never for any reason take this class... you will regret it
Carter expects a lot from her students, but if you appied yourself and work hard you will have no problems! Carter is an excellent professor. Any student who wants to learn take it with Carter!
she a good teacher i learned different things when i took her learned alot had fun and enjoyed the class. So alot of a hard classand you have to do college work so your in college alot of class are like that so quite winning .
Do yourself a favor and don't take carter.. She is not only the most boring teacher I've ever had, but makes you write long term papers and take tests over slides of old boring artifacts, building etc.. Worst teacher I've ever had.. If you have to take a humanities class, take the other guy.
It was a good class, Alot of my friend were in it so it flew by. The field trip to the Standford Musuem was very fascinating, and the books we read werent too horrible. this class really does open your eyes up. There were alot of responses, but they helped me learn hgow to write
very hard to stay awake in class. fairly easy, quizes are kinda hard. the final is a group speech.

Hated this class with a passion. So boring do not take her for hum 101. I had to take the class over again so if you really want to take Hum. 101 take Jack Suza very cool.
i missed class due to an illness and she gave me 0's on all of the inclass assignments that we had to do. the real bad thing is that she didn't even tell me that i was gonna get 0's on those assignments.

The worst teacher I've had at MJC, though in her favor I disregard some aspects of deep thought because you start reading into something more than the inspirator had intended. I do believe expansionary thought procedure is valuable but it should be applied to the future with regard to the past. Mrs. Carter has the hardest time maintaining a class and at the same time does not follow her 19 page syllabus... homework and quizs very easy if you read the text and take notes... overall the class is boring. C-
she is such a boring teacher. Her class is not that hard, but it takes a whole lot of human power to stay awake in her class. I recommend people to take a different teacher if you really what to learn.
I did get an A in the class but she is the worst teacher I have had...she is rude and will not explain things clearly and yelled at me the one time I went to the bathroom and told me not to come back....I do not recomend taking this class!!!!!
She is boring and doesnt know how to teach... I worked my ass off just to get a C-!! But overall she can be a funny goblin lol. I recomend dont take this class dont even...look at her lol
did not like the way she teaches at all..she has this crazy unorganized sylabus n is really unclear about wat she wants..shes boring n shes a lil airheady too..one good thing i can say is that she really knows how to make u think a lil deeper about art n stuff..dnt take her,lol!
carter is terrible! It is SO hard to stay awake in class and through the whole semester I had NO idea what in the world was going on becuase the syllabus doesn't make any sense. Even if it did, she doesn't use it. Save yourself! Run far and fast and never look behind you at this woman.
busy work
Mrs. Carter is a great teacher. If you listen in class and actually get in to the discussions, you will do pretty good in the class. I feel that because I spoke up in class, I got a better grade. The class requires you to go on field trips and to do outside work, but it is fun. I enjoyed this class the most out of all the courses I have ever taken.
I enjoyed taking this class with Flora Carter. True it was a little boring at times, but hey, it's a humanities class! You just need to participate in class a little. I got an A in both courses that I took with this teacher and would definitely recommend her. She is very kind and helpful.
She seems real sweet, I just feel, that shes been teaching it for so long now, that its become a boring ritual for her. Humanities seems like a real fun class, but to me it's basic common sense kinda stuff. Her teaching methods do need up dates, and the lectures can be boring, especially if its a hour and a half class of sitting and listening.
She is a very nice and well respected teacher..If your lazy do not take the class. It is very simple if you put a little effort like i did and i recieved an C:)
She is very nice but is boaring day after day it is nothing but power point teachings. she needs new methods. you do need to go to museums and plays it sucks. but she only takes roll the first week of school!!!!
If you want to sit back and do very little work for a semester don't take this class. Carter makes you work for your grade. You always have an assignment to do (some are easier than others). You have 3 BIG assignments that are worth quite a bit. Every class is a lec ppt. Somedays you just want to sleep; just don't let her catch you.

Do not take this teacher. I had her for the summer, and it felt like a regular semester. She is incredibly boring, confusing with her syllabus, and although she is nice enough, the class was not worth it. Spare yourselves, and do not take her. It was an easy class, but I will not take her again.
i enjoyed this class. yeah some days i felt like snoozing, but no big deal, it was in a lecture hall and kicking back wasnt hard. i would take her again.
You will pass the class with a C if you do the hmwk. She is nice and will help you. Class is a little boring tho
This is an easy class because the quizzes are online and open book, but the textbook seems useless and she is not clear during lecture.
She is very disorganized, she does not clarify with assignments, her lectures are lacking, she set up a mandatory field trip on a day when many people had other classes that they ended up having to miss (obviously this has a negative impact on their other classes), she seems nice but her class is definitely not worth taking if you value your GPA.
She's...A bit odd but very intelligent. Attendance isn't mandatory because everything you need is on WebCT of course it's good to show up in the beginning just to make sure. The class is boring actually because she likes to listen to herself talk but overall you'll learn a thing or two. As for textbooks, I passed the class and I didn't open one.
She is a little different, I didn't care too much for her class. She is very unclear about what she prefers, and seems to be disorganized. The class is easy only if you actually do the work. I got an A and didn't think it was hard at all. Everything is done webct which is annoying. The book is no good.
Her class is really easy. She doesn't take role in her class and all of her assignments are on WEBct. Its an easy A if you do all the work. The book was not really any help either. The book i suggest you buy for this class would be the complete "the art of being human", the class will be so much easier for you if you buy the complete unedited book.
She is unclear about directions sometimes. Questions on quizes are not always reflective of whats talked about in lecture.
HORRABLE TEACHER!!! Do not use this teacher, she was the worst teacher I have ever had. Her quizes don't mach up with the class material, her lectures are all out of wac, and the class is a hibrid class which absolutely sucked.
The material you have to study from does not match the quizzes. All quizzes are taken online. It was a very boring class, I didn't learn much. I never passed a quiz with anything higher than a "C" (and I actually tried!), it was very frustrating. Yet, I still passed with an "A". I SUGGEST TAKING CAROL CAMERON!
Seemed like a nice lady but the class was just dry and boring. My class was like 100 students packed into a small theater at the auditorium. Instructor was often confusing when trying to explain things to the class.
Terrible. I am not saying this because I am angry or bitter (I actually received an A). I am saying this because this class is terrible and she makes it that way. I suggest staying far away, you will be much happier by doing so.
I don't know what everyone is complaining about! I guess people think that college is somewhere you go just to nap and have a good time. She is an extremely kind, intelligent woman and I would take her again if I could!
I would never take a class from this prof again. It was not just me, the majority of the class felt this way. She is unorganized and unclear about assignments. There were several last minute assignments that required a lot of reading. I wrote more papers for this class than all my other classes combined.
Teacher is nice. She enjoys class participation. Compared to other classes this is an easy class to pass.There were some uncertainties about assignments. As long as you checked your WebCT regularly you wouldn't miss out of class assignments. She gives a bit too much info in the syllabus in the beginning which created some unsureness. Overall ok.
Horrible professor!!! I got an A in the class, but it was not worse the hassle. She had to explain assignments several times, in order for people to understand what she wanted. She continually changed her mind on specifics regarding work, for example, she would change the page amount on papers.
Extremely nice and caring lady! I felt she wanted to conversate more than teach, and was a bit boring at times however was not that difficult. Do the quizzes til you get the grade you want and you'll do fine.
Okay,maybe she likes to talk alot. The tests are online and you can view the answers after, and correct your test. I never went to class, I didn't even go to the final. I took the tests online and passed. You just gotta relax, even if she says you need to come, it's not true. I took her Mythology, it's an easy A but only if you attend.
Attend the class, do all the work, and there will be an A! She is very nice, and she doesn't grade hard, she wants everybody to succeed.

I had Flora as my world mythology teacher and I thought that she did a very good job. I thought she was very nice and friendly although her lectures sometimes were kind of boring. Lots of written assignments at least one page and a half analysis a week but the class was over all really fun. I learned a ton. Super happy I took the class.
She is extremely boring, people were constantly falling asleep in her class. It seemed like she was trying to make it interesting, but in a way that would interest herself, not students. the class is relatively simple, she says it's not a hybrid class, but it pretty much is. So, if you can't do online assignments and quizzes, don't take the class.
Pretty easy course. Some WebCT discussions. Quizzes are online; unlimited tries! One Events report. Up to 40 points extra credit. Lectures are a bit dull, but you can tell she tries to include audio/video clips to make it more interesting. She's very helpful when you need it. Attendance not mandatory, but you submit a 3 pt assignment every day.
I took her for HUM 101 and although she's very nice, her class is the most boring class I have ever attended. I would have to drink an energy drink right before class and drink coffee and chew gum during and still be falling asleep, along with everyone else. It's totally a hybird class and you do need to attend for points.
I took this class online, and the tests were VERY HARD! One good thing, you can take them as many times as you need- but assignments take FOREVER to get graded, and the class ended a week ago and im stil1 waiting to find out my final grade. The syllabus is SOOO confusing, and just completely unorganized.
Go to class, do the in class response, take the quiz online each week with unlimited tries, and maybe a chapter of homework and your guaranteed an A! There is a humanities report which is super easy, if u want an easy A take her... however, she can be kind of boring at times!
Definitely THE WORST professor I have ever taken. She doesn't make any sense. You hardly hear her when she speaks, she thinks she's funny but she's really not aaaand her class just sucks. Don't take this professor!!!

She is confusing and monotone for sure! Probably one of the most boring teachers Ive ever had, especially when teaching a subject that could very well be interesting. There is no class participation, just very weird individual assignments. Dont take this class with her.
The textbooks for this class are a must, you will need them to complete the many homework assignments. She is an easy grader, but her instuctions are unclear. All assignmets, quizzes, and midterms are on blackboard, and should be checked EVERYDAY!!! Class lectures are VERY BORING, but are semi imortant since she has you turn in topic responses
Overall, I like her because she is helpful and she tries to not be boring. However, she unfortunately is rather boring and attendance is a must because she has you do topic responses. She is nice though, and if you keep up with internet assignments should be an easy A. Quizzes can be taken multiple times, she takes the best score.

DO NOT buy the books for the class, I did and only opened them once. Homework and quizzes online, you can take the quizzes as many times as you want. Very easy class if you keep up with the homework. Ended up with over 100% in the class and I never studied. If you keep on top of the assignments and quizzes you should get and easy A.
She's a very sweet lady! And the class is an easy A, as long as you take the quizzes until you receive a good grade and turn in all your essays (which are graded pretty easy, as long as you put in some effort). Class can be monotonous at times, but she does her best to keep it interesting (by using videos, pics, etc).

Easy to work with
While she is passionate about what she teaches, she is very disorganized and does not explain the homework AT ALL. She often changes the routine leaving you with unanswered questions. I do not recommend taking her class. It is nothing but a headache that you can't get rid of.
Her class is so boring, I always fell asleep. Pretty easy teacher. Homework every week and quiz every other week which you can take multiple times.
She gives too much homework and it's time consuming and her class is pretty boring.
This teacher seems to try her best to connect with the students but ends up boring them. I feel bad for her because this is her obvious passion. Overall the material is interesting but there is no motivation to go to class since so much of the class is done on the internet, AND THEN IS NOT LISTED AS A HYBRID CLASS!
EXTREMELY UNORGANIZED & scatterbrained. The syllabus consisted of 4pages of info scattered thru the site, but there was no assignment outline. Altho the coursework was easy, she didn't list the assignments until sometimes days before they were due & I had difficulty to find the assignmnts amoungst the chaos! She shouldn't be doing online classes!
Great professor. She is very helpful and gets back to you if you have any questions. The quizzes are easy and you have multiple tries on each one, so there is no reason you should get a low score. The midterm and discussions might seem intimidating, but just ask for help if you need it. Very easy class if you try.
the class is so easy, but too many unclear homework. all assignment and quiz are online. unlimited quiz, so its easy to get A. If you take this class make sure don't take any other class because each week you have write 2 paper about 500-700 word and good luck with her unclear assignment. Also you have to go to theater, museum for the report.
I took this class online, and she make me so confuse with her unclear assignment. it took 4-5 hours to do her homework and it is 500-650 word. she post them on Monday and want them on Thursday. it is easy A to ppl, who just take this class and don't have anything else to do.
One of the most confusing teachers I've ever had. Lectures are long and usually not related to the class. Talks about herself often. Tests don't relate to material assigned. If you disagree with her viewpoint, your answer is wrong. Choose any professor except her!
She assigns A LOT of homework. You have it every week along with quizzes and the deadlines are short. Expect to have no extra time when taking this class. She is also very unclear when lecturing. She's very dry and boring. It's very hard to stay awake in her class. You basically have to teach yourself and be prepared to read a lot.
The subject was very fascinating &truthfully, I wish there was more time do learn about myths. She would post things the night before at 8-9pm &wanted them to be done before class. A lot of reading. Subject: interesting. Class: not interesting Teacher & Blackboard: disorganized Would take again only with a different professor. Kind professor.

Taking online class and assigns to much works, she basically gives us two midterm essays. Every assignment has like a thousand rules to follow on it. Would not take her class again. Really stressful and takes the material too serious while we are just taking it for CSU credit. Hope she reads this and takes it in consideration.
She's an alright professor. Not overwhelming at all. Just show up for the comments you have to make in class that is based off the readings, and do keep up with the work online. In fact, the online work is easy because it's your opinion, and there's no right or wrong answer. The quizzes are multiple choice too.

Flora carter is a very nice professor however she's is the most unorganized professor I have met, the assignments she gives are never clear, she goes off topic all the time during lectures, her due dates are ridiculous, and she uses class time inefficiently. If you can withstand teaching yourself, and reading heavily you can pass her class easily.
Definitely worth a consideration! Professor Carter is amazing. Her teaching technique is great, allowing her students to explore the wonders of Mythology. She is very kind and helpful. She is always willing to see her students after class and replies to emails rather quickly.
I do not like her teaching style at all. She is extremely unorganized. I am in her actual class, so I am not sure how her online class works but from what I have experienced of her Canvas knowledge, it is not good.
Took her summer class, and surprisingly not bad! Reading these reviews made me anxious, but when i took her class i actually liked it. It was very easy and she was very understanding. Not only that she offers extra credit and will find out how to work with you and not against you. One downside is that her homework and quizes are vague, but easy.
she is very spunky and enjoyable. connects to students well. she knows what she's talking about but has a hard time relying that and being clear about homework and quizzes. pretty unorganized but just ask questions to clarify and you'll get though her class just fine. pretty easy all around and not too much homework, just be sure to do it.
This class is nothing that I imagined. In this class, the students basically teach the student by doing "gist" on sections of the book and presenting it to the class. The professor is not much help, she gets off topic easily and can easily snap on her attitude. I really don't like how she is not organized when it comes to assignments. Don't recomme
Long lectures, expect to be in class from start to finish and not one minute earlier for leaving. Does offer a good amount of extra credit. A LOT OF READING. Overall good
Carter's a sweet lady and very helpful. It is a hybrid class so don't slack on deadlines. I found myself dozing off during lectures because of the dim lights and comfortable seats. Offers a good amount of extra credit. The class does require a good amount of reading, but nothing out of the ordinary.

She was very nice but was not very clear with instructions. The assignments are pretty easy once you understand them but most students were confused before asking multiple questions. Sometimes she would say some things but expect the exact opposite which made me very frustrated at times.
Her class is fairly easy and enjoyable if you are someone who manages your time wisely. Professor Carter's assignments were actually pretty interesting and helped you understand the subject with better clarity. The only thing I disliked were her deadlines for certain homework assignments and readings, which were managed poorly.
1 book to buy, available used from many sites for a very reasonable price. Participation required on Zoom she does not make you turn your camera on just your mic. Weekly assignments, a mythology paper and an essay final. Plenty of extra credit, very accessible through zoom/emails. Be willing to put in the work and you'll pass with flying colors!
this professor and class frustrated me to no end. professor carter is unorganized and difficult to communicate with, assignments were unclear and confusing at points, and the entire class revolves around "gists" that you must present to the class. it felt like i was the professor, not her. but, the class is an easy A.
My only problem with this professor was that there were many issues with technology and links she provided. Other than that I had no complaints. She is very easy going and as long as you do the work you will pass with an easy A. She does tend to get off topic, but that because she is so passionate about what she is teaching.
Professor Carter was one of the best Professors I have ever had at MJC. She is very understanding and wants to see her students succeed. This mythology class has been my favorite class ever and I 100% recommend taking it with Professor Flora Carter. You can expect to write summaries every week of the material you read as well as "takeaways."
I do not recommend: (1) lots of busy work; (2) 'lecture slides' are of poor quality, with numerous broken links, inaccuracies, etc. Mostly bling, little substance; (3) we are graded on our comments on slides and our comments on others' comments. Generally a good idea, but given low quality of slides, not so much here; (4) very little feedback.
Her class was an easy A and none of the assignments were incredibly difficult. My only problem is how unorganized she was. It made it so you learned almost nothing in the lectures. There is just very little depth amongst any of the assignments in the class and I walked away with basically no new knowledge on the subject.
Guidelines and instructions are so hard to follow, and god forbid you try and ask her about it. Classwork was overall easy, but the lectures and discussions assignments seemed pointless and hardly felt like I was learning anything. Most of the class felt like busy work and the work that was assigned felt theoretical, meaning what could, if, "think"
There was a lot of busybody work. Weekly homework and quizzes were easy, but she was not tech-savvy and lacked the persona to captivate a class. Directions were all over the place. overall I got an A but would rather have missed the lectures and done the work on my own as I didn't learn anything.
So much workload for no reason. Expect to spend lots of money on this class from wrong textbooks, mandatory trips for finals etc
Mythology is an easy subject but she somehow makes it so difficult and draining. The instructions are very vague and she is a tough grader. She does offer extra credit and do every single one. The class can be pricey from the textbook and museum writing project.
