Biochemistry made fun!!!
BORING. Exams are stupid & based totally on lecture, not book. Knows his stuff and is clear.
He's the kentucky fried colonel... white beard, white hair, glasses.. exams are easy... AND, he gives out free.. yes FREE buckets of fried chicken.. HOLLA
get ur hands on as many recent old exams and follow the sudy guide--> recipe for an A!!!!
He def repeats old exams....But i wouldn say easy! u still have study like crazy;teaches soo much & tests on about 25%..so you basically have to know everything b/c u never know what hes going to ask.. BUt I did learn a lot. Hes helpful, & great for MCATs
Deis is the man. He loves biochem, but doesn't force students to love it. Gives fair exams that you can actually get a good grade on and understand, not an impossible exam where a 60 curves to a B. Camshafts and the Simpsons rule!!

His taste in movies is impeccable. He repeats questions from past exams but mostly for the multiple choice. He does throw some questions from leftfield so make sure you study everything from your notes throughly. He's the best sci prof I've had here.
You will need to change your studying habits a bit- don't read the chap. just the pts. in his study guide and then the exams aren't so bad. I love this class, he says the most interesting stuff. A must for bio majors!
He does not teach well, seems like he just talks to himself the whole period. Exams include a lot of material, but you can do well on them by looking at past exams and memorizing your notes & the study guide. This guy can be a major jerk. For your own sake, take 115.
He's so freaking hard! His notes are all over the place and he just keeps talking and talking and it's hard to absorb anything and sometimes even to stay awake. Exams are insane, he puts the most minute things on there. What did I do to deserve this?
HARD AS HELL! HE DOES NOT CURVE, not even a point. wtf?
Attending lecture is a must, readings from the book aren't emphasized so much. His anecdotes and stories make the dry material really interesting! The best lecturer out of the bunch that do this course.
Best science professor at Rutgers...really passionate about what he teaches...great examples and methods of teaching...makes a tough subject easy and interesting to learn...nice guy too...
VERY fair. guide to tests that he gives out gaurantee at least a b+
Class is soooo boring!!! Don't look for much of a curve in his class either (~1 pt). Save ur time by NOT attending class even though he says all his material is from class. Just look at his study guides and read the corresponding material in the text to pass this course. Make sure u know how to draw all the structures and mechanisms.
intro to molbio: learn from study guides, attend lecture for essential handouts and know your notes inside out. he talks 100 miles an hour and writes pretty small so sit in front and make friends with pharm. students who have access to all old exams from the frats and sororities. Sample exams from MSLC and online are often different - do them ALL.
Dr. Deis was very helpful at answering questions and responding to emails very promptly. The course material was difficult but Dr. Deis explained it much better than our text. He made it much more intersting than I thought the material could be.
Great professor. What he teaches in class is what will be on your exam. There's a lot of material so a lot of studying is required, but he clearly gives you all of the information you need to do well.
He's neither a biochemist nor a mol bio'ist. He's not interested in making sense out of things, just wants you memorize. Memorization of these random things gets you nowhere, it just turns you into a robot. I'm doing well, but learning nothing. Many others are not doing well, and learning nothing.
He changed the way he teaches... cus i took biochem already w/ him.. didn't do well last semester and yea.. this semester.. he made is so much easier, with curve, extra credits, take him, and he wants to know from us how he can improve.. so don't be afraid to tell him what you want.. but still study, =D Easy A I would say.. good luck
Frank Deis is smug and cockey. I think he jsut likes to show how much he knows when he teaches. I'm doing well in the class but I didn't feel like I learned anything during his lectures. You can get away with just memorizing things but you don't really learn anything.
Def. smug and cocky... not interested in knowing you at all... plays favorites and picks em out of nowhere and with no reason... his class is easy as hell and more than half the class gets an A... take the class if you want to get an A but learn nothing
Lectures were difficult to understand or note since his online notes were not informative AT ALL. I worked really hard in this class, attended all lectures, did all practice problems, studied, and got a C!!! Worst professor ever!
Very straight forward about what you need to know. MUST goto class and take good notes. Gives a lot of partial credit on the exams and grades fair! Everything he teaches will be on the exam. I got an A just by doing all of that...
Very good professor! I learned so much in his class. Must attend lectures and take good notes. Go to office hours if something's unclear, he'll be more than happy to explain and clarify information. He really enoys teaching this class and often brings props to explain class's material. If you study and follow his study guides, you'll do well! =)
Material is just for memorization. Will not help you in your future career, lab, pharmacy or medicine. Dr. Deis gives all the info for exams, but does not care about what he teaches. Praises those who are good at memorizing all the stuff he teaches. Not learning anything here! Waste of time!
Wonderful professor. Very personable. Explains material well, brings in props, relates material to everyday experiences. Go to class and take notes. Supplementary packet helps a lot. Grades fairly.
one of the better teachers at rutgers. so helpful and really funny. makes you want to learn biochem.
Horrible class, only good if you can memorize useless facts. This class is only managable if its the only class your taking. Be expected to be in the library for endless hours drawing molecular arrangements for glycolysis or other molecular pathways that are useless.
Awesome professor. Tells you EXACTLY what you need to know for the exam. Nothing is a surprise. There is alot of work (duh, its a 400 level class) but he puts it in such a way that its not too bad. He relates it to stuff you see everyday so it applies. Only problem, he gets really annoyed when you ask him to change a grade.
horrible class, exams test your ability to memorize trivial information rather than your knowledge of biochemistry
Didn't like him during 407 BUT in 408, after going through a # of prof. who couldn't teach for life and gave tests that **** u off, He seemed like God sent. Everything on exam from the study guide.Go to class, know stuff on study guide equals an A. ppl have highest class avg. on his exam
One of the best professors I have ever had. Class was hard but he give excellent examples of the study information, and if you go to class he tells you everything that will be on the exam.
Awesome professor! Really funny and helpful. I've had WAAAY worse professors and classes. You need to take good notes AND come to class to do well. Exams are straight-forward and some questions come from the old exams which he has posted on the website. Great class to take if you want to work for your A!
ok this class does not deserve a 4 or 5. Tell these A students to stop posting. A lot of people failed because it is mostly open ended (open for mistakes). Class is hard. Not impossible but damn near it. Just picture ORGO open ended X100. Its all memorization of mindless mechanisms. All i learned from this class : how to make ****ed mnemonics.
Obviously the person below had some serious biochemical crack and has clouded vision. As a matter of fact,Deis is THE most respected person in his dept and his knowledge base is indeed limitless,he just restrains from giving extra info b/c the subject matter is complex to begin with and doesn't want people to get confused.will learn lot if u want to
this class could be taught so much better. For a fairly complex topic, this guy just feeds you bits and pieces of useless info. If you want to listen to broken and unfinished sentences for over an hour, he's your man. Not clear, expect to be tested on pretty pointless stuff on his exams. only good thing: weekly reviews by the TA, who is much better
So far his exam was the easiest compared to Serenov and Neiderman. I advice all students taking his portion of the exam to focus strictly to the study guide, lecture and use the book to strengthen your understanding of the material in the study guide. I wish he'd teach the whole 407 class since it's so much more manageable to study his material.
Its not easy, but he practically tells you what you need to know on the study guide, so its pretty fair. The material is hard, but he teaches it well, and you'll remember some of it (and need it for the MCAT or other classes). Worse part of the class is Niederman's section- straight memorizing of worthless details.
Deis is a very fair professor. People complain that he doesn't go into enough stuff in lecture, but truth is, you wouldn't remember if he did. He talks about interesting details in lecture and then gives you good review sessions with everything you need to know! His sections are the better two.
Deis is very unclear and often pauses in the middle of sentences, then suddenly changes topics.Very hard to follow, writes way too fast on the blackboard.Tests are hard, half is open ended and requires you to memorize tons of pathways, structures, and drawings. He only gives curves for C's,HORRIBLE curving of tests.Probably the worst class for nutrmajors
I loved this professor.. had him for genes and evolution, an honors seminar... he's so funny and nice and truly loves to teach. He likes to tell stories and loves it if you participate. Def take this class, there's a movie every monday, and discussions every wednesday on the readings assigned each week. I love Frank Deis!!
Now the mandatory course for nutrition minors/majors. DIfficult course because of lack of previous knowledge coming in.(nutrition background) Not especially tricky but requires a lot of time input. Know the study guides completely(which means reading the book) and study the practice exams well because he reuses many questions.
Deis is a GODSEND compared to the other two lecturers. the 407 biochemistry class is so hard I am just glad he tells you exactly what to study but you do have to study, ALOT. otherwise enjoy him whenever you can because it just gets harder...
For the type of material he has to teach he is a good prof. If you attend class he tells u what to study. if you look at previous exams it is ExTrEmLy helpful!! overall it could be much worse, he keeps u interested on boring material
If you can do prev years' exams diligently, you can't do worse than a B. Deis gives you very helpful tips on how to memorize very complex and boring structures. If you do well in this course, BChem will be a lot easier in medical school.
Prof. Deis is awesome compared to the other two lecturers. To succeed in Deis portion you must go to lecture and use his study guides and read the book. The other professor Severinov you must pay attention to detail and know everything in the chapter. For Neiderman just know all of the details on his notes his lecture is a waste. Class is not hard.
His lectures were difficult, he starts sentences a lot and then trails off onto a different topic. Could be a bit abrasive when asked questions. To get an A, know EVERYTHING in his study guides, he is pretty straightforward from those.Get as many old exams as you possibly can and practice them diligently, he recycles a lot. Know diagrams from class.
He is crystal clear in lectures (which you absolutely must attend), and his exams are fair, except for like one question per exam where he'll draw a crazy straw and ask you to id it as a molecule. Know ur stuff, work hard n u'll be alright. I nvr used the book once n got a B+, n all the qs I got wrong were in the notes, I just was wrong lol. GL
Amazing professor. Makes Biochemistry seem comprehensible. Provides you with review guides and study aides. The course overall suffers since he's not the only one teaching.
Dr. Deis was a very good professor he often connected material in class with real world examples. Has office hours every week and rarely cancels them. Stick to the study guides for the exams follow the topics he gives on them because there was NEVER any topic on an exam that wasn't on his study guide.
Good teacher. Go to every class, study the lecture notes and refer to the book. He gives hints of test questions in class, so very beneficial to go.
Professor starts topics and then trails off, making it difficult to keep up and sometimes confusing. It's a good idea to bring a recorder. You need to know EVERYTHING in the notes and on his study guides.
Eccentric and sometimes confusing, but not mean. Study guides were extremely helpful. Attendance is also good but not mandatory if you can get notes. There's 5 practice exams per test and 80% of the exam comes from old exams. Slight curve, but only because class is not hard everyone scores well. If you failed, that means you didn't study AT ALL.
This class is all about memroizing stuff. If you have good memory, u will get an A. If not, it is hard to get a good grade. You need to memorize tones of stuff. U better memorize the whole book if u wanna pass this course. 3 professors are teaching the class. Deis is better than the other 2 prof. This class is extremely hard, crazy and boring!!
I went to Deis' "office hours" twice. The first time, he greeted my question with "... and you thought I had nothing better to do?". Second time, he told me to read the textbook (which I did... many times.) The class is not easy, and he doesn't make it any easier.
A very caring teacher. He promptly responds to emails, and was very encouraging during office hours, when I went to see him devastated about my grade on the first exam, which I did poorly. He's clear about what he wants you to know on an exam, and provides a good study guide. His instructions will help you succeed, if you pay heed.I strongly recommend him
Good professor..the material is just tedious to learn. Make sure you attend his lectures, and start studying for the exams at least a week in advance. It's a lot to memorize, but Deis keeps it cool and relates it to real world stuff. I got an A by reading everything 3x over and truly memorizing the mechanisms. If you do that, you'll be straight.
Biology majors should take this class. You have to work hard to get a good grade. Study guides were extremely helpful, but you also have to rely on his lecture notes in order to get a high grade. In order to obtain the best lecture results, take notes while listening to him, and bring a recorder with you in order to write the info you missed.
You have to work hard for a good grade. In case you have trouble listening to his lectures, bring a recorder with you, but still do your best in taking notes during class. Use the recorder to fill in the information you missed. Study guides were extremely helpful. If you study his lectures and study guides, you should be in good shape.
His class is actually pretty easy. You just need to keep up with the readings and stuff. I got a C but that's honestly because I barely tried. On my last exam, when I did try, I got an A, so it just goes to show that if you keep and and study semi-hard, this class is easy. A LOT OF MEMORIZATION!!!
Professor Deis is a good lecturer and his lecture are somewhat entertaining. The class included alot of memorization and many hours of studying is necessary in order to get an A. Best out of the three lecturers
definitely a doable class, though Deis was unorganized, he does tell you everything you have to know for the exam. memorize everything he writes on the board, his study guides supplement the book very well and are extremely helpful to do well on the exams. i was really intimidated by this class but ended up doing pretty good. so don't be scared.
One of the hardest bio courses at Rutgers. Make sure you have enough time to memorize EVERYTHING he tells you to know in his study guide. Take good notes as he provides many shortcut alternatives to the reactions in the book. An A is possible, but you'll have to work your butt off. you'll learn a lot in this class.
His exams have no curve because they are all rather easy because he tells you exactly what to study for with his study guides and he gives you previous exams which all have the same basic questions. His lecturing is all over the place. Basically do everything the study guides say and you'll get an A. Also read the articles he posts on his website.
Deis is a very weird dude. His lectures are also very, very unorganized. However, he does write and tell you everything you need to know for the exams. The hard thing is to write good notes because hes so unorganized. His study guides are very helpful. Go to class, take good notes, and know everything in the study guide and you should do fine.
Orgo is a pre-req for this class, and this class is NOWHERE near as hard as orgo. Deis makes it really easy to do well, just show up to class, know what he wants you to know, and the exams should be fine. Notes, textbook and his study guides are what you need--sound like a lot but they're not; you learn a lot and he's a good professor.
the amt of material u need to memorize cannot be understated: lecture notes, text book, handouts that u need to know on TOP of the study guide itself. u need to spend *ALOT!!* of time memorizing information from these different sources, which is a task in itself. that said, IF u successfully do all of the above, ull do well in the class
For summer, there is a 10% curve for C grade - that is a BIG curve. But the class itself is hard, so don't slack off on studying
He makes some memorizing-intensive exams, and looks like Charlie Daniels. Just memorize the textbook.
Biochem 301 with Deis isn't very bad. His lectures are very unorganized but he posts everything you need to know on the study guide. The amount of materials you need to memorize are insane but he doesn't throw any curve balls on the exam. Almost everything on the study guide reflects the questions on the exams. Overall not a bad class.
I read the book for the first two exams and got a low C. I did not read for the last two exams and got a B+. Don't waste your time reading the book. I wrote down every single word he said and everything he drew and memorized it. I also memorized the study guides themselves and the practice exams. I didn't get an A because of my own dumb errors.
Wonderful, approachable professor. Really shows you the human relevance of chem concepts. Do previous tests many times, go to TA reviews, attend every class. Extremely interesting material. Doesn't curve because he doesn't need to--class avg was always 75%. Take it seriously, follow his advice, and you'll succeed!
Kind of hard to follow during lecture. Just make sure to memorize everything on the study guides and you'll be fine. Pretty straight-forward exams but memorization intensive. Don't wait til last minute to study!
You'll memorize some stuff, and learn to figure out what they want you to regurgitate back on the exams. There's no critical thinking involved at all, but for some people maybe that was a plus.
Seems a lot harder than it is. Deis's exam material is the easiest. Its fairly clear from his lectures what he wants you to know. He can seem a bit eccentric to talk to, but he will certainly answer your questions should you have any.
This class is pure memorization. Not too bad. Tests are very fair and exactly what you expect. Very generous grading in open ended. Lectures are hard to follow. Sitting near the front is recommended.
How to get an A: record lecture, write whatever he writes on the board, make a note of any figures/handouts he shows (so you can look them up later) & what he says about them (recordings help here). Now condense all this info (including anything he says in class) into a single source. Then memorize like there's no tomorrow. Also: do some old exams.
This review is purely observational based. Take a moment and reflect on the structure/organization of the college courses. Now reflect on the course-content (Biochem). I hope you can see that in the present you can learn everything about biochem from the books/online. The lectures are useless because it's copy paste. If u are wonder..,I got an A.
This class is PURE memorization. Look at previous exams and memorize the answers to the multiple choice & short answer. Going to class is recommended because he shows you exactly how he wants you to draw things on the exam. However, the lectures are extremely boring. He is also rude if you talk to or email him.
Very nice and approachable professor. Lectures are boring but good to attend the class and take notes from the board. Definitely do all the old exams!! also TA reviews were really helpful for me. Purely memory based class.
The class isn't as bad as it sounds. The exams and material are straightforward, but require a lot of memorization. I could have gotten an A if I studied a bit more.
Lectures were pretty dull and useless. however the exams are VERY fair. if you study lecture notes (which he uploads on sakai), previous exams, and attend review sessions, you will definitely get at least a B+. I would only study a couple days before the exam
Lecture isn't mandatory and it's pretty useless and you can do well without going, but at least one 10 point question on the test is from lecture SO GO. He does curve, I had an 86 and that was an A. Repeats a LOT of questions so study old exams and try to get ahold of old exams that aren't on sakai!! NEED TEXTBOOK
Sooooo much memorization, this class is a waste of time and energy in my opinion, I learned absolutely nothing important. Should have taken 301, seems like it's a little better. Don't bother going to lecture, only Severinov's lectures are worthwhile. Deis is disorganized and gets distracted a lot. Free response on exams is where the struggle is
The lectures are boring, but GO. I tried not going and it was terrible. This class is 90% memorization. He puts up chapter study guides online to tell you exactly what you need to know, that's very helpful. In class, pay attn if he makes a big deal of something small: it will be on the test. No last-minute studying: the volume of info immense.
Biochem 301 is nowhere as difficult as Orgo here! Your grade is based on 4 non-cumulative exams. Attend lecture, study the annotated ppts write down everything Deis writes on the board, and read the study guides! He repeats lots of old questions so find recent old exams! Do all of that and no reason not to get an A in the class. Don't cram!
He may get carried away with his stories but other than that, I think he was a great professor. His study guides are key and his exams are consistent to what he preaches.
Beautiful. Optional attendance just take the exams. Lehninger text not necessary, but preps you for MCAT. Half of his questions are copypaste from old exams, get the more recent old exams from who you buy the textbook from, the rest is true from studyguides. I enjoyed his stories during lecture, wish more classes at Rutgers were like this.
Great guy and he's really passionate about his classes. By no means was this class easy especially if you're someone like me who doesn't get older exams and tries to actually do well. But, even though my grade was low, I learned a lot and his class truly prepared me for classes at the next level
This class requires tons of effort which is not easy with 6 other courses. Exams are difficult and require days of studying since Deis loves Orgo and makes students draw enormous structures. Also make sure to take good notes during lecture since some of the questions are solely based on what Deis randomly talks about instead of the powerpoints.
For a 3 credit course, this class is intense. We have to memorize tables, pathways, figures, and tons of structures. All of those concepts appear on his exam making this class feel like 6 credits. Since the structures are heavily carbonyl-based this class should be called Orgo 3 instead of Biochem.
Biochem with Deis is more difficult than actual Orgo. He has too many resources that are unorganized and is demanding. Practice exams have no answer keys so you have to do a little bit of research online to find all the answers. Literally a 3 credit course that feels like 6 credits due of the amount of work.
This class is good to take in the summer but not during the semester since Deis gives the same amount of work as students are only taking one class. Exams require a good working memory since you have to draw very specific structures and pathways. You also have to recall your knowledge of Orgo to do well. Basically the Boikess of MBB dept.
This class is tough and will take a GPA toll since the questions on the exams are really specific such as drawing the pathway for ephinenephrone signal transduction. Also need to be proficient in some of the most difficult Orgo concepts such as glycosidic linkages in carbohydrates and carbonyl mechanisms.
Exam is open ended and multiple choice. It's really easy to get 5-9 questions wrong on the multiple choice questions. Some are easy, some either you studied it or didn't. Open ended part on the exam is more straight forward with lenient partial credit. I didn't catch on until the second exam, BUT MAKE SURE TO DO YOUR STUDYING FROM HIS STUDY GUIDE.
This class is a repetition of Orgo since there are lots of reactions and mechanisms to memorize. You have to memorize glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, citric acid cycle, pentose phosphate pathway, etc. Mechanisms require a good working knowledge of Orgo 2 since it's based on aldol condensation and padped. Exams are also as difficult as Orgo.
This class gets progressively more difficult as time passes with exam questions becoming more specific like drawing every step in pathways. You have to be proficient in Orgo in order to do well in this class since many concepts build upon Orgo 2. Also no curve in this class so whatever score you receive on the exams becomes your final grade.
Exams are tricky and cover 9 chapters filled with Orgo concepts. You have to be careful when studying since there is no curve. One poor grade on an exam equals a poor grade in this class. Due to this difficulty there should be a 10-15 point curve. Take 407 instead which has 4 chapter exams and a big curve.
Deis does not know how to properly teach Biochem. He spends most of the time drawing random structures on the projector. Each lecture is over 100 slides. Since we are behind Deis is cramming 9 chapters worth of material into the final which will be difficult. Even Systems Physiology with Golfetti is better and easier than this class.
Never got a low grade in any science course. Well, I guess Deis's class isn't really a science course. It should be changed to Society 101. If you are premed, you will regret taking this course this semester since Biochem is supposed to be one of the most important classes before medical school. Take this course during the summer.
Without studying for days you are fried bacon with a side of scrambled eggs. Goes off tangent during lectures and writes random things under the projector. Exams are highly specific and cover tons of material. Do not take Biochem with him unless you want to become a breakfast.
Deis is a bad instructor. Very bad. I mean it's an easy class to get at least a B but you won't really learn actual biochemistry. You'll learn stupid facts like "what can you do to replenish glycogen? eat a big plate of spaghetti." This class is useless for the MCAT. In order to pass, memorize the old exams. He is also very rude in emails.
Dr. Deis is a boring professor. Extremely dry and just talks for an hour and twenty minutes. However, he clearly outlines what he will stress on the exam during class and on the study guides. Study five days before each exam and GO TO CLASS and you will be fine. Exams are just memorization.
He's extremely corny in lectures and makes eccentric gestures and jokes. His voice is annoying. He also constantly criticizes the material in the textbook, claiming that he's right and the textbook is wrong. Exams are flat out memorization of old exams and things he mentions in lecture. Easy B if you have sharp memorization skills.
Dr. Deis may come off as annoyed if you ask him for an SPN, but you need to realize there's hundreds of students asking for the same thing and it gets tedious. In lecture he is absolutely hilarious and clarifies exactly what you need to know. I've spoken to him in person and asked him questions and he is very kind and humorous. DO NOT CRAM!
I'm only halfway through the summer section but i absolutely love it! Not understandinf where all these orgo comparisons are coming from; if you do the work and put in the effort and study every day, this is a fair class. He's a good professor who teaches the material very well, unlike boikess and roth.
Terrible teacher, very bad teacher, believe me. Does not deserve the "Dr." prefix. Just memorize old exams if you want to pass. But if you want to learn something other than absurd and inconsequential facts, then self-studying is your best option. This class is utterly useless for the MCAT. It's an easy A though, believe me.
He would either explain something or point and say, "memorize this" *change slide*. 407 is so hard that it's offered as a grad class, seriously consider taking 301 instead. But hey, if you think you can overcome useless professors forcing you to memorize enough material to keep you busy for several lifetimes, go ahead and try your luck with 407.
Granted he is extremely knowledgable and overall a smart person, Deis talks as if everyone is an expert in biochem and it is blasphemous if you aren't. The class was impossibly hard and I went from a 4.0 to not that. Complete memorization in a small amount of time. I strongly suggest that anyone who reads this in the future take 301, save yourself.
He is very smart about the subject, but does not know how to teach. I never struggled in a science class until I took his class. The class is very unorganized, his lectures are horribe, and his tests are VERY specific. I taught myself in this class by reading the textbook. Only textbook I have used/read/bought in college. He does not give a curve.
Over the summer moves FAST, but if you have really good memorizing skills this class isn't that bad. The 1st exam was the easiest. He makes it very clear in class what he might put on the exam. Memorize what ever he writes on the board, read through his lecture notes/handouts, and do the practice exams. I only used the book ONCE for reference.
In terms of difficulty this class is pretty average. The exam score means are always 75 or above so most people are doing fine. This class is based on 4 exams, final is not cumulative. Lecture isn't mandatory. All you need to find are old exams and learn to memorize every single thing on his powerpoint to do well. He cares about every little detail
Very passionate about biochemistry. Wants his students to learn. Tests are heavy on old test material, use the MC from old tests to study.
People writing bad reviews probably didn't open their notes until the day before the exam... Study a few days in advance, make sure you know everything in his notes, and do the practice exams and it isn't hard at all. Go to the lectures because he writes down things that aren't in his powerpoints. You'll learn a lot and super helpful for the MCAT.
Deis is a good guy, super interested in his subject. If you pay attention in class, write what he writes on the board, and study according to the study guides it should be fine.
Class is very easy if you are good at memrozing. Great prep for medical school when taking memorization into account. However, the exams are a complete joke. NOOO brainpower is required to recieve an A. All you have to do is memorize everything!!!!!!! and you will definetly get an A. I would not take this class again though.
It isn't actually required to go to class for a raw grade percentage in points, but it is necessary to go in order to get all the details that others miss on the exams. He explicitly states that but people still skip class. He is one of the best professors there, probably because of experience. He is funny and very knowledgeable in random things.
should have more grades associated with hw, quizzes... lectures should pertain more to actual test questions
Honestly I loved his metaphors and I think overall he was a pretty good lecturer and teacher. Thanks for a great biochem intro Dr. Deis.
