Seems kinda strict, but is alright. He belittles people if they answer wrong.
Can be very funny in his own way; tests are essay and multichoice.
He is not a bad teacher. He just hates students.
He is the worst teacher ever. He is not a friendly Prof..and wouldn't recommend
strict but knows his stuff, available if you need him
makes you work, but you learn a lot about yourself.
Doesn't respond well to student's questions. But it's a relatively simple class, come take your notes and pay attention. Just be prepared by reading the chapter. There is not much more but a couple tests and a paper.
HARD! Doesnt help you out at all, especially when the whole class went to catholic school and your the only one from public school and doesnt know a damn thing

this guy doesnt care about the student------ only follows this outline in order to feel good about himself
boring. tests r straight off notes. 1 six page paper and 2 tests, 1 final.
He's a good teacher, but class is a bit boring. Tests come strictly from notes - make sure you study your notes from top to bottom. He's a pretty good-looking guy, but quite reserved. 2 tests + 6 page paper + final exam = your grade.
Please if you have him now do yourself a favor by reading the chapter at least twice. He's no joke, he really knows his stuff and expects the same from his students. The good thing is the reading material is easy to understand.

of course you have to work, this is college, hes not that hard though...go to class, take notes and get an A
HE'S A VERY SMART MAN AND IT IS OBVIOUS THAT HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT. HE GIVES A TON OF INFORMATION THERFORE IF YOU DON'T TAKE NOTES, YOU ARE SCREWED UP THE ASS.. DON'T FALL ASLEEP IN CLASS LIKE I DO.HE'S PRETTY BORING SO IT'S SORT OF HARD NOT TO
He was an absolutely amazing teacher. He challenged your thoughts and your beliefs. Not many teachers do that anymore. He really made you think and become interested in the material. One of the best professors I had at the university- Very intelligent
One of St. Johns best teachers. The schools really needs more teachers like him, that really care about the students!
Do not listen to those people, maybe he had a good semester, but last semester he was mean. He belittled and made you feel like you were nothing for answering a question wrong. Maybe all those complaints from his Fall'02 class finally woke him up.
he's very straight forward, 2 test, 1 final, 1 paper, add up and average in is your final grade. but he gives out Extra credit , which helps you a lot on your grade.
Great professor! He's clear and straightforward with assignments, tests, and teaching.
Dr. Holland is a really good professor, however, the amount of work is somewhat demanding. But he is very fair and direct with his expectations. Also, he has an accent so be wary.
he's one of my fav. teachers at SJU, TAKE HIS CLASS, youll learn mad **** AND pass!
The 2nd required Catholic Theology class that he taught wasn't that bad. There is alot of work and study needed to be done in order to get a wanted grade. I would recommend him, but be prepared to do work and also don't disrupt his teaching, he gets mad.
He is an amzing teacher!! Yes, he can be snippy at times butI learned so much from him.. He really gets you thinking. He is a real teacher. Not like the rest of the teachers at sju. The people who don't like work for their grades and learn. TAKE HIM!
Is a Fair Teacher, gives a nice big curve but tests are a big part of your grade, If You try you'll do good
Explains things well, Sometimes uses the textbook, but gives a lot of extra credit and curves big. Hard Exams but if you prepare u should do good.
has a weird accent and i couldn't understand him. tests were very very VERY hard. makes u take alot of notes. VERY boring. i still passed though.
he's ok
He knows his stuff and he's a good professor but don't take his class if plan on sleeping. If you sleep, or don't take notes or anything like that he will jump down your throat.
He's not at all so demanding - he's just very clear about his expectations. If u read the book, u'll do well. On the tests, u get what basically is in the book. He even gives u his notes. Has an accent which is kinda cute. I'd take him again :)
Say what you will people, but I think he is darn HOT !!! Plus, he is extremely smart. Way to go Dr. Holland !!! ;-)
good teacher; easy tests (if you read the notes + textbook - which isn't a lot anyway), lectures not so boring, so take him, I'd recommend ...
So long as you don't mind showing up to class and taking notes, and I do mean take notes, you'll pass with at least a B. He's easy, simple, and is not at all demanding. Just do what is asked of you and you'll be alright. He's a really good teacher.
Bad class, very unclear when he teaches but, grades kinda easy
If you like taking notes that's scribble all over the place and reading boring books about religion, then he's your guy.
if u showed interst n worked u did fine, some were just lazy n losers
RECOMMEND
wa wa wa wa. that's what i heard whenever he talked in that thick irish accent. i did alright in the class, but i just had trouble comprehending what exactly he was trying to teach about theology. i don't even remember anything about that class.
Very Hard and Mean!
he write chicken scratch on the board - talks with a thick accent. takes 5 mins just to figure out what question he's asking on the test, then you have to try and answer it. boring. you'll learn nothing. tough grader. drop him NOW
read his notes and textbook. not a problem. if you work u do fine. if u study, exam not hard
The absolute worst professor. Incredible amount of work for a basic theology class. He makes you do community service and a presentation and 3 tests. And you cant understand whats he saying. Thick accent.
I HATE HIM ... HORRIBLE TEACHER!!!!!
take him
WORST PROFESSOR OF MY LIFE. He tries to fit in about 2 semesters of theology into one class. Speaks so fast with such a thick accent, he doesn't give himself time to breathe. I dreaded going to this class and I suggest you take someone else..
There's nuthin great about him.U'll never get out of class early & he covers 2 much material.Tests are always MC wit 2 essays.Thick accent.Paper due at end of term.2 f***** paranoid about plagarism & will bite ur head off if ur papr is xceptionally GOOD.
I should be getting paid- heavily, to be in that class! He is paranoid and PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE! Scary man! What is he saying? He always talks fast as hell w/his thick accent!& when u ask him 2 repeat, he briefly looks @ the ceiling in annoyance & repe
gives his lecture notes out and paper is straight forward. Not a big deal if u read and keep up.
A great professor who made me better myself
GReat TEacher
the absolute worst! do not take him
He know's he has a thick accent- 1 would think he would be a little fair and slow down! Simply put, this guy is a joke! Do NOT TAKE- only if it is ur last resort, even then, Don't!
I have no problem understanding him, I also have the text book and the notes he kindly gives. With some work I have been doing well in his class Recommend!
Straight forward and clear
No problems
can be challenging but fair understated humor good if you do the work but he gives all his notes
dr. holland is extremely knowledgeable; if you want to learn, he has the information. Very interesting even at 8AM on a Monday. Pay attention, take copious notes, and work hard on the paper and you'll get at least a B
WORST ACCENT EVER
great course
he gives notes and textbook- if u cant get hi accent - its no problem for me ; i read text and his notes; no problem so far; easy good grade if u put some work in
Dr. Holland is great. He is caring and nice. However, he can be snappy, so don't sleep in class. Overall a great teacher. I am a happy customer.
Very tough professor but very good teacher. Very professional individual who doesn't like horsing around. Doesn't get too attached to his students.
a challenge but learned alot. reccommend
Boring, boring boring. worst profesor ever point blank.
got good grade here; enjoyed this course cos i guess i worked, too many who complain cos they just didnt work -- its college....
you guys get a grip - yeah blame anyone else but yourselves , try community college, hey i studied i got an A - wasnt hard, go bore urselves, duh ...
no problems here with him
kissing a$$ is the way 2 pass his class
follows text, sends his notes to all by email, tests are difficult but has extra credit...have to earn your grade by reading the book and actually writing your own paper, very helpful if you talk to him
very good teacher but you have to work for your grade...very interesting
helpful; gives out all his notes; available to talk too; no problem is you pay attention to notes and text book
Good teacher. Makes class interesting, but you have to work for your grade.
good; gives out alot of notes, can be snippy, comes across harder than he is, knows his stuff, take him if yo are ok with working.
came from a public school never learned anything about theology and got an A- in his class. hav to work hard read textbook and notes provided... showing up to class helps.. do the extra credit it helps 2 ..... test can be little 2 detailed .. oh .. theres a 12 pg term paper
you guys are all retarted...this guy was mad hard and he gives wayy to much work for a simple core class..try to take another professor if you can
clear about what he wants; helpful; dry humor;gives out his notes; passionate about his stuff -take him
class is boring, gives way too many notes...tests are take home...keep up with the readings and u will be good..
I didnt do well in this class but that had nothing to do with Prof. Holland. He is a great teacher and anyone who wants a good foundation in theology should take his class. Id give him an A
VERY smart and interesting guy. If you show up to class and pay attention, you can probably get an B+ or higher without even studying for the tests. One term paper (its long but not hard at all). offers 7 points on your FINAL GRADE if you do the extra credit assignment. I would recomend him
I GOT A C- IN HIS CLASS AND I'M A STRAIGHT A STUDENT. HE'S UNAPPROCHABLE, MEAN & THIS CLASS IS WAY TOO HARD TO BE A CORE CLASS NO ONE CARES ABOUT! I HATE HIS EFFING ACCENT TOO. AVOID HIM FOR YOUR OWN GOOD-- TRUST ME!
This is my hardest class and it has nothing to do with my major! He's smart, but he's certainly not giving away A's.
for a theology teacher, he's decent. the class is fast-paced and requires tons of note-taking. the exams are difficult but you definitely have to study and he basically tells you the essay ?'s before hand. he definitely is approachable and nice.
Excellent professor. Knows his stuff and keeps class interesting. Course picks up pace quickly and it is NOT an easy A; you have to earn your grade. Take notes and study! Well worth it because you get your money's worth - you'll LEARN.
This guy is soooo boring!!!!, he thinks he is GOD!, talk about his son Jesus. He gave us a 6 page paper on the topic he chooses, and gives you the books you have to read, no online sources. Can't bring laptop to class, thinks you are not taking notes if you do bring it. Test cover topics not in book
Not an easy professor, but a very good one. He knows what he is talking about and does go at a quick, but tolerable, pace. An A is possible but you need to take extensive notes and most of the test comes from his notes. I would take him again.

Interesting class; gotta work but I got an A; I reccommend him; he knows his stuff
tests are easy but the class is somewhat confusing at times. a lot of note taking is require for this class, and he is sometimes unclear. but overall, he is not that bad for a theology professor.
hard, boring, long.
He might not be easy, but you really do learn in his class. He E-mails you notes and thats all you really have to study. I got an A in the class and it wasn't that hard. If you really want to learn and are gonna put an effort to going to class I strongly suggest taking this class.
This class was boring at times with all the note taking but I did learn a lot from this class.Good teacher, very specific, don't be intimidated-he's really very helpful and funny in a sweet, dry way .Do the homework and the extra-credit and you'll be fine. Good introduction to theology, I'm glad I took him and I got an A.
He gives a lot of notes and rushes a bit, but ask him to repeat things and pay close attention when taking notes. His exams are tight, 2 essays and M/C but its doable. He makes the material interesting and is always around for extra help. There's 1 term paper which is ok. You can give it to him to check and he gives good feedback.
A great respectable teacher, but his class is a challenge. If you want to go for the hat trick take this class
He's such a cool guy. His tests are not hard if you actually pay attention and the paper he makes you do is quite simple. I didn't even go to class for like the last two weeks because he's trememdously boring and yet somehow managed to get an A - go figure. Be nice to him and he'll be really nice to you. =) - i recommend him.
Extremely boring class, just talks and talks all class, no real discussions. Avoid a all COST!!!!!!!!
Nice guy. E-mailed the entire class day before classes started to say "Hi". Down to earth.
good teacher.. gives LOTS of notes but as long as you study them and pay attention its an easy A.. 7 pg term paper but its relatively easy & he doesnt grade it hard.. take him if u can
he's a great teacher and he also very smart. take good notes, go to class and you'll get an A.
Very good guy. He is smart and knows what hes saying. Its unfortunate that there is so much material he has to go through in 1 semester and therefore rushes a bit, and its a lot of notes. but tests are non-cum, 1 six page paper, and extra credit. sincere and cares. cool guy, just short 1 paragraph homewroks he gives, but nothing to complain about.
He is a smart guy. He really tries his best to make sure that all the students understand what he is teaching. Tries to encourage class participation..even when he gets blank stares. overall good teacher.
he damn well knows the subject, he is very clear in explaining the topic if u study and r prepared for class u would be fine in his class
He explains everthing very cleary and is always open to questions. The only thing i didnt like about the way he teaches is that when he gives a test you dont know what to study. The notes can be like 40pgs long and you have to choose for yourself what to study and the part that you may emphasize more may not be on there.
If you read the slides thats not enough, you have to read the textbook trust me it helps a lot! And since he emails you notes take down the notes he says in class they help a lot on tests! But overall he is a good and understandable professor!!

SUUUUUCKS SOOOO MUCH! HARD, NOT VERY NICE TO STUDENTS, NOT UNDERSTANDING. STERN AND KNOWS TOO MUCH FOR HIS OWN GOOD. I WISH I DROPPED HIM.
He gives a lot of notes and that may seem daunting. But Prof. Holland is highly knowledgeable in the realm of theology. He has true mastered the discipline and it is apparent through his teaching methods. If theology is not your forte, do not take him. He will be an asset to your education if you value theology.
This Guy sucked really bad, his work is too Dam hard for a required core class that no one wants to take, he is not understanding of people's personal issues, very anal...Just stay away if you want to keep your GPA up.
Knows alot about his subject. Lots of notes. Great accent!! However, he can be very boring!!! Over all good guy
The book is not essential. He lectures quite a lot. His lectures are on PPT and everything he says MAY be on the test so you must pay attention. His lectures are long and can get confusing. His tests are MC and two essays. It is a lot of material. I found the class to be at a "college-level", so you must be in class, pay attention and STUDY.
gives tests that's based on the slides, so if u study them (he emails them to you) You should do pretty good. The funniest thing is the look on his face when he asks a question and everyone responds with a blank stare. But he's nice, passionate about the topic...very boring tho.
Very passionate about his subject, Holland goes to all ends to complete a years work in one term. The slides he gives are just a preface to the EXTRA notes you will be writing. I recommend you be awake and alert in his class, and only take an hour class. Three exams and a research paper. 25% each. Simple. Read the book - it's the same as his notes.
alot of notes but fair
very knowledgeable on the topic, tests are pretty decent if you study enough, hw is extra credit, take him if you actually wanna learn something...NOT a guaranteed A...have to work for it
Dr. Holland is a great professor. His accent is so sweet. He's very passionate and goes into depth. I could've done better in that class. Basically due homework and participate it's extra credit, and study the slides on flash cards...you'll pass the tests, not hard at all, just factual. Goes out of his way to help students so anyone should do fine!
This is a good professor. Very passionate about the subject. You must attend class though, to know what is going on. Pros: Almost all his notes from lectures are presented on powerpoint slides and you can access them online anytime. If your known to take naps during class, dont take him, he will shout you out in a hurry and takes it personal.
i had a rough start at st johns and this man made it a lot worse. not a good person. horrible professor. tough grader.
good professor, u have to work tho but fair
Work load can be tough but he is fair about grading. If you put in the work you can get a good grade from him. He is very passionate about the subject and really wants students to learn the material not just memorize it. Prof. overall is a good teacher.
good professor who cares for his subject. not an easy class, but not tough either. it takes effort. if you pay attention during class you'll be fine. powerpoint notes, so if you read that, your good. hes a fair grader and knows his stuff.
No personality whatsoever. Extremely boring class. Tests are multiple choice and 2 essays. It's not that hard if you pay attention, but the class is so boring that it's extremely diffuicult to do so. I would definitely NOT recommend.

good class, knowlegeable, not easy but if u work, is an A
goood
3 exams and Paper, fair not an easy A but if u work its ok
not an easy A but if you work its ok 3 exams and Paper gives out his notes
He is a really hard professor. You have to really study for his test. homework is extra credit.. do it! it could help... hes a nice guy just difficult. take notes and pay attention.. you really have to earn your grade.. it does not come easy...
DO NOT take this guy!!! this was one of the most boring classes i have ever taken. It is ridiculosly hard. His tests are hard,a and he gives millions of notes that are just jibberish. The tests aren't easy and he gives a dumb paper and is obssed with weird theologians. He's a nice guy but the maeraial is just not even close to being interesting.Don'
WOW HES HARD! But he knows his stuff I must admit. Pay close attention to what he says and copy everything he writes on the board and take notes! Do the hw its extra credit and theres a 10pg term paper at the end of the semester
Holland is the man! ....hes a great professor. Yes he is a bit difficult but he knows the material and will always make sure the student is on the right track.. take him if your not lazy.. hw, attendence, participation = 5pts extra credit.. 2 exams, a 1700 word paper (7 pages) and a final.. im definitely taking him again!
I would not recommend Dr.Holland to any student. He is not lenient and he is a hard grader. He lectures the whole entire class which can be very boring. He does not let you know what will be on the exams and the final was extremely hard.
i learned alot in his class. Its not that hard he gives you all his notes so just pay attention and y0u will do well - i did
not an easy A but he gives xtra credit. he knows his stuff and gives out his notes in advance
Lots of notes no midterm. tough teacher.
I wouldn't take him if you are not extremely interested in theology. I had to take his class to graduate and it is as hard as my financial management and managerial accounting courses. He is a nice and understanding guy, but I just found most of what he taught BS
does not tolerate inattention or messing around but rewards good effort. 2 exams, final and a paper...
Great teacher, but if you arent the academic type dont take this classs he will be as frustrated with you as you will be with the class
It's a really boring class to take but he give you alot of information introducing Christianity. There's 2 exams, 1 final, and a 1700 word paper. he average the the 4 grades together to get ur final grade. its hard to get an A from him. but he awards good effort
fast pace but if u keep up its not too hard difficult but fair exams, very helpful if u ask him
Don't expect your A to come on a silver platter. You have to study! Try your best to be attentive and be punctual. His exams are hard, and you get three of them. Homework is extra credit, and a 10 page paper is required. Procrastinators are warned. Also, study groups work wonders.
Wonderful Professor, it is a bit challenging because his lessons are straight from a power-point but if you take notes on each section of the slides and study, you'll get the grade you deserve!
He is a great teacher, very thorough. if you do not understand he'll explain till you do. His class is a very tough class though, you need to be a studious and diligent worker to receive an A in his class. He's Irish so he speaks at the speed of light so be able to take notes quickly (abbreviate). Alot of what he says appears on tests.
best professor ive learned from thus far. Show him that you are interested in his class and pay attention and you should be able to do good. Doesn't like idiots/who leave early/and sleep in his class. He is very fair. H is tests were fair too, focus on his lectures and get the main points down & you will do good. got an A
BORRRRIIINNNNGGGG! tests are extremely hard even if you study for hours on end. doesnt use text book. assumes you know all the information and builds on that. i had a 3.8 gpa prior and had a c- in this class. dont take him!
This guy isnt as difficult as everyone makes him out to seem. There are three exams and four papers. Textbook is needed to go over things that you dont understand while in class. He uses powerpoints to teach and is pretty much an ok guy.
show up to class with your laptop and type everything he says. whatever he says WILL BE ON EXAM. you should go to class because missing one day will put you behind. study groups are REALLY helpful to compare notes. HOT accent. talks too fast. textbook is for yur use if you want to. grades FAIR. 3 tests 1 paper. not a bad guy. I enjoy going to class
He's one of the best professors you could learn from; very intelligent. He's clear and does an amazing job explaining everything. Not difficult. If you take detailed notes and study hard, an A is definitely attainable. A laptop is necessary because he talks at lightening speed. He's a nice guy and has an EXTREMELY hot accent.
This has to be the worst class i've taken in my life. The class is supposed to be about Discovering New York and all you learn are the religions of the world. If you can change to a different professor for DNY THEN PLEASE DO... YOU WILL LEARN NOTHING.
The tough part was the 7 am start but he tried to keep it interesting. I learned alot about NYC especially the trips into the city we did.
the kid under with the dny comment, every dny teacher teaches from some perspective, whether its theo, english, philo, etc. so holland is doing his job. prof. holland is one amazing guy. he talks WAY TOO fast, but is really helpful and intelligent. u will need a laptop 2 survive in class. take good notes and u will be fine. take him! hot accent :)
great professor. only take if you can type fast on laptop to take down word for word what he says. you'll gain an appreciation of christainity and theology over all. do what you're supposed to do and you'll get an A. that's what i got. DON'T TAKE IF YOU'RE GOING TO HANDWRITE HIS NOTES.
He's a great professor and knows what he's talking about. He talks faster than the speed of light so typing notes is essential if you want to do well on the tests, which aren't so bad if you pay attention to what he says. He's a really nice grader, but has illegible handwriting..he's definitely willing to help you if you don't understand something.
He is not a bad guy. He gives a lot of information really fast and its hard to understand what hes saying. His tests are pretty hard so study for them but other than that it wasn't terrible.
Excellent prof. It is not going to be and easy class by any means, you have 3 tests and 1 paper. His testes are hard, but if you pay attention, take good notes, and study you should do fine. He has an Irish accent but he is easy to understand. He is def. one of the smartest people iv ever met, always has an answer for your questions. definitely take
He is a pretty boring professor but he puts notes up on the board and you just copy them. His tests are hard but if you study you can do well. He also has the notes online. He is an okay teacher.
Terrible. Avoid
fair grader.. gives you his notes on powerpoint in advance. Helpful if you approach him. knows his stuff, take him if you want to learn.
He's honestly the best (and most intelligent) theology teacher I've ever had (I'm trying to take him again). All of the info he gives is a little intimidating at first, but it gets easier to handle. Be sure to take notes AND listen because you will NOT be able to pass on the powerpoint notes alone. It's not a hard class, just study. I got an A.
He is an AMAZING professor. He makes Theology EXTREMELY fascinating, and I'm agnostic. He does seem overwhelming at first because there's so much to learn but he's extremely fair and helpful. You learn A LOT. Almost impossible to fall asleep. I'd definitely take him again if possible. Hot accent too! haha
He is an AMAZING professor. He makes Theology EXTREMELY fascinating, and I'm agnostic. He does seem overwhelming at first because there's so much to learn but he's extremely fair and helpful. You learn A LOT. I'd definitely take him again if possible. Hot accent too! haha
Bottom-line: STUDDDDYY!!!!!!
Holland gives decently hard tests, speaks quickly and makes theology harder than it has to be, but if you read his slides you should be okay. grades the paper he assigns really generously and adds 5 pts onto OVERALL avg if you do his mini hw assignments. He's very bright and as long as you make some decent effort, you should get an A.
This class is extremely difficult. You will have to put in hours of study time and its really up to you to take good notes. Just studying the powerpoint slides won't just do.You do learn alot however, but if your not willing to work do not take this course.
I would just advise you to not take his class at all and if you get stuck in it, drop it before you have to withdraw. I had a 4.0 GPA but got an F in his class and ended up with a 3.7. Ruined my transcript. This class is extremely difficult. His tests are beyond hard. He doesn't give out assignents to bring up your grade or anything. Avoid.
He's not the hardest prof you'll come across, but he is pretty difficult. He'll go off the ppt often, so make sure you jot down everything he says. He talks a bit quickly (with an accent no less..) but he's definitely willing to help you understand if you need clarification. Take the paper seriously and study for the tests.
I'm not going to sugar coat it for you. His class is hard. Don't expect to get an A in his class. Just a heads up; you need to do 20 hours of ASL while other classes have to do 6. It's not a bad thing doing community service but it was for me while taking 18 credits at the same time. You'll need all the luck if you get stuck in his class! Good luck
it is not an easy course ok but wn't exaggerate it - 20 hrs ASL were an option instead of paper or presentation. I did the paper and was no prob..
His class is hard, and his tests are specific, but he won't ask you anything he didn't tell you about in class. He doesn't take attendance every day, but go to class; the slides he gives you aren't enough to study. You will honestly have to work hard if you want anything above a C- in his class. Avoid him if you can, but know that he's passable.
He is a pretty difficult professor because of his tests. They are so specific and you'll need to be in class for them. He has slides but those aren't enough. You'll have to listen well and this class requires you to study well. I had 3 tests and a paper, no homework ... well its optional.
Advice: drop the class before it's too late. Just drop it. Avoid his class. Theology is NEVER supposed to be this hard but this guy, for some odd reason, makes it incredibly hard.
3 exams, final, and ASL paper. Homework is extra credit. Attendance is MANDATORY or else you are doomed to fail his exams. His exams are so specific and hard. I wish I never took his class. He doesn't focus on one religion, goes all over the place with different religions/histories/etc.
He is not as difficult as people make him out to be. Just go to class, take good notes, read over your notes before the exam and you'll get an A. He's a good professor, despite his illegible handwriting.
You can't understand his accent or read his handwriting. Drop his class, don't even waste your time. There are much better Theology professors then him.
YOU MUST TAKE GOOD NOTES TO GET BY ON THE TESTS. Study Groups HELP with this class. Tests arent that hard its just SOOO MUCH MATERIAL that he covers that you don't know what is going to be on the test. HE GIVES NO STUDY GUIDES. We asked him what essay topics are on the test .. he listed 40 for us to study but we only have to write 2 on the test -_-
I never rate any professors but I had to for this guy because he's so ridiculous. I hope you guys don't even bother registering for his class because it's not worth it! So hard and completely ridiculous. Hated his class! So not worth the GPA drowner
Tests are so hard. Doesn't review at all or give you a brief idea of what might be on the test so you need to study every single freakin slide he puts up every class and that is why attendance is mandatory. Studying is the big key to pass this class otherwise you're totally failing. Anyways, I wouldn't even bother taking his class if I were you.
It's not easy to get an A in his class, but it's not difficult to do so either. You get 5 questions wrong on the Multiple Choice section of his test and you still get full credit. You WILL have to study from his notes & the textbook. The paper is actually not so bad as long as you meet the minimum page & Originality requirement. Love his accent!
Intimidating at first, but pretty cool. Participate, or there will be awkward pauses lol. MAKE SURE you study the notes you take in class. ALL the info on the tests come from notes in class (the textbook isn't needed). There are 2 tets, a paper, and a final. Plus he gives 5 points to your overall grade if you do your homework and come to class.
He is such a good professor and he really does his best to make sure you understand the material. It's not an easy A but if you study and take notes, there should be no reason you shouldn't do well. people that complain about doing bad should just take better notes. there were 2 tests, a final and a paper.. all very easy. take him!
Pretty simple- do the work get the grade.no complaints here
Great teacher! Take notes, study for the exams, show up to class, do the work, get an A. He gives you every opportunity in the world to review for the test but you have to ask him what you want to review. It's all on you. He expects that his students are adults.
do not take him if your are looking for an easy A. He is a great professor with a lot of knowledge on the subject. Attendance isn't mandatory but i do not suggest you miss a single lecture because his tests are based on what he says so make sure you take good notes and study hard.
Great teacher if you really want to learn. He treats his classroom like a college classroom, which is very nice. He's doesn't just give out grade, he gives you what you deserve. Take him if you want to learn!
For theology1000 it was pretty difficult. Not an easy A like you would expect from a 1000 class. He was a great professor and wanted each student to do as well as they could. He was a fair grader and gave many chances to review in class. An A is definitely possible but you will need to take notes even though he gives powerpoint slides + study a lot
took 5 week course not hard just time consuming, no test just summarizing what you have read which lead averagely 2500 words to get an A. I think he was very easy considering the time constraint Recommended for online
Attend class and get the notes, tests are based off the notes and minimal textbook use. Homework given relatively every class however it's very simple. He gives out tests after after chapter, midterm & final. Project at the end of the year can be a presentation, thesis or about 20 ASL hours.Definitely recommend.
Pretty good professor. The first test isn't that bad but they get a little harder afterwards. There's a paper due as a midterm but it's only 1500-1700 words
Didn't like him as a professor, he gave a powerpoint slide for the whole year on the first day , attendance is not mandatory.... his tests are super hard, everything he says thats not on the powerpoint can be on the test... i feel he mumbles a lot and i didn't really understand him all that much
posts his powerpoint slides from day one, very organized, fast pace but fair exams, knows his stuff
It is more difficult than it seems.. But if you do the work it's easy to do well
As long as you sit in the front and take good notes, you will do well. He gives you the PowerPoint slides from the first day of class so that is helpful. He has an Irish accent so sometimes it's difficult to figure out what he is saying but as I said, sit in the front and ask questions.
I thought he was a decent professor. Gets you interested in the subject. Takes notes from the slide and what he's talking about, you should be fine for the tests. Homework is extra credit, not mandatory but helpful.
whole class is a powerpoint. print them out and add onto it. what he says in class is on the test-TAKE NOTES! gives broad outline for tests, have to study to pass. pretty clear, has a heavy accent. no textbook. 3 tests, not cumulative. either a research paper or asl. you don't have to show up but if you don't go you won't do well
Two tests (multiple choice / two full essays). Final is only multiple choice on material after the second test. One research paper. But let me say, his tests are so hard. You can only get an A if you really listen and write down every single thing he says and study it to the point where you could teach it yourself. A LOTTT of boring information.
Loved Holland my freshmen year, a lot of lectures,so if note taking isn't your thing, don't take him. He can talk fast but he allows laptops in case your a slow writer. No phones. Only two tests so make sure you study for them, 1700 word research paper and simple homework assignments. Really opened my eyes to theology, never thought i'd like it.
Very excitable and energetic; screams and sings a lot and can be a bit much, but also kinda funny. Hard to understand and gets off topic often, not good at simplifying things for intro classes. Gives homework for practice but doesn't collect it, takes attendance every day, posts answers, lectures, and study guides online, gives extra credit.
His class is extremely straight forward and he is always available to talk after class. Gives you the powerpoints ahead of time, which you can print out and bring to class, so the note taking became easier. Even if you aren't Christian he makes the class easy to comprehend and does not force you to believe the material. Overall great professor.
He is a really good teacher. You MUST pay attention and take a lot of notes. Write down everything that comes out of his mouth because it WILL be on the test. He gives HW and attendance as extra credit so if you do all of it, you can afford to do bad on one test. Make sure to print out the power point slides and take notes on it.
He is confusing and does not give feedback. I often felt frustrated because what he would say wouldn't match what he put on the notes. I had difficulty understanding what he says and writes because he speaks with a thick accent and his handwriting was illegible.
BEST TEACHER EVER!!!
Workload is too heavy.
He is awful. Unless you write down every word he says or record his lectures you're not going to do well. Half of the class withdrew after almost everyone failed the midterm. Was assigned to him as a freshman, if you have him, drop him. Extremely boring material and he is also boring
He's a nice professor but very tough on grading. If you are not accurate on the work, you won't get a good grade. He rarely gives a 100. He has a lot of PowerPoint, which will be on the midterm/exam. When he writes, you won't be able to understand it. Don't take this class if you want to pass with a good grade,
