If you read it is a relatively easy class.. does take attendance but interesting
Class is tough. Lots of notes. Rude Teacher.
great professor - interesting class, make sure to show up and do the readings
Better to read on your own instead of going to class. Very confusing and boring
cool teacher but very boring, tests are really hard, lots of notes, takes atten
Very hard, tricky tests. Otherwise interesting!
hard, demeaning to students, tests not from notes/book
if she doesnt say it....its not on the test.....go to class and u will do fine
Unorganized..tests ARE tricky, but if you study, you will do ok.

Can't explain the info in order for class to understand it..Her tests suck, she can't even figure out the correct answer when we are going over the tests after they have been graded!!!TESTS attendance!!!
Extremely hard, not helpful, very rude to the students, jumps down your throat if you're late, tests are horrible, reading assignments are horrible. Should not be teaching.
Worst teacher I have had at UNCC...should be teaching Freshmen at high school level
I wish i would have never sighned up for this proffesor. In one class period she said um and oh, more than 50 times and i stopped counting half way thru class. She sucks!!!!
Easy class. yeah, she does speak in monotone but she really is an intelligent women. Test come straight from reading in the book. If you complain about the test being unclear or too hard she'll try to change it.
Bad teacher! Soooo boring! Takes attendence (only reason I went to her class) Tests are hard...words somethings weird. Doesn't really try to help you if u need help.
She's like britney spears, looks good but awful to listen to
Not that great to listen to but if you show interest in the class then she'll bump your grade up. Not nearly as bad as the other reviewers would have you believe.
fair with grading so far and is pretty patient with some of the "dumber" students
the worst teacher ever...soooooooo boring. made nothing interesting except for the fact she was somewhat hot. girlfriend sat in front of me

Slack teacher, unorganized, tricky tests
Boring subject, but goes over everything that's on the test the class before. Don't listen to all the cry-babies. Read the stuff, use common sense, and it's not that hard. I'm not the most studious person and I'm probably going to finish with an A.
She is a very intelligent woman. She knows the subject, and how to rely it to the class. Her test are based on the reading assignments. If you make the effort to talk to her, she will find time to help you. I found the subject very interesting.
really enjoyed this class
she's ok and she's not. she never really smiles and since most of the material isnt all that interesting, that makes you not like her. but, she has essay ?s you turn in for an easy grade. tests arent that bad and she'll give you credit for participa
Go to class, get her outlines. She goes over EVERYTHING on the tests. Not that hard. Pretty boring though.
RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!1
She sucks! She is the worst teacher. Bland, automated and dull. RUNAWAY!
pretty easy if you keep up with the reading and outlines
she is a cool teacher. gives you an outline, just follow it and read! you should be fine. she goes over the review before class and gives you the answers to questions you don't know. i like her she was cool!! take her, even though it was boring sometimes
Class was interesting but it would have been better if more classmates would have contributed. I really liked her presentation of Jainism
real easy class all u have 2 do is show up and read
she is absolutely amazing. She really knows her stuff and encourages students to use there minds, which I think confused a few of my classmates and anyone else who didn't enjoy the class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! Clobal Connections with a religious base is not only about Indian cultures!! I hated this class. Very boring, very dry, not interesting as it may seem. She has a weird sounding voice and always takes attendance. RUN NOW!!
Very easy teacher. Strict on attendance, but the class is easy...just read and copy down her study guide and you'll be fine. Don't think she's boring at all.
Very very very easy class. She is quite friendly, but comes across as kind of flakey. Alright for an Intro level class, but still seems a little fresh as a professor.
She is a newer teach, but very good, knows her stuff. The topic she teaches is controversial, but she handles it well. And she is pretty.
A delightful professor...
This class is really easy. As long as you answer the questions on the study guide you can ace the test. She goes over most of the study guide during class.
pretty easy
Easy Class! But there is an attendance code.
She is an awesome professor..as long as you go to class(bc she does have an attendance policy), take good notes and answer the study guide questions you will make an A. She is very sweet and knows her stuff. No papers, just tests and the final is not cumalative, its on a book.
Tina is the best professor in the theology dept. not to mention the only one that is cool..seriously, she's cool and funny, keeps the classes interesting and helps when you need it...
Not too hard, interesting topics - I signed up for another class with her
Hated this class and teacher. strict attendence policy, tricky test questions and boring lectures that lack structure.
Easy class, boring (but nice) teacher and lectures.
She is a very good teacher. She gives you a study guide and as long as you do it you will ace the test. Her lectures go along with the reading so the only way you could say it was unstructured is if you didn't read which is your own fault. take this professor.
If you like reading, more than I do you'll like her. Tests are from the reading, 50 MC questions. The final is NOT cumulative but a paper or something on a 500 page book. If you don't mind reading 20-45 min after each class, you can't go wrong.
Good general info about major world religions. She is obviously about indigenous religions, loves to talk about the lakota sioux? Major rels such as Judaism and Christianity are lost to her but she gets the basics. Attendance is important, and she's really weird about keeping track of her tests. Easy if you just listen to the lectures.
She was interesting, fun, and it was an easy A. If you go most of the time and pay some attention, it will be really easy. Over all a great professor.
More work than a lot of people are used to. Lots of reading, interesting class. Great lecturer, interesting most of the time. Attendance is taken.
good class!
Do the reading and you will get a B or A. there is also an attendance policy.
I loved this teacher and her class. The subject matter is very interesting and she really gets you enthralled. Yeah there is an attendance policy, but you need to be there anyway if you want to do well. Just take good notes and you'll do fine. Great class! I would take her again in a heartbeat!

Course was on the dull side, always powerpoint lectures. Would personally recommend another instructor for this course as she focuses on remote cultures of random peoples rather than major ones which have relevance. Does take attendance. Tests come mostly from lectures.
It was an extremely boring class...had to take it. But she's pretty nice. She always smiles in class and asks if anyone needs help. Lectures are boring and long, but the tests are multiple choice and okay, if you've done the reading. Its a sucky class, but if you have to take it, I suggest her.
i would not take her class again, personally i would choose a different professor.
A lot of reading in the class but it was all on the test anyways - if this was my major I would probably take another class with
Helpful as can be, and mad hott!!!
Easy class if you come to class info from lectures mostly on the tests.Class discussions pretty fun.
Man this class was seriously great sleeping time, I learned alot through the reading but The class was really boring. Oddly enough I slept better in class than in bed and often had dreams. The book assigned, "poison wood bible" was really good and she cares about the subject but the class seems to drag on. She is hot
This is a great teacher and I have enjoyed the class. The only "problem" is that our class is so into the subject matter we end up talking about the same thing too long and getting dreadfully behind. But really, is that so bad?
Great teacher, class was SO easy. Read the text to do good on the in class essays that she gives the questions to a day or two prior. Class was boring at times, but oveall all great class.
Readings are okay, and is assigned about every class. She is nice and always smiling. :) which some professors seem not to do. Class is not bored if you pay attention and listen.
the best prof. at UNCC by far!she is easy on the eyes as well....
Solid knowledge of the topic. Plan to be involved in the class, as that is one of the best tools she uses to teach. Tests are based on lectures and textbook reading.
She always goes on tangents but the class is really easy. There is no textbook involved, only online readings for each class. She posts her powerpoints online and the exams are off of everything on them. Very easy class and she is an easy grader as well. Would definitely recommend taking her !
Easy professor, I have had her for two classes, and they were both easy. The material is interesting, and she is concise. Her tests are kind of difficult, but she gives you a study guide with everything on it beforehand. Overall a very good professor.
This teacher speaks very knowledgably about the subject matter. She is enthusiastic, interesting, and effectively evokes class discussion. This is a reading intensive course, participation is very important, and attendence is a big part of your grade. I have learned so much interesting things from this course, and I highly recommend it.
Selected readings were relevant and highly interesting. Tests were essay with some multiple choice. Essay questions were thought provoking and pertinent. Class discussion was lacking, the students were reluctant to open up, but she still tried her best to engage them. Sunny disposition, always upbeat and smiling. Highly recommended.
Love the disussions. Posts notes which is a plus!!!!
Awesome teacher, if you get the class talking many funny discussions will ensue. Overall if you take notes, show up to class and pay any attention you will enjoy the class and your grade in it.
Attendance is mandatory. She is pretty nice and posts power points online. She also gives study guides for the exams which are very helpful. She is a great professor. If you go to class and study for the exams you should be fine!!
Awesome
She is very passionate about what she teaches, but all notes come from power points which gets a little boring. Some of her test questions come from random things she says during the lecture, so print out the powerpoint and write down extra stuff she says. Class is a little hard for it being a liberal studies class.
I think she's an excellent Professor, she teaches well, but sometimes I feel like she's not actually teaching but giving a speech, throughout the whole semester it made me feel like I was in a speech class, but to do good in this class just READ, READ and take good notes! Then you'll do fine in it.
At times it is a little hard to grasp everything she's talking about, but the articles we read are very relevant, and usually solves that problems by putting things into context. You seriously need to pay attention and take notes to get an A on her exams though, as some of the things she talks about are not mentioned in the power points she posts.
Extremely boring and tedious class, but an easy A.
I thought she was super boring. The material in the class was boring and she did not make any effort to make it more interesting. She takes attendence every class if you miss 6 classes she automatically gives you an F. Her tests are ok if you read the stuff she assigns so its easy to get a good grade. But you'll die of boredom in the process
SOOOO boring. I feel like she is just pulling these STORIES out her butt. I sleep everyday. Tests are confusing bc she always as ayll the above or none of the above. Its all MC though. Wouldnt recomend her. She litterally chased someone out that left early. She is HUGE on attendance! Global connections :(
Attendance mandatory. She teaches well and emails you everything you need to know beforehand on assignments. Study guides and extra info always posted on moodle. Gives generous extra credit. Easy A grade if you come to class. Exams straight off study guide.
Easy class if you keep up with the readings and the lectures.Attendance is mandatory but it can help your grade if you show up. Allows participation but the down side is some of the ridiculous comments that certain students make.
she is a little emotionally unstable. she chased a student down the hallway when she had to leave early. she has had several class interrupting rants going off on students. she has zero tolerance for extenuating circumstances for missing class, and gets upset when people go to the bathroom. craziest teacher ive ever had
I came to class, sometimes did the reading and still managed to get Bs or As on the exams. About chasing a student, this happened after several students left when they got their exams back even though class wasn't over. she then asked everyone to stay since she wanted to go over the exam and right after she said that another student left!
She seems to have a good knowledge about what she is teaching but for a LBST class, thats a bit too much reading. My friend had the same LBST course but with a different instructor. He also gave a lot of readings but according to him, he did not quizzed them too much in the exams which at times our instructor did. Readings must for her class.
Easy a 4 me
Well she is a bit scattered but I had no problem with the class.
Not the easiest class in the world, but I didn't do any of the readings and I received an A on every test. All 4 tests were mult. choice/TF and the final was essay format from a novel (which I actually did read) but she gave us the exact questions she planned to ask on the final. Overall, easy class if you are willing to study and pay attention.
I'm a logical person so I tend to do better with math/science classes. She was ok, lots of reading that she doesn't review in class but gives you background about the reading. This is a class you definitely want to form a study group with just so you can review the info. Not a hard class though.
A great professor. GO to class - it's mandatory but she goes over and explains ppwts. Got an A in the class just from going to class and paying attention and taking notes. The exam is 4 short answer questions on a book we have to read, a couple mc quizzes (easy if you just look over your notes), 3 tests also easy
Reviews on RMP made me almost not take her class but I'm glad I did. I really enjoy her class, she is not the crazy person this site makes her out to be. She cares about her class and sticks to her rules. Ppt's and study guides put on Moodle, study those and you'll do fine on the tests. Good elective to take! & she offers extra credit!
I was worried about taking this class because of some of the reviews I read, but I really enjoyed her class. I learned A LOT! You have to go to class everyday and take notes and if you do that you will get an A. Also skim through the read!
BEST TEACHER EVER!She was so interesting. You could tell she loved the topic and knew her stuff. I went into this class thinking it was going to be my worst, and it turned out to be my favorite! It changed my perspective on life and helped guide me towards my choice of major. You only have to read one book for easy final questions.Take it!
I didn't think that I would enjoy this class or the professor but I was wrong. This professor was great and I learned a lot in this course. Glad I took the course.
shes very clear with everything she explains in class. just go to class, take notes, and cram study the day before the test and youll get an easy A. very good teacher. not to mention shes hot
If you want an entertaining and also a learning experience, then take this prof. Very passionate about religions and the environment. My favorite part of the class was the blog project and how we were able to share our stuff. She even shared hers. Great class. Plus all the readings were online which made it a cheap class.
Easy course, she is understanding, interesting lectures, does encourage group discussions, there will be a final group project, do the reading and you will pass the weekly quizzes, however in order to get an A you have to come to class she does give credit for attendance. Papers are a breeze
Overall, a pretty straight forward class. She is extremely knowledgeable on the subject matter. The only thing that can bring your grade up or down are the quizes she gives each week for the assigned reading of that week on moodle. I read for the most part, but sometimes skimmed and still managed to get a decent grade. 12 are taken, 3 are dropped.
Katsanos is a great professor. She's extremely knowledgeable in the subject matter and makes it hard not to listen to her lectures. Group work is expected so hopefully she assigns you to a good team. Oh yea, she's pretty hot, kind of hard not to watch her : ) Easy class, interesting material, learning a lot.
Really smart and knows her stuff really well. She explains things in a way that very easy to understand. Doesn't grade very hard, basically if you actually try in the projectpaper you get an A. likes to do group projects that are actually fun and interesting.
Quizzes once a week for super long readings.
Katsanos is a good professor and knows what she is talking about. Get ready to read and have reading quizzes but they aren't too bad. Work in teams. No final exam, but there is a portfolio due. Would recommend taking her.
She was a good professor and overall the class wasn't too bad. However, at the end of the semester I noticed that she had made errors with my attendance record, which wrongfully impacted my final grade. I sent her an email that was as polite as possible, but she responded in a very hostile, condescending way. I wasn't pleased with that at all.
Lots of work!
I would never take another class by Professor Katsanos. Her class is extremely boring. You have weekly quizzes that are "open note" but even if you take the best notes possible, you will fail. If you have strong religious or political beliefs I would never take her. She pushes HER beliefs onto the class. I left mad every time I had her class.
This was an eye opening class... Katsanos is hilarious and does her best to keep the class interesting.. not sure why the other rater left class mad. Could be a climate change denier? If you deny climate change Katsanos is quick to show you the evidence.
You'll have a quiz every week on the at home reading but she allows you to use notes. The class was easy and interesting, just show up and do the assignments. She's not a harsh grader either.
Get ready to read for RATs, your grade will depend on this every week. Final exam is an e-portfolio (website). Attendance is important. We watched short clips and had class work activities. Katsano is nice and understanding, drop three RATs, may give everyone points. Also give opportunities for extra credits.
This prof is fine. Her class isn't anything special. Honestly, I have done so much homework for her. I've probably done more for her than for any other class I've taken. Lots of reading, quizzes every week, mini group projects (which are fun), two papers, e-portfolio, and a couple presentations. Avoid her if possible, won't kill you though.
So I won't call her class a hard class but I will call it a really frivolous one. I don't care much, but she did treat us like an elementary class at times. The weekly quizzes, the RAT's, they're worth 70% of your grade and everything else isn't worth enough to matter as much. She's nice, a little frazzled all the time, but cares about her subject.
Loved this class. Great discussions and she was super enthusiastic about the class. Weekly quizzes but no big exams and not even a final. Got time off to do required community work. I would take her again but am graduating next semester. yeah!
I wanted to like this professor. Her class seemed interesting and she was very enthusiastic. Unfortunately, this did not make up for the rest. The readings were boring and there were SO MANY. She knows this is a class that's required to graduate, and makes it unnecessarily hard. Bad day at home? She'll make sure to bring her attitude with her.
One of my favorite classes
Hated class. For a gen-ed this was awful. She makes you read an awful online book with a quiz each week. You have to read a novel, with a paper & quiz, volunteer 20 hrs (paper too) & a challenge. She wants you to go vegetarian or not drive for four weeks & do a website on it. Very judgmental to those who aren't vegan, but she smokes. Terrible class
If you want to learn how Professor Katsanos sees the world, this is the class for you. If you actually want to learn something based on objective facts, go elsewhere. If you like classes where the professor will give you an A for regurgitating her opinions, you'll like her. If you are an independent thinker and researcher, stay away.
Class started out interesting but overtime became tedious and boring. Katsanos is super nice but her teaching methods are a little off. I really didn't like the sudden shift in class from climate change to religious studies. She tries to tie them together into one class and it really didn't work. Takes forever to grade assignments, but easy 'A.'
If you are wanting to take a simple LBST for credit, stay away from this class. Way too much work for as easy of a course as this should be. You have to take an RAT every week that consists of 10 questions based off of 20+ pages of reading. Also, you must do a fieldwork right up, paper, and ePortfolio. Would not recommend.
Loved her
This was all in all a good class without midterms and a final exam. Liked being there most of the time but I was in a group with a rude person that wouldn't pull her weight on team exercises. outside of that it was a good class.
Lots of reading and lots of lectures in a class without a Midterm or a Final. Easy A, but more than that it's an enjoyable A. Prof. Katsanos is a really nice person who likes to engage in organic conversation. She is rather scatter-brained, but unlike other professors it does not harm her lectures. If anything, it makes them more organic. A+.
Lots of grades available. Will create portfolio, don't throwaway any work. weekly quizzes on reading which are multiple-choice and 10 questions, Weekly oe biweekly minute papers. Few group projects, 2 critique papers, letter and book cover. Very informative class. I looked forward to every week. Short group presentation. Show up the classes
Always late. No consistency with grading; difficult on some things, easy on others. If the grade book is even updated. Forgets materials for class, is always going to her office for 10+ minutes (after being 10+ minutes late) to grab things. Her teaching style has little preparation and is not very engaging. Besides that, weekly quizzes & teamwork.
1st 3 weeks of this class looked promising & from there it went downhill. Almost 60% of your grade are RATs that she uses to take attendance (she drops 3). Rushed almost a semesters worth of projects/ work in last two weeks of semester. Wasted multiple class periods talking about a single reading. Had potential but she is just too disorganized.
I really enjoyed this class and learned a lot about the climate crisis. Professor Katsanos was very passionate about the material which made the class more enjoyable and engaging. She had us do a lot of creative projects such as making posters, a book cover and team presentations. Make sure you do the weekly readings and take notes for the RATs.
Ive never had more work for a GenEd LBST class. She gives so much mindless work that doesnt have to do with RELS, which she grades viciously w no feedback. When she does give feedback its to provide unsolicited (and wrong) grammar corrections. She also had a lot to say about the lack of credibility in Christian people. Terrible professor.
She cares about current issues like climate change. Laid back, some stuff in lectures goes over my head but the quizzes and assignments are straightforward. Just keep up with the reading. Interesting videos are used for forum posts.
This class was online for me so I didn't show up at all and the few times I did, all they did was discuss political topics which isn't bad if that's your thing. The professor was cool and the workload is easy. I liked this class.
She was really fun to listen to, she clearly cares about her lectures, though sometimes it seemed that she would just ramble on to fill the classtime. There were multiple occasions where the thursday class felt unnecessary. There is a quiz every week on a selected reading passage which arent that bad. She drops many grades at the end of the sem.
lots of readings, but content was very interesting. encourages questions and participation. tests every week but if you do the readings they should be okay. overall shes a good teacher and lecturer but if you just want an easy free lbst take something else.
