion of English. There is a lot of reading and writing to be done, but in the end it's worth it, because you gain so much from all the work. If you want to learn something then take her. If not, take someone else. Hottie!

Mrs. Tamayo is an incredible teacher. Her intellectual manners and the way she carries herself is soooooooo sexy !!! Not a big fan of English but her teaching strategies make the class very enjoyable. Want to find out what you are really made of? take her class, she will bring out the best in you.

Okay, this is a woman's perspective. Looks aside, Professor Tamayo is an excellent teacher. However, she is not for those students who want an easy ride. She challenges you to think and write well---she does not give easy grades. So, if you want to go to a university and be prepared, take her.

Ms. Tamayo is one of the very few teachers that i would recommend. She has great essay topics; challenging but interesting. In her class you will earn the grade you work for.

Prof. Tamayo is actually a really good and easy teacher. She gives you a chance to improve your essay. GO to her Office and have her read and correct it, then retype it and submit the work. I got an A in her class, and the quiz's were really easy ?'s on the readings, (who, what, when, where) short answers.

She is a very good teacher. English is not my subject but i enjoyed it. The topics are interesting and so are the readings. Very helpful

She is not easy but she has prepared me for college. I am prepared to compete at a four year university because I know what is expected. She is not here to hold your hand and be emotional. She is here to do her job and she does it. If you are willing to work hard, she will help you.

Minimal guidance and feedback, good. 15 week semester condensed into 5 weeks, intense and challenging.

Online class. Very difficult. She is a great teacher, but this was definitely not what I was expecting. Way too much work. 6 essays plus 12 or so short written assignments. She will prepare you, however, it is just too much work for a semester class while taking a full load. Prob will get a C and I'm an A student.

The woman is a great Professor. I had her for a poetry class and she was passionate and engaging about the subject. No, she's not an easy A, however, if you plan on transferring to a University and continuing to grad school, what she teaches you will prepare you to excel at upper division work. English majors should take her classes for sure.

Professor Tamayo is a tough teacher and challenging. If you are serious about transferring to a four year college, take her class. If you do not like to do a lot of work then don't take her. She helped me a lot because I went to her office hours---she was very helpful!!

She really loves literature and poetry. She really inspired me in the class and I am thinking about being a literature major. Beware: She is a serious about her job and expects the best from her students so be prepared to work!

I need this class to transfer. It is a tough class but I really appreciate the feedback she has given. She also allows revisions on some essays. This is not something a lot of instructors do. This is an online class you need to be ready for a lot of work and a lot of reading!! If you do not work well independently, don't take this class.

Great prof. for Engl. majors who plan to transfer. She doesn't treat students with kid-gloves - actually has expectations of them. Not a guaranteed pass, and it shouldn't be. Highly recommended.

Course is tough, but you can make an A,- you definitely have to earn it. She expects you to write well, and if you don't, she'll be there for you to teach you how, but you have to put in the effort. A lot of writing assignments on the assigned reading. Overall, she made me a better writer and I'm thankful for that! I really enjoyed her class.

She expects you to work for your grade which is refreshing since I have seen too many teachers who just do not care and pass students just because they show up. She actually gave me feedback and was very clear about how I needed to improve my essays. This was very helpful. I feel confident that I can transfer and do well!

Wow! She made me love to read again and the stories were great. I really felt that I learned how to interpret and analyze rather than just summarize. She does give a lot of work but allows you to revise some essays. If you don't want to work hard, then don't take her class. But if you want to transfer to a 4 yearcollege, I recommend her class!

Professor Tamayo's class taught me a lot. Most important, I learned how to be a student which was not easy since I have been out of school for a while. Even though it is a lot of work it is manageable. She gave me a lot of good feedback on my writing.

I took Professor Tamayo online for Winter 2017. She may be a tough grader, but she gives excellent feedback! She is not the type of professor who will give you an easy A. YOU HAVE TO WORK HARD and contact her with any questions or anything that you need help with. Being in this class helped me improve my analytical and critical thinking skills!

I took this class during Winter break so it was tough. If you cannot dedicate most of your time to the class, I do not recommend that you take it during Winter break or summer break. Take it during the semester because you only have 5 weeks to get the work done. I appreciated the feedback and ability to revise an essay!

I took Professor Tamayo this spring. She provides great feedback but you need to work to improve your essays. I learned a lot!

The grading rubrics and she provides aren't just empty words, she grades very directly based on the rubrics and her feedback is always great. Follow her advice, pay attention to the instructions, and stick to the topic and your writing (and grade) will improve as the course goes on.

She is a tough grader, but she will give you the opportunity to rewrite your essays. The stories we had to read in class were really good. I recommend you start working on your assignment as soon as she gives them to you because they're long. I'm not a good essay writer and this class was a challenge, but I learned a lot. I would take her again.

Great readings and learned to improve essays!

Overall she was a great professor, she gave good lectures, explained topics thoroughly, encouraged questions, and she provocted great thought. The readings were a bit complex so be ready to actually spend time doing homework and annotating. I learned so much and would gladly take her class over.

Liked the essays a lot that we read. I was able to revise an essay which helped me get a better grade in the class. I will be taking Eng 102 with her because I really liked my Eng 101!

I took this course due to my interest in all things poetry. That was a MAJOR mistake. You will get TONS of assignments which is to be expected from an English course but I was not prepared for that and that's my own fault. Tamayo is a great teacher and she offers a lot of feedback. Listen to her and you'll pass.

Prof Tamayo lets her students revise at least 2 papers for a better grade. Most teachers never let me do that. She also met with me to review how to improve it! I had a good experience in her English 101/104.

Professor Tamayo is certainly a great instructor who remains fair in her grading and concise in her expectations. Her office hours are extremely helpful and she will elaborate on any questions and uncertainties. Assignments can be challenging at times but just make sure to read and ask questions, she may call on you as well during class.

All she wants you to do is to apply yourself. She provides honest and good constructive feedback if that's what you value. She assigns about 1-3 hw/week. You need to be a dedicated student to pass her class as it's honestly just organization and putting in the work. Not an easy A, you have put in effort and time. Good higher education preparation.

I took Professor Tamayo in Fall 2020 to transfer to UCLA in Fall 2021. I just finished my first quarter at UCLA and I have to say thank you Prof for preparing me for the rigorous work I am facing. UCLA is tough but the serious critical thinking and writing you asked of me completely helped me!!

Homework were short passages Q&A plus discussions Two quizzes simple Final was difficult She wanted 5 pages within 1hr 30mins plus quotation marks

I took this class for summer 2023 in five weeks. For a short term, the reading was not a lot compared to other classes. She provides all the information that you'll need for the course. Even though you might need a workbook you can pass the class by just doing the readings, and discussions. The class had 4 essays and those will be your grade

Professor Tamayo is a good professor if you are looking to refine your writing skills, but not if you're trying to get an A. Lectures were informative, however, her grading guidlines are unclear and her feedback is overly critical. I submitted a 44 word thesis, which she provided 260 words of critical feedback to which was not helpful in improving.
