Professor Baglin is very knowledgeable in chemistry, however he doesn't explain it very well. His notes aren't very helpful so I pretty much taught myself the material. Make sure you have a good chemistry base when you go into his class or you'll be in trouble. His tests are easy if u study!

the first 10 min. of class explain the chapter. then after that the next 40 min. is like a history lessson. he just rambles on about what happened forever ago. if you want to be able to pass the class you will need to teach yourself from your book

Baglin was very knowledgable on the subject of chemistry. He was not however very good at explaining it. He would discuss what he wanted to talk about for about 10 mins then ramble on about how this subject affects pavement or something. -.-() only sugge

Baglin is great at office hours, and probably the easiest guy to do undergrad research for. He also lectures so that you don't fall asleep, and he doesn't give a damn if you're late or doing something else during lecture.

He is a great teacher if you just listen to him and pull your head out. If you have Baglin as a chem 101/102 student and hated him chances are you didn't study or pay attention in class

I agree that he is very knowledgable; however, he does not explain what he talking about very well! I can sit and listen to him lecture the entire time and then come out of that class totally confused! It would be better if he was more organized and didn't pull things out of the air

He's very clear about what he wants you to learn. Though he does ramble a bit, but he somehow finds a way to tie it all together. Overall one of the best chem teachers ive had.

Baglin will go on about all this meaningless stuff that he will not test you on... Then you will have to learn everything else yourself... First exam is the easy one. after that the whole class is screwed.. The Lab TA's suck too

I thought this guy was great. He's really funny and sometimes rambles about failed marriages. I liked him class and he really wants everyone to do well. He encourages everyone to ask questions and insists that people do, especially if he knows he's not being clear. He seams very helpful and tries really hard to prepare everyone.

I liked professor Baglin. I enjoy a teacher that knows the name of his students and throws a good joke out there every class. He has a very strong command of chemsitry and it shows in his explanations. He asks to be stopped, to be questioned. His test are out of 140 points so there is more than enough opportunity to recieve extra credit and sco

He doesn't give many examples in class, which makes doing the homework a bit difficult. His tests are worth 140 points but he grades out of 100, so if you keep up on the homework you can do really well in his class. Probably best to take his class only if you have taken chemistry before.

Baglin is not a clear or helpful professor. I would not take the class if you want a clear understanding of basic chemistry or if you have never had chemistry before. The only way to pass the class is to read and study on your own and use the 40 extra credit points built into tests. I strongly recomend taking any other teacher possible.

boring class with a dry sense of humor. the teacher knows his stuff but makes simple mistakes frequently when doing problems on the board. basically the textbook is your friend. if you read it and do his sample problems, you will do fine. most of his tests are solving equations. but the good news is that he gives 40 points extra credit on each test

He knows what he is talking about, but he does not know how to help others understand what he knows. He spends too much time talking about the enviroment and not enough time explaining the Chemistry. He is a nice guy but almost impossible to learn from. Readbk

The worst professor I've had at UNR so far. He didn't teach CHEM 122 he taught thermo(he would be a great thermo prof though), and wasted our time showing intergrations and deriving equations that were not needed. He is also on a HUGE global warming kick.

I am TERRIBLE at chemistry & got an A. I'm not a great student. TIP: go to all the student SI sessions, there aren't many, do the practice exams before exams, & read your darn book. I am the proverbial retard of chemistry & I passed. He gives 40 points of extra credit per test, more on the final. SI really helped me. He's willing to help those ask.

Decent professor overall. Just make sure you know how to do all assigned problems, for they will appear on the midterms/final. Offers 40 EC on each test and 50 EC on the final.

Very easy teacher! Go to the SI sessions and you will be golden. All i did was memorize how to do every problem on the sample tests and he uses the same questions on his new tests. Such a cake class. He also gives you thirty or forty free points on the test, so you can get 130 but he only counts the total out of 100. Real nice guy too.

I don't know why people complain about him. STUDY THE PREVIOUS EXAMS AND THE DO ALL THE HOMEWORK PROBLEMS THAT HE ASSIGNS. PRACTICE THEM OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Trust me they are the same problems on the exams. If you know how to do all the previous exam problems and all the practice problems you'll get an A in the course.

I cannot express how frustrating his lectures are. He is so incoherent and irrelevent to chemistry, I'm suprised he is still teaching. He makes hillarious jokes about the Bush administration and thats about his only strong point. He has been so wrong so many times on concepts and practice problems that I'd rather not come to class.

the worst teacher i have ever had. but over all the class was simple. i went to maybe two lectures throughout the entire semester and got an A. the secret is to memorize the practice exams that are posted online...THATS IT!

Dr. Baglin is a very brilliant instructor, he does go off on tangents a lot, but most of the time they are funny and entertaining. He asks everyone if they are clear, and does not proceed until everyone understands. He is very helpful outside of class, and understanding. All around good guy and good class.

I think Dr. Baglin is a very nice guy, adorable in an old man way, but not the greatest professor to teach an introductory course. But it is extremely easy to get an A in this class.

He is extremely knowledgable and understands chemistry. If you read the text book, take notes, and do the practice quizes and practice assignments, you should do well in the course. I suggest going to lecture because he will explain things more clearly. Good luck!

Total grade is based on two exams and lab, so study hard for the exams. The best advice is to do all of the old exams that the professor has posted and review all the home that is "assigned." All in all, a decent class. Wish I learned more. Also wish that the TAs didn't grade the papers.

Need to read book. He can explain it, but not if you don't know the basis of what he's saying. Only have to come to lectures for difficult chapters. Easy class, just read and do the practice tests.

Frank is very good teacher he gets a little off topic at times but knows his stuff. really easy class if you study the practice exams, they are exactly the same. i recomend taking his class

GREAT PROFESSOR! He really explains everything and wants to help you learn. Class is very helpful and he tells a lot of jokes. Exams are very straight forward and he gives many practice tests to go through. High recommend taking him to anyone. No homework either.

Dr. Baglin is a great professor, he has been doing this for years and knows the material very well. The only reason people give him bad ratings is because they don't want to put in any effort and are upset when they get bad grades. If you have even a minute amount of common sense and intelligence he is not confusing at all.

You will do well in this class if you read the text book and meticulously follow every lecture. Baglin goes off on riddiculous tangents in the class often so if you don't already have some knowlege of the material you will be lost. Reuses test questions so if you do the previous tests you should be fine. This class might as well have no proffessor.

Baglin=the epitome of a pointless teacher,he rarely discusses chemistry and would rather talk about pointless crap like failed relationships and how hes from Detroit. He is the reason why teachers shouldnt get tenure, he completely lost any pride in his job and couldn't care less about his students. Class is pointless, just study the practice exams

He's really easy to get an A from. Although the information can seem totally confusing in lecture, if you study hard before exams it becomes much clearer. There's no homework and your grade is completely based on lab and 3 tests, but the good news is that each test has 30 extra credit points built in. If you study, hard NOT to get an A!!!

He's basically useless and doesn't really teach. You don't even need to go to class to get a good grade. Just learn about four or five of his past test to do well on current test. I never went and got an A in the class. You shouldn't take the class if you plan to learn but if you want the easiest A you'll ever get in your live go for it.

Baglin is a very nice guy if you get to know him outside of class. He has started to make his tests based on the book rather then his practice tests so it has gotten a lot difficult not too add he is a little confusing in lecture. He tends to put the problems he does in class on his tests so if you go to class and read the book it is an easy class

Although Dr. Baglin's lectures can be somewhat confusing, if you do the practice problems in the book and go to class you are definitely going to get an A, as the problems are verbatum as to what he puts on the test. Not only that, but he is actually a very nice guy and willing to help you out if you just go and talk to him.

He is the easiest teacher i ever had. He has no homework, all graded on exams. All exams were graded out of 100 points, but with 130 possible. Thats 30 extra credit points. All the questions are off of previous exams and all old exams are on line. So all you have to do is memorize the old answers. I never went to class once and I got over 100%.

He's an alright teacher, no real homework is nice but does mean if you haven't taken chem in high school you're kinda screwed. Read the book before the lectures, its the only way he makes sense if you haven't taken chem before. The SI sessions were the REAL help for the tests, not the instructor.

exams are pretty much just like the past exams, so try to look over all of them, bc he takes takes question from almost all the past exams. go to class, if not he'll change the next exam and it wont be anything like the past exams, that's what happened to our class for exam II. and go to the SI.

This class is pointless. He says that everyone will do really good in the class, and most people get out with at least a C. He doesn't make a lot of sense and has a tendency to make up his own theories to put on the tests. If he says that the tests will be based off lectures he's lying. Just study old tests and you'll be fine.

Terrible, terrible teacher. He seems nice enough, but if he posses the ability to teach, I've never seen it. Often goes off on random tangent and speeches during class, and we rarely actually learn anything during the lectures. The SI sessions that used to be available are discontinued, so the whole class is probably screwed.

Studying for an exam right now, I went to every lecture, and I do not feel prepared. Very unhappy camper. This reminds me a lot of 121 except it makes less sense. I hate chemistry and Baglin makes it suck that much more...

If you ever want to know what kind of elements that Pandora are made from, then take this class. Baglin is awesome with making up random stories and telling us to greet visitors from other planets, by telling them they have the same periodic chart as us. Take this class, Baglin is incredible. I have never had such great negative teaching in my life

Professor Baglin's theory on foriegn planets is mind boggling. He refrences to movies such as Avatar quite frequently. If he forgets what he is talking about, he just makes up some life story about people he might or might not have met. The term we would describe his teaching is hinderance.

Honest truth: You will be confused, go to every single class and office hours. He is hard to understand but his tests are EASY. Do the previous exams over and over to get a grade in this class. I recommend a friend or tutor that is adept in Chemistry to help you.

Horrible professor. Going to class was useless because I could never decipher him. Went to him before class once and he was completely useless and not helpful at all. He treats students like little kids and talks down on them. Go to the S.I. sessions! Very helpful! He is beginning to deter away from past tests so be prepared (even if its easy)

He will spend most of each lecture telling you to read the book and he doesn't answer questions well. If you get past the fact that he's a jerk, the 30 pts extra credit on the 3 exams that are not cumulative are worth it. No homework, very passable if you don't expect help from him and get it elsewhere.

I don't know what everyone is talking about. Professor Baglin is a great professor. The only thing is, its a little bit of a self paced class. He does not offer homework, so it will be to your advantage to study on your own time. He gives you the materials needed to succeed, its up to you whether you use them or not. He also is pretty funny.

I'm glad I'm not in his class, but in McCullough's instead.I heard from a friend taking his class that he doesn't give any homework, and his exams are all from past exams.Ridiculous!This class is meant for people who just want to get an easy A, not to actually learn anything.Sorry, but I don't want to be in a class where I just memorize answers!!

The honest truth: You will be confused. If even though going to class seems like a waste of time, it helps just to write something down. Go to his office hours, and do the practice tests over and over. Also I highly recommend finding a friend or tutor that is adept in chemistry!

Extremely easy class to pass. Baglin is not a good lecturer and points out people who do not know the material. I didn't learn anything from him; I learned everything from my lab teacher (Brady). Just do the past exam - future exams are past exams copied and pasted - and you'll do amazing in the class.

Imagine the best teacher you've ever had. Now picture the exact opposite; that's Baglin. No power points, he's old, angry, doesn't wanna be there, and can't explain anything. God help you if you have a question. Sadly he's tenured so he's there to stay. Take someone else if you want to learn. Wish I had.

His lectures are not helpful and if you ask questions he makes you feel stupid and talks down to you. Spends more time giving life lessons than actually teaching. If you actually want to learn I would suggest taking a different prof. If you do take him do the past exams, practice problems and prepare to hire a tutor.

I thought this class would be an easy A. I attended most of the lectures, and I read a lot of the book. But, his tests were pretty hard. The final had material that we had never even seen before. The final took me down to a B. If you want to learn the material and don't want to hold your breathe for a grade, don't take chem 122 with him.

He is a little difficult to follow especially being I never had a chem class before but if you go to all the classes and the SI sessions helped me the most you'll be fine I got an A- coulda prolly got an A but It was my first chem class so it was a little difficult. Also try and do the readings it really helps make lecture make sense

it was pointless to go to the lecture. i went twice in three weeks, went to the SI review session and looked at his past exams(which he keeps online) and did fine. he also rambles like none other in lecture

As my first chemistry class, it was pretty hard. He didn't really "teach", but gave tons of life stories. He's cool as a person, but as a teacher he needs some work. There are three tests that don't conicide with the book. There are practice tests online so they're easy to pass though. Pray you get the same SI I did and go to them. Do that & easy A

All he did was talk about his wife and the differences between men and women, almost no chemistry. I dropped this class because I couldn't get any information out of him. Maybe he should teach a psychology class instead.

This class would be easy if I studied. Baglin wasn't clear during lectures, so no one went. Thank God for out TA who was amazing (and hot,) who provided a cram session the night before that surely boosted the class average 1-2 letter grades. Well, now Baglin in retired so you won't be able to hear him trying to be funny, and I can't say AVOID him

Professor Baglin is a really nice guy, but he has a very unfocused teaching style and generally does not teach about things that have relevance. As long as you go to the TA's session before every exam, it's an easy A because he doesn't change test questions from previous tests, but if you want to learn take someone else's class.
