Dr. Duah is a very caring professor with a great ability to teach. He often asks students to participate. He's ready to answer any questions, and re-explain examples thoroughly. After all, his research interest is in mathematics pedagogy, and so he's always eager to find a way of teaching that works for everyone.
One of the best profs
Brilliant prof who cares about students' understanding. Well spoken and will make sure every student is satisfied before moving on. Definitely would take again if I have the chance.
Professor Duah truly cares about the students success. He is always asking us to participate and ask questions as he wants us to understand the material. He is also very accessible if you need help with problems or questions. He reminds us that it is okay to make mistakes when completing problems which is very encouraging. Overall an amazing prof.
He is one of the best math profs I have seen at this university. This man takes time in his lectures and allows students to ask him about anything no matter how small or big the question is. He will not move on to the next topic unless every student understands the concept. I respect this prof so much. If you have him take good advantage.
Great professor he cares, and he teaches well.
Lectures are very slow paced and often not useful. The examples used during lectures are very simple and do not prepare you for homework problems. However, he is very engaging with the class and will answer most questions.
Dr. Duah is a fantastic professor. He goes over many examples during his lectures and explains topics well. He really cares about his students and hosts frequent office hours and study halls to help prepare you for the quizzes and exams. My only complaint is that his lectures are much slower paced than they should be. Overall, I highly recommend!
Duah is an amazing proff. He likes to pitch in one unexpected question every test which is kinda annoying but other than that I like everything about him. Even if it takes all the Lecture hours he will make sure to ans your questions. Also if the contents for the week are hard he will organize a study hall to make sure you do good in weekly quiz.
Cares about his students. His lectures are a bit slower-paced than most other professors in my other courses, but he goes through examples and gets the class to participate in them. His teaching style might be too slow for other courses, but I think that his style made calc 2 an easy A for me.
Professor Duah is a very passionate teacher and has a great personality. My only criticism is due to the very slow pace of his teaching which doesn't enable the class to go through a diverse set of examples. In some lectures, we only ended up doing 2 questions.
Phenomenal professor. Extremely caring, consistent and prioritizes his students. Not the fastest lecturer, but he covers all the topics he needs to cover. Consistent with exam material, no surprises from him.
good prof for calc 1
Dr. Duah is not a bad teacher and really want to do well his lectures but the issue is that the content is not clear enough and he doesn't do enough examples. He lost too much time to talk about something else than the topic of the class and doesn't go straight to the point for me. At least, he wants to do well.
Honestly, I have a lot of respect for him; he cares for his students and is willing to help them succeed. He likes to get the class to engage and won't get mad at anybody for making a mistake. He is open to different answers and does not restrict the method to his only. He is a bit slow, but besides that, he is a really good professor!
He's basically if your high school math teacher was asked to teach university students. A very kind and helpful professor but his teaching needs to improve. He cares too much about intuition and theory and not enough time doing examples. Overall, choose him if you are good at self-study and you simply want an easy professor.
over all a solid prof
Great Prof
This prof is honestly so easy going, he is super nice and doesn't care if anyone asks any dumb questions. If you asked any questions in class he would make you feel like that was good question you asked and make you understand the concept very easily. He is a very nice guy and cares a lot about his students.
Excellent professor who has a genuine passion for what he does; delivers course content effectively and encourages discussion in lectures. Super nice to his students.
To be honest, I admit that Duah is a fantastic prof bro. Like man is my best friend and hes so sweet, caring and nice for us engineers struggling with pcs study halls. Resources, study hours, and office hours - hooray! are the best things that this man brings. 10/10 would attend again :D
He was a very kind professor. Not once did he make you feel bad for asking a question and was very approachable. Although his teaching is a little slow, he makes excellent questions in his slides to solve and honestly prepares you to do well in the exam. Make sure you understand the concepts well as the midterm is free marks if he makes it.
Dr Duah is amazing! Great professor, very helpful, and great at explaining the continent. He does so many study halls that are very beneficial to go to as a lot of the questions disused in them appear in the exams.
Great lectures. Always smiling and cares about his students. Best calc prof there is in my opinion.
The lectures were okay, but not engaging and often hard to follow. They were also not very helpful when asked questions.
a really nice dude who wants his students to succeed. the only problem i have is that he needs to do more solving questions in class that aren't the basic examples he gives in the slides. sometimes he'll skip lots of slides and he'll take a long time to upload the slide answers on d2l as well as quiz feedback and lab answers.
Doesnt have a weird sounding accent, all his classes are easy to understand, but i feel he focuses more on examples than properly teaching the concept. but overall, a decent prof.
Francis is the best professor I've ever had in my University experience. He is extremely understanding and truly cares a lot about every individual student. He takes extra effort to make sure he provides specific resources for you on concepts you need help with. Take advantage of his office hours it will benefit you a lot. Try to get into his class
He is not really a good professor because he never really explains properly and he rambles on about stuff which the students need to hear the material and move on to the next subject. So he needs to know that the final wasn't really good but here is the one good thing about this course, he marks easy for the assignments, quizzes and midterm.
Duah is a good professor to have for calculus. His lectures are slow and he goes over the important material. He only teaches what needs to be taught and tells us what to expect for exams, midterms, and quizzes.
Caring, funny, a total blast! He's a great lecturer, but it is sometimes easy to fall asleep in his lectures. But if you pay attention his lectures help a ton on tests and exams. He's super caring and kind when you ask him for help, and he genuinely seems to enjoy what he does. He often let us leave early if we got through most of the material!
Duah is a professor who cares for his students. Before the final, he hosted a study hall that had similar questions to the final exam. He also stated the topics, what to study, and what not to study for the final. Personally, I only went to his lectures for the first couple of weeks, and then the rest I self-taught myself because I got lazy.
Best teacher of first semester engineering.
MY GOAT, THE GOAT
man gave away midterm tips, i love my guy
I have never seen a professor more passionate than Francis Duah. 5/5
THE BEST prof of all first year imo. He deeply cares for his students, and is extremely approachable and encouraging. He teaches clearly and slowly that will make all the hard questions manageable. He WANTS to see us succeed and do well, and does everything he can to ensure that. You can tell he loves his job and his students. Im gonna miss him sm
Outstanding course coordinator, you are graded on a lot of things so your mark is very balanced, many ways to learn course material (overall solid lecturers, online materials, weekly quizzes, lab progress quizzes, fair midterms). Very caring and hosts study halls and Q&A sessions.
An amazing caring prof with superb slides and awesome lectures. A lot of opportunities to learn and ace the course.
Duah is a good prof to have if you aren't that good at Calculus. He goes slowly over new topics, helping students' understanding. His lectures can, at times, not be very engaging but cover what you need to know for exams. He genuinely cares for his students though and he is definitely one of the nicest profs I have ever met. Also, he's British.
Mr Duah is a G. He slowly goes over units during lectures, accommodating to those who struggle with calculus. Attendance isn't mandatory, he prepares you for quizzes, always willing to help you out during lectures and office hours. He also has a sense of humour. Simply, the goat.
the best tmu professor hands down, my goat one and only duah
He could be slow at teaching just to help others struggling. Other than that, he is an excellent prof. Reminds me of KSI for some reason...
The midterm was awful. Feel like the whole calc department does not go through the right examples to prepare for midterms. They just stuff information at you honestly.
he wastes a lot of time during the lectures but doesnt really cover any topics
This guy makes the finals so hard. Ik a bunch of people failed it and he's not trusting when he says the mock exam is similar to the finals.
Mr. Duah is overrated. As the course coordinator, he didn't provide useful insights for exams or lead study halls. His lectures often go off-topic, and he skips many examples, assuming students already understand. This approach leaves much to be desired for effective learning.
This professor was honestly amazing. The final was honestly easier than the mock exam, and I am greatful that he was our course coordinator. DUAH ON TOP!!!!
Duah gonna talk tuah about calc, good lecture but really long exams
honestly was expecting better because he is super hyped up. Just average though. Good guy but exam was pretty difficult compared to lecture examples. Sometimes he doesn't go thru all the examples because he thinks its too easy but its not.
horrible. stay away.
An INCREDIBLY passionate professor who gives the utmost care for his students. If you are in his section, this guy is incredibly thorough, and doesn't shame you for not knowing anything less. While some people prefer Saied because he's funny and is also an amazing prof, Francis is just the goat🐐
Overhyped. His lectures are scattered and he just skips over and jumps from one thing to the next which is why i stopped at a certain point. Yes he is very nice and all but should be more organized and actually teach, it always felt like he was in a rush during the lectures. His notes are useful but i found the other profs notes much more helpful.
My favorite professor at TMU so far as a first year engineering student. He goes over the material slowly so you understand and does great examples. He is always open to answer questions no matter what. It is really hard to find something bad about this professor. Greatest person to ever teach me math!
Pretty nice guy. He always ends classes early which would be great if he didn't skip a lot of things on his slides.
all over the place. skips half the lecture material.
Good guy but is salty about low attendance and made exams hell this year. However his lectures barely touch on some concepts though he's good at explaining when he wants to. Overrated. Maybe he used to be great but looks like he finally crashed out
He's a nice guy but his lectures were all over the place skipping questions and then going back to them. He made the midterm fair but the final exam was super difficult so make sure to read over the slides and don't fall behind
Mr. Duah is not a good professor. After barely finishing Calc 1 with him I was forcefully enrolled into his Calc 2. Wastes a lot of time during his lecture. Skips a lot of important information that is needed to cover. He does not make sure his students fully understand everything. I wouldn't recommend taking him next time!
Didn't like the way he teaches all over the place and uses written slides to teach calculus, very boring class as well.
My glorious sir Francis Duah from France deserves nothing but appreciation from the great first year students as he embraced us with his extraordinary teaching and bestowed upon us a fraction of his higher intellect to save us from Alireza's study halls .
Man if you have duah drop outta the course no matter what MTH it is. Duah just hyped up
HAWK DUAH!
He's a decent prof overall, and is enthusiastic about his job. The one thing I that bothered me was a lack of organization at times.
Professor Duah has made rude remarks toward students in class and never responds to emails students send him. In the past, I have had to send several follow-up emails for him to answer and upon receiving a response from him, my questions were rarely answered.
Always gets mad at students who show up to class because of low class participation.
Solid prof at teaching but never accessible outside of class
He likes his job and cares about your learning, but his teaching method for this course is not good as he talks about the concept without solving many examples and leaves you with an unclear concept to look over the textbook or other prof's notes. He knows how to teach and he is nice, but for this course I do not recommend him because of his method
if you have Professor Duah, drop the class.
scheduled an exam on a holiday
Duah is so bad at teaching that you would think he's doing it on purpose. Makes easy concepts very hard to understand and wastes time during lectures.
Midterm exam was nothing like we had been taught. there was genuinely little I could do to prepare for it.
fair marker but is a difficult person to work/get along with
very unorganized
One of the best math profs at TMU.
I really liked him, I got a 95 on the midterm purely by doing the questions on his slides, literally nothing else. But after the midterm, he went back and forth between slides so much I got so confused and lost, and I really wanted to deny the disorganized claims... Gave free 100's from the quizzes and 'math paper'. Ended class half hour early too!
Lately his ratings have been tanking but overall he's a solid prof, he's the one that makes up the midterm and final. His examinations and questions are extremely fair as long as you practice the questions on his slides and the homework you're Gucci. Sure he's no majed but he exactly isn't a bum either. Overall W prof
Really good prof, also the course material was fairly easy if you put in a little effort. didn't even show up to the classes after the midterm and still finished with an A-
Loved duah. Showing up to lectures, the bare minimum for school should get you through the course ngl. Love duah
Midterm was extremely easy and the final was stupidly similar to textbook/his in class exam review questions.
He is a great professor. Sometimes his lectures are boring but trust me you want to go to his lectures, especially if he is course coordinator. Super fair when it comes to exams since his exams are super easy. Would love to have him as a professor again!
Duah is a great professor. He explains everything very clearly. He does have some issues, as he expects the students to learn some of the material by themselves, and his notes aren't that good, mainly because he doesn't upload all the annotated notes. However, he is a great professor overall.
He is a great professor and really tries his best to explain the concepts. However, the class does move quite slowly, and most of the time we were behind compared to other professors teaching the same course. Overall, he is a good professor as long as you don't get bored easily.
Good prof, but coordinator.
this professor will make you hate calculus. he doesn't teach half the stuff he asks in the exams, and expects u to know everything on your own. also, his exams are genuinely insanely hard.
He teaches very well, and is a great professor overall.
Although he goes slow, and teaches slower than normal, he takes his time to make sure everyone understands the steps and solution to the problem, especially in the later concepts that you don't normally cover in high school, he still takes his time to make sure you understand the concept fully.
Good lecture slides. Didn't really attend the classes and just studied off the slides. Even for the lectures I was at, he taught material pretty well.
Started going to his lectures after midterms and it was peak. He genuinely cares about his students and whether or not you understand the content. Sometimes he goes slow but that's only so everyone understands. He even gave a speech about how it's ok to make mistakes and encourages participation. Holy peak.
Great lectures, he would always make sure that everyone understood the concepts. The course itself is fairly easy too as a lot of it was repeating highschool concepts.
Will end class early sometimes, avoid textbook questions as their too easy and practice questions from slideshows instead.
Makes lectures engaging, one of the better profs at TMU
Awesome prof. His lecture slides are great for self-study, and his lectures are equally great.
Amazing prof, had to start going to him a week before the midterm because I wasn't learning from my other prof. He does a bunch of examples to help learn and you basically get your practice done there. He also gave great practice midterms and finals. Overall amazing prof.
