I only had him for lab, but he was easy.
Makes sure everyone understands--reviews thoroughly for exams. drops lowest grade looks like Mr Bean
He might seem like a tough teacher, but it's a ploy. His tests are incredibely easy. I highly recomend him. you won't be sorry.
Awesome teacher with lots of personality and twisted humor. If you pay attention to his notes and do the needed homework; the tests and quizzes will be based on exactly what you studied for.
HE'S A GREAT TEACHER WITH HIS OWN BIZZARE SENSE OF HUMOR...HIS NOTES & HIS LECTURES ARE GOOD. HE TELL YOU EXACTLY WHAT'S ON THE TEST & PROBLEMS THAT YOU SHOULD DO TO PREPARE. SOMETIMES HE EVEN HAND OUT HIS OWN NOTES TO FACILITATE THE CLASS AS WELL AS REVIEW QUESTIONS. IF YOU WORK HARD IN HIS CLASS; YOU'LL DO VERY WELL INDEED.
Great organic teacher!
Excellent -Excellent - Excellent- This can be difficult subject -but he explains it well & makes sure the class understands him. Tests are based on his handouts and if you do the homework and read his handouts - you will ace his tests. wonderful man- don't take anyone else.
very easy prof. and he will spend as much time on something until everyone in the class gets it! his exams are really easy as long as you study his handouts! great prof! i definetely recommend him!
he has his own sense of humor. LOL~ he is a nice guy. tests are easy if u study the handouts.
I like his way of teaching. He is very nice guy and his lecture was understandable. Take his lecture!
He was great teacher, and his class was fun! Take his class!
I just want to say that this is the best professor I've ever had. He's great, funny and very fare with the students, if you pay attention in class, you don't even have to study.I got an A, believe me....
I HAD HIM FOR GEN. CHEM I/II & ORGANIC I/II.HE'S AWESOME.BEST PROFESSOR EVER;ESP. IN ORGANIC WHICH CAN EASILY OVERWHEALM...NOT HIS CLASS!NOTES ON POWERPOINT FROM BOOK & DOES REVIEWS. STUDY CHAP 1 & 2 WELL AS THIS IS YOUR BASE FOR THE REST OF ORGANIC.IF YOU STUDY HARD AND PRACTICE PROBLEMS A LOT,YOU'LL DO VERY WELL.IT'S NOT HARD AT ALL.ASK QUESTIONS
amazing! Take him! I'd reccomend him to anyone
All I can say is I wishhhhh I had this guy for my gen. chem. courses. He's honestly the most caring straight forward professor I've had thus far. Orgo is an incredibly overwhelming subject, so be aware this is noooo walk in the park course! The book is amazing though read it and do the problems until your eyes fall out. Good luck and try not to cry
i would be willing to bet my last hundred dollars that Ramdayal himself wrote all of the aforementioned POSITVE writeups. this guy is NUTS!; in the middle of a lecture, he goes off about his personal feelings about God, relationships, etc,. he gives you a quiz and doesnt even return it for you to study from until AFTER the test. DONT TAKE HIM!!!
He is one of the most awesome professors I ever had. He is very fair, very smart, very prepared, and makes the subject very interesting. He is vert friendly, but do not mistake his friendliness with him being a pushover. He expects you to work hard. You will get the grade you desrve.
Excellent professor. Take him. Gives notes and lots of help on website. Previews before every test. Easy to approach.
awesome teacher, provides notes, which is awesome so you can pay attention and not be writing in class...funny guy too, take him!
Please don't take him. If you really want to learn something and are planning on to take higher level courses in chemistry, you should avoid him. He teaches nothing! He doesn't make you understand. Everything is so fast, and he doesn't explain things deliberately. Not helpful at all.
Genuinely cares for his students. If you thought any of his quizs or exams were difficult, then you shouldn't be studying the sciences (i.e you're stupid). It is a hard course, but he's an amazing professor. Honestly if you think he's difficult then you're going to get destroyed at any 4 year university. Take Orgo at BCC while you still can.
Dr. Ramdayal is a decent Chemistry teacher, BUT his personal views/rants were brought into the classroom everyday. He spoke about God, terrorism, went on anti-America rants, & told our class that he was surprised we passed high school. I received an A in his class. I give him a B- for teaching & a F for social skills and classroom etiquette.
Great professor! Took a hybrid class but he still spent time lecturing to be sure we understood the material. Gives out his own notes and gives reviews for the exams. Very fun, very nice, very helpful!
Good teacher. His delivery is a little rough around the edges (especially on first day). He is very approachable and helpful outside of classroom. He will not put up with non-sense. You must do the work and you will get an ?A?. Exams were very to fair to slightly easy. I would recommend him.
I dropped out his class. he doesn't teach. One person steals out of class every time, she is in class less than30min.she hides cribs for exam in cuff , but she didn't fail. His handwriting isnt easy to read. He may take follow Ricatto's good example.
he ought not to yell in lab.
If you have a science degree and take only this class/ a semester, you can get an A.I did lab alone. Professor didn't accept I joined in a group.
not a resposible teacher.
It was a hybrid class - we were supposed to learn INDEPENDENTLY and then come to class prepared. I don't think most people understood that. That being said, he was rude and needs an attitude adjustment. Also he gave us three different syllabi and none of them matched!
I disagree with the prior comments. I think Dr. Ramdayal is an excellent teacher. He clerly explains all his topics and emphasizes what is important. If you struggled in his class it is because you never attended or looked at his notes. I thought he was very clear about what would be on his tests.
7 drop out.He only read pp.He said don't memorize, but good scores atudents memorize mechanically. The average scores arent bad because 40% students had studied orgCHM.2students are chemists who cannot understand his lecture. If he likes a student,he accepts s/he is absent from lab, copy anothre's data& write lab report. If he dislikes,he doesnt accept
Easy going professor. He teaches hybrid courses which makes it hard for students to catch up on work. Only 4 tests the whole semester and around 6 quizzes which is not a bad deal especially because he gives a review for each test. Very helpful during his lectures and no surprises on the tests. I recommend if you want to earn a good grade. Not an ea
Good professor. His examples are clear, concise and quaintly humorous. He has stand offish body language but is willing to help. Review sheets = tests so study them well. Hybrid class so there was a fair amount of online quizzes which was a bit annoying and the concepts they tested were not exactly in the notes. I would take him again.
He is an excellent professor in organic chemistry. I took organic I (CHM 260) and organic II (CHM 262) and got "A"s. He expects you to work. I know the students who wrote bad reports about hin in orgaanic chemistry - they dropped his class because they expected a free pass, but he expects you to work hard. Take him. He is an excellent professor.
Looks very serious but is a friendly guy. He seems silly to repeat himself & as tho he were asking a question, but repetition helps! His honors class meets once/wk. He zooms chapters. His selfmade notes are helpful & can clarify uncertainty by using the textbook. For honors lecture: 4 exams (incl final-not cumul), 6 assignments (word probs, etc).
DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT TO KEEP UR GPA UP DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOUR AN A STUDENT YOU WILL GET A (D) HIS TEST ARE EXTREMELY HARD AND HE IS A TOUGH GRADER.
Doesn't care about students, hard to understand, doesn't explain good, yells at everybody in class, ignores questions, curses, maybe not so scary after all but makes you not care about money you loose just to drop off his class. Not sure how is his grading policy, but he gives up too much material which makes you hard to be organized on one piece.
He is an excellent professor. He is fair, but he tries to make sure you learn the material. He does nor give a free pass. Students who complain are those who do not want to work and expect a good grade for doing nothing. I hated chemistry before entering his class, but at the end of his class, my interest in chemistry was much greater.
DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Take him if you want to be a Doctor or engineer because you cannot get an A in his class unless you have mastered the class. Electrons are the foundation of Orgo-chem so you want to know it inside and out. I do not recommend him if you are not a diligent student.
I wouldn't advise taking him if you'd like to get a good grade in Chemistry. The level he teaches is way too intense for a level 100 course. I am not afraid to work hard, but his class was nearly impossible. He is unapprochable and not very nice to boot.
excellent teacher.. reccomended for serious students...
I took his class over the winter break. I didn't need a textbook because he gave all the notes that I need to study for. Very clear, to the point. Finishing the course in 16 days was hard but manageable. Very good teacher overall. Do not take this course if you are looking for an easy A. Good Luck!!
I took CHM100 hybrid & got an A. For hybrid you are supposed to do the lecture @ home. He still lectured us in lab even though he isn't required to do it. He does talk down to the class as a whole bc people score poorly, but it's true that he is approachable. Curves tests. It's not hard material, it's college. Understand concepts, not memorization
He is way too harsh, and too negative, and even belittles the class as a whole. He says there is no wrong answer, but yet will laugh at a student if the answer is wrong! He talks down to us and in general, just leaves a really bad taste in my mouth! I would not recommend him at all!
He makes chemistry so easy! Had him in fall'12. It was a hybrid course so we only met once a week. Lots of reading but manageable. He gives many practice problems so you can be ready for the exam. Nice and funny professor. Enjoyed his class.
He make chemistry very understandable and will repeat himself a lot to make sure we understand the material. curves every test, drops lowest quiz grades. just be advised he expects you to work hard. he's funny too how he will go off topic and will start preaching. lol other than that I highly recommend him !
I recommend him for nursing students and others who would like to master basic chemistry. If you are prepared to be challenged and work hard you will receive an A. If you are not prepared to put a lot of effort in than this will be difficult. I took a hybrid, which is self taught. I have a BFA, so an art background, and I still aced this class.
Definitely recommend. He is a bit strange in a way he expresses his thoughts, but as a teacher he is very very good. Easily explains you any complicated concept in simple way. But he got no respect to people who doesn't read the book and doesn't work on material, which is understandable.
Great professor. Very clear. Very fair. Explains things very well. Scared me to death the first day of class, but actually very nice guy. All assignments geared towards the tests. Very well structured class. Highly recommend.
Amazing professor had no interest or understanding of chem b4 taking his call. Very clear and concise, gives partial credit and is hilarious which is great at 930am
I took his hybrid chem 100 class.. he does a good job of explaining a difficult subject. His class isn't easy and he's a bit odd, but his expectations are clear and his homework and quizes really prepare you for his exams. I worked really hard for a B, but I walked away with a greater understanding of chem.. would take again.
Do not bother taking Professor Ramdayal if you're not willing to put in a lot of effort--he has no patience for students who don't prepare for class. He provides you with a lot of resources to prepare for tests--take-home assignments, his handwritten notes, quizzes. He has a really dry sense of humor which most students don't appreciate/understand.
By far one of the best chem professors in bergen. Retook this class over the winter break and learned more in 2 weeks than I did the whole last semester. He provides you with a lot of notes packets to help you prepare for exams. He cares a lot for his students and actually enjoys teaching. Take him !
Had him for organic 1, great professor. Doesn't like lazy people, so do not take him if you want an easy A. With him you definitely learn best professor at Bergen.
how can everybody say he is a good teacher? HE ISNT. If you don't believe me go take the class for yourself. He is so hard to understand he doesn't explain ANYTHING. This is coming from a straight A student taking mechanical engineering at another college. Try it for yourself, but if you fail, don't be surprised. He clearly sucks.
Great Professor. He's very clear and definitely knows his stuff. Very helpful and straightforward with the material. But you need to put your part as well. A lot of studying is required. He gives helpful packets so you don't really need the book.
Excellent teacher. He may scare you the first day but if you pay attention to his class and read the material he gives you in class you will get a good grade. He repeats key definitions A LOT for you to pass his test. if you prepare and read for his classes and labs you will do more than ok.
HORRIBLE! if you take him in the winter, you will regret it. There is a quiz on the second day of class. Has a heavy accent and could not understand a word. He gives out study guides that he writes himself. Good luck trying to decipher his hieroglyphics. He is the worst professor i have ever taken. He wont help you. He just wants your money.
Dr frank is a great proff he has a accent that is tough to listen to but it can be very funny his lectures are easy and he goes over everything clearly you will not regret taking his class. he gives you a packet of notes that has everything that you need to know for the class
Students saying great, best, awesome teacher, I understand what happened, they either went nuts or cray crazy after taking this professor,or they want other students to make the same mistake they did by choosing this teacher! Condescending and HORRIBLE teacher, I thought teachers like him didn't exist anymore, should be prohibited!
People only think he's a bad professor if they have a lot of trouble with chemistry. He explains everything very basically and clearly, it's hard to be lost. Yes, he makes jokes regarding the classes lack of knowledge, but that's only because a majority of the people HAVE a lack of knowledge. Just listen and practice everything, you'll be fine.
Excellent professor; has tough accent. If he sees you try, he will help you until you understand the material. Study the packets he gives you. There is an A for you.
A very intelligent individual, absolutely adores chemistry. All topics covered in class will be on the exam; there are 4 exams and a quiz each week. Practice questions are a must in preparations for his exams.
It's fundamental to have a good instructor, this isn't one of them. Humiliated me by laughing at my questions, would walk away from me as I would be speaking to him. Unorganized, moves up exam/quiz dates. Overall, just wait until you transfer out to take Orgo if chemistry isn't your strength as the resources at BCC won't be enough.
Ramdayal is the ideal professor. Hands out packets to study from, homework to practice, and notes to explain all the material. Resourceful and intelligent. Also, he actually TEACHES the material, unlike some other professors. I definitely recommend!
I've come to the realization that he is one of the best teachers I've had. I tend to have to work hard for good grades. I read the textbook, do the recommended homework, use the online content provided. I have a far better understanding of chemistry than I ever have.
Professor Ramdayal is an amazing professor and I can say the best at BCC. Even though I read the others saying he is a tough grader or write bad reviews about him, everything is a lie. I took 2 classes with him and he is the best. That's all I can say. Highly recommended, got 2 A already
very smart professor knows the material inside out but does not know how to teach the students. Gets upset when students don't know the material, is not patient at all with student. Rushes through lectures and does not really give an examples of what he is explaining. online videos helped more than he did
The grade in this class is based solely on tests and quizzes, which are difficult. Ramdayal prepares you for this with note packets and practice problems. To succeed in here make sure to: read the textbook, know the material inside out, and do the practice problems he gives. The only negatives are that he rushes lectures and gets mixed up a lot.
Prof Ramdayal is definitely worth taking if you don't mind working. His grading criteria is clear and he is very fair with grading, although he may come off as a tough grader in class. Let's get one thing straight, unless you reach out to him after class (in person), the man does not care what your situation is. Study practice problems, youll pass.
I took this professor for chemistry 1 during the summer after earning a D in Chemistry I at Rutgers. This man literally taught everything. Chemistry is not an easy course but if you put in the time, you shall see the results! I am planning on taking him for Orgo..
FRAM! He's easily my favorite professor. He's very funny and cares a lot about making sure that his students learn the material. He gives many handouts and handwritten notes to help guide the students through the lecture. Attendance for lectures isn't really mandatory, but the lectures are extremely informative. I highly recommend taking him!
Professor Fram is my favorite. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I would definitely go to the lectures. Textbook isn't mandatory either. He let's you use a variety of textbooks, not just the recommended one for the course and is very understanding. He is hilarious and definitely a fantastic professor. You'll never go a class without laughing.
Take him if you actually want to learn Chem. He is tough, and expects you to work, but he's fair and will help you succeed if you're serious. He's extremely knowledgable and always willing to help. He wants his students to walk away from his class by understanding concepts vs. memorizing details which is exactly what you want in a professor.
The good... fair, attends to OSS acc. well, makes you understand concepts via self-teaching. The bad.. everything else: Method of teaching is messy(terms of writing on board), fast pace teaching, etc. I recommend steering away from him, especially visual learners. Even if you want to learn chm., theres better teachers tht do a better job.
Easy class if you passed high school chem. Its the exact same material. I had him for honors and he tried to make it sound more difficult than it was. He goes a little fast some times and might get frustrated at small questions. It shouldn't be an issue if you've taken chemistry before.
He goes *FAST* so if you can't keep up with the work or the lectures, be responsible and get help:tutoring center, his office hours, even youtube tutorials online. He's clear in what he wants and what will be on tests. If you took chemistry in high school, this class will be an easy A. If you didn't, just put in a little effort and you'll get an A.
Awesome professor! All the negative comments are completely wrong about this man. He may move a little fast, but that's because he doesn't trail off into tangents or personal stories like a lot of professors. He explains everything thoroughly, gives you lots of review packets and study websites, and is always available after class to provide help.
Professor Ramdayal is great. When you first meet him, he will give the impression that you won't pass his class but he is excellent and is going to prepare you to get good grades. The material is difficult but he is going to make it looks like nothing. You will have to study to pass. I definitely recommend him.
Hes a very smart person, but not the best teacher. Has a heavy accent and talks very fast so hes hard to understand, he will usually give you lecture notes but theyre in his handwriting which is extremely hard to read. I basically had to teach all the material to myself. He makes things more complicated than they should be. Very condescending.
Professor Ramdayal is a very knowledgeable professor who can break things down very well. At first he seems intimidating and hard to understand due to his accent, but after a few lectures you'll get used to his accent and begin to see how caring he really is. He curved almost every exam and If you ever need help just go to his office hours.
Dr. Ramdayal is the man. Organic chemistry actually makes sense and his class helped me figure out what I want to do with my life. Do his recommended problems, and good grades will come.
This professor was extremely disrespectful and arrogant. He has a condescending attitude when you ask him questions. He always has a mocking tone when you speak to him. DO NOT TAKE.
Very nice teacher, a little pacy. But, you have to work for it. Take the professor if you want to learn.
Had him for both CHM 100 & 140 for lab & lecture, took him twice because he's that good. He uses dry humor that most people take offensively but he means no harm. His classes are straight-forward & as long as you take notes & pay attention to his reviews, you're good to go! He's always willing to help, just ask! Emails notifications for everything.
THIS IS THE BEST TEACHER THAT CARE ABOUT YOU, VERY RESPECTFUL. HE WILL EXPLAIN MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND. KNOWLEDGEABLE, I WISH IF HE TEACH ALL CHEM CLASSES. THIS WAY YOU KNOW THAT YOU WILL FULLY UNDERSTAND AND PASS. BEST OF THE BEST
He is a really good professor. I took him for CHM-100 and CHM-140 both lecture and lab. He is clear on what will come in the test. Provides study guides. He always emails you and remind you of your quizzes and test and provide material to study from. He usually gives 20 min extra time before the actual time of the test. extra questions in tests
This guy is the reason I know what's going on in my Organic Chem class at Montclair University. The basics are so clear in my head a full year after taking his class. He was uber helpful all throughout the semester and always respectful and kind. I actually miss him and am planning on seeking him out for help as my organic chem class progresses.
This is not a class that I would recommend if you are a student that works full time hours, or is balancing a full class schedule. While the professor does give a lot material to study, there is never clear instruction as to what should be focused on. There is no extra credit. He can be very inappropriate with the way he speaks
Was Organic Chemistry the hardest class I have ever taken? Yes! Would I ever take Dr. Ramdayal again? Heck Yes! Listen, in all classes, you get the grade you have worked for, but boy did I work for that B! Dr. Ramdayal explained the material well for me to go home and learn the rest myself, but I did all the problems in that organic chemistry book.
Yes,Frank Ramdayal knows his chemistry. However, he does not teach it well. It is very difficult to understand stand him, not only because he has an accent but he speaks super fast. He expects you to go in class knowing the material because in his own words it's "third grade work". Also, his class is boring and the majority of the time he's a grump
I failed high school chemistry once and college Chemistry TWICE before taking his class and passed it with a freaking A+. And because of him, I received an A in Organic Chem and am on my way to an A in Biochem. He teaches concepts so you understand what you're doing and are not just forced to memorize a bunch of info that you forget in 30 seconds.
He was not understanding, despite the difficulty of learning Chemistry online over the computer. Super disappointed, awfully hard class.
Dr. Ramdayal is an outstanding professor, everyone is intimidated by him first, but once you get to know him, you will absolutely love him. He is passionate about chemistry and he is the best at teaching it. If you want to get an A just pay attention and do the work.
don't let the harsh syllabus fool you. All you need to get an A is to follow the lectures. He gives you one week to submit the lab and he gives you all the instruction need. the final exam is basic things too. At first, I was hesitant, the only reason I took him was the schedule, but now I would adjust my schedule to take him.
At first you might think hes a good prof because theres no homework, but he is just lazy and doesnt care about the students. He doesnt want to grade anything. Exams and quizzes are mc, so no chance of getting partial credit. Unless you know chemistry from high school or Chem-100, you would not do well. Very disappointing.
No hw but you will NEED to study. Grade depends on quiz/test. If you mess up there's no extra credit. He is kind and will explain again if you ask so don't be afraid in asking questions. Mostly reviews content in class. Read the textbook and do questions he assigns before a quiz/test. He emails those information so be attentive to that.
He was okay he was very harsh at first and very mean at first but towards the end he thought me how to deal with a difficult subject and the exams are basically homework questions and the quizzes are harder than the exam. I passed the class with tutoring , labs are easy but challenging with him as well. But he is very easy with lab report grading.
Please don't take this professor. Even though his quizzez and tests were easy, I feel like if you don't understand his accent then you have no clue what he is teaching you.
I don't understand why he has so many bad reviews. Professor Ramdayal is a great professor and very knowledgeable about what he teaches. His accent is not a problem at all and his lectures are pretty clear as long as you pay attention. His labs are really easy and straightforward and his quizzes are not hard at all. Take him you won't regret it!!
If you are not a chem major, do yourself a favor and do no take this class. This was the hardest class I have taken since I have been at Bergen and I regret it so much. This guy wants you to dedicate hours worth of studying for his class and his exams show it. Half of the class dropped after the second exam which are worth 20 percent of your grade.
His tests and quizzes were mostly easy since he is a light grader. His lectures were not great as he speed through the material so fast. He did not explain concepts well since he was always 2 steps ahead of us. Many of us were confused on what he was teaching. Lots of studying is required. Labs were decent and sometimes fun.
if you know the topic, tests and quizzes were easy and he gives plenty of partial credit so that's nice. but his lectures were very confusing and even though i tried my best to pay attention, he went through topics too quickly and was confusing. i taught myself a lot of the concepts through youtube.
His accent and handwriting are NOT understandable. If you want to take this professor be ready to teach yourself the WHOLE syllabus. He wont stop to help anyone, always complaining about his life, always complaining that the work he is teaching is third grade work. His teaching is like him doing the work on his own on the board.
Had him for accelerated summer course. He gives alot of assessment during this course, 8 quizes and 4 tests. He was very clear about what he expected from you and nothing on the test was a surprise. He would answer questions before and after lecture. Tryed to make the material as comprehensible as possible. Fair grader, book is not required
As a bio major, I took Professor Ramdayal for honors introchem and he was (and has been), the best teacher I've taken throughout my college career. Quizzes every week to enforce the material and to test your knowledge so you can see what you know/don't. I also took him for Gen Chem 1 and Gen Chem 2 and wished he taught Orgo when I was taking it!
Whatever he has on the quiz is on the test. Low-key degrades you if you don't know what your doing. very bad handwriting. Lenient grader. If you do your work he likes you a lot and gives you a lot of leeway with missing assignments. No homework.
I took him in the 2023 fall semester for lab only and it was okay. If you know what you are doing you should be fine, but if you don't good luck. People in my class would ask questions and he would make them feel embarrassed for asking. I wouldn't take him again unless it was the last option tbh. Every lab is mandatory... even if you're sick.
frank is a unique prof. He is NOT good at explaining the material. And he move on quickly. However to be fair he give 8 quizzes and 4 tests. 2 quizzes before each test. And the tests are exactly the same style as the quizzes, which make the tests very easy I got A+ without much effort just review what he said in class and study on the quizzes.
Class is not hard and is simple. He would get very angry for no reason, though. Better to find a professor that is happier with his life.
Very bad professor. He is very angry is is constantly yelling for no reason. He has a lot of anger and takes it out on his students. He nearly messed up my experiment by taking off the watch glass while the hydrate was being turned to an anhydrous. I was going wait for the hydrate to stop popping, but he came and took off the watch glass.
Good professor, explains content fairly clearly, labs can get chaotic. Imo if you fail out of his class it's your fault 100%. 2 quizzes worth 1.5% of your grade before every test, 4 tests, each 16.5% each. Quizes helped a lot, tests very similar to tests. Funny guy too, helped lectures go by just a bit quicker.
I took Dr. Frank for CHM 100 and its lab class. He is helpful, knows his stuff, and always asks if you have questions. He is like a HS teacher in the sense that he's always there for you. His exams aren't hard at all; it is things you cover in class. There is usually extra credit for a lot of points too. His labs are simple, and he demonstrates.
Prof. Ramdayal is very straightforward with his expectations of you. His class was challenging for me because his lectures seemed very disorganized. I heavily relied on the textbook, which he often denounced. However, if you must take his class, I'd recommend supplementing your education with outside material.
Graded reasonably, I understood the material. Does not accept late labs so make sure to turn in all labs on time.
I took him for general chem I lecture and he was alright. My only critique was that all his lectures felt rushed so you have to be prepared to learn everything outside of the classroom.
This professor seemed like he never wanted to actually be there for the students. He always had a nasty attitude and would absolutely flame you if you had to ask a question.
He does not know how to be a good professor, or doesn't know how to teach. He's very sarcastic and not in a good way. He has a bad attitude with his students. He never should have chosen this profession if he tells his students that. He tells his student to drop if they don't understand the material. The textbook will be your best friend.
a little difficult at times to understand him, good luck getting a email response but it's an easy class. I took him for CHM100 and CHM 140. NO HW. Theres 4 tests and each one is based off the 2 quizzes that were before it. Provides practice tests and quizzes that are SUPER similar to actual exams and is extremely easy to study for.
Very degrading, made it hard to ask questions in class; Tough grader on tests/quizzes; Labs are easy; Lecture is hard to understand (moves very fast through material)
The only students who like this professor are the ones who just memorize the textbook. If you try to solve things your own way, he cuts your grade. He tells you not to use his notes but still takes points off if you use other sources. If you ask questions or point out a mistake, he gets very angry. I will never ever take him again. Run away….
I had him both for lecture and lab. He teaches on a certain way that makes easy and simple content feel really overwhelming. I learned more from reading the textbook by myself than his lectures be honest. He also loves to call out people for being late, not understanding something or asking questions that he CONSIDERS to be common sense.
I got A's in all my classes and had a 4.0 GPA. I also took CHEM141 lab with another professor and got an A, even though the lab and lecture had the same topics and exams. But in his lecture, I got a C. He gets angry if you point out his mistakes and wants everything explained like to a child. He doesn't give extra time, even if you know the answer.
I took Professor Ramdayal for CHM100 and it was a great experience. He explains the material clearly and the tests are not too hard. Everything on the test comes from the handouts, so if you study those, you'll be fine. The labs are also easy — you just need to practice and follow the steps. He's very helpful and wants his students to succeed.
God help this man.
This guy is an @ hole. He yelled at the entire class saying, "You're all like kindergarden!," just because he couldn't see that a bottle of chemicals was on a counter.
SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS GUY. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
He's very quick to become frustrated with a class, consistently comparing us to Kindergarteners or his daughter. None of the material was relatively difficult, but you do have to make sure you study the handouts for that's what will be on the exam. He cracks jokes every now and then to help provide some relief from his never-ending frustration.
I took his online course back in 2022. He was amazing. He made me like chemistry more. This class is mostly mathematical-based and knowing how to use equations rather than in-depth concepts of chemistry.
he was the worst teacher ive ever met in bergen, when going to his class i prayed, never worked. DO NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT take this guy, he doesnt explain good at all, first lab made us figure it out ourselves and got mad when we didnt know!
guy sucks lol. pretty sure the only positive ratings are written by him XD
Hard class, his teaching abilities are okay but he can be very disorganized with his notes. One time I pointed out a mistake on one of the exercises to prepare for a test and he never acknowledged my contribution. He should have acknowledged it so other students don't get confused as I did.
