He's soooooooo easy. He's soooo helpful. He' emails you the test review sheet and tests you from that sheet. You can only get an A.
He is a great professor. You'll not fall asleep in his class. The test are easy because he goes over it or reviews a class before the exam, and the estra is go watch a movie and give a review, awesome.
fun teacher..makes class interesting...do the extra credit and look at your emails....if you do that you will pass with a good grade.
Great teacher
Hes a cool guy and his class is pretty interesting. He reviews all the tests before hand and tells u everything there is going to be on it. If u do all the movie reviews (better yet go to the field trips-theyre easier) & Xtra Credit-ull get an A-done deal
this man is awesome!! EVERYONE at PCC should take him. the class was easy, if you actually pay attention, and he really likes teaching. He is a one of a kind professor....and dont forget to watch NYPD....
This professor is cool. We watch lots of videos (at least once a week) and we have just 3 test with one extra credit, and 2 movies (film/play) review. I got a B, and I didn't work that hard.
make sure u do well on the reviews and take notes for the test or u better study for those tests.. gets kinda boring on some of the videos but its ok if u can pay attention and write ALOT OF NOTES
Great teacher, great class. He is very clear and paying attention is easy since he is funny & witty throughout his lectures. After the lecture you watch a movie and then go home. He helps you by giving important clues that will help on the tests. Take him, especially if you work & need a night class.
Take him!lecture about movies and pop culture stuff so its not that boring. test are little hard, and focus on T/F because ther are lots of it.you doen't even need to read the book cuz he email everything to you.i got C on all tests and did only 1 movie review but still got B.
Great human being and an awsome professor.
good teacher
A five-star teacher all around. Course breakdown: three tests (premidterm, midterm and final); two reviews (movie, play or museum piece);and one extra credit assignment. Try not to be late or leave early because he will penalize you. Hope this helps my friends. God speed.
Great teaching, interesting subject material. Hard to get on Prof. Catalano's bad side. No homework, only graded materials are two arts reviews, and 3 tests. Provides outlines of each section/for tests.
Very practical in method of teaching. Very fun learning environment with lots of videos in class. Great individual at heart with genuine interest in students' education. Very open minded and easy to talk to. The professor is enthusiastic about the subject, knows a lot. Exams are relatively easy for students who follow in class. Highly recommended.
This professor is really an attention-grabber. He talks a lot about his experience in theater drama. He gives you a eview sheet befoer the exam, just study the whole night before the exam with the review paper and you'll be fine. t/f questions are somewhat tricky. Do all of the assignments and participate on extra credits. Not easy not hard.
It was okk...Seemed to bullsh*t information at times and boring at times...I didn't learn much that I wasn't learning in my Art History class. Nice and Easy teacher though!
great teacher, must do your review and study a lil bit before the test. you will ace the class with no problem. lectures are pretty interesting, except for his videos. just pay close attention to his lecture and you will ace the class.

He's very cool. Best class I took at PCC. He makes u watch movies, cool ones too. take this class.
He's very cool. Best class I took at PCC. He makes u watch movies, cool ones too. take this class.
he's ok. take his class. its interesting.
AWESOME! BEST TEACHER EVER! HAVE TO TAKE THIS CLASS!
I learned a lot from this class and it went by really fast. I like Prof. Catalano a lot! He is super nice and very knowledgeable. If you have to take Humanities 1, make sure you take it with this teacher. He is pretty easy. There are 3 tests and 2 reviews (really easy). He even tells you what the short answers on tests will be! Take Prof. Catalano.
Catalano is a great teacher. Unfortunately, Humanities is boring. Mr. Catalano knows his stuff when it comes to art and theater, so you can learn alot from his lectures. Homework is easy: two reports. I have two gripes about the class though. One, the videos he shows are so boring! Two, a typical test will have 60-70 true or false questions.
1/3grade based on attend.take notes, go to class. He gives you study guides, pretty useful, t/f exam with written essays, but he prompt U on the essay questions in advance if you don't go to class don't think you will pass by just studying the test study guide
Great Teacher!! I loved his class! Take him...easy class!
This is one of the easiest and most interesting classes I've taken at PCC. His lectures are funny and informative. He has the easiest test and he reviews the information on the tests just before so it's fresh in your mind. The two projects he assigns are easy enough. Plus, there is extra credit. Easy easy A! Wish I could take his class again.
his class was funny and easy. give out 3 extra credit which can get full mark easily. just study the notes and he'll give out test review before every test, study test review and u will get an A for sure. highly recommend.
catalano is an awesomeee professor. he is so easy and he basically gives you the whole test during the review because he gives you the test questionss and many questions
Very easy professor..class does get a bit boring if you are not interested in art and theater but overall a good professor.
Really nice and funny professor. No real homework or quizzes. 3 test, 2 theater reviews, final. Given 1 extra credit exam to drop lowest grade in class. He may seem easy and say he is because he DOES give you all the answers prior to test day, but its like 22+ pages of notes to memorize. Tests consist of fill-ins (Fair), essays (easy), T/F (HARD).
I liked this guy. He e-mails all the notes to you so you know exactly whats going to be on the test. i didn't buy the book and still got a B. class may be a little boring but overall i recommend him.
Mr. Catalano is a great teacher who is passionate about art & theater. He is clear in lecture & uses stories & examples to clarify. He is quick to reply to email and is helpful & understanding. A couple of theatre reviews, tests & extra credit assignment. Interesting class & good teacher!
Great teacher, he makes class fun and he is clear on his lectures. His notes are all you really need for the test.
He is considerable and helpful. He well knows how to teach and to plant the knowledge in our head. I appreciate that I could find many interests in the field. Thank you, Professor!
A very kind and sincere professor who is witty and very active with his lectures. Although this class is easy, you still need to put in a little effort to receive an A. Simply no need for textbook, listen to his lectures (they're on the exams), do the extra credit, and watch movies for the reviews. Overall one of the top notch professors at PCC.
Knows his stuff. I really learned a lot about the arts. More that I was ever familiar with. Very clear. You do have to do your part to get an A, but the work is worth it. I highly recommend his class.
easy as long as you study his handouts. no need for book.
This teacher is really cool, he was a USC professor. This class is very easy. To compare with another Human4 teacher Forman, Mr Catalano did teach something, take him, you will get A
His CourseReader is useless. Most of the content is copied from the book. We have to buy it only for three coverpages. He also doesn't allow us use copies of his coverpage. May I ask, who wants to spend 30 bucks to buy only three coverpages!! So he is just a thoroughly profiteers.
He is an AWESOME professor, one of the best I've ever had. He makes the class fun and interesting with his acting and drama voices. Boring movie to watch at the end of every class though. Tests are simple, he emails a study guide of whats exactly on the test. Very sweet & nice guy. He will gladly help you with anything if you need it! RECOMMENDED!
Passionate teacher just pay attention in class, take notes, and do the critical assignments and EC to pass...
Fun teacher, tries to make class lively with jokes, accents, he's weird but enjoyable. The course reader he makes you buy sucks cuz you only use 2 pages, but its mandatory. He's in the entertainment business so the critical reviews are based in that area, watch a movie/ play/ visit museum, write a review, EASY. Tells you exactly whats on the tests
Professor Catalano is AWESOME. he is really passionate with his teaching and he is definitely not boring! study for the tests, he gives you a review sheet and you will be fine! great teacher i recommend this class 100 percent!
Boring..probably because it was a night class, but I must give him credit for trying so hard to engage us. He is quite the character and if you do the reading and assignments you're sure to ace the class. Assignments usually include going to the movies, a play, or museum and writing about it. (Easy right?)
Good professor but he will let you buy textbook that can't be sold back because it comes with access code. His tests are medium. IF you study, you will pass and get good grades. As simple as that. There's 2 tests, 2 movie reviews, extra credit movie review and final exams. He drops the lowest one grade final exam is not included. He is so-so.
Don't buy the book PCC tells you to buy at the bookstore because he has you buy a different text. This class is really good for those who are interested in art history. If you don't find art history interesting, you'll probably think the class is super boring. Lots of memorization of art periods, artists, media types, etc
Prof.Catalano is a very nice, helpful, and knowlegable professor.I took his class during my first semester at PCC. I was so scared because English is my second language. But his tests are very straightforward and he will drop the lowest test score. Also, do all movie reviews because it will help to boost up your grade.Best Professor at PCC+Nice Person.
I took his class in 6 weeks and got an A! His class is easy and he is a really nice prof! I would take his class again just for fun. I had two tests and 1 final- T/F are tricky, essay is easy, and fill in blanks are easy. One of the easiest class I have taken at PCC. Only thing i didn't like was the boring videos we watched in class. Take him!!!
He is an awesome prof! Took him during ext spring semi and got an A. He is super easy!!!!! He goes over what will be on the exam and makes you prepared! Only thing I didn't like were the videos because they were kind of boring. But overall I recommend him!! I wish he taught more courses so I can take him again! EASY A!!!
This class seems super cool but it is quite boring at times. It focuses on the history of art but he's a cool guy. He's a bit full of himself, but a good professor. Class is based on 10 activities you do from watching a video in class, 2 tests, 1 final, and 3 critical reviews on movies/plays/or galleries. There is extra credit, take the class!!
The tests are incredibly HARD. I saw that pretty much everyone in my class was getting D's. The text book is a book that he wrote and it's full of typeOs. The lectures were extremely boring. He does NOT have power points or notes so if you are a visual learner(as many people interested in this class may be)don't bother. Nice guy though.
Absolutely no structure to the class making it extremely difficult to know when or what to study. Must buy text book written by him and filled with spelling errors, excessive rambling and organized poorly. Do not recommend.
His class was really fun. He was very entertaining and kept the class interested. He is very passionate for what he does and loves to interact with his students. There are only three tests and are very easy if you read. DONT BUY THE HUMANITIES TEXTBOOK POSTED ONLINE. He has his own textbook that he requires you to buy. He'll tell you what to get.
His class is very entertaining and is easy. His classwork and homeworks are easy and he doesn't quiz you. He also tells you whats going to be on the test which is awesome but theres alot! He makes you write about three essays for each tests and there are also true false questions.
Professor Catalano is a cool dude. Really enjoyed his class, attendance is mandatory if you want to pass. Tests are rather tough but he offered huge extra credit at the end of the semester. Oh and you need to buy HIS textbook, about 90 bucks. I believe he said he curves final grades if needed; he really wants you to do well.
He's charming, witty, cultured, and charismatic. I would date him, but this is not a dating site. Do the weekly assignments and study concepts he tells you are going to be part of the essay questions and study guides, and you will do well in his class.
He is probably the funniest professors I've had the pleasure of meeting. He makes the class fun and interactive, I must say that although the class is chill, the tests are no joke. Homework due every week, not hard at all. The tests are the only thing that stressed me, but definitely possible to get an A . Take him, I don't regret a thing.
Professor Catalano is so funny and very passionate about the humanities. He was very easy to get ahold of through email and the classes and assignments were straightforward and so interesting. You must do all the readings, responses, assignments and participate in every class but you will be rewarded with a good grade.
I took him Fall 2018. He is a funny Italian guy that also teaches at USC. You get an online book that you use to do your HW. His class pretty much consists of him giving a short lecture followed by watching a video & then answering some questions after the video. His in class essay tests are terrible which is why I dropped his class unfortunately.
This is the easiest class I have ever taken and it blew my mind to see some people struggling. You literally show up, he gives a short lecture, you watch a movie then answer some questions about it. Tests are super easy essay questions about the things you learned in class, and he gives you the questions a week before the test! Super easy A!
I took Professor Catalano during the COVID switch. I loved his online Canvas lectures and assignments. He was always available for questions and concerns. I learned so much about the world. This class was easy and fulfilling. Thank You!
Easy A. Not at all a heavy grader, but still had reading quizzes, videos, and discussions to post on the same day. We would have these due about twice a week.
Assigned work every week due Friday, and can easily finish within a couple of hours. He is very clear with the criteria, and your opinions are never wrong. He also takes the time to leave comments on your work which helped me stay motivated. Overall, very easy and organized class.
If you work a full time job I wouldnt take this class because it requires a lot of writing and reading and watching sometimes 2 hour videos and then a minimum 500 word essay about the video every week. It's become quite difficult and the professor absolutely does not accept late work or give extra credit. He advises you to finish your work earlier
Get ready to write more in this class than any english class you have ever taken in your life. Minimum 500 word essays every week. Be prepared to watch videos up to 2 hours and write about it. Minimum 500 words every week for 10 credits. Exams are the same amount of work for 50-100 Credits. The teacher is an idiot and loves the power trip.
Great class- consists of 3 assignments a week-1 discussion, 1 timed quiz, & 1 assignment based on a documentary style video. A bit time consuming with the video, BUT he is a very fair grader and instructions are clear. You purchase the textbook online and it has all the info you need for each quiz. Final was easy if you have been paying attention.
Since this was my first time registering for classes, I accidentally took the course that started 2 months later which caused more of a scrunch of homework. Besides that, every week consists of 1 or 2 modules worth of assignments, read the specific chapter and it's really easy, he gives you a lot of time to do assignments.
His class is mostly just him yapping. He's pretty funny though, no hate. His class is an easy A if you complete all the assignments. It consists of the same assignments every week - 1 quiz, 1 discussion, and 1 writing assignment. Getting the writing assignments done could be a bit time consuming but it's a fairly easy class overall.
he was amazing with his letures , i was scared of failing but pass with a B recommend him
I have to agree with all the negative reviews. Do not expect him to be understanding even when you have legitimate difficulties completing an assignment. Have to buy HIS textbook. More writing heavy than most English class. Get ready to watch up to 2 hrs long videos every single week.
Great professor, you can tell he loves his job. Gives good and direct feedback . Will recommend this class.
I just came here to rant. He made us buy a $70 dollar textbook for a 6-week summer online course. Thank you very much Professor, thank you for being understanding and making college kids purchase an unnecessary book for a silly summer course.
Awesome teacher who cares about his students!
This professor loves packing in the homework, assigning between 6-9 homework assignments a week Then have the audacity to say they don't take late work. I would not recommend. Do not teach in a short week if you cannot arrange things where you don't have to cram the students learn to teach. I'm really happy that I'm out of this professor's class
P. Catalano is the one! If you are wondering who is the best, it is him! He is caring, the assignments are super manageable just do not procrastinate. He is kind. The work actually makes sense to do. PLEASE TAKE HIM! I took him for spring! Thank you professor! I recommend the 8 week course if you can handle it, definitely worth it!
Professor Catalano is great. He responds fairly quickly if you have questions and works with you if you have an issue. He is very clear on his grading and if you pay attention and do the assignments and participate, it's easy to pass his class. He makes it fun along the way, too. I would definitely take his class again.
Easy class but he's problematic. A coursepack is required but he didn't update at the bookstore, so those of us that purchased through the school had to repurchase a week before classes ended for more money. He blamed the students, not bookstore. He also gives cookie cutter feedback, which tells me he didn't bother to read my papers or responses.
$70 textbook pack, all material the exact same except for like ONE assignment (assigned like a week or 2 before end of term, that HE wrote) so he had us purchase the "correct, updated" version as if he couldn't just do everyone a solid n copy-paste of the instructions.. + lots of videos/movies (minus lecture) and detailed analysis questions on them
Easy class for the most part but I would not take him ever again. I can tell he recycles every assignment he gives from past classes and doesn't care to proofread or update anything. Doesn't believe in punctuation. Makes you pay 70 bucks for his course pack. Relies heavily on turnitin to grade assignments for him.
