Professor Martins was a great teacher. Although I will not agree with the previous comments about this class being easy. He is a very fair professor. What you do is what you get in the class. You MUST take notes and attendance is mandatory. He is very knowledgeable in all aspects of history. I recommend his class if you want to learn.

Professor Martins I found you!! This professor is beyond amazing. For such a boring subject, I was never once bored. You really need to take GOOD notes and review them. There is just the midterm and final. Studying for this class is a breeze as long as you know what you're doing.

He's the best professor I've taken in college so far. He makes everything interesting and actually inspired me to be a History major, that being said however, you must attend class and take notes. Professor Martins is AWESOME! His lectures are extremely interesting and fun. It's the one class you can't wait to go to. He's funny and goofy and knows his stuff. If you go to class and take good notes on what he says you'll be set. There's only a midterm and the final, and they're based straight from the key terms in the book and your notes.

EXTREMELY HELPFUL. this guys really does care about you and whats going on in your life, and he'll do anything to make sure your semester goes smoothly. you are given everything you need for the midterm and final and those are the only two exams. So basically, show up to class with a notebook and a smile and your good to go.

Great professor, Must attend class because you miss a lot of notes and test terms. Only a midterm and final. You are allowed to use notes on exam. This is one of the best professors that I've ever had, he is hilarious, he knows his history and loves his students. he is really caring and tries to do everything in his power to help you. Not an easy class, lot's of note taking, it's all about your notes. Literally. Professor wants you to write EVERYTHING he says,( Hell, you get graded on it!). In the process, you'll develop calluses on your hands as well as your brain. Turns out, speed writing notes improves you somehow. Only two tests but you have to prepare for it, Meticulously.

Professor Martin is crazy! I laughed/learned so much in his class. I hated anything that has to do with the history of things but he changed my perspective. When I signed up for this class, MDC had not yet assigned any teachers.. I got SO lucky that I ended up with Martins. He makes what could be a potentially boring class very interesting. No bland PP lectures, one mid-term, one final, & 5 pg min of notes per class. If you show up and pay attention it's an easy A. (Plus he lets you use a cheatsheet!)

Get ready to take notes, He will be expecting around 8 pages of notes per class. But I promise if you do those notes and you study the terms till you know them by heart. You will pass his class. Lecture heavy but you wont wonder off, he keeps you very engaged.

Professor Martins is one of the most passionate professors I have had at MDC. His classes consist of students taking notes constantly about his lectures. The gist is to take as many notes as possible. It may seem tough but is actually a pretty easy and effective way of learning. The notes for each class and two tests will make up your final grade.

I had the pleasure to take Prof. Martins's class ONLINE and it was one of those classes that I wish I took in-person because how much more I would have been interested in the class seeing him in person! His audio lectures are heavy but you work for the grade you deserve and he recognizes and helps those who is willing to put in that work.

I took his class in summer online due to Covid, so he was definitely more lenient to us, but his class will mainly consist of super long lectures in which he will go on numerous tangents and will expect you to take really good notes on the lecture. Despite that he is still possibly one of the smartest, funniest, and most awe inspiring people ever.

Honestly whoever complains about this professor, is simply just lazy. The ONLY thing we do is the lecture notes. You learn from it. And yeah it can be heavy, but its only once a week. It requires as much time and effort as any other class should. He is a great professor, gives great examples, and honestly, an amazing person overall

Do not overthink this class nor be overwhelmed- its a different style of learning. Prof. Flynn will send recordings of lectures & YOU TAKE NOTES. Text book Is not necessarily needed- though there are a few pages he will assign test questions off of, but 90% your grade will be based of your notes from his lectures. You will learn a lot!

He makes sure that if you try then you will succeed. if you love good teachers and interesting subjects then he is the professor for you. he is not hard at all just try your best and you will have fun.

Hes a great professor, passionate about what he does and is more than willing to help you at any point no matter what time it can be! His lectures are lengthy and require detailed notes that are submitted each week and at the end of the semester altogether as well but its definitely worth taking his class, hell help you no matter what!

It's important to understand his teaching methods and he is open to talking to his students over the phone or through email. He always keeps his word. You will learn a lot about learning techniques and note-taking. If you talk to the professor often he will teach you many things about learning that will stick with you as you continue learning.

At first, I thought taking his lecture notes was agonizing. Later on, I was actually learning and ended up loving his lectures. He's super sweet, even showed us how to get the textbook FREE. No other hw besides lectures, they can be long and he goes on many tangents and wants notes on ALL of it, just stay on top of it if you take him in Summer.

I took this course during Summer 2021, and It was intense but very much worth it! The Professor is truly on your side and wants you to pass. The course is VERY lecture heavy and there is a midterm and final exam. As long as you study and and put effort into the course I believe you will . Summer is VERY condensed so keep that in mind :)

The professor has shown us how to get free textbooks through Openstax and as well from other places. And getting Microsoft Office on the school website. Besides that, he has been such a wonderful person really no joke i didn't pass the class yet he still is in contact with me and still help me with other class. YES his lecture are long.

I'm just preaching to the choir here but he was an amazing professor, I learned so much from him. He was very caring and the class was very easy. You have to take a lot of notes but I personally didn't mind it.

This guy is amazing me and my boyfriend took him and he lectures make hi classes very interesting, the only thing that matters are the notes. If you fail the midterm or final it won't mattr if you have good notes which is mega easy. 10/10 professor he also has an awesome personality.

I took this class in 12' I had searched him to see if he was still teaching at dade bc I wanted to email him. he was an amazing professor. I also took him for WOH2012, as an elective. I left school & now I'm back in nursing school. I remembered him bc I'm struggling w/ studying & he had the best advice always. I will NEVER forget him and his class

Took him for a six week semester easy A. he's a little bit strange but he's a nice guy. if you do his weekly notes hell pass you even If you fail the tests. honestly a good professor overall.

Take this class. Yes it's a lot, and a lot of writing but the Professor teaches such valuable skills that few Professors I've taken before have taught me. He doesn't only teach you history in such a fascinating manner but also gives you invaluable life lessons that you can carry on outside the course. One of the best Professor's I've ever had.

MDC Live. Write lots of notes for the lectures (everything he says, no matter what it is). It's VERY easy. Attendance not mandatory, but you have to watch it on your own time. Notes due at end of semester. Final is easy. No textbook; he sends you the vocab you need for the final. Write the vocab on a page for final which is only fill-in-the-blank

I took Professor Martins for AMH 2020 online and it was the best class I have taken so far. The lectures are always interesting and informative. Make sure to take your notes because they are collected once the course ends. I 10/10 recommend anyone who needs a social science credit to take AMH 2020 with professor Martins.

I haven't taken his class but I want to know if he prepares you to pass the new requirement to complete the Florida Civics Literacy Test. Can't believe how they keep adding more requirements for graduation.

Professor Martins is a great teacher I never in a million years thought that I would care anything about a history class. He made the class so fun and interesting. He's funny, smart, and caring. I can go on and on about him. He is the best teacher at Miami Dade College.

Very interesting class to take, every class you will learn new things. The only thing you have to worry about are midterm, final, and notebook. You will pass and enjoy this class if you just spend time to work on the notebook which is the only assignment, and study for the midterm and finals.

professor martins is a really good one because he helps & students when they don't understand anything and he's always responding to outlook emails quick incase of you have questions about anything and on the notes take notes on everything he says because its very important .

Attendance wasn't mandatory I took him for Fall 2022. Tests were proctored and there was a lot of homework it was all based on his lectures. You had to take notes for homework.

Prof. Martins IS THE GOAT! Such a smart and funny guy. Grading is based on the notes you take from the lectures and the Midterm and Final (Both proctored) but he let us use a cheatsheet. He is a little intense while lecturing, lots of information and you have to keep up with typing real fast. Records every class. TAKE HIM you won't regret it!!

Professor Martins is the G.O.A.T. on knowledge of the subject matter. The way he keeps the information/classes engaging really stand out amongst other professors. Be warned, you will take a lot of notes. I clocked in at 32,000 words. But don't let that deter you. Take this class, you will learn a lot and come out of it a better student. 5 stars.

Online course. Attendance not required because he records all classes, and you can go to the recordings and take notes at a later time. Camera and mic not required. We spoke to him via Zoom chat, and he has conversations with us during his lectures. He asks questions, keeps us engaged. Friendly, caring, he will help you. Great class, pick him.

This was honestly one of the most kind professors that I've ever had. I learned so much in this class and I was able to pass. He responds to emails quick and he does not give any homework.

Professor was really kind and the lectures weren't boring. They were really interesting. I only watched the recordings but he recommends to attend live the first few weeks. Really kind towards grading. Grade = full notebook (16wks,typed), midterm, and final. It's really easy. Allows you a one-page cheat sheet. If you do the notes, he'll pass you.

If you're lazy avoid taking this professor. This is not a "hey google" course. You have to take notes throughout the entire lecture with no visual aids. I love his approach to teaching the material. As long as you do your notes you will pass with at least pass with a C. The concept is not hard at all some people just choose to make it a problem.

I wish I could have taken him for a longer period of time. I took him for a mini course and regret it. He tries to remain unbiased while giving you the material. I actually dislike history and almost didn't graduate HS b/c of it. I scored an 88% on his midterm. If you're willing to learn this is the prof. for you. if not? choose someone else!

Best Class Ive Ever Taken.

I took professor Martin for my Freshman year. He's one of the best professors at Mdc. His teaching style is amazing, as long as you take notes you are guaranteed to pass his class. There are 2 Proctored test but he does allow you to have a "cheat sheet."

I do not like American history at all, but this professor made everything so fun and clear to learn. He also was very fair with the grading and made it as easy as possible for us to achieve the best grade possible. He is an amazing teacher that truly loves what he does. I would 100% recommend him to anyone.

Classes where very interactive, He tells you everything that will be in the exam and randomly chooses 50 for each one, on the two exams. Great professor, checks on you for progress often and helps you out a lot.

Flynn Martins was a great history professor. He taught me a lot more than just history, which we all know could be a bit much sometimes. Very respectful with each of his students, very willing to help every student with any issues pertaining to the class and even some personal issues. Would definitely take his history class again.
