he is just so boring... reschedule if you can.
I found him interesting, though the class was a bit easy
makes you think about stuff you've not though about but nice overall
I wish I could have taken him for all my psych classes.
Great guy, does different things in the class
What a boring class
very cool guy!!! learned a lot...hard tests!!!
Worth staying awake for. Kinda cute for an old guy.
Great teacher! He uses all different methods of teaching syles. He keeps it real
No Comments
Had him last semester.Stay awake, go to class, study you've got an 'A'. He tells you what to expect.
maybe if he'd worn shoes during class I would have done better
Very easy teacher. Do the work that he rarely gives you'll do fine,
Good teacher but talks all the time! It gets kind of boring. He doesn't give much work and when he does it's usually in groups.
Uhh, indifferent on him. Can be an @sshole, but can be pretty nice too. Solid class, I guess.
He knows what he is talking about, and knows how to teach it to you. He likes to used different learning methods, and gets the class involved. I really enjoy the class
Dr conner is alright! but his exams are kind of confusing. the mutiple choices questions are so confusing. i didn't really learn anything from the class. and i am one of the students who always gets A's.
Easy class. He doesn't take attendence and tests right from the book. I went to class maybe 10 times and that was it and still got an A. Just read the book and your fine. The only bad thing.. his tests are over 7-8 chapters at a time. so study.
Way too political for a class of this sort; he once skipped out of a class on the day of a test to travel to New York to protest. I had him in the winter of '03. He is a very odd man. He probably could use a few appointments with a shrink not teach psych.
Hilarious! That is all I have to say. Read the chapters carefully, his tests and lectures are directly from there. Great guy, wierd, but great. The no shoes thing is cool and he is always willing to lend a helping hand, do good on the papers and try hard on the tests and you'll do fine.
great teacher dont procrastinate with the final project. the tests are hard but if you read and semi pay attention you will get through it. youll get over the shoe thing too.
I had a lot of trouble trying to figure out what he wanted on the tests. He was not very helpful in figuring it out, either.
He was the easiest teacher I ever had a CC. He's also very straight forward and doesn't give a damn what you think about him. Very laid back guy with a great sense of humor and realistically understands that we all have lives outside of school.
Dr. Conner is nice. There's 4 time consuming projects, and 4 big tests but no final exam. It's a pretty good class though. He doesn't take attendance either.
easy class. doesn't take attendance. doesn't have much of a direction. gets off topic. didn't learn much all semester. good discussions though. opened my book like one time all semester. tests are hard.
He's extremely experienced in this field and can pretty much answer any question you throw at him. So far one of the best professors at CC. Take him for all PY classes if possible. Tests are easy as long as you actually make an effort and study, read all the notes and material he provides, and complete all the small projects.
His class wasn't bad per se...but if you're an introspective psych major who wants in depth theory and wants to see it applied to life, then you'll be disappointed. It's more like group therapy, people were hugging and crying and sharing their life stories. The academic value was very very little, although Conner is a great prof and knows his stuff
The single best Prof I have ever had. If your doing a Psy Major - he is definitaly a good choice. If your not, you might not enjoy the added stories and insight this guy has. But regardless - he is not a bad choice in either case.
Dr. Conner is a funny guy. He has a great sense of humor. I had him for applied psych. also. He did well in applied psych and I would totally recomend him for that class. But for developmental psych. he was good and maybe there wasn't enough room but it was all lecture. But don't let that stop you from taking his class. His projects help raise grade
Great guy, Great class, read the chapters and study and you will pass the tests. Easy as that. Best psych teach for sure!
Probably one of the coolest teachers at GRCC. He has vast knowledge of psychology related things and loves working with people. He also has a great sense of humor and has the class really involved in discussion.
Prof. Conner was great, he had many helpful aids since it was an telecourse. He was understanding and helpful.
He rarely returned emails, used an outdated textbook, syllabus, and notes, and copied 90% of the questions for the test from the study guide. If you want an A take his class.
He is a pretty good techer. He is a really smart guy and I learned quite a bit. I found this class to be enjoyable. His tests are kind of hard; they are multiple choice, but they are questions that you have to know the material inside out. The class wasn't too easy, but it wasn't overly difficult either. I would recommend him as a teacher.
Frank is laid back and can talk about anything. He's very knowlegeable and helpful. His tests are difficult so make sure to understand the theories inside and out. Lots of online homework, had to read each chapter.
I took his online class and it was a waste of time! He only returned one of my e-mails and i e-mailed quite a few times! Very frustrating. he doesnt comment on the discussion board at all! Its like he forgot about this class online! He doesnt grade tests for 2 weeks after you take them! I wouldnt recommend this teacher at all! Not helpful
I love Frank Conner! He is one of the bet teachers I've ever had. The tests can be a little difficult, but if you read the chapters you'll be alright.
He is a great professor. Very intelligent, uses lots of relatable examples. This class is great, absolutely recommend it to any psychology major. His tests are difficult READ THE BOOK. The papers are graded very easily as long as you follow the outline he provides for you.
Attendance was mandatory. Most exam information was taken from text. Long list of powerpoint driven lectures were not useful to me. Zero feedback was given on assignments. You had to see professor during office hours to review your graded exam. Exams and papers were not graded in timely fashion, despite exams being multiple choice scantron.
Wow, this professor is great (especially for GRCC). Excellent preparation for upper level classes. His exams are difficult, but in the end there is so much extra credit offered that it doesn't make much of a difference. Very good experience, requires a lot of reading and studying. You're lucky if you can get into one of his few classes
slow grader,hard tests,alot of work,be ready for a challenge.
I took his class online. It was very easy. All multiple choice, and 3 discussion comments per week. I was disapointed at the lack of communication on his part. I emailed him at various times for important class related items and the one time he responded was almost 2 weeks later. There were no postings or feedback from him on the discussion board.
his tests are very difficult and the quiz' are timed. he never replies to emails and is too busy telling his credentials to answer a question from the 'little people'. Do not take this class
Smart relatable guy with tough tests. I felt as though the method he used to have us review was an experiment, and it wasn't that useful for me. Just read the book, review the theories and know the names associated with them and you'll be fine. Projects were time consuming so partition your time for this class well in advance and stick to a plan.
I took his online class and it was fairly easy. You generally read one chapter a week and then do practice tests online. There is a test about every three chapters and all the questions are taken from the practice tests. You guide yourself through the course based on the syllabus - don't expect him to send you reminders.
Super difficult text. He graded application papers very harshly. His schedule is jam packed full of assignments. If you are not taking an excessive amount of classes and are organized you will do better than me.
Dr. Conner is a very intelligent man and he knows it. His tests are extremely hard, he doesn't give an exam review, so if you read the book, you're still destined to fail. He grades application papers harshly. This was my 2nd time taking this class and he failed me AGAIN even after I put 125% in it. I'm starting to think that he doesn't like me.
Dr. Conner's class is really hard. His lecture is really interesting but doesn't have to do with the exams. His exams are so SO hard. After hours of studying I still only managed B-'s and C's. I was disappointed because I worked so hard. Good luck, but damn!
Super hard class!!! You will pass though if you ask questions and study hard. You have to read the book and practice, practice, practice. I suck at math but I am going to pass his class. Don't be afraid to ask questions. He is a cool guy too.
Absolutely no clarity. I am still confused on what is required of me and it's the last week of the class. Buy the book.
Great prof! I never actually talked to him or anything, but his syllabus was very clear. I would definitely recommend him to anyone that is a self learner! I loved this class!
Very difficult class, plan to work! I worked my bottom off. He told us everything we needed to do. His syllabus was clear. He has a sense of humor. He rarely wears shoes unless there's snow on the ground. he will talk about literally anything! Subject is extremely challenging. He is the right person for the task of teaching it!
There is A LOT of work involved with this class, and the material is quite tricky. You will use MyStatLab and do a pre-test, homework, and post-test every week. Homework and post tests have to be a certain grade to receive credit, but you can take it as many times as you need. Conner has videos explaining each chapter, which are VERY useful. STUDY!
He is a joke. He takes way too long to grade everything, even scantron tests. He grades way to hard on papers too, and barely even explains how to do the paper in the first place. Even if you follow the rubric you probably still will fail. I'd avoid him at all costs. He doesn't teach well.
This was a difficult class, but an A is possible. Pay attention to the labs; those questions show up on the tests. Do the practice test for each unit test, too, and you'll be well prepared. Also, watch the videos! They're very helpful. If you have a chance to take a class with him on campus, do it. He's much more likable in person.
Dr. Conner is an extremely interesting and knowledgeable professor. He has excellent communication skills. If you are willing to read the textbook, study his powerpoints (posted in Blackboard), and listen in class, you will pass. Be sure to use the rubric for his papers as your outline. If you do, you will get the full points every time.
This was by far the worst class I've ever taken. There is so much busy work with MYSTATS Lab. Its three hours to do one HW and because I took it in the summer it was really speed up. He doesn't follow his syllabus at ALL. He told us no exam would be less than 60 mins but they were 50 mins and we had 45 questions. HE IS NOT HELPFUL. AVOID HIM.
I was not happy about this class. Rarely replied to emails. I had no idea how to study for his exams because he was not clear on what we would be tested on. He assigns long papers and is good with telling you how you did on papers. Not every helpful and acted annoyed when you emailed him with questions. This is a retake class. Get new professor.
This was the worst class I have ever taken. Dr Frank Conner is the head of the department, makes it hard to get any real feedback. When working with his rubrics for papers, you will still fail. You have no idea what he will be testing on. He gives no study guides for any of the test. Long papers. Impossible to take notes. No feedback Difficult!
I loved this class! The videos were a great help when I was struggling to grasp a particular concept. The discussion boards gave me the opportunity to learn from other students as well. The practice tests were so helpful in preparing for the exams. Make sure you study because there is no extra time during tests to look things up!
Frank really know his material & is genuinely intelligent but the way he teaches this class & the way his tests are set up, are ridiculous. The tests arent based off anything that he puts into his power points. There are lots of papers & it's almost as if he refuses to give out good grades for them. This class was very frustrating to say the least
Frank Conner was a terrible teacher. When I asked him for help he acted like I was bothering him and I never got any help at all! I explained to him from the beginning of the class that I would need a little extra helped and he just watched me drown basically. Don't take him if you know you're going to need a professor to actually help you.
Overall Professor Conner was an amazing teacher. He does such a good job relating the material of class to the lives of college students so you can best understand it. He does not assign a lot of homework, just papers and tests. However, the tests are very easy and the papers are simple. I would highly recommend him to all students.
Lazy Professor. He teaches an online class, and won't give you any notice whenever a test becomes available. You are supposed to have every test date memorized from your syllabus. Seems like he doesn't care about his students.
For a lower level psych course, this was an extremely heavy workload. 'Homework quizzes' are hard, some answers to the questions completely contradict what's in the text. Exams are even worse. You literally get 1 min per question, & once you submit an answer, it can't be changed. Take a different prof if you take other classes & work full-time.
Dr. Conner is probably the smartest person I have met. His classes aren't easy. If you don't love psych THAT much, you'll struggle. If you are unmotivated, you'll struggle and hate the class. He's intimidating, but he really does want you to succeed. I've never learned so much about myself and the world around me from just one class. I loved it.
Worst psych class I've ever taken. Dr. Conner lectures the entire class about topics that do not even appear on the tests. Studying was so hard because he gives no study guides. You're supposed to go off his powerpoints, which still don't have all the material. Assigns soo many long papers. Picky and tough grader. Gives no feedback. Difficult.
Prof Connor gives you everything that you need to do well in this class, but it is a ton of work. I spent about 15 hrs/week on the 7 week course. His videos are super helpful as are the practice tests--neither are mandatory. He responds to emails quickly. Tests are timed and you will have 0 minutes left to go back and check answers or ponder.
I took his intro to stats and social psych class. He has you spend hundreds of dollars on class materials instead of teaching. I have taught myself every chapter of both classes. He often doesn't respond to my emails when I am looking for help... which I need... because im teaching myself!!!!! The material isn't too hard, but still! So annoying!!!
Dr. Conner is unfortunately the reason I have begun to loathe my major. In person, hes not too bad of a professor, but online is a different story. You need to learn everything yourself and his syllabus is as vague as possible, and when you contact him, you get a mediocre response at best. His classes have a special way of making you feel stupid.
He doesn't teach you anything. You read from the book, then make 3 discussions about whatever he wants and do 3 projects, that I see as dumb, and that's it. He doesn't interact with his students whatsoever. No help. His tests are on that dumb video recording lock down site. So you best study--with which there is no study guide; all in all, goodluck
Doesnt respond to emails asking for help. exams are 55 mins w/ 50 questions. doesnt cover the material in the exams. I wrote 16 pages of notes for exam 2, studied for 10+ hours (bc of poor grade on exam 1) & for exam 2 I got a 37%. almost never gives out As for assignments/D.B.s. Makes me feel very stupid. Good luck.
He seems like a nice guy but his feedback is really confusing. I never really understood what I did wrong or right. The class schedule is also really bad. Homework for ch13 will be due the same week you take the test on ch5-10. I hear he's much better in person so try not to take his online classes.
This professor did not communicate. There were only 3 or 4 messages from him through the semester. His grading was difficult as well. You must go beyond the rubric on projects in order to receive an A even if you meet the page requirement. Directions are also vague. Tests and other assignments were not too hard though. Take in-person not online.
I took him for research methods. Worst decision ever. No backtracking on tests, 50 questions, 55 minutes. Lockdown browser required. Had 4 people read over one paper of mine, still gave me a C. All I remember from his zoom classes were im putting you into breakout groups and him pouring a cup of coffee. Does not provide good feedback. DONT TAKE.
He is not very communicative. His hw is not too bad but the exams is 60% OF YOUR GRADE! his exams arent even discussed during meetings and its ridiculous for a research class and your papers are only 10% of your grade. good luck passing the class lol
He seems like a good person, but he really can't teach online. I heard he is better in person, so avoid online. He does not explain assignments and his grading is not well explained. You will read your textbook and teach yourself this course. No study guides. Tests are 60% of grade, browser lockdown, 75 questions in 1.15 hours with no back tracking
So many papers, doesnt provide good feedback that will help you with the next ones. Tests are impossible, no study guide, 75 questions! His lectures were about 5 minutes long so be prepared to teach yourself the material. Very bad at explaining and giving directions so it made the papers very difficult to write.
2/10 professor - nonresponsive to emails - grades new assignments without answering your questions about previous assignments - basically have to teach yourself - tests are hard to prepare for - lectures only cover 15-20% of the material you need to learn for the test
Psych 201 is one of the easiest classes and he made it much more difficult than it needed to be. Only gave me a full 100% on ONE assignment the entire semester. I got good grades in the rest of my classes so I know it wasn't me. He's not too terrible if you don't mind getting mediocre grades no matter how good you are and teaching yourself.
Took him again, do not recommend. You have 3 papers, it doesnt matter if you do well if you dont do well on the exams. Exams are covering 3-4 chapters, he loves to add stuff from previous chapters. The tests are 80-90% of your grade. He only goes over the powerpoint and yeah, overall, do not take.
He is very smart and informative in class but a complete disaster when it comes to grading, answering emails, and making sure everyone is aware of what needs to be getting done. He would show up late everyday, grades very inconsistently, and does not let you know how you did or where you went wrong until it is too late. Do not recommend.
Professor Conner was very knowledgeable, and I enjoyed his lectures. I just wish he cared about teaching the class more. He showed up late every single day and ended early. I feel I could have learned a lot more from his class if he would have made more than the bare minimum effort. Highly talented but very lazy. Weak syllabus and communication.
If you don't need to take this class, don't take it. If you do need to take this class, take it somewhere else. 65% of your grade is dependent on 3 tests, and he does not teach any of that material, you must teach yourself. He will fail your papers for the simplest things, and waits MONTHS to grade your papers (in our case the final week). RIP 4.0
Was not understanding. Doesnt respond to emails. Doesnt allow you to make up or redo assignments under any circumstances. Not interesting in teaching the subject. Get ready to teach yourself through the reading!!!
Dr. Conner is unprofessional and did not respond to emails very well at all. Hard to get in contact with even if it was an urgent matter and was not very understanding of things that may occur outside of an individual's control.
The WORST professor I had my entire college career. I felt uncomfortable multiple times in his class. Kind of sexist, goes bear foot to class- late to EVERY single class, ends it early. Does not answer emails. Does not help students. How this man is employed is beyond me. Will be contacting higher ups.
He is unprofessional, selfish, condescending, and will not help you. He lazily mumbles through his lectures like he's bored while "teaching" class. He is late for every class, forgets to bring the exam scantrons on exam days, and doesn't reply to emails. Sorry in advance to anyone that has to take his class and suffer as I did, the trauma is real.
Don't bother to show up to class, because he does not teach you. You will have to teach yourself using the online program to do your homework. Words cannot express how unpleasant he is and how uncomfortable he made me feel. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. He is an absolutely horrible professor.
Dr. Conner is an utterly disagreeable professor. I grieve for the psychology department knowing that somehow this man is the head of it. I grieve for all current and future students of his because I know the misery you are or will go through.
WARNING! DO NOT TAKE DR CONNER'S CLASS! Tears will be shed. He does not care about his students- he shows this by not replying to emails and saying that he does not have time to answer your questions after class. He graded my exam incorrectly and I would have received a 76% if I had not caught his mistake and discovered that I actually got 89%.
He is a very smart guy but does not teach the material you need to know. The tests are hard and are the majority of your grade. He also ends classes early and does not teach everything that he could because of that. Was a super nice guy just not the best professor.
This Professor is respectful but, is the worst at "teaching". The lectures he provides in person are just him taking his knowledge from Mystatslab and putting it on the board. By the end you'll realize that you could've just watched the useless lecture online. Futhermore, he never responds to emails in the end good luck finding the final grade.
Does not know his dates or materials, very unprofessional, not easy to work with.
Nice guy, It's clear he likes what he teaches but he's always late to class, tests are super hard, doesn't lecture on what's on the test, makes inappropriate jokes constantly and doesn't seem to actually care about his students at all.
Frank may be the head of the psych department but he lectures like he doesnt know anything but what his slides say. I failed almost all tests after I studied for hours for all of them because the slides dont have any application just definitions. He doesnt wear shoes to class when it's warm outside (or socks) and uses lots of sex example's its odd.
Tests are 65% of your grade, and even if you spend weeks studying they're impossible (and proctored). You spend most of your time on papers, mindtap, and group projects. Those are worth about 5-10% of your grade. If you can take another prof for this class, do it. This class will bring down your GPA and cause you so much stress. SO MUCH STRESS.
There's SO MUCH HOMEWORK in this class - be prepared for it. He grades hard on discussion boards and doesn't seem to look over tests after everyone takes them, so they won't be curved. This class was honestly as bad as everyone said it would be, and it took a lot for me to even finish with a passing grade. Good luck!
I took this class online over the summer and it was not great. Professor Conner graded one assignment at the beginning of the class then didn't grade any more assignments until the end of the class. At that point it was too late to use any of the feedback to improve on future assignments. Overall seemed like a lack of effort on his part.
I have never written one of these before and because of frank conner I finally am. If you are thinking of taking a class with him or are scheduled one with him I am begging you to switch out. If you are taking him online be prepared to cry, spend endless ours teaching yourself, and never being able to get ahold of the professor for any questions.
literally the worst prof I've ever had in my whole schooling experience. If you don't have to take his classes, DON'T DO IT.
I would not recommend taking any of his classes online. He is very hard to reach and does not respond to emails. He does not answer questions or support students with questions about the material. The due dates are sporadic. The course load is intense, and he expects you to spend 12-16 hours a week on this course.
3 exams are worth 65% of your grade so good luck getting a good grade if you bomb one. The questions feel like trick questions and the questions feel like all answers could be correct. Papers are easier and implementing experiments is kind of fun. Do not take him if you have any other options!
Avoid taking this class with Professor Conner if possible. The workload is heavy, with little support from the professor, who is often absent or unresponsive. However, resources like Unstuck AI can help make the most of this challenging course.
Frank Connor was hands down my favorite professor between GRCC and CMich. I took every class he taught at CC. His passion for psychology was so inspiring!
