Strazzullo's teaching style is a bit disorganized. He doesn't teach directly from notes, and lectures while writing/drawing out the practice problems and concepts on a tablet. He always uploads these after class. Thick Italian accent, very nice, lets Calc 3 students use textbooks/cheat sheets on the tests, but they are still very hard. D2L Quizzes.
You have five tests, including the final exam. If you score 82% or better on 4 of the tests, you don't have to take the final. Homework is graded as quizzes. Pay attention to his study guides. If you understand those, you'll do fine on the test.
There is no reason why his class is as difficult as it is. The tests are short. 7 questions and it seems as if he pulls at least three of them from thin air, expecting us to know the material. The MyMathLab hw was ridiculous. Ex.) 75 questions for one assignment and you have 3 days to do it. He does not teach in steps and his accent distracts.
Assigns a ridiculous amount of homework, tests are very hard and they are only about 7-8 problems. He doesnt allow the entire class time to take the test for some reason, so I feel rushed when taking the test. He doesnt teach towards the test at all and the ridiculous amount of homework doesnt help either. Just do not take this professor.
He doesnt respond to emails, his lectures are ineffective and if you have a question about it, hell give you a condescending answer. I had to basically teach myself everything. His homework is ridiculously long, and he takes forever to grade tests.
dude this guy is terrible. His lectures are hard to follow and when you ask a question he acts like you're stupid and should already know. He goes on rabbit trails when he teaches. He literally started teaching economics during class for no reason. he doesn't care if you dont understand. Dont take him, hes terrible
He is the worst math professor I have ever had. He is very hard to understand with his accent and he is horrible at explaining everything. His class lectures are all over the place. Tests are nothing like homework. Provides no guidance on what to know. Tests are 6-10 questions and his grading makes no sense he just marks stuff, gives no feedback.
Just don't take his class. I had the option to drop and I didn't because I thought that he couldn't be that bad and I was wrong. The exams are on the most obscure things from each unit, he takes forever to grade exams, started teaching econ once in the middle of class, etc. He's also really weird about what he considers to be "healthy" test avgs
TOO MUCH HOMEWORK! Its done online, and it's not a sensible amount of homework. (60-80 questions near-daily) The tests are even worse. They are 6-8 questions, with more than half of it being some of the most random questions, not even being from the last 5 weeks. Don't even try to ask a question or point anything out. he will just be condescending
He is literally the worst professor I've experienced in my life. His lectures will not help you prepare for the test (if you even understand what he's saying). He even started teaching our class economics when we had a test the next class day. There is something seriously wrong if our class test averages are in the 50's and 40's...
He has a thick Italian accent and is hard to understand. We have too much online homework and classes were pointless to go to. The only benefit of going to class was getting your tests back. He grades fairly quickly within the week. I had to use the online homework explanations to teach me everything. He takes the tests directly from ALEKS
Good teacher over all. All the bad reviews are most likely form lazy students who probably should not earn a degree from any university. Yes, some of his tests are somewhat difficult, but if you actually read the book and do practice problems from the book... the class is very easy. He gives lots of partial credit, and lots of bonus HW assignments.
Little tough to understand. Too much homework. Tests are tough , but he does thoroughly understand calculus and teach to the best of his ability.
Worst Professor I've had so far. Periodt!
You'll have homework due online every week so don't procrastinate. His handwriting and talking is kind of hard to understand. His lectures are very boring and long. The things he does in lectures don't go with the homework or test so I never really went to class. tests were 8 questions and pulled from the homework and you can bring a formula sheet
His class was unnecessarily difficult. You cant really understand what he says half the time and the homework load is insane
His accent is very hard to understand. I would get confused on what he was talking about and would get lost very easily. A lot of online homework and in class quizzes. Tests are very hard but gives credit for doing the work even if the answer is not correct.
Nice guy, but not the most effective lecturer. Prepare to do a fair amount of independent learning from ALEKS. Tests are 6-8 questions--very tough and sometimes over material not covered in class. Show your work and he will give partial credit.
This teacher is a very hard no from me. I could barely understand him the entire semester (thick accent) and he based almost the entire grade off of the homework software, ALEKS. The homework was mentally draining and too much to keep up with. Not a good idea overall. Dont take if you have other options.
Strazzullo has a thick Italian accent, hard to understand, very stubborn man. The HW is through the online program ALEKS which is extremely easy to use. The test questions come from ALEKS so I never paid attention to his lectures in class. There are 4 tests (7 questions each) and a final exam. Final can be exempted if class grade is above an 85.
Nice guy, but Im not rating him on that. His accent is hard to understand and I had to spend most of the semester learning from the book. He has 4 tests with 8 questions and usually at least 1-2 of them are something that was not covered in class. Takes forever to grade but is pretty good with partial credit because the class average is failing
4 test 1 final 1 Hw grade. Lowest test dropped. Hw is weekly no bonus exercises. Tests are nothing like what is done in class or on quizzes. Tests are random, poorly worded application problems you will have never worked before the test. Test avg is usually failing or 60s. Tests are written as if it is a graduate level class.
If you only go by him your expecting 40-60s on your test. Calc 3 is on Youtube so start there on day 1. Tests are extremely challenging if you go by his notes. Tests feel like graduate level work. They'll have things nothing from the HW. Test will have applications(0 practice) and complex problems that will take you double the time of your hw.
Lets get one thing straight, Professor Strazzullo is a great teacher. You will learn a lot in his classes, what I like about his class is the difficulty, you will do problems that are so hard your ptsd from doing the problems will make you remember how to do them for the rest of your life. Where he goes wrong is his evaluations which are terrible.
This is the worst professor I have ever had. He is very aggressive in the way he emails and he does not fail to tell you that you are stupid very blatantly. He is not helpful at all even when you ask him the right questions. If you take his class you better have a tutor lined up to actually teach you calculus because he wont.
Take this class if you would like condescending emails. In his introduction lecture, he sounded friendly and kind, but the way he responds to questions, he does it in a way to make you feel belittled. This was one of the most difficult classes I have taken.
Rambles in lecture and you will definitely be teaching yourself. I recommend watching a lot of YouTube videos and getting a tutor.
As a person, Dr. Strazzullo is pretty funny and cool. As a teacher? Not so much. He teaches you as if you already know what you're talking about, so it may feel like you're missing steps. Also, be prepared to teach yourself. There are loads and loads of homework, it's unreasonable and the tests don't match what he talks about or the homework.
Prof. Strazzullo's class was very confusing and hard all semester long. He has a very thick italian accent which is very hard to understand, and each week you have 2-3 long HW assignments and a discussion post. You have 4 tests (only 8 questions each) including the final, and he gives you chances to do corrections barely adds any points back.
Prof. Strazzullo is an amazing teacher. He's cool and friendly. Just make sure you practice the Test Key before taking the actual test. He sounds aggressive in emails? I guess he's an Italian so he might not use English words naturally. But I'm pretty sure he means well.
Doctor Strazzullo is not as bad as people make him out to be. He does give really long HW assignments and a group post every week with the same repetitious content on each. His accent is not bad at all and very understandable. He does not make you feel dumb if you ask questions or if your unclear on a topic. Overall, not that bad.
Im so frustrated with this class, after the final was posted a few days ago, I finished the class with a 75. when I looked at it today, it somehow dropped an entire 8 points to a 67 with no explanation and no time to fix anything due to final grades being posed two days from now. I worked hard in this class and passed every exam, and still failed.
One of the worst Professors! First, he has a very thick accent causing misunderstandings quite often which would be okay, however, he is condescending when students ask him questions. His teaching style is dry and he overloads huge amounts of work with unreasonable time limits. It is also impossible to reach him as he completely ignores his emails.
He is absolutely not a good calculus teacher. If you must take calculus, do not take him. For my major I have to take 3 calculus classes, and I had his Calc 1 class. It scared me, his grading was very tough and there was way too much homework. His tests were barely over what was covered and he grades on showing your work and showing "neatness".
Have a 95 in the class right now but have to work really hard for it. I do not go to class because him talking makes it even harder to understand the concepts. Homework thats repetitive and the same question 20 times with different numbers. Grades tests very tough, if the answer is right but the work isnt exactly what he wants he takes points off
This class is brutal. By the end of the semester over half the class has dropped it. If you are an excellent student able to stay on top of an insane amount of Homework he is great. All the exams are based off the homework. Lots of extra credit assignments but it's needed so the class doesn't fail. Do not take, waitlist for someone else.
Literally the worst way to ruin my semester. If you want to live stay away! The homework takes all the time out of your life. It's all repetitive homework assignments and super long hard to understand lectures that make me depressed. Just focusing on finishing homework was a full time job!
He doesn't care about your grade, overloads you with homework, and gives tests with problems you have no practice working out that sort of relates to our topic. If you need a good GPA this is not the class homework is graded for accuracy and you're given butt loads per week, and nobody would pass the tests. Also, he will laugh at your failure.
A great professor! He is always willing to help and work with you. LOTS of extra credit is given through notes and homework. 2-3 homework assignments are due weekly. Discussion posts are due weekly. Exams are given biweekly usually 6-8 questions but graded in a very specific way to the way he teaches. Allows 1 index card for each exam. Good Luck :)
His explanations of problems were confusing/unclear; when anyone tried to ask questions he was blunt, rude and not welcoming of concerns. He was unhelpful + impolite when I approached him about my disability plan through KSU. WAY too much homework graded on accuracy. His only redeeming quality was extra credit and allowing notecards on test.
If you dont show work/ do formulas exactly how he wants you to do them you will lose a bunch of points on his tests
Honestly Dr. Strazuzullo is not as bad as most ratings say. He uses ALEKS for a lot, but there are tons of resources to help you,: he posts old tests, flashcards, instructional videos, etc. Just ask him questions, he'll give you credit on tests for any type of work, he does care, he is just heavy deadline and will not drop or extend deadlines.
One of the worst professors I've had at this campus. His accent makes it very difficult to learn from & understand him, his thought process when lecturing is very confusing, doesn't explain things well, WAY too much homework through Pearson, & tests are nothing like homework or in class work. I did everything I could to try and pass, but oh well.
I made my first ever C in this class. He is the reason I discovered this website. I do give him a high grade though because I actually did learn a ton of soft skills in this class on how to get a decent grade on work that you truly have no idea how to do. Also gives partial credit on exams which saved me from failing. Thanks professor.
We have a discussion post as well as homework on Aleks every week. If you stay on top of your work and don't fall behind, this class will be a breeze for you. His accent does get in the way sometimes as well as his awful handwriting, but it is not bad if you know what is going on. There are 3 tests plus the final. It is a lot of work but it's easy.
He doesn't teach with powerpoints or steps, instead he just works out random problems on the board and it is very hard to understand his writing and accent already. Lots of homework, and 6 major tests. I learned 10x more of the subject in the tutoring sessions than in his class. He does in class work as attendance. Grades very strictly on tests.
He gives multiple extra credits so you cannot fail his class. His attendance is not mandatory but highly encourage to join his Microsoft teams if you cannot be in person. And also, he has discussion posts about the video you watch on Aleks and it is every week.
Discussion posts every week, Aleks homework assignments and you have an in-class assignment every class. He doesn't give PowerPoint or anything, he picks random problems and solves them which is very hard to understand sometimes because his accent is very thick, so you kind of have to teach yourself. He also grades very hard on the test.
He is honestly a nice guy but the class was hard. Discussion every week, and homework 2-3 times a week. The problem was the lectures were boring and unorganized so I had to teach myself all of the content. Tests are not so bad once you figure out how he grades. Gives extra credit so before the final I had a 99, the final was 24% but it wasn't bad.
While the content of this course isn't too difficult, the way he teaches this class makes it 100x harder. The amount of homework is insane and you will be spending multiple hours a day trying to finish it all, not to mention you will have to teach yourself everything. The 2 hour and 45 minute lectures are absolutely useless and confusing.
Really sweet guy if you try to talk to him. Hard to understand with his accent. Get ready to teach yourself a lot through aleks
Please do not take Strazzullo's class. He's a great person, don't get me wrong, but as a pre calc teacher he's just awful. I have to spend hours a day teaching myself the material on ALEKS, and the homework load is just outrageous. The way he weights his grades doesn't make sense. It seems like the course is designed to make a hard subject harder.
I personally loved Dr Strazzullo, he does give a lot of homework but I don't think that's his problem really, it's more of a software that the school uses problem. He's funny and engages well with students. I tended to skip lectures but whenever I was there he helped explain things in a way I could understand.
Too many ALEKS assignments, takes forever to respond to your emails and questions and doesn't tell you where you went wrong at all on feedback on the tests. Get ready for a long semester buddy.
If you can take another professor, please do so. He was the worst professor I've ever had. He did not try to help out in class, or out of class. If you asked him a question in class, he would say "You should already know" and laughs, literally. Half the class failed with him as the professor.
His accent is very strong. There is always almost 3 assignments due every week. There is a lot of group work, so be ready. He does not like to wrong, and he talks down on students when he is in the wrong. He doesn't do a good job with explaining assignments, he confuses us more.
No test or quizzes but 3-4 group Projects. Hard to reach outside of class and bad time management. Tells about assignments weeks in advice then never talk ab them again while also talking ab ten other topics.
What's hard about this class is having time management skills while also living your life because of the 8w I would also like to say a lot of self-teaching was going on during this whole course. He had example test from previous years which helped me prepare for the test. He had example test from previous years which helped me prepare for the test.
This professor hands out a lot of unnecessary work and he isn't clear about what he want the students to do. He rarely ever offers help and laughs at you when you don't understand something. I would not recommend this teacher to anyone even if its the only option.
I had to withdraw from his class because I could not handle the workload from ALEKS, if you are taking math Don't take College Algebra. Go for something lighter like STATS or anything else, he was a fun teacher though! I would not take it again, it was a lot to handle.
I would not recommend any student to take this professor either for csm or math, he manages to be awful in both. His explanations don't make sense, his work load is over the top, too much homework that mainly relies on groups and if your group is not good then your grades will suffer. he chooses the groups. do not take, horrible at teaching.
Avoid this professor at all cost.
Do the homework's, attendance is for extra credit, and He normally expects you to know what you're doing every class for every homework assignment. If you don't, he gets mad and upset, doesn't do notes just shows like 3 examples for the whole hour and a half class period. I would not recommend unless you know how to teach yourself the material.
he sucks, worst teacher ever
Hes alright, but the problem is that the way he grades tests are weird. Basically, you have to learn the materials yourself. The SI in there was helpful as well.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND TAKING THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL EVEN IF YOU'RE THE STRONGEST OF SOLDIERS. He is terrible at communication in and outside of the classroom. Instructions to assignments were many times unclear and he refused to assist. Additionally, this class is primary based on group assignments which had no clear focus. RUNN!!!
literally the worst, don't recommend. i literally had him for the simplest class ever and he was still the worst. he should get an award for that honestly.
Save your time and please do yourself a favor and pick another prof for CSM. If you enjoy group work then maybe this is the class for you. The professor grades harshly and if you make the smallest errors you will lose points for doing so. He is also hard to reach by email, and office hours are not correct.
If you like teaching yourself, choose him!!!
Please take any other professor besides him.He spent almost half of the class time taking attendance, and the rest doing ALEKS problems. He does NOT teach and is NOT helpful in the slightest. Besides that he is a funny and nice person, but that doesn't really count for much if he doesn't do his job. I wouldn't recommend his class to my worst enemy.
The Professor is not very effective at explaining the topics we are studying in class. He assigns a lot of homework, which is quite challenging. When I asked him questions about the material, he either couldn't provide an answer or simply did not respond. While he is kind, I cannot recommend him for your class.
The only reason I got an A is because I'm good at math. However, if you aren't good at math I do NOT recommend. If you have to take this teacher double check your tests because they will mark answers as incorrect when they are as well as if you don't "show" your work they will mark you wrong even though its an easy to get answer.
The lectures were disorganized and often didn't align with the exams, which made it hard to know what to focus on. When students asked for clarification, responses were vague or dismissive.
He expects you to learn from the material the day before lecture and the textbook isn't even straightforward and he simply doesn't teach or explain the topics well enough for you to understand and there is legit a test every 3 weeks and he doesn't even leave you a proper week to study. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU CANT SELF STUDY
Words can't describe how much I dislike this professor. He graded everything very late, and his modules often took around six hours to complete. He doesn't know how to teach, so you're left to figure everything out on your own. On top of that, he assigns a ton of work that barely affects your grade. Avoid this professor if you can.
Truly could not explain a topic to save anyone's life. The exams were very difficult and it would take him months to grade. Do not take him if you can not self learn topics quickly.
This is my second semester taking him and if you don't like to teach yourself, I wouldn't say he is the teacher for you. He is such a sweet guy though and only does 3-4 practice problems during each lecture. Attendance isn't mandatory but there are group assignments and you have to be there to get credit. Lowest test is dropped. Take with caution.
If you love your life do not take him as a professor. He gives out zeros for no reason that tank your class average and never fixes it and never gives you enough time to self teach all the material on the test.
doesn't explain what he wants with projects and every single person is confused. ON TOP OF THAT instead of taking time out of the class to explain the assignment due that day he brings in speakers and when u ask a question he rambles about things i DIDNT ask lol. Once he said we got a A for a project but gave us all C's?? take if hes ur last option
OMG, do not take this professor. I have no idea how he still works here. He's rude, extremely unclear with instructions, and the assignments are not easy at all. I expected this class to be simple, but he's a very tough grader and really hard to communicate with.
Difficult to understand
Genuinely not a good teacher. He doesn't like to explain himself well, so you end up teaching yourself all the material. Take other professor if possible.
When I would walk to class I would not look both ways before crossing the street. If you struggle with math even in the slightest way DO NOT TAKE HIM. So sassy, so hard to understand. Oh and he also never grades anything on time ever. Good luck
Do not take this class. Even from someone with a 4.0, If you have this professor DROP IT! Instructions are always unclear if they are provided. He lowkey got a lil mood n sass too him so beware... but he overall sweet, just not the best at teaching.
The only thing good about this professor is that he can be nice... occasionally. You will have more than one major assignment a week. He doesn't believe in providing instructions. He is rude when you ask for clarification on directions. He doesn't grade anything until the last week of the semester. Do not take him as a professor.
Don't take him if you don't want to do 4 or 5 assignments per week. Doesn't teach in class only goes over random homework problems he expects you to already have done in the beginning of the week. Takes forever to grade. Blamed the class when the class average on one test was a 42. Don't expect him to email you back.
Worst class I have ever taken. Nothing gets graded, the year ended with 12 grades missing from the book. He didn't clarify due dates, when assignments were due it would take months to get graded if ever. Avoid this professor at all costs.
Every negative rating is accurate and true. Asked him about my grade and he tried to brush me off and I realized he was watching soccer highlights during class. Sweet, but can't teach at all. You're better off doing a fully online class. He barely goes over the coursework and his methods are confusing. DO NOT TAKE.
