AMAZING PROFESSOR! I'm glad I took this class with him, even though it was a 7a.m. class it was worth waking up to. He is helpful in every way, he does not leave a student behind. I highly recommend this class
Highly recommend this class!
Great professor! Learned a great deal and was extremely open to help outside of class. I had many questions and they were also answered via email, with detail. Mr. B. made this semester of Math fun. Highly recommend to all
HIS MEAN DOESNT LIKE GOING OVER THE LESSON. WILL LEAVE U BEHIND!!!!!!HE WILL REALLY DROP YOU DONT SHOW UP.
Highly recommend taking Professor Frank.Homework nothing out of the ordinary,I've been given more in other math classes. He's a very fair grader, drops lowest test score.Gave extra credit, engaged with students 1 hour before class to answer questions. He knows a factoring method that will save your ass. As an Engineer major, this method is priceless.
He is a extremely good professor. I highly recommend to take his class. He is very fair and will always be able to help you if you put interest in his class. Take his class, totally worth it...!!
Mr. Bermudez is a very supportive professor inside and outside class. His lectures are very organized. If you are willing to take his class, be sure to attend regularly, take notes, and do your homeworks daily to succeed.
This Guy is awesome. He knows how to make his class interesting, and also explains it very well. Despite I knew all the math he was teaching, I still had fun in his class. He breaks down problems very well that you might not even need to bring a notebook. If you do the homework there's no way you are failing his class. Totally RECOMMEND this class.
I took math with Mr. Bermudez this summer and I must admit he's one of the greatest math teachers I've had! He's so helpful and everything is crystal clear when he's done lecturing. Just do the hw because tests are based off that and attendance is mandatory. His enthusiasm will make you want to keep going. Oh and super quick to reply to emails.
Great professor. He's succinct, prepared and organized. You can tell he knows his stuff. Rarely gets stomped or confused. If he says he'll drop you if you miss x number of classes and will not take late HW he will and he won't respectively. Treat you like an adult and expects you to be responsible.
His lectures are very clear and organized. Make sure to take notes in class and do your homework. He sometimes give pop quizzes, usually at the beginning of the chapter. Tests are not difficult, chapter review and chapter test in the book can really help you on the test. He sometimes make mistakes but you can tell he knows his materials.
Really good teacher. I would definitely take him if he teaches 7B which he does not. He usually gives five exams before the final exam. The very first test of 7A was really really easy. It was just basic algebras but the test started to get challenging after the 1st test. If you get A's on all the five exams, you don't have to take the finals
Mr. B is a great teacher, maybe the best math professor I had ever had. He is very responsible and he expects the same from his students. The only problem is that due to his very busy schedule he doesn't have enough office hours (1 he before every test 5 test 5 total office hrs). Don't need to bring book to class, use the library's one to do hw.
Mr. B is very helpful! He will answer questions in detail if you email him. He made the materials very easy to understand. His tests are not difficult, he doesn't try to trick you with tricky questions but you do have to study for them. I would definitely take him again, but he doesn't teach 7B :(
TAKE HIM. Hands down best math teacher I've ever had. His lectures are crystal clear. Attendance needs to be a priority because he often hints to specific problems that will be on upcoming tests. Homework is due every class period excluding the day after a test, do it and you'll have no problem getting an A. This teacher really goes the extra mile.
I failed his class by my own mistake but hands down, he's the greatest math teacher
I took Math 131 with him over the summer and got an A; he made me love math all over again! I took Math 7A with him in the fall and I got a B. I like that he makes his homework assignments due daily so there's no time to slack off and you're always on track with the material being taught. Wish he taught 7B, because I'd totally take him again.
he is really tough on grading and homework. he doesn't go over homework. and doesn't accept anything late. his exam are really hard.
Homework is due each class time which I find is good but he rushes through the sections quickly and even crams 3 sections in one class with no break. Also makes the test unnecessarily hard. Expect to do almost all the learning on your own and don't wait two days before the test to start studying, start earlier
He's not a bad teacher, but not the best either. Although he is very clear on notes, the lectures never end. It starts from the minute you walk in down to the last second, with not even a five minute break. If you like very dry styled teaching( notes in class, homework at home) versus the more interactive style of teaching then hes good for you.
If you are planning to take him be prepared to do lots of homework and learn fast on your own. He goes by materials very quickly and missing a day is like missing a whole week. His tests are unnecessarily hard and his class is fairly boring with not much connection or passion.
Took his class in the fall and got an A. Overall his class is not difficult for a math class but you still have to do all the work and study. You can'y pass without studying. His lectures are very clear and he doesn't try to trick you with hard questions on the test. Most of the questions on his test are relatively easy compared to other teachers.
Overall not a good teacher, he is a nice person though. He doesn't care about students grades or if they learn or not to him its just about getting through the semester plan. He doesn't have a review day before a test which is ridiculous and expect to do all the learning on your own. No breaks during class either at all and the exams are tough
Take him if you are willing to learn! Tests are not hard if you stick to your task in doing all your homework. He is a great professor and respects his students. The only thing i don't like about this class is that there is no breaks, but other than that, if do you homework and attend your classes, you will be all good to get the grade you want!
Honestly a fantastic teacher, In terms of workload it is going to be the same as any other math class. However the instructor was excellent at making mathematical concepts seem like common sense. The hardest part of the class for me was remembering to pay attention because he made the math seem to easy. Do the homework, Pay attention, get an A.
I took his 7A class over the summer and it honestly made me enjoy math. Don't get discouraged by the negative reviews on here; Prof. B is one of the best professors I've had! Regardless of the difficulty of the subject material, his lectures are extremely clear and so are his tests. Just apply yourself + do hw as it's assigned and you'll do well!
Prof. B is amazing! He actually teaches and there for you if you need help. He's understands your work schedule and is willing to work out deals. Homework isn't mandatory but his tests are ALL questions from H.W. Do the homework and you'll pass. Try not to miss class, you'll fail although attendance isn't mandatory. But seriously, take him.
By far my favorite professor! He cares about each and every one of his students. I would highly recommend taking him because you WILL LEARN. If you push yourself to study long enough, go over the homework before tests along with asking questions during office hours- you will pass. He is the best!!!!! Mr B. rocks!
Great professor. He is great at explaining the material. Always willing to help. He treat me and other students very well. There is a lot of homework which is expected in any math class also i took him in the winter which is probably why we had so much homework. Do your work and focus in class you will pass.
It's extremely difficult to explain how awesome Mr.B really is in 350 characters. In short, this guy's take on teaching is what solidifies my faith in the value of education. He's the type of no nonsense teacher you respect profoundly but wouldn't mind grabbing a beer with. Helpful, wise, cool & hilarious. Great professor & an even better friend.
Inspires: students to believe in themselves with brainology intro. to show that anyone is capable of learning math. Caring: for those who care to show up on time, to show their efforts through completed hw, & follow his no phones rule! beware of pop quizzes- he may feel in the mood to write one night before He is fun and cool, & energetic.
Professor Bermudez is very helpful even if you're not in his class. He will always be there to help and encourage you to think. Very good at explaining concepts. I highly recommend professor Bermudez:)
He's one of those teachers that are cool as a person not so much as a teacher. He cares but he's not going to round or give extra credit .He does not round the grade at all. In fact he just told us that if we did not get the grade we wanted and we email him he is not going to answer. I just took his class and I personally wouldn't take it again.
If you're the type that can teach yourself you'll be fine. Class example are just reading the problems from the book. If you prepare ahead of time you can use that time to your advantage. Homework is done in class, another opportunity to ask questions. Plays distracting music during, I realized too late that was going to be daily occurrence lol
Took him for Math 125 and it was a really great experience. He really wants to make sure everybody understands what we're working on. Their was some sort of weirdness with the book but once it got worked out the class always went really smoothly. He's very encouraging and has a fun attitude. He checks this site, so you rock Mr. B! ;)
I am not exagerating when I state that he is the BEST professor in the Pasadena district. I struggle with math so much and he has taught me immensely. I can speak for myself that if you didn't pass his class was because you didn't try since the beginning. He is the type of professor that is super chill but also gets down to business. take prof b !!
He does NOT teach!!! This class is perfect for someone who is already familiar with calculus and has taken a year of it in high school! If you're in that boat, take him. But if you're coming from 7B i encourage you to NOT take him. He doesn't teach or lecture, and makes you read the text book to teach yourself!! Nice guy, he just doesn't teach!!
His class was the highlight of my semester! If you are on the fence about which Math 150 teacher to take I highly recommend Mr. B! Showing up to class, and doing the homework will benefit you, as long as you put in effort you will pass. Do not take his class if you hate country music, however it might grow on you as it did for me.
He just doesn't realize that his students have other things going on. He is notorious for notifying the class about a test/quiz about half a day prior and most people dont even get the memo which is not fair considering that tests are 50 percent of the grade. To me this is unprofessional and a valid reason to never take him again. He has no mercy.
I took him last semester. He's probably the best instructor for a math class I've ever had. He makes sure you really understand the content and he gives you every chance to see him for extra help whether it be during his office hours or over email. He's passionate about math and very interactive. I'm taking him again for calculus.
Telling the study guide for the tomorrow exam and knowing that there is a test a day before the test is bad thing. We have classes and not taking the math class only.
yes ...I hope he will tell when will be the test a little earlier.
He is a good math professor .He wants his students to become good at math. He also wants his students to study hard for tests . He also reviews some chapters before the test . His lectures are also very clear .Study guide is also very helpful and help us to get good grade on the tests .
You get lots of quizzes and tests that he doesnt notify you about until like a day (sometimes less) prior. Most of the learning was from reading the book, as a hw assignment, which is fine but reading it on my own made me less motivated to pay attention to his lecture as I had already read the material on my own anyways.
Take him! You will learn! I promise! Just do the homework and study! He is funny and caring!
Well lets start with the positive. Hes flexible with the Canvas quizzes and homework which is great. All the practice tests for the 3 sections are on canvas the 1st day. Youre given every chance to do well. The not so great? Hes a little moody, humor can be a little off putting but never over the line. The music can be a little much sometimes.
Summer clas was such a great class. I did not want it to end. Prof. b is a great math professor. I always read before class so I understood what was going on. Do the homework and reading and youll get passing test scores. Practice test are online. No excuse for 0 on canvas quizzes. Just a great professor. Thank you Mr. B for making math enjoyable.
I thought Bermudez was a great instructor. He cares about making sure his students do well. I felt like students in my class werent happy with him, but I couldnt understand why. He makes himself accessible outside of class his lectures were easy to understand. It was a challenging class but thats because of the course material.
This is the second time that I take Frank and frankly, If I could I would take him for all other of my resting math classes. His "lectures" aren't boring or long which is why his class is so easy to understand. The amount of homework can be a lot, BUT it is great practice for quizzes and exams. He is super cool ! Best professor at PCC ! math150 !
Great professor, he teaches and actually learn a lot. He is super cool. Dont be shy to ask question he will clarify anything you need help with.
Amazing lecture! He is an interesting person.
Definitely not an easy A, amazing teacher, his class is chill, but you have to put in effort for the A. Tests and exams are somewhat tricky but it shouldnt be too hard if you are really good at math.
One of the best classes I've taken. Bermudez is quite the character, he knows how to teach the material and keep it interesting. Has a sense of humor and is very clear about when the quizzes and tests are. There is ALOT of homework, but all MATH150 prof have to follow the same schedule. It was a pleasure to take his class. Easy A if you do the work
In this class, you will suck in the beginning. He expects you to know everything from book. You have to actually put effort to do all of the work in that class ; online hw, slam tv, and book work. It's hard, especially if you have more than 1 class, you're not going to catch up. This class gives a lot of work, so good luck to you.
Made a boring class something to look forward to with the energy he brings to the class. You definitely need to do the homework in order to understand the material. Very fair grader, even if you get the answer wrong he will give partial credit if you clearly show you know what you are doing. Will also allow you to turn in late work.
Prof B is my favorite teacher so far , and here is why. He can be cynical, he can be unpredictable (moody), he can often be rude, but he is very funny, charismatic, knowledgeable, he has wisdom, and he likes to challenge his students. He expects you to read and work hard, but it will be for your own benefit. He is a great professor. Take him
Do not take. He belittles students. He is erratic for office hours. If you do have him for office hours he always helps students outside class first as priority. Always complains about teaching. Never tells you when a quiz or test is. Always assigns loads of homework. Worst math professor I've had at this school. This professor doesn't care.
He was a bit intimidating as first, but hes actually a pretty nice guy. He made lectures interesting because of how energetic he is. The downside is that hes really big on reading the book and teaching yourself the material.
I enjoyed this class, I EARNED the grade letter I deserved and Im proud of it. In this class youre going to have to read the book to understand the material, quizzes every other week, exams are all what youve learned, final is cumulative. He does indeed use his phone a lot in class in my T & Th lecture to talk or play games. BUT I RECOMMEND:)!
I took Stats 050 and He's an awesome professor. A couple pieces of advice though... 1. If you read the book you'll do fine in class. 2. Go to his office hours. 3. Do all the homework and participate in group work. Put effort into this class and you'll definitely enjoy it with Mr. B.
I took Prof B for the math3 & 8 mathpath sequence, and I hadn't taken a math course in about 10 yrs, so I didn't understand anything at 1st. He helped me to relearn math the right way & actually believe I could overcome & understand math. He was always in his office hours, & he went above & beyond to help me understand the concepts. Best math Prof!
Online lecture. Nothing but angry, rude, + inappropriate. Yells at students during class + often deflects blame. Perhaps better in-person. Unclear. I would NOT recommend his online courses. I would regularly expect to be yelled at as a class. We'd spend 5+ hours preparing for tests/quizzes but fail to score higher than B's. Stressful + TENSE.
Many people blame the professor for their grade. I am a firm believer that you get what you put in. I know I didnt try my 100% to get a higher grade because I had other things going on in my life. He plays a part that he is mean and strict in the beginning, but after time you will see he only wants whats best for you and your future. Life lessons
Proceed with caution. I took this course during the summer and despite the original course had been reduced to 4 units, this class was very hard. the professor is going through personal stuff (of which he displaces onto the class) and has PDA during lecture. Professor not dependable and wont explain test or quizzes. you will teach yourself.
Took over the winter, gave +5% to your total grade just for attendance which was really kind of him.
Professor Bermudez is not on your side. He is going through a lot of personal issues and takes it out on the class. He intimidates the class into not wanting to ask questions and complains that he rather the semester be over already. Be prepared to teach yourself and take quizzes outside of class time on short notice.
Professor Bermudez is one of the best math professors Ive ever taken. Took him for math08 with zoom meeting twice a week. Super interactive with students so his lecture is pretty fun tbh. Homework is optional but its the only way youre going to pass the class(all quizzes and test are almost identical to the hw). Office hour helps a tons!!
One of the worst teachers I have had. I learned more through the textbook, but ultimately I dropped the class because he would take points off for everything. Even if I had the answer right, he would not like the method I used. He teaches different compared to the way the textbook teaches you. He says attendance is not mandatory ,but it is.
such a rude professor. He was just yelling at people. I think he has a temper problem. He is also very unreasonable with his grading. his final has the most points and is one of the most difficult things I ever seen. Stay away from this professor.
I am just surprised there has not been a lawsuit because the professor is so rude. Also, he is just too tough on grading. The final is 55%. homework's are mandatory but he doesn't give you points for them. attendance is mandatory but you get no points for it. Find another professor.
His in-person and online teaching is completely different. He made attendance non-mandatory, but yet complains when people don't attend his lectures. When the majority of the class were getting terrible grades, he would continue to blame it on us. He didn't require homework and based our grades solely on quizzes and exams. Don't take him!
He gets lots of returning student for a reason. He will prep you well for your next math course. Exams and quizzes are reflections of the hw, most of the time the problems came from the textbook. Alway available in office hour, would go out of his way to help you. He might seem intimidating at first but he just want you to do well! Take him!
Best math professor! funny and super helpful! don't get discourage by his "yelling", that's just how he talks lol. He really care and just want you to do good! very interactive with students. just put in the work and it'll pay off. Exams and quizzes are straight forward ( similar to hw). Don't be afraid to ask questions!
I'm genuinely surprised by some of the negative comments on here about Mr B. He is an excellent math professor! His teaching is clear and thorough, and yes he does get "impassioned" at times lol but I wouldn't take that as "yelling", he just cares that his students are learning and applying themselves to complete the material! Would take again!
Mr. B's Lectures were clear and concise. Sometimes lengthy but, it was necessary for quality teaching. He teaches directly from the textbook and does examples. If a question arises he is always promt and gives excellent guidance. Although his tests are more difficult than others, he grades extremely fair. You can tell he has a passion for teaching!
Mr. B really does care about his students, he tries his best to help everyone out especially those that put in effort. It's a bit difficult to learn quickly because Summer classes are extremely quick and so the lectures are very heavy on material but he has made it easy to understand and gives partial credit for tests/quizzes and gives study guides
I took him a couple years back... As long as you do the work, do what he recommends, ask questions however stupid they may seem, and reach out when you need help you will be fine. He is a very cool, lighthearted, and funny professor, and the best math prof. I have ever had. Bermudez, if you read this, Sincerely, "Professor".
I don't understand why people who skip Math lectures expecting to pass? Math is hard, and he makes the lectures easy to understand. As for the Quizzes and Tests, make sure to finish your HW every sessions so then you would understand how to solve each questions. He's cool beans, not a hard Prof but a caring Prof. "I need to try it first"
I had Mr. B for my Calculus 2 class online and it was a great decision. I struggled for the first half of the semester, but I took his advice and really put in the work and it made the world of difference. He's not an easy-A and his teaching style is not for everyone, but he genuinely cares for his students and is a wonderful professor. Thanks Mr.B
The way Professor Bermudez teaches is very intense, which makes sense because he is an ex-navy. If you follow along, take notes, and do the required reading/homework you will sufficiently understand the subject.
Mister B is the best math professor. He is inspiring! Plus, his appreciation for math is contagious. He is present even during online lectures, and a great communicator. I wish every teacher was like Mister B.
This teacher has personal problems and takes it out on his students, I'm surprised to see that he has good comments. He yells at his class and makes you feel intimidated when asking questions. Avoid him!
AMAZING! Mr.B tries hard to help his students succeed, both in class and office hours. I wish I had taken more math classes with him in the past. If you want an A in this class, you have to really work hard and practice a lot. It is not an easy A class. But it is worth it because I learned so much. Tip: don't forget to simplify your fractions!!
Great teacher who understands how students learn math. Mr. B's explanations are clear and his methods, tips and tricks for problem-solving really stick with you. He expects you to know the material well, but in turn offers a ton of support in class and in office hours. Very invested in students succeeding in future math studies. Highly recommend.
Mr. B speaks loud and clear in class lectures, he also does Zoom meetings outside of class to help students with things they struggle with. But, the WebAssign homework he assigns is overwhelming and is painful to use, despite doing all of it and studying for hours I was still failing to learn. He needs to make the homework, WebAssign is too vague.
This is a very valid class! This is a class where you have to put in the work and keep up with the work. Doing the work last minute will eventually lead to consequences on the exams. I started off with a 55%, but that was my fault! I put in the work and passed the class. Currently taking trig because he's a great instructor.
Mr. B is a very VALID professor! He really cares about his students and you can tell. He consistently takes time outside of class time to help students. Don't fear the 'math rage' it's meant out of love. He's making sure you don't forget important things or make dumb mistakes when it comes time to test. Forever Factoring! Mr. B is a great teacher!
I would say if you put in the work, Mr. B is there to support you. There aren't many professors who are as hands on as Mr. B and I am really grateful for all the time and effort he puts in. I might have gotten lucky with Mr B as a teacher for calc 1 cause he might not do online again. And personally I'd rather spend time studying than in traffic.
Mr. B has been one of the best math professors I have ever had. The class was difficult, but Mr. B has a passion for math that radiates through his lectures. It's very important to stay on top of your homework, witch there can be alot of in this class. He cares for his students. Be ready to work, but more importantly be ready to learn.
I took his class over the summer and obviously it was very fast pace but luckily Mr. B was super willing to help and hop on zoom all the time outside of class. He was always very clear on what would show up on the exams. I highly recommend everyone take him.
I took Prof B exactly a year ago & to this day is one of the best profs I've ever had. He's funny & a great instructor. Obviously he needs you to show up and put in the work, but is always willing to help if you are struggling. Follow the stat 50 handout, take notes on the lectures, do hw & you'll do well! If I could take him again I 100% would!
This math is hard. Expect a challenge. Professor Bermudez is awesome. He really wants you do to well, and he's readily available to help students in the success center.
If you can, take Prof B for calc. Not only does he explain the lectures well, but he tries to help you if you are struggling. I will not lie; calculus is hard, but if you put in the work and do NOT procrastinate, you can pass this class with an A or B. Also, he does have "math rages", but they're funny not scary lol.
A lot of people in the class really liked him, but if you have any learning disabilities/struggles he's not the one for you. He was completely unaccommodating and made fun of my issues during a test on zoom to the whole class. We ended up getting the dean involved and I had to switch to a different professor. If you use DSPS don't take his class!!
The class was a lot of work, especially since the homework easily piles up, but I think he made it manageable in the sense that he is super supportive. Go to office hours for every question you have and keep up with the webassigns and you'll do well. Review problems from the book for tests!! I feel like I learned a lot and I enjoyed it as well.
Great professor who really cares about his students. The math rage is real, Mr. Bermudez gets very excited about math, don't mistake it for anger, it's not. He's very funny and will go above and beyond to make you successful in his classes... One thing, don't slack. He really wants you to be ahead of schedule. Don't procrastinate.
I've never had a teacher care more then him. He's super passionate and wants everyone to succeed but doesn't lower his standards. The material is hard but his support makes it doable. Super quick grader. I can't recommend him enough, he has made me actually like math when before I hated it. Very accommodating and helpful. Take Mr. B.
The professor is a tough grader. Even though I passed I felt like I didn't learn anything since he doesn't do a good job at explaining things. Take someone else if you want a professor who is understanding.
You need to pay for a tutorial, and basically you don't lecture in class, so students can watch the videos and learn on their own. The importance of self-study is repeatedly stressed in class, but some examples do not convince students.
You have to pay for online access and will be kicked from the class if you are not registered on day one. And you are expected to spend just as much time outside the class room studying as inside.
Pros: Amazing lecture, super quick grader. You can get test scores right after taking the test. cares about students. Cons: If you want to get a free A, this professor is not your first choice. Even he will replace your lowest test with final scores. And final test just basically a combination of the previous tests. But you still have to work hard.
Took his 5b during summer. These losers are calling him rude but its clear he is passionate and he truly cares about mathematics. Idk how much easier he can make it. He gives good feedback. 5B in general is a tough subject and he makes it very fair. If you're shooting for an A take this man. Hes GOAT. I plan to take 55 with him.
If you got an A in 5A and you're willing to put in the work you should get an A in this class. All the test questions come from the textbook, and the final questions came from the tests.
Can't get easier than this.. The freest A one can get. I took his class during summer. It's really not that hard. He makes it easy. If you struggle in this class, then you need to get tutoring asap.If your foundation is strong, you will eat this class for breakfast.
Makes math interesting and does a great job at explaining the intuition behind Calculus techniques. A lot of work because I am taking it during the winter however ALL of the questions on exams come straight from the book. So if you do all of the practice problems, you will have done all exam problems. 10/10 Would take again. Made me like math again
Amazing professor! Really interesting guy and he actually cares about his students. I was worried at the start of the class since statistics is honestly more reading than math, but the class wasn't that difficult.
He is an excellent math professor, and I took his Calculus II in winter. As long as you are attentive and engaged in his lecture, you will eat this course like breakfast! Follow what he teach + do some practices out of the class = Good Grade. Practices are necessary for 5B, don't try to be lazy. There are no shortcut in his class.
Mr. B is a very good professor, and his lectures are engaging and clear. He is very accessible outside of class on Pronto, and he encourages the class to collaborate in the MSC and on Pronto. If you're able to the homework, you should do fine on the test.
He goes through some examples from each section, then expects you to practice every non-similar question from the book. He wasn't horrible but didn't like that your grade depended heavily on his exams, where he is known for taking off petty points. He said he couldn't wait for some of us to fail and drop his class. He is also loud and obnoxious.
Has a great personality and clear cut grading style with online homework and tests. Tests were fair however you do need to prepare in advance for them or else you will be caught off guard. Dropped class due to my own effort but good professor.
Mr. B is an awesome Professor; his lectures are easy to follow and the exams are fair. Math requires a lot of discipline and work so there will be times when you're supposed to know your stuff from previous classes and do the webassign. Awesome Professor.
Mr.B is the goat! Period! He is extremely ethusiastic and taking his summer class was a time of my life. I recommend his class. I just hope he can teach more math classes because I would take him over and over again. Just don't be lazy and you'll pass his class! btw IF YOU'RE A SENSITIVE PERSON OR GETS OFFENDED EASILY, DO NOT SIGN UP!
math rage because he's not teaching diff eqs in the fall
He teaches formulas and does not really incorporate practice problems in order to master the formulas. He does not review the homework either.
He's a funny guy, but terrible at teaching. Only does the work in the guided notes with the class, but doesn't ensure that everyone understands it. Kept mentioning having to teach the kids "in the middle" between the kids who are caught up and the kids who don't get it, so not everyone was accounted for. Didn't make learning stats any easier.
he a real nga. daddy know how to teach
This review is for math55 (Diff eq). The class was easy, just do all the homework as the exams are very similar. Prof. Bermudez is funny, caring, and an overall solid professor. To be honest, lectures can be skipped as long as you have access to the notes from class. He takes attendance though, so do what ya gotta do.
I took Mr. B for 5A and 55, beyond a shadow of a doubt the best professor I've ever had. His class is NOT a free A and you will have to work hard in his class, but if you put in effort and go to his office hours you will be fine. ALL his tests are from the book so DO BOOK PROBLEMS. His lectures are funny and engaging. Can't recommend him enough.
He is very sarcastic and annoying
Nice Professor, 5B in summer is hard. I'm not smart, worked quite hard to get a A. Test every week, please study hard.
Mr B. was very personable and was a fun guy. Like most math classes, it was 90% exams so each one can either raise or ruin your grade. Summer course was very lecture heavy and fast paced. Mr. B is a fair grader and you get to keep your exams after they are taken. Final is composition of previous exams and homework. Overall very fair professor.
2023 Summer Teaching style didn't align with how I understood math so lots of independent learning but that's not his fault. Fast grader (yay) & he's active in class discord. Have to buy online textbook for hw. Not a chill class- no phones, don't doze off (oops sorry), be ready to participate. Loud & really sarcastic, but he cares & will help.
I am not over reacting when I say this, he is the worst professor here at PCC. He will encourage you to ask questions, but when you do they starts throwing a tantrum in class, which is such a common occurrence that it's normal. Don't even bother messaging him questions through pronto(messaging app he makes us download) because he won't even respond
Frank is extremely loud and obnoxious. He acts like a 60 year old man child. His jokes are just as terrible as his teaching. Wether you message him in the middle of the day or at night, during weekends or weekdays, he wont respond.
I can't recommend Mr. B enough. His lectures are always very clear, he's hilarious, and he genuinely cares about his students. He's really good at breaking down and explaining difficult concepts. The tests are made from problems taken out of the book, so if you study you'll do well.
Professor Bermudez is a funny guy and he does want to help BUT I think he does not know how to teach lower divisions of math all that well. His class is EXTREMELY test heavy, he does NOT give extra credit, participation credit or grade notes. his class is 60% tests and 10% homework add the final on top of that it is essentially made up of 90% tests
Mr. B put in the same amount of effort that he expects from his students. PROS: his knowledge of 5B was in depth, he encourages all his students to help each other and form community, and he replaces your lowest exam score with your grade on the final. CONS: no extra credit, 6 exams total, homework only 10%, is a picky grader, class moves quickly.
Strict grader with poor communication skills. Offers no support outside office hours and is unresponsive on weekends, stating he isn't paid to assist students during his time off. This unwillingness to engage outside class makes it difficult to get help or clarification when needed, creating a challenging learning environment.
Professor B is enthusiastic and engaging. The class requires discipline, but with hard work and resources like Unstuck AI, you can succeed. Attend lectures, do the homework, and you'll be golden.
Don't take this professor if you want an easy A. He is extremely helpful during office hours and he'll meet you halfway if you are proactive. Make sure to utilize your classmates and most of the time you will be asking them questions about problems and not so much Mr. B himself. He encourages us to communicate with each other so swallow your pride.
Overall a great professor but he does move really fast. I'm ngl towards the end he covers the easier stuff for notes and even it comes to hw there's no example to follow, kinda left on your own. def work w ur classmates and use msc. he is really test heavy 10%hw 65 exams 25 final.
Very fast paced in the 6-week sessions, meaning HW will pile up if you don't start right away. Lowest exam gets replaced with the final exam score. Most (if not all) exam problems come from the textbook so as long as you take the time to do the exercises AND understand how to do them, you will do great.
unless this is the last bermudez is the last professor available, and you have to take this course, I'd avoid him at all cost. he was a headache in class and on pronto
In my opinion, he didn't make me feel like I could succeed. I dropped and took a different professor and did much better.
Frank's attitude made the class feel like you just already have to know it type of class. I did not feel like I was getting anywhere in the class and just feel more lost and further behind as the class went on. I am currently auditing another professor and honestly feel like I am finally making some progress.
Proffesor B actually cares about his students, he does go a little fast but if you're falling behind, abuse his office hours, they'll get you through the stump that you're in. He's also test heavy so do the work and the math should be fine. if you're wondering why I dropped it's cause I change my major.
Mr. B is a great teacher who clarified many concepts I struggled with in high school. His tests are manageable if you study and practice textbook problems. I highly recommend this course for STEM majors, but if you're not in STEM or taking Math 005A, it may not be necessary.
Great Professor !
This had to be the worst math instructor I have ever had. He was very rude and sarcastic and made fun of students that dropped his class. He got to personal about his life style and was very aloof when asking for help with the class content. He also used swear language.
Avoid this professor. Exams were insanely hard and went beyond what was taught. Tons of homework, no help, and you're expected to self-teach. He mocks late/absent students and even posts your mistakes on Pronto. Students had to rely on each other just to get by. One of the worst class experiences ever. VERY LOUD AND OBNOXIOUS. DO NOT TAKE!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT TAKE!! Tests make up 95% of your grade, homework 10%, and trust there's a lot. You're basically self-teaching, as his lectures are just him rushing through the textbook without much explanation. He constantly raises his voice for no reason and keeps going off-topic. You won't learn much, and the environment isn't supportive. Avoid his class.
I would 100% recommend taking Mr. B(Frank Bermudez). I originally took him for Fall 2024 and I withdrew because I was photomathing all the homework. I tried again Spring 2025 started actually doing HW, participating, and putting effort. Study Groups were formed and I was able to do well on every test. Dont be Lazy.
Mr. B cares very much about his students and puts lots of effort into teaching. He makes sure to be prepared before class time to ensure his lectures are as informative and as helpful as possible. Although calculus is no easy subject, Mr. B made it easy to understand. If you care, you will do well. He also drops your lowest test grade at the end.
Mr. B made Calculus 3 less intimidating than I was expecting it to be. His lectures were very clear and concise, he took examples from the book and homework. Tests are based on his homework, although its worth 10% of your grade you will struggle if you don't make the time to complete it. He is an understanding grader and helps during office hours.
Mr. B demonstrates a lot of effort when teaching Mathematics as seen through his lectures. He uses notes from the textbook and makes sure his lectures align with the teaching expected from the homework. As per the test, I believe they were pretty straightforward and similar to textbook problems.
I've taken both Calc 5b&c with prof b. His lectures are well-organized, and they prepare u for the hw and exams. Most of your grade comes from tests, but they're based on problems from the textbook, so if you put in the effort and study, you'll be fine. His office hours are open if you need outside help or you can form study groups with classmates.
Mr. B is a very good professor! His class is very straight forward. Homework is 10%, tests are 65% and your final is 25%. Don't procrastinate, come to office hours if you have questions, he will always be there. If you have any questions outside of class and office hours, he is on Pronto so you can ask him there. 10/10 would take again!
His grading focuses on tests mainly, but if you do all your homework and study before the tests you should do fine. He is always available in office hours and is willing to help anyone who has a problem. Very friendly and a somewhat lenient grader on the tests. The math can be confusing, but that is because it is calculus, it is for everyone.
Mr.B is a cool guy overall. If he yells or "gets angry" it's because he actually cares about his students and wants them to succeed. This semester was his first time teaching 5C and he spent so much time and effort making the lessons and quizzes for us. It's not an easy A, but if you put in the time and effort his classes aren't difficult.
For the first time in my life, I'm understanding algebra! Mr. B explains concepts clearly and gives fair partial credit on exams. I had started very poorly with a D, but thanks to his help and my effort, I'm on track for an A. Just know, you need to put in the work too. If you're not passing, it's not on him. I would take him again if I could!
although 5B is a difficult subject, mr b taught the material well during winter, even with the tight scheduling. although tests are challenging, the final isn't that bad. for tests, just practice and practice homework problems on cengage and the book.
This class need you to practice and study, he is a good professor, you can learn a lot, but it is also manageable and he is not pity on giving A's. The best thing is that he will replace your lowest exam with your final.
Took Mr.B for 5B and C. One of the best professor's I've had. Don't expect free A's. Expect well organized, insightful, and never boring lectures that are the basis for tests and hw coming from a professor who genuinely cares for his students success. If your a student who is willing to work for your grade, its a no brainer choice.
Mr. B is a great professor. The homework is only worth 15% of your grade and there's a lot of it, but if you do the homework you'll be prepared for the test. He also replaces the lowest test score with the final, you if you did poorly on a chapter test it's not the end of the world. As long as you put in a good amount of work you'll be fine.
This was Mr. B's first time teaching calc 3 and he made sure he read every chapter and completed every homework assignment in his own free time to ensure that we were properly taught the material. I also took Mr. B for calc 2, as well as algebra years ago. If you do poorly in any of his classes, it was nobodies fault but your own, respectfully.
Professor Bermudez really cares about you and many of his students come back to tell him how they're doing. In terms of teaching, it's very lecture heavy but only because he wants to make sure you actually learn the material. As long as you studied and did the homework, tests should be fairly easy. I've also taken him for 5B and he was just awesome
I've had his 5B and 5C class. He engages with the class and will answer any question. 1-2 hours of hw/section; 5 tests/class, of which I've failed 2/class (50/60s), but ended with a final grade of mid B's due to his final exam policy. He cares in his own weird way but I've never felt stupid for failing my tests. Not an easy A but can be achieved.
I had a very bad experience with this professor. I have never had problems in class, but Prof. B was extremely mean to me and a few other students. This is not to be confused with his tough guy demeanor. He was overly rude and made comments calling out specific students for absolutely no reason. He gets a 2 because he knows the content he teaches.
Mr. B's class isn't easy for me, but I surely have a fun time learning in his class. He's style of teaching is humorous and he gives out clear explanation to any questions being asked. He does provides hints and study guild for exams. The connection he build with us were pretty amazing, I like this dude.
Mr. B teaches really well + is funny and sarcastic, but he def has a heart for all of his students – he memorized everyone's names within a month, and clearly enjoys teaching. He's pretty fair w/ grading cuz he gives lenient partial credit. I had a B the entire sem but I studied hard and asked him Qs in office hrs, and the final boosted me to an A!
His class is more test heavy (tests are worth more and that's fair especially from a math class) so study and work hard! He's very caring towards his students and wants the best for them, so he will be strict here and there.
he is the goat
Professor Bermudez is great! His lectures are helpful, and you can also get additional support during the office hours.
Mr B is a goated professor and I would highly reccomend taking him. He is funny and explains things well. You will do poorly if you don't pay attention but if you listen well and do homework easy B/A.
This professor was amazing. His lectures good nice and clear, and was entertaining as well. While this is a hard course he makes sure you understand it and gives the necessary homework and assignments to complete. I would definitely take another class with this teacher if I could.
I took Mr. B over the summer and he was amazing. He's super funny and you can tell that he really cares about his students. If you have any questions about content, he will always try to answer them, even outside of class. Exams were also very similar to his practice exams. Put in the effort, and you'll do fine.
Very chill teacher and genuinely a very smart guy. Hilarious dude and cares a lot about you passing. You do have to put in the work to pass his class however.
Great professor
Great professor that helps reinforce math concepts you will need to be good at. Very nice and willing to explain and try to understand questions you might have. If you put in effort you will do well.
Calc 2 is a very hard course but professor B makes it easy to comprehend. He's always willing to chat about math and help students really understand the fundamentals behind it. He's a fair grader and makes it clear what material will be on exams.
He is a good professor, if you really understand the homework and notes from him, you can get a good grade. I didn't get an A because I took summer section, I put almost all the time in the math, but I really enjoy it. His test is not easy, but it is acceptable. Study notes, homework, and do a little bit practices you can get an easy A.
Way too easy, if you do his homework, you will ace the class for sure. Final was the easiest out of all, all fundamental problems, no hard questions at all. Outside of class, he's caring and gets along with his students.
The types of questions on the tests came from homework or class notes, so show up to class, do the homework, ask the professor or other students questions if you get stuck, and you'll be fine. He's very accessible on Pronto (messaging app) and grades pretty fast. Lectures sprinkled with jokes and goes a bit fast, but he takes questions.
Mr B is an excellent professor who dedicates a ton of his time to helping his students succeed! He is very accessible outside of class and gives a lot of energy into his lectures as well as trying other auxiliary methods to help students understand the material. Will be taking his class again and would recommend anyone serious about mathematics!
Mr B is a phenomenal teacher, I absolutely love his lectures, class is a bit test heavy and slightly difficult, but I promise if you pay attention in class and actually do the homework you will learn so much, and it will carry on into future classes. Mr B is by far the best teacher I've ever had, can't wait to take him for 5b. Highly recommend.
DONT TAKE HIM. He says he's passionate ab math but rly is just loud and obnoxious. He puts down student/classes in pronto gc. Don't have an emergency on exam day cuz he doesn't care. Acts like his class is the only class ur taking. Encourages questions then humiliates students for asking. Clearly not open to criticism shown by his RMP responses.
Great prof., would take again. Does great lectures & is open to all comments + goes back to clarify various problems. The mandatory SI that this class requires is extremely helpful, going over lecture questions / upcoming exam/quiz topics. Grades extremely fairly + gives partial credit on quizzes. HW is also light, being usually 2 a week.
Very good. He gives a strong Navy vibe and was in the service for a while. Highly recommended for students who need someone to clearly explain exactly what to do. He dislikes when people are late and focuses on developing a work ethic rather than a more cerebral approach. Good fit for the many people who need that development. Ironically, lenient.
Before taking Mr. B, my math skills were abysmal. Mr. B changed that, all you have to do is listen and COMPLETE ALL THE HOMEWORKS! Mr. B is absolutely one of the best professors to learn math from, any level of math. If you want to walk away from a math class feeling like you know how to do math then take Mr. B!
