hes really good
He's great & hilarious!
If you go to class and read the book, you WILL be ok. Keep up with the work and take decent notes and you'll be all set. Ask for help and you'll get it. Just make sure you don't let your cell go off in his class!
****er is Awesome. The guy knows his stuff and is really funny, which makes learning worthwhile.
Very funny and knows what hes talking about. Makes a lecture class interesting.
this guy knows his stuff and he knows how to relate it to students. there is no homework for the course which is good and bad but if ya just listen to him you really don't need to do much else and with his humorous side comments its not even a hard lectur
great teacher
One of best teachers I've had, makes econ very interesting. Very helpful if you go in for office hours.
He makes the class really interesting and is always there to help you. Plus who doesnt want to hear the story of MAD DOG
great lecturer, curve busters are annoying but other than that great economics professor.
Funny as hell, great teacher. Lectures are never boring and he tells great stories. One of my favorite professors. He even randomly takes students out for lunch as a treat. Curve busters are easy and just meant to take attendance.
Great prof and great guy. Lectures are always interesting, even if you don't care for Eco. Extremely funny and engaging in class. Always willing to help you outside of class. Perfect prof.
He is the best teacher at Lehigh that I've met so far! He is amazing at explaining things and will take time to show you what you don't understand. The final is a huuuge percentage of your grade though, so don't fall behind on the reading, or else catch-up SUCKS!
the best teacher that i've had at lehigh
great teacher
Wonderful teacher! Brings excitement and laughter to Economics.
good class
People aren't lying when they say he is the best professor they've had at lehigh! He's great! He is clear, helpful outside of class, and funny as hell!! I had no interest in economics before his class and he made me love it. Just make sure you keep up on the reading. We go through chapters quickly!
SO hilarious and so effective! He will make you love Economics!
I love the stories he tells when going off on a tangent.
constantly tries to tell jokes, gives unrealistic example problems, will cover one topic of a chapter in class then tell you that you have to understand the whole chapter, ge goofs around too much, doesn't show up for his office hours even tho he only has an hour and a half of office hours per week.
One of the Best lecturers I have ever has in college! Tests are fair (not overly easy or difficult). Truly a wonderful instructor! You couldn't do any better.
pretty easy. have to show up to lecture and do hw though since that stuff is 20 percent of grade.
Really funny and interesting, class isn't completely necessary but go anyway because it's fun. Browse the book, ask your TA questions, and you'll be fine. Tests are completely doable and predictable.
Great professor. He manages to keep the boring material interesting with his outlandish examples and crazy mannerisms. Exams are easy if you study well.
I was dreading taking Eco 1 but having his class made me love economics. He explained things clearly and made it seem practical, plus lecture was almost fun because the guy is hilarious.
Taking eco 001 with him was part of the reason i decided to major in it. Tests weren't bad and the grading was fair. Wonderful teacher, hysterical, really made economics fun.
Great Teacher and very easy class!
Very good professor. In lecture he has a good sense of humor and makes the subject interesting. If you go to lecture and look over the book you will do fine. His exams aren't bad as long as you pay attention and take notes in lecture.
great prof. hilarious, nice, and interesting! not exactly an easy A though so make sure you read the text and go to lecture! study hard before 4 o'clocks and final! if you dont get it, ASK QUESTIONS! or go to his office hours. but make sure you keep up- studying day before exams just doesn't work for this class
Great professor. Entertaining lectures in which you learn everything needed for the exams. Recitations are worthless, although attendance is required for them. Go to lecture every day and take good notes. Exams are very easy if you pay attention in lecture.
Good teacher. Very funny and entertaining. Makes economics enjoyable to learn. His teaching gets much harder as the semester goes on. Not always available for help. The class is a lot of work and the tests are challenging, but overall it is a good class.
He makes economics as interesting as it can be with plenty of stories. Going to lecture is very beneficial (even for unfortunate people who have an 8 am lecture like me). If you study before tests and pay attention, you can do well.
what a great guy. very interesting and very funny. makes an 8am class not too bad. dont space out, because even though its a huge lecture, he will call on you!
Gunter is so cute, and he tells such good stories, but the tests are really, really hard! Recitation really didn't help me all that much, and I ended up not doing that well in the class. Only take it if you really think you will be able to understand economics because I couldn't!
An AMAZING professor! The quizzes were kind of hard, but he's fair about them. Lectures were actually bearable, especially because he tells really good stories. No one from home believed me when I said economics was my favorite class, but because of him, it was!
He is just one of those guys who I know I'll never be as good as. He made 8:00 am lecture the class I looked forward to everyday. Intro to Econ is either incredibly easy or impossibly difficult, depending on the person, but attending lecture is important regardless. He tends to give curve busters at unfair times, though, such as before breaks.
By far the best professor i've had so far at Lehigh. He never fails to make classes and lectures interesting, and he tells great stories. He has legitimate experience in economics so he really knows his stuff, and while it's a hard class no matter who you have, he really makes it much more bearable.
His lectures are fast paced and his stories are fun. Definitely a great way to wake you up with a 7:55 class (hard part is actually getting there). His attendance policy is laxed for the lectures, but his was of checking is through unannounced spur of the moment pop quizzes. He'll do them anytime in the class so don't cut out early.
Don't take this class unless he's teaching! He is an incredibly interesting guy, although he tells the same stories every semester. Go to lecture! Recitation is less important. I found his exams to be harder than I expected and didn't do as well as I hoped. He doesn't do examples so you're only clues are from older exams. But I'm glad I took him.

Great professor, probably the best professor freshman year. Had him as a 7:45 class, which was rough, but if your gonna have a 7:45 class, make sure hes the teacher. He has many jokes and real life references.
awesome teacher.

Very entertaining teacher.....Good grades may be hard to come by depending on your background/study habits. It may not be a reading intensive class, however if you fall behind it may be tough to catch up before the 4 o'clocks and final. BEWARE: The TAs(Teaching Assistants) grade the 4 o'clocks and will make will numerous mistakes on each quiz...be
great teacher, fun guy. Don't have to read the book, but it helps. Every once in while, he gives a quiz to check attendance; recitation is useless. Overall, class was definitely worthwhile
By far one of the best professors Lehigh has to offer. Listen to his thorough but funny lectures. Support his lectures with the chapters. Know how to do each problem on the practice exams and you will completely understand the material.
Probably one of the best professors at Lehigh. His lectures are thorough, but funny! He knows what he's talking about, and you'll learn a lot without even realizing it. Great class.
I love his class! He is a very good teacher who is able to keep the class interested.
HE IS THE MAN!
He keeps me up at 755 in the morning, after only 2 hours of sleep, he is the man
hilarious dude, knows his stuff, lectures always interesting
This teacher is awesome! He is very enthusiastic and has the best ways of teaching the materials. The TA's are not good at teaching. These tests were quite difficult. A lot of studying and understanding of the course material had to be put in. Overall a great class
He is the man. Only guy i know who can get attendance at 755. Reason why i came to lehigh. Haven't had a better prof yet.
great attitude, turned me on to economics
Economic Development was a great class. There were 2 texts and a moderate amount of reading, but it was all accessible. The lectures built upon the material, often from his personal experiences. Tests were bluebook essay tests, but he gave a list of 10 or so questions beforehand, then alluded that 3 - 5 would be asked on the test.
Gunter is one of the best professors I have had. His lectures are entertaining, even at 7:55am. Go to his office hours, he is extremely helpful at explaining the material.
Really, really, great guy. Tests were challenging, but he's super helpful during office hours and has big review sessions before exams. Lecture is also very entertaining. Gives great examples and has some funny stories. Highly recommended.
Terrific professor. Teaches expertly and is very funny. Only downside are exams - rather hard, but probably predictable if textbook (which is good but lengthy) is read. Highly Recommend.
Gunter is hilarious and really helpful. He explains using funny examples and keeps you interested, even if you're in the 7:55 class. Tests are definitely tough, but if you read the textbook you can get an A
Gunter is an awesome professor. He makes going to class at 7:55 worth it.
political economy of iraq was a waste of my time. i didn't learn anything more from his "first hand insight" than i would have from a cnn article. never read the book and rarely went to class-received an a. i will give that he is pretty funny if you bother showing up
Iraq class is interesting although it can certainly get boring. Text books are not required at all. No homework. 1 Test and 1 paper. Class was easy. I left class feeling like I learned stuff, but I can't place my finger on what...
Fantastic lecturer, especially compared to the engineering curriculum i'm in for my other classes. Glad to have atleast 1 class where I can learn something from the professor.
Great professor for first year
Very funny, great first year teacher, full of knowledge on economics
I had never taken an economics or business class so I was a little worried at the beginning of the semester, but he was able to explain the topics in a way that was easy to understand. The textbook is a really good resource but you have to be careful because sometimes he will tell you to disregard certain sections
Great teacher but difficult tests. You don't need to go to class but you should
Absolutely the best professor I have had at Lehigh. Lectures are exciting, tests are fairly easy (just don't skip lecture) and recitations are actually somewhat useful. Class moves very fast and covers a lot more material than the other ECO 001 class. Pop quizzes are given at random and cannot be made up. Also homework is very easy.
Best professor I've had so far, and my favorite class last semester. Definitely recommend going to class because it's interesting and he will provide test information you can't find in the textbook. Reading the textbook and taking the chapter quizzes are extremely helpful. Harder than Hyclak, but definitely worth it, business students especially.
It is correct that his class is hard to get a good grade. However, I suggest you do take his class. By far the funniest prof I have taken. Both Eco 303 and Eco 1.
Explains the material in an interesting and easy to understand way. Exams can be difficult, but if you attended the lectures then you should have a better understanding of the material and be able to do well on them
He is awesome
Awesome teacher, just very hard exams
This man is a legend. Hilarious, nice, interesting, clear. GO TO CLASS.
He's the best and really cares about Econ I love him
GREAT PROFESSOR! Although he is more challenging than the other professor, if you really care about education TAKE HIM INSTEAD. I have him at 7:55am and he does a very good job keeping me awake!
The man. Exams are challenging but having him is well worth it. Top 3 best professors at Lehigh.
If you are in the business school he is definitely the teacher you want for Eco 001. Although he is more difficult than the other professors, you learn a lot more to be applied in the business world. Highly recommend for Business students. Absolutely brilliant teacher. Interesting and engaging.
Very enthusiastic about the subject and a great guy all-round. You won't want to miss a class because of pop quizzes, but also because it's a really entertaining class.
Epitome of a college professor! Knows the material perfectly and is enthusiastic about teaching, but does not hand out easy grades. You have to work hard to learn the material, but he will provide you with everything you need. He is also a funny guy.
his tests are unreasonably hard, he's a good teacher but it's not worth the hit to your GPA
Such a good professor, defiantly a great way to start a day at 8:00 AM. I would love to take this class again.
He's a great professor! His in class examples help you understand the material, and if you pay attention and study you'll do fine on the tests. He's definitely one of the harder professors for eco 1, but he makes it worth it!
General consensus is that he's tougher, but you get way more out of it. Essential if you are a business major. Classes were amazing, great stories! The man, the myth, the legend
Definitely love the man. Interesting and engaging at 7:55. Calls on you on class so you better be paying attention. Definitely the more difficult teacher but you'll learn more than Maria. His tests are pretty hard. I didn't do super well on them. Study and attend office hours.
Amazing professor and definitely knows what he is talking about for Eco 1. He makes the 7:55am lectures interesting so you actually pay attention. The class is really hard, so you have to read the textbook and go to lecture. He doesn't give out a lot of As, so you are going to have to work hard. The tests are really hard.
He curves so the top 15% in the course get an A-. I would've gotten a B but I got an A- because of it. His lectures are great, even for a 7:55. They are a bit nit picky when grading. He says the textbook is mandatory but as long as you show up to every lecture, have a good recitation instructor, and take good notes, you don't need to read it.
Great lecturer. Just a really interesting guy. Very clear on required material
He is the greatest. He is not easy, but he really helps you understand the material.
Office hours are helpful to go to, he has a little chalkboard in his office and will reteach you material that's confusing. If you're thinking about business, I strongly recommend you take his class
He is hilarious. He makes the lectures go by pretty fast with his humor. Examples are good and interesting and the material is taught perfectly. Reading the book really does help. Tests are kinda hard but overall it is worth taking this class. If you have to take this class, definitely take it with him!
Hands-down best teacher I've ever had. I took an intro-level Eco class in high school and had no idea what I was looking. After going through his class, I understood everything in the course. His lectures have a nice balance between information and humor. Pay attention in class and you should be fine.
He is one of the best teachers at Lehigh. His exams are pretty tough but it is a class you really won't mind going to. He tells great stories and keeps you engaged.
My favorite professor by far, and I have him at 7:55 but he makes it worth getting up. Funny, gives examples, takes questions, speaks with passion, if you are at all interested you won't get bored. Attendance important, I have skipped b/c of tiredness a few times, but I took AP Eco in HS. Reading book HELPS but paying attention real key to success.
He is a good professor, but sometimes his jokes are not funny. Outside the classroom he is somewhat helpful, but can have a change of character at times. He doesn't like the class to have a high average so the tests can get hard if people are doing well. Homework due every week.
Better eco teacher than Maria. Good lecturer, makes jokes, has great stories to tell. Only problem he doesn't want a high class average so his tests are difficult
If you read the book before class, the difficulty is like 7/10. If you don't read the book, well, good luck. I think he is very interesting and he will wake . you . up at 8:00 in the morning. If you intend to major in Business, definitely try to take him.
Lectures are exceptional, though it comes at a price as exams are difficult. By no means an easy A - but if you do decide to take it, you'll be treated to one of the best professors Lehigh has to offer. Come to class (pop quizzes), do your hw, and read the textbook to best prepare
Great lecturer, but I personally wouldn't take him again because of the work required to get a decent grade. I'm quite a lazy person though, so if you aren't I would definitely recommend his class. Even being as disinterested in the course content as I was, I still thought it was a fun class.
Definitely an overall challenging course. His grading is tough & his quizzes are difficult (especially the 2nd quiz). HW is easy. Reading the textbook is, in my opinion, helpful & necessary. The curve & final grade are shady. You never know how youre doing in the class & what your end grade will be. Lecture attendance is mandatory. Well respected.
He's a great professor, but he's going to make you work for your grade. Read the textbook chapters either before lecture or after so you don't fall behind. He goes fast, and keeping up will ensure a good grade. He's helpful, so go to office hours if you don't understand something. Purchase the looseleaf textbook it will be your new bible
His tests are extremely hard. Personally, I did not like his style of teaching but his lectures are helpful for the tests. The class is very fast paced, and I would recommend to read the textbook.
ECO001, although difficult, is manageable if you reach out for help and put in hard work and lots of studying. Although heavy lecturer, he tries to make it as entertaining as possible and always has funny stories to tell. I knew nothing about economics but after taking his class, I feel remarkably educated and knowledgeable.
He is one of the best teachers I have ever had. His examples are hilarious and memorable. I would absolutely take his class. I learned so much in his class
The is a lot of hype over this professor. Honestly I thought this was a really difficult class since I had never taken an economics course before. He likes to throw you curveballs on the exams. He curves his class in the end but he doesn't like when people get As.
My favorite professor/teacher ever. You can see how much he cares through his lectures, which are always extremely interesting. Makes boring topics interesting through funny stories & I think that he does a great job at making material seem less complex. Such a great guy. Go to his office hours. It really helps!!
Definitely one of the harder professors, but for good reason. The way he teaches ensures you have a clear understanding of the topic, even if his quizzes may be a bit tougher than other sections. Highly recommend going to his office hours and not skipping class (it's not worth missing a whole lecture or curve buster).
certainly knows material, however I would never take this guys class again. his test are way to hard and on top of that he gives very little information on what to study considering the topics are very big. avoid this man at all cost!!!!!!
Great professor. His anecdotes and story telling in class make the content very memorable, and he calls on people constantly so pay attention. He also has pop quizzes that are basically just attendance with an open note question. The exams aren't too bad, but you essentially need to memorize what he says in class.
Great guy, even better stories. As long as you make it to almost every lecture (7:55 a.m.) and do what he asks of you, the class should be an easy A. I never used the textbook and got a B+, those who really put the effort in did receive A's.
One of my favorite lectures to attend at Lehigh University.
Fantastic guy who made the class fun even if you've never taken econ before. I HIGHLY recommend reading the textbook chapters before the lectures because his lecture notes aren't easy to copy from, and he moves through material fast. the tests aren't hard if you keep up, but can have some annoyingly specific grading criteria, so go to class!
He makes lectures interesting. He has 1 question open note quizzes 6 times a semester in lecture which count. Study for tests and material continuously repeated.
His lectures are really good except he doesn't use any slides and just writes random things on the board so you can't zone out even for a minute or else you'll get really lost. Everyone made me nervous for the tests but if you study and read the book they are super manageable. If you do well enough on first 2 exams you don't have to take the final.
Amazing professor. Takes the time to make sure that students enjoy his course. He uses funny examples to help during lectures. He does not use slides, so you have to take notes. He gives curve busters, so you have to show up if you want those points. Exams are hard, and they are weighted very heavy, so make sure to study for them.
I'm actually quite sad that I probably won't have the opportunity to take him again. He's an awesome guy who actually manages to make economics semi-enjoyable. He also said the best way to study from the TB was to read the summaries at the back of each chapter so yeah, just saved you a bunch of reading.
Tests are way too compare to the other professor. Hates electronics so you have to take notes by hand which is stupid. Pop quizzes to check attendance at 8 am lectures. Really? He certainly knows the material very well but lectures can be boring. All it matters for ECO 001 is you get a good TA since recitations will explain everything better.
On Day 1, he tells you that lecture + recitation + textbook an A in his class, and it's 100% true. You will do really well if you understand the (interesting) lectures and read the end-of-chapter summaries before the tests. (And as of Spring 2020, you can't opt-out of the final by doing well on previous exams.)
Probably the best professor I have ever had. He presents the material clearly. He also connects the topics to real life and is very funny, making it easier to pay attention in class.
Took this online. Made tests really hard and not enough time to finish.
All of his lectures besides the first one were not live. I heard he was a lot better in person. Lectures are boring. If you are interested in economics you will do well. Many people fail this class.
This class was a headache! I took this during COVID where we recorded his lectures and they were not entertaining at all. He expects you to retain all of the smallest information for a final that is 120 questions within the frame of 3 hours. It was not a good experience and his lectures were very unhelpful and boring.
Maybe it was the online learning. But this class was quite literally the most awful class I had ever taken.
Straight up bad. I know in person he is much better but talking at 1mph over slides is not the way to teach. Tests were way too hard and make up 75% of your grade. Also the way he handled the final exam situation is reprehensible. 1hr in you decide to cancel the final and make us START OVER later that day. Awful way to treat your students.
did this class remotely, pre-recorded all the lectures and expected us to retain everything. tests were too hard, time limit for the midterms and final was too small; questions were too hard. Class was disorganized and too hard in general. Expects you to read textbook for each chapter, but it's unfeasible. the curvebusters (quizes) are stupid.
Seems like a good prof, but the class was online so all lectures were pre-recorded. No student to prof interaction except for office hours. Midterms and exams were really hard and the amount of reading expected is an overkill. Based what I saw off of office hours, he seems like an interesting prof just wait until the class is in person.
He is an amazing guy that really wants his students to do well. Graded by only a few quizzes, so be sure to study! I personally found his office hours every week to be helpful. The tests are tough, but ensure you really know economics.
He doesn't even do any of the teaching and just reads off the slides when he does the lectures. He is an old school teacher who needs to change his grading syllabus because it is way too specific and he is never clear what he wants. He means well but overall is extra tough for no reason.
He barely taught our class. The tests were usually unnecessarily hard too. Make sure you keep up with the textbook reading as that's where I got most of the content from.
Very easy class, the AP micro and macro exams both test far greater depth than his tests. If you pay attention in lecture, do the homework (less than an hour per week), and look over the textbook for 3-5 hours before each of the three tests, you should get an A.
While I enjoyed his lectures, I wish the test questions were a bit more straightforward.
He made the 7:55 lectures funny. He was a great professor, the subject itself is hard but he made it interesting.
The lectures are actually fun and informational. Just a warning he only teaches at 7:55am so prepare to be up early. He gives pop quizzes as a way to take attendance some days, but they are always easy. He stop grading in the middle of the semester and his final exam was actually hard. His review sessions are not very helpful. Other exams were easy
Nice professor that made lectures engaging. TA typically does all the grading for homework and exams. You can submit corrections/arguments for potential regrade but not always guaranteed. Definitely not the easiest professor to take the class with.
I really enjoyed having Professor Gunter. His lectures are so interesting and he manages to make it very easy to pay attention at 8 in the morning. I thought it was very easy to understand the material just from lecture which made the class easy to do well in.
Professor Gunter is an awesome professor with a really interesting background in economics. He is a great lecturer and very engaging. If you study and put in the work you will do fine. He is also easily accessible and easy to talk to.
He is so problematic and should be fired. Every thing he says is so sensitive and lacks any critical thinking.
Gunter is a very passionate guy and keeps lectures interest and engaging and is very energetic. If you don't like being called on I suggest you sit in the back bc he cold calls people a lot. You don't have to go to every class to do well but he does do popquizzes rarely. He is definitely harder than Marija but is a good prof. Read the textbook IMO.
Prof. G is a very knowledgable person so if you want to learn take him. You will have to put time outside of class to succeed and you have to show up to every lecture. His lectures are often fun and engaging and make economics actually worth your time. His job is to teach you, he is not in charge of grading you so don't take it up with him.
Prof Gunter is decent, his lectures are entertaining and he usually tries to explain things in a way students understand. Although its a 200 person lecture, attendance is essential because missing a single class will set you back A LOT.
Amazing professor, amazing lectures. It's important to attend all the lectures and recitations and TAKE GOOD NOTES because new information (not in the textbook) is presented that shows up on exams. In terms of reading, chapter summaries and vocab are probably enough prep for exams. Overall a fun class and if you put in a bit of work you'll do well.
Very hard quizzes.
Professor Gunter did a great job teaching this class. Was able to keep it interesting, was able to break down concepts and it was easier for me to understand. Also, very good at keeping students involved.
Gunter is very knowledgeable in his field. He makes lectures interesting but you do have to purchase a textbook (rec. the online one by Pearson but it is $8.99 p/m - use features!). There is only 3 exams that are worth a good portion of your grade so be sure to study. Attendance not require but does random pop assignments worth 5% of grade. He's ok
Professor Gunter is easily the best professor I've had at Lehigh. I found his lectures very engaging and truly looked forward to coming to his class. He DOES call on people at random, but even if you get the question wrong he will usually make a quick funny remark and move on. I learned so much from him, and I recommend taking him for ECO 001.
Won't fail to make you laugh but it may be awkward for you when he randomly calls on you and you don't know the answer. I didn't like his style of teaching and switched to Marija. He has a total ban on computers/phones (will call you out in a 200 person class). Was sad to leave because his class was fun but I learned much better in Marija's.
Certainly one of the more interesting teachers I've had at Lehigh. Every class is a lecture, which can get a little boring at times but he asks enough questions and tells some funny stories to make it somewhat entertaining. Not a difficult class if you read the textbook and study a moderate amount.
I found Gunter to be pretty engaging during lectures. This class is pretty straight forward memorization. Being present and engaged at lecture is very important as he dishes out pop quizzes and some of the test material can not be found in the textbook. AP HS economics makes this class much easier if you were lucky enough to have taken macro/micro.
He was pretty funny and told some good stories, but he would call you out in a room of 200 people if you used your phone, or call on you randomly to answer a question. He also had pop quizzes during lectures. I liked his personality, but I feel like his lectures were not super effective at helping me retain information. Reading the textbook helps.
Gunter is a cool professor. Lecture heavy because he does not post lecture notes and definitely READ the textbook. His exams were fine as long as you went over lecture notes and the textbook, they were graded easy. He calls on people in class but it's a blessing in disguise as it keeps your attention for the lecture. HW is light and quick to do.
HIGHLY RECCOMEND going to his office hours. As the content got more challenging, his office got pretty crowded. He curves at the end (15-20% of people get an A or an A-). As long as you read the textbook and pay attention during lectures, you should do ok. He does make "curvebusters" which are basically attendance checks.
Gunter's lectures are engaging and easy to listen to, while the content can occasionally be hard to understand. He loves to cold call and will use pop quizzes as pseudo attendance, we had 7 throughout the semester. Don't miss class, take good notes, and make sure to review them and you should be fine.
Nice guy who tells a lot of stories during his lectures. Calls on random people during lectures so make sure you understand what is going on. Attendance and textbook reading are basically mandatory if you want to get a good grade.
This man needs to retire yesterday, but besides that, he's alright. His lectures suck, most of the time he just mumbles or talks about nonsense so when he randomly calls on you in a 200 person lecture hall, you have no idea what's going on. If I could retake this class, I would take it with Marija for sure.
Engaging lectures, but requires diligence. Gunter likes to cold call and use pop quizzes, so stay on top of the textbook and take good notes. unstuck ai was a lifesaver for review.
Gunter is a hilarious and caring teacher. Go to lecture, and take notes. Exams truly make or break your grade, so study hard and take notes. Fun class, don't be afraid, but don't take it easy.
Most of the people in my class dropped
Professor Gunter is by far my favorite professor this semester. Go to office hours. Even if you don't have questions office hours are so helpful and he gives you a lot of examples that are REALLY similar to the problems on the exams. If anyone is hating on Gunter, its because they're failing the class.
Professor Gunter is an okay professor, but he doesn't use slides, and stuff said in lectures is tested on the exams, so attendance is mandatory. The class is very textbook-heavy, and you will fall behind if you aren't reading. I wouldn't take a class with him again just because I'm not good with lecture/reading-based stuff. Beware of curve busters.
Good lectures as the lesson plans are literally burned into his brain. His exams aren't the easiest, but they're better than maria's. People get mad when they don't read the textbook, don't go to lectures, and *somehow* get a bad grade. Show up to the class that you're paying for and you'll be fine.
gunter's teaching style is not for me. no slides, just freestyling. and we didn't get through all the material in time for the exam. there's a huge emphasis on textbook reading, which takes hours. definitely a class you need to put effort in. keep up with reading and go to office hours.
Gunter is awesome. All around a super wholesome guy who obviously has a huge passion for what he teaches. One of my favorite professors to date. His lectures are engaging and kept me awake at 8am. If you pay attention in class, take good notes, and study you'll do well in the course.
lectures were at times disorganized & we were always behind the schedule in the syllabus. he attempts to be engaging in lectures, which I appreciate, but still a boring class. wish there was more homework / practice sets rather than occasional ones to really practice with what we learned.
Professor Gunter is passionate about what he teaches and gives you real world examples all the time. However, he expects everyone to read the textbook and there will be questions on the test that are in the textbook that he hasn't covered in class. We were behind schedule the entire semester and had to teach myself last 4 chapters for the final.
Great lecturer, funny and gives great examples. Homework is a joke and does nothing to help in the class, but at least it's easy and only takes like 20 minutes to do once a week. READ THE TEXTBOOK The lectures are not enough to get you by. Honestly, you'd be better off skipping class and just reading the textbook than going and not reading.
everyone says this class is so hard but it really isn't. it's not easy, but if you pay attention in lectures and do the reading and make sure to study with lecture notes, the textbook, and vocab words you should be good. his lectures are pretty good, nothing that special. he does cold call on at least 10-15 students per class so be ready take notes
Engaging professor. It's clear he loves economics and he's mastered teaching ECO001. Study up for the tests, because that's gonna make or break your grade.
He does not post notes, and his lectures are hard to follow sometimes because you just have to follow everything he is saying. I did not like his teaching style but do not think he is a bad teacher. If you need help GO SEE HIM. The recitations and textbook SUPPLEMENT his lectures which I think is a little backwards, but he's very nice.
Imagine studying your butt off for the exam, go to office hours and gives you the same thing you did in lecture and you take the practice exam and it is over a 85% and then you go take the midterm and then it is nothing like the exam. Almost threw up frl. He is lowkey funny though. If you miss one lecture, cooked.
I personally didn't like his style of teaching. I learn better from a presentation with all the information shown to you. He just draws on a chalkboard and there are so many subsets of questions within one topic that made this honestly my hardest class.
He was super funny and his lectures were entertaining but the tests were very difficult. Don't take this class unless you have a natural propensity for economics. One good thing is that if you are on the cusp of failing or feel like you aren't doing well they will bump up your grade. ONLY IF YOU COMPLETE THE CURVE BUSTERS AND GO TO RECITATION.
One of my favorite lecturers to date and I have a lot of respect for him. The exams combine content from recitations, lectures, and the textbook, so if you keep up with your reading, it helps a lot. Go to office hours too, he re-explains but does not re-teach his content. And be careful of random pop quizzes.
Funny dude but hard exams. Econ is one of those subjects that if you don't get it, you don't get it. And Gunter didn't exactly help with that.
Econ is a very “either you get it or you don't” thing, but he at least made it make sense where he could so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Overall one of the most interesting professors I had at Lehigh so far.The only thing I have to complain about was that once I submitted an attendance check late and he scolded me for it(in retrospect I should have gone up to him and handed it instead of waiting for him to come to my seat.Hoped it would attract less attention towards me but failed )
Super nice guy and great professor, Econ is just a hard class. Gunter does not use any slides and also does not allow technology in class, which is the major difference between him and Maria. Go to his office hours!!
Gunter is a great lecturer—go to class even if it's not required. Homework and practice problems differ from the exams since TAs do HW and he writes the exams. You really need to "get it" or you'll struggle. I did, and it was tough. Office hours helped, but I should've also gone to tutoring. Use all the support you can.
Lectures are interesting but it's almost impossible to pass this class, all my friends withdrew. TAKE ECO 001 ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!!
Great professor, its a shame that he is retiring. However, his class was difficult, you really need to put in work to get a "A." Def kept me up at 8am
