Best teacher ever! The notes are very clear and he is very clear on what you need to study for the exam especially if you listen in class. The first were exams were very easy and had an average in the 70's. The final had a lot to study for and probably had an average in the 60's which is still good for a University course.Highly recommend this prof

Chapleau is very enthusiastic about the course (and fish). He is very testy during office hours, and offers little sympathy for egregious mistakes made by his TAs in marking. He does record lectures, but the best thing about him, is that he gives a 5-10% bonus on the exams to "compensate" for errors. The final is very content-heavy

He's so passionate about what he teaches which is really nice, however, his voice is so soothing it's hard to pay attention especially when he talks about bacteria or phytoplankton. His tests are very hard, especially the multiple-choice questions that are extremely tricky and his graders for the written questions are extremely unfair. Good prof.

Would take again

Dr. Chapleau was easily the best teacher I had all year. His lectures were always interesting and of great quality. He put lots of effort into making his prerecorded lectures during the pandemic. The tests were fair but be sure to listen to all the videos. Best advice, he marks key words so pay attention to the words in bold on his slides.

He's a passionate prof. He reuses most of his midterm questions from previous years so look for them and do them as practice.
