Very hard class, she doesn't accept crappy work. One of the best teachers I ever had, even though I only got a C. Really cares about and respects students, but makes them work their asses off.
demanding teacher, but a wonderful teacher. never learned so much in my life
rude teacher
The worst teacher that I have had a Winona State. I recieved an A in the class, but that is only because I taught myself everything. She is disorganized, very unclear of expectations, and never gave student feedback. Very lazy.
The worst teacher.
On teaching probation. Makes everything 10x more difficult than it has to be.
AWFUL!!! MEAN!!!! AND VERY UNORGANIZED.
She gives no notes on-line, just a brief outline, so I hope you can write fast!!!
she is a bad teacher!!! WSU has to hire another professor.
This is one of the hardest classes I've taken. She almost seems to get her enjoyment by making things difficult for her students. You get used to things one way and she changes it. I think she is on a power trip and takes it out on her students.
The class itself isn't that bad. She's just an awful professor that doesn't know how to teach. With a class average that barely is a "D", her abilites need to be re-evaluated.
Good class..good teacher.
basically, terrible
She's bad. I heard that she was so bad she's not allowed to teach class anymore because she failed to many students.
I DON'T RECOMMEND FOR ANY ONE, SHE IS UNORGANIZED, HORRIBLE TEACHER.
i have a "D" but she is a great professor, i like the way she teaches
very clear on what you need to do, hard teacher and hard class, didn't seem like a learned much but I still got an A
Whoever said she was a good teacher is crazy!! This class is SO hard, I studied for 10 hours and still failed. Unless you have no life, you aren't gonna do good with her as a teacher.
She is a very nice professor, flexable and soft for her students. She treats all student equal. She is a real prof.
very hard teacher, hardest teacher and class I've ever had but you have to take her because she is the only teacher who teaches physiology
Hardest professor EVER! She gave us a 9 page study guide and none of it was on the test. Her tests are so hard. She's unapproachable too and has an attitude of superiority. People would ask questions and she acts like we're stupid for not knowing.
Not very clear during lecture, very very very hard tests, you could study all weekend and be lucky if you recieve at least and i mean at least a C.... shes rough no JOKE average grade she gives out: D
Ragsdales a+p class kicks ass. Its a "weed out class" but there aren't many other classes where you will be forced to learn as much.
She's a very nice person but not a good teacher. Her tests are super hard, so study lots! I recommend going to open labs as much as possible and study study study for the lecture tests.
Hard class overall but she presents the information well and makes you learn it. There is more extra credit as the semester goes on so don't worry!
ummm can't stand the woman...she's cocky and rude and gives next to zero encouragement or help. The tests are insane and her guidance is crappy. My advice? take the summer course and avoid her.
She really knows her stuff but has no idea how to teach it. The study guides she gives you have nothing to do with the test. Like others have said your best bet to learn the most and save your GPA is to avoid her classes at all costs.
She's a great prof! You learn so much & she engages students during lecture. The only reason you shouldn't get an A or B in this class is if you expect it to be easy & don't go. MC on tests is fairly difficult but study an hour & get an A, seriously!
She is an extremely hard teacher. The information she tells you is on the test, really is not. She formats the test diff. than most professors and that makes the tests ten times hard. She is a very hard teacher but knows alot of info about the topics.
I have never taken a class this hard before... Her tests are something from another world... I would not take her again for anything..
she was not very nice, thought she was the smartest dr. ever...horrible prof!
i studied my butt off and went to class everyday and still got a C!She has a bad attitude, the stuff she says will be on the test...isnt.The tests are CRAZY HARD!She likes to say "typically", "initially" a lot. She makes class impossib
Avoid taking her class if you want to keep your GPA. She gives study guides sometimes but don't even look at it because none of it will even be on the test. She's pretty smart but she has no clue how to actually teach it. The tests are unbelievably hard.
horrible teacher, avoid her
TERRIBLE, her tests are ridiculous.....she is mean & inconsiderate.
seems to think she is the best prof in the world...wake up lady..your not
Avoid her! She is inconsiderate and not willing to help.
Her tests were increadably hard, you can start studying from day one and you'll be lucky to get a C, shes smart and she knows what shes doing it just doesnt' all transfer. very hard grader.
Her tests are extremely hard! If you ever ask a question she seems to gasp at how stupid you are for having to ask. She is willing to hear suggestions (like a retake for an exam) but you better good reasons to back it up. She is very unclear on due dates and what she expects changes daily.
Watch out for this one. She is difficult and the tests are always different. So dont think the first test is anything like the second. You have to read and pretty much memorize the text book. Sorry, I may not have time...I am taking other classes too-- She is very smart, but not a good teacher.
i always heard horror stories, but they're not real. just lil freshman mostly that freaked out cuz they're not up to par. i didn't read the textbook AT ALL and i aced every test. study her notes from class only. hardest part for me was writing the lab reports. gotta put in some work for an A.
This instructor expects you to cram 4 chapter and quiz of only 5-7 ques. Who has the time? She is very knowledgable and knows it. Her exams are very difficult and her attitude matches. She killed my interest in physiology at Winona State and wasted my hard earn money..all to no avail...want to maintain sanity and your GPA. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
Tough, tough TOUGH...and do not care if you're strugling. Know it all who is out of touch with reality...Legend in HER own mind...Value your money, GPA and sanity....STAY CLEAR OF HER.
Terrible....very poor at getting graded material back....not helpful at all
Absolutely a fantastic person; difficult course material presented in a manner which doesn't necessarily help the learning process. Not much she can do about that though it's just a flat out TOUGH class...once again very nice person and awesome to hold a conversation with...WORK YOUR BUTT OFF you'll be happy in the end.
First day starts with, "I am a liberal, liberal, liberal, liberal democrat" Politcal ideology is fine, but leve it at home. Several class sessions include political rants, I want to learn anatomy and physiology, not political science.
why the hell does she teach this course along with bates?? TWO unorganized profs? bates is super nice; however, ragsdale is RUDE, unhelpful, and VERY unorganized. FLIES through lecture...literally going through an entire chapter in about 40 minutes....then expects you to be ready for an exam at the end of that same week. AVOID!
Seems like a decent knowledgable lady; however is very unorganized and doesn't respond to e-mails. She relates subjects to real life situations but goes very fast with bad visual aids. Tests are difficult and given with little knowledge of what is going to be on them.
goes through the material really fast. her diagrams make no sense. she goes through the whole chapter in one class. no one follows what she says.
For all of you who don't understand due to her Teaching style, you'll be thanking her later on in your college careers when everything she's done to challenge you helps you to surpass expectations. She's challenging, but do your work, study hard, and LEARN. After all that is why we're all here. Get to know her...fantastic person!!!
Lectures are a lot more clear than Wilsons!
She's pretty helpful, always willing to answer any questions. She's a hard grader, but it's a hard class so you need to be willing to work hard. Unlike everyone else I know, I actually like her as a professor.
She is AMAZING! I loved going to her lectures, she makes everything easy to understand. She will keep working with the class until they understand the material. Be prepared for difficult tests, she likes to challenge you and make you think outside the box, so really know her lecture material and the material in the book front and back!
Lecture is Clear. Tests are freakin Hard. OVer study and over prepare for them because they are harder than you think they will be.
Dr. Ragsdale is an amazing teacher. She explains things very well, answers any questions you might have. She wants her students to do well, and involves them in lectures. She does case studies with you to help you apply things on your own. She gives out free points here and there if you just do your stuff. Excellent prof, take her, not Wilson!
I thought Dr. Ragsdale was a great teacher. See gets you thinking about physiology. She is not a hard professor per say but raither the class is hard because you cover alot of material. Become interested in the class and read and study the book and youll find your self doing well and considering it as one of your best classes
A lot of people don't understand her as a professor and find it really difficult to get through her classes. If you listen in class, take notes on her powerpoints and take interest in the class it will be much easier. Also take some time to get to know her and use office hours, things become a lot more clear this way!
Dr Ragsdale makes this class hard, Yet you learn a lot.the tests are hard like in all of her classes but if you study her notes and read the book you will do fine. Her final is a lot of old test questions.not a lot of writing for a writing flag class though.I would recommend her if you want to actually learn something in cell biology.
Hard professor. She knows what she's talking about, but hard to follow. Read the book for a decent grade.
She was an extremely helping professor and very fair. Her tests really arent bad at all if you go to class and actually listen and study her notes.
Hard Professor - NOT very accommodating. 75 question multiple choice biology test? Gimme a break, I think I can construct a sentence at this point in my college career. She talks miles over your head and expects you to understand the content without ever having seen it before.
Horrible teacher. She thinks she is teaching med students instead of teaching college students. Makes her tests so you cant get an A. Class average for one of our tests was 17%. Do not take her if you can get another teacher. She is not helpful and if you ask her questions she will not help you.
I loved this class. It was challenging, but if you work hard and apply yourself, you can get an A.
Well if you were like me and took Loewen first semester, IT WAS A BREEZE!!! Hardly did any studying, but when I had Ragsdale I did on average 3-4 hours a day studying just for Anatomy and Physiology! That class was a huge pain, but she did an awesome job teaching you what you needed to know and kept you thinking. Yes she expected you to seriously k
She is a great teacher with tons of knowledge. She is hard though. She instructs at a high level so that some people get confused, but she has high expectations for her students. This class/teacher will require a lot of studying and work, but she is a great teacher. If you put the time into the class, you'll learn a ton.
You'll get out as much as you put in to be honest, but i found her to be really fun and easy to learn from. Her class is hard, but she makes it fun to learn and does expect quite a bit out of her students. I would highly recommend her. Plus she lets you use cheat sheets on all your tests!!! major help.
She makes her classes very challenging; however, it is possible to get an A if you work hard. The cheat sheets for all the tests are super nice! She also gives you attendance points at the end of the semester which are also helpful. Reading the book is one of the most essential things for her class though. I agree that you get what you put in.
Her expectations were clear in the objectives worksheets. There is no bull**** tolerated in your work (papers or tests); if you try to beat around the bush and BS an answer on a test, you will receive minimal points). Therefore, you should study and KNOW YOUR STUFF. She works very hard to give you the necessary tools to learn the material.
This professor is very lazy! She put up a rubric the first week, but hardly followed it. She scrambled at the last minute ti make up points. Her test questions were unclear and lengthy. I would not suggest taking her online class. Impossible to get an A.
Terrible Teacher, took her for Physiology online and she was useless. She changed the syllabus around so many times we had no idea what she expected of us. Test had nothing to do with what you studied either and she didnt curve even when 3/4 of the class got Cs... (I didn't but still not fare to them).
Pretty confusing professor. Her lectures seem like a different language, mostly because she goes so in depth and rambles on about one slide for a half hour. On the bright side, she lets you have a full piece of notebook paper for each exam and curves exams. Her lectures don't follow the lab material so it feels like two completely different classes
She rambles on in lecture and half the time you don't know what she's talking about. Read and know the book thoroughly because she is of no use. Her test questions are very hard and she is a hard grader. Also gives tests back weeks later. She thinks she's teaching medical students but she's not!!!
Honestly, she's really not that bad. Read the book, go to lab, go to open lab, go to s2i, STUDY. You get a cheat sheet for every test. The tests can be tricky but she curves. She takes attendance points by handing things back, so go to class. She also has easy "turn in" assignments that she doesnt really grade. Honestly I really liked her.
She is definitely a tough professor, but her class isn't impossible. You get a piece of paper front and back for tests. The final is cumulative, but you can use all your previous cheat sheets. Go to class, pay attention, and take good notes. S2i ALWAYS helps. She curves her tests!! READ THE TEXTBOOK. You get what you put into it.
I would not recommend taking this teacher. I wrecked my GPA. First C I received in college.
AVOID. A LOT of people dropped after the first couple days. Not very approachable or friendly and the flipped classroom style is not effective. You do case studies in class and are expected to watch additional lectures outside of class which takes HOURS. Tests are ridiculously hard, no cheat sheets. Ruined my GPA
Never responds to emails and won't give clear feedback on what is expected of you on assignments before or after completion. Blames students for not understanding assignments even when they ask questions that she never responds to. I would never take this professor!
First class I ever had to drop and I'm a straight A-B student. She doesn't post lab packets or lectures until minutes before class even though you're supposed to read over them prior to class. Tests are not straight forward even with a cheat sheet. If you take her in the fall the lab exams are fill in the blank. Not straight forward with anything.
I absolutely loved Dr. Ragsdale! Just pay attention in class, and make sure to write down all that she writes on the board. Her tests aren't bad, I never scored lower than a B. She's a really nice lady, and funny too. I was honestly scared to take her, but she is a lot better than she seems. The cheat sheets are an added bonus!
LOVE HER!! She gives a cheat sheet for each test. Front and back of an 8 by 11 piece of paper! Easy to listen too, and will answer any question you have. TAKE HER!!!
If you are willing to put in 20+ hours a week just reading the materials from the textbook you might do well. Her tests are heavily based off the book and if you don't read the book (in depth) and take good notes from that, you will not pass or get the grade you want. Lectures are hard to listen to and she isn't very understanding..
I took Professor Ragsdale for A&P 2 and overall had a great experience. I will say that sometimes lectures felt a little bit long (2 hour class/twice per week) but she is very clear in explaining detailed things. She stresses critical thinking over just memorization and gives you clear chapter objectives you should know before exams. Do the reading
Dr. Ragsdale makes Anatomy and Physiology manageable. The test is heavily related to the lecture, which is usually pretty easy to follow, and you get to use cheat sheets on all exams (even the final). You do have to work for this class, but I did not put an insane amount of hours in and I passed. I wouldn't have passed A&P without Ragsdale.
Dr. Ragsdale has been my favorite professor so far. A very nice person and has great stories. Going into the class I was scared because of the other ratings, but she is awesome. You get out what you put in the class, it's anatomy so its not supposed to be easy. Curves the tests and you get to use two sided cheat sheets which are extremely helpful.
Dr. Ragsdale was extremely unorganized. There was no syllabus to follow and she would make up assignments whenever she felt like it. Tests were at a level extremely above what she was teaching. We were not allowed to review them after to see what needed improvement as well. Would not recommend her.
Dr. Ragsdale made lectures pretty interesting and was great at answering questions when they were asked. She didn't have a very clear syllabus, and I never really felt prepared for her exams. We did get to make a double-sided note sheet for each exam which was super nice. She also curved the grades, but if she hadn't, most of us would've failed.
