History sucks,but this class lets ya get through it!Jacobson is very funny and entertainig. there is a paper (not easy but not hard), 2 tests (where 40 pnts is an essay), 3-4 quizzes and the exam. She grades pretty easy. The key to this class is MEMORY!

This is class is not for someone who doesn't show up to class! Tests are mildly easy but the paper is kinda hard to write about if you are not into history. Multiple choice on test is brutal...But I got an "A" so I am not complaining!

I was scared at first, but it didnt take me long to realise that this is one of the best professors yet. She made the class interesting (even though I am not into history.) The class was somewhat hard, but Jacobson is there for extra help if needed. She really is a great teacher. :)

she is nice, funny, and helpful.i loved her and took her twice,she offers extra points added on to your year end grade, just write down what she says then review it before a test. dont be scared about her document quiz, i never cracked a book for document quiz or test and got A's in her class. A++++

AWFUL experience with Mrs. Jacobson! She would talk so fast and would jump from one topic and back to another you couldn't keep your notes straight! Everything on her quizzes and tests were NEVER gone over in class! I would HIGHLY recommend Mr. Cool for History!

Mrs. Jacobson was a great teacher. However, if you do not like lectures then this will not be the class for you. Her class is very challenging however if you read your documents and your textbook before going to class then you will make a good grade. She has a great personality you won't fall aslee

teacher is ok. nice as a person, but as far as class material, her test are hard and she gives you 5 possible essay to study,on test she lets you see one. if you take her notes and read it,they are fragments and doesn't make sense. it's all over the place. recommend other teacher.test r hard but give extra credit,3pts ad to final grade.

Uses subliminal techniques to indoctrinate her students with the benefits of a communist society. She is also an excellent instructor with a wonderful personality. She is highly knowledgeable of the material, as well as of world events, and is very open to questions. She is very charitable in discussions to those who show a genuine interest.

Like many other respondents, ignore the fact that she is uber-liberal! Be prepared to develop carpal-tunnel from all the notes you will take. Study those notes, and you will do well! I never used my book, failed some quizzes and I still busted her up for an A at the end of the semester. She's funny, liberal and energetic. Great professor.

very knowledgable, cool teacher. Be prepared to take lots of notes at a very fast pace. I filled up a 3 subject notebook with notes. Study your notes and prepare before the tests and you should be fine. Make sure you take good notes. Lots of notes!!! Be prepared to discuss current events at the beginning of class. She keeeps class interesting.

HORRIBLE TEACHER! she's seemed sweet but i was fooled! her tests had NOTHING to do with what we talked about and she was so confusing and random i think she lost herself at times.. cant even take notes b/c u r so lost all the time.. waste of time and money DONT TAKE HER.. u will fail! half of my class did!

worst teacher ever....boring, ugly, and way too hard. it's a community college for christ's sake!! her tests are like taking the LSAT's. you have to memorize an entire document book and then she will ask you only 1 question from it and you are supposed to remember the answer....STAY AWAY

She is definately not an easy teacher. You will have to work. You will have 1 term paper to do which counts as a whole test grade. If you do well on the paper, you won't do too bad in the class. I am a C student and I survived her twice!

OMG! This was the worst teacher ever...Test were SOO hard and make sure you read an memorize the document book! YOU will not pass her test if you don't take notes, which is hard to do because she jumps around too much and talks tooo fast...I HATED HER!

I began taking this teacher during dual-enrollment in highschool. She was challenging, yet informative. I didn't feel like I was at a junior college, but at an actual university, when in her classroom. Yes, you must work hard to make the grade, but you will learn. Isn't that what we are in college for?

Jacobson was one of my favorite teachers so far. Yes, she's challenging. She's extremely nice and interested in her students. The people who say you have to memorize the documents are idiots. I didn't even read them and I got 100s on both the quizzes. Great teacher, I got an A.

She is a good teacher. Makes her standards very clear from the beginning. Take good notes, because that's what the tests are on. You don't even need to buy the documents book. Her documents quizzes are common sense. The answers are all given in the questions. Her tests are a kind of hard, but she's a good teacher nonetheless.

very good teacher, no dates to remember, does require 1 term paper, tests have 2 essay question which if answered well will pass the test, multiple choice does require reading from the book, she teaches to students as adults, give her respect and she will do the same

Awesome teacher...The class was mostly lecture, but it was very informative. The test are not difficult if you pay attention and take good notes. You only have one research paper in which you can pick just about any topic within the time period of the class.

Excellent instructor. Loved having the time at the start of class to discuss current events and not just jumping into material for class. Tests were a bit difficult if you do like me and just take notes. Learned quickly to read ahead in the chapters and keep up with documents. Overall, A on paper, B on Final with B for semester average.

She's a notes teacher. That's all you do is take notes. She is a good teacher though, and her classes are fun and interesting. She like to have fun, but knows when to be serious. I would recommend her to people that are looking to learn a lot. She's not an "easy A" prof but she is very good and knows her stuff.

very down to earth. as long as you come to class and take notes you will be fine. her test are easy if you take notes and DO THE WHOLE EXAM REVIEW. she gives out 5 exam ?'s and picks two for the test, and if you do the exam review you will do fine, b/c it's the biggest % of the test.

frances is a nice person and one of the most helpful teachers i've ever met. great communication if there is any issue. 3 tests and a paper, that's it. the tests come from mainly notes, but some from the book. some map and document quizzes, but very easy, even if you don't study. take this class. it's a blast.

I think she's a great teacher. It's not a wildly interesting class, but she makes it easy. She gives us a printout of every slideshow we go over in class so we can keep up with the notes. She also gives us 5 possible essays for each test and chooses 2 from those, which makes preparing for tests extremely simple. No homework.Show up, take notes.

She's generous and highly intelligent about history and current news. All u have to do is put the pieces of information from the notes together and pre-write the essays to her essay test questions. quizes aren't a biggie, and book is useless. just have a keen Memory and show up for class is key to passing. and put great effort into your term paper!

I did not like this teacher. If you like an entire class of copying down notes of what she says, then by all means take this course. I am a B student typically and this is the only class in my entire life I recieved a D in. The multiple choice questions on tests are questions that you've never heard until the test. Very boring also!

Boring class... All tests are made up of only essays one from regular book reading and one from extra reading. Grades on length rather than content. Hated this class!!! Im a B student, got a D in this class. Completely pointless...Switch Classes ASAP

I dropped this class after the 1st month. It seemed there was no end to the work she gave, it was just too much. She always wanted essays. If you missed a class, you were totally lost. She talked more about current events than about history or even the assignments. Didn't know what she expected of us. If you look at your book, it's written by her!

I absolutely loved this class. Professor Jacobson made my class fun, easy, and entertaining. The grading system consists of 3 Tests for 75% of your grade with 1 writing assignment and minimal quizzes. The work load isn't hard at all, if any, and the tests are strictly writing requiring nothing but critical thinking. Highly recommend this teacher.

I loved her. Even though her test are a little hard, she would tell us what the test essay might be. You had to study one or two of the essay questions or documents. And even though they might not be on the test it helps your study habbits out. She really wants you to pass and do the best you can. she is very nice and a great teacher

Hard Class!!! Don't wast your money on the text book never use it. She spend most of the class on current events. Uses power point the whole time. Hard to follow her. She has essay test only. So if you can't pull an essay out of your butt in 45 min then forget this class.

Don't buy the book, but you may want to spend the forty bucks on her document compilation, because she gives quizzes on those and they are very hard to research on your own. if you listen, and tell her want she wants to hear on the test you will do fine. the only people in my class who got bad grades either never showed up or didn't pay attention

I have never hated a history class so much. She is a nice enough lady but her notes are random words thrown on the page. If you do take her class, do NOT take it early in the morning, you will fall asleep every time.

Ms. Jacobson, is a very nice teacher. No homework, very little work. Three-four quizzes throughout the semester. Her exams are all essay, and she gives you chocies but she only picks one, so you have to be prepared for all of them! Teached off powerpoint, sometimes gets boring.

Dr. Jacobson is a Great teacher she makes jokes and tries to make the class as much fun as possible, I didnt use a book not once & I took his 121 & 122 I hate history but she was just that cool i said why not! Super teacher! Don't bother buying the textbook! Tests will come directly from her Powerpoint presentations and internet research. You may want to invest in the book called Voices from History, which Dr. Jacobson helped author. Two quizzes & some test questions come directly from that book. REALLY nice, teacher who CARES about her students.

Dr. Jacobson was by far my favorite professor. She is passionate about her foreign policy. This class isn't an easy A and it has no business being an easy A. You will be exposed to all different types of policy and you will receive what you put into your work. Dr Jacobson was also so gracious to write a letter of reccomendation for me this semester, so you can count on leaving the class with a new favorite professor and a new friend. She's excellent overall.

To fully grasp the lectures, you gotta take good notes and do some extra studying. It helps to know the basics beforehand. There's 4 tests, all essays. You can BS through most of it, but you gotta put in the time to study. Overall, she is a great teacher, but passing is all on YOU. Not an easy class, but if you're not lazy you will be fine.

Dr. Jacobson is an excellent professor. The Western Civilization course is pretty hard but she narrowed it down by her power point and your participation in class. She makes history class fun to learn and I did learn a lot from her. Just come to class and sturdy well then you will get a good grade for sure.

I was not excited about having to take a History class and I have to say it ended up being one of my favorite classes to attend. She is awesome. I look forward to taking her for another class. Her tests are only hard if you don't do the work. If you attend class and do the work you will do well. I'd totally recommend her.

I have now had Professor Jacobson for 3 classes. If I needed more classes that she taught I would definitely take them. Her expectations for the exams are clear and she gives you what material you need to study, she didn't rely heavily on the textbooks which made things nice and she has a great sense of humor when she teaches.

Dr. Jacobson is the best history teacher I have ever had. I never liked history because it was always so boring, she makes it as interesting as it can be for a non history buff like me. I highly recommend taking her if you have to take history at all.

Dr. Jacobson is an incredible professor, her intellect knows no bounds. Her knowledge of history and foreign policy is astounding, I learned so much. The information she gives is clear and she is extremely helpful. I truly recommend her for any history class you may have.

Dr. Jacobson knows her material and has a great sense of humor. She genuinely wants to see you succeed. She teaches through power point and lecture, posts everything on Blackboard, and doesn't surprise you with unexpected assignments.

Very clear expectations. 9 multiple choice quizzes, and two document quizzes. Drops lowest quiz grade. Two big essay-only tests and essay-only final. One research proposal paper. No discussions. Posts essay questions before each test that she will pick from, so study all questions (rec answering them all in Word first) and you will be fine. Easy A

Jacobson is challenging in a good way, helpful and quick to answer questions. She gives about 5 in depth essay questions to study weeks before the test and lets us choose from 2 on the day of the test. If you come prepared to take LOTS of notes, look at the slides she provides, and study hard (it is college, right?), an A is totally achievable.

Prof. Jabson is a brilliant teacher. I had zero interest in history up until taking this course. If you do the work, read over the material and take notes this class will be a breeze. I highly recommend anyone who needs this class to take it with her.

Dr. Jacobson is incisive and engaging. Taking notes can be confusing until you realize she'd prefer to have you think about what bearing historical events have on the present and what lessons we can learn from them going forward than memorize dates and key terms. Her class requires thought and work--all the best classes do!

I am an A student and this is the most confusing class I've ever had. The professor is really nice but nice does not help me get good grade. I never thought about dropping class until this one but I'll probable have to tough up and go through it.

I've taken Ms. Jacobson for three classes now, foreign policies, western civilization, and U.S History 2. All I can say is I'm so sad I won't ever have her again. I've never had a better teacher. Really gets the class thinking and wants you to think for yourself. The class is an easy A if you study. Highly recommend.

She not only wants you to learn history, but she wants you to understand the importance of it. Mrs. Jacobson shows the parallels between ancient western civilizations and modern times. She makes it easy to pay attention in class because she has quite the sense of humor. Her tests are easy if you study and take notes in class.

Western Civ. taught by Mrs. Jacobson is a good class to take if you're willing to work. It's not an easy subject to learn and they don't tell you that when you're signing up. Her tests are simple if you are good at essays, study a lot, and read the textbook. The lectures are dry and don't really grab attention, but she does have a sense of humor.

Ms. Jacobson is very detailed in her lectures. She also has a sense of humor that can bring down the tension in the classroom. As long as you read the documents you were good to go. However, do not expect any grace period when things are done. She is a stickler for deadlines especially test/quiz days. You will not be able to make up a quiz.

Her tests were not tests. They were essays. Her lectures were boring because she did not put any emotion or make it fun. Strictly notes, and half of the time you couldn't copy the notes because she would flip so fast.

Class consist of 2 map quizzes , one research project and 3 essay tests. She posts the test ? on board but she only chooses one or two from there for you to write on. The class before the test she tells you what to write about.
