Extreme liberal bias, doesn't teach just shows videos
lots of busy work with hard mid-terms
Very good teacher, yet essays on midterms are impossible
No Comments
This class is tough. The essays are ridiculous.
Interesting course, grading not concrete. We need more challenging profs like him
No Comments
Easy midterms AND essays! Teaches REAL history, not White America.
Really interesting class, I learned a lot!
When I was a freshman, I learned to map countries and write in blue books.
Hard to takes notes. So much reading . You have to READ to pass this course.
eassay tests, good videos, discusses current events, eye opening
Unorganized, couldn't follow syllabus. Tests are all essay. Nice guy though.
Nice guy, but unorganized. Lots of class notes and gives essay q's before tests
Very nice guy. Gives out TONS of work though. Exams are difficult but fair.

be prepared to READ a lot, and really READ, it is easy if you READ
best history class i've ever had
didn't have to read to pass cause he gives the test q's beforehand
In class discussion is really cool, there is a lot of reading BUT if you do the reading well its really easy! He is a cool guy too!
You've gotta know the material, but all in all, a pretty good course. Never boring. He portrays history in a very different perspective than most would be used to.
Very good teacher; very interesting, you learn a lot; just read and do the quizzes and you'll do fine (A or B). Is a nice guy and teaches American History how it should be taught: unbiased and truthful.
Before taking his class, I had very conserv. views on ****s but now that I have learned the hist of ****s in the US, I have changed my views. Nob is a great lecturer but get ready to face MANY of his liberal views on sexuality. Also, lots of READING!!!!
You have to read 100+ pages a week. He is a very good teacher. Almost everyone gets a B or better if you read. Gives out essay questions before test. Make sure you have studied all essay questions. Very enthusiastic about his work.
Be prepared to do lots of reading, you have a quiz every week. If you do the reading and do okay on the essay you're bound to ace the class. Just keep up with reading and you'll do fine. One of the only unbiased history professors at SDSU. TAKE HIM.
Great teacher! lots of reading but always a fun class and not a lot of homework. definetely recommended!
Liberal views, interesting discussion, but difficult to sit through 3 hours. LOTS of reading, and weekly quizzes. Essay exams, but easy to BS your way through.
Great teacher, really interesting and fun to listen to. The worst part is a 3 hour class that is hard to sit through. The questions to the tests are given before the test so you can study and research the argument and the tests are all written essays.
Class is fun when you have a teacher that is not afraid to tell you like it is, and is open for discusion about the way it is!!! way too much reading about ****!
Great teacher that keeps class very interesting. Fun but lots of reading and quizzes to make sure that you are. Pay attention like usual to get an A.
Well he gives the essays before the test but he is so hard. This class is so demanding so if you dont have hours a week to read and study I wouldn't take him. It's interesting but he doesn't grade each paper evenly so that sucks.
Very demanding course. There is too much outside work to be done for a 3 unit class. You have to watch 5 outside videos and read 80 chapters from three different books and then be expected to remember everything for weekly quizzes!
Assigns tons and tons of homework. I worked so hard to finish all the stuff he threw out and I still couldn't do it. Ended up talking about other stuff besides history all the time... never tested on stuff he talked about or assigned.
cool professor, very demanding, attend class and do all the reading...he assigns a grip of readings so don't be lazy...overall he is a good professor...highly recommended...
Take this class to also learn. Look at it that way and this class will be one of the best you'll ever take. I had four science classes+labs and work at the same time but still had a great semester. Highly recommended.
This prof is so awesome. He is totally interesting, very honest and blunt about his life and beliefs, and more than willing to help you through the semester. Lots of reading and hard tests, but fun class. Talk to him one on one~ he's a really neat person.
If you do your work its easy, he will help you out as much as your willing to work. nice guy.
There's lots of reading, but some of the things you read are worth it. There's great discussion over a variety of topics. I enjoyed his class.
He's very interesting and personable, especially individually. Although there's a lot of reading, the subject matter is pretty interesting. Overall, the class is recommended, but make sure you have the time to complete the required coursework.
Really good class and professor. It's a lot of reading but tests are easy and lectures are interesting. One 5-8 page research paper but he's really helpful with it. The subject is really interesting but if you are a diehard religious conservative or anti-gay I wouldn't take it. Anybody else: take it
Remarkable professor! Fun, enthusiastic and engaging! He does assign a mound of readings and his "pop quizes" always caught me off guard. Overall rating EXCELLENT!
it's not the easiest class, but it's definitely managable. assigns lots of reading every week and there are a few pop quizzes. midterm and final are both essay form and there is also a term paper. he is a really, really nice guy and you will learn a lot in this class.
goofy kinda guy... didn't take himself too seriously... was cool that he used resources on the campus (like taking us to the media center to watch a movie) and that type of a thing...
sooooo confusing. didn't say what was due when and said it was on the syllabus when the syllabus was even more vague. Nice guy but i was always prepared to be surprised with what we had to turn in on any iven day.
The syllabus is clear and detailed. Anybody with half a brain could follow it. The only changes he made are when we ask he will give us more time. Great class - connects history to the present so it matters.
Okay class, but very tedious, focuses on middle classe White US history with tidbit(very little) about other people. Lectures are okay, discussions boring, but easy A. favors students in the sciencesas if science were not philsophy in itself. take Women's St if interested non white sexuality
Great class. A nice way to round out your education. Even if you don't agree with all of his tenants, the class gives you a lot to think about. Prof. Nobiletti is a really nice guy who enjoys teaching and talking with students. Lots of reading, fortunately it gets more interesting as the semseter progresses. Definitely recommend this class!
good class. cool teacher. opens your eyes to a lot of things. yea, maybe some things you won't agree with and sometimes subjects are a little raw, but relates hist to current real world matters so interesting. agree w/ post that said good way to round out education. would recommend
terrible teaching skills seems to favor guys in grading.
If you're not good at history, don't take him. He's a great guy and a great professor, but his class can be hard to follow if you're not enthusiastically interested in the material. He does have some very interesting and wonderful things to teach, and his assignments aren't hard. They include 3 papers, current events, and various readings.
Easy great teacher and taught us a lot. Uses a lot of on campus resources, and a lot of hot girls seem to take his class
Classroom packed! Don't get stuck in the back on the day he makes a seating chart. I could never hear over the fan going. 5 different sources of reading material was the first clue that it was not going to be a demanding course.
hes really nice and will let u turn things in pretty much whenever you want..but due dates were confusing he hopped around everywhere. didnt know when quizes were going to be. A lot a lot of reading..most boring/confusing lectures that went from globalization then back to history i love history but his teaching style confused and irratated me
He's very passionate about what he teaches, and educating people. LOTS of reading, but don't let it inimidate you- it's about sex, you'll get through it. Makes you Q a lot of things.
Makes History of Sexuality fun and interesting. Occassionally cusses in class, and is very open minded and helpful. When it comes to his papers, he grades it more on what sexuality has taught society rather than just writing about boring researched stuff. Input ideas from lectures, and books, especially. Lots of videos are shown in this class.

very dramatic in a good way Handle a class like a gourmet class, Lots of spices,Reality thru a pair of Rose color glasses

class has movies and lectures, no need to buy books (on reserve) or take notes, just show up for attendence, lots of reading for commentaries due each week, 2 take home papers (midterm & final), extra credit possible, volunteering also possible, teacher is fun and enjoyable, loves people to volunteer in class, lots of class/group discussions
Pretty interesting material. The class was fairly easy...one in-class essay for the midterm, a term paper, and a final take-home exam. Show up for class for the attendance. Not many quizzes, but you need to be there to take them. Good class, i'd take it again.
He is a knowledgeable teacher, but he just throws so much information at you that it is impossible to learn all that you see in and outside of class. He should choose only the most important subjects and focus on them. He also makes you buy like five books which you arent going to be able to read completely.
Very interesting subject matter. He was also very flexible and not too rigid with scheldule. Assignments were relatively easy and he didn't throw us any surprises.

This class was a lot of fun. I hate history, and if I had a chance I would take more classes with him. His lectures are always energetic and his tests are pretty easy. If you prepare for the essays, you will be set.
I LOVED this class. It was so INTERESTINga nd i learned a lot. He was very fair and understanding and passionate about teaching. We need more professors like Nobiletti. He is very supportive and a easy going instructor with a passion to teach.
Frank is a really nice guy. He really does want you to do well, so just show up, do the work, and pay attention.
Extremely boring class, and he only makes it worse. Knows the subject, but class was tedious and you don't learn much.
Lectures are pretty boring. He's a nice guy but is unorganized mentally. You're grade is based off of papers. You have some hw and quizes but that is only a small percent of your grade. He also takes attendance everyday. Overal an OK class.
Probably the most interesting class I have ever taken at state. He knows about EVERYTHING! I feel like I came out of this class smarter, he is also a fair grader and very helpful. Must come to class tho
Fun teacher. Lots of opportunities for extra credit.
VERY liberal, feminist attitudes. His political diatribes are entertaining but his lectures are pretty boring. This class is way too much work, if you're looking for an easy way out you have the wrong class! Debates, essays, 200pg/wk reading assignements with quizzes, final exam...yeah lots of work.
I really enjoyed the class. The guy is really passionate about the material, which makes it pretty interesting. If you have conservative views, he'll probably piss you off. A lot of reading, and he takes attendance every day, but the class is rewarding and Nobiletti is pretty cool.
An enthusiastic teacher who knows his stuff; readings are interesting yet challenging; a firm but fair grader; put in the work and you'll be rewarded accordingly.
I thought i'd be super interested in the topic.. but this guy is just noooo fun... class is boring... readings aren't exciting... tells u the quizzes aren't graded all the time.. then grades every single one... i would recommend NOT taking this class...i got a B + in the class... but it still sucks.
I took this class as General Ed. He thinks that you can read 2 chapter before each class. Takes attendence and gives daily reading quizzes that are ridculous. He doesn't leacture. His midterm is a deate or take home test do the debate its easier. Final was take home. Do the extra credit it helps. He is unorganized. Have to go see outside films and
Amazing class -fun different from other history -who else teaches sexhistory? He'll do anything to help u but don't cheat. Makes 2 1/2 hour class fly. film, debates, cur event, discussion. Welcomes all views. lots extra credit Doesn't lecture??? Was the person EVER in class? I don't usually like history, but thisclass was my favorit.
His lectures are soooo boring, but he loves History of Sex and is passionate about teaching. He is a very easy grader and he offers all the extra credit you could ever want. There are a lot of assigned readings but I never read any of them and still got an A.
Overall class had a LOT of reading (5 textbooks!)! Lectures are long, but midterm/final were take home. He is a super nice guy,Very fair grader but sometimes his syllabus/instructions are a bit confusing. Really got a LOT out of this class! However, if you just want an EZ class dont bother. You can still get an B with doing very little reading.
Frank is really agreat guy to have as a teacher. If you have problems with any of the assignments and let him know, he is more that willing to work with you on getting it done and even making extension. Awsome teacher and very approachable!
Not just for gay people. Its a very interesting class. I barely ever went to class and barely ever did the reading and still got a B. He is a great teacher! I learned a lot about the gay community through interesting group discussions not by boring reading or tests.
Mr. Nobiletti is an amazing teacher. He lectures are brilliant. In this particular class we did not always stay on topic, but moved toward more current, and in my mind more interesting topics.Really encourages you to actually use your brain.
Nobiletti was by far my least favorite prof. hear at state. He is passionate about his work, but his lectures are extremely boring. If you plan on learning classic history, think again. The millions of books we read were all related to globalization, corporations, and the environment. Tons of reading, and he is often confusing with his assignments.
I was excited to take the class, then found out... The syllabus needs to be deciphered every time you read it. "Requires" only 1 textbook, ended up having to buy 5. Vents about current events and the gov., then rarely allows students to rebut. A bunch of reading/outside videos and lectures are hit and miss if they are relevant to anything.
He is a good person but his class is very overwhelming. His directions are confusing and yah lectures are boring. He does offer a lot of extra credit which is nice but i would try another class if you dont have to take him.
He is so cool. His class rocks!! Do not let these other people tell you otherwise. He is always interesting and never boring. Also he is always willing to help you out if you have any questions and he is easy to talk to.
Frank's class is okay once you can figure everything out from him. He is very confusing and asks for werid assignments. His lectures are boring and dull. I thought it was history of sexuality and it is really gay sexuality. There is extra credit but its time consuming, his whole class. Good luck if u decide to take the class
This class was not what I expected. Like the person before me said, its more about gay sexuality rather than the history. He is a nice guy, but can get frustrated easily. He stands @ the podium & lectures the whole time, which isn't my style. Once you figure out how the class works, its not too bad. Take home mid term and final, which was nice =)
This class was great! The lectures are fun and interesting, plus he offers so much extra credit for anything!! I am a business major and I hate history but this was by far the best history class I have ever taken. Just show up to class and take a couple notes and you will do great. All tests are take home. Amazing course and great professor.
Fun class, great professor, take this course.
This class should be mandatory for everyone. Easy easy easy, go to class and you will get an A! No tests!! Everything is take home. This is the best culturally diverse class you can take at SDSU!
You read alot in his class but it is interesting material. You have alot of extra credit so take advantage of that because that will help you a lot and this class changes your way in viewing the world TO MAKE IT A MORE POSITIVE ONE. I REALLY RECOMMEND THIS CLASS IT IS NOT HARD AND VERY INTERESTING
pretty easy and simple class, he just lectures the whole time. tests are take home and out of the books, so lectures arent used but still interesting. grade is a few short write-ups, paper, midterm, and final. grades kinda easy. take advantage of lots of extra credit. i never did the readings and only looked at them for the tests, and got a B+.
Cool teacher, most classes are only lectures & discussion. Interesting class, take it!:)
TAKE THIS CLASS!! he is amazing and he is a great teacher. soooo incredibly smart he knows everything! haha class is interesting and not too hard.
Easy A, but lots of pointless reading and horribly dull lectures. Nobiletti focused on gay sexuality for 99% of the class, and he really wants everyone to be gay like him. Overall: super boring, he's obsessed with saying "f*ck", and he is retarded. Avoid if possible.
WOW. I have no idea why so many people gave him a good rating. He is boring, unintelligent, and heterophobic. Enough said.
Class is SO boring. Had to purchase quite a bit of material for pointless readings. All he ever talks about is the history of homosexuals. His language is very inappropriate and disrespectful. I would NOT recommend this class.
He is an awesome teacher i would recommend everyone take him. His classes are very interesting. You only need the class packet and one small book for the class so do not buy all the books he assigns. The final is take home and there are 6 quizzes but he drops the lowest grade. Very easy class i barely went and did not read a lot and got an A-
I don't know what all the neg comments are about. Nobiletti is a good teacher who is passionate about his subject. There is a focus on minorities: gays, women, native americans, esp. Quizzes are easy, mainly on lecture. There is alot of assigned opt. reading, I skimmed mostly and came out fine. He could give been instructions, but isn't a stickler.
Professor N is not as horrible as people make him seem. He does go off on tangents but normally the conversation is really interesting and he encourages all view points to be said in the open. He does focus a lot on the history of homosexualiy but as long as you arn't homophobic its really ok. He just really loves to talk about the history of sex
This class is very interesting and if you have half a brain, you will get an A. This course fulfills the cultural diversity requirement. The is NOT much required reading and the quizzes are curved and he drops the lowest. The final is a take-home. You cannot do bad in the course.
These ridiculous comments must be from people who are ignorant and closed minded. Professor Nobiletti was very nice and helpful. Definitely knows his material and very passionate about the subject. I learned a lot and this class opened up my eyes to many things. I would definitely recommend it!
This teacher is very passionate about the subject. Some of the lectures may be a little dull, but it be worth taking notes. Term Paper and take home final paper. Great teacher!!! Definitely recommend him!
Welcome to a class of free speech. Frank welcomes any opinion. I found the class to be interesting and very interactive. The tests are not hard and Frank is easy to get along with, even if you opinions differ from his. Warning: the class is mostly about homosexuality, but there is much you can learn from him!
Nobiletti is an AMAZING professor!! His passion for the subject is contagious and he makes lectures interesting. He has a very animated personality which makes the class fun to attend. Course was easy, he's very lenient and TONS of extra credit opportunities. You have to be open minded and actively participate in discussion. TAKE THE COURSE!
Nobiletti is one of the best profs I have ever had. The subject is really interesting and he is very passionate about what he does. All subjects are open for discussion and he's interested in your opinion whether you agree with him or not. He's great to talk to after class and he's very friendly. I believe the same person left several bad reviews.
He is a cool teacher. He is a bit scattered and goes off topic often. But i enjoyed the class. He gives tons of extra credit and uses a lot of profound language. I recommend this class
You'll either love him or not give a crap about him. Pros- Easy A, nice guy, cares about what he does. Cons- Not very clear, "odd" assignments, rambles at times and goes off topic. He is nice and does want his students to do the same but the class can be boring. Just because you don't like him doesn't make you a bigot/homophobe; grow up people.
Frank is an amazing professor. He is strong in his views but gladly accepts lots of conversation and involvement from students in the class. Not too hard of class, just do your readings. I would definitely recommend the class for non-history majors.
Whoever left all those nasty comments about Nobiletti needs a hug. He is a forthright professor who encourages opinion, debate and disagreement. He did use profanity, and the class content is gay-focused but, given how many opportunities there were to voice your opinion in class, back stabbing him anonymously misses the point completely.
A very interesting class taught by a very good prof. He encourages opinion, debate, and the students to actually use their brains which is a rare quality in this day and age
Kind of unorganized. Cool teacher, but wouldn't take him again. Assigns stupid assignments, but no tests, only take home essay tests - 8 page final essay. Class was OK to attend, but was boring on occasions.
Completely unorganized. No tests, just quizzes and the assignments are completely useless. He's a really nice guy, but doesnt know how to teach. The final is a take home 8 page paper that has WAYYY too many requirements and is WAYYY too confusing. Dont buy any book for this class, I never read. Recommend another class for upper division GEs
He likes to ramble off and gets distracted very easily. The class i signed up for was supposed to be world history, but all we taked about in class was space, agriculture, and stuff like that. He is very confusing BUT class is very easy...1 term paper and 1 midterm, 1 final and offers lots of ExCr. He has a syllabus, but doesn't really follow it.
most unorganized class i have EVER taken at sdsu. unless you like being completely and utterly confused, do NOT take him. yes, there is hardly any work for it...just a 5 page midterm paper and an 8 page final paper and 10 quizzes (which are easy). he seems like a good guy, but not a good picture!!!!
Where to start. well this class is easy, but SUPER BORING. dont think your getting a interesting sexuality class, cause your not! this class should be called history of homosexuality. like everyone else says, he rambles and its useless, and hes unorganized...im sure the people who didnt show up as much as i did are still getting at least a B+.
I took this class in fall 08. He's a great professor who knows his stuff. Yes, lectures can be a bit scattered, but it's what keeps things interesting. There isn't much to the course: a few quizes, term paper about a chosen reader, and a take home final. Overall an easy class with a great professor...what more can you ask for? Definitely recommend!
WORST class/teacher I have had at SDSU. So unorganized, rambles about useless information. I didn't learn 1 thing all semester. Gives useless assignments and you never receive grades for your work. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
If you're looking for a class that you never have to go to and still understand the material, this is obviously not the class for you. Prof. Nobiletti is an extremely intelligent and caring professor. This was one of the most interesting and informative classes I've ever taken at SDSU. Show up, stay on top of your work, and you'll do just fine!!
I think this subject is too close to home for him to teach. He really cares about the subject and very knowledgeable, but he gets easily offended. there's a lot to read. 6 quizzes and 2 papers; also video critiques. it is interesting, but he does get off topic easily. Overall a nice guy and a reasonable class
This class was a great experience. Anyone who is intersted in what most history classes never talk about, then this is the class for you. The class has a great variety of assignments that keeps things moving. Great class, even better instructor.
Very unorganized. A complete scatter brain. Comes to class late, reads off a paper, goes on tangents, and won't answer your emails-- just complains about them all semester. He also waits until a week before it's due to assign a 9pg take-home research paper that ends up being your final. It was an interesting class, but I wouldn't take it again.
Lectures are very interesting. What you'll do: 5 page term paper, 7-8 page final paper, 4 film write ups (1 page double spaced each, very interesting films), and quizzes throughout the semester. Greades easy. Nobiletti knows his stuff, and he's very helpful at his office hours. He hates emails. Overall a great learning experience.
I'm really good at history and loved the world history class i took in high school, but i honestly did not learn anything in this class. Nice guy but he rambled on in his lectures, was NEVER on topic. It got so bad i just stopped going to class..whole class was revolved around gay rights, corporations and globalization..i dont suggest you take him
Very interesting class that deals with an essential social issue which almost nobody is aware of or knows much about. Focuses in great detail on the rise of modern corporations to global dominance. Nobiletti is an intelligent, knowledgeable, clear, and very engaging professor. Large amounts of extra credit available (around 6%). Highly recommended.
most horrible teacher ever. so annoying. rambles about pointless stuff. assignments are pointless. he hardly discusses history whatsoever. he should be an econ prof cuz all he talks about is corporations and his own opinions. doesnt explain things well. unorganized. rude and unhelpful when you email him. do not take this class!
Whoever wrote the previous comment, I am sorry that you are not cut out to be college material. Everyone, this class was the most useful and important class I have yet to take. Finally, here is a educator who asks students to think for themselves. I would definitely recommend this professor. Get him before his section fills up freshman!!!
He is very passionate about the subject he is teaching, he sometimes go off on a tangent about a subject and end up talking about something else. His class is very eye opening since it is never talked about in most history classes.
Took him for History of Sexuality. Definitely is passionate about the subject, lectures were for the most part interesting. Quizzes can be a little difficult if you didn't read the material but they're only worth 4 points each. Mid term and Final paper were an easy grade and worth 100 points each. Overall awesome guy! Recommended.
It looks like you either love this class or you hate it. I was personally expecting to learn a lot more from this class, but I did learn how to play suduko in the Daily Aztec. Nobiletti is a genuinely NICE and CARING guy and he is very passionate about what he teaches, but I was practically bored to tears by his lectures. Still ended up with a B.
I would have say that this teacher is one of the smartest and most passionate professors here at SDSU. HIST 406 is a great class. 10 quizzes, 1 term paper, and a final paper. Nobiletti is a great teacher and in 406 you can learn a great deal of new information that is both interesting and controversial. TAKE THIS CLASS YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT
While I got an A in this class, I admit that I hated it. Nobiletti is a very nice man and very passionate about his subject, his his class was not for me. Little to no structure and a wide range of topics that don't go together. The assignments are not clear nor are the quizzes. Not hard to get an A, but perhaps not worth your time.
I loved this course! Wasn't just same old. Nobiletti shows world history from 1500's rise of globalization to corporate domination of the world - important stuff -what's really going on that's always ignored but runs our life so it matters. Book Gangs of America was great!! he's fair and easygoing Anyone at SDSU who wants to learn should TAKE HIM
I loved this course! Wasn't just same old. Nobiletti shows world history from 1500's rise of globalization to corporations domination of the world - important stuff -what's really going on that's always ignored but runs our lives & matters. Book Gangs of America was good! He's fair and easygoing Anyone at SDSU who wants to learn should TAKE HIM
Nobiletti is a kind guy. That being said his class is not as easy as people make it out to be. You MUST do the readings prior to the quizzes. Read everything in the books too, because it is hard to tell what he will pick for the quizzes. He doesn't follow his syllabus very well, it's hard to know where you stand in the class. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!
Must attend class and take immaculate notes. Lots of outside class required for watching movies on which you must write reports. The worst part is that he does not follow the syllabus at all so you never know what to expect. Also he was TERRIBLE at getting your grades posted in a timely manner. Very disorganized class and teacher.
A passionate professor with real organization issues. Grades come back way late, he has no computer literacy whatsoever (leading to major problems with blackboard and room clickers), and bounces all over the place. That said, the assignments are fine if you pay attention, and the texts are pretty good. Overall, 3/4.
It was a very interesting class with lots of dirty 4 letter words. I actually enjoyed this class, Prof Nobiletti is full of energy and is passionate about teaching. He is a fair grader and is genuinely concerned about his students. It was a lot of work (writing) for an exploration class but looking back on it, I'd do it again. Recommend.
A lot of outside videos to watch in the media center, and quite a bit of reading and writing. 6 small quizes and he offers ec credit. Final is a take home essay. Interesting class but Prof. Nobiletti is pretty unorganized however he is very passionate about his subject and makes himself available to help students. Grades are posted really late.
I got an A in this class, but it was probably my least favorite class of the semester. He's super disorganized (his TA quit because of it at the end of the year) he taught his opinion and jumped all over the place while lecturing. You have to show up and take as many notes as u can catch. l would not recommend this class!
This class was very interesting and I learned a lot. I have a better understanding of sexual history and an increased belief in the need for sexual freedoms worldwide. The use of four-letter words was awesome too! Thanks Nobiletti!
This class was not what I expected. We learned a lot about Big bang theory and a lot of pre-human history. I found it very very boring. He would get very angry at people that were late, talking, eating etc but never try to involve them or include them. I learned very little and hated the whole thing.
really interesting class, show up,do the extra credit, skim read the assigned readings, you should get at least a B
If your looking for an easy A that meets a GE requirement then this is it. Do the extra credit(which tends to be quite interesting) skim read for quizzes, and you'll be fine. p.s. don't email him for help unless you ABSOLUTELY need it,he can dock you points for asking 'stupid' questions
I would not recommend this class to ppl who aren't VERY interested in globalization, history of coporations, and the history of homosexuality. The 4 quizzes are based off of his lectures which he jumps around a lot and talks fast. He can be strict on his rules. Majority of the grade are 2 essays. Gangs of American can be found online in full free
Odd class. Lectures jump around a lot. Not the world history I was expecting...it's about globalization and corporations. But if you actually kind of try, it's not hard to get a good grade. He's a pretty fair grader on the essays.
Worst professor I have experienced at SDSU. Never replied to emails, or he was really selective answering them, posted files not easily accessable, and he would hardly expand on the PowerPoints posted. If you're going to take him, expect to learn the majority of the class on your own. My main advice as a 4th year is to take with someone else.
I hated this class! Extremely boring and a waste of time, but you get participation points if you attend class. A lot of work, and reading to do. Final exam is an essay that took a lot of work and is 35% of your grade. Teacher jumps all over the place while lecturing. Power points are pointless and hard to follow. Do NOT recommend this class!!
I absolutely enjoyed this class. History was taught from a different perspective, and is not your typical history lesson. We're not in high school anymore, so keep up with the readings and you'll do great in this class. One of my favorite classes in my entire college experience (I'm in my 3rd year)!!
Frank is one of the best professors I have had a San Diego State. He is always helpful and full of energy. He has a passion for teaching and always brings in interesting and relevant outside material and videos. Overall, I would say that Frank is by far the best professor I have had, given his helpfulness and his passion for teaching.
This was my second class with professor Nobiletti. I had him for HIS406 (History of Sexuality). The classes were similar in format and obviously different in content. It's not your typical boring history class, there are a lot of interesting lectures, movies, etc. Loads of opportunity for extra credit and with moderate effort you can get an A.
One of the most knowledgeable and in touch professors at state. The syllabus looks a little hard at first, but once you go through it you realize that you can easily get an A in this class. Lots of extra credit...
I usually don't write teacher reviews, but felt writing one for Prof. Nobiletti was important! He's a great teacher, ONE OF MY FAVORITES! I'm not a history major, but LOVED his class. He has a PASSION for what he teaches, & you sense it the 1st day. His ppts are clear, not a lot of work, tons of EC,& a few easy quizzes! TAKE HIM, ITS WORTH IT!!
This man is unpredictable. Utterly crazy. Be prepared to study your ass off for a little quiz that is worth too many grade points AND THEN get to class and he decides to just take attendance instead. It easy but its also a joke. And annoying.
Attendance is mandatory. Participation pts also so speak up, do the reading & have an opinion. Has no organization. Talk one day about something then jump to a completely different topic. Hes very opinionated & criticizes religion a lot which i think is unfair & biased. Have to do outside reading & videos. Final essay was hard but grades nicely
He knows his stuff. Fairly interesting class. Hardly dud anything/missed a few assignments and got a B. But the class requires work. Read the power points and articles he gives you etc. Should be fine. He's a really nice guy too!
Hardly dud anything/missed a few assignments and got a B. But the class requires work. Read the power points and articles he gives you etc. Should be fine. He knows his stuff. Fairly interesting class. He's a really nice guy too! :)
The first 5 weeks of this course is dumb!!! We literally go over the string theory and exploding stars the first 5 weeks. He is very!!! opinionated and it gets annoying when he constantly finds the need to put down religious institutions. But other than that this is an easy A so if you can handle his disorganization and opinion take this class.
I took this course with the expectation of learning about History, but Nobiletti teaches his class like its a science class. All he talks about is evolution and the future, and his powerpoints are overpacked with information and he doesn't explain anything well. He is very confusing and changes his mind a lot about due dates. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
Mr. Nobiletti is extremely passionate about everything he teaches us and makes the class interesting because of it. He can be unclear about due dates and guidelines but he is extremely helpful and friendly if you ask him any questions after class. He is a great teacher and truly cares about the subject. Take this class! :)
Useless class for me. All we do in class is read through powerpoints which is very boring. Its not even the HISTORY i was expecting. Its all THEORY. And he is OBVIOUSLY liberal because he's so biased in his opinion. says stuff like 'Christians are destroying the world'.. HAHA what a joke. AND spent money on a textbook NEVER used. Have fun guys lol
This class is an absolute waste. The text book is cheap and is required we read it in order to do well on the test I can say I passed the class without reading a single page in the textbook. He is so disorganized and when you ask a question he yells at you for not understanding. You'll fail because he is disorganized. Very easy class, terrible teacher
Mr. Frank needs at least 10 assistant teachers to organize his work.He will teach stars instead of history.
Frank Nobiletti is a teacher that I follow at san diego state. If you want to take a history class that is absolutely rivoting then take a class from nobiletti. I have taken history of sexuality and intro from him and both classes were great. Very well organised and he will let you know what is going on. Take this professor!
Professor Nobiletti is really engaged about the material. Every class he has a ton to say about the subject. The class is pretty easy, there's quizzes, film reviews, and 2 essays, one for midterm one for final. Overall, he takes attendance, and we barely used the book, so it's up to you if you wanna get it. I would recommend it, easy A.
This teacher is ridiculous. He jumps around on material all the time. Also it's not really a modern world history course...it's just a big tirade of corporate globalization with a few historical films sprinkled in. The teachers a nice guy overall but he doesn't actually grade any of your work his TA does. NOT a good GE history course for anyone.
Lets be real here, He rambles alot but he is BRILLIANT. I hate history and didn't really enjoy the class. Played games on my computer BUT if you go and talk to him in office hours he will do anything for you. SO EASY. I got a B+ doing nothing. TAKE HIM and DO NOT buy any of the books!
A little sprawling sometimes and he skips around a lot, but history can daunting to cram in a single semester. Go to the classes, listen to lectures, and DO THE READINGS. Prof is a fair grader and if you go to his office hours, participate in class, you will get a B for sure. Prof is passionate and very knowledgeable and keeps it interesting.
This is the most disorganized man I have ever seen. He is absolutely brilliant, but expect to learn about globalization, capitalism, and corporations. The assignments are mystifying and there is little to no way to understand what will be on the quiz. Good luck, you're probably screwed if you take his class.
I usually enjoy history classes but I wish I took this class at a community college or with someone else. He is incredibly intelligent and I did like the lectures, especially since I had him during Occupy Wall Street, but they had nothing to do with the class. Nothing was very clear. Attendance is mandatory. Just not an easy 100 level class.
Originally I thought I would be taking a regular History 101 class with everything from the beginning of time with WW1 and WW2 but Nobiletti takes a different spin and does a history of globalization. If you're one interested in politics, economics, and globalization this is a good class. But if you want just regular history dont take this class!
I love this professor, but I must admit this is NOT a typical history class. It more or less takes on the history of globalization. If you don't care much for lecture style & like to learn through peer perspective this is a great class. It's very enriching, and you'll gain a unique outlook on the world. I definitely recommend this professor
AVOID. If your a chill person, and want to get good grades, DO NOT TAKE. He is soo disorganized, talks endlessly and is of NO help. Stuck in the 60's and has no idea whats going on these days and how to teach a monder day class. avoid avoid avoid.
This class isn't a typical history class. The prof is pretty disorganized, the quizzes are hard BUT if you work with him he is happy to give extra points. There is no real way to fail this class even if you fail all the quizzes. He gives tons of extra credit, the final is a take home paper. But he is very unorganized which makes the class difficult
Tons of extra credit. No midterms/final, just 2 essays. Quizzes are hard, but only worth 15 points each. Clicker is used for participation/attendance. He will keep you the whole time if it's a one day a week class. But easy B+ forsure if you do everything & smewhat try.
AVOID. Class is easy but it's not even worth it. All he does is ramble and changes due dates on a whim without fixing the syllabus. Completely disorganized and has the most useless powerpoints I have ever seen.
Super scatterbrained, confusing train of thought during lectures. Uses clickers for attendance. NEVER responds to emails. Would not recommend
An exciting class taught by a man who has lived the history he teaches. Nobiletti talks to his students like the adults they are including using straightforward words that require honest responses. This is not a difficult course, especially due to the exciting content and the fun and interactive way it is taught.
Easy class. Got a B without doing much. Quizzes and 2 take home papers. I thought I bombed the papers but ended up getting B's on them. He's a really nice guy but the whole class is not a traditional history class, its more like a weird physics/history class. Attendance was mandatory...
At 1st he might seem boring and confusing but if u go up 2 him and ask him 4 help, he will happily help u. He's such a nice and caring professor. There r 2 essays (they r both take home), 4 quizzes, and 3 to 5 micro assignments. U need 2 read the textbook because that is what u r required 2 write about 4 the final. Don't wait last minute 2 read.
A great course! Prof. Nobiletti is very knowledgeable, has personal life experience to add to the course information, and treats students like the adults we are. If you're looking for a lecture-from-the-book class, where missing class is acceptable take someone else, if you want a fun and engaging experience take this class.
This class by far has been the most interesting in my college experience. I strongly admire this professor for his concern in education and congratulate him for the great work he does. Easy A+!
He is a very nice and helpful professor, and I was stoked on this class before the semester started. After attempting to put forth a conservative effort for the first few weeks, his straying from the notes made me lose interest. He cancelled many assignments, so the grade came down to attendance, 2, 100-point papers and 5 10-point assignments
He is totally scatterbrained. You can't keep up. He's all over the place. He goes off on long irrelevant tangents. I left the class confused and annoyed. Not a good professor at all. Get anyone else if you can
He is a very passionate and inspiring professor. He teaches knowledge that goes so far beyond just taking a class and getting a grade. Take this class if you want insight to a different view of life that you never knew existed. His only drawback is that his lectures are pretty disorganized and he doesn't always get though all of the material.
Super easy GE. Only three small tests and two papers!
He is simply the best! Not only is this class easy but he makes it so enjoyable. You learn so much about & he really has mastered the subject. He is hilarious and real--he makes you see sexuality, gender & orientation in a different light. His class definitely changed my point of view. Everyone should take this class to be informed!
Uses clicker for attendance and quizzes. Three quizzes, three micro-assignments, three video assignments, and two papers for this class. I'm a senior, and I thought this class was a lot of work for a lower ge. Everything was pretty easy, just very time consuming and annoying. Tip: start all your assignments early and you'll be fine. I got an A-.
Enjoyed the Levine book and the CR, the class lectures are all over the place. This class closely relates to my LGBT major but I was super confused. Lots of EX CR opportunities, watching movies. He talks to you like you are as knowledgeable as he is. He really likes class participation. His TA's lecture was way more interesting than any of his :-/
Not too difficult of a class. Short readinds every week with a few short assignments, 3 quizzes, a term paper, and a take homne final. Organization is not the best and he is sometimes hard to follow. Quite opinionated.
His lectures were definitely all over the place. At times, he was really confusing and he didn't make it easy to ask questions. We had to write a response to the textbook chapter every week, but he didn't always collect it. Used clicker for attendance and for the 3 quizzes. Also, he had a seating chart so you had to sit in the same spot.
Professor Nobiletti was enthusiastic and passionate about the course, which made me much more excited about the subject. He is incredibly helpful and always willing to work with students outside of class to make sure they understand the material. Go to class, pay attention, do the readings, a short term paper, and you will get an A.
Interesting class, super easy grader. Just show up and do the easy assignments and you will get an A.
It was an amazing class. Assignments were relatively easy and lectures were informative. Plenty of opportunities for extra-credit. Not a difficult class if one pays attention. Clickers are mandatory for attendence. I would recommend this class to anyone as an introduction into the very expansive world of human sexuality.
Great teacher. Im n international student and i really enjoyed it. tries to make class interested taking into account many students are only there because they have to. i dont need to go to class, but i recommend you do because classes are generally good. he is a nice guy with a good personal opinion that i appreciate.
interesting class, not too much work. Attendance mandatory as part of points,2 short papers, few video reviews, couple of quizzes. Lectures are long, so hard to stay focused, but subject is very interesting. Pr. seems very nice.
Professor Nobiletti is fantastic! The course load is light compared to other classes, just make sure to do the reading and the occasionally small assignment. At the beginning of the year he even said "I want this class to be so easy that everyone gets A's! i want so many A's that its a scandal!" 1010. would take again.
Prof Nobiletti seems scary at first but he's a actually a really nice guy! He is always willing to talk to students and help out. He can be really confusing during lectures (He himself admits he as ADD) and it can be hard to keep up with him as he's jumping around. The homework is super easy and light and he offers LOTS of easy extra credit!
His class was the easiest course I took last semester. The work load is super light and there is basically no effort to pass the class. The only tests we have are take home exam papers and clicker questions that I guessed on. I haven't learned a single thing but I got an A- in the class. His lectures are boring though, mostly just browsed the web.
He is so disorganized. I never knew what to take notes on, goes on lots of tangents. This class was way to long for my attention span. The only thing i hated was how he uploaded ALL assignments onto BB for the entire semester, hard to find what you need, PP unhelpful. Have to read a book for a paper.
If i hadn't skipped four classes i would have gotten a B, but he offers a lot of extra credit to make up for it (which I didn't do...). only two essays no tests. really enjoyable class. he usually goes off topic and goes on a lot of rants but those are really hilarious. I would take this class again.
Nobiletti is the kind of professor i would expect to find an Ivy League. Im not a history major, Im a management major, but I always walked out of class somehow inspired. He doesnt simply teach history, his course teaches you how to look at history as a lesson to apply to future problems. For example, during our class we talked extensively about
The class is not that bad its just long and sometimes boring. Homework is super easy.
If you've ever seen the movie jumper that is what Frank's brain does. His assignments are super ambiguous it's like you make up your own prompt. His lectures are extremely boring and he goes till the end of class. You will not get let out early. He talks way too much.
Overall great professor! The class lectures are very interesting and he loves to hear your opinion. Best way to enjoy his class is to speak up and enjoy the movie clips. Extra credit is available and there is no exam. Just two papers :D
I love history, but Nobiletti's history 109 was my least favorite class of this semester. He's a nice guy but I didn't even see a point in going to class half the time. His lectures are all over the place and he will input his personal opinions into them as he pleases. Wouldn't recommend taking him for a class
Long-winded lectures, but daily clicker points make attendance a must. Midterm and final papers have super vague prompts. You can google online quiz answers, but the books are required for the papers. They're also expensive. Lots of extra credit, so an A is easy to get with some effort. Wouldn't take this class if you just want an easy A.
Nobiletti was a great professor and is one of the most passionate professors at State. I took this class as a mandatory Upper Division GE and was very happy I did. The lectures were almost 3 hours but he does give a break and his enthusiasm makes it go by much faster. Highly recommend taking a class with him
Easy class. You have to show up for clicker points. He gives out extra credit, but I didn't do any of it and still passed with an A-. Lectures are boring but there is very little work just two short papers and some online quizzes that you can google the answers for. Basically just do all your work and u can pass with an A.
Easiest history class I've taken
I was expecting an easy A, but you really need to put in some effort in this class. Attendance is mandatory as he does clicker questions every class. Also make sure to do the homework. There are 2 papers but the prompts are so vague you don't even understand what you're writing about. I would recommend taking someone else if you can.
Prof. Nobiletti is a great teacher. He knows a lot. For history, he does go a little off subject, but he does talk a lot about relevant things about the topic. It is sad that this semester will be his last semester teaching since he will be retiring. I would definily take another semester with him. He does talk A LOT about chinese people.
Nobiletti is sooo nice!! He's a really great human being and will always help when you need it. However, his class information is kind of all over the place. His train of thought doesn't stay in one place and the final essay prompt was very vague. The more I read it the more confused I got. clarification didn't help / praying for mercy!
really unclear grading criteria, but awesome guy. great topic and interesting but he can be very scatterbrained. clicker questions in every class
He is so difficult to understand nothing, he says is cohesive, he always goes off on tangents, has no useful information on his powerpoints and spends most of class just babbling.
This was the worst class I've ever taken. The grading was horrible. Assignments were easy, but the professor never allowed anyone to get full credit. Also, participation MATTERS in a class of 180 people and clicker questions count. I received an A on the term paper, assignments and final, and I still got a B in the class because of participation.
You MUST go to class because there are clicker quizzes everyday. They're also not easy. So, make sure to do the readings. Other than that, your grade is based upon 4 video assignments, 3 other assignments and two essays. If you ask him, he's very helpful and makes it clear why you received a certain grade. He is an awesome guy, I loved his lectures
I took this class to fulfill my exploration course. Frank wants you to do well which means you need to go to class. There are clicker questions every class and they can be tricky if you don't do your reading beforehand. The lectures are unorganized, so make sure you ask questions. No in class exams, but two papers instead. Very do-able.
Professor Nobiletti is very passionate about American history. He brings in current events and films into the class. He has a lot of energy and is very inspiring. This is not the boring history class you took in high school. Be prepared to see the past in a new an interesting way. You will learn about cultural history.
The lectures are two and half hours long and there are no tests, just two papers. He does clicker questions every class to count attendance. He does offer extra credit so that's a plus but I didn't enjoy this class.
One of the worst classes I have ever taken, lectures do not pertain to anything useful. Class is unstructured and disorganized. None of the assignments have anything to do with what is discussed in lectures. Do not take this class if you are looking for an interesting/easy class. There are no tests, just two papers that you are not well explained.
Took this class for lower division. Everything was unorganized and the T.A (Sherry) was a tough grader. I did not feel motivated due to the class materials presented with scattered ideas. The grading was not as fair or concise and clear. I would say my upper division courses are much more easier than this class, and that says something......
don't take this class if you are looking for an easy A. in fact, don't take this class at all. VERY unorganized, completely unstructured. nobiletti is not very responsive to students' concerns. tons of clicker questions about minute details of the texts-which bring down grades, as well as very unclear lectures and essay instructions
Don't take this class if you have the choice. You have to go to every class or you won't pass. Incredibly boring, hard clicker questions, randomly calls on you. Best part was that instead of having actual exams, the midterm and final are just essays. READ THE BOOK and review lectures before class. All of his clicker quizzes are based off of them.
Take this class if you can. He is a very caring individual and it is clear to see in his lectures. I had him during the 2016 election and he was a very good asset to have to utilize with coping, understanding and learning about the process. He cares a lot about history and our future as a species.
I really enjoyed him as a professor. I think he is hardworking, caring, and LOVES to teach, very notable. Clicker questions every class, two papers but I got 100% on the final so I wouldn't say they are tough. I think he is worth taking.
This was an inspirational class. Frank really knows the material well and does great conveying it too the student. I took both the first and the second half of the course and enjoyed them very much. If a student takes time too embrace history and enjoy learning it then there is no other then Frank Nobilletti to teach it.
The only homework in this class is 2 clicker points in class. We wrote a term paper and a final paper as the biggest assignments. There were other, easy assignments but the work load is surprisingly low. Frank is so passionate and a great lecturer-- the his class if you love history and analyzing it.
There are no pop quizzes, but 2 clicker questions every class that make up 15% of your grade based on accuracy. It's hard because they're based on the reading which is over 30 pages so I ended up just guessing because it wasn't worth reading and getting the answer wrong anyway. He's very passionate about history but a 3 hour class is death.
Nobiletti is an awesome guy. He is very passionate about history. This class was tough because it was 3 hours long, but assignments were minimal.
He is quite passionate, but felt more like a politics class than history. I took this hoping for an easy GE, but it certainly is not that. Many easy but time-consuming assignments. Clicker points graded on accuracy and are based on very long readings, so majority of people end up guessing. Not difficult if you are willing to put in a lot of time.
This class was centered around global warming which was cool. Frank is liberal/libertarian and doesnt hide it. Very long classes and lectures go off on a tangent but he cares a lot about the students and the class. Easy grader. I went every other class and ended with an A. Super helpful in office hours, go to him about midterm paper for an A
This guy is the best teacher I have ever had. So much so that I decided to wait to take my credits until I could take it with him. He has his political tangents that I disagree with but that doesn't matter. He assigns like 300 points all year with TONS of extra credit. I didn't do any of it, but it is mostly movies. I hope to see him teaching 109!
Class was two days a week for an hour and fifteen and he assigns readings for every class period with a clicker question for the reading. I never read because it was too much and just guessed/looked up the clicker question. Never listened to lecture eithe PRO: There is no tests, only one term paper at the end! and a couple homework/outside videos.
Hes a nice guy, took him fall 2019. But wow, so unorganized. The final was truly a mess. BUT, he isnt a bad professor. He knows history well. And the material isnt hard. So while he is unorganized, it wasnt impossible to do well. Hes just kinda crazy. Also, hes super lenient with deadlines and offers EC. For hist110, definitely take him.
