If you want to learn about the life of a newyorker, or the Itilan mafia, then this is the class for you. Test are easy, but the class is really boring. He also goes over the time limit almost every class. tests are based on the homework. Goes over the homework in class but does get side track very easily. does offer extra credit, only nerd could do
Wow does this guy ramble on or what. Never learned anything during the lecture. He goes on too fast as if you know what the hell you're doing already. AVOID.
He is a wonderful teacher and he makes sure everyone is understanding what's going on in class.
Terrible teacher. He got side tracked very easily, and would not answer students questions fully. He also did not go by the book and skipped around from chapter to chapter within a lesson. Very confusing, and very hard, I would not recommend this class to anyone who has a hard time with math.
He's a rambler of irrelevant topics. Loves to stress attendance, over and over again. Talks very fast as though everything he's saying is perfectly clear. When you ask a question, he explains quickly, again as though it's obvious. Unless you have a grasp of PreCalc already, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Pr. Binghi is a an awesome teacher. Even though the work was a little hard, he was very helpful to those who showed effort. Did not take homework up, attendance was not part of grade, but it was smart to do both for grade. A bunch of extra credit is given, and exams has base points for easier A. Exemption of final is for those who meet standards.
Very easily side-tracked. If you are the type who learns math step by step...avoid taking him. On the positive side, he is very helpful if you visit his office.
Very hard to follow. Has a tendency to make you feel stupid because he repeatedly insists this is just arithmetic and you should know that already. He does not work out problems step by step. I learn more from the text book than from him. Do not take if you are not comfortable learning on your own. Very preachy about life management skills.
Frank is a good teacher. he knows ALL of his 'stuff'. he has little tips and pneumonics that really help out. He was friendly and cracks jokes and gets side tracked. i hated the quizzes so much but his tests have lots of extra credit. doesn't take up homework and is very organized. take this class if you want to understand what your doing
The attendance policy was ridiculous. I got over 100's on all my tests and still wasnt exempt from the final due to some absences. I hated going to class because I didnt learn anything, all he did was ramble on about nonsense. . When I was absent he had to know exactly why I wasnt there. On the other hand he was nice and liked the office hours
Great professor! Should have a happy face next to his name! At first, I was pretty nervous from the ratings he recieved but this professor is nice and down to Earth. Everything is easy as long as you do the homework. He is willing to work with you if you're having a hard time. He's a great math teacher. He can get sidetracked but he means well.
Mr. Binghi is friendly and jokes around, HOWEVER, this does NOT make him a good teacher. If you can't learn from the book, don't take him! He skips steps when explaining concepts and says, "You should already know that." He will berate you if you don't know something. Does offer help outside class though. He is an attendance Nazi too.
Had him for precal. Do not take him unless you are great in math. I thought I was decent in math, but he teaches nothing but concepts and he doesn't allow calculators. He talks really fast sometimes & doesn't work things out step by step. Homework not attendance is mandatory, which is both good and bad. (the extra grades would've helped me out)
Binghi is a wonderful person but his teaching skills are questionable. His lectures are planned only in his mind and he speaks math. I would have liked to see him work things out step by step and actually show examples on the board. He talks the whol class period. His tests are based on homework. He's not that great.
Binghi is an alright teacher, if you already know everything you're learning. Skips steps, refers to math as "a mathematical problem from GRADE 3" actually uses all grammer school grades. It's insulting to those who don't understand the subject. Easy course if you know what you're doing, no calculators until the end. Talks to much about himself
Really, really boring but very, very easy. Take this class if you have had pre cal or clac before, but only if you understood it the first time around. He tends to be very confusing, but it's such a simple class it doesn't matter. He offers so much extra credit. Attendance is mandatory to be exempted from the final.
Great person, he will do anything for you, and is mindful of personal matters in your life, his teaching skills however are hard to attain to. you have to be good at math to understand him, lets just say, he is brilliant, but has trouble conveying it to students who need alot of help!!!
He knows everything there is to know about math but seems to skip alot of steps, he talks about many diff things during class, i think he forgets that he needs to teach and not try to remind ppl how to learn math. but overall hes a nice guy and very understanding otherwise.
The man is a charecature of a human. I swear that he should be teaching American Film with emphasis on The Godfather and not mathematics. The textbook is horrible. I don't think that he has looked at the homework he hands out because if he did then he would teach it.
He's a great professor, i extremely encourage students to take him during all their mathematical years if possible, i wish i could take him again for calculus I and calculus II, and III. he could be a little hard for those who don't understand math. but he offers a lot of extra credit. GREAT PROFESSOR
He doesn't really teach. He puts problems in front of you, shows you how easy it was for him to solve, and continues to say that if it takes you longer than 5 seconds to solve it you are stupid. He likes to talk about his grand-children and bust out with proverbs in different languages. Seriously, only take him if you have taken the class before.
I took Binghi because I was recommended by a friend. Attendance in mandatory, homework is not. I probably wouldn't take the class again, I took pre-calculus in high school and even I struggled in this class. He's great with help outside the classroom and goes over the upcoming tests pretty well through emails.
Great for average to low math skill levels and enjoyably easy for the smarter ones
He was great. Very organized, and made sure students knew exactly when things were happening with the calendar he gave to each of us. Tests are easy if you do the implicit versions of them which he emails to you. He made a potentially hard subject very very easy to understand.
If you want to know how this guy is, read the post on 11/6. Whoever wrote that described his class perfectly. He sends everyone emails everyday that say things like: 4.73 sec. ref. 22 nos. 22-113. pt. 42. ex 11.3 ect. Whatever the hell that means.
He's extremely organized and wants everyone to succeed, which is good, but he doesn't teach well in my opinion. if you are a visual learner then i suggest taking this subject with a different professor. but if you're an auditory learner, then go for it!
Binghi is HILARIOUS! i will always remember his phrases: "Think groups..arithmetic problem of grade 2... in the calculus you will encounter..."how he goes off on tangents about his long lost sicilian family. oh and by the way LOL at some of these comments. especially the one where he says he busts out in proverbs in different languages. so true.
Good teacher, "just forget about it" and take his class.
Coming from someone that enjoys math and have taken precalc in high school. Found class to be easy as long as you attend class and do the assigments. However, he may be at times confusing for someone who may find math difficult. He is hilarious, class was like attending a comedy act. Enjoyed the class.
Said attendance wasn't mandatory, yet passed around an attendance sheet each class. Didn't find his lectures helpful at all and he often rambled. Class could have been taught in half the time.
first off... i do not like math at all. but, he breaks the material into small bits that are easy to remember. get's off topic too much -class could be taught in 1/2 time. if you do the homeworks (not mandatory) and study then you'll have an A.
great guy. willing to help, and does everything in his power to help you pass. he offers ways for you to raise your grade on an individual basis. if you show commitment, effort and improvement, he'll offer to drop your lowest test grade. on a teaching level though, he's not the best, but in the end if you do you work and go to class you'll be fine.
Dr.Binghi is an amazing professor...he is an old italian guy who knows his material very well which makes me feel stupid at some moments, I loved his italian accent...He does everything in his power and gives you alot of offers to raise your grade and pass his class. he sends you a test review prior to every test which helps alot. VERY ORGANIZED
Great Professor. He assigns easy homework assignments. If you do the homework and rework the problems you get wrong, you will have no problem on his tests. He offers extra credit in class and offers extra homework problems as extra credit. It's possible to earn over 100 extra points in this class. Great guy, funny, and cares. Take him! :)
All he does is ramble on and on about things that do not pertain to the subject.. I was a math major until I took this class, I had to drop it because it was so hard for me. If you can do the study guides though you will pass they are basically the same thing as the test just different numbers. If you stuggle in math DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
he wasnt very helpful to me at all. he mainly spent he's time trying to make me look stupid when i asked a question. sometimes he can be very unclear. :/
All he does, is talks about his family and makes you look stupid when you ask a question. He doesn't teach, so expect to teach yourself if you want to pass. He is unclear when it comes to explaining questions. DO NOT TAKE!!!
Great professor. He gives plenty of course materials for preparation. He also gives you so many chances to raise your grade. Extra credit chances every day. His drawbacks are that he uses every minute of class time, and he wastes a lot of time talking about his personal life and teaching us life lessons. Good teaching, easy class, take him.
Binghi is a great guy and means well but he's just not a good teacher, spends the majority of class talking about his person life. I didnt learn anything from the guy and had to do all the learning by myself. Gives you plenty of chances to improve your grade through extra credit as well.
Great guy. He cares for his students. But unless you want to learn, don't bother taking his class. Slackers are quickly weeded out in the first week. Gives a generous amount of Extra Cred -STS
Professor Binghi gives a lot of opportunities to increase your grade through extra credit. Also, the homework is an explicit sample of the quizs and tests so studying is more focused.
He is a horrible teacher, if you didn't know precalc before the class don't take him. Out of 30 students 10 were left by the end of the semester, out of those 10 all took precalc in high school. His idea of helping you is giving you the problem worked out, and he teaches you by reading his notes.
He is a really sweet guy and means well but he does a horrible job at going over the homework assignments and assisting students who need help in class. He does not do a good job of breaking down problems and explaining steps. If math is one of your weakest subjects, I would not suggest taking his class.
I have not received any pre-calc classes before his and i got over 100+ on every test he gave out. Yea, he gives out alot of extra credit. the thing is, you have to actually do work, if you complete the hw and pay attention in class then you are guaranteed an A. I was never bored even though he taught math, overall, he is an amazing teacher.
I would not recommend taking him if you haven't had any pre-calculus history. He doesn't not explain things and wont stop his lecture to help you. I took Calculus in high school and had no problem passing. I never got anything below a 98 on a test. He gives out more extra credit then you know what to do with.
Great guy, has a voice that sounds like the actor James Woods. He cares about his students, but You have to show an interest in the class and attend to make him care. He also gives extra credit which is good.
Frank teaches the toughest but he tests to the average. Yes it helps to have precalc prior to him, but its not needed. he also introduces you to calculus so when you get there, youll understand whats going on.if you cant't handle frank's precalc, don't even think about taking calculus
Great teacher, goes off on tangents like most teachers, but his tests and quizes are wicked easy, soemtimes he give sample tests which are exactly like the regular tests and a lot of extra credit.
He is really good professor. You have to study for his class and you have to keep up with him, try to understand the way he teaches. Do his extra credit, attend every class. Overall he is very cool guy and fun to be on his class, he makes jokes with everyone in class be prepared.
Only take him if you are good at teaching yourself math. I got an A but spent countless hours in ACE getting tutored.
I HIGHLY recommend Binghi for precalc. He's hilarious, but he will make sure you learn your stuff. If you do the homework every day (it isn't that hard and you DON'T have to turn it in), you will be fine and will know what will be on his test. Anything you turn in is for extra credit. Binghi is awesome, and really cool.
Honestly, I listened to headphones in his class because if I listened to him, I would get confused even more. I went to ACE specifically for his class. In the end, I got an A- so I would suggest going to ACE and getting high A's on his exams to get exempt from the final. DO NOT do his homework and waste your time. Do the extra credit!
He is very unclear when teaching and the fact that he only teaches at 8am makes it that much worse. If you are already good at math you should be ok but if math isn't your best subject take somebody else.
Take this class. He's a super good teacher and gives extra credit! You don't need to buy access codes (thank the lord) and he gives study guides for his tests. Even if you aren't good at math do the extra credit, he gives opportunities every class and on most tests. I got an A, and really thought he was a great teacher
If you already mastered calculus and would like to hear this man make fun of confused students and talk about his cat, take him for Precalc. I never missed class, talked to him many times, and have never encountered a teacher more unhelpful and unwilling to actually teach.
Infinity extra credit which helped me out
Never take him. He's awful!!!!!! Yeah he gives extra credit but he expects you to just KNOW how to do PreCalc even though its the first step to a lot of other math class. He explains it once then expects you to just get it. STAY AWAY
He thinks you already know the information being taught, so if you don't be prepared to get lost super quickly. I get tutored in the library and thats the only reason I know I'm gonna pass this class with an A or B. Great class if you already know most of the information, but for someone taking it for the first time, it will be difficult.
This class with this teacher was one of the worst classes that I have ever taken at UNF. Beware, students, during class, he freely told the class that UNF can not fire him because he has been there so long. Very unfair and sarcastic during class, but was caring outside of the class. Not a very good teacher at all.
If you are not a strong math student/need a lot of clear instruction, DO NOT TAKE BINGHI. If you are capable of teaching yourself pre-calc, take him. He gives SO MUCH extra credit and essentially tells you the exact problems that are on the tests (6 of them). He's borderline insane, but a nice guy.
I was skeptical about taking him from reading the reviews but I am so glad I did! He is a wonderful teacher and gives an insane amount of extra credit. He also really cares about his students grades. You can even exempt he final exam. I am not good at math at all but ended with an A! His teaching style is definitely different though.
Binghi is a nice man outside of class, but in class he does not teach. He gives you all of the notes and practice problems but does not do any practice problems in class. So if you do not have a strong base in math, he is not the professor to teach because you will basically have to teach yourself everything in class.
Spunky guy, cheerful & somewhat sarcastic personality. He gave "test objectives" which were SAME questions on test. Extra credit was insanely much. Lectures got harder to follow, tho; calcChat was more helpful. I suggest getting tutor. He can be a bit extra sometimes. Figure out homework and test objectives pass. Calc is a tough subject, though.
He is the worst math professor.
he is the worse teacher I have ever encountered. He doesnt explains things well and expects you to know how to do everything. He will berate you in class for not understanding or needing help. If you don't have a strong understand of math or it has been a while DON'T TAKE HIM! Even with tutoring I struggled.
His class is a hard class if you don't pay attention. But he gives MANY resources, like study guides, sample test, an activity schedule the day before class, he is understanding, he does give homework but doesn't collect it. He knows what he is talking about!
Frank is a great guy and a hilarious professor! His classes are so easy he gives you so much extra credit!
He is terrible. He only hands out the papers and does not now how to teach. He expects you to just know Math. He keeps on saying the problems are "Kindergarten" problems and just goes through it without any explanation. He does not even write problems on board and just talks about the question via paper. DONT TAKE HIM.
Frank Binghi is an angel of a man. He goes above and beyond than what any other teacher ever would. He provides ENDLESS material and supplementary items that he creates himself, and his level of organization is immaculate. Math in itself is difficult for me, but it's almost impossible to fail this man's class unless you literally don't care to try
He's an absolute loon, always spewing metaphors and anecdotal stories at his class. Beware, he says that he does NOT teach math to students. He said that Figures never lie and Liars never figure, so that is why Averages don't matter. One class, he took out the Preamble and was so off-topic that I wondered if I was sitting in my bf's history class.
Super nice and very helpful. Email you back within hours, less then 24 hours. Will also stay after class to help you, even admits to his own mistakes.
Binghi was awesome! A lot of the comments are true though that his teaching style is not very effective. I would go through the reviews and sample test the night before for an hour or so and teach myself the chapter and do just fine on the tests. He makes class fun with his stupid humor that gets you going for an 8am class. Offers lots of help too!
Do not take this class. He is extremely rude to his student and doesn't do a very good job at teaching. He does give out study guides which are helpful but he does not use canvas so you never know your grade all semester which is stressful.
Tests are your only grade, but he gives SO much extra credit (like high of a 130% on tests) so it is very hard to fail the class. He is a hilarious guy that makes waking up at 7am for class worth it. I had to teach myself through this course but if you have a good standing in math you'll do good. Wouldn't reccommend if you're not the best at math.
Amazing professor! tests are his only grades, but he gives extra credit and he gives you a practice test and its so similar to the test. He cares a lot about students and he is so understanding. Im not good at math and although his lectures are hard to keep up with I got an A+ because of his practice tests and extra credit. TAKE HIM for Pre calc!
Not sure why this guy was rated so low. He's a solid teacher, cares greatly about students passing his class, and entertains you with stories Things to know: - Tests are the majority of your grade (He gives sample tests that are very similar to the real test) - No homework unless you want to - Is flexible with situations (car broke down, etc.) -
I dont know why hes graded so low because he does everything in his power to help you pass. He provides a practice test with an answer key before each test which is basically the same test with different numbers. He gives out plenty of extra credit on tests and will tell you what they will be. Homework is optional. Great teacher.
I am in his precalculus class for this semester. I will say that he provides supplemental problems/practice tests. But, he cannot teach. He is less then understanding and expects you to already know what you are doing. He explains himself via metaphors and confusing statements. Not the teacher for those who are mathematically challenged. I am lost.
one of the best guys. had a really hard time following his lectures in class. provides extra credit and a study guide that matches the test.
Does not explain equations well. Speeds through and expects you to understand. If you dont then he will do the same thing again and get frustrated. He tells you to email with questions then just refers you to the questions on the study guide with no explanation. No longer doing study guides because he does not want to sit at his computer after work
He was a good person, very kind and understanding. However he's not for everyone, and If I could go back in time and tell myself not to take his class I would do it in a heartbeat. I did like a few things about his class, but the bad overshadowed the good. I highly suggest you take someone else.
Frank is Awesome, the homework he assigns is not required, he sometimes gives out extra credit in class if you can answer a difficult problem, very nice guy. Your grade is based off only tests but he also gives extra credit on the tests so its up to you to study. If you study before the tests you'll pass.
This is one of the only professors who cares about efficiently teaching you the material and helping you pass in any way possible. The amount of extra credit and grade scaling changes he does in benefit for his students is insane. The negative reviews have to be lying or something because I'm terrible at math, but I managed to pass with an A-
Professor Binghi was an amazing professor. He took the time to understand who he was teaching and adjusted his methods/lectures accordingly. You have plenty of resources like calcChat, special problems, study guides, and opportunities to ask questions. The environment he creates in the classroom makes it easy to feel welcome and not stressed.
Rest in peace
