never uses book in class..tests are difficult, and quiz unaccounced.
The class itself is not all that difficult if you can read the book, and listen to his lectures, and keep the two seperate. He gave tests on the books, and quizes on the lectures. The two never pertained to each other. Auditorium Class.
Class was like nap time at a daycare.
Come to class and go to study sessions and easy sailing. Weighted grading.
Good teacher and keeps good discipline in the classroom. He keeps good tabs on people even though the class has 500+ people in it. He will help you with anything you need.
VERY HELPFULL. GO TO CLASS, TAKE NOTES, READ THE BOOK, AND GO TO THE STUDY SESSIONS. TRUST ME. ITS EASY IF YOU TRY.
Great class. Just make sure you go to it
He knows what he is talking about and does not waste time. It is very interesting subject matter and he teaches well, though it is a lot of information to remember.
he knows his material and is a great professor to have a class with. he makes the class fun to attend and involves the students in it as well. his tests may seem hard for someone who doesn't put in the effort
Want it plain and simple this is an easy A
I hated it! I hated it! Don't take him. He's a moron.
Class was very interesting at times but also had some parts that dragged. got class to participate which was different than normal classes. lectures were off track from the book but if you study the study guide tests are easier. very fair individual
He has very good classroom control. Go to class and be on time. Be ready for pop-quizzes and study for the test. He knows what he is talking about and you can learn alot. If you try you can do very good in here. It is also quite interesting.
I felt that he was horrble teacher. He seems to be a nice guy, but was completely incompatable with my learning style. Unless you can get everything from a book the class. He doesn't lecture on the book and doesn't test on the lectures. Don't take it.
Class size was huge. I had to sit in the cramped balcony because of assigned seating. Tests aren't too bad if you go to the study sessions. If you have good attendance, you'll do alright in here.
just because the guy knows a lot about criminal justice doesn't mean squat if he can't teach it. he is absolutely anal retentive about classroom control, and he walks around the auditorium asking people questions like he's donahue. boring!
On the exams, it is completely self-taught, not a question on there is what he lectures about. Prepare to STUDY, but some topics are interesting.
One of the nicest Professors. Knows his stuff and has been asked by law enforcement on his opinion. Beware the tests. YOU MUST READ THROUGH ALL OF THE CHAPTERS. You never know when you get a random question. Although, the curve is exceptional. DO EC!
He doesn't go over anything, going to class is pretty much a waste of time except for the pop quizzes.
If you want an easy C then take this class....The test and pop quizes are curved more then you would think...no work=easy C
He is a funny man let me tell you and the class even though you dont go over materials on the tests it is still very interesting and fun to attend.
Great Class! Going to class is not necessary but there are pop-quizzes and the lecture is very intersting anyways. For being such a large class he gets alot of people involved and I like his classroom control. Tests are on text only, which is not covered.
If you want to go to a class with someone completely self-absorbed, take CJS 111. Anytime we had a speaker, the speaker couldn't go 5 minutes without Schreiber saying something. If you're going to have speakers for us, let them talk more than you!
Quizzes and tests are very steeply curved. Put in some time studying and it's an easy A or B.
He really likes to wear vests!! Mmmmm...hot stuff...yowza.
Not once did he cover ANY of the material we were tested on in class. That is not an exaggeration. Going to class is a huge waste of time, yet he still grades on attendance for some reason.
Amazing person, great teacher. realises that college has alot more going on for students, so he has a curve, makes it easy for all to make it. his lectures are great, he uses these for QUIZZES ONLY, and the text book for EXAMS ONLY. Great eye opener!!!!!!
BORING
Great teacher. Only wants the student to do well and is willing to help you accomplish that. Respects your opinions.
With a class of 750+ students, the guy makes it look easy to juggle than many students. Very well spoken, made me want to go into CJ major.Tells it like it is...
The guy loves the sound of his own voice. He is the most long-winded person I've ever met. Never once does he discuss the chapter material yet that is the ONLY thing we are tested on.
I have never taken such a boring class in my life. All he does is lecture about stuff you will never see on a test, but yet you have to go to class bc he always gives pop quizes. If you want to be way bored take this class.
Most boring class i've ever had. Some days were interesting, but never was there anything discussed needed for the test. Questions are so random and so detailed, you'd have to read the chapters 3 or 4 times to almost do well.
I don't even know how anyone can give this guy good reviews! If you want to be bored or treated like a stupid incompetent child then CJS 111 is just for you. I didn't learn a THING!!! Waste of time! Save yourself and don't take this class!
Anyone who says this class isn't easy didn't bother to take the time to get the Review sheet which had EVERY THING you needed to know for the test on it. I got an A on every test just by using the review sheet. A+
What can I say, any "REAL" professor who stands on auditorium chairs and grabs and shakes their genitals to prove a point needs to evaluate their before and considered for release of this position. Test material is NOT covered in class.
He clearly enjoys what he is teaching. He was always telling us that we are the best and the brightest of our peers. On syllabus it says that he does not allow make-up tests(on textbook)or quizes(lecture),buthe letme make them up.Take this class from him
This professor (if you can call him that) thinks that he is gods gift to SCSU and anyone who comes into contact with him. His GA's do all the work anyway. All he does is come to class and talk about powerpoint slides that he probally didn't even type.
A good prof who loves his job. Tests are difficult, but graded on a curve. Tests are from textbook and notes from class are for the quizes. He made me want to change to a cj major. I would take another class from him.
um...interesting teacher. Has speakers come to class but consistently interupts them while they are talking cause i guess what he has to say is more important. Readings are long and he never talks about them. tests and quizes are curved =)
This prof is so full of himself. Any prof who is going to stand on a stage, under a spotlight, and read parts of a book to the class has got issues. If he would let his guest speakers actually talk without interrupting them all the time, you may actually learn something. Boring class.
Most worthless class ever! Unfortunately I had to take it to cover a requirement. I wish I hadn't. Exam material not covered until the tests are already completed
The class is boring. All we do is watch movies, however some of them are interesting. The class is difficult because all the test info. is in the books. You have to read to get through the class.
If you want to study your butt off take this class. You must attend every lecture or face the facts that you might miss a 20 pt quiz. He does not teach the stuff on the test. You read it outside of class and you have to study or you won't get anywhere. The study guide he gives you help to an extent.
Nap time. Must go to class, but lecture material is never covered on the tests. Loves to interrupt speakers. Tests are impossible, but graded on an insane curve.
Boring class lectures that barely keep you awake. Difficult tests, considering he doesn't cover ANY of the exam material in class. Plus the exams cover huge amounts of material and he doesn't even HINT at what is important from the chapters or what's going to be on the exams.
Class is easy but lectures are too! no material is covered during class...CURVES hardcore...show up study little guaranteed atleast a C...then curves the grades again at the end of the sem..NO HOMEWORK just 5 easy tests! Great guy and Great teacher!
I would only recommend taking this class if you are majoring in this field. He is so boring and doesn't cover any of the material on the test. AVOID this class if you can.
Barry is a funny guy but class is super boring. Quizzes are on his lectures and his exams are straight out of the book. If you use his study guide and listen in class, you should do alright.
Barry sucks. He trys to be funny but his attempts manage to fall short of even smirkable. He basically forces you to go to class because of his "pop" quizzes and attendance but like everyone else said the exams are out of the book. If you take this class study the hell out of the court cases.
Really egotistical, always interrupts his guest speakers. You've got to go to class because lectures are covered on the quizzes- but the tests are all from the book, and graded on an insane curve, so if you've got a decent grasp on the info you'll do fine. Don't take it early, you'll fall asleep :)
It is one of the most boring classes I have ever taken. It wouldn't be so bad, if he actually went over the material in class instead of pointless facts. He also loves to interrupt all of the guest speakers. You have to show up for surprise quizes and for bonus attendence points.
He is one of the nicest professors, and hes really funny, class is sometimes interesting. Tests are hard but if you read your fine.
Barry's class is a waste of time, the only reason to go to class is to make sure there isnt a pop quiz. His test are probably the hardest thing I have ever taken, and the worst part is we dont go over any of it in class.
Prof. Schreiber is senile and thinks he is funny...but really he's a dolt. He always interrupts guest speakers with ridiculous personal stories and thinks hes "connecting" with the student body when he shoves a mic in your face. The tests are ridiculous...quizzes a bit easier-Conclusion: WASTE OF $
Barry is a great guy. He's really passionate about CJ but not about talking about what's on the test.I would recommend this class to anyone majoring in CJ, but not to slackers~class attendance is a must. Read all the Chapters, study, and go to class~~you'll get at least a C.
This class should only be taken if you are going to major in cjs. It is like taking 2 classes at once; tests are on the book, quizzes are on class time. Plus, all i learned was to memorize numbers. Statistics, dates, and other numbers are a huge part of his tests. Class is too much like a talk show!
Waste of time an $. Not related alot to CJS. Going to be a cop but this gave me the required credits but nothing else. Tests are from the book and he doesn't lecture on it. Quizzes are from class = only reason to show up. Auditorium class with attendance too. He likes to film while testing
Large lecture class. He never talks about what is on the test and you only need to go on the test days. Fairly easy. I got a C and didn't attend 3/4 of the classes.
Probably not a class to take unless you are a CJS major. He tries to make class fun but dont go tired or youll fall asleep. READ THE BOOK. The tests are hard if you dont know the facts. Make sure you know all the cases and dates, etc. Otherwise the class is ok, Barry is passionate about CJ and fun.
Class was very interesting. Covered many topics and brought in good speakers and had good material. Tests were very hard but he grades easy on them.
Great professor. He dosen't lecture on the test material so make sure you read the book. Test are hard, but he grades them easy. I got a 40 out of 60 and got an A on the test. Go to class and you will be fine. He is a great dresser so go to class to see his outfits. Their funny.
This class sucked. He never covers any of the material, just rambles on about whatever he feels like. The tests are hard since he never goes over anything.
I loved this class. I got an easy A. Yeah he rambles a little, but as long as you pay attention to the lectures you're fine. If you listen well, he gives you answers to quiz questions in the lecture, then gives you a quiz. Nice guy, and cool dresser.
This class was very interesting, and he does some cool stuff. Do NOT skip, he will fail you. Likes to pass his students off to TA's. Not one of the better CJS teachers.
He is the worst professor ever! Do not take this class you will fall asleep everyday. You think you get a break when you watch videos, NO. He feels the need to explain what we just saw like we don't understand anything! I also feel bad for the speakers because he interupts them every 5 seconds.
If your lazy you will fail. Make sure you read the book and go to class. I thought this class was a very good class but if you are not interested in criminal justice don't take it. It's an easy class but a lot of work the book is thick. Never fell asleep in class I thought that he was very funny. READ THE BOOK. Know all of the cases.
He adds things for students to do that are not identified on the syllabus. Very critical about writing skills!!

He will fail you if you do not pay attention! This man is a stickler for details and gives some of the hardest 100-level tests I have ever seen...multiple choice, but difficult! Read the books he assigns and do your best to keep from falling asleep (he's a little slow to follow in class) because he tests on the class materials as well. Overall, he's got good connections and it's best to get on his good side because he really does know some people out there!
He knows what he is talking about, but he rarely covers any of the test materials in class. Has very good connections such as acclaimed authors and FBI recruiters.
Let me say he is one of the best professors I have had. He is very interesting and knows his stuff. We have interesting guest speakers and videos which make the class interesting and the time goes by fast! In order to do well on the tests, you have the read the chapters. And, in order to do well on the quizes you should attend class. Great Prof!
He likes to make a lot of jokes and he's a pretty funny guy. He doesn't go over anything that's on the tests and you have to make sure you read the chapters. His tests are really hard but he grades them on a really good curve. Basically you have to teach yourself but he's got lots of connections and he makes his lecture material interesting.
Very good professor! He makes class very interesting, although he doesn't go over any of the material that will be on tests, so you HAVE to read if you want to pass! If you at least try you should get a decent grade, he grades on a very good curve! He also gives many chances for extra credit! Have an open mind and I think you'll enjoy the class!
His tests are really hard and if you don't read you are screwed. He asks weird questions in them about sats. and cases. He pays way to much attention to details rather than the man information itself. I thought the class was interesting but boring as well. If you take him, you should be ready to work for an A. Don't take this class if you are lazy.
Good Guy...will talk your ear off if you see him outside of class. Tests suck but it's nothing you can't deal with. No papers or anything like that...just tests to focus on. Good Class I recommend it.
I took this class online and it was very hard. It consisted of reading the full text plus a book and a written report. It wouldnt have been bad if he would have answered my e-mails and phone calls when I had questios but I never got a response back from him. Tests are very hard.
Tests were hard, but overall the class was great. Good lectures that pretain to today, Read the book and go to class and you'll do fine.
This class is very interesting and you'll learn a lot. Unlike what everyone says tests aren't that hard because there is a study guide you pick up that tells you EXACTLY what to know!!!
Pretty easy class. His tests are hard, but huge curve. Lecture is ok, but gets long. Nice prof. and enjoys it when you stop by just to talk.
He is a good prof and has interesting lectures. The only problem is his lectures don't coincide with his unit tests-your on your own to learn that material. Be ready for pop quizes on material covered in his lectures. Unit test are hard, but they are on a serious curve! CJS 111 worth taking for elective/MGM course.
Impossible to get a hold of, doesnt answer phone calls or emails -
He teaches alot of stuff in class that doent matter and basically your on your own for everything else you better like reading and paying attention to little details like stats and how many black men are in jail and random stuff. His tests are really hard and pointless. If your taking this class its like a 400 level so be prepared to work for an A
he good
Well like a lot of people are saying, it's a lot of stats and court case's and other pointless stuff. I'm a CJS major and I still found it hard to know all these dumb little facts. Tests are all MC so no papers ( thats always good ) And everthing happeds on tuesday's!!!!! so if you miss a thurs you will not a miss test or quizies!!! He is a nice guy though...
This was the only MGM class I didn't cringe from. I thought I was going to get a poor grade during the semester, but it turns out he curves on a massive scale. I received an A, but you have to complete the study guide and use it along with the book, and do not worry if you don't think you are going to do well.
Class lectures get really boring; you may find yourself falling asleep often. Tests are ridiculously hard, and you're on your own for knowing the material. THANKFULLY he grades on a curve so a 30 out of 60 is a B on tests usually. All in all, not a bad class. You'll learn a lot.
Anyone who says anything negative about this professor obviously never took the time to get to know him, or is a lazy/sluff-off type student. This man REALLY cares about his students! He took the time to listen to me and really helped me with my test anxiety. In fact, I credit him with the fact that I now can take tests with little or no anxiety
Online-- I met with Dr. Schreiber 2 times to go over syllabus questions because I took the class on-line. He still remembers my name (after 2 years) when I see him walking around campus. He is incredibly helpful, interesting, and very, very fair.
Schreiber is a dork. That being said he gives pretty good lectures, except you'll start getting bored by the end of the semester. Tests are straight form the book, quizzes from lectures. His lectures are pretty messed up. He comes dressed up for Halloween. It looks as though his grandmother knitted his whole wardrobe for him. Very memorable..
AWESOME TEACHER!!! He knows what he is talking about and will answer any questions you have, gives really interesting lectures, the test are hard but if you read the chapters you're fine...overall GREAT class!
great professor, his lectures are very interesting and funny. you get bonus points for attending class, all quiz questions are based on lectures and tests are based on the textbook. if you use the study guide before exams you will be fine. the hardest part of the exams are the remembering all the statistics. Not an 'easy A' class, you need to work.
slow to get information. maybe should retire.
Great Professor! Very Interesting lectures. Never a dull moment. Take this course! Go to class, do readings and you will do fine.
This was a tough class and I knew that going into it. However, I gave it a concentrated effort and learned a considerable amount. Schreiber knows his stuff, but be prepared to pay attention, study, and take detailed class notes. If you're not serious about his class you won't do well.
If you take this class do NOT take it online. The tests were more about statistics than the actual point of the chapters. Grades are curved however half the class still failed almost all of the tests.
This teacher is a wonderful man who wants everyone to do well. He expects a lot out of students because he doesn't want our education and degree to be a joke...there is a reason SCSU has such a great CJ program, and it means you can't just walk through it. WARNING: Tests are VERY hard...if you want an A, study like your life depends on it.
Decent Teacher, Tests are a joke, its all statistics and "who wrote this" type questions. he doesnt even go over criminal justice related things in class, its a boring lecture class.
Frustrating class to sit through. Never stayed on one topic long enough to explain it well. Loves to hear himself talk. Impossible to get ahold of...never returned emails, phone calls. Do not take a class from him online if you expect any feedback from him. Tests were a joke.
Has strict structure to class that would be hard to do without his TAs. Quizzes are on class notes; tests are on book chapters. Easy to understand. Material was interesting. Had annoying habit of interrupting speakers and videos.
cool guy, easy to talk to.
If you're looking for a professor to do absolutely nothing for you then you have found the right one! He is completely useless. Test questions are usually the small writing in the textbooks as he completely disregards the main concepts of the text. I have nothing good to say of this prof, defiantly avoid him! How does he still have a job?
This class was a complete waste of time. His lectures felt more like a paster giving a sermon than an actual lecture. His test questions are just stupid I mean who asks a test question about who the author of the text book cited while talking about a particular subject. My advice AVOID this class if you are looking for a GOOD criminal justice class
He doesn't spend a second of lecture taking about anything remotely related to the test material. He talks about lynchings and beatings of black people the entire semester, none of which is on quizzes or tests. Won't return calls or emails. You work for your grade with no help from Dr. Schreiber.
Worst Professor that I have ever come in contact with. Won't listen to students. Lectures about topics that have no use to criminal justice. Won't lecture or even talk about anything that will be on his tests. Horrible professor. Not to mention him changing his mind on curving tests. No clue why he still has a job.
Useless. Never keeps his word. Is still a prof for the sole purpose of collecting a paycheck. Is a waste of students hard-earned money. You learn first hand the true defintion of a terrible professor. If there is so many bad ratings, we should honestly start an appeal and get this guy fired or at least get his worked reviewed. Anyone else support?
I disagree with other comments. I enjoyed coming to this class. Lectures weren't based on the book no, but they were interesting. We had a few speakers too...some were interesting, some not at all. Last guy you will like lots though. Also watched a few movies. Material lactured in class or movies is information you can expect to see on a quiz.
Quiz's are 20 points, multiple choice, and hard. There are a few tests too, 60 points, they are also hard. This might seem like you will fail the class, but her is generous and curves them so you get a decent grade. You also have to read lyniching in Duluth, read the book and quiz points are easy. You can read another book for more extra-credit pnts
Tasts are also multiple choice. Attendance is taken every so often by TA's, these will be extra-credit points...2 points on last day of class. Read the textbook (will take hours), 3 chapters per test, test on details from book so read, re-read, and highlight. I got an A in the class without studying as much as I should have, and I failed the quiz's
i really thought that the class was interesting... we watched alot of really helpfull videos that were related to the subject as well as interesting. if you have the choice i would take him.
Horrible Professor. Can't ever stay on topic. Class is pretty much useless. Doesn't lecture on criminal justice just about his interests. Wont return phone calls or emails. Relies heavily on TAs. Never worked in the field. Is simply an academic.
It's incredibly pointless to go to class. He talks off topic all the time and what's talked about in class is on the quizzes, nothing related to the tests. Thoroughly read and take notes on the chapters for the test. Class isn't too hard, good 100 level class. Entertaining occasionally.
I found this class extremely interesting. Quizzes are simple if you attend class. Tests are purely book, you have to read, which can get dry. I emailed him about criminal justice as a major, his TAs are helpful, and he personally took time to meet with me and treated me as an adult, not a student. Very nice and smart guy!
The class itself was really interesting and enjoyable. ne thing thats good to know is that the inforation he talks about in class is alost never in the text book you much READ THE TEXTBOOK as well as listen in class. He drops your lowest test and quiz score which is very nice and you can get bonus points if you never miss a class period.
Overall this he is a great professor. The lectures can get quite boring. The tests are based from the book and the quizzes from based on lecture I encourage studying well for the tests they are hard overall 5 tests, 5 quizzes from lecture, and 1 quiz from a seperate book which was real interesting Also, you sometimes get bonus points for attendance
Very hard to pay attention in class. Lectures can get very boring. Class is based out of book. Makes you wanna change your major...
His class was very interesting, and always had lots to talk about. He gives you the study guide for the test, and as long as you have read the chapters you will get an a on the test. He curves the crap out of them. Overall would take again.
This class is very very interesting. The tests are quite hard.. but there are only 5 of them, and 5 quizzes. Schreiber curves the grades LOTS though, which helps. The whole class is lecture and videos and stories, so you teach the chapters to yourself. Very interesting though! Schreiber is such a nice guy!
I took the online class. Pretty laid back. 5 exams, 6 hw opinions very easy. He curves the exams so much that it's hard not to get below a B. 2 papers very easy only a few pgs each. NEVER answers e-mails.. very interesting class though. I learned a lot. And just follow study guide powerpoints and study pre-exam. Thats all you need.
5 tests, 5 quizzes, 1 quiz on a book you need to read, and they are all VERY DIFFICULT. Everything is curved though so don't feel too bad if you get 50% on something. Very eccentric, really cares about his work, funny guy, makes class interesting. Also gives extra credit opportunities. Attendance is mandatory and you get points for it. Good class.
the mandatory attendance can get very frustrating since all of the exams are based off the book (which he DOESN'T lecture about) and instead you're sitting here listening to basically the same things everyday. and make sure you get the lynching book early because there's a quiz RIGHT away
Very personable guy! makes class interesting and fun; his good public speaking skills also contribute to that. Not gonna lie, this class is tough if you don't pay attention and keep up on your portion of the work. Do the work, and you will excel in his course.
Fantastic teacher, very passionate about what he teaches. Pay attention and dont skip class, his lectures are very very very interesting and engaging.
He is a great teacher! Super funny, easy going. No doubt the tests are hard. But its school you have to read! Just show up to class and read the book! Easy as that. *Lectures have nothing to do with tests. Copy everything off study guide and you should do good on tests. He also grades on a curve.
By far the greatest professor I have ever had! He make class very interesting but still stresses what he is teaching. His tests are really hard and have nothing to do with his lectures. Everything in the book is in the test and you actually need to read the book.
The Best professor that I have ever had im my college career!
He is very nice. His lectures have little to nothing to do with the text, but are still interesting. He curves the tests and quizzes a LOT, so don't worry about a low percentage. His quizzes are on the lectures only. Nice guy, and I would recommend taking him.
Very nice and helpful but exams are extremely hard
Worst "professor" there is. Does not have an interest in his students, no communication, no feedback. Uses old lectures and material that were recorded years ago. Tests are all total recall, short answer essay. You will leave this class feeling ripped off. Do not take this class if he is the instructor.
This class requires a lot of reading. The tests are very difficult even with the study guide provided. It is a lot of information to remember. That being said this class has quite a curve. 329/506 points is an A and I thought the papers and discussions were quite easy. He is a good professor and is available to help his students when needed.
This was back in 1981 and i really enjoyed this guys class. He cares about students and has the willingness to help if u need it. Great guy .
Dr.Schreiber is a really nice guy, but can be hard to contact because he is a very busy man. Exams were hard, but he curves them a lot. Must use book and study almost every single detail. Attendance is not mandatory but on certain days he will give participation points to those who were there. Overall, very nice guy i would recommend.
He's a good professor with interesting lectures but all the quizzes are on what is taught in class and the exams are on the textbook. He doesn't teach anything in the exams so you have to be able to teach yourself and make sure you read the textbook chapters or you will fail.
He's a great professor with a great sense of humor. The lectures can range anywhere from boring to exciting. You need to show up cause he sometime will have random pop quizzes and on certain days he give you an extra credit point for attendance. Quizzes are over what you learned in class, You need to STUDY for exams, study every detail from the book
The only good thing is that be grades on a curve or you would die.
He lectures, but his lectures are not on the exams. He lectures are only for the quizzes. You have the read the textbook yourself on your own time for the exams. It is an interesting class if you are thinking about anything law. You do have to work for a grade, but that is what gets you in to it. I would take it again in a heart-beat!
Very tough class. Most work is independent and it is very hard to know what you are suppose to be doing due to the professor not clarifying well. Also Dr. Schreiber is quite difficult to get a hold of and does not get back to you "in 3 business days" such as his syllabus suggests. Curves grades, but what does grading student low make them think??
5 exams, 5 pop quizzes, no final. He curves all the grades and drops your lowest quiz and exam.
Dr. Schreiber is a very good professor. He makes lecture interesting even when the subject matter is boring. The class is very difficult and requires a lot of studying. I think he does it to weed out the people who truly want to go into criminal justice. He does give extra credit for attendance and some optional assignments to make up for the work.
Dr. Schreiber is a nice guy and class is pretty interesting. Exams and quizzes are tough! Tests are completely based on the chapters in the book so make sure you get the book and do the readings. Do the readings, do the study guide and the online practice quizzes from the book and you can do well! Grades are curved and there EC available!
Dr. Schreiber is a great professor that is always willing to help. He offers many extra credit opportunities and curves all tests very generously (34/60 was an A on one test). Reading is pertinent to passing this class. Be ready to read in fine detail because his tests can be very specific.
Barry is connected to the real world so you know he doesn't just spew bs. His Lectures are amazing and he knows what he is talking about. Read the book or you wont pass, each exam is only based on the book and he grades on a very lenient curve. His pop quizzes are based on lectures and guest speaker. Show up, read the book and you will pass.
Class is super boring. 5 tests, 5 quizzes, no final. Drops lowest scores on quiz/test. Tests are easy if you work for them. Quizzes are only easy if you take thorough notes in class. You must pay attention to the smallest details to do well. The curves are amazing tho.
Lectures are very interesting and he seems very knowledgeable and caring about what he teaches. He's been teaching this class for around 30 years so a lot of the information is outdated. He gives 5 pop quizzes, 5 tests, and extra credit to go with it. He drops one quiz and test with the lowest score and gives amazing curves. Barely any homework.
5 tests which are based on the chapters in the book (you must read them thoroughly to do good on the tests) and 5 pop quizzes. The lowest scores of each is dropped. Class is interesting sometimes. Lots of extra credit opportunities and he grades on an amazing curve (34/60 was an A on one test). Overall a great guy that cares about his students!
I seemed to have been the only one, but I never read the textbook once and got an A in the class (tests are very textbook based). To me the class was pretty easy, Schreiber was a great professor and really cared about teaching and helping students. I cant speak for the difficulty as I seemed to be the only that didnt find it too bad.
Best teacher I had so far at this school. If you read the book and go to class, You will do fine. Funny guy, also most interesting class I took. Interesting books and just a cool guy. Thankful for grading curve and did ok on tests and still had a good grade. Lots of extra credit opportunities as well.
He is a great professor, makes lectures fun. I loved this class I found it interesting. Be ready to read a lot in order to do good on exams. Never skip lecture or you won't do good on quizzes or exams. otherwise no homework
