Poison Ivy: she seems so nice, but she doesn't adequately prepare you for tests.
Nice lady, fun class, I saw her in a bathing suit! She looked nice!= Good class
Mme Poindexter is one of the sweetest people you'd ever want to meet!
She's great-really made me want to come to class and easy despite other opinions
nice lady, class is easy, very little work outside of class
GREAT LADY-- FUN CLASS--- TAKE IT WITH HER!
She was a very nice, sweet lady, understanding, made french bearable
easy class, very nice, good teacher but doesn't always prepare you for the tests

YOU DON'T LEARN ANYTHING. TAKE CELLI!!!!

A surpurb teacher
Nicest Prof ever! Take her! talks to herself in french, but its funny
Real EZ; Shes kool; not to hard on the eyes either ;-) her accent MMMM!
really great prof., kind and understanding. Take her for as many french classes.
Comon take the class, its not that bad, seriously
a great teacher, nice and very helpful
parlez-vous francais? you will after taking her. great woman , fair, understanding, very nice
Good Teacher and very helpful
Wonderful and caring professor. I was intimidated by french all through high school but she acutally got me to love the language so much that I'm going to France for a year after graduation. Au revoir!
The sweetest teacher ever! I love her! Can't wait to go to Martinique for study abroad with her! Her class is fun and not too hard. She is very flexible with assignments and fair grader. If you can take her class- it was my best class this semister!
Great teacher, very understanding & helpful. Always willing to adjust her schedule to accomadate students & doesn't have unreasonable expectations. Great person & fantastic teacher!
Very nice personality, but really didn't learn much. If you get her, make sure Kpota is NOT her TA! Kpota doesnt understand English, grades incorrectly, treatens a zero for challenging her poor adding. Learned nothing this semester and was a waste of $
A pleasure!! Easy to talk to, even easier to learn from. All foreign language teachers should be native speakers! Highly recommended!
Madame Poindexter is a great professor, and I highly recommend her. She was so nice, extremely helpful, very lenient and so understanding. If you can, definitely take her for as many french classes as you can.
Madame Poindexter is great! This was my 2nd semester with her and she is still helpful and accomidating of your schedule and due dates. Test are somewhat hard, but they are not made by her, so can't hold it against her. TAKE HER CLASS!
one of the nicest teachers ever! ok.. the quizzes and tests are hard... but the writing assignments, etc are super easy. her TA, Santiago, was a jerk - but she's the sweetest woman ever! i know no french and still got a C! if she likes you, she'll curve.
worst professor ever. she's good for the lower level french classes but is an idiot when it comes to literature. she is definitely biased and certainly grades papers that way. she tested us on things she didn't teach. i will never take her again.
Ms. Flora seems oblivious and ditsy to everything and she is! I failed like every quiz and test and got away with a C. Plus she's hot. She talks french 92% of the class period but is very caring and generous with her grades.
Very nice person, but doesn't really know how to teach. Tests are really hard, but she never really explains whats on them.
my friend and i had a great time in her class Ok the tests are a bit hard but she is a really good teacher and very hepfull
Take her class! she is one of the nicest and best teachers I ever had! I loved her class and learned a lot. And she is hot!
she is awesome. gives extentions when you need them!! she is such a sweetheart. if you are taking 211 i highly recommend her!
flora is perhaps the nicest, most gorgeous professor at UD. every guy who ever takes her class wants to marry her.
J'aime Flora, je n'aime pas francaise. Very helpful prof and a liberal grader. Take her for French!
ok i don't speak french, AT ALL! but i pulled off a b- in this class...i failed my midterm and she let me REDO it. i love her, and she's the only reason i could've PASSED french
I had her for all three of my french classes. Nicest lady ever. She will do anything to help you out and make sure that you understand and can be successful. Very friendly and funny. I highly recommend
Flora is an extremely lovely and wonderful teacher. She strives to assist as much as possible and will give you a good grade so long as you just try. You will not find a more helpful and kind professor on campus.
Great teacher ! very helpfull, motivates students. I loved her class!
By far the most lovely and genuinely caring professor I've ever had at UD. She's a very fair and flexible grader (giving students the benefit of the doubt if they've never taken French). She teaches appx. 96% of the class in French with emphasis on culture. J'aime Flora :)
shes awesome. She really focused on what french people ACTUALLY say and not what the text book told us. She really works with people to help them really get it right. Im really glad I had her class and Im glad I have her for 106 too.
TAKE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN!
love love love her! She's super sweet and really just wants to see you learn and do well. She's a flexible grader who really cares about her students and French. Take her as much as possible.
Amazing !!!! absolutely amazing teacher and class. She is so laid back. She work with you. i had no French experience and got an easy A. just do the Quia work and study 30 mins before quizes you will be good.
She's the best teacher ever!! i took 105 and 106 with her and i got B+. she gives you easy quizes. also, she will tell you what's on the quiz or the midterm. i recommend her on all classes
Great teacher. an easy A+++++++ with her.
She is an easy and very good professor, but make she takes on too many sections. My class was half ta and half her, which was awful. Hated the TA as she hated us. Make sure its only flora. Don't do the hw cuz they dont check it...waste of time.
I love Flora so much as a professor. She is so easy to understand and always covers everything thoroughly that appears on tests and quizzes. She usually reviews before them. She has funny stores and is really concerned about her students. I had no prior french experience and came out of the class with an A. It ended up being my favorite class!
Such an enjoyable, upbeat person. Makes classroom very fun, relaxed atmosphere. She'll do her best to help you understand without simply saying it in english. Prepares you well for exams/tests. No need to do homework, never checked. Pretty easy A and fun class. I'd definitely recommend her to anyone
Grades easily. Class is somewhat boring because all you do is sit in a circle and talk about a French movie you've watched. Teaches and gives instruction all in French so sometimes it's hard to understand her. Very nice teacher and wonderful lady though.
I like her a lot, but she moves rather quickly sometimes. The homework doesn't really help too much, but she goes over what the exam will cover before you have to take it.
The NICEST woman ever. So sweet and approachable. Frequently asks if anyone needs help and offers out of class help. The class was kind of rough, but if you have to take it, try to get her. She'll help you through and you definitely get the feeling she WANTS you to succeed.
Madame is so sweet! However, I sat in class and did not understand most of what she said because she speaks entirely in french, and my french was not as strong as I thought. All in all, this is an interesting and easy elective because I somehow got an A.
Very sweet and understanding. Doesn't force you to speak in class if you're uncomfortable. Tries to stick to the syllabus but often changes due dates and mentions these changes only in passing so I would definitely be comfortable with French before taking this class. Overall an interesting, and not too challenging course.
Very sweet and understanding. Doesn't make you speak in class if you're uncomfortable. Mostly tries to stick to the syllabus (does push back due dates, so listen up in class). Various short tests, about four 1 and 1/2 page papers. Be comfortable with french before taking this class. Pretty easy A though.
AWESOME PROFESSOR. if you are a beginning french student try to get her. makes french so easy and teaches social french not formal french. if you plan on studying abroad in a french speaking country take her. she knows alot about mannerisms and the culture. very understanding doesn't take off points for absences (as long as you have and excuse)
Very sweet and helpful. I loved my class with her!
I love Madame Poindexter! I had never taken French before and she was very helpful and generous with her teaching. Understands that learning a language is hard and her grading reflects that. She emphasizes French that is actually spoken by native speakers and not just textbook French.
She taught us aspects of french that is not learned in textbooks. I feel like I learned an authentic french from her. Such a nice person, definitely recommend her.
She's very sweet. I liked taking her class, but her grading is inconsistent with what she asks for and never says when assignments are due (they're rarely on syllabus). Participate in class and don't miss a lot and your grade will be helped. I got a B+ over all, but thought I deserved higher with the crazy amount of work/time I put into it.
The class isn't as structured as the syllabus would lead you to believe, but I still learned and really like Flora. She was helpful when you had questions and was flexible with due dates. Make sure you keep up with the workbook activities though: they're worth 15% of your grade but she never says ANYTHING about them in class.....
She is a great teacher however you never know what your grade is because she does not post on sakai. She allows you to make corrections on exams and written assignments and it is a pretty easy course. Lots of group work. Only allowed 4 skips but email her a reason for absence and she will excuse it. Take her!
Madame Poindexter is extremely cute and lovable! Even if you have zero interest in this class you will love going bc she is so open, approachable, and encouraging. An excellent introduction to French by a native speaker.
One of my favorite professors at UD. So helpful and the nicest person you'll ever meet.
She's an awesome professor. She's never cares when you turn in the homework, just as long as you turn it in at some point. Tests are very easy if you participate and do your work and follow the syllabus. I think a lot of freshman don't understand the importance of the syllabus so they end up not getting the grade they expected.
Madame Poindexter is the sweetest lady. She is SO kind and helpful. I had her class 3 days a week at 8 am and I didn't mind going because she is always so nice and happy. I took this class my first semester freshman year, so she was one of my first ever college professors. If I can have teachers half as great as her in the future I will be pleased!
I loved this class! Everything was clear, just make sure you keep up with the homework on the syllabus. You can hand it in whenever you want. but she won't announce it. Tests were very fair, and overall I really enjoyed this class. Would recommend Madame Poindexter to anyone!! Such a nice lady and great at teaching!
Madame Poindexter is the sweetest person and a good French teacher. She puts the homework on the syllabus but never asks for it so just turn it in when it's due. She lets you do rewrites on written assignments and her tests aren't too hard. You work in small groups almost every class and for your oral presentation.
Super nice. Sensitive to those who havent taken french in a while. Buy all the books, show up, do the homework. Lots of group work in class. Exams are fair but weigh heavily on your grade. Oral exam is not stressful. She provides great feedback. She virtually never calls out people in class, so if youre shy she's a great prof to take.
Prof. Poindexter is very nice and understanding. There is very little assigned homework (online Heinle). As long as you study the vocab on your own, you can get a good grade. Often she will have graded classwork (10pts), especially when attendance is low, so come to class. The exams aren't bad, and the oral exam was easy. Take this class!
Such a nice woman and is super passionate about her work! You don't have to submit the online homework on time but make sure it is done before each test (thats when she grades the hw). Participate and come to class because she assigns group assignments that can improve your grade.
liked her as a teacher, but she needs to realize this is 105, not a 200 level class. basically from the beginning starts speaking in almost all french, because thats her first language. for first time french students that is hard bc she doesnt translate what shes saying back to english.
She was a kind professor. I took this class over winter, so the material was condensed. We had a partner presentation, one oral exam, two written exams, and weekly quizzes. There were also in-class assignments. Attendance is mandatory, at least for winter session. She wanted me to succeed.
Flora is the sweetest lady. I haven't taken french before but I found it to be pretty easy with her. She's a native speaker so she also fills you in on proper french culture which is really cool and her quizzes are very straight forward. You should participate in class; it'll really help you on the exams and with pronunciation.
Poindexter is super sweet, she makes this class really easy. I took french in high school so it was an easy A but it would be easy if you've never taken french before either. Make sure you get a textbook, you'll need it. All homework is online and easily done in 10 minutes.
She is so sweet and I'm very glad I got her as my professor for fren since I'm just taking this as a language requirement, I love my class. Tests get harder and harder. Attendance mandatory. Very bad at putting in grades, mistakes a lot of grades and it'll take weeks of asking her to fix it before she does which can be very annoying.
She is a really nice teacher. I love my class. It is easy to get a good grade in her class. I haven't take class before, so French is hard for me. She is helpful.
Take if you need a language as a requirement, as I ended with a B- and never knew what she was saying. Her class consists of mandatory attendance, easy online homework, few written homeworks, 3 exams, a project, and an oral final out of class. pretty easy but never really explained what we were learning in class so never get much out of this class
Flora is a great professor, she is super accessible outside class and very flexible with making up missed assignments, exams, and compositions. She is a fair grader and wants to see her students do well.
Poindexter was great. Never took French before but she makes the course easy and is always willing to help. Show up to class and pay attention and the homework will be a breeze. Attendance counts towards your grade but you do get four excused abscences. Very flexible and kind.
This class was fine. There were a few group projects throughout the semester in addition to many small assignments. She was a fine teacher, but honestly not great at communicating. Assignments would just.. appear on Canvas with no annoucement or mention in class sometimes. She's good though, super nice!
Flora was such an amazing Professor. She cares so much about her students and it really shows. She is very understanding and a fantastic woman. The only thing is that she is quite literally impossible to access outside of class. She never responds to emails. But this was still the best class despite that. Highly recommend any class with her.
Madame Poindexter is great. She isn't a great grader, and doesn't give a lot of feedback on your quizzes or writing assignments. However, if you pay attention to the readings and lectures, this class is an easy A. Make sure you get the textbook, she uses it every class. Don't bother emailing though, she will forget or not respond.
She's really sweet and, but the class is chaotic. We never follow the syllabus and sometimes assignments are posted without her saying anything, but as long as you check canvas regularly you should be fine. I would definitely recommend her for any French class because she's super understanding and doesn't make you feel guilty about wrong answers.
Added her class a week into the semester. Zoom link on canvas/syllabus took me to an empty room (even after 20 minutes). Marked absent, so not sure where I was supposed to go. Never responded to emails about attendance or homework, so I dropped the class to avoid an F. She's probably great in-person, but I wasted $200 that semester.
I took Madame Poindexters class over winter session and I highly recommend! She is super sweet and encouraging and it was great learning from someone who lived in France and knows the culture. Theres an easy presentation at the end of the semester and we moved through material quickly, but she was always willing to answer questions.
It's a fairly easy class except it can be stressful because this syllabus and assignments are not straightforward. The professor doesn't really answer to emails so you have to catch her right after class. Her lectures are entertaining and for anyone that is passionate about learning French you will love her take on French culture.
Dont buy the physical copy of the textbook, the online version is just fine. Poindexter is very easy going and makes beginner French fun to learn
She is nurturing and very positive. Has adorable lectures and good knowledge of French Culture. Ask questions during class about assignments if your unsure that way you won't miss any hidden assignments.
Professor Poindexter is a great professor she is so sweet and kind. She is very passionate about France countries and the language. She is very understanding of sickness and other things that come up. Let her know a day before class and she will excuse you from the days' work. The attendance is mandatory but does not affect your grade.
Her class is the BEST, she always lectures in French (most of the time) so it's something to get comfortable with; it's helpful because I never had much experience with general conversation, therefore, it's also good practice of asking and answering questions in French. I did a lot which helped my brain to improve on listening.
This was my best experience in a french class. She was so sweet and really cared about your success. Attending every class is very important as you get graded for participation and in class assignments. If you go to class, participate, and do the assignments, you will be fine! So many in-class grades that exams are not going to make or break it.
The majority of her lectures were spoken in French which can be scary at first but it honestly helps so much with actually learning. Sometimes she was a little scattered or would spring an assignment or due date on us that wasn't in the syllabus but honestly it was a very easy class as long as you participate and attend class
Wonderful professor!! Super nice and accommodating but also very knowledgeable and eager to help her students improved.
Such a sweetheart! Majority of the lectures are spoken in french which was alright for me since I had taken it in highschool, but it could definitely be a bit jarring for people new to the language. There's a bit of homework and the textbook is pretty much mandatory, but she's so kind and funny, loved her!
I love Madame Poindexter so much that I hope to study abroad with her. While she doesn't always let you know about assignments, but the assignments are generally easy and helpful. She is also from France and makes sure to incorporate what people actually say in conversation (even if it contradicts the textbook). She is such a great person.
She's the best if you are learning French for the first time! I did know a smattering of French before coming to UD but she helped me learn it again (from the basics!) - participation & willingness to speak up does matter here! She was extremely affable and despite knowing her for one short semester, I would definitely take a course with her again!
If you're learning French for the first time, she's amazing! I'd say active participation and a willingness to speak are important in her class, and she creates such a welcoming environment and she takes the time to respond to doubts and queries. I'd definitely take her again!
Madame Poindexter is a wonderful professor who makes learning French fun and engaging. While she may not always be the most responsive outside of class, her lectures are entertaining and extremely helpful. unstuck ai was a great study tool alongside the textbook for this course.
