He is a very understanding person. He is very flexible with students' schedule. He keeps things simple despite everything is on powerpoints which I don't have access to it on my home computers. I would recommend any students to take him. His lecture notes are clear so study them well.
hes so cool and understanding!! he totally works around the students schedule and he gives lost of extra credit.he also drops the lowest grade.its impossible for you to fail his tests. and he aint bad to look at either ;) hes so laid back and chill. he lets you out earlier too if the class looks like theyre sleeping..lol.totally cool!
He's a really great guy, very natural andcomfortable in front of the class and makes it a pleasant experiene to be there.
Very good man, who will go out his way to help you. Take his courses
Frank is kind, helpful, understanding and flexible with deadlines. I like him, but the way he teaches pgeog 335 can be frustrating. He uses oceanography terms like we already know what they are, he explains concepts in equation form tho its not needed 4 class, and will go off on tangents for minutes & minutes if someone asks an off topic question
I love him. Intelligent, HOT, and a pleasure to speak to.
Love him, the best professor!!
He's young, so he knows the importance of making the work load easier. For a subject like this, thankfully, he is extremely fair. I can't think of anyone better to take for a non-lab sci course.
awesome professor! makes the class interesting and is completely fair. gives plenty of chances to get a good grade.
Awesome professor
Great professor that does everything he can to give you a good grade if you try. Gives many opportunities for extra credit, just show up for class and you won't be lost on the tests.
Nice professor. Made it clear there would be no discussion of dolphins! Really converses with the class, up to you to respond. Tests are multiple choice/truefalse. Yes, in-class extra credit. Aspects of physical, chemical, structural oceans etc. = new stuff for me. He's married, get off his back lol.
you cannot lose with this professor. He's super nice, good looking, fair, fun and makes a hard subject extremely easy. Just show up for class and you'll have no problem.
He's such a fair grader. He gives lots of extra credit so even if your not doing so well you can still get at worst, a C. He's really nice and understands that not everyone wants to take his class so he makes it easy.
AN AMAZING PROFESSOR!!!!!ONE OF THE VERY BEST AT HUNTER COLLEGE AND WE NEED MORE LIKE HIM, PLUS, HES VERY GOOD LOOKING AND YOUNG:) BUT UNFORTUNATELY MARRIED WITH kIDS. HOWEVER, I ENJOYED HIS CLASS IMMENSELY, DEF ONE OF THE BEST.
why this man is so nice i dont know. he drops the lowest test grade, gives lots of extra credits, explains things clearly, and helps you to the best of his ability. great professor!
wonderful professor !! he knows his stuff, and lectures it well. he spends more time on subjects we dont understand. drops lowest grade, and give lots of extra credit. great sense of humor as well. loved him!!
He takes a rather difficult subject and makes it fun, easy and interesting. He's extremely helpful, his tests are easy, he gives out all kinds of extra credit and he's easy on the eyes! You will love him!
HE IS THE BEST... AND HES SOOO CUTE!=) but really nice also... he will help you, and his tests are easy. the best ever!!!
Don't go to class it is sooooo boring and un-necessary. The key to an A is to go to lab and then just do the review questions he puts online. I learned nothing, it's just memorizing answers. Don't take this if you are bad at memorization.
Great professor..but you have to do the work if you plan on getting a good grade. Not hard and he is very interesting.
HOT and sweet. He's a surfer, and his body shows it! :P He's ALSO a great teacher, very interesting and his tests are very fair. U just had to memorize everything. Always willing to help if ure confused and just seems like an overall very chill guy. TAKE HIM! TRUST ME!
Frank is a supper great teacher, on eof the best I ever have in Hunter. He's fair to everybody and willing to help. So knowlageable and funny! Class is easy if you show up and follow up with his lecture. Easy A if you memorize the review questions.
He's amazing! Young and energetic. Very smart and helpful. 80% of the questions on the test are straight off of the review sheet he gives (with answers if the attendance is good)! Posts all of the lectures online for you to print out. Tries to make the class interesting and jokes a lot. And yes, he's smokin' HOT! TAKE HIM!
VERY nice professor, energic, always with his special words"let's talk little bit about...". taking his class is fun, easy to get high grade.since all the lectures powerpoin and review questions are put on website.actually 90 percent of the questions on the three exams are exactly the same from there. attendance is up to u
He is the nicest guy. Will make everything for you to understand the material. Got everything posted in the Geo. dep. so you can check back at any lecture and review questions.I did study, I do love the material, but it was easy to comprehend everything even if you are not interested in the theme.
Very entertaining teacher, makes a boring subject pretty interesting. The class is easy if you just use all the stuff he gives you via the DoG website. Friendly, eager to help, doesn't take himself too seriously, a great prof for an intro course
Is this guy cool or what? What little interest I had about weather before the course increased tenfold after finishing. He's interested in students THINKING about the material, so give it your all: he does. The text is excellent. So excellent, in fact, that studying was a breeze (seriously). No sleeper, this class.
great professor just be sure to study the material and you'll do fine.
Yea, he's pretty cool and knows the subject matter inside out. Learned a lot and attended class even though attendance isn't mandatory. One of the best professors I've had yet, although most of the geology profs are top-notch anyway. He has sipped a bit from the cool-aide bowl regarding 'global warning' but most of us know it's fiction anyway.
One of the best professors. Extremely knowledgeable in science and cares to explain even the darkest & most detailed parts of science. Encourages students, engages everyone in the huge class of over 100. Takes time to review even outside of class. Responds to emails and has a great deal of scientific experience & encouraged me to major in Bioche
he is awesomeee =)willing to teach & explain. a lot of things to memorize but not hard. easyy A! he is funny, very easy to get alone with. TAKE HIM ! =)
Good Professor, fun guy, great humor, easy class lectures are all online you'll have fun learning about water and sand trust me.
Although a nice person, Mr. Buonaiuto is generally indifferent of his students' needs, boring, gives hard exams, and is completely unreliable when it comes to answering emails. Overall, I would not recommend this professor.
BEST PROFESSOR OUT THERE. I HONESTLY BARELY ATTEND I JUST READ THROUGH HIS SLIDES AND THE CHAPTERS AND I BREEZE THROUGH THE TEST. WHEN I DO GO TO CLASS HE MAKES THE LECTURE CLEAR AND ALSO FUN. HE IS HONESTLY THE KINDEST GUY OUT THERE. THERE ARE 4 EXAMS, DROPS THE LOWEST GRADE AND EACH EXAM CONSIST OF ONLY 3 CHAPTERS. THE FINAL IS ONLY OF 2.
Funny, nice, smart professor but tests are hard--you must study for them. topic can get boring but he knows his stuff. good class
Great Professor! Though his lectures can get boring he does try to make it fun and interesting. Really nice person in general. If you go to his office hours, he really try his best to help you understand and answer questions. Test are kind of hard but might drop the lowest grade based on attendance, which is not mandatory.
he great. so kind. goes out of his way to make sure students pass. uses curves and drops lowest grade. tells you all you need to study fo test. you must study the slides he gives to pass the exams. they are tricky but if you study youll do great. TAKEEE HIMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!! you wont regret it.
its an easy A if you know the material or took Weather and Climate. Don't have to come to class, just read the slides and teach it to your self. 4 mc exams. he's cool, gives 3 extra credits. and he's hot
Take. This. Class. He is helpful, hilarious, and knows his stuff. Topics aren't that hard if you just review the material. It's hard to just find great professors, and he is a GREAT professor. Plus he's a surfer so he'll tell awesome stories about his "field work". Take this class. You will not regret it.
Not a hard class if you pay attention to his lectures (which can get a little boring at times), and read the text to fill in the info. He is a funny and awesome surfer guy, and cracks jokes. His tests aren't super easy, but they aren't super hard either. Just study and it'll be all good. good stuff :)
Very nice Prof. he cares about his students and is very clear. slides are posted prior to lesson, so print and take notes. Tests are not cumulative and he drops lowest score. gives opportunities for simple extra credits. can get boring but he shares surfing stories. He is also very easy on the eyes!
OMG the hottest professor at Hunter.. I came to class just to watch him teach..anyways great class, just study the slides and you pass
Beaches and Coasts was a somewhat challenging course, yet very informative, interesting and different than any other course I've taken before. Prof answered any questions asked in class very thoroughly. Work and tests grades were never returned and emails rarely responded to. Very fun and relatable Prof. who is easy to get along with.
Boring. Take Weather and Climate before this class, if you must.
nice and easy.
Love him! He is extremely intelligent and he makes the class fun and interesting. It is a typical science class with tests and terminology, but he does not give any work other than the tests and he made class interesting. Highly recommend!
Very Nice. Got an A and I know nothing about oceanography. No HW or attendance. 4 exams with questions from old exams/powerpoints. If you want to learn something, avoid. If you need the credits/GRE, take. You won't be doing much for this class.
I had no interest going in to the class, he made Oceanography so interesting that I am switching my major to Science. He is funny, helpful, and laid back.
So currently I am in this class and let me just tell you that he is very unorganized. We were supposed to have our exam 3 on Nov 20th and now today, Dece 6th he has finally posted up the actual exam. Furthermore, he add about 20 more questions and the whole exam is changed meaning the practice exam 3 we all took to prepare ourselves for is useless.
he loves the beach and brag about his fieldwork lol! hes great tho! funny super laid back and very flexible. he did switch his due dates and took long time to post the exam but he gives a week to do so and it was because of hurricane sandy. he drops lowest grade out of 4 exams. barely takes attendance just wants 70% class to be present!
ive heard from other students that this class WAS easy but it definitely is NOT anymore. the practice exams are less thn 50% of what the actual exam is and you really have to know your oceans to get bove a B. It could have been worse but, overall, this was pretty bad.
A very laid back and cool professor. The tests were take-home, but very hard.
Frank is a great guy, super fun, but his class wasn't easy. The content is difficult, and his exams are confusing. The only reason I passed is because he curved the grades. Wouldn't recommend taking again, I barely got by.
I would recommend this class for a GER requirement because it is easier than the other sciences offered at Hunter but be prepared to go over the slides yourself. He's not organized and gets easily distracted. 3 in class exams plus a curve. You don't need the textbook, he posts his slides on his website.
Before taking this class I was dreading it since I'm not into science, but I actually thought this class was very interesting and helpful! He is a very laid back and fun professor, and knows a lot. Attendance not mandatory, 2 tests + 1 final. Multiple choice 50q's each. Review powerpoints (which he posts) and buy txtbook (cheap on amazon) it helps
Take this professor! There are 2 midterms and 1 cumulative final, and exams reflect the review sheet he gives out. Study those questions and you'll ace the exams.
Frank is honestly such a fantastic teacher! He is so funny helpful and makes lectures great. 2 midterms 1 final, other than that no other work. He gives review sheets which help TREMENDOUSLY or you can really study the textbook. I totally recommend taking him. If you make the most of it, it really is an awesome class.
Extremely laid back and easy going. He is very funny and makes lectures fun and not boring to sit through. He answers every question that students have in great detail. Tests are exactly the same as the review sheet. He offered extra credit at the end of the semester. He passes out attendance sheets in the lecture hall when attendance is low.
Very easy professor. If you have to take this as an introductory course for geology or just as a science credit, it is totally worth it. 2 midterms, 1 final and questions are exactly like the review sheet. He is very easy to understand and you are able to take away so much! Highly recommended!
Honestly, the class is really boring. Unless you thoroughly enjoy weather and climate you're going to be sleeping through it. The exams are pretty easy because 85% of it is from the review sheet, so if you memorize the answers from that, it's an easy pass.
Prof. Frank is perfect. Hurricanes , blizzards , almost everything is fun in this class!
This class was awesome . I don't know why people complain about it. If you are not into wether it might be boring to you. However, prof. frank brings joy to it. This man's enthusiasm is inspiring.
I wish he taught another subject because I would take ALLLL of his classes (im not a weather major :( ) AMAZING PROFESSOR ALL ANSWERS ON REVIEW SHEET
frank is a great man, he should be president.
check the buoys & navy models!! he rly loves doing that and so should u !! BE PRESIDENT
great professor, is really chill and cool
Weather and Climate can be very boring, he makes this course fun and entertaining. Just study all the review papers before the exam and you will ace it! He gave us a chance to earn extra credit through Instagram which was pretty cool. He is funny and I enjoyed his lectures and stories!
He is an AMAZING professor!!! TAKE HIM, YOU WILL PASS BC HE MAKES EVERYTHING EASIER FOR YOU. He is funny and so passionate in what he teaches. Nothing more I can say honestly, just an amazing professor.
Frank is one of the best and most caring professors I have ever taken. He gives review sheets for each test that are almost exactly like the tests and his assignments are pretty simple. He's also really funny and easy to talk to. Take him he's the best in his department!!!
Great prof, just make sure you show up for the review most of the same questions are on the exam.
I took Oceanography 101, it covers geol180. He was a super cool guy, really generous grader. For the tests just study the review sheets, there basically the same as the tests. Overall would definitely take him again, and definitely recommend.
This prof was super easy going. There was a low impact assignment due every other time I had him so on those days almost everyone showed up. Other than that, never checks attendance. Gives extra credit opportunities, tests are the same as the study guide however he never posted the answers to the study guides, just the questions. would take again
He is really one of the BEST professors I have had so far. I took his class for oceanography and it was really a joy. Hes super funny and makes the lectures interesting. If you do the review for the tests youll be fine. I thought I was going to have a hard time but its the exact opposite. Hes really awesome! Highly recommend.
HE'S THE BEST! Do yourself a favor and take him for especially PGEOG 13000. He makes the class fun and enjoyable if you're not interested in weather and climate. He is funny, understanding, and very caring. The content was a little difficult, but he's really one of the best teachers I've had at Hunter College.
He's fun funny and knowledgeable. Made me consider environmental sciences minor even though my major has nothing to do with it. Class is ridiculously easy, so you can focus on the topics and learn properly without stress. Its a huge subject and i would have lost interest had the class been hard like some professors believe school should be.
He's a very expressive person and fills the class with his energy. Class is easy so its stress free and i feel like i actually learned some things instead of cramming-forgetting like other classes tend to be. He's fun and he knows things, good combo.
Honestly he was the kindest and most caring professor Ive had. Hes really understanding and doesnt give a lot of work. No complaints and Id definitely take him again.
Genuinely one of the nicest professors I have ever met. Genuinely. He is the most caring and understanding instructor, especially during online school. He constantly reminds us to have fun and take care of our mental health. All he wants is for his students to do well and enjoy life. Amazing professor.
He is a great professor! Really passionate about what he teaches and cares about his students. Knows how to laugh!
Oh my gosh this man is such a gem. He is so caring and kind and the course itself does not really interest me but he made going to lecture worth it just by being engaging and a breath of fresh air at Hunter. It is very rare to find professors who are just genuinely nice people, but Frank is one of those professors.
this guy RULES. he WANTS you to get an A and he WILL give you one, as long as you're trying. he never wants his class to be your most stressful class. he's so enthusiastic about rocks, even if you hate rocks, you'll want to listen to him talk about rocks. he has the best laugh ever. take his class.
Hands down one of the best professors I have had. He really tries to make oceanography a topic that his students are engaged and genuinely interested in. Exams are easy, just review the material and you're good to go, nothing difficult. His workload is really light simple, and he typically grades off of completion. 10/10, def take his class.
Professor Buonaiuto was very kind and caring towards all students! Homework almost every week, and one final main research project determine your grade.
The key to passing this class is showing up and participating, also if you need help with anything ask him after or during class and he will break it down ASAP. I took this course through the thick of covid so it was online but it still felt like a real class. He was super accommodating when I needed time to make up work. He's literally the best!
He is a great professor, was super accommodating and very approachable. If you need help with something definitely reach out to him. There were HW assignments every week and 2 exams in total, which were all manageable, and then the lab component. He really wants everyone to show up to class. Overall, a really good class and teacher!
Honestly the most chill professor. I never stress about his class and makes the lectures interesting
Fabulous Professor ever in Hunter
Awesome prof! I had a blast in his class. He realizes that students have enough to worry about, so he makes his lectures fun and interactive. His grading on the homework is based on completion, and he let us choose our groups for the final research project. Definitely take him for MHC 200!
Best class ever. Professor's class was amazing. He's such a nice and considerate person and is extremely understanding of people's personal situations. Class was really relaxed and communal. I think if you go out of your way to try enjoy your classmates, mhc200 will be an amazing time for you. 11/10 would rec for MHC200.
He's all right. I just go for attendance, but I also catch up on other work either from his class or outside of class. He's not strict on deadlines, but he prefers you do it on time. He keeps you updated on current ocean news which is cool.
This has to be the EASIEST class ive taken, Show up and you get a A, Thats it. Class was interesting if youre into the ocean. easy A tbh
Take this class you won't regret it it can be boring at times and you may want to fall asleep but he tries and makes everyone entertained especially at 9 in the morning he had us do weekly homework's on things going on in the ocean and had 3 case study's that were interesting and a online quiz for each chapter that you could have as many tries on
The GOAT. Take him if you get the chance! Basically no homework, just do the STEAM project. He makes the class so fun. He also gives a lot of opportunities for CS majors and I credit him for connecting me with a professor that led to a project that led to a summer internship. I am forever grateful.
Professor Buonaiuto is awesome. Although this was an 8:30 a.m. elective class for me, I attended almost every single one because his pre-lecture ramblings and actual lectures were always so interesting. Gave very little work. Very chill and fun class! I learned so much. I would take his class again in a heartbeat.
I respect this Professor. He said attendance isn't mandatory to pass but many, including me, still come to learn about oceans. He provides a textbook but we don't use it at all. You can use it if you're interested to learn more. And for tests, its online and you have two attempts so you can have a second chance to get the questions you got wrong.
love this guy. he is SO fun to talk to. also for mhc200 he only really cares about the steam festival project. but he's great!
