I have some minor complaints with this professor, like sometimes lectures are boring, but overall he is a great teacher and makes learning about Africa enjoyable. He does have a strong accent, but he goes the extra mile to help students do well.
Great professor! I really enjoyed his class and he was so nice. Very helpful and would go out of his way for you.
EASY EASY EASY! REGIONAL STUDIES AFRICA!! HE MADE IT FUN AND EASY!!!
he is an ok prof. depends on if your on his good orbad side! be on his good....sure pass. dosent explain very well but, ask a lot of questions and he'll answer exactly whats on the tests. he gets really mad when u talk during class though and freaks out its pretty funny.goodluck reading his writing!
while this guy seems like an okay guy... What about professor - Unorgansized and underwhelming.
i don't know what people are talking about, frank is the nicest person ever and his class is easy. you look at slides all class period and he tells you what to know for the tests. he does have a strong accent, but if you don't understand him just ask and he'll repeat it as many times as needed.
I enjoyed having Dr. Eguaroje as a professor. He is a wonderful teacher and extremely intelligent. He does a great job at explaining concepts and is very enthusiastic in helping his students. Wright State is very lucky to have him. The fact that he is from Africa makes the experience even better.
This professor is good and is not hard to get a good grade take him.
wow, you can not understand this person...he is late, dumb, and with out a doubt boring......
I took his African Studies class and it was very interesting and very easy. He adds real life experience to the class!
the class is easy and interesting just don't show up on time he's usually 20 minutes late and will hold you over by at least 30 minutes
I dont think he is dumb, but he is boring. He is the easiest teacher I have ever met.He makes sure his students dont fail at the work he gives. And most of all he barely fails anyone.I took Art 214 last year got all F's on test and got a C overall.Just bring your effort for his class, pay attention and hand in work and you'll pass for sure!!!
VERY DISORGANIZED!!! He messed up the grades on one of the two test that he gave the class and then BLAMED us. And then he would not even go over one of the test after the entire class asked to since there were so many failures on it. We spend like 3 weeks going over the exact same stuff pics and all! Just dont waste you time
Frank is a great professor! He is usually 5-10 minutes late. Big deal...just plan to show up at around the same time. He never held us late, either. We were actually early on many days. He has an accent and scratchy writing, but he is always willing to answer questions about it. He's very inteligent. Nice to socialize with outside school as well.
Dr. Eguaroje was very boring and EXTREMELY unorganized... he is also very difficult to understand..
Hard to understand, very boring, don't take at night when you're tired b/c the class is long and very very boring. Has an accent from Africa, and I could only understand like 10% of what he said
You have to pay attention very closely because of his accent but he will repeat everything so you understand. Overall good class, he is very lively! I thought I would end up with a low grade in the class but he gives out extra points in the end. He made it clear if you worked hard during the quarter you would end with an A or B which is true.
he was difficult to understand at times, but he was actually quite funny. Some thigns he would tell in class were funny, he was easy and interesting. Good professor over all, despite his thick accent.
A lot easier then I expected. Tests are not cumulative, so not too much to study for exams. Very generous on points for presentations and gives bonus points for article outlines. Writing intensive course but each assignment is relatively short!
He has a thick accent, but if you pay attention, it shouldn't be a problem. He is very respectful to others, and it keen on students coming to class and participating. he lectures can be boring, but the work is easy.
he is very funny, basically pay attention and youll be just fine. enjoyable class
He is the best teacher I've ever had! I would take him again. He does have an accent, but I found it understandable and he's always willing to clarify for those who don't. I thought his accent was lovely, and loved to hear him talk. He was very hilarious and charismatic. His tests are worded a little tricky, but I got A's on all of them.
Hard to understand through thick accent, but he makes class enjoyable. Tests are easy if you understand what he lectures about and read the novel. Tends to push due dates back on the fly and allows turning in assignments later. Very easy and knowledgeable. Must take! You will learn a great deal in his class. Shows many movies. Writing Int. though.
VERY unorganized. Consistently 5-10 minutes late for class. Has little to no classroom management skills. As far as the content of the class, it was pretty boring. All we did was look at slides all night, every night. Would not recommend taking this professor.
This professor has a heavy accent but he is very funny.I didn't like the kids that enter this class and make fun of him because he is really good and he doesn't even understand what they are saying about him.It is a good class to take to get an A and get rid of gen. eds.
He's a great professor. He tells you the first day that if you have a problem with his accent, you can tell him. If people complain about his accent, they should've dropped the course. He's funny and keeps you entertained. It's an easy A and he likes to joke around with everyone. Easy class with a fun teacher, could you ask for more?
Dr. Eguaroje is a fantastic instructor. A passion for teaching, expertise spans across many subjects which he integrates as bonus information throughout his lecture. Very sensitive to student needs and will go out of his way to help you succeed. Teaches a GE art class and you walk away inspired, rare for a GE class. WSU lucky to have him.
Mr. Eguaroje was a very good teacher, yes he has a thick accent but you'll catch on, it's not that hard to understand. Also he's a very good teachers and wants to see his student succeed. He's always willing to help you if you need it.
Car broke down on the way to the final, got there 30 min late. He wouldn't let me take part I of the final with 1 hr left, told me he would call me to reschedule. He never did and gave me an 'X' as my final grade and still won't respond to my emails or phone calls. Fine professor if you don't mind failing for being 30 minutes late to class one day.
He's a great teacher and makes learning about Africa very interesting. I don't understand some of these compliments, must be from people who thought they could just come to the classes where he gives tests. Just go to class, take notes & complete the assignments. Both tests and assignments are not difficult at all. One of the best profs at WSU.
Sorry, meant to say complaints not "compliments"
Sometimes hard to understand but is willing to repeat himself. Trys to help. Overall not a bad class or teacher considering the fact that I had no interest. Would reccommend.
nice, understanding. foreign
great prof! he does tell his students to call him instead of emailing him. he is more than willing to help if you seek it. there are 3 books that you "need" but we only used "Africa and Africans" and that was once. would take him again!
All I can say is to not take his honors section. Lots and lots of work about boring books, approx 4-5 hours of reading and note taking a week. I'm sure his non-honors class is fine because they did not read Women in Parliaments
If you like a professor that is unorganized, late to class everyday, and completely unjust when it comes to grades, then Frank is your guy. Frank decided to give me a D on the fact that he didnt like me. So, take at your own risk.
Cool guy tried to make sure everyone got a good grade
He is not that bad, just kind of hard to understand.
cant understand speech clearly
he is very nice and very helpful
He is kind of hard to understand, so pay attention. He takes attendance every class. He goes on rants about Europeans ruining Africa. Class is easy, you have to write about 1 page for each class, and the final paper only has to be 2 pages long. Class is VERY boring, but an easy A.
This instructor is the best one ever. I don't know what ppl are saying about his accent "yes he does" but he makes it clear to evryone that he has an accent. So those who didn't like him had the chance to drop, but no they didn't because they realize he's a good prof. He is very knowlegeable. Always there to help wen u go see him.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Lets you out early every time. EASY A. He may be a little hard to understand but truthfully, his tests are so easy you don't need to understand him.
He did show up late a lot but many days let us out 45-1hr early.Heavy accent, so I sat up front which helped & he put much of lecture on power point.Tests are not too bad if you study.Writing assignments not difficult.Gives lots of extra credit. Will write you letter of recommendation if you ask.Tells fun/interesting stories.
Great Professor, one of a kind. Has alot of outside knowledge to bring to the curiculum. Hard working, I saw this professor go above and beyond for classmates. (something I haven't seen from many other professors)
Great guy, will give you a more in-depth and appreication of Africa, as well as African studies and Art. Has writing assignments, and is fair in grading, overall Excellent professor
He is a very easy "A" if you go to class and pay attention. I loved this gpa booster!!
Easy class. If you go and put forth some effort, it isn't a hard class.
he is very kind. he gave a lot of extra credit. attend the class and take some note... you will get A. show him that you are interested.
Best professor I have ever had. Dr. Frank is a one of a kind person, Yes accent is present but he knows and if anyone has trouble hearing him, he wants them to ask. Takes attendance so he knows whose serious about being there. Has a BIG HEART and will help you with anything you need. Easy class! He even types notes for you !! great professor.
he will try to make fun of you when he can .. not much help .. don't reply to emails .. don't take it !
Very great professor who does all he can to make students understand. He is easy going and very funny. Take this class, you will never regret it.
He means well, but this is probably the most boring class you'll ever take (Visual Art in Western Culture). Hard to understand so you have to pay close attention. Decent study guides for exams, but never has everything you actually need to know for the exam on them. Takes attendance, only allowed to skip twice. Wouldn't recommend this class.
Alright, hes not awful. However he is not a great professor. All we did was look at power points. He is very rude when it comes to religion. In my class he pointed people out as Buddhist because he thought they looked like it... they weren't. When you ask for help he is not very clear and does not respond to emails. His attendance policy sucks
I had Dr. frank for visual themes in western culture. He's a great teacher! The lectures are long but you will learn to like them. I loved this class. The exams are easy and he does what he can to help students pass! He's also hilarious he always had me laughing.
Expects you to be on time for class and to attend everyday but shows up late to his own class. Once he showed up 30 minutes late. Says he gives out SO much extra credit but probably forgets to put it in. Awful lecturer -- he reads off the power points and has heavy accent. Take a different IWMC course. This class is not worth your time!
He has a heavy accent but very easy to comprehend and he takes his African heritage serious. He gives out a lot of handouts and emails you the lectures. I loved taking his class.
He is always late, very unorganized, asks class what assignments are in the syllabus & when they are due, totally biased and optionated. never posts anything on pilot, never got anything back that was graded, he does use his email but not a whole lot. He was funny but he was so contradicting with his material.
Contradicts himself. Unprepared for class. Focuses on sexual issues more than other cultural issues. Hard to understand his test questions or his lectures because he is from Africa. Nice person, wants to help you. Yells at class often. Embarrasses students. Does not return any HW so you have no idea what your final grade will be until the final day
He may be hard to understand sometimes and he is very aware of that, and wants you to tell him when hes being unclear. His class can be very boring sometimes. He uses powerpoints every class, which contain pictures from the text book and you discus the picture, their meaning and the era they were made in.
Hard to understand, but he recognizes that and tries his best. His lectures are long & hard to follow. You also never really know what you're supposed to write down/take notes on because its very disorganized. Also didn't post grades or give grades back all semester until the week of the exam. Very bad experience in this class. Wouldn't recommend.
This class was very interesting. The professor somehow managed to give everyone's A's and B's by moving the grades around. I did terrible on all of the exams but still got an A in the course? He is very rude and disrespectful to students and expects you to know every single answer to his questions. IF you have to take him, you'll manage.
Got an A, did very little work but came to every class and participated. He respects people who show up every class and listen to his rants, it seems physical grades don't matter to him, he grades more based on what kind of student you are. Easy A with not a lot of work required!
Only a few assignments. Doesn't use pilot at all. Will make you come to class to tell you it's cancelled. It's an easy class, tests are over handouts and we watched YT videos a lot. He's laid back but very passionate. He takes attendance every class but lets you out early often. Your grade is your attendance!! Has an accent but you get used to it.
One of the best professor ever. I recommend him
I have a decent number of issues with Frank. For one thing, he has an accent and is hard to understand, which would normally be fine, however he insists on talking at such a low level that he's impossible to understand. He somehow doesn't understand that a microphone would benefit him greatly in a room that is larger than 20 seats.
Final part of my rating. One huge complaint is his poor use of email. He will cancel class by calling someone and having them come to the classroom and tell us, rather than utilizing email like a normal person in the 21st century. I have wasted several hours at school because of this. I'm a commuter and it's my last class; I could have been home.
He is a wonderful man. Is is caring and sincere. He is also really into art, but the class is lecture heavy. Uses presentations with pictures. You never use your book in class, but is helpful on tests. No homework. 3 tests, 2 projects is all there is, so not a lot of points. Doesn't put grades in ever and doesn't know how to use pilot or email.
He can be difficult to understand at times and tended to ramble during lecture. If you don't go to class, you'll miss the art pieces he talks about, which is what the tests are over.
Dr. Frank was a great professor and I would suggest him for anyone who needs a IW class
Honestly most of these reviews are not a real description of this professor. This man cares for each and every student in his class and he will do whatever it takes to help you succeed in his course. SHOW UP TO CLASS and try your best and you will get an A. The negative reviews are likely from students who thought it was okay to skip classes.
This man is one of the most caring and intellectual professors on Wright States campus. SHOW up to class and don't skip because attendance counts for something in this class. He engages each class the same and is very passionate about his work. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, you will not regret it if you show up to class regularly and try your best.
I took his class and thought that he was an excellent professor. He stresses at the beginning of the class that attendance is mandatory and at the end of the semester you would understand why. He gives students chances and is willing to help. He's funny and I would take him again. Just don't expect to know your grade until the end of the semester.
The beginning of the class was scary, most of us bombed the first test. But if you show up and he can see you are trying you will come out with a good grade. He is lenient but it is short lived if missing class becomes habitual for you. I have a lot of respect for this teacher, he genuinely cares. He gives as much effort as you put in.
He gives a lot of options for extra credit, which is very helpful. He is very nice and willing to work with you. However, he doesn't use Pilot, and there are hardly any grades. You really don't know how you're doing in the class until the end of the semester. He does not follow the syllabus in any way, shape, or form.
It's fun when he talks about horrors of Imperialism during Belgian Congo, Rwandan Genocide, Taliban atrocities, and even some of the malevolent African nations instead talking about the art piece in general and its main theme.
Not a freshman type class, good teacher but his style is aimed towards experienced students. I don't think I would of been successful in his class as a new student who isn't fully committed to school.
In the beginning, he is kind of hard to understand but you pick it up as the semester goes on. He is very nice if you talk to him and will go out of his way to engage with you more if you are nice and respectful. If you talk during class he will get mad. Lecture heavy but overall a very nice man.
He is a very knowledgeable individual. He always seems to have one more thing he wants to add in. I have a lot of respect for him, he cares. Love you my favorite teacher.
He's very passionate about the class, and his accent isn't that hard to understand. He's super strict about attendance and cellphones/laptops and will stop in the middle of a lecture to call you out and make you leave. He can be rude when it comes to religion, and he collected our class notes for a grade and hasn't given them back.
Rude when it comes to religion and nationalities. Projects and notes can be interesting. He collected some notes at the beginning of the semester and never gave them back.
Amazing teacher. Passionate about what he is teaching. Very respectful as long as you are respecting him. Cares about his students. If you come to class and participate he will make sure you pass his class.
He is a good teacher, hard to understand but class is very easy. 3 test goes over the material the day before and then 2 projects at the Dayton Art Institute, and one at the Wright States Art Gallery in the art building. Class consist of power point with pictures. Remember names when he points them out and write down details he points out.
If you show up to class, you get extra credit. So show up, do work on time and get an A. However, this man does not know his boundaries when it comes to talking about people's religions, heritage, or origins. So if you're a snowflake and can't handle someone stating their opinion, this is not the class for you!
I did not learn anything in the class. Not sure how I passed, maybe because things went online. I loved the movie and taking the test over it. Hard to understand him and his lectures. His lectures are all over the place. He can get very frustrated when he has to repeat himself.
