Great Professor. Enjoyed coming to his class and learned a lot by his example and his passion for his work.
Perfect theology professor. YOu could do worse than to take all of his classes--and I mean take all of them
Extremely professional and respectful of his students. He is very well versed and has a great passion about what he does. Tends to over-explain things, but that's really the only bad thing you can say about him. A great professor all-around.
Awesome professor. He respects his students and loves teaching. Very fair grader, I would recommentd for anyone to take him
Excellent teacher. You'll be so glad you took his class because you leave it everyday feeling as if you've learned so much.
Very, very interesting class, and even if it is a lot of work I would highly recommend it. No other professor made me feel like I learned as much in each class as he did, except maybe Fr. Whalen.
sooooooo easy.... tkae him if you have any choice... he's a priest too.... so he's udnertsnading... he practically hands the test to you... and he's not anal about papers... just talk to him...
Best Theology professor at St. Johns University, gives a review sheet on all the material on the test, and final is not cumulative, a little picky with the research paper but it is a easy paper!PERFECT for students who are not Caholic makes Theology easy!
great theo teacher...gives u review sheets so u dont have to guess whats on the test...very nice and makes the class actually fun to go to
IS a dick when it comes to his paper. exams r easy, ur final exam is the last part of the book , which he give u a study shett fpr what u need to know do that sheet and u will pass. the paper will get u thou.
Great teacher, review sheets are extremely helpful, willing to help you at anytime, don't really need to go to the class just read the material ... GREAT TEACHER
Really friendly guy except to a-holes. Easy tests, good review sheets.
Great teacher !!! He is definantly one of the best professors at SJU, he makes the subject fun and he has a great sense of humor. If you have the opportunity to take him, do it !!
great prof!
You have to be neat(dont write in margins)!! Tests are very detailed, not easy!!! I'm a 4.0 student. study hard!
GREAT TEACHER
If you are a lazy person who does not care about Theology- don't take him. He does give you an outline for the test the day before- but if you don't read that stupid little book- you're not passing the tests. It's boring and the papers are difficult. I would take some1 easier if you can!
Easy A, if you memorise the Answers to the Question, 50 Question on the exam, 1/2 T/f 1/2 Mult choice. easy.
Puts the Hot in Hot tamale!
Caserta is very passionate about what he teaches. He can be particular about papers and test are detailed but you get so much out of His class. If u are looking for someone easy. This is not the guy but if you want to actually learn something Caserta is your guy.
He is heaven sent. This teacher is amazing. He is hard but his class is SO WORTH it. I loved every minute in his class. Money well spent!!!
The Best theology professor at SJU
Absolutely the best theology professor at SJU. If you want to know what the Church really teaches then he is the professor for you.
He is really difficult. if u r not a devout catholic this is not the class for you
Who ever said that if you are not Catholic, don't take this class is totally wrong. Father Caserta is fair and very easy to understand no matter what your faith and he is just a great teacher.
don't know about other courses, but he is the easiest guy u can take if its THE 1000. all u have 2 do is go 2 class and listen. Buy the book, all his tests r from book & class, he gives u his exams and questions b4, but d book makes it even easier. t/f and mult choice 1/2 n 1/2. U gotta work real hard to fail his class. easy easy A
He is an Amazing professor... knows what he's talking about... took him for 2 classes and loved every sec of it... Amazing stories, funny jokes... but apart from all that... he is an amazing person... Really devoted to what he teaches... Best Teacher On Campus
He his a nice priest. Doesn't take attendenc. Very boirng. His first test in my class everyone did pretty bad on, I got a 60 on it and my friend got a 48. He gave one paper and I got an A-, then he gave a final which was madd easy because he gave a review sheet. I ended up with an A in the class and so did my friend with a 48. TAKE HIM EASY A
i had him for honors christian spirituality and mysticism and he was an awesome professor. he tells you exactly what is going to be on his exams and they are not difficult if you take notes. i would definitely take him again.
Excellent professor! One of the funniest people I've met, and he's alone a priest. His stories teaches you about life, and you do learn alot: about Catholicism and everything else.
easy and clear. he is very helpful and knows his subject very well. you learn a lot. loved his class.
excellent professor...ull love him...hes funny and teaches very clearly...his death and resurrection class will teach u A LOT..def not boring....easy A
Greatest Professor EVER!!! Great to talk to after class to--very smart and funny. All-around GREAT GUY. So good he even gets the hot pepper!!! :)
What a wonderful professor. If all of St. Johns professors taught, and gave their students the same level of respect that Father Caserta gives his students, I would actully love going to class. Take him if you really want to walk out of class feeling like you have learned something.
Being a senior and having taken a lot of boring classes in my college career. I can say without a doubt that Fr. Caserta is the BEST Professor I have ever had. He truly cares about his students and loves the material he teaches. If you want to learn, Father is the man to take!!!
An amazing professor.. This is the type of class which you wouldnt want to miss.. You not just get educated by Father Caserta but you learn life and the glory's of it.. Starts his class with a prayer.. I took Him for 2 theologies.. and would take him for more if i had the chance.. Simply the best professor i have ever taken...
i LOVE father caserta!! very nice man, doesnt take **** in his class (mostly anything disrespectful but who can blame him for that?), definitely not the easiest prof but not hard either. this class was Death and Resurrection in modern christian though and was a great lesson in life as well as a required 3 credits. class went by quickly, take him
Very good professor, seemed a little mean on the first day, but he just wants to be respected and respects his students in return. Very helpful and clear. Definately take (especially over Denny!!!- he sucks)
i dont know what professor you guys are talking about but i found him to be difficult, arrogant and not understanding at all. do not take!
Do NOT waste your time.
I loved Father Thomas. His lectures are amazing. They are so moving and you learn so much about the Catholic faith. His tests are not the easiest, you just need to study the textbook. Term paper is the easiest paper I have written in my life. He gives you like 4 months to do it and its straight out of the textbook. DEFINATELY take him!!!!!
Rumour has it that he is leaving university. Supposedly he is the new pastor of Saint Bernadette in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn.
wonderful teacher, great guy. he covers the entire catechism during the semestre, but it doesn't feel like it. a third of the class is allegory/jokes, and he helps you whenever he can. TAKE HIM! even if you're not catholic/christian, he isn't prejudiced and makes everyone feel comfortable. beware of UW's!!! [unofficial withdrawals] come to class!!!
Great class, I'm not a big fan of theology but he made in interesting. Highly recommend him. He wont scold you if you don't know something, and he'll usually wander off telling strange, yet funny stories.
I really cant stand him, if you are on his bad side he gives you nasty looks, and he gives you soo much work as if he is the only class you have the whole semester. biggest mistake of my life stay away !!!
Very difficult professor. Will not help you write paper. Gives nasty looks at you if he does not like you. I would avoid him like the plague!
i admit, he does give looks to people he dislikes. however, i think he is a very fair professor. he gives a lot of helpful hints on what the tests will be on. 2 in-class tests [all m/c] and 1 take-home final. he isn't as intimidating as he people say he is. he uses thoroughly the books he tells you to buy. just attend class and listen.
Extremely easy. Dont use ur cell fone in class and youll be fine.Don't fall asleep as well. Very easy 2 mc tests and two really short papers and 1 TAKE HOME FINAL.Attendance is mandatory and no books are needed he gives you outlines of them. Very simple class he breaks down everything for you. GREAT GRADER!
AMAZING PROFESSOR! MUST TAKE!
His class is very straightforward and he is somewhat strict with class rules. Papers and tests are mostly fair. Don't understand his grading system and was unfair with mine. Study hard for the final though, I got A's on both papers, 95 avg on 2 tests and did not so well on final and still didn't get an A.
He is a great teacher.Read every night and he goes over it in class..gives you a review sheet with everything that will be on the test so if you study it you will do fine.just 3 tests and they are not cumulative and just one paper.
good teacher. very knowledgeable and he structures the class well. he seemed pretty narrow minded when he graded my term paper though, but to each their own i suppose; he's a priest after all.
He gives one test per each section of the book (3), no quizzes, one term paper. Just read the chapters for each class and don't use your cell phone and you'll be fine.
The best professor in the whole school!! You must take down good notes because he bases his tests on notes. There are 2 papers that are fairly easy. 2 tests and 1 final. 20 percent each. Go to class and you will be fine!!
Seems like he's strict in his grading. Got an A on the paper and got 90s on all the tests and still didn't get an A. Completely unfair but seems like a nice guy. He's a good professor.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HIM! hes so adorable and old! his tests are a little hard but if you read the text and study your notes youre fine! he gives out detailed review sheets before each test. only 3 tests which arent cume. and a paper each semster! DEFFFFF TAKE HIM!!! AMAZING TEACHER!
Ok i have no idea what all the bad reviews are for, but i am taking him now, and he his great. im not even catholic but the way he explains things is very interesting. test are not hard and neither is the ONE paper that he gives. just have to review and he goes over that with you
Very clear with lessons, but can be very slow and repetitive which makes people think he's boring. His MC-tests can be really tricky and some questions are ambiguous, but overall not bad if you study. I overall recommend him.
I took him for THE a second time last semester, with a different class. His tests can be tricky because of the way they can be worded and the format (MC and TF alternating can mess you up) but he's still a good professor and I respect him for making class interesting with his little stories and whatnot.
three tests and one paper. Lectures are so boring I did not learn one thing from sitting in that class but sadly attendance matters. Doesn't let you get up to go to the bathroom or anything either and doesn't do a good job at answering your questions either your just left sitting there even more confused than you were to begin with...
Class is an easy A. All you have to do is write down his notes he puts on the board and he gives you reviews before each test. There are 3 tests and one easy paper. Would definitely take again
Class is an easy A. Take notes and read the review sheets he gives you, the tests are almost verbatim. Show up to class, he takes attendance and if you don't skip class he adds points to your grade at the end of the semester. His lectures are dry and boring and he doesn't let you go to the bathroom during class, but it's worth it for the easy grade
Fr. Caserta is a great teacher. Extremely passionate about the subject matter, and makes it extremely easy. He reviews before every exam and practically gives you the answers. All you have to do is show up and connect the dots.
TAKE HIM! I loved Fr. Thomas Caserta. If you have ever attended Mass before this class will be the simplest thing ever. Even if you haven't, he practically gives you the answers on the test a week before hand. easy A. you will enjoy it.
He is a father so he will earn your respect. Do not use your phone in this class or he will lose it. If you are absent it will impact your grade but he is such a sweet heart. His lectures can be very boring at first but as the semester goes on it gets more intersting. I loved attending his class at the end, I am a horrible test taker but I did well
Just take him. His tests can be a little tough but he pretty much gives you all the answers the class before. Such a sweet, caring man. He does eveyehjg he can to help your grade is you are struggling and he sees you are trying. Would reccomend to anybody.
He is a very nice and caring man. He is a little traditional with the way he runs his class, but it isn't anything that someone cannot do for 1.5 hours. He is very lecture heavy so be prepared for that. Tests are a bit tricky, but he gives you the answers right before. I would say an easy A if you do all your work and not lazy.
such a sweet guy, funny too and tries to be as respectful as possible, lectures can sometimes be a bit boring, but usually it is interesting esp if you are into this topic, one of the best profs, take him!, gives you test questions
One paper, no homework, two tests and a final. He is very caring but what he teaches aren't easy for someone who is not christian. he gave out review sheet before the test.
One of the most boring classes and such a disrespectful professor. Avoid him at all costs, I got an A in his course but no thanks to him.
Spends the whole class rambling, no powerpoint or notes provided to follow along. It's hard to catch everything he says and he doesn't allow laptops to take notes, only by hand. He gives review sheets before-hand but random stuff always pops up on his tests. 2 tests, a group presentation and summative essay. Deff not an easy A class
Monsignor Caserta is a great prof. Sweet man and trys to help you not only in class but with your faith. Classes are straight forward and gives you detailed review sheets. If you have a chance to take him DO IT.
One of my best profs I have had at St. John's and the class had taught me a whole lot. Father Caserta has really helped me to love and grow in being Catholic because of this class. He is straight forward as far as the class and does his best to help his students.
This prof is amazing, TAKE HIM! THE BEST prof I have ever taken! So sweet and caring and works with the students!
EASY CLASS. do what he asks you to do (which is barely any work, just write something for discussion board and finish his 2 papers) and you will get an A.
This man is amazing. TAKE HIM. Such a sweet and caring man and an easy class. Only required 3 papers which were a joke and 4 discussion posts that were all under 100 words each. He actually cares for his students and not a harsh grader at all. Don't buy any books they're all available online.
A great man, really passionate about his lectures. They could be boring but he is an easy grader and gives a review sheet before every exam. A must take for theology.
Fr. Caserta is one of the best prof.s I have ever had. He is so sweet and really cares for his students so much. It is not the type of class you show up and get an A. If you do what you have to do you will do well. Papers, quizes and tests, all moderate and fair.
Fr. Caserta is really kind. The class is not difficult, just know lectures can feel long. No powerpoints, just him talking. Papers are straightforward and simple, I believe there were only 3. For the final not only does he provide you with notes, but he gives you a studyguide with what exactly will be on the final. No surprises. :)
Fr. Caserta was a sweetheart. He assigned one book that's actually interesting and not just something you forget about when the course ends. Three essays based on personal experiences from reading the book. Super easy. One final based on notes he types himself and gives you questions he picks from for the exam. Inspiring, kind man. TAKE HIS CLASS!
Monsignor Caserta is a great professor, TAKE HIM ! He goes over everything .
tough class to sit through, long lectures and just him talking the whole time. Easy work and really thorough reviews for tests. If you want an easy grade, take this class.
He is an AMAZING theology teacher. If you want the A, this is the class. He doesn't waste our time, meaning that he lets us out (15-20 mins) early if there is nothing else to say. He teaches theology objectively and he loves his students dearly. There is no midterm or final, only three papers that are easy so don't stress about his grading.
Class consisted of midterm, final, and a paper. Gave us a review sheet for the tests, easy A. No phones or laptops allowed in class. Must take notes on paper. Replies to emails. The class seemed to drag a little. He didn't include our class much into the course or engage with us.
On the first day he claimed that this class is the hardest religion class in the catalogue... it's not. At all. Graded by two tests and an essay. Midterm was 50 mutiple choice, final was 5 short answer. He gives extensive review sheets for tests, basically gives you the questions and answers. Can be a bit boring but not bad at all.
It's pretty easy as far as theology classes go. He goes over the tests a week before and gives the answers so you just have the know those to get an easy A. The lectures can feel long though as it's purely speaking but he lets you out early 90% of the time. Be aware though, he doesn't like students using electronics so you have to use a notebook.
Monsignor Caserta is a wonderful and kind priest and professor. He does explain everything clearly, and goes over what is expected of you.
Take this professor!!! He's such an amazing professor even for an honors class. There are three papers and a final exam. The papers are really easy to do and the final exam is a take home exam. He talks a lot but you don't have to participate. He allows you to be on the laptop if you have the copy of the book online.
Highly recommend this professor. Best theology class I have had. Mostly lectures, some discussions. Not a class for everyone, but as someone who wasn't religious, I appreciated his point of view on the class. One book that you can find online for free. 3 double-spaced 2-page essays that were opinion-based. Take-home final, easy A. Can go on laptop
