Mrs. Suarez is a great teacher! I took her over the summer of 2006. She gives you notes to take, and then gets her quizzes and final exames from the notes. Very pleasant and personable. She is stern and expects you to do the work when it is due, I learned a lot and had a great experience with her!

she is nice
Great teacher, make sure you go to class and do the daily assignments or you will fail and she is a very fair grader of papers and just an overall sweet lady
great teacher!!!
Ms. Suarez is an excellent instructor. I took her for english 1301 and she was hardcore and to the point, but in a good way. She really does care, and is a pretty sweet lady. If you make an effort in her class, you should easily be able to make an A. Attendance is manditory and she is does teach almost directly out of the book.
Ms. Suarez is a great professor. She really cares and will help you if you truly make the effort to come to class and try your best. I took her for english 1301 and made an A. She teaches out of the books mostly, so if you don't have them, you will fail. She likes when people make an effort in her class... it makes all the difference.
Perfect teacher! I learned a lot, I loved the way she explained the lessons. Very well organization. Clear information about requirements. Challenging.
I wrote before that she was hard but the link put her class as easy. I put hard on here again, maybe this time it will work.
She wa a really nice lady , I had her last year. SHe was helpful and willing to work with you. Very strict and will catch you if you cheat lol. Keep up with homework and notes and the class will be a breeze
She is so sweet and such a wonderful teacher. She expects a lot from your writing, but she always provides you with the resources to succeed. She taught me study and writing skills that I will need for the rest of my college career. She is awesome!
I learned so much in this class. The homework was a little difficult, but she is an extremely nice lady, and very understanding.
GREAT TEACHER. I love her class. She really seems to enjoy teaching, which makes her class enjoyable. Her class is very structured, you will always know what to expect. I love this teacher!
She an amazing teacher. She fair on her grading. If you put in effort she will know. Do all of her online grammar assignments that are on her syllabus and do your writing assignments and you should be passing.
She's a nice lady and a good teacher. You have to read, and she probably assigns enough that dual credit students would barely have any time, but for regular college students, I highly recommend her. She will do everything in her power to help you ace her class if you do everything in your power to ace the class.
Took her class online, very helpful very fair teacher. And if you fail her class, you have to be illiterate.
Really good class to take it prepares your while not making it to hard.
I loved her class. She is a great teacher.
Amazing teacher and very structured. She was very fair and helped out as much as she could. There was quite a bit of work, but it was not hard to pass as long as you did everything that was expected. Really did help me out in grammar and in my essays. Thanks Mrs. Suarez!
Best English professor ever! Suddenly I'm completely knowledgeable about how to write papers (big deal for me, when I've always hated English). This is the most useful and satisfying class you'll take. It'll be time-consuming at times but you'll be motivated to do the work and learn something! Also, it's fairly easy to get a good grade. ;)
Great professor, she follows her syllabus. The course is challenging, but if you put in work and get people to peer edit your essays it is an easy A.
Great teacher! Very nice, and understanding. She comes off strict in the beginning, but she's nice as ever! Power points are exactly like the test so take notes WORD FOR WORD. I learned to write so many essays in numerous amount of ways. Great Class. By the way, you will use the book throughout the whole course.
Hate this class.I am a science major and I have a higher grade in my chem and A&P2 classes than her english class and not for lack of trying. she is very stict on grading and when I had issues and questions she wasnt helpful. grading says done within the week, but some papers due when similar ones still aren't graded.
She is a nice teacher. Helps you when you are absent allot, even if class attendance is mandatory. She has yet to put in grades from papers that were written weeks ago.
Great professor! The type of class I look forward to going to every single day. Of course you have to try, but she gives you all the information to help you succeed in this class, if you're willing to take the time to do it. She is concerned about all of her students, especially if they seem close to dropping. Overall best professor I've had
This is an online class for me she is a teacher that really push to the limit but you learn a lot from her online. She is slow on emails and grading your work but its to be expected with all the classes she has. Very understanding and helpful
She is a good professor and is responsive to e-mails. Is not as good about posting grades. Is fair and follows her syllabus and couse outline to the letter.
She was nice, class was easy, the grade isn't just given out as a gift you do have to work for it but its college so thats expected. She is pretty clear on directions. I never had trouble with email. She is slow on grades but she does have several students. She is pretty much awesome
Mrs. Suarez has an enormous amount of busy work per week that requires hours of reading and writing essays. Although this is expected for a college course, the amount of work seems excessive for a required composition class.
Took course online during reg sem.Overall her directions are clear.Lots of busy work but as long as you get it turned in ontime class is easy. Assignments are due every Sunday, I usually started on Sunday and spent few hours. Did not dedicate any other time during the week nor did i even log in.Good teacher, got a B
Show up to class, do the homework, read the powerpoints= A. She is very clear on what she expects for each assignment. Easy class if you show up and pay attention. Also, she Lets out early a lot, loved that!
I have taken her for both English 1301 and 1302. I'm currently taking her for British lit. She is a wonderful teacher, and will help you with anything. She is a tough grader, but she is fair. Don't expect an "easy" grade.. earn the grade you want. I have learned a lot from her.
A wonderful teacher. Mrs. Suarez is very helpful and straight forward about what she would like. She answers emails really quickly and comments on the things you need to fix in your writing. I recommend you take her class for Engl 1302 she was wonderful. I took this class online and the work wasn’t overwhelming. She does follow the syllabus.
She tries to be cool when she is not. She has put me on blast when i ask a question to her. When I ask for help she looks at me like im stupid. I absolutely hate this class and I dont recommend this teacher.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. She is rude and mainly talks about herself more then the actual material. She picks favorites and then picks on the one she doesn't like. She will embarrass other students in front of the class. I have not learned a single thing from her.
She is a tough grader but will reason with you. The class is overall pretty easy she'll give you bonus points on a quiz. She will not baby you. She will let you know if you're not trying in her class or if you just asked a stupid question
Easy, easy, easy. She is very crystal clear on how she wants things. The first 5 weeks may be rough with the material amount but isn't overwhelming. As long as you follow the guidelines for the essays you're golden. Quizzes are easy and straightforward. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Prof Suarez is an amazing instructor. Very helpful with her students' efforts in their academic success and achievement. You will love English Literature after experiencing Prof Suarez's teaching style on line.
I absolutely LOVED her! She is always in a good mood and is willing to help you out when you need it! The only complaint I have is we only got one of our six essays back and at the end of the semester a 100 was put in for all of the other work that was not graded. INCLUDING ESSAYS!! I made an A and there's hardly ever homework. TAKE HER FOR SURE!
This is an easy online class. She does give a lot of work every week but unless you complete it and submit it on time you'll pass this course.
She gives a lot of homework weekly but unless you complete it and turn it in you'll get a good grade.
This class is really interesting. She gives assignments from stories that aren't boring. And on the first day she shares something personal which makes you feel connected with her and wants you to actually learn. I recommend her, she will help and although it seems like she gives a lot of work, she doesn't. You just have to do it.
she is a good teacher, a lot of reading followed by easy quiz everyday. Three essays due the whole semester. if you go to her office she will help you. a lot of extra credits, not that tough grader. definitely not an easy A just like every English class, she even said that in class.
Professor Suarez is a very caring and understanding professor. She likes things a certain way, but overall it is a very enjoyable class to take. There are many opportunities for extra credit, and she gives you a fair amount of time to write papers. You are not loaded with papers every day. If you come to class, you will pass.
Prof Suarez is very passionate and knowledgeable, she LOVES what she does!! Her class is not a blow-off class, you have to work for your grade but it's not that difficult! Definitely recommend!
She is tough but worth every class. You must be there or you won't be able to receive extra credit on handouts. She is always willing to take time to help you with any assignment.
EXPECT A TON OF WORK. She will give you AT LEAST 1 assignment every class period, sometimes even 2 or 3, so if you miss class you WILL have zeros in the gradebook. She gives weekly quizzes over the readings. You will also have DQRs due every week for hw. THE WORK NEVER ENDS. I passed this class with an A, but a piece of my soul died in the process.
She is respected by students because she's a military veteran, but that's about it. She gives way too much work and doesn't drop any grades at the end of the semester. This class will ruin your GPA if you don't show up for every class and do all of the work given to you. Almost half of my class dropped. I do not recommend taking her!
Mrs. Suarez is a great professor. She will not spoon feed you and expects you to think for yourself. The class was fantastic and I enjoyed the selections of literature she chose, they were great! She makes class enjoyable! Be prepared for homework but overall, it is not that bad.
The class is an easy A if you make sure you do all the work and take advantage of the easy extra credit. This teacher is crazy and likes to talk about unnecessary things, but just push through the class and get your work done quick and you'll do fine. The midterm and final are all easy terms that people mostly already know from high school.
I took Ms. Suarez for Engl 1301 and loved her! I decided to take Engl 1302 with her this summer. Ms. Suarez will gave us reading assignments, the next day we would have a group discussion and a short answer question (DQR). She is extremely easy. Some students complained that she gives alot of work but I do not feel like this is the case.
Suarez is very passionate, she tells you what she expects from you up front, gives extra credit and she makes sure you have enough time to finish your assignments. She really wants to make sure you pass the class. As long as you read you will do great. 2-4 essays, quizzes on your reading (not hard). I took her for Maymester and it was super easy.
Gives good feedback a diffrent teacher type of teacher which is great she makes the class instresting and gives extra credit make sure you never miss it can damage your grade
Mrs. Suarez is fair. Not in the sense of quality, but in the sense of giving you the chance to succeed. She lets you know from the beginning how she expects the most out of her students. The material is not difficult. Just read the assigned material and show up. Just be prepared to speak in front of everyone every now and again when you "group up."
If you want a professor who knows how to lecture in a field she is knowledgeable of, find someone else. She reads off power points like a high school student might. She uses worksheets as a crutch to teach her class which make the class very easy but very useless. You can make an A easily but you won't enjoy it. She claims to be "tough."
I absolutely love Professor Suarez! She graded very fair. She gave out reading assignments and when coming back to class, we did group work and then took a quiz! She gave a lot of opportunities for extra credit and essays were easy! Even if you hate writing essays, like myself, somehow she'd make it easy for you! I recommend her 100%!
Her approach is different in a good way. The short stories chosen for reading are fabulous. She can give too much attention to the lazy students and have to hear about it each class towards the end. Overall, she's passionate and very knowledgeable. Fairly easy, just do the assignments. Also, take advantage of the writing center.
This class is laughable. Nothing we do here is useful in the real world. I have a week left and I can barely stand it.
She's a fair teacher and a nice person. Respect her, show up to class, and do the mostly easy work she assigns and you'll pass. A few papers and a couple of "word matching" exams are the most challenging part of her class. Lots of extra credit opportunity.
I took her for 1301 class is easy just make sure you do all of your work offers a lot of extra credit and sometimes open note quizzes she's very blunt and nags a lot but overall easy class to take
She deviates from class material all the time talking about her irrelevant life experiences. Constantly compares this class to her English 2 class and spends well over 30 minutes of every class talking about what she does and dosent do. Stay Away!
Theres alot of reading and she gets off topic every class. She doesn't really teach, we watch videos and read alot, that's where all of our test and quizzes come from.
If you plan to slack off and not go to class this teacher is not for you! You definitely have to work for your grade but this is college. If you do what she ask and requires Easy A! Great Professor and great personality! Does offer a lot of extra credit but you do have to put in the time for it! Many in class activities but only 2 exams!
If you just do the work, you'll pass. Nothing is ever TOO hard. We read alot of short stories and each Sunday there were 2 questions on the stories due in BB. We would do group work and then quiz on the stories each week and only had 3 essays, offers lots of extra credit. She makes everything very clear. She is also a really cool person and cares!
Life changing teacher! Write your papers, ask for feedback, put effort into your work. Mrs. Suarez cares deeply about her students and literature and is devoted to her work. She encourages you to be your best, and use the writing center. I enjoyed her very much for English 1301 & English 1302. I would highly recommend her.
Mrs. Suarez is fantastic. She is passionate and can seem over the top at first but you get used to it. She is a clear grader and I felt she was very forgiving on essays. She gives nearly unlimited opportunities for extra credit via the writing center. A fair amount of assignments are in class only so show up. Easy A if you do the work.
Mrs. Suarez is a great professor. At first she seems intense but, all she wants is you to be a productive and respectful student. Do the extra credit and exam reviews.
Wonderful teacher. If you do not show up, it is your fault if you fail her class. Is tough but makes you strive to be a better student.
If you hate reading, stay away from this course b/c you will read 5 books (about 240 pages long - all war related) but she does well at giving extra credit opportunities. Also, every student must give a 15 min presentation. However, she teaches discipline and very passionate about her lectures. Great professor :)
There is a lot of work to do in this class. If you pay attention, follow directions, and put some thought into your work you will pass this class. If you go into this class thinking it will be an easy A if you don't put in the time you will be sadly mistaken. DQRs are outside of class. Do them. Her feed back will help you on the essays!
This class requires a lot of work inside of class and outside of class. She requires DQR's to be turned in every sunday until the 14th week of the semester. I would suggest people dont miss this class because every class day requires a assignment that you really should not afford to miss. She can be really sassy and rude at times. She does her job.
Took this course for wintermester. The class seems intimidating at first but you'll learn a lot from this class if you just do your work as required. If you skip out on work or don't show up for class you won't pass. Simple as that. Gives many chances for extra credit. Wonderful teacher overall.
Mrs. Suarez is an amazing professor. She has her English II class complete Weekly DQR'S, but they are not hard. She is honest and wants to make sure you actually learn. Make sure you come to class for daily assignments. She responds very quickly when you're in need of help and I would definitely recommend her! Best English teacher I have had!
Mrs. Suarez is hands down a great professor. You will have weekly DQR's but you have the entire week to do them. Her midterm and final exam were extremely easy definition matching. Make sure to show up due to daily assignments. Long as you do the work and put forth effort you will be fine. I ended with an A easily. 1 book required for class.
This teacher doesnt not give you good feedback when it comes to essays. She will write a little bit on your final draft and expect you to know what to correct. The rough drafts are graded by fellow peers. And I paid for an English class to learn from a teacher with a degree not another student with a HS diploma. I would say she doesnt try.
She has an acquired personalty that some (including me) may not care for. There is an assignment every class period, quizzes, group activities, a lot of reading and an assignment based off each weakly reading. She's not an unbearable person just not my cup of tea. If you're not willing to show up or work for your grade Do Not take her class
Mrs. Suarez was pretty intimidating at first, but she wants her students to know her expectations on all assignments and wants things done correctly. She can come off a little mean but she eventually lightens up. You definitely have to work for your grade in her class. Work inside and outside class. I had to earn my A. Just show up and do the work
Overall a decent teacher and knows what she is doing. However, she loves rambling at times about her life story and has a really strong personality that is almost discomforting. The work presented is simple and easy to understand, but her instructions are what make it more complex than it needs to be. Take her as a last resort.
Professor Suarez is really passionate about literature. She really cares and gives clear instructions repeatedly to assure students are not left with any questions.
good instructor, 6 essays, she is straightforward. she has you reading and doing assignments, and taking quizzes weekly. but i so didn't like how she would talk throughout class, she would tell you to sit, read, and answer assignment questions, and then keep talking about random things in a furious tone and that was soooo distracting.
If you do the work above the average student, then she will take the opportunity to find other ways to critique you. In my class there are some people who don't meet her minimum requirements, yet they still pass. She plays favorites. She's not appropriate when addressing students. She treats her classroom like one would in a high school.
Loved her! She is very passionate about her class. BE ON TIME NO EXCUSES! Homework due once a week. She's stern but in fairness, everyone needs a little discipline. This is college, no classes are a breeze. Everything is explained and you know when everything is due. Do your work you will pass!
She will grade ur essays as if youre supposed to be an author, doesnt help much either, but she tries I guess
I took Professor Suarez for both comp 1 and 2. She is tough. She grades pretty strictly, but she does it because she wants you to learn! She has improved my writing skills so much. If you actually want to improve, take her. I love her attitude towards teaching. She is not there to be nice, but to mentor to each one of her students. Extra credit too
She is a great professor. She does assign a lot of papers but they are not difficult. She offers great feedback and is super responsive to emails and any questions. She also offers extra credit on essays as well.
Just Don't there are plenty of better Prof. at tcc, She is nice but she has a negative attitude towards the class. She assigns alot of papers which is not a big deal but she is a tough grader and gives little to no explanation on grammar.
Professor Suarez has a nice demeanor. However, thats where the good ends. She has a negative attitude towards her class and tends to criticize every small problem. She treats her class as one would a high school class. She grades semi-heavily. However, I wouldnt consider her class to be too difficult. If forced, I would take her class again.
She is straight to the point. She is very friendly and kind and awesome but she doesn't make excuses for people. She is tough as nails. But she does give people extra chances to fix mistakes and help them out when they are in a bind. I appreciate her she worked with me my semester.
This professor is amazing and offers great feedback. There are clear expectations on grading criteria and all the assignments are organized and clear. Reading is important for quizzes and the midterm and final are on only vocabulary.
I took this teacher in my Fall 2021semester. Overall, she was an tough teacher to work with. She was very critical when it came to grading and even when she was at fault, she never edited my grades. One thing I disliked was how would she would constantly raise her voice at the slightest amount of talking. Sometimes we would just need help.
doesnt grade too hard but doesnt really leave a lot of feedback either. extra credit for going to the writing center (very helpful). talks about herself a lot. overall she was ok
The class itself was very easy. She was very unprofessional in always bringing her personal problems into the class. Once she picks on you once, expect it every time. She also speaks to her class as if we were high school students. I guess some people like that but I am an adult.
Every week, she had a lot of homework to complete like reading two stories, as well as a pair of online quizzes, which saved my life. She's a tough grader who listens to everything you say, yet her class examinations, such as the midterm and final, were over voacbs, which helped a lot of people. Also you had to talk in front of people
She's a good teacher. If you are present and are able to understand her grading system then you should pass easily. There's work every week, and you aren't able to make it up unless you have a doctors note or something official that excuses your absences. There's group work mostly every week up until poetry unit. She picks on students too.
Talks about herself a lot. Her grading makes it so its very hard to get an A but very easy to pass, feels kind of unfair. She does give extra credit on some of the papers and her in-class assignments are pretty easy. The finale exam is also super easy and will help your grade a lot.
