She is a well like professor. Enjoys helping students at all times even between classes. She took the time to explain the subject. Also assigns work without notice when there is a lack of attendance for extra credit.
Dr. Beer is a very good teacher. She knows her finance very very good. Her class is a lot of work but the test are easy. The only thing that someone should worry about is the research project and presentation. If you mess up the presentation you will receive a bad grade for the class. The presentation and research project is paramount.
This woman is hot. She knows the subject very well and is a wonderful professor. Exams are moderate, but studying helps a lot.
If I had the oppertunity to take her again I would. I enjoyed her class. She was a good teacher.
I took Dr. Beer during the first summer session in 05'. I really enojoyed her class, she offered a great curve and no homework was assigned!! She offered extra credit. I would completely recommend her to anyone looking to take finance courses.

best finance teacher
Good knowledge but a little scattered and unprepared for lectures. Very helpful outside of class though.
She's "all right." Cancelled class about 4 times, so we got behind. Very confusing, scattered lectures. Doesn't really work probs. in class. Doesn't answer questions well. Writes her own tests, so they don't make a lot of sense and aren't like the problems in the book. Curves & gives extra cred. 3 tests is all--no hw. Didn't learn much.
She is a very good teacher when she is in a good mood. If she is having a bad day than the whole class suffers. Her grading is somewhat unfair (on take home exams) and her tests aren't always based off the lecture. Make sure to read the chapter. She also misses class more than most professors. If you can, take another professor.

She can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Get on her good side by visiting her office hours and asking good questions in class and you'll have a great time. Fail to listen to her instructions (especially about tests) and prepare to be ****ed out...repeatedly. She is moody but what woman isnt? Recommended for non-finance majors.

Nice lady but a terrible teacher.
Terrible teacher!
She missed alot of class. It caused the class to be behind by weeks. She let us go early alot when she could have made up uncovered material. So we didn't cover the material we needed to and then she tested us on it anyways.Hint:The first exam is made up more of conceptual questions then problems.Only good point is hw wasn't collected.
unclear, noreview, no study guide, very stressful for this class, don't take this class
Try to avoid taking her. She has her TA's grade work and then doesn't know why you earned the grade you did and mistakes are made in calculating your grades. She brings her bad moods with her to class! She is rude to students and puts them down in front of the whole class. Beware...this class has a presentation and she will rip you to pieces!
this class was horrible, she is rude, unclear, unprofessional, late, misses classes, always seems in an irratable mood. Ego problem, tried to put down students.

If I had the opportunity to take her again I would and may for her graduate classes. Enjoyed her class, she offered a great curve and homework assigned was related to the course topics! The presentation and research project is critical. If you mess up the presentation, you will receive a bad grade for the class, so plan, ask questions and be prepar
She is an amazing teacher, can make you like the subject even if it`s not your favorite at all! She is competent and expect it from her students too so, be prepared and participate!
I loved her class.. It was fun and we all learned a lot.. she does make the students work hard but she is friendly and encouraging and is always welcoming. She is ever-ready to help students with all the doubts with an infectious enthusiasm and passion. I liked her class a lot and I would love to take more classes with her. It was a great learning
the one think I hated about Beer was that she never put her students first. When I was taking her, she missed alot of days. Perhaps her side business was more important! Never got the class interested in the material. Just repeated the words on the powerpoint slides. Very dull and boring. Take her only because her dullness and lack of commit
She's a good teacher and makes the class enjoyable. She often finds ways to give extra credit to students who come to class. Overall easy and good class.
Food puts her in a good mood, but not even that will save you from monotonaus powerpoints.
I was deathly afraid to take her because of what I'd heard. However, I was pleasantly surprised that her teaching style was exactly what I needed. Everything was put it layman's terms and was taught according to real-life situations. I would take her again any day!
She's rude and unprofessional. She expects everyone to respect her, but shows no respect for others. She's ALWAYS late for class. If her students walk out of class to use the bathroom, she gets upset. Her tests are extremely hard. She doesn't allow notes on the exam. Instead, she gives you a sheet of equations that don't make sense. Don't take her.
She shows no respect to students. She is rude and lectures straight from the powerpoints. She assigns homework but if you want to go over it you have to go to her office hours. When it comes to the test she even admitted that she does not write them. What she says in class and what you are tested on are two different things.
Missed 25% of the 10 weeks. Short temper. If you learned your 313 & 314 stuff, you should be ok on her exams, IF YOU LEARNED! Come to class, turn in every hw, you cant afford to miss hw pts. You better know what youre talking about on your presentation or you will do terrible. I got an A. You just really need to know your stuff
Belittles students in front of everyone. If you want to feel like crap, she will make you feel worse than crap. When you take her class, I suggest you find a tutor that has taken her in the past. Her test are far from what she covers in class. Focus on every detail because you have no idea what's going to be on the test.
Very good professor, a lot of materials from outside the book, make the class very interesting.
She is very good teacher, very helpful, you will learn a lot in her class. Take her
I think she's a good teacher! If you work hard and study you will have no trouble! She treats you like an adult instead of a kid in elementary school! You leave each lecture with new knowledge! I learned more from her than any other finance class! She is nice when people are respectful and on top of their work! She's wonderful!
I thought her class was very good. I had fun and learned a lot from this teacher. I am alos a PA major and still found this class not as hard as others I have taken at this school. She is a very good teacher and I would take her class again.
Exams are really hard because they are nothing like homework or class work, plain and simple they are tricky. Do your articles and homework, and your grade will be fine.
Her class was dissappointing... You must do your homework, the unfortunate thing is she does not always collect it. Tests are hard and tricky... espicially the final
Dr. Beer is in my top 3 of all time favorite professors. This class was a lot of work. A word of advice: do as many practice problems as you can! My biggest regret is not doing better. From what i saw, she really cares about her students and will go out of her way to help them find internships.I found myself more interested in finance than I ever
I'm a straight A student and got a C in her class. Homework took about 15 hours a week if you really did it, most people just cheat because they have lives other than this one class. Tests are NOTHING like the homework. She's unorganized and the worst teacher I've ever had in my life. Take anyone else!
She is very rude to her students. First professor ever in my lifetime that does not like questions to be asked in class, because it disrupts class time, and must be asked after class. She hands out papers during test time!! Her test are hard, and unfair. She has an attitude also. Id avoid her.
Half the exams are based on random vocab buried deep within the text. She doesn't even say what exactly to study. I'd get all calculations correct, but get most vocab wrong. My FIN313 prof (Dong Man Kim) told us EXACTLY what's on the exams. I got an A in his class. I only got a B from Beer because of random extra pts. Without it, I'd have a C or D.
homework a must even though she does not collect most of the time. WJS pain in the butt. Exam are hard unlike homework.
She is the best She makes the subject very interesting and they way of her teaching is great it really helps to understand and she always answeres e-mails. i highly recomend her!!!!
Dr. Beer is a Awesome instructor that always presents a most Professional style to students and faculty. Her appearance is extremely hot with a french accent that keeps you interested. I wish I had the time to take additional classes from her.
Be ready to work! don't take this class if you cant attend REGULARLY. Do practice, hw, and end of chap probs & you should be ok. She is intimidating in class, but pretty cool outside of it. She expects you to put in a lot of effort. wsj presentations are a pain so make sure you do more than just summarize. Do research on it. good luck.
I believe she is a great teacher. Follow her instructions and you will do great. She is easy to talk to and is always willing to help. Her tests are a little difficult but if you put the time to studying you will do fine. I would recommend her if you really want to learn.
my friend and i are A student, yet got C on her class. we do all hw AND study, but lots exam-definition questions come from no where. the midterm is such a joke- she first gave everyone 15 extra points, then found out graded wrong, corrected&gave 10 extra points.I barely learned anything, early off every day+no lecture for last2W+furlough.EDUCATION?
Be prepared to print out a powerpoint every class in case she calls on you. The powerpoint has to be from a recent wsj article pertaining to the last class. She goes off topic a lot and you need to know how to teach yourself. She wasn't hard but she didn't teach very much. No review for midterm or final, 20+ page project is graded in minutes.
I am dying in this class :( , she expects us to consume 3 chapters in 1 day just because were behind 2 days....(1 furlough and 1 holiday) ....I am sure alot people in the class are in the same boat. Its really hard to consume that much, I am an A student an i am having difficult consuming everything she trowing at us at the end of the session
Dr. Beer is respected and feared by her students. She gives very clear instructions on the subject. Understanding the course syllabus and regular attendance are the key for success in her class. Do your part and she ill go out of her way to make sure you succeed. You Rock Dr.
She is really hard. She has her powerpoint updated from publisher.
She was all over the place during the summer, cut down almost half of the metrical. I took her once before but still learned nothing from her. she makes fun of students-really rude. if you want to learn take Kim;if you have no other choice then stick to her class notes/practice/homework and study on your own-that will get you at least a B.Good luck
Her ppt are updated every qtr and she uses a lot of examples from the Wall Street Journal. She is the most published prof in the Fin dept at Cal state. She does not spoon feed the material. You have to study (like in a REAL Graduate school)otherwise you won't do well. In my opinion, if you want to really learn finance, take her...She's Great!!
This woman is a clown. Everything in her lectures comes directly from the textbook, which means that she has no real-world experience. Most of the finance teachers have no real-world experience, except for Prof Estes. They only have their useless PhD. They have no certifications (CFA, CFP, ...). Poor faculty!!!!
Dr. Beer's class is definitely not easy but I learned so much. Attendance is a must if you want to succeed in her class. I would also recommend to do all the homework and practices. She is always willing to help her students to succeed. It saddens me when I see bad reviews about Dr.Beer because it is often unjustified.Work hard and you'll be fine !
She is smart, and probably the most productive professor in the Finance Department in CalState. She is very keen in her profession and her only passion is the advancement of her students. Her class was awesome since she bring the current topics in the market into the class, and the most important thing was she always willing to help.
Dr. Beer Is a wonderful professor. She makes the finance interesting by bring real world experience into the classroom and encourages us as students to think rather then rely entirely on her. She always makes time to answer our questions and she has a thorough understanding of the material. I reommend her to anyonw truly looking to learn finance.
She is an awesome professor. Dont get me wrong this isnt an "easy" class but its really worth the effort because you learn so much. Shes also really approachable if you need any help.
Very tough class, do not take this professor unless you are ready to actually learn Finance and the concepts of how they are used in real life experiences. Midterm & tests are most of grade and midterm was nothing that was taught on. Be prepared to know all material, even what wasn't covered in class material.
Really Smart lady, glad I took her. She does a excellent job in teaching Finance. she NOT easy but you learn big time alot.CSUSB should have her teaching all the 400's Finance courses or at least teach Fin. 435 once a year..she got the skills to teach finance not like other bad professors that have a speech written down for every chapter.
Good teacher, relies on the book a lot. Also, if you're going to be late, just don't show up, it makes her angry when people disrupt class by coming in late.
Good teacher. The class is hard, grant it but she really wants the students to suceed. Read book and go to class.
Dr. Beer rocks! The class was hard, but she really knows her stuff and made everything a lot clearer. I wish I could have taken her for 314, but my schedule didn't allow it.
This professor is really demanding ut she is really explaining the materials well. She is also very hot.
The class is really hard. The professor is very strict and really demanding. The syllabus is great. The textbook is readeable.
very helpful in class and after class. can find everything in textbook. know how to push students to succeed.
Chaired my thesis committee. Wouldn't have made it without her. Very helpful, insightful, knowledgeable, available for consultation.
First of all, let me state this if you are seeking to gain knowledge and to understand the finance theory and practice, Dr. Beer would be the best professor to do that and I think it's an opportunity for us as Finance major students that we have Dr. beer at CSUSB. She is really smart lady, professional, and excellent at what she does. A+++++++++++
She is the best . I learned a lot from her and she has the perfect way to teach the student. I've took many Finance classes before but I did not really understand the Finance. Dr Beer made everything clear. she is the best
No complaints,She knows her finance material & she does an excellent job on passing that knowledge to her students. She not easy but then why are you in college if you dont want to learn? She a professor that cares about her students,& just wants you to succeed in the real world of finance.Keep teaching Prof. Beer....you got the skills! Will miss u
knowledgeable professor, her powerpoint slides are on the blackboard, she explains everything clearly and she make sure that everyone understand the material.
Professor knows her material very well. As it was mentioned in previous comments her class is not easy but then again, why are you in college if you're not willing to put the effort. You will have a deeper understanding of finance after you take her course, best teacher ever!!!
Homeworks that were assigned were clearly pulled off online and was nearly impossible to complete without looking on google to find the answers. Solutions that she posted always had mistakes. Tests were not straight forward and were confusing.
worst teacher ever!!!! embarasses you if you ask questions in class. very unapproachable. difficult to unerstand at times becaue of her french accent. i would NOT recommend taking her. I basically read the book and did the homework on my own to understand the context...she was of no use.
She's very passionate about the subject & knows a lot. Really nice and helpful in office hours.
Shes definitely has the knowledge. She is Hilarious and caring.
She is the best professor I have been taking class with. She has amazing lectures.
Dr. Beer is very much helpful even after class. She will help you during her office hours and shes very professional.
You will not regret taking class with her. She is very professional and accessible outside of class.
Awesome!!!!
Took her summer online class. There were weekly homework assignments from McGraw, a midterm, final, and group paper and presentation. She's very experienced and teaches very well. Taking her again for sure!
Take her! Dr. Beer is very friendly and helpful. She is extremely knowledgeable in her field. You can ask her and everything. Her class was easy as you as you show up to the meeting and watch her videos. Tests were not hard. 1 paper, 1 group project (easy), 2 exams, homeworks, and quizzes. It may sound a lot but they were really easy. D
A very rude professor. NEVER ask her a question cause she will just slam you with rude remarks. My group did nothing and I ended up doing the whole project on my own. She didnt care and didnt assist in any way. The work load is heavy, which is understandable at this level. I just wish she was not so rude and aggressive
The professor seemed disorganized and did not offer clarification until a week later. The class itself is easy but don't expect to hear from the professor. If you're someone who does not need guidance this class is for you, but if you are someone who has questions, I would suggest finding another professor.
This professor is unorganized & reads straight from the PowerPoint for lecture videos. She doesnt give a study guide for exams and there are things she doesnt go over that are on the exams. Grades are messed up until the day grades are due. Comes across as very rude. The group project is graded especially hard, even when she doesnt explain it well.
The final and midterm are scheduled for dates and times that she chooses. Like why? Grades are extremely tough, she bases her grading on things outside of the rubric she writes. This was the most stressful and demanding class I have had to date. Do not take it unless you are prepared to base 4 months of your life around this class for a bad grade.
I had an amazing time with Dr. Beer's class. Sure, it's lot of work and we really need to put in the time but it's really rewarding! Dr. Beer dedicated lot of time to clear my doubts.
Professor Beer is one of the most supportive and organized instructors I've had. She's always available to help, explains concepts clearly with great examples, and makes finance easy to understand. Her homework and exams are fair, with helpful study guides and review sessions. She truly cares about her students' success.
