Very interesting and enjoyable course. Anyone looking to major in history or just want general knowledge of Canadian or Chinese history should deffinetly take this course.

He's really nice and an easy marker. He uses a lot of visuals for effect. Have to do presentations and essays. Overall a good teacher!

He's easy to approach, but marks your research essay hard. Midterm is take home and he gives you the question on the first day of class. You don't have to do the readings and he's easy to get an A- even if you don't try hard. Lectures can be boring.

frank is a great teacher, he has one presentation couple of minor assignments, a midterm and final. He tell you exactly what will be the work discussed. His lectures are interesting.

Frank's classes are always laid back and relaxing. He made the most out of a Canadian History class and is an easy marker.

Frank is a great lecturer, which is why he shouldn't turn the class over to the students with all the presentations.

the easiest course i have ever taken in my life. all you have is an essay, take home midterm, and a final which your given the questions in advance and you're allowed to bring an outline.

I love frank! He is such an awesome teacher. I was not too keen on taking Canadian Hist. but he made it so interesting that I wish I had majored in HIST instead of PSYC. Classes are always interesting.

wicked teacher! best at kwantlen...very helpful, personable and openminded towards interpretations of history. His classes were always fun. All assignments were fair and enable you to do the best you possibly can. Not big on dates, but rather understanding of events.

Abbott is a really easy/nice teacher, however his classes are really boring and his lectures contain no notes, just overhead pictures. Hence you forget alot of information. Several small assignments one essay/oral presentation = student seminars classes. GPA boosting class, didnt enjoy the class.

Wasn't really into the class at first. Lectures were a little slow because our class was super quiet. Got more into it after a while though. Frank is really nice.

Frank is a great history teacher; the assignments are not difficult, he marks very generously and is a very nice guy. He is easy to understand and clearly knows the material very well. This guy makes the course so much simpler while not dumbing it down so you feel like your wasting your money.

I thought he was interesting, however, the student presentations are boring. He is very very helpful if you go see him. Test are fair and easy.

Love him as a teacher we should have more like him.

I've had Frank for my Chinese and Canadian History classes. He is awsome. He goes out of his way to help you with your essay/presentation, he is a fairly easy marker, and if you learn visually, you'll like the way he teaches. He's funny to. He likes participation. It helps the class be less dry.

Very nice teacher! Easy assignments and best of all no tests! Hate History and got 2nd highest mark on final. Didn't prepare till the night before.

Greatest teacher ever. Enjoyed learning with him and couldn't get enough of history. We need more teachers like him, he makes it interesting to learn, and you need to read some materials, would take his classes again.

Very good teacher, awesome course. He makes even Canadian History a little bit entertaining, which is saying a lot. A movie starring Arnold couldn't make Canadian history interesting. But he keeps you a wake. Hell of a teacher, I recommend him highly

I love how he tries to tie in breaks with the lecture. It's HILLARIOUS. I like how he gives you a sufficient amount of time to do his homeworks/essays and he's always availible to help. Also, I like how he doesn't make you feel like you are wrong when you make a comment in class. And he has a nice butt.

Frank is one of the nicest, easiest-to-approach profs you'll ever have. He's also very smart - his lectures can lull you to sleep because he's kind of soft-spoken, but if you listen you find that he knows what he's talking about and he has a great, dry sense of humor. Take home mid-term topics are DAMN HARD, but he'll do everything he can to help.

Very easy course. Show up and get a B. can be a little slow moving at times but at least you can fall asleep for a few minutes and not miss much.

I love history, and that is maybe why I found this class pretty easy, I didn't even have to pick up my textbook all semester. I thought he was interesting, and informative, a little piecey and disjointed in teaching, but do your document readings, write some essays, talk to Frank, he will give you so much help! It is a good class

A great professor who steers away from politics and focuses on everyday life and people which makes the course very interesting. He is also always willing to help.

easy teacher, don't have to show up to class i took him for his 1114, and for european history 2113, dont have to show up, dont have to read the text book, can hand in assignments late and still get a high B in his class!!! he also looks like Mr. Clean hehe

By far one of the best profs at Kwantlen. He made material that wasn't that interesting, interesting. If anyone's considering taking a history course at Kwantlen, I highly recommend Frank!

Frank is awesome. It's important to attend class because class participation is 15% of the grade. He has two text books, I only used the readings package really, don't bother buying the other one. Extremely helpful prof that wants you to succeed. Definitely give him a try. Plus, he looks like Mr. Clean and how awesome is that?

I've taking Frank three times and each time has been an excellent experience. He's an extremely fair marker is very willing to help with anything. There is usually 3 mini writing assignments, one midterm paper, a term paper with a presentation and one final in class assignment.

Hey Everyone, just wanted to say that Frank is the best prof at Kwantlen. Very understanding and cares for his students! Deep passion for teaching history...and demonstrates it in many ways besides lectures (games, trips ect) Lot of essay writting in his class however, after you are done the course you realize you gained and learned so much from it

Frank is a generous marker when it comes to writing assignments.I also like him for being honest and understanding. He likes to help whenever he can so if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask him. Oh and did I mention his class is very easy (yet tedious)? Honestly by far the easiest professor in kwantlen. And he is nice too so that's a plus :D

Super nice guy! Looked forward to his class. He incorporated tons of images into lectures to make it more interesting and has a GREAT sense of humour. Writing intensive, but Frank is a relatively easy marker. No exams. 10 min presentation required, but Frank is very encouraging. High emphasis on participation. Definately recommend him!

VERY nice professor, would totally recommend him. Final exam is take home =)textbook use rarely, but his documents are very necessary to pass this course. Read those and you will be fine.

I had Frank last semester. I had no interest whatsoever in History, I just needed an elective. He is a talker with the help of his power point. In all honesty, he's a great teacher, takes time for his students, understands circumstance and uses humour to lighten the mood. Papers are all under 3 pages and the midterm is take home. Totally recommend!

History 1113 + 1114. Very clear & organized. Classes are student presentations and his lectures. He makes Canadian history as interesting as such a boring subject can be. Take home midterm, 8 page paper, 10 minute presentation, no final.

Good teacher and always willing to help you on assignments. His course outline for HIST 1113 was 3 short assignments, midterm, final and a big project. Hes fairly straight forward and explains all his expectations. Awesome teacher I am taking History 1114 with him next semester!

Best teacher by far I have ever had in Kwantlen! Sometimes the classes do become dull and boring, but Frank picks up on that and makes jokes to snap you back to reality. Taking him again in Hist 1114. Made Canadian history really enjoyable. Highly recommend taking this prof.

Do not believe the person saying he failed lots of students. Frank is the easiest marker i've ever had. Yes there are a lot of assignments but they are not difficult. You don't need to take notes as there are no tests, assignments are based mostly on opinion.

He made a real effort to make the class interesting, has a genuine interest in the subject. Generous marker who allows creativity in the writing assignments. No final exam just a fair bit of writing during the semester but nothing to hard. 15% for participation so you need to show up to do well.

The best professor I ever had. Smart, funny, knowledgeable, helpful, goes out of his way to make sure everyone succeeds and has all the help they need. Even better, he marks your work based mostly on how much effort put in, so even if you get stuff wrong, you can still get good marks if it looks like you put in the time into your work.

Frank is an amazing prof! Would highly recommend him. He is incredibly passionate about history and that reflects in his teaching. Love the dry sense of humour. He's also very understanding so don't be afraid to go see him in office hours! Also...no exams. Need I say more? :D

I only need 1 Canadian History course for going into teaching - so glad I took it with him. Frank is a kind, understanding compassionate teacher who genuinely cares about a) history and b) his students. He accommodates everyone and fosters a positive learning environment. If I had to another History class I would take it with him in a heartbeat.

I've always disliked history and was scared to take this class because its mandatory for pdp..but Frank is AMAZING..no tests no finals nothing..lots of writing and essays though! but hes a very easy marker! I definitely recommend him!!

Frank is awesome! Interesting lectures, he knows the material inside and out. You will do a presentation, a paper, and 4 or 5 other writing assignments. But no tests. If you put effort in and show that you understand the material, you should get a good mark. I highly recommend Frank!

Wanna 'A' take Franks Class, Great Teacher

As everyone else has said Frank is an awesome very understanding teacher. I would recommend him to anyone. He marks fairly easy if you put an effort in. His courses do require a fair bit of writing but no final or tests easily make up for that.

To start off, history is BORING. Despite that, Frank was always offering help and attempting to make class as interesting as possible. Assignments were many but if you form study groups and get a lot of discussion in, it really helps and reflects in your overall mark. One paper and presentation and NO exams! TAKE HIM!

I liked him. Relaxed class. I laughed a lot during his class. He has a good sense of humour. Hardly any homework. No tests. 10 page research paper but it wasn't that hard. You must make a presentation of your research paper. I don't like history but I liked his class.

good attitude, has humorous comments sometimes. Nice guy. fair marker to easy. He knows his stuff, but the hard part of the lectures is that he reads of his powerpoints, which have lots of info so its hard to keep up. In turn the lectures do get a little boring. Only reading for assignments and mid-terms are necessary.

He is one of my favorite teachers. I will take history again in Fall as long as he's my teacher.

Best professor at Kwantlen. The man is a legend. My high school history and english teachers were taught by this man, and they went into their programs because of Frank. Just an overall nice guy that is really into his subject. He's helpful, on time, wants you to succeed, and makes Canadian history something worthwhile (also a super easy class)

after getting horrible grades in hist 1130 in Jake Newton's class, Frank restored my faith in the history department. He made history fun for me again!
