Ms. Bishop is a wonderful teacher!

An awesome teacher!

She is very energetic when she lectures. She is willing to answer questions. She's very helpful and considerate. Unfortunately when I took her, Her tests are really hard and I studied really hard on them and still had bad results.

Mrs. Bishhop is a very fun and interesting teacher. Her tests are somewhat challenging, but if you study and pay attention, you'll ace the tests. If you don't she does offer a lot of extra credit:) Take her class, you'll enjoy it!!

This is one of my funnest teachers that I have right now. She's given me A's on all of my speeches and is so kind and constructive with her comments. I loved her! I did not want to take speech and she helped me to overcome my terrible fear! She is so funny and nice and smart. She tells great stories and is full of positive energy. Class is NEVER boring!Great energy and passion. 1st speech she grades easy & starts 2 grade harder by every speech.Winter session ur able 2 use notes,drops 1 test(cant use notes on final). 3 for easiness only cuz test r real tricky (cuz concepts are simple)- i dont think u can use notes for spring/fall semeseter. I actually learned in this class

This teacher explains everything you need to know in the test. She hands out a study guide. She is extremely nice. I took her debate class, I was extremely nervous but trust me, she makes you want to do it over and over again. TAKE HER! you will not regret it! VERY VERY nice and sweet lady. Her accent is so cute too.

Prof Bishop is fantastic; an extremely knowledgeable woman. Her class is very straightforward-- she tells your exactly what is required of you. She is one of the best professors I have had. (4 speeches are required -- 3-5,4-6,6-8, and 8-10 min. -- if you fail to do them you she obviously cant do much, although she is gracious with her grading.:)

After reading comments on here I decided to take her. She is always smiling (or gritting her teeth I can't tell) but very impersonal. If you like speech you'll like her, if you don't you won't. I don't and I didn't.

Don't be fooled. While Francesca's class is certainly easy (I missed more than half the classes and still got a B), and she is helpful, the class is a total waste of time. Instead of a focus on constructing logical, strong and sound arguments, the only thing you really do is demolish your opponents arguments. Lie, deceive, and mislead to get your A

She's great! My favorite teacher at elco. The class was reasonable. Test are a bit hard if you don't study. Everything else was great. I'm taking her again next semester!

Always made lectures fun & interesting. You really do have to work to get an A. Sometimes she has a way of making you feel stupid & can be strict, but only for your own good. I keep recommending her to all my friends! Don't take her if youre expecting an easy A, only if you really want to improve your public speaking skills.

Francesca doesn't tolerate students flaky or lazy students well, but if you want to learn she will go out of her way to help you. She came in early to meet with me and really seemed to care. Franchesca is the best choice for your public speaking teacher. She's fun and bubbly. she gives you the exact layout for your speeches. She grades easily and gives extra credit. Fun Class, she is one of the few teachers that respects that students don't have endless amounts of money for textbooks, so she allows older versions of the textbook on the syllabus to be used. She is very quirky. And if you're not into the subject, she's pretty good looking, and dresses well. That's always something that takes the edge off.

Do the extra credit and be on time for class it can really make the difference between a B and an A! If you do all the assignments it should be easy. Prof. Bishop is extremely nice and upbeat, overall the class was fun!

She follows the syllabus to a T which is what I like. She gives a few chances for extra credit which can really help your grade out. Very nice lady, has a cool accent and she also dresses nicely. The final test was based 100 percent on the book, so don't skip out on buying it.

She's great however she has this attitude of "it's my way or the highway." Do the work, read the book. If you're scared of public speaking, you'll survive. The class is relatively small. She gives opportunities for extra credit.

Teaching is not Bishop's world. You basically go to class, watch a movie or take notes (which, if i may add are straight from the book-- not helpful!)I could've learned what i did with her if i stayed home, rented out half of netflix & read the book. I loved this class! Francesca is funny and engaging and very supportive. It's not for procrastinators, though as a lot of work has to be turned in at the end. You learn at your own pace, by analyzing videos.It's up to you how much work you want to put in--it can be an easy class or very challenging.

This class is very interesting. everything is straight from the book which theres several edition so you can get the text book cheaper if you get an earlier version. theres 3 exams she counts only 2. movies are a must to watch. the test are not hard. they come from the notes and textbook she goes over evrything in the notes.

There is nothing bad to say about Prof. Bishop. She is one of the nicest people and has a genuine caring for her students. I took her mass media class and loved it. It was a very easy going class but I definitely took a lot away from it. If you do the work there is no reason you should not pass with a C or higher

I love Professor Bishop. She has a funny accent-- mixture between British and American. Try to get her to say "mosquito" :). Anyway, there are 4 debates. It takes a lot of critical thinking but make sure you do all the extra credit opportunities. Debate is an entirely different world, so only take it if you like games like chess and arguing.

Hands down the most beautiful professor at El Camino (pictures do not do her justice). She is exceptionally intelligent and although questioning the status quo may push her buttons and put you in her hate zone, overall she is a phenomenal human being and wants everyone to do well. She offers extra credit and grades reasonably.

Professor Bishop is amazing. You have 4 debates and 2 papers. If you're not fond of public speaking, this class will make you tolerate it. This class will open your eyes to different world of debate. I strongly recommend!

She's great at what she does & just make sure you impress her on your first debate so that way it'll be a cake walk grade. & there's only one exam. & is difficult if you don't study, I studied just twice & passed with a B. Debate isn't what you think it is either, there are rules. Follow them.

I am pretty introverted and quite nervous to take this class. This class requires quite a bit of knowledge & research of topics for your debates. There is 1 speech, 3 debates, 1 exam, & 2 papers. She gives detailed notes, however the book is needed for the final. Absolutely enjoyed this class and her upbeat energy and would recommend both!

She is not a bad professor she really knows what she is doing that's what I like about her but beware she grades hard on the Fallacy Assignment! If you make one mistake on the Fallacy Assignment she gives you a 0! But if you take her be prepared to do alot of critical thinking and work and she didn't explain the Fallacy assignment clear enough!

I have had professor Bishop for two semesters,I am sad i won't have her again. She is a GREAT professor! I learned a lot in debate. She does require the textbook, we didn't use it much, only for our 1 test. She grades the debates pretty easy, got an A on every debate & am terrified of speaking in front of people. This class boosted my confidence!

MUST TAKE CLASS! Such an eye opener to so many things and so many life lessons! Must buy book! Bookstore sells for $150, got it on amazon for $17! Test are kinda hard so you NEED to read the book. There are only two presentations, a self presentation and group project. Great class, everyone becomes a family. Sad its over :( BUT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Professor Bishop is amazing! She really loves teaching and is passionate about what she does. Her tests are somewhat difficult, but it's an open note test. Do not wait until the last minute to do her assignments. They are easy, but take awhile to do. She's great and I loved having her as a professor!

The assignments aren't hard, but it's definitely a load of work. Exams are open note, but it's timed so you need to be prepared and she provides plenty of extra credit opportunity. Don't miss lecture because some info isn't in the text, she plays a lot of videos, but overall the class was chill and she is a fun professor, engaging and informative.

First and most importantly, what an amazing teacher. She is so full of energy, humor and passion that it get you hyped before every speech. Mass com with Francesca was the closest to a life-changing experience as a class can be. (Though she did say we were her best class ever.) I learned so much more than I ever expected to about politics, media, life, and myself. You can't procrastinate because she accepts late work for half credit and that will mess up your grade. Amazing teacher. Makes sure you have a clear understanding of each assignment. With her there is no such thing a stupid answer. By the end of the course you will not only love her but your far of public speaking will go away and your critical thinking still will be a lot better than they were. However, I learned so much from Francesca that I took argumentation with her before finally joining El Co's Speech and Debate team (the top ranked CC team in the US, btw). She's an engaging lecturer, passionate educator, and dedicated mentor who has changed so many lives. Take her class!

Great teacher with great lectures bc she talks about real world issues such as race, relationships, etc. she gives extra credit that's easy. The essays can be a challenge if you don't study but overall they are pretty easy. The only bad thing was the group project. a student from our group did bad in the presentation and our grade suffered bc of it

Had a deep understanding of debate, often used current events to relate to class, and has deep connections to other teachers in her department. A true expert on communication and a amazing person overall! Easy A as well! Would have got an A as well if I did not miss out the lab!

Professor Bishop is an entertaining teacher. She had a new discussion each class and wanted opinions. You see many documentaries/videos on the chapter lecture, yet all the lectures are online for you. She is open minded and tells you all assignments needed in the beginning of the semester, so no surprises.

Francesca Bishop is genuinely a good person and instructo. The scope of her lectures cover the textbook well and the real-world examples she uses connects with the material. Her interpersonal class was an eye-opener for my self-improvement and I feel that I grew as a person. Her communication style is masculine and can come off as strong to some.

This course consisted of a few tests, one term paper, a group project, and some journals. Do your work, pay attention to the lectures, and most of all read the textbook and you will get an A. She's really awesome and hilarious, she wants her students to really voice out their opinions. There's 3 Exams, she gives you study guides a week prior to the exam, open notes exams, 3rd Exam( Final) is optional. One group project so chose your group wisely.

This is a great class right now because Francesca wants you to voice your position on political issues and you do t have to agree with her. In fact its hard to tell where she stands. She cares more about the process of debate and critical thinking than which side is correct. It was inspiring.

I love Franchesca! She's hilarious, an excellent professor, and British. I took COMS120, a speech and debate class. The only thing you need to do to pass this class is show up and SPEAK. There's not much writing or reading involved, more so research on what you're going to say. She grades by your analytical skills and speaking mannerisms. Take her!

Francesca is the best teacher i have by far during coronavirus. You can tell she has put a lot of thought into how to make the online version valuable. I am so sorry i didn't have her in the classroom the whole semester but i am grateful anyway. In addition to being brilliant on debate she gives funny sweet life advice on how to be happy.

Francesca's class was the best by far I had during the stay at home. She says she is putting it online permanently and if she does TAKE IT. She shows so many shocking and entertaining videos that made learning easy. The discussions are relevant and for a boomer, she is very current! (And she would be OK being called a Boomer)

I took this class over the summer and although there was a lot of work (prob because it was summer), it was interesting. Some amazing videos to watch. Francesca is always available. If you download Pronto, she responds within minutes, sometimes at 10pm! She does optional zoom meetings to chat and help you with any problems. I loved the class.

Francesca did all she could to make a difficult class understandable online. She is always available and the optional zoom classes were really great. I loved the subject and wished it could have been in class but since it couldnt, this was next best.

She is really great. She gets the difficulty of online education and was always available to help. She responded to almost all the discussion posts with insight and humor and gave detailed study guides for the tests. She answered emails usually within the hour even on weekends and had optional zooms to get to know us and make sure we were ok.

I loved this class. I learned so much and am sorry it is over. The most important thing is to watch all the videos (some of which are embedded in the PowerPoints). They are really fascinating and ON THE TESTS. Francesca is always available but the class is clear so you don't really need help.

This was the clearest, best organized online class I have ever taken and that made it easy to be successful. I really liked that Francesca responded to almost all the students' discussion posts. I knew she actually read them so I tried harder to do well. She was very complimentary also. I loved it.

This was an honors class and even over winter it was manageable. There are a lot of videos to watch but the supplemental material was sometimes shocking and always entertaining. Francesca was reasonable and sympathetic to Covid issues; I really wish I had been able to take her live. Great class.

Francesca is the most caring and funny professor. I loved the class, especially her comments on the discussion forum. They were thought-provoking and nice to know that in an online class, she knew who I was. I am in her Mass Communication class this summer, also, which I hear is great.

I took it over the summer and it was pretty easy. Weekly discussions, two exams, a few papers, and a few other writing assignments. Her lectures were ok, you mostly use the textbook to find answers. The first exam she graded really hard, the average was low. Overall I liked the class, not sure if I would take another one with this prof.

This was the best organized online class I have taken. The assignments are clear and spaced well. Because this was a mass media class, there were a lot of videos to watch but they were fascinating. (Dont skip them because there are test questions on them.) I got Covid and Francesca was understanding and allowed me to make up work.

She made the material relevant and i almost started to enjoy politics--i definitely began to understand how policies are passed. This was the most valuable class I have taken so far at El Camino. The material is relevant to your life and I learned so much more than I thought I would. Francesca almost made me want to join the debate team! She is encouraging and fun. Just take learning the issues seriously and you will have a great time.

Professor Bishop made all the material very engaging and I enjoyed learning about all the different topics in the class. She is very easy to reach and a fairly easy grader for all the discussion posts and chapter questions. There were 2 major exams and one small movie quiz which were all very easy, and she does offer a lot of EC if needed.

exams are difficult but as long as you do the study guide it will help alot

I loved this class. My perspective on mass media really changed. Quite a bit is graded on completeness, so you can still earn an A in the course even if you get a C on the exams. There is also extra credit. Be sure you watch all the documentaries and TV episodes, as there are exam questions on them. But they are fascinating and eye opening.

Great way to get BOTH honors credit and fulfill IGETC reqs for cal states. Professor was a fair, VERY easy grader. For the summer, expect 4 speeches, each getting a bit harder. Weekly discussion posts, a bit of writing, and 6 weeks later, it passes by quickly. You do speeches by sending her a YouTube video, and an outline. Offers some XC. Recommend

Participation definitely matters, there are only discussion boards that are 10 pt. And a midterm and a final with two sets of chapter questions that go with each and are about seven questions and a page each question. So you need to make sure you at least do everything in completion to get a an okay grade/ C

lots of movies and writing in this class but its pretty interesting. if ur not on top of it (like me) you wont get an A but as long as you complete all the assignments you should be good

This was the best organized online class I have ever taken. It was very clear what to do and how to succeed. The material was interesting also. I just wish I had taken her in person because her recorded lectures were great. If you do the work, it's an easy A, especially if you go to the extra credit, which is to watch a fun performance at school.

This is a great class. You watch TV shows and movies and discuss how they changed society. It is very straightforward and quite easy as long as you follow directions. A lot of work is graded on completion, which means you can get Cs on tests and still get an A in the class. There is also extra credit,

She is great. Entertaining lectures and easy assignments. Tells you exactly what she wants in assignments and is a light grader. Responded quickly, had a sense of humor, and was chill overall. Gave free extra credit at the end of the semester and gave a ton of time for final speech. Overall easy class and extra honors assignment was super light.

A compelling class with engaging media content. Grading leans towards completion, so you can still earn a solid grade with average exam scores. Unstuck ai proved a helpful study tool alongside the assigned readings and videos.

Francesca loves debate and she made me really like it too. I learned so much more than I anticipated--most about America and society. She has her own opinions about some things but always makes you feel that your opinions are as valid as hers. She is also funny and kind and I will be taking every course she teaches.

I took this class over a 5 week winter session and it was a lot of work but I learned so much. I wish I had taken it in a regular semester because I really enjoyed it and would have done better (I got an A but I feel the quality of my speeches would have been better with more time). Francesca responds and grades really quickly which is nice.

Took Bishop for Comms 100, 265, and 130. Talks a lot but is a good teacher. A lot of unnecessary writing for 265 and 130. Work is really easy if you follow instructions. Seems like a good person--all three were online. Would recommend taking her. Tests are open notes, but I recommend studying. Good extra credit opportunity.

Francesca's online courses are extremely well organized (I also took 265). The material in interpersonal is engaging and the activities are really eye opening. You can get by with faking a lot of them but if you do them they will affect your life. I find myself thinking of them through the day and I've even changed some behaviors. Take it!

Fransesca's classes are very well organized. Extremely attentive, blunt and funny, and gives the best feedback. I initially thought she was super intimidating but she's genuinely one of the kindest people I've met. Her feedback is honest, and constructive but always delivered with so much kindness that it makes you want to improve.

I did not like her when the semester first started, but as time went on I really got to see who she really is and I grew to like her! She does have some heavy assignments but she gives plenty of time to prepare and will help you along the way, she is very nice and caring.
