Dr. Apostol is a good professor. He has his PhD in Physics, so he knows what he is talking about. He is personable. He sticks by the syllabus, and so covers a lot of material. His tests aren't too hard, and he doesn't require you to turn in a lot of homework. His lab report expectations aren't bad. I would take him again for physics.
Do not take this professor he speaks a geek sqaud language. He is not clear and when he explains things he does not keep it simple he speaks quadratic physics in his romanian accent and does not realize none of the students are employed with NASA and dont understand him at all. look for another professor trust me.
Do not take! to hard to understand and does not explain concepts very well.
Great professor. He really knows his stuff. Makes it simple to understand. Do the homework, and if you really understand it, the tests will be a breeze. Lots of chances for extra credit. Labs are super easy.
Dr. Apostol is a really good instructor who is very passionate about physics. He does have an accent, but he is very understandable. You get what you put into the class. Study, do the homework & make a good effort, you will do well. He's available & always open to questions. This is basic physics, not rocket science and he understands that.
Great professor. Really knows his physics and very passionate about it. Really wants his student to succed and understand. If you dont pass, you can only blame yourself.
Very interesting class. Must attend class if you want a good grade. Teacher is very helpful and passionate about the class. He wants the best for all his students. Great professor, TAKE, but commit to studying and doing homework problems.
Really good and fun professor, attend the class and study, he gives good reviews and if you study the problems he shows in the class, A is a must!
Dr. Florin is an amazing teacher. He has a passion for physics therefor he keeps it very interesting. On top of that he genuinely cares for his students, and there success. Keeps everything consistent no surprises. Jut pay attention, do your HW, and study his notes, and your sure to get a good grade.

Dr. Florin Apostol is very passionate about physics, you can tell he loves teaching. Really wants his students to succed. Patient, understanding and funny, he sticks by the syllabus. You will learn more than just physics in his class.
Many of the students griped about him but admitted they would take him again. Physics isn't easy, and there is no way for a legitimate Physics class to be easy. With that being said, Dr Apostol is as good as this subject gets.
Apostil is the single worst professor Ive ever had. Do not take physics with this man. He is also straight up rude. Take physics anywhere except on the north campus!
Best core science class I've had in years. Professor is very easy to follow, gives lots of examples, and is enthusiastic about the subject. He keeps the experience, strengths, and weaknesses of his class in mind and tailors the exams and quizzes accordingly. As long as you do your work, it'll pay off. Very receptive to questions and loves to teach.
As good as any physics class can get. Loves to teach and willing to go above and beyond for his students. Exams are not difficult if you do your work and you even have opportunities for extra credit. Pulls lot of examples from real world scenarios and current events. Very positive and thoughtful. Gives lots of feedback.
Study. Do the homework and focus on the problems he does in class. If you focus on those problems you will do fine. Labs are easy. Lab reports are easy.
Must do homework he assigns and practice over and, over like,he says until,u solve problems with out going, back, over how u did it. He will only test u on what he gives in class or,homework. Easy A in labs! Class participation points. Quiz day before test over conceputal question, provided! Easy A if u practice until u got it!
Dr. Apostol by far one of the best prof. in FSCJ. Focus on the HW he assigns and the word problems and concepts he goes over them during the lecture and you will get an A. He is very passionate for teaching and he loves what he does. He help his student a lot and very fair grader. 4 Tests, no finale, 4 quizzes which is a week before each test.
Loved Dr Apostol! He genuinely cares about his students and wants you to succeed. Physics is tough and he knows it. Do all the HW (its graded & helps on exams) show up to class and do not miss any labs or quizzes and you will do fine.
Tests are easy to pass if you can do ALL the homework. To do the HW you will need YOU tube tutorials. He doesn't go over the HW. He works out a few HW problems as class examples. The rest - GOOD LUCK. TAKE another teacher or you will be teaching yourself . It can be done, I made an A. I worked REALLY HARD to teach myself the material.
He gives the class conceptual questions for the quizes. During lecture pay attention to the problems he puts onto the board, you will see those and the conceptual questions on the test!! learn that and your golden. He gives extra credit if you attend class and if you do the review for the teacher.
He is an awesome professor. He is tough but very helpful. Easy GRADER!!! Pay attention in class. The problems he does in class are the same that are on the test just different numbers. The quizzes are from the conceptual questions he posts online. If you show up, pay attention, and try you best you will pass. Definitely a hard subject but he's good
He has a love for physics that shows so clearly. His lectures are difficult to get through because he only does 3 or 4 problems for the 3 hours you're there. Explains lab once then expects you and your group to figure out the rest. You NEED the textbook for the homework. Tests are STRAIGHT from the homework questions he does in class.
Overall really awesome professor! The class isn't easy, but if you show up and put effort in you will likely pass ! He truly cares about you as a student.
Dr. Apostol, has a very clear and easy curriculum to follow. He provided all the material needed to study for our four exams via BB. Homework was lite compared to my other classes. He includes his student when teaching his material, with hands on demonstration. He has a relaxed and funny way about him, making the class time fly by.
LOVED Dr. Apostol! Any interest shown in his class & he is so generous with his time. He wants his students to understnd the material&d will put in the effort when asked to repeat himself. I actually loved the fact that he teaches a variety of things that explain the world around us. Very funny and kind, my favorite & truly an excellent teacher.
Nice guy. Just completed his course last semester and I got an A! Still have to work for your grade, but he gives so many examples in class that you are guaranteed to know the material- unless you just don't do the HW or show up to class. All in-class problems end up on the test so pay attention! Extra credit on every test. Final is non-cumulative.
He is one of my favorite professors! He is passionate about what he teaches and is always willing to help you and open to questions. The class consists out of 4 tests and lab practicals, and a quiz before each tests. Everything that is in the homework you will see in the test and pay attentions in class! This is Science so you have to study.
I enjoyed Professor Florin Apostol class. If you show up for class and study the book than you will pass. Expect 4 tests, labs and quizzes. The homework is very similar to the tests. I will be taking Dr Apostol again in the future, he is a great professor.
Very long lectures and very difficult to get through. When I did the homework at home, I was completely clueless. If i didn't use tutors and study groups every week, I wouldn't have passed. Hes a good person just not the best at teaching.
Very difficult and very test heavy
Dr. Apostol's love for physics is inspiring. His expectations are clear: 4 tests, 4 theory quizzes (the day prior to exam), Labs on Wed. DO THE HOMEWORK, not only is it graded, but if you understand the homework, you will easily pass the test. Gives partial & extra credit on exams and lectures are easy to stay attentive in.
Powerpoint for lectures. Labs are about once a week, but a written lab report is only required twice--the rest of them are a participation grade. Homework is due day of the test. Some of the questions on the test are based from the practice questions. If you do that, the homework, and powerpoint it's pretty easy. He never lets students out early.
Passionate about physics, Dr. Apostol enjoys teaching. If you do the practice questions, homework, and study the powerpoints it's an easy A. If you are having trouble understanding something he will take the time to explain it to you. He cares about his students but you must put in the effort.
Very difficult class but totally worth it! Dr. Apostol will challenge you in ways that will help prepare you for more than Physics, but also for tough classes in the future, especially if you are a science major. Hang in there, don't get discouraged, show up to class and you will pass! His teaching style is hard to comprehend, but he cares a lot.
Tips to pass: 1)Always show up to class. He lectures exactly what will be on the test and can skip sections in his own slides. He also does homework questions in class 2)Always do the optional practice questions. They make up most of his multiple choice questions on tests 3)Know the parts of the formulas/measurements! ex: mmass(kg), ttime(sec)
Proffesor Apostol is great. His lectures are very interesting. Pay attention to what he says in class; most of the examples will be in the quizzes and tests. Expect 4 quizzes, 4 tests, labs, and assignments from the book. Dont hesitate to ask him any question. Hes always willing to stay after class and go over the assinment problems with you.
Professor Apostol is a very good and thorough professor; study time is necessary in order to earn a A in his class. His test are hard but very double as long as you study and do the homework.
I took professor Florin Apostle for both physics 1 and physics 2 and i recommend him for both! professor florin is caring and really makes sure you understand and know your stuff. his class consist of 4 test with quizzes on the class before the test and Homework. i wont say its easy but it is definitely do-able. You will actually learn.
Hes a good teacher and really cares about his students and wants them to succeedHowever, hes so incredibly irritating. Easily the most annoying educator I have ever encountered. For exampleyou miss class he will ask the whole class why youre not therebut he will accept all your late work. Its really a toss up. Hes really great if youre patient
He seems like a great teacher and tries to interact. He gets incredibly off topic to the point where it is extremely annoying and we waste our time talking about other stuff other than physics. he last two tests he has rushed through the material and so you arent able to study fully. Learn his board work for the written part of the test. Good luck
I took Prof. A for PHY 1&2. Yes, he can get off topic, but he knows students by name & his side notes allow for you to tie in real world application & stay engaged in class. Labs/HW are weighted well to help w/ 4 exam & quiz grades. Be COMFORTABLE w/ "Quick Checks" and HW, you'll do well. **TIP: Take notes on test review day & ASK questions.**
Everything Dr. Apostol does in the course is with purpose. He ensures the success of his students. Homework is a must, as it does pull the understanding of the material together. He is generous in grading the exams. Exams are noncumulative, that's the best part! You don't have to revisit old problems from previous chapters. Last test is the final!
He is a very fair grader and very clear on the material that you will be expected to know. He is very passionate about physics and likes to derive the equations that you use, but he gives an equation sheet for each of the exams. I would highly recommend taking his class if you are willing to put in a little bit of work!
Professor Apostol is a very good professor, passionate about physics and he sincerely want you to do well. He connects materials with in class problems and the real world. If you follow his intructions, and pay attention in class , you should do well in his class.
He is very nice as a person and loves his subject but I wouldn't take him again. MC questions are really hard and where you will lose most of your points on the exam. Practice the board work for the written part. He will call you out if you aren't there or have to leave early.
Back in school after 30 years, full time, this class W/ A&P... extremely challenging. Physics was A LOT of hard work for me. Used tutors, studying or doing homework 15+ hours a week. I ended up loving the work and it paid off. Professor was caring, funny, accommodating, will help as much as you need so you do well, passionate about physics.
Doctor Apostol is a very smart professor that makes sure you understand physics. Its a very though subject and its like nothing you have ever encountered before ( unless you had intro to Physics )please get ready to use the book and know it inside out. The professor is available if you have questions in class and at his office. Would recommend!
I highly recommend Dr. Apostol to any enthusiastic student who actually wants to learn the material. He cares about his students passing and only asks for you to do your part and put in effort in class, on homework, and tests. If you do everything you are asked and engage with the professor, it will be the easiest class to pass.
Do as Professor Florin says: i.e.: Do the homework which is the practice for the test you will pass. There are plenty of homework questions that he gives that help with the tests. I would take Dr. Florin again. If you pay attention and participate he will appreciate it very much and interact with him. Come to class prepared to learn.
I would recommend this professor to anyone who need to take PHY1020C. He is very helpful and understanding. Come to class, work hard, act like you want it and anything is possible. He is so caring and his class is easy going! you must study!! He is a good hearted, funny, inspirational person. He does give extra credit. Thank you professor! :)
This class is not an easy A. If you want an A you will have to work for it. The best way to do well on tests is to READ the chapter and master in-class problems for the test. Overall he is a good guy and good professor although he WILL call you out for not working hard, not showing up for class or texting during class. SHOW UP FOR EVERY CLASS.
Took Physics 1&2 with Dr. Apostol. HW & in-class problems help a lot on test. HW is 10-13 problems per ch. He is VERY clear about test prep/expectations. Yes, you need the book! Participation & attendance/timelines are important, extra credit may be offered if you participate and show up! I didn't like physics much but I did like Prof Apostol
I took him for Physics I and Physics II. Very nice professor, very passionate about the subject. He's determined to make students understand. He gives clear expectations, and an extra credit opportunity at the end. You can do well in the class as long as you pay attention during lectures and do the decent amount of homework! Not a hard class.
He is a fun and genuinely cares about his students' success For a professor to teach the same thing over and over, the difference is the students He wants his students learn about Physics because he loves it Interaction is highly encouraged Take good notes because many concepts in class are on tests and quizzes. Not much HW but its on test
The fact that some people rated this teacher good blows my mind. Its not the person he is its the way he teaches. Every time I go to class I feel so lost and if youre already bad at math Im here to say RUN. He doesnt make himself understandable when teaching math and expects us to know how to do homework and labs.
I learned nothing from this professor. Only that he thinks he's a great professor, "cares about my students", he developed his brain learning a language, the time he flew out of Miami to go to Turkey, never been to Africa, other random stories that were irrelevant to physics. Mandatory attendance with this class is a waste of time.
Its a good thing I already knew physics before taking him. That's all I'm going to say.
I agree with those that gave him a 1.0 rating. It's best to already know Physics before you take this class because he will treat you like you should already know it. This class was a waste of my time and gas! He constantly rambled about his personal life and about how great of a professor he is more than teaching physics. I regret taking him.
I took this class as a hybrid due to Covid circumstances. I thought this class was fairly easy to comprehend despot never taking physics before. He is a professor who does his best to relate to his students , passionate about the topic and teaching his students. Do your part as a student to be successful in this class. (i.e. do hw, take notes)
Easily one of the worst professors Ive ever taken. He rambles really bad. He doesnt respect his students as adults who pay him to teach. Lectures are a waste of time, a lot of us cant afford to waste this much time every week, and I cant believe its mandatory to attend during a pandemic just so we can hear about his life.
He overexplains to the point were you are more confused after. There were 5 people in class and after the first test he told us "3 of you I was very happy with, 2... not so happy with" and described 2 of us who did well. He expects you to know everything but still treats you like a child. Always late but chastises us for being late. Infuriating.
Definitely a professor that is passionate about his subject. Watch the videos before class cause class builds on the videos. There is a lab each week and its due within a week. Three tests for the whole semester, he provides the equation sheet and the homework sets you up for the test. You can miss class and survive but it's best to attend.
This instructor tells you how to solve the problems you are presented and the different approaches for it. You are supposed to read the text in tandem with the in person lectures, but he presents the information in such a way where you could get away with just attending the lectures. Very fair tests, and interesting classroom dialogues.
I'm warning future Student to not take this professor. Half of my classmates failed because he is not decent at explaining things in English. I studied day and night literally 30Hrs a week. His exams are difficult and Tricky, and you read his questions a million time before solving be warned. Be Prepare to spend all your day outside with tutors.
Dr. Apostol was a great professor. He taught the material really well. If you are not into physics but have to take this class as a requirement, take this class. He made this information incredibly interesting. He is also a great professor if you already love physics (I was one of those). He will give greater insight on the subject. Great class.
Dr. Apostol loves physics and you can tell he loves It. But It is a general physics 1 course. He lectures thinking that you should already know physics. When you ask questions he will make you feel very dumb and say "we've gone over this topic multiple times". I wish I didn't take this class. If you are bad at math do not take this class with him.
Very passionate about the subject but I can barely understand him, his English is very poor. He is very lecture heavy and the there are 3 test which are really tricky. Also there is no study guide for the tests which is a big deal to me. Overall nice guy just hard to understand 3 tests 3 hw assignments and group lab every week which isnt to hard.
I had never taken physics before and Professor Apostol made it interesting and provided plenty of examples. Do not miss a class, material is presented clearly step-by-step so take good notes. Tests aren't too bad if you put in the work and study the class is not difficult at all.
Made Physics 2 fun even though it is a hard course
This professor genuinely cares about the subject he is teaching. His excitement for physics is clear and his eagerness to share it with his students is refreshing. He was always willing to answer any questions or help with concept understanding. The homework assignments may seem lofty BUT they are good practice for what to expect on the exams.
Professor. Apostol is one of the best Physics instructors at FSCJ. I took his class at the FSCJ North campus and I really enjoyed it. Even though I had a family emergency and couldn't keep up with some of the assignments, but he was supportive and allowed me to make up for them. I would definitely recommend his class to other students.
Professor Apostol is very fair. There is no curve on exams, but frankly, if you attend class you won't really need one. Most of the class is problems, with concepts being shown in them. Exams are fair, challenging, albeit easier than the assigned homework, which I think is deliberate. I actually waited a year to take this professor again.
Overall, he is great. He is very clear on what he wants you to do for the labs and tests. He goes over problems a lot and walks you through them slowly so you can gain understanding. Physics as a subject can be intimidating at times but if you pay attention and do the homework and test review, you should be fine.
Will make you re-do labs until you get them right. Keeps the students engaged during lectures. There are no crazy surprises on the tests. Highly recommend.
He loves teaching and wants students to learn. Attendance is not mandatory but doing well on his tests requires following along with every lecture carefully. He is big on concepts and will test these as heavily as the problem-solving. He is a fair grader and always willing to help. Do HW early and participate and this class is very do-able!
Cares. Show up to class and do your homework, the tests look exactly like it. You'll get an A. He likes to chat in class, which bothers some people, but the material isn't intense so you'll be on pace regardless. Take it as a chance to check your phone if it bothers you. Bring a graphing calculator if you're shaky on math; you get a formula sheet.
This class is taught as if you already know physics. He doesn't have the patience to explain things you are confused about, just gets frustrated that you "aren't listening to the question". We've had 3 people withdraw this term and were only a month in. Pros: grades work on time.
Before taking any physics class, I highly recommend relearning the basics of Algebra. Apostol is heavily educated in physics. He'll answer any question I have about it, both relevant to the class and not. His tests are very balanced. There's labs once a week that you have to write a short paper for. Highly highly recommend.
Great professor!!! Don't be persuaded to avoid his class by the people who rated him low. Those who say he talks too much don't realize that he is incorporating his lessons into stories about daily life in order to make it more understandable. He chats, jokes, and tells stories to liven up the class and encourage participation. Know basic math!
Take this professor!! He really cares about his students, and is a very understanding person if you are running late or can't make it. Will give extra credit at end of term for participation and attendance. 3 Tests (including final - not cumulative), 3 HW assignments, labs every week that are easy. If you are lost, don't be afraid to ask questions.
Professor Apostol knows how to make the lectures easy to engage in and inspires students to become fascinated by the physics of everyday life that is always happening around us. I was always excited to go to class! I would absolutely recommend this professor to future students interested in excelling in physics.
Physics II with Professor Apostol was my favorite. He cares about each student's success. There are no impossible exams only to be saved by a curve. Professor's tests are fair, similar to the HW, and have a formula sheet. If YOU put in the effort—understanding concepts, reviewing prior to labs, and thoroughly completing HW—you'll be successful.
Professor Apostol is an amazing teacher! He is enthusiastic, curious, and hilights the importance of learning at a deeper level, rather than just receiving a letter grade. His syllabus & expectations are very clear & he is a generous grader: he gives bonus points on his exams. Show up for class, do the lab reports, and take interest where you can!
Prof. Apostol is very engaging. He learns students' names & really tries to get to know each one! He tries to make physics interesting and applicable to everyday life! He has a wealth of experience teaching and it shows. Attend the classes, take notes on the lectures, do the homework, and make an effort to study and you should pass without issue!
Cares about his students' success & does his best to help wherever he can. Lectures on Tues. Pay attention & take your own notes. Every Thurs was a lab/experiment. I found the labs very fun/enjoyable & looked forward to attending them! Compared to other courses I've taken, this 1 is very easy to do well in. Would def take another 1 of his classes!
He has a deep understanding of the subject and explains complex concepts in a way that is easy to understand. The lessons are well-organized and engaging. He is approachable, and always willing to answer questions. If you do the homework you will ace the tests. This is college physics of course so don't come expecting a free A.
he's a nice guy that's passionate about what he teaches, however he tends to be condescending towards students (in front of the whole class) that don't know or get something wrong and he also veers off topic a lot, I wouldn't take him unless I had to
I feel incredibly fortunate to have had Mr.Apostol as my teacher. He is not only knowledgeable but also genuinely passionate about what we are learning, which makes it engaging. Mr. Apostol goes above and beyond to make lessons relevant, incorporating real-world examples to deepen our understanding(this helped alot). I highly recommend him!
Great teacher. As long as you do the work he asks you to do, you'll be fine. The homework assignments help a lot for the test. Lectures are easy to understand too. Would highly recommend.
Wonderful professor who cares about his students. He grades quickly and fairly and tells you exactly how to succeed. You'll learn a lot too. Highly recommend this class.
This professor is a great choice because he genuinely cares about your work and academic growth. While his assignments may be challenging, this is because he wants you to develop critical thinking and skills that will benefit you long term. His commitment to your success makes the extra effort worthwhile. you will like him and enjoy his class!!!
Overall, a great professor. It's very clear he has a love for learning and sharing that knowledge with others. Show up to class, pay attention, do your work and you'll do fine in the class. If you're not attentive/frequently miss class he will definitely make it known.
I will give it to him he is very knowledgeable about physics, but his language barrier makes it very hard to understand. He expects you to already know physics .He writes problems on the board and just works them out with no explanation. He also will call you out in front of the whole class if you are not doing well in the class. RUN FAR!!!
Awesome professor! He's passionate about physics and it shows in how he teaches. He makes real-world connections, cares about your success, and makes labs fun. Tests and homework are easy if you study. He provides the tools you need to succeed. Even if you struggle, if he sees you're making an effort, you will be okay. Study and show up.
Took PHY2053C and PHY2054C with Dr. A. Expectations are crystal clear; 2 quizzes, 3 tests, 3 sets of hw (30 or so problems per test), 10 lab reports with a makeup. If you come to class and do the hw (problems and quick checks) - you can get a B, learn how the concepts interact, you can get an A. Do HW sooner than later. Extra Credit available.
He is an amazing instructor who roots for the success of his students. Makes a real effort to know each student by name and calls them by their names, His lectures are very accessible, and he often used the lab portions to give the students a practical understanding before talking about new concepts in lecture.
Having nearly flunked out of this course at a different university, I can say with complete faith that Professor A is a fantastic physics professor. His passion for physics is very evident in the way that he lectures. At times he is blunt, but he cares enough that he gives you extra practice and help if you put in the effort. Take this class!
When I tell you,Professor Apostol is an OUTSTANDING professor, he's very articulate and keeps us on our toes with every lecture, he cares about his student's success greatly at a point he clearly states what would be on exams or quizzes. This class is very clear 3 test,2 quizzes and there's about 10 easy labs. ENROLL,you will not go wrong with him!
I will always recommend him to teach Physics at FSCJ. I took Apostol's physics class in 2022; he is great. His lectures were clear and he gives his real-world stories. His stories helped me make sense of difficult concepts and you could just feel his passion for physic. I will always recommend him!
Professor Florin loves what he gets to do and it shows. Lovely class Best physics professor ever hands down
He is AMAZING!!! his lectures are great and we're always laughing in his class. He really does care about his students and want them to succeed.
He's funny, engaging, and incredibly intelligent. Gives an example of the expected formulas before each lab. Wants each student to be involved. Care, show up, don't use AI instead of learning.
He thinks everyone has a desire to be a physicist, while the truth is most of us are taking his class because we have to for our medical career. He gets off topic nonstop, reads off the powerpoint the whole class instead of teaching. The tests are hard and in order to pass, get ready to self teach yourself.
Amazing professor! He's engaging, funny, always willing to help, and makes physics so clear and enjoyable that time just flies by in class. He explains concepts using real-world examples that make everything easier to understand and more interesting to learn.
If you're scared of physics, TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Absolutely one of the best professors I've ever had. Physics can be intimidating, but he breaks down every concept in a way that actually makes sense. So you learn the WHY. Tests are fair and lectures are engaging. I went from being intimidated by physics to enjoying it. He's definitely the best!
Dr. Apostol is an engaging and dedicated Physics instructor. He's always prepared with real-world examples, clear grading, and thorough lectures. Attendance matters, so be there! Charismatic and personable, he learns every student's name and truly cares about our success. Attend regularly, study hard, and you'll thrive. This was my favorite class!
Professor Apostol is incredible. I came in intimidated and unsure, but he broke physics down with patience, clarity, and laughter. He met me where I was and sparked real understanding and confidence. If you put in effort, he will genuinely change how you learn. Don't miss out - he's basically the centripetal force holding the class together. ;)
