I took this professor for ENC1101 and she was not helpful at all and not very clear at explaining things. You can easily pass ENC1101 by writting great essays but if you really want to learn what she's teaching I suggest you try another professor!
this teacher is easy but she makes u write about 1000 words essay every week. she doesn't teach and she is boring, but if u do u work and dont miss class u will pass.
teacher is not helpful, bad at explaining, boring,u write every word required for essays, grammer tests,DEFINETLY WOULDN'T RECCOMMEND!
These people's comments are true if you're LAZY! Ofcoarse she gives you work. It's COLLEGE! I love this teacher. It's nice to see teachers who are passionate about what they teach (in my case, she taught Literature)You learn alot and its not hard. Plus, shes a sweetheart and easy-going. I earned a B
Yes she guives a lot of homework and essays but that works on your favor and you learn a lot and how to do good and deep essays. She is really pasionate and listens to everybodie's opinion.I loved this class it was interesting and I never liked english.
wow! this class is really something...she gives mad hw...and essay that are super hard....so if ur lazy or don't like english do not take this class...ohh and mid-term lets just say that 90% of the class failed.... and it was worth 30% of ur grade
mad hw
This teacher is terrible. She is unfair and so not understanding. I had an illness and she failed me. She make english horrible for a class that could be enjoyable. Plus there is lots of work and the tests are impossible.
i actually took her last summer for the 6 week term and all we did was write essays and take tests. i missed one essay and failed all the tests and still passed with a low B. i thought it was awsome to get by just typing out essays... she must be easier in the summer b/c the class was a piece of cak
I liked this class b-cuz there was not much writing involved no long papers expect one towards the end of the sem. you go to class and just discuss stories. It pretty chill, you just have to pay attention. Not bad, better than enc 1101. If your not good at paying attention don't even try.
Decent teacher, but she focuses more on "issues" than teaching English. Too much emphasis on group work and watching movies. In terms of grammar, you learn pretty much the same stuff as in high school. Good for an easy A, I guess.
I love her.. very fair teacher.. a lot of essays but on interesting stuff.. such as paintings, songs, etc. she is a fair grader.. Totally recommend her.
Great professor! Super interesting and has a gret appriciation and love for what she teaches.
don't take her! she gives an inmense amount of work and even though she appears to be a nice person she really isn't... its just a facade... she gives way too much work, there's homework every single class!!! I really don't like her, she is not a nice person, she'll screw you over!
DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO BAD REVIEWS these are from slackers that either did'nt show up for class or didn't pay attention. Attend class and be on time!!! she reviews future assignments and work at the beginning of class. She does help you. Do your homework and study for the tests and you'll get an A. Welcome to College!
She gives a lot of work! But it's easy work and can be managed. She is a really easy grader, if your essay makes sense she'll give you an A. She is not really picky. She is a really nice lady, very helpful and I found her class quite enjoyable. I totally recomend her A+++++
Easy proffessor. A lot of reading and writing. Class discussions are a big part of your grade. great instruction. I gained a true interest in literature from this class.
Make sure you attend every single class. If you happen to miss, make sure you ask her if you have any work to make up. There is plenty of writing, class discussions, and maybe 1 or 2 class presentations. You can forget passing the literature test in the middle of the term, its impossible to even get a D. She is also a bit picky.
Definately a teacher worth taking. You will learn alot in the subjects of literature and poetry. As for her test, study as hard as you can because there's no multiple choice. But hey, thats college.
Easy teacher! jsut show up to class and pay attention make sure to do your h.w. even though she dosnt collect it all the time, she will collect all of it at the end of the semester. shes very nice and helpful! easy A!
do not take her unless you love to be bored and have nothing to do , shes very smart but she will put you to sleep and fail you
I had her for sum A class. the class is not easy. you have to write many essays and she is little bit picky, but very helpful. she will teach you how to write a good essay and will show you your mistake. I got an A for her class what i thought impossible. her tests aren't hard, make sure you study. always want her students learn from their mistakes
Nice lady.
horrible she makes you do lots of work , and read boring poems all class . makes you write pointless essays if you get her drop her!!!
This class is very easy. Although she is a bit picky with her essay grading, she is definitely a good teacher. She gives a lot of essays and homework but if you want to improve your writing skills you should take her. She lets you revise your essays and she drops your lowest test grade at the end. Very easy class, I felt like I was in high school.
OKAY STUDENTS LISTEN UP.If you're still the same lazy slacker you were in high school, stay far away from this class. She gives homework every day, but it's not enough to get in the way of a fulfilling social life. GOD FORBID college becomes somewhat of a challenge. I'm tired of reading bad reviews for teachers who are great by lazy punks!!!
This teacher is the biggest sweetheart! I love her class! She's really cool, easy going, and down to earth and she trys to make her assignments and tests fun and interesting. She even gives you practice tests to take home. I highly recommend her. By the end of the semester my entire class signed up for her for their following semester.
She isn't a hard prof. but she'll make you work for your grade. She gives take home PRACTICE tests which do help and you can use them on actual tests. 5 or 6 essays thru the semester. Not too bad really.
This lady is sooooo sweet! She made the class laugh a couple of times. Shes a cute old lady! There about 6 essay but two of them are group essay! All of the essay are really interesting....easy to do! The test are a little confusing but they are ALL open book! Great teacher....take her
gives easy homework at biggining of term; soon you only need to write your essays. gives 5 tests, takes away loest grade;give out a study sheet for the tests. The study sheet is just like the test just differnt questions. supper esay, and im a slaker
Professor Gray is great, she is easy and very clear with her assignments. You have six essays but they are all easy to do. I recommend her she is the best.
I like the way she teaches...she gives you essays on interesting topics like murder mysteries, debatable issues, invisibilty and an occasional grammar test...and shes a sweet lady but a good class and prof. overall
She is a great teacher but expect to do work and write essays! Its not hard I recommend her=)
Shes adorable! I had a lot of fun in her class. But be ready because she does assign about 6 or 5 essays. Simple topics, debatable topics, fun topics on contemporary things. If u HATEEEE writing then i don't think you will like her but TRUST ME she doesn't ask for much, just write and you will get credit. FUNNY, NICE, RECOMMEND HER ALLLLL THE WAY!
She makes you do a lot of essays and her tests are kind of difficult. I'm not crazy about her.
She is a great english professor. She does make you read a lot of short stories and poems and three essays are due. Although she is very nice and helpful, her class isn't hard. I recommend her.
This professor is so nice. She is one of a kind. If you really want to learn what you need to in ENC1101 then take her class it's totally worth it. She explains what she needs to and her assignments are not hard at all. I will take her ENC1102 class in hopes of learning even more from this dynamic professor.
I did not like this teacher. She is very sweet but she grades essays unfairly and I did not like her at all. If you want to waste your time writing good essays and getting bad grades for them I recommend her.
i completely agree with everyone else who says stop giving bad reviews. i had her for enc1102 and yea she gave alot of work but she is really helpful and tells u exactly what she wants. i got a c but thats only cuz i didnt really try or do the work. the essays are a bit hard but if u go to class and ask her for help u will pass.also buy the book!!!
SHE IS VERY HELPFUL!!! WORK IS BASED UPON TEXTBOOK, SO DNT SO UP WITHOUT IT AND ALOT OF WRITING... OVERALL I DID WELL, I PASSED WITH A B :)
Great professor
She is a nice teacher in class but whne you talk to her after shes very mean. I was sick and I brought her a doctors note that was ligit and she called me a liar and failed me even though I had gotten As and Bs on all of her tests and essays. Her attendance is rediculous. Overall an easy class but not a very nice teacher when shes one on one.
Shes niceee, good teacher, too much essays tho.. she doesn't grade them fairly which sucks. But other then that you'll be fine, take her!
I loved Professor Gray, not an easy class but hey, it's college. The work wasn't too difficult and there was a lot of it & yes she grades hard, but it improved my writing and helped me in the long run. She's worth taking & gives clear directions. Overall a very nice lady
Very nice teacher. You will be reading "Making Sense" for HW and answering ques. A lot of essays and she is tough at grading essays. She expects good grammar (no comma splices, fragments etc.)Overall she is a good teacher and is very understanding. Save all your HW because she will collect it at the end of the semester. A couple of test but curved
She knew the material like the back of her hand, she was engaging, she was well spoken, and explained things well. It is an easy class with a lot of work. You will write approximately 5 essays and take 5 tests. The tests are open notes. Do the homework for extra credit & buy or borrow the book. Recommendable.
Professor Gray is great, she's very clear on what she wants and she's only picky if you're terrible at writing. There are a lot of essays but they didn't feel too long & tedious. I wish i would've taken her for 1102, she's pretty good.
Take this professor if you want a challenge. Otherwise if your lazy, do not take her. She gives out alot of essays and there is a midterm and a final which are impossible to get an A in. They are al fill in the blank no multiple choice or anyhting and the question dont even make sense. The class is kind of boring which makes you not pay attention.
Best tchr EVER!!!!!!, she gives u a lot of work, but she explains everything with extreme clarity, u have 5 tests in the class which r open book 4 of them n she will drop the lowest grade, also have 7 essays n u'll have the option 2 revise it 2 get a better grade. If u haven't take this class an r still looking 4 a professor that suits u take her.
This is a wonderful professor! She is very sweet, helpful, and explains things very clearly. I grew to like English because of her. I can't imagine a better professor for this subject!
like 6 essays, about 4 or 5 grammar quizes.. but shes a very nice old lady! recommended.
Professor Gray is great! She's really sweet and helpful. She gives 6 essays, but she is very clear on what she wants and gives at least a week to complete each. Five tests which are open book and we go over the material. I really recommend her! She does challenge you but you'll also learn with her. So far I have an A in her class.
If you don't like to write like a MTF just stay away from this course. Attandance its mandatory, only three absences per semester.
I like english, and i like it even more because of her. her assignments (she gives alot, be prepared to write) are interesting, she's very helpful and intelligent. the semester isn't even over and I signed up for her 1102 class. love her
Since I took her for Summer it required essays back-to-back. total of 4 essays, she makes you get into groups so you can basically do her work and grade another student. then the final essay is a group essay. tests are easy. she takes long to return graded work back, which idk why since we practically grade it for her.got a B, bt I dnt like her.
Professor Gray was a great teacher! Because I took her in the summer there was a lot of work back to back, but I definitely learned. She happens to be very lenient with grading. She is very sweet and seems to care for her students. I totally recommend her :D
I took her in Summer B and she is sooo easy, just make sure you do keep up with the work and show up to class. Super slack, and she's really nice.
If you are taking enc1102 with her, you have to do a lot in this class. About 7 essays and tons of homework assignments. Her test are extremely hard, but you'll learn a lot in this class. She is very nice and helpful. If you are a hard-working student, you must take class with her. I learnt how to write in her class.
Okay Professor Gray is the best English professor I've met so far. She gave us about 5 essays, sure it's tedious work but she explains what you have to do very clearly, you do a lot of reading in this class but you'll be engrossed in it and you will discuss the stories in detail in class, her tests are easy if you read the stories and took notes
when I took 1101 I hated it. when I met Mrs. Gray I changed my mind. This lady is amazing. You have to read a lot but beautiful stories and poems. She is a doll
Man I almost didn't pass this class because of her attendance policy. She gives way 2 much homework & if you don't have the book its a hassle. Make sure u read & understand everything, try to be there every single day because you need your notes to study for the test. The notes will help big time. I just found out I passed wit a C & im relieved!!
Professor Gray is a great English teacher. I took her class for the 6 week term, and it goes by pretty quick. She does give a lot of homework and grammar exercises, so if you're a procrastinator or aren't responsible, I wouldn't recommend you to take her. She is a fair grader when it comes to essays! Take her!
Professor Gray is super inteligent, very nice and respectful! She is always triying to help students. She gives you a lot of homework, but I think that it was the only way I could learn!! If you really want to have an interesting english class, just take her!
Professor Gray is an AMAZING English teacher..she makes all the assignments clear cut so you know what you are doing..she is also a fair grader when it comes to assignments..you do have to a quite of bit of work but it is doable..i look forward to taking her 1102 literature class next semester.
This Professor is very nice and helpful. However, she does give a lot of essays and homework. The homework is not hard and the essays should not be either if you pay attention and ask questions. It is a lot of group work also so most of the time in class you are interacting with your classmates and working together. I recommend this Professor.
Prof. Gray is a really nice lady, HOWEVER, she rambles on a lot and repeats herself numerous ways and times. Her work is kinda tedious, but sometimes fun. Very iffy. I would take her as a last resort.
Do not pick this teacher. Work is constant and tedious, 5 essays plus a research paper at the end of the semester. Midterms and finals are very, very difficult and is very picky when it comes to grading. Would NOT recommend her.
Gray is not a bad professor, she takes her work seriously. there is homework done from the book which she collects randomly and in bundle at the end of the semester. gives papers back with feedback and can redo them, test can be used with grammar textbook. the class is not bad, just pay attention and do your best
Clear instructions and assignments. Helpful in the classroom. Gives extra credit for homework at the end of Semester. Good feedback on essays, +you can revise for a better grade. Need to have good attendance. Professor Gray has a pleasant personality. Our class was only 50 mints and it went by fast. Keep a positive attitude and do your work:)
She makes you work for your grade. Does allow revisions for essay, but dont expect an A+ for them.
Professor Gray is very helpful. She does lots of reviews and practices before the quizzes and lets you revise your essays. She can be quite a tough grader but she really wants you to do a good job.
A very nice lady BUT makes you write a lot so get ready to read for hw and write papers for evry class. I was in her class for like a week and we had about 3 pop quizzes and 2 of them were back to back. Had to withdraw because I know I was not doing good. The class was boring and people barely paid attention.
It's defenitly a class where there's a lot of work but it's worth it. There's about five different essays that she lets you revise for a better grade. Theres homework almost every class but you go over the homework the next class. She's a super sweet lady that wants you to learn. I'm glad I took her and will be taking her again for ENC1102.
Although I passed with a B, Professor Gray was a great teacher. There were tests, but they weren't hard. She gives opportunities to revise your essay. She collects HW folders at the end of the semester. She's very sweet & extremely helpful. The work is easy. Show up, do the work, and you'll pass. Tardies & 3 absenses will effect your grade..
She is tough but if you enjoy writing and are good at it you will be fine! She makes things clear for you and explains everything if you need help. She's really cute and caring about her students. Get ready to write a whole lot though.
There was homework every single class. Her tests are extremely hard and specific. Every class you spend the entire time just going over homework and it is the most boring thing ever. She is super strict in grading essays and she grades them based on her opinions.
You will have to work for your grade, but you will learn a lot in this class. Professor Gray's class made me see poetry and literature from a new perspective, and I ended loving it. 1 midterm and 1 final test. Take notes and you will do good in her class. She is a sweet lady always willing to assist and help you.
Tests were hard and specific. You might as well have memorized the third word on the 5th paragraph on page 562. It is all MEMORIZATION, no study guide. Homework was given daily which was annoying because it was reading and answering questions. Research papers were easy. I had her for a 50 minute class and lectures were extremely boring. I did hw du
She was a really sweet lady. But, I did not like her class too much. I felt like she expected too much from students out of an english class. Too much homework! And her exams were difficult. Never would have thought I would have ever stressed so much about studying for an english class. Not again.
Good teacher, but not great. Her lectures were good, learning the material was very easy. Assigned essays, were actually very cool and interesting topics (NOTHING like a regular english teacher) BUT she did expect too much from her students, and graded the essays harshly. There's a lot of homework, sometimes graded sometimes not.
She has her own since of humor. We have an essay due one week and a test the other. Her class has a strict routine. Her lectures can be boring but she tries and she cares about her students.
She's very nice and sweet! She really does care about your grade and will pull you aside to discuss it with you. In total, there's 6 essays you have to do. You write an essay one week and the next you take a test on grammar and that's how it is the whole semester. No final or midterm.
If you want an easy A then this class won't do. However, if you want a challenging course that will improve your writing then go for her. I learned a shton in this class regarding writing. I just had to put time to study the work and a good a amount of hours doing her papers. It's worth it, though. I'd definitely take her again.
Gives a lot of work but it's easy to understand
This teacher is definetly unacceptable. The amount of homework she gives out is way too much! She has to understand that kids have jobs, house problems, and health problems as well. I am so stressed in this moment of my life and its mostly because of this teacher. I strongly reccomend not to take her class. You will be stressed all the time.
Nice lady but way too much homework. You NEED the book. Will lower your grade after 3 absences, 3 tardies count as one absence. 2 tests, must memorize every single story/poem read in class. Boring class. Not that hard but wouldn't take her again.
The sweetest lady I have ever met, yes she gives you hw every day but it does help and its simple reading and answering questions. Very thorough in her explaining and grading. I definitely recommend you take this class.
I understand that reading is mandatory, its an English class! However things get out of hand when she EXPECTS you to remember certain lines/quotes from each passage. Neither is there any type of study guide to help you prepare for the 50+ passages. Never thought that memorizing will play a role in my English class.
Homework every single day. READ A LOT AND REMEMBER EVERYTHING. There is no guideline for the test or something to follow. There are definitions, identification, passages etc. Take lots of notes. She is a sweet lady and will help if you ask.
She is a sweet lady but I wouldnt take her class again. Her tests are hard. No study guides and no multiple choice you have to memorize everything and it was up till 33 stories each test. NOT AN EASY A. Dont recommend.
careful, lots of reading. you have to remember every line from the book and all the characters and even the smallest detail to be able to pass her tests. she is a nice lady but needs to change her style, ridiculous grading also.
Don't take this class. 6 essays doesnt seem like a lot but before we even finished the first essay the final draft is due for the second essay, no time to talk to her about how to correct rough draft because she only gives one day in between the day she assigns and the day it is due.
She assigns a lot of homework, but the hw is useful. I took her for enc1101 and enc1102, for enc1102 you have to step up your game for the essays although she allows revisions for better grade. A long as you do hw and do the revisions you should be fine. The tests for enc1102 she allows you to use hw but not for enc1102 the tests are challenging 2
I took her for both ENCs I got an A in 1101 it was extremely easy. For ENC 1102 its completly different so much hw and the test are way harder. I recommend her for 1101 but try to take someone else for 1102
Professor Gray is an absolute gem. I would take her class again in a heartbeat. I took her class during my freshman year and now I am a junior. I still think about how much fun I had in this class. Literally she is one of those professors that inspire you to write and express your creativity. She is awesome. Highly recommend!
GREAT PROFESSOR!!
I love her ! She makes the class enjoyable !! Very sweet Woman !!! You will pass if you put in effort. Its hard to fail her class.
Your grade is based on 7 essays and a few easy tests only annoying thing was attendance, every three classes you'd miss she would lower your overall grade half a letter grade.
Her class is based on 8 essays and a couple of quizzes. She gives enough time between each essay but don't procrastinate.
Shes super nice but her tests are a little hard and theres no study guide. Book was only used 3 times for the whole semester. And there was homework and essays due every week.
About 7 or 8 essays 1 being in group. u have an essay one week and the next vocab with a quiz and so on. Be ready to get ur creative juices flowing. English is my second language but I have improved thanks to this class. u turn in a draft, then an essay, she grades it and could turn in a second time and she would give u an avrg grade, all in paper.
Took her class and she states everything very clearly on the syllabus. The textbook she requires we use for a couple of homeworks but not a whole lot. We do seven essay but enough time in-between where it isn't a whole lot. She also gives you a week to revise them and turn them in again for a better grade. All in all it's a chill class
I've always been good at English. There is one midterm, one final, and one research paper but a lot of homework. If you're willing to put in the work and you like English take her. But the main thing is that she's really understanding if you're having a hard time just talk to her. She doesn't use Canvas and does private meetings with you instead.
Professor Gray was a good professor. She allows you to do revisions on your essays, but this class is VERY homework heavy. She assigns homework every class. There is one midterm and one final exam based on all of the stories we've gone over, and they are not easy. If you do not mind putting in the work, then this professor is for you.
She gives you feedback on the essays which is great. She is a great professor I highly recommend taking this class she's very sweet and corrects you on your essay mistakes and helps you better your writing skills.
Professor Gray's ENC1102 is a challenging course with heavy homework, but she is understanding and allows revisions. To succeed, put in the work and utilize resources like Unstuckstudy alongside the textbook. The tests are tough, but manageable with diligent preparation.
